Fruits of Schinus terebinthifolia Raddi were investigated. A fast and efficient method for the simultaneous determination of 11 polyphenolic substances by high performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector (HPLC-DAD) was applied. Limits of quantification ranged between 0.78 and 3.14 mg L-1. High concentrations of kaempferol were found. An exploratory evaluation was performed using principal component analysis (PCA) for fruit origin differentiation. Total phenolic content (TPC) ranged from 274 to 517 mg GAE 100 g-1; total flavonoid content (TFC) ranged from 101 to 283 mg QE 100 g-1. In vitro analyses showed that antioxidant capacity with 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) ranged from 1.7 to 7 µM DPPH 100 g-1. The bacteriostatic and bactericidal effect were also evaluated against: Bacillus subtilis, B. cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella choleraesuis, Candida albicans and C. glabrata, using broth microdilution assay. It can be inferred that S. terebinthifolia Raddi fruit has the potential to act as an ally in the search for new alternatives in the action against pathogens, and it can be used as a potential natural antioxidant and antimicrobial agent. Abstract Background: The relationship between viral infections and host factors holds high hopes for identifying the role of Interferon Lambda 3 (IFNL3) and Interleukin 6 (IL-6) polymorphisms in the development of Chronic Liver Disease (CLD) in patients infected with hepatitis Delta virus (HDV) in the Western Brazilian Amazon. Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted with a cohort of 40 chronic HDV patients, 27 with CLD and 13 without evident liver damage. Biological samples from the participants were analyzed using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique, followed by sequencing by the automated Sanger method. Results: The rs8099917 T allele, from the IFNL3 gene, showed a higher frequency in both groups; however, it was not possible to establish an association with HDV infection [OR = 1.42 (0.42 - 4.75; p = 0.556 (95% CI). For IL-6, the rs1800795 G allele was superior to rs1800795 C. Analyzing both distributions in the studied groups, any association with HDV was absent (p > 0.05). Conclusion: The results suggest that the rs8099917 T/G (IFNL3) and rs1800795 G/C (IL-6) polymorphisms are not associated with the evolution of HDV in the studied population. RESUMEN: Este estudio tiene como objetivo analizar las evidencias científicas sobre la educación de las relaciones étnico-raciales en el campo de la educación profesional técnica en el nivel secundario. Se trata de una investigación exploratoria y cualitativa, cuya técnica integradora de revisión bibliográfica permitió la selección sistemática de informes en seis etapas. Inicialmente, la búsqueda de artículos a través de SciELO, CAPES Journal y Google scholar de los términos raza, etnia, factor racial, racismo, prejuicio racial, discriminación racial, relaciones étnico-raciales, educación profesional y tecnológica, y educación profesional, junto con operadores booleanos, resultó en 11.336 títulos, y después de la selección, se incluyeron 11 artículos. Para la discusión, fueron utilizadas las siguientes categorías: institucionalización de la Ley nº 10.639/2003 y currículo; racismo estructural; ley de cuotas; núcleo de estudios, investigación y extensión afrobrasileños e indígenas; experiencias pedagógicas sobre diversidad étnico-racial; las percepciones de estudiantes y docentes sobre la diversidad étnico-racial en el currículo; y el papel de las docentes para la formación profesional de las mujeres negras. Se constató que hay un largo camino por recorrer para la institucionalización de las Leyes 10.639/03 y 11.645/08 en los currículos y en las prácticas de enseñanza-aprendizaje de la formación profesional, reforzado por las percepciones negativas de estudiantes y docentes sobre la discriminación étnica- racial. diversidad en los currículos de las instituciones de educación vocacional y tecnológica, especialmente cuando se trata de cursos integrados. Sin embargo, las leyes de cuotas, la implementación del NEABI y las diferentes experiencias docentes se destacaron como acciones afirmativas que promovieron la igualdad racial. ABSTRACT: This study aims to analyze the