ABSTRACT Gender inequality (imbricated with class and race inequalities) is a social and historical problem with serious objective and subjective consequences. It produces suffering collectively shared by oppressed groups. This text is a reflection on suffering and resistance, based on the memories and life stories of women who participate in feminist social movements. We seek to apprehend the meanings and psychological transformations that accompany this political participation, especially in the context of a feminist, anti-racist and anti-capitalist social movement: World March of Women. Starting from the biographical trajectory of a deponent, we reflect on psychosocial aspects of silence and speech as linked to historical processes of domination and exploitation, of resistance and confrontations.

RESUMO A desigualdade de gênero (imbricada às desigualdades de classe e raça) configura-se como um problema social e histórico de graves consequências objetivas e subjetivas. Produz sofrimentos coletivamente compartilhados pelos grupos oprimidos. Este texto é uma reflexão sobre sofrimento e resistência, a partir das memórias e histórias de vida de mulheres que participam de movimentos sociais feministas. Buscamos apreender os sentidos e as transformações psicológicas que acompanham essa participação política, especialmente no contexto de um movimento social feminista, antirracista e anticapitalista: a Marcha Mundial das Mulheres. Partindo da trajetória biográfica de uma depoente, refletimos sobre aspectos psicossociais do silêncio e da fala como ligados a processos históricos de dominação e exploração, de resistência e enfrentamentos.

ABSTRACT The present paper intends to historicize the praising memory of the French mission in the old Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras at Universidade de São Paulo (USP), as many historian men and women from that teaching center of higher education expressed in the second half of the last century. After a brief introduction to the subject, two great moments divide the essay: first it is analyzed the appearing of a founding report of the memory for French masters in the history department at USP. Then, comparing this first document with other texts and other actions it is remarked the process of landmarking the mentioned memory. Therefore, based on historiographic sources and inspired by reflections of history and memory, I intend to show when and how the legacy of French professors has become a strong topic memory among the history course participants at USP.

RESUMO O corrente texto visa historicizar a memória enaltecedora da missão francesa na antiga Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras da Universidade de São Paulo (USP), conforme diversos historiadores e historiadoras desse centro de ensino superior expressaram ao longo da segunda metade do século passado. Após uma rápida introdução à temática, dois grandes momentos dividem a proposta: inicialmente, analisa-se a emergência de um relato fundador da memória pró mestres franceses no Departamento de História da USP; em seguida, cotejando esse documento inaugural com outros textos e outras ações, aponta-se para o processo de monumentalização da referida memória. Assim, baseando-se em fontes historiográficas e inspirando-se em reflexões sobre história e memória, procura-se mostrar quando e como o legado dos professores franceses tornou-se uma tópica memorialística forte entre os partícipes do curso de história uspiano.

ABSTRACT This article outlines a brief overview on the French language poetry written by Sérgio Milliet which came to be the start of his literary career. Unlike his poetry production in Portuguese, these inaugural poems were never revisited by the author in later editions of his poetic oeuvre. In addition to a quick perusal of the works published while still in his Genevese period (works of similar essence), we have the comments made on one of his poems published in the visual arts and literary magazine Klaxon, “La Guerre”, and on the book published in Belgium, in 1923, intitled Œil-de-bœuf. These accounts may be able to point the way Milliet’s poetry would come to take as of 1926 and provide the bases for a more accurate analysis of Sérgio Milliet’s poetic criticism and translations.

RESUMO O artigo traça um breve panorama da poesia em língua francesa com a qual Sérgio Milliet deu início à sua carreira literária. Diferentemente do destino reservado aos versos compostos em língua portuguesa, os poemas dessa fase inaugural não foram jamais retomados pelo autor em edições posteriores de sua obra poética. A um rápido exame das obras publicadas ainda no período genebrino, de essência semelhante, acrescentam-se comentários acerca de um dos poemas publicados na revista Klaxon, “La guerre”, e do livro lançado na Bélgica em 1923, Œil-de-bœuf. Acredita-se que essa leitura pode apontar os rumos que a poesia millietiana tomaria a partir de 1926 e dar subsídios para uma análise mais acurada da crítica poética e do trabalho tradutório de Sérgio Milliet.

