ABSTRACT: This article presents a relevant topic in the trajectory of Giambattista Piranesi: the proposition of the “Egyptian style” in the publication Diverse maniere d’adornare i cammini ( 1769 ), which reveals some relevant aspects of the Piranesian critical fortune for architectural debates in the 18th century. Firstly, one can gauge Giambattista’s perception of the iconographic and compositional potential of Ancient Egypt by references found in Rome and through the field of decoration, in composing fireplaces — an element of “small architecture.” Its merit lies in presenting a new assessment on the applicability of Egyptian iconography. Additionally, Piranesi attempted to show a way of conceiving the art of building based on variations learned from the lexicon of the Ancients, expressing the craftsman’s ingenuity. This article concludes that by proposing the composition of fireplaces in the “Egyptian style,” Piranesi tested his assumptions about the craftsman’s ability to distribute ornamentation according to the architecture. He thus intended to legitimize, on a theoretical and practical level, a reconciliation between the ancient precepts and the demands of the inventive procedure. Diverse maniere has established itself as a crucial work for understanding Piranesi’s artistic trajectory, consolidating arguments about inventive license based on the repertoire of Antiquity.

RESUMO: Este artigo apresenta um tópico relevante na trajetória de Giambattista Piranesi: a proposição do “estilo egípcio” na publicação Diverse maniere d’adornare i cammini ( 1769 ). Com essa obra pode-se vislumbrar alguns aspectos relevantes da fortuna crítica piranesiana para os debates arquitetônicos no século XVIII. Primeiramente, pode-se aferir a percepção de Giambattista sobre o potencial iconográfico e compositivo do Egito Antigo mediante as referências encontradas em Roma e servindo-se do campo da decoração, com a proposta de composições de lareiras — elemento da “pequena arquitetura”. O mérito da obra consiste em apresentar uma nova apreciação sobre a aplicabilidade da iconografia egípcia. Além desse aspecto, com essa publicação, Piranesi intentou demonstrar uma forma de conceber a arte de construir a partir das variações depreendidas do léxico dos antigos, expressando a engenhosidade do artífice. Este artigo conclui que, ao propor as invenções de lareiras no “estilo egípcio”, Piranesi realizou suas premissas sobre a capacidade do artífice para distribuir a ornamentação em conformidade com a arquitetura. Assim, ele pretendia legitimar nos planos teórico e prático uma conciliação entre os preceitos dos antigos e as exigências do procedimento inventivo. Diverse Maniere se consagrou como uma obra crucial para compreender a trajetória piranesiana, consolidando as argumentações sobre a licença inventiva a partir do repertório da Antiguidade.

RESUMEN: Las variopintas artes y oficios populares latinoamericanos son apreciadas por nutrirse de raíces étnicas ancestrales, que cuentan su historia en el tejido o el material de la pieza. Entre ellos, las artesanías distinguen el color mestizo del continente. En Cuba, algunas producciones de este tipo narran el paso de los siglos en manos de artífices alejados del conocimiento académico. Los saberes creativos, transmitidos fundamentalmente de forma generacional, en la comunidad o en la familia, aportan valores históricos a artículos de uso utilitario o no. Precisamente este tema expone a una familia descendiente de inmigrantes haitianos de una zona rural del oriente del país, herederos de una tradición artesanal también procedente de Haití. Su obra resulta interesante en tanto devela cómo las prácticas familiares y comunales rurales de este grupo portador conocido como Los Richard devienen en una producción cultural (artesanal y también musical) que favorece al entorno social donde se enclavan. La perspectiva cualitativa expresa en diversas entrevistas en profundidad y la observación etnográfica nos permitió no solo ahondar en la historia y las formas de hacer artesanía de esta familia creadora, sino también divulgar los valores de su producción y sus logros como grupo familiar portador dentro del mismo municipio y las redes de la cultura de toda la región oriental de la ínsula cubana.

ABSTRACT: The different Latin American handcraft tells us stories from any material used in the piece. Their differences have been nourished by ancient ethnic roots and they are based in the diversity of each continental region. The crafts are as mixed as Latin America itself. In Cuba, this kind of good is created by subjects who are far away from the academic sector. The empirical knowledge is transmitted from one generation to the next, within the same community and/ or family, and consequently, historical value is added to this production, rather than its use value. The present paper exposed the handcrafts made by a descendant family from Haitian immigrants, known as “The Richards” who have settled down in a rural place located in the East part of Cuba. They are heir of a long tradition proceeding from this nearby country. Their familiar social practices creating their handcraft and also music contribute to the neighbor community. Qualitative perspective used through some in-depth interviews and the ethnographic observation allow not only examine their history and the different ways to make their goods, but also to expose their creative values and the importance of this family as a traditional group within the region and the nets of institutional structure of the East part of this Caribbean island.