scientific evidence on ethnic-racial relations education in the scope of technical professional education at the secondary level. This is an exploratory and qualitative research, whose integrative literature review technique allowed the systematic selection of reports in six stages. Initially, the search of articles through SciELO, CAPES Journal, and Google Scholar from the terms race, ethnicity, race factor, racism, racial prejudice, racial discrimination, ethnic-racial relations, professional and technological education, and professional education, along with Boolean operators, resulted in 11,336 titles, and after screening, 11 articles were included. For discussion, the following categories were used: institutionalization of Law nº 10.639/2003 and curriculum; structural racism; quota law; nucleus of Afro-Brazilian and indigenous studies, research and extension; pedagogical experiences about ethnic-racial diversity; students' and teachers' perceptions of ethnic-racial diversity in the curriculum; and the role of teachers for the professional education of black women. It was found that there is a long way to go for the institutionalization of Laws 10,639/03 and 11,645/08 in the curricula and in the teaching-learning practices of vocational training, reinforced by the negative perceptions of students and teachers about ethnic-racial diversity in the curricula. of professional and technological education institutions, especially when it comes to integrated courses. Trata-se de pesquisa exploratória e qualitativa, cuja técnica de revisão integrativa da literatura permitiu a seleção sistemática dos relatos em seis etapas. Inicialmente, a busca dos artigos através do SciELO, Periódico CAPES e Google acadêmico a partir dos termos raça, etnia, fator raça, racismo, preconceito racial, discriminação racial, relações étnico-raciais, educação profissional e tecnológica, e educação profissional, juntamente com operadores booleanos, resultou em 11.336 títulos, e, após a triagem, 11 artigos foram incluídos. Para discussão, foram utilizadas as categorias: institucionalização da Lei nº 10.639/2003 e currículo; racismo estrutural; lei das cotas; núcleo de estudos, pesquisas e extensão afro-brasileiros e indígenas; experiências pedagógicas acerca da diversidade étnico-racial; percepções dos alunos e professores acerca da diversidade étnico-racial no currículo; e a atuação dos professores para educação profissionalizante de mulheres negras. Constatou-se que há um longo percurso a se percorrer para institucionalização das Leis 10.639/03 e 11.645/08 nos currículos e nas práticas de ensino-aprendizagem da formação profissionalizante, reforçado pelas percepções negativas dos alunos e professores sobre diversidade étnico-racial nos currículos das instituições educação profissional e tecnológica, principalmente quando se trata dos cursos integrados. Resumen El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la seguridad de los profesionales de la salud que actuaron en la lucha contra la pandemia de COVID-19 en 2020 en los servicios de salud brasileños. Entre junio y septiembre de 2020 se realizó una encuesta en línea con profesionales de la salud de instituciones públicas y privadas brasileñas, basada en la evaluación y gestión del riesgo de exposición de los trabajadores de la salud en el contexto del virus COVID-19, de la Organización Mundial de la Salud, y se analizaron 2.832 registros. Raza/color y categoría profesional fueron variables relacionadas con el aumento de casos de COVID-19 entre profesionales. Los que se autodeclararon no blancos, técnicos y auxiliares de enfermería tuvieron una mayor probabilidad de resultados positivos, lo que indica una mayor susceptibilidad a la infección relacionada con el nivel socioeconómico y/o categoría profesional y un papel desempeñado en la atención al paciente. Las variables estructura de las unidades de salud, ubicación, prueba y disponibilidad de equipo de protección personal se relacionaron con el grado de riesgo de contraer la enfermedad. Se destaca la importancia de garantizar insumos y equipos a los profesionales de la salud, especialmente en un contexto pandémico y entre aquellos con bajo nivel socioeconómico que trabajan en primera línea. Los riesgos en situaciones de emergencia y escasez deben ser monitoreados