ABSTRACT During the period between the publication of the articles written for the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo and the writing of Os sertões, Euclides da Cunha radically changes his opinion on the meaning of the Canudos uprising, but at no time, before or after the publication of the book, does he register the reasons for this change of opinion or propose a self-criticism of his previous position. The paper examines this silence, seeking to diagnose it from the theoretical framework provided by the mass psychology adopted in the book, especially that formulated by the psychiatrist Nina Rodrigues. Being used by Euclides to understand the “collective madness” that have allegedly affected the sertanejos, such psychological theory, which characterizes this collective disease as contagious, may give clues about the “contamination” of the author of the denouncement against the Republic, explaining, at least in part, his omission in not including himself among the causes of the tragedy.

RESUMO No período entre a publicação dos artigos escritos para o jornal O Estado de S. Paulo e a redação de Os sertões, Euclides da Cunha muda radicalmente sua opinião sobre o significado da revolta de Canudos, mas em nenhum momento, antes ou depois da publicação do livro, ele registra as razões dessa mudança ou propõe uma autocrítica a seu posicionamento anterior. O presente artigo examina esse silêncio, procurando diagnosticá-lo a partir do quadro teórico fornecido pela psicologia das massas adotada no livro, especialmente a de autoria do psiquiatra Nina Rodrigues. Sendo usada por Euclides para compreender a “loucura coletiva” que teria acometido os sertanejos, uma tal teoria psicológica, que caracteriza essa doença coletiva como contagiosa, poderá dar pistas sobre a “contaminação” do próprio autor da denúncia contra a República, explicando, ao menos em parte, sua omissão ao não se incluir entre os causadores da tragédia.

ABSTRACT There were several movements in favor of the emancipation of women in our society, one of which is the advance of the female press, which emerged in the 17th century, but which spread mainly in the 19th century. The present study presents an analysis of the scientific and mathematical texts published in the journal O Quinze de Novembro do Sexo Feminino: periódico quinzenal, litterario, recreativo e noticioso especialmente dedicado aos interesses da mulher published between 1889 and 1890 by Francisca Senhorinha da Motta Diniz. Although this research points out that the theme is episodic, it shows that this publication can be a way of understanding how the periodicals of that period sought the insertion of women in the scientific and mathematical universe, as well as showing the role of this knowledge for the emancipation of women in Brazilian society at the end of the 19th century.

RESUMO Diversos foram os movimentos em prol da emancipação da mulher na nossa sociedade, um dos quais é o advento da imprensa feminina, que surgiu no século XVII, mas que se difundiu especialmente no século XIX. O presente estudo traz uma análise dos textos científicos e matemáticos publicados no periódico O Quinze de Novembro do Sexo Feminino: periodico quinzenal, litterario, recreativo e noticioso especialmente dedicado aos interesses da mulher, editado entre 1889 e 1890, por Francisca Senhorinha da Motta Diniz. Embora esta pesquisa aponte que o tema é episódico, ela mostra que essa publicação pode ser uma maneira de compreender como os periódicos daquele período buscavam a inserção das mulheres no universo científico e matemático, assim como evidencia o papel destes conhecimentos para a emancipação da mulher na sociedade brasileira do final do século XIX.

ABSTRACT In this work I analyze the ways explored by the writers Nélida Piñon and Ana T. Torres to textualize memory in their A república dos sonhos (1984) and La escribana del viento (2013), respectively. I will resort to Piñon ‘s essays, as she insists on the cunning of female language to position herself and manages to enthrone herself as a narrator. I will ground my analysis into the thought of Ana Teresa Torres, when she states that contemporary writing is configured as “fictions of dispossession”. In the relationship between memory and spoil, some notions arise such as the idea of “leftover” and the idea of “garbage”. To understand them, I need to make use of the thought of Benjamin and Aleida Assmann, as well as other intellectuals - Levinas, Gagnebin - who define the limits between memory and history. This path allows me to affirm that the ruin is a central idea in the “fictions of dispossession”, as these fictions are positioned in the present, but making the ruins of the past palpable, while leaving precariousness as a legacy.