ABSTRACT: Derby Square is a relevant public space in Recife, recognized as a historic garden and Brazilian cultural heritage due to Burle Marx’s intervention in the 1930s. However, its construction dates back to the 1920s, the period of modernization of the city, with scarce discussions, until now, about its initial design. This article aims to contribute to the historiographical process of Derby Square, focusing mainly on the 1920s and 1930s, ranging from its construction to Burle Marx’s remodeling. To this end, the technique of indirect documentation was adopted, using primary written and visual sources not yet discussed or published, allowing an investigation, recording, analysis, and interpretation of events and the formulation of a new narrative. With this research, it is understood that Derby Square can be interpreted as a palimpsest, in which the elements of the different periods that make up its history are also responsible for highlighting this garden as cultural heritage.

RESUMO: A Praça do Derby é um relevante espaço público do Recife, reconhecido como jardim histórico e patrimônio cultural brasileiro devido à intervenção de Burle Marx nos anos 1930. No entanto, sua construção remonta à década de 1920, período de modernização da cidade, pouco tendo se discutido, até o momento, sobre sua concepção inicial. Neste artigo busca-se contribuir para o processo historiográfico da Praça do Derby, com foco principalmente nas décadas de 1920 e 1930, que abrangem desde sua construção até a remodelação de Burle Marx. Para isso, foi adotada a técnica de documentação indireta, utilizando fontes primárias escritas e visuais ainda não discutidas ou publicadas, o que permite investigar, registrar, analisar e interpretar os acontecimentos, além de formular uma nova narrativa. Por meio desta pesquisa, entende-se que a Praça do Derby pode ser interpretada como um palimpsesto, no qual os elementos dos diferentes períodos que compõem sua história também são responsáveis por evidenciar esse jardim como patrimônio cultural.

ABSTRACT: In contrast to what happened in Midwestern Minas Gerais, in which the discovery of gold led to its intense occupation and exploration and the decimation of native peoples (which consolidated a mining district in Minas Gerais), the eastern portion of the territory remained even further away from the “hands” of the colonizing power for a considerable period of time. This concentrated most of the presence and resistance of the Indigenous peoples in the Minas Gerais captaincy, who survived such impetus. However, from the second half of the 18th century onward, the decline of the gold cycle and the new directions of the captaincy economic dynamics changed this situation, placing the “eastern hinterland” at the sights of the government as an alternative for boosting its economy. The advance of the invasion and occupation of Indigenous lands in the region, based on processes of war and supposed pacification, is evinced by several historical cartographic documents produced from the second half of the 19th to the 1800’s Johannine years. Analyzed in light of the events interpreted by different authors, these documents become important sources of research and understanding of what happened to the Indigenous people from eastern Minas Gerais.

RESUMO: Contrapondo-se ao que ocorreu no centro-oeste do território mineiro — onde a descoberta aurífera levou à intensa ocupação e exploração, bem como à dizimação dos povos nativos —, que se consolidou como um distrito minerador nas Minas Gerais, a porção leste do território permaneceu, por considerável período de tempo, ainda mais distante das “mãos” do poder colonizador. Isso fez com que ali se concentrasse a maior parte da presença e da resistência dos povos indígenas da capitania mineira, sobreviventes daquele ímpeto. A partir da segunda metade do século XVIII, no entanto, os novos rumos da dinâmica econômica da capitania fazem esse quadro se alterar, colocando o “sertão leste” nas vistas governamentais como alternativa para a dinamização da economia. O avanço da invasão e da ocupação de terras indígenas na região, baseado em processos de guerra e suposta pacificação, é observado por meio de diversos documentos cartográficos históricos, produzidos entre a segunda metade dos Setecentos e dos Oitocentos joaninos. Analisados à luz dos acontecimentos interpretados por diversos autores, esses documentos tornam-se importantes fontes de pesquisa e entendimento do que ocorreu aos indígenas do leste mineiro.