prospectivamente, ajustándose a las iniciativas de seguridad del paciente. Abstract The objective of this study was to evaluate the safety of health professionals who worked in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 in Brazilian health services. An online survey was conducted between June and September 2020, with health professionals from Brazilian public and private institutions, based on the Health workers exposure risk assessment and management in the context of COVID-19 virus, from the World Health Organization, and 2,832 records were analyzed. Race/color and professional category were variables related to the increase of covid-19 cases among professionals. Those who self-declared themselves non-white, technical and nursing assistants had a higher chance of positive results, indicating a higher susceptibility to infection related to socioeconomic level and/or professional category and a role played in patient care. The variables structure of the health units, location, test and availability of personal protective equipment were related to the degree of risk of contracting the disease. The importance of ensuring inputs and equipment to health professionals is highlighted, especially in a pandemic context and among those with low socioeconomic level who work on the front line. Risks in emergency and scarcity situations should be prospectively monitored, adjusting to patient safety initiatives. Resumo Objetivou-se avaliar a segurança dos profissionais de saúde que atuaram no combate à pandemia de covid-19 em 2020 nos serviços de saúde brasileiros. Realizou-se inquérito on line, conduzido entre junho e setembro de 2020, com profissionais de saúde de instituições públicas e privadas brasileiras, com base no questionário Health workers exposure risk assessment and management in the context of COVID-19 virus, da Organização Mundial de Saúde, sendo analisados 2.832 registros. Raça/cor e categoria profissional foram variáveis relacionadas ao aumento de casos de covid-19 dentre os profissionais. Os que se autodeclararam não brancos, técnicos e auxiliares de enfermagem tiveram chance maior de resultado positivo, indicando maior suscetibilidade à infecção relacionada ao nível socioeconômico e/ou categoria profissional e papel desempenhado no cuidado ao paciente. As variáveis estrutura das unidades de saúde, localização, teste e disponibilidade de equipamentos de proteção individual relacionaram-se ao grau de risco de contrair a doença. Ressalta-se a importância da garantia de insumos e equipamentos aos profissionais de saúde, sobretudo em um contexto pandêmico e entre aqueles com baixo nível socioeconômico que atuam na linha de frente. ABSTRACT: The growing demand for coconut water has led to the expansion of irrigated green dwarf coconut cultivation; however, the inefficient use of water has contributed to the degradation and waste of water resources, making fundamental studies aiming to optimize the use of water. The objective of this study was to determine the physical productivity and water productivity of green dwarf coconut palms under the climatic conditions of Santa Izabel do Pará, eastern Amazonia, Brazil. The experiment was carried out from 2020 to 2021, in a green dwarf coconut plantation spaced 7.5 m x 7.5 m in a triangle, at Fazenda Reunidas Sococo, with an area of approximately 7 ha. Water productivity (WP) was determined both in terms of fruit production (WPf) and coconut water production (WPca), through the relationship of fruit productivity (fruit biomass and water volume) with accumulated evapotranspiration. The dwarf coconut tree presented a total production of 105 and 186 fruits plant-1 and 37 and 62 L plant-1 of coconut water in the years 2020 and 2021. The largest volumes of water and the highest weights occurred during the wettest season. WPf was of 1.87 fruits m-3 (2020) and 2.94 fruits m-3 (2021) and WPca 0.66 L m-3 (2020) and 0.98 L m-3 (2021). RESUMO: A crescente demanda por água de coco tem ocasionado a expansão do cultivo de coqueiro-anão-verde irrigado, no entanto, o uso ineficiente da água tem contribuído com a degradação e desperdício dos recursos hídricos, tornando fundamental estudos que visem otimizar o uso da água. Objetivou-se determinar a produtividade física e a produtividade da água do coqueiro-anão-verde, nas condições