RESUMO Neste trabalho, analiso as formas exploradas pelas escritoras Nélida Piñon e Ana Teresa Torres para textualizar a memória em seus livros A república dos sonhos (1984) e La escribana del viento (2013), respectivamente. Recorrerei aos ensaios de Piñon, porquanto ela insiste na astúcia da linguagem feminina para se posicionar e conseguir entronar-se como narradora. Tomarei como base o pensamento de Ana Teresa Torres ao enunciar que a escrita contemporânea se configura como “ficções do despojo”. Na relação entre a memória e o despojo, surgem algumas noções como a ideia de “resto” e a ideia de “lixo”. Para compreendê-las, preciso me valer do pensamento de Benjamin e de Aleida Assmann, além de outros pensadores - Levinas, Gagnebin - que matizam os limites entre memória e história. Esse percurso me permite afirmar que a ruína é uma ideia central nas “ficções do despojo”, porquanto essas ficções se posicionam no presente, mas fazendo palpáveis as ruínas do passado, ao tempo que deixam como herança a precariedade.

ABSTRACT This study bring a suspicious analysis that flying cars do not come out of prototypes testing when the intention is to be autonomous. Based on the theory of Diffusion and Innovation, by Everett Rogers, applied to the urban air mobility sector, the objective was to explore certain barrier of this technology, the main goal beeing the risks related to security, knowing that the adoption or rejection of innovations is what Gabriel Tarde identified as a crucial research question, As a method, the idea was to verify recent information by documental search among articles, reports and news, to get prepared to interviews the aviation experts (one from Gol Airlines, which chose to acquire a foreign model, other from Eve, e two other ex-Embraer), resulting in discussing and demonstrating the trajectories in the eVTOLs (eletric vertical take-off and landing) context, with bets on sustainability when they promise zero carbon emissions.

RESUMO Este estudo traz uma análise desconfiada de que carros voadores não saem dos testes com protótipos quando o intuito é de que sejam autônomos. Baseado na teoria de Difusão e Inovação, de Everett Rogers, aplicada ao setor de mobilidade aérea urbana, o objetivo foi explorar determinados entraves dessa tecnologia, sendo o principal os riscos relacionados à segurança, sabendo que a adoção ou rejeição das inovações é o que Gabriel Tarde identificou como uma questão crucial de pesquisa. Como método, a ideia foi verificar as informações recentes por meio de busca documental entre artigos, relatórios e notícias, para chegar com munição às entrevistas com especialistas em aviação (um deles da Gol Linhas Aéreas que optou em adquirir um modelo estrangeiro, um da Eve e dois ex-Embraer), resultando discutir e demonstrar as trajetórias nos contextos dos eVTOLs (decolagem e aterrissagem vertical elétrica) com expectativas em termos de sustentabilidade quando prometem emissão zero de carbono.

ABSTRACT The article analyzes the legitimacy risks of exercising power with the use of new technologies, in a possible technocracy that makes political use of technologies as instruments to control the activities of individuals in a society. At first, it debates the meaning of technocracy and technototalitarianism, presenting the context in which the discussion about this new arrangement of power is inserted. Next, in defining the concept of technototalitarianism, he argues how it has threatened the meanings of democracy and individual freedoms in our Western liberal tradition. Finally, it presents some proposals for protecting the subject in digital environments as one of the main instruments for limiting the use of power and as one of the nodal points for rescuing their sense of democratic legitimacy.

RESUMO O artigo analisa os riscos de legitimidade do exercício do poder com o uso das novas tecnologias, em uma possível tecnocracia que faz uso político das tecnologias enquanto instrumentos de controle das atividades dos indivíduos de uma sociedade. Em um primeiro momento, debate o sentido de tecnocracia e tecnototalitarismo, apresentando o contexto em que a discussão sobre esse novo arranjo de poder se insere. Em sequência, ao definir o conceito de tecnototalitarismo, argumenta como ele tem ameaçado os sentidos de democracia e as liberdades individuais da nossa tradição liberal ocidental. Por fim, apresenta algumas propostas de proteção do sujeito em ambientes digitais como um dos principais instrumentos para a limitação do uso do poder e como um dos pontos nodais para o resgate do seu sentido de legitimidade democrática.

ABSTRACT This article proposes to explore the very nature of the jointure formed by the following sociotechnical and historical-economic phenomena: (i) consumption as an experience of subjectivity, and (ii) the transformations that occurred in global markets over the last 40 years, where two axes are crucial: on the one hand, the digital technologies as devices for the production of virtual subjectivity, and on the other, the hybrid wars, centered on the formation and control of sensibilities and perceptions among the populations.