ABSTRACT: Right after assuming the Government of the State of São Paulo in 1959, Carlos Alberto de Carvalho Pinto began to outline what would be one of the most emblematic planning experiences in Brazil, the Action Plan of the State of São Paulo. Alongside the investments in justice, education and health, which made possible some paradigmatic works of São Paulo’s architecture, the Secretary of Agriculture acted during this planning experience by proposing a specific program for the agricultural sector, which culminated in an important collection of more than 450 works, that comprise infrastructural networks for the productive advancement. This unpublished collection sheds light on the trajectory of characters acting in the State’s technical framework that were unknown by historiography, in addition to contributing to expand the debate on the horizons of modern design, presenting architectures with a pragmatic and economic bias, as well as of a certainly pioneering character, by marking an inflection phase in the public architecture promoted by the State of São Paulo.

RESUMO: Logo após assumir o Governo do Estado de São Paulo em 1959, Carlos Alberto de Carvalho Pinto começa a delinear o que seria uma das mais emblemáticas experiências de planejamento no Brasil, o Plano de Ação do Estado de São Paulo. Ao lado dos investimentos setoriais em justiça, educação e saúde, que viabilizaram obras paradigmáticas da arquitetura paulista, a Secretaria da Agricultura atuou durante essa experiência de planejamento com a proposição de um programa específico para o setor agrícola, o que rendeu um importante acervo documental de mais de 450 obras, que compõem redes infraestruturais para o avanço produtivo. Esse acervo inédito lança luz sobre a trajetória de personagens desconhecidos pela historiografia e atuantes nos quadros técnicos do Estado, além de contribuir para ampliar o debate sobre os horizontes do desenho moderno, apresentando arquiteturas de viéses pragmático e econômico, bem como de caráter certamente pioneiro, ao marcar uma fase de inflexão na arquitetura pública promovida pelo estado de São Paulo.

ABSTRACT: In this study, we analyzed the interactions of six families visiting virtual exhibition “Aedes: which mosquito is this?” at Museu da Vida (RJ). The objectives were: to identify the most relevant interactions with the exposition and conversations between family members during the visits; analyze aspects of usability and navigability; and identify specificities of the family public regarding virtual visitation to museums and science centers. Data collection occurred by applying an online questionnaire, using the free Flashback Recorder Express program during the family’s visitation, in addition to conducting a semi-structured online interview after the visit. The data were categorized and analyzed, in the case of audiovisual data, using the Dedoose software. The results indicated a positive valuation about the visitation experience, with children playing a leading role. We noticed that the family members talk to each other to figure out how to get around and perform actions in cyberspace; they value the possibility of interactivity and learning, with interactive totems arousing the most interest and positive emotions; and they seek the exposition texts partially, despite lack of interest in reading. As for the aspect of virtuality, in addition to barriers associated with non-functioning, the immersive nature is accompanied by difficulties with usability and navigability, which, although intuitively overcome, are associated with negative emotions and could be minimize by providing more information to users.

RESUMO: Neste estudo, analisamos as interações de seis famílias em visita à exposição virtual “ Aedes : que mosquito é esse?”, do Museu da Vida (RJ). Os objetivos foram: identificar as interações com a exposição e as conversas mais relevantes dos membros da família entre si durante as visitas; analisar aspectos de usabilidade e navegabilidade; e identificar especificidades do público familiar no que concerne à visitação virtual a museus e centros de ciências. A coleta de dados foi feita por meio de aplicação de questionário on-line e por gravação da tela e dos dados audiovisuais da família, com o uso do programa de livre acesso Flashback Recorder Express, durante a realização da visita, além de realização de entrevista semiestruturada on-line após a visita. Os dados foram categorizados e analisados, no caso dos dados audiovisuais, utilizando-se o software Dedoose. Os resultados indicaram valoração positiva da experiência de visitação, com protagonismo das crianças. Notamos que os membros da família conversam entre si para descobrir como se locomover e executar ações no ciberespaço; valorizam a possibilidade de interatividade e de aprendizado, sendo os totens interativos os que mais despertam interesse e emoções positivas; e buscam os textos expositivos de forma parcial, apesar do desinteresse na leitura. Quanto ao aspecto da virtualidade, além de barreiras associadas ao não funcionamento, o caráter imersivo é acompanhado por dificuldades com a usabilidade e navegabilidade, que, ainda que superáveis intuitivamente, associam-se a emoções negativas e poderiam ser minimizadas com o fornecimento de mais informações aos usuários.