climáticas de Santa Izabel do Pará, leste da Amazônia, Brasil. O experimento foi realizado no período de 2020 a 2021, em um plantio de coqueiro-anão-verde em espaçamento 7,5 m x 7,5 m em triângulo, na Fazenda Reunidas Sococo, apresentando uma área de aproximadamente 7 ha. A produtividade da água (PA) foi determinada tanto em termos de produção de frutos (PAf) como de produção de água de coco (PAac), através da relação da produtividade de frutos (biomassa do fruto e volume de água) com a evapotranspiração acumulada. O coqueiro-anão apresentou uma produção total de 105 e de 186 frutos planta-1 e de 37 e de 62 L planta-1 de água de coco nos anos de 2020 e 2021. RESUMO: O artigo tem como objetivo debater questões interpretativas de exegese sobre o texto do auto Na Festa de São Lourenço, de 1587, escrito pelo missionário e humanista S. José de Anchieta (1534-1597), no contexto da América portuguesa quinhentista. A obra foi encenada na comunidade indígena de São Lourenço em Niterói, ainda no século XVI, e é um dos principais registros da produção intelectual do período colonial. Modernamente, o texto do autor foi reeditado por Maria de Lourdes de Paula Martins, em um extenso volume com as Poesias de Anchieta (Anchieta, 1989 [1954]), e por Armando Cardoso, na edição dos Monumenta Anchietana (Anchieta, 1977). Nossa interpretação crítica terá como escopo retomar a análise desenvolvida por Câmara Cascudo, na obra Antologia do Folclore Brasileiro (2002 [1944]), em que cita os textos de Anchieta e de cronistas do século XVI como fonte para os estudos de folclore no Brasil. Buscamos problematizar como a interpretação folclórica aproxima-se ao método da exegese da disciplina de Crítica Textual. Por fim, em perspectiva interdisciplinar com a disciplina de Historiografia da Linguística, buscaremos evidenciar como o “pensamento linguístico” (linguistic thought) (Swiggers, 2013; 2019) de Anchieta estava vinculado ao estudo de tradições populares indígenas na América portuguesa quinhentista, o que conceituamos como um Folclore brasílico colonial. ABSTRACT: The article aims to discuss interpretative exegesis questions about the text of the play Na Festa de São Lourenço, from 1587, written by the missionary and humanist S. José de Anchieta (1534-1597), in the context of sixteenth-century Portuguese America. The work was staged in the indigenous community of São Lourenço in Niterói, still in the 16th century, and is one of the main records of intellectual production in the colonial period. Modernly, the author's text has been republished by Maria de Lourdes de Paula Martins, in an extensive volume with Poesias de Anchieta (Anchieta, 1989 [1954]), and by Armando Cardoso, in the edition of Monumenta Anchietana (Anchieta, 1977). Our critical interpretation will have the scope of resuming the analysis developed by Câmara Cascudo, in the work Antologia do Folclore Brasileiro (2002 [1944]), in which the interpreter cites the texts of Anchieta and chroniclers of the 16th century as a source for folklore studies in Brazil. We seek to problematize how folkloric interpretation approaches the exegesis method of the Textual Criticism discipline. Finally, in an interdisciplinary perspective with the discipline of Historiography of Linguistics, we will seek to show how Anchieta’s “linguistic thought” (Swiggers, 2013; 2019) was linked to the study of indigenous popular traditions in sixteenth-century Portuguese America, which we conceptualize as a colonial Brazilian folkcore. ABSTRACT The limited temporal completeness and taxonomic accuracy of species lists, made available in a traditional manner in scientific publications, has always represented a problem. These lists are invariably limited to a few taxonomic groups and do not represent up-to-date knowledge of all species and classifications. In this context, the Brazilian megadiverse fauna is no exception, and the Catálogo Taxonômico da Fauna do Brasil (CTFB) (http://fauna.jbrj.gov.br/), made public in 2015, represents a database on biodiversity anchored on a list of valid and expertly recognized scientific names of animals in Brazil. The CTFB is updated in near real time by a team of more than 800 specialists. By January 1, 2024, the CTFB compiled 133,691 nominal species, with 125,138 that were considered valid. Most of the valid