RESUMO O presente artigo propõe-se a explorar a natureza da articulação formada entre os seguintes fenômenos sociotécnicos e histórico-econômicos: (i) a vivência do consumo enquanto experiência de subjetividade, e (ii) as transformações ocorridas nos mercados globais ao longo dos últimos 40 anos, em que dois eixos nos interessam: de um lado, as tecnologias digitais como aparatos de produção de subjetividade virtualizada, e de outro, as guerras híbridas, centradas formação e controle de sensibilidades e percepções junto às populações.

ABSTRACT The essay proposes a retelling of the short story “Os óculos de Pedro Antão”, by Machado de Assis, published in Jornal das Famílias in 1874. As Machado did not incorporate the narrative into his compilations, the drama received unimpressive attention. It is suggested that the text parodically decomposes the detective story genre, in a possible dialogue with the literary production of Edgar Allan Poe. Furthermore, by indicating the narrator’s analytical ineptitude, “Bruxo de Cosme Velho” makes explicit the artificiality of literature.

RESUMO O ensaio propõe uma releitura do conto “Os óculos de Pedro Antão”, de Machado de Assis, publicado no Jornal das Famílias em 1874. Como ele não foi incorporado por Machado em suas coletâneas, o drama acabou recebendo pouca atenção. Sugere-se que o texto decompõe, de forma paródica, o gênero do romance policial, em possível diálogo com a produção literária de Edgar Allan Poe. Além disso, ao indicar a inépcia analítica do narrador, o Bruxo de Cosme Velho explicita a artificialidade da literatura.

ABSTRACT Dataveillance has become one of the main features of govern activities currently, and it manifests not only as the watching of individuals in another scale (hyperveillance) but as a sociotechnical interaction involving risk classification and predictive devices. These systems direct efforts into crime prevention and risk management, instead of promoting unnecessary friction, and confrontations. Such arguments are in line with the current proposition of Shoshana Zuboff (2019) for whom “dataveillance” technologies enable a nonviolent form of power focused on taming individuals’ behaviors and decisions. In light of that, cases like the current experience of London’s Metropolitan Police in deploying the Gang Violence Matrix (GVM), used to identify and profile alleged gang nominals both become the scope of this article and reveals a much more complex reality.

RESUMO Nos dias de hoje, a vigilância de dados tem se tornado uma das principais características das atividades governamentais, e se manifesta não somente em vigiar os indivíduos em outra escala (hipervigilância), mas como uma interação sociotécnica envolvendo classificação de risco e dispositivos preditivos. Esses sistemas direcionam esforços para a predição do crime e gestão de riscos, ao invés de promover atritos e confrontos desnecessários. Tais argumentos vão ao encontro da proposta atual de Shoshana Zuboff (2019), para quem as tecnologias de “datavigilância” possibilitam uma forma de poder não violenta focada em moldar comportamentos e decisões dos indivíduos. Diante disso, casos como a experiência atual da Polícia Metropolitana de Londres na implantação da Matriz de Violência de Gangues (GVM), usada para identificar e traçar o perfil das supostamente nominadas “gangues”, tornam-se tanto o escopo deste artigo, quanto revelam uma realidade bem mais complexa.

ABSTRACT The Middle Pleistocene (780-130 ka) was a key period in human evolutionary history. The period holds a great diversity of hominin species, technological innovations, in addition to being, after all, when Homo sapiens appeared on the planet. However, Pleistocene populations, as well as the biological relationships between them, remain poorly understood. Here, we bring a brief summary of human evolution with special attention to the Middle Pleistocene issues, advances in the field and the Brazilian contribution to this debate.

RESUMO O Pleistoceno Médio (780-130 mil anos) foi um período-chave na história evolutiva humana. O período abriga uma grande diversidade de espécies hominínias, inovações tecnológicas, além de ser, afinal, quando o Homo sapiens surgiu no planeta. Entretanto, as populações pleistocênicas, bem como as relações biológicas entre elas, permanecem precariamente compreendidas. Aqui, trazemos uma breve síntese da evolução humana com especial atenção às questões do Pleistoceno Médio, os avanços da área e a contribuição brasileira a esse debate.