ABSTRACT Since the use of built heritage is a requisite for its conservation, this article discusses the adaptation of Catholic churches, conceived for the liturgy supported by the Council of Trent (1545-1563), to that of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965), which presuppose a symbolically and functionally different spatial layout. Issues concerning this process are presented which sometimes led to the loss of cultural assets, frequently in favor of less pertinent interventions. It presents the architectural program for celebrating the reformed liturgy in Tridentine churches, as expressed by official documents in articulation with the principles of intervention in cultural assets and illustrative examples.

RESUMO A partir da perspectiva de que a utilização do patrimônio edificado é imprescindível para a sua preservação, este artigo discute a adequação de igrejas católicas, concebidas para a liturgia do Concílio de Trento (1545-1563), à implementada após o Concílio Vaticano II (1962-1965), que pressupõe uma organização espacial simbólica e funcionalmente diversa. São apresentados alguns problemas que ocorreram nesse processo, eventualmente levando à perda de bens, frequentemente em prol de intervenções de pertinência discutível. Apresenta-se o programa necessário para a viabilização da celebração da liturgia reformada nas igrejas de concepção tridentina obtido a partir de textos oficiais, em articulação com os princípios da intervenção em bens culturais e com ilustração de exemplos.

ABSTRACT: This article presents the surveys and conclusions of post-doctoral research in Museology on the Souza Lima Collection, belonging to the collection of the Museu Histórico Nacional (National Historical Museum). Made up of 572 Christian images carved mostly from ivory, it is considered one of the most significant collections of its kind under the custody of a Brazilian public museum. The name of the collection refers to the collector José Luiz de Souza Lima, being purchased for the museum in the 1940s. Due to little information about the origins of the pieces and about the collector, the research organized information to: (1) point to the possibilities of entering the country of Catholic imaginaries in ivory via the Carreira das Indias; (2) point to the possibility of producing, in Brazil, ivory images; (3) understand what were the valuation arguments that justified the purchase of the collection; (4) point out the similarities between Souza Lima’s collecting and other collections; and (5) describe how the “oriental” element was associated with the collection in the musealization process, and how curatorial actions at the Museu Histórico Nacional are marked by a discourse that re-updates in Brazil the Portuguese orientalism. It argues that the curation of the Souza Lima Collection has been based on narratives that value the Portuguese colonial experience and reaffirm discourses with colonial perspectives. This type of approach eclipses informational aspects about the collection, such as its origins and the resistance strategies on the part of its producers, as well as ethical issues regarding the entry of these objects into the collecting and museum collection circuit.

RESUMO: Este artigo apresenta os levantamentos e conclusões da pesquisa de pós-doutorado na área da museologia sobre a Coleção Souza Lima, pertencente ao acervo do Museu Histórico Nacional. Formada por 572 imagens cristãs esculpidas em sua maioria em marfim, é considerada uma das mais significativas coleções do tipo sob a guarda de um museu público brasileiro. O nome da coleção faz referência ao colecionador José Luiz de Souza Lima, sendo comprada para o MHN nos anos 1940. Devido à pouca informação sobre as origens das peças e sobre o colecionador, a pesquisa organizou informações no sentido de: (1) apontar para as possibilidades de entrada no país das imaginárias católicas em marfim pela Carreira das Índias; (2) apontar para a possibilidade de produção, no Brasil, de imaginárias em marfim; (3) entender quais foram os argumentos de valoração que justificaram a compra da coleção; (4) apontar as semelhanças entre o colecionismo de Souza Lima e outras coleções; e (5) descrever como o elemento “oriental” foi associado à coleção no processo de musealização e como as ações de curadoria no Museu Histórico Nacional são marcadas por um discurso que reatualiza no Brasil o orientalismo português. Argumenta-se que a curadoria da Coleção Souza Lima tem sido embasada por narrativas que valorizam a experiência colonial portuguesa e reafirmam discursos com perspectivas coloniais. Esse tipo de abordagem eclipsa aspectos informacionais sobre a coleção, como suas origens e as estratégias de resistência por parte de seus produtores, além de questões éticas referentes à entrada desses objetos no circuito do colecionismo e das coleções museológicas.

ABSTRACT This article analyzes the role of open-air museums in the preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage and their capacity to transform the urban landscape. These institutions are important agents for preserving culture and history, promoting the cultural identity of cities. The methodology involved consultations of technical documents, bibliographic research, and documentary analysis. Open-air museums provide a unique experience for visitors, allowing direct contact with artworks in a natural environment. The management of these institutions is essential to ensure the preservation of cultural heritage and the protection of the urban landscape. In this regard, it is important for local authorities and communities to be involved in the management of these institutions in order to promote the preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage. Thus, the aim is to provide a broader understanding of the role of open-air museums in landscape transformation and the promotion of cultural identity in cities.

RESUMO Este artigo analisa o papel dos museus a céu aberto na preservação e valorização do patrimônio cultural e sua capacidade de transformar a paisagem urbana. Essas instituições são importantes agentes de preservação da cultura e história, promovendo a identidade cultural das cidades. A metodologia envolveu consultas a documentos técnicos, pesquisa bibliográfica e documental. Os museus a céu aberto proporcionam uma experiência única aos visitantes, permitindo o contato direto com as obras em um ambiente natural. A gestão dessas instituições é essencial para garantir a preservação do patrimônio cultural e a proteção da paisagem urbana. Nesse sentido, é importante que as autoridades locais e as comunidades estejam envolvidas na gestão dessas instituições, a fim de promover a preservação e valorização do patrimônio cultural. Com isso, busca-se fornecer compreensão mais ampla do papel dos museus a céu aberto na transformação da paisagem e na promoção da identidade cultural das cidades.

ABSTRACT The toponym Patos appears on several 17th-century maps to identify an area on the southern coast of Brazil. This study showed the characteristics of social agents, spaces, economic practices, and power relations that can be analyzed in view of the current demands for approaches that promote local people and spaces at the center of the analysis of global dynamics. Patos offered a site of disputes among priests, colonial authorities, colonists, sertanistas, Indigenous peoples, traders, privateers, and characters who played more than one of these roles. This study defends the pertinence of Fernand Braudel’s unit of world-economy to analyze the globality of these local dynamics and propose that the spatial dynamics of this unit of analysis be understood in their complex interaction among the diverse and conflicting space-time that constitutes the nature of the capitalist world-economy in the Modern Era.

RESUMO O topônimo Patos aparece em diversos mapas do século XVII para identificar uma área do litoral sul do Brasil. O estudo da bibliografia e da documentação - crônicas, correspondências, documentação administrativa, mapas - permitiu desvendar características de agentes sociais, espaços, práticas econômicas e relações de poder que podem ser analisadas atendendo às atuais demandas por abordagens que promovam pessoas e espaços locais ao centro da análise das dinâmicas globais. Patos foi local de disputas entre sacerdotes, autoridades coloniais, colonos, sertanistas, povos indígenas, comerciantes, corsários e personagens que fizeram mais de um desses papéis. Defende-se a pertinência da unidade de análise economia-mundo, de Fernand Braudel, para analisar a globalidade dessas dinâmicas locais, ao mesmo tempo que se propõe que a dinâmica espacial dessa unidade de análise seja compreendida na complexa interação entre os diversos e conflitantes espaços-tempo que constituem a natureza da economia-mundo europeia na época moderna.

ABSTRACT This study delves into the historical journey of the “Dr. João Barbosa Rodrigues” Botanical Museum, a space of memory located within the São Paulo Botanical Garden. It discusses its historical origins and material, institutional, and contextual transformations up to the present day. This space has seen advancements, setbacks, challenges, and potentialities as a small museum of natural history. It has undergone three reconfigurations of its physical and internal structures, gradually modernizing its museum concept while retaining its identity as a museum with a unified focus on botany. It reopened in early 2020 and is currently operating within a subtle boundary established between the public and private sectors due to the concession of the São Paulo Botanical Garden’ operation to private initiatives, although it remains under public control. In this renewed museum, one can observe its contribution as a space of social responsibility, imbued with meanings and functions that evoke imagery by its memory spaces related to the concerns of its founder, the botanist Frederico Carlos Hoehne. Over its 80 years of existence, this museum has evolved from a neutral space to one engaged in the conservation of nature and contemporary environmental issues. Its exhibition now contextualizes these themes, becoming a narrative museum that responds to everchanging local challenges. Its pedagogical role is vital in an inclusive and equitable society, promoting education and learning. The museum constitutes a contemporary space, transcending its traditional functions of preservation, conservation, and research, serving society by educational initiatives on botany, nature conservation, and environmental sustainability.

RESUMO Este trabalho faz uma incursão sobre o Museu Botânico “Dr. João Barbosa Rodrigues”, um espaço de memória localizado no Jardim Botânico de São Paulo, e dialoga sobre suas origens históricas e transformações materiais, institucionais e contextuais até os dias atuais. Tal espaço teve seus avanços, recuos, desafios e potencialidades como pequeno museu de história natural. Passou por três reformulações de estruturas físicas externas e internas, aos poucos modernizando seu conceito museal, sem deixar sua identidade de museu de discurso unitário voltado à botânica. O museu reabriu no início de 2020 e tem estado atualmente em uma fronteira sutil estabelecida pelo público-privado em função da concessão de operação do Jardim Botânico de São Paulo à iniciativa privada, permanecendo ainda sob controle público. Vê-se nesse museu renovado sua contribuição como espaço de responsabilidade social de significações e funções que proporcionam o imagético por meio de seus espaços de memória relacionados às preocupações de seu idealizador, o botânico Frederico Carlos Hoehne. Em seus 82 anos de existência, o museu evoluiu de um espaço neutro para um ambiente de engajamento na conservação da natureza e nas questões ambientais contemporâneas. Sua exposição agora contextualiza esses temas, tornando-o um museu narrativo que responde aos desafios locais em constante mudança. Sua função pedagógica é essencial em uma sociedade inclusiva e equitativa, promovendo o ensino e a aprendizagem. O museu se apresenta como um espaço atual, indo além das tradicionais funções de preservação, conservação e pesquisa, servindo a sociedade por meio de iniciativas educacionais sobre botânica, conservação da natureza e sustentabilidade ambiental.

ABSTRACT The article focuses on the presence and visibility of Latin-American artists of the Centre national des arts plastiques (Cnap), in Paris- France. It is the first and most perennial world initiative to create a state fund of works dedicated to “living art,” an initiative that began in the end of the eighteenth century and persists to this day. The study of the temporality of the entrance of works in the collection, pointing to the importance of the decade of 1980, it contributes to the history of the global art by repositioning the institutional impact of the exhibition “Magiciens de la terre,” and the centrality of Paris to the Latin-American artists, especially during exile. In this ample context, we discuss the invisibility of women artists from the corpus of works in the Cnap.

RESUMO O artigo aborda a presença e a visibilidade de artistas latino-americanos na coleção do Centre national des arts plastiques (Cnap), Paris-França. Trata-se da primeira e mais perene iniciativa mundial de criação de um fundo estatal de obras dedicadas à arte viva, uma iniciativa que surgiu em finais do século XVIII e persiste até hoje. O estudo das temporalidades de ingresso das obras na coleção, apontando para a importância da década de 1980, contribui para a história da arte global ao reposicionar o impacto institucional da mostra “Magiciens de la terre”, bem como da centralidade de Paris para os artistas latino-americanos, sobretudo em tempos de exílio. Dentro desse amplo contexto, discute-se a invisibilidade das mulheres artistas nos circuitos latino-americanos a partir do corpus de obras presentes no Cnap.

RESUME Cet article traite de la présence et de la visibilité des artistes latino-américains dans la collection du Centre national des arts plastiques (Cnap), à Paris, France. Datant de la fin du XVIIIe siècle et encore en fonctionnement, il s’agit de la première et la plus pérenne initiative mondiale de création d’un fonds d’État pour les œuvres dédiées à l’art vivant, qui a commencé à la fin du XVIIIe siècle et perdure jusqu’à aujourd’hui. L’étude des temporalités d’acquisition des œuvres, soulignant l’importance des années 1980, apporte une contribution à l’histoire de l’art mondial en repositionnant l’impact institutionnel de l’exposition « Magiciens de la terre », ainsi que la centralité de Paris pour les artistes latino-américains au temps d’exil. Dans ce cadre, on discute de l’invisibilité des artistes femmes dans les circuits latino-américains à partir de l’ensemble d’œuvres en exhibition au Cnap.

ABSTRACT This article focuses on the discussion of the results obtained with non-invasive image and spectroscopic analyzes (to determine chemical elements and compounds) on the six paintings by the German artist, naturalized Italian, Massimo Campigli, that belong to the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of São Paulo (MAC USP). Aspects of the artist’s trajectory, the plastic solutions of the artworks, along with the analyzes made with the spectroscopic techniques of energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (ED-XRF), Raman, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and the imaging techniques of visible photography (VIS), raking light (RAK), transmitted light (TRANS), visible ultraviolet fluorescence (UVF), infrared reflectography (IRR), and radiography (RAD) offer important information on the artist and on his work. These non-invasive analyzes were carried out in the museum itself with portable equipment from the Laboratory of Archaeometry and Applied Sciences to Cultural Heritage (LACAPC) of the Physics Institute (IF) of USP. Overall, the results obtained corroborate with Campigli’s testimonies about his artistic practice, as well as those of people who saw him working in his studio. His palette choice, composed by natural and synthetic pigments, mostly whites and paints with earthy tones, and his creative steps of creating and recreating the paintings, reusing canvases many times, were proven to be true with the analytical investigations.

RESUMO O presente artigo discute os resultados obtidos com as análises de imagens e espectroscópicas (para determinação dos elementos e compostos químicos) não invasivas realizadas em seis pinturas do artista alemão, naturalizado italiano, Massimo Campigli pertencentes ao acervo do Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Universidade de São Paulo (MAC USP). Os aspectos da trajetória do artista, as soluções plásticas das obras somadas às análises feitas com técnicas espectroscópicas de fluorescência de raios X por dispersão de energia (FRX-DE), Raman, e infravermelho com transformada de Fourier (FTIR), e com técnicas de imageamento como fotografia sob luz visível (VIS), luz rasante (RAS), luz transmitida (TRANS), fluorescência visível induzida por radiação ultravioleta (UV-VIS), reflectografia de infravermelho (RIV) e radiografia (RAD) fornecem importantes informações sobre o artista e sua obra. As técnicas analíticas não invasivas foram realizadas no próprio museu e com equipamentos portáteis do Laboratório de Arqueometria e Ciências Aplicadas ao Patrimônio Cultural (LACAPC) do Instituto de Física (IF) da USP. No geral, os resultados obtidos corroboram com os testemunhos de Campigli sobre o seu fazer artístico, assim como daqueles que o viram trabalhando no ateliê. A sua escolha de paleta, composta por pigmentos naturais e sintéticos, na sua maior parte brancos e tintas com tonalidades terrosas, e suas etapas produtivas de criar e recriar as pinturas, muitas vezes reutilizando telas, foram comprovadas através das investigações analíticas.

RESUMEN: La censura sucede en contextos donde se establecen discursos dominantes que invisibilizan memorias subterráneas, de tal manera, as obras de arte actúan como vehículos de memorias mediante sus símbolos externos. La investigación presenta casos de estudio sobre la censura de la exposición individual ‘El Tercer Mundo’ de MAx Provenzano en el Museo de Arte de Valencia en Venezuela y la clausura inesperada de la exposición colectiva ‘ Queermuseu: Cartografias da diferença na arte brasileira ’ en el Santander Cultural en Brasil, en los años de 2015 y 2017, respectivamente. Se analizaron los mecanismos de censura para identificar las memorias subterráneas en exposiciones de arte, como práctica discursiva para determinar el control de la memoria cultural a través de conflictos de poder. Además, se analizaron las formaciones discursivas e ideológicas para conocer los elementos sobre las acciones de censura, para comprender las narrativas divergentes que reflexionan sobre las diferentes identidades y memorias de las regiones latinoamericanas.

ABSTRACT: Censorship occurs in contexts where dominant discourses establish the invisibility of subterranean memories; thus, artworks act as vehicles of memories by their external symbols. The research presents case studies on the censorship of the individual exhibition ‘ El Tercer Mundo ’ by MAx Provenzano at the Museum of Art in Valencia, Venezuela, and the unexpected closure of the collective exhibition ‘ Queermuseu: Cartografias da diferença na arte brasileira ’ at the Santander Cultural in Brazil, in the years 2015 and 2017, respectively. The mechanisms of censorship were analyzed to identify subterranean memories in art exhibitions, as discursive practices to determine control over cultural memory through power conflicts. Furthermore, discursive and ideological formations were analyzed to understand the elements behind the acts of censorship, in order to understand divergent narratives reflecting on the different identities and memories of Latin American regions.