species were arthropods (82.3%, with more than 102,000 species) and chordates (7.69%, with over 11,000 species). These taxa were followed by a cluster composed of Mollusca (3,567 species), Platyhelminthes (2,292 species), Annelida (1,833 species), and Nematoda (1,447 species). All remaining groups had less than 1,000 species reported in Brazil, with Cnidaria (831 species), Porifera (628 species), Rotifera (606 species), and Bryozoa (520 species) representing those with more than 500 species. BACKGROUND In response to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, Brazil authorised the Astra Zeneca/Fiocruz vaccine in January 2021. As the Delta variant emerged in May 2021, interval between vaccine doses was adjusted. By September 2021, the Brazilian National Immunisation Program recommended a booster dose for individuals over 70, and later expanded the recommendation to all adults. OBJECTIVES Assess the equivalence of IgG antibody response against the Covid-19 S protein before and approximately 28 days after the third dose of a Covid-19 recombinant vaccine. Two groups received initial two doses with intervals of eight and 12 weeks. METHODS This is a phase IV clinical study, uncontrolled, non-randomised. The study proposes calculating the ratio of geometric means titres (GMT) 28 days after the third dose, with a target ratio of confidence interval (CI) between 0.77 and 1.3. FINDINGS In the primary endpoint, there was no equivalence between the eight- and 12-week intervals with a slight variation favouring the eight-week group. Post-third dose, both groups showed increases titres at 28 days, three months, six months and 12 months. Both groups responded similarly to Delta and Omicron BA.1, with a more significant increase for Delta. MAIN CONCLUSIONS The study showed strong and consistent immune response in all age groups receiving the Covid-19 recombinant vaccine. Abstract Amylases, crucial in various industries such as food, textile, and biofuels, require optimized production and biochemical characterization. Thus, this study aimed to produce amylases from Rhizopus sp. I 1.2.1, characterize the cultivation conditions and the synthesized enzyme. The fungus was molecularly identified with 99.06% homology in the LSU gene, 98.08% identity in the ITS region, and placed phylogenetically closer to Rhizopus arrhizus CBS 112,07. The LSU gene and ITS region sequences were deposited in GenBank. The CP medium was optimal for amylase production by Rhizopus arrhizus, with peak activity on the 6th day. Supplementation with urea significantly increased amylolytic activity by 110-fold. CP salts outperformed other salts in enzyme production, achieving a maximum amylase activity of 15.5 U/ml. The pH 6.0 was optimal for amylase production, with higher specific activity at pH 5.0. Pumpkin peel and pineapple peel were the best carbon sources for amylase production with an amylolytic activity of 18 and 16 U/mL, respectively. The amylase production showed a significant increase when pineapple peel was used in the presence of glucose 0.5% showing an activity of 22.4 U/mL, representing a 1.5- and 1.6-fold increase over the control. The optimal reaction of the amylase was observed at pH 6.0 and 60 °C. The enzyme remained stable for 240 minutes at 50-55 °C and at pH 4.0-7.0. Amylase was inhibited by glucose concentration and certain salts, but EDTA and K2SO4 increased activity by 25%. These results suggest industrial potential based on residual carbon source use, cultivation conditions, and crude enzyme stability. Abstract Ulcerative and necrotizing dermatitis (UND) is a cutaneous disease caused by traumatic skin lesions on the necks of sea turtles. In this study we report the first findings of UND in free-ranging olive ridley turtles (Lepidochelys olivacea) in La Escobilla, Oaxaca, Mexico. We found several skin injury conditions on the necks of nesting turtles in the arribada events of the 2021 nesting season. Samples from injuries were taken with sterile swabs for bacteriological analyses, and antimicrobial resistance profiles were studied. Of the 525 turtles examined, 278 had injuries on the back of the neck (52.9% prevalence). Two bacteria (Pseudomonassp. andStaphylococcussp.) and 1 fungus (Candidasp.) were identified in 8 turtles with UND. Ciprofloxacin was the only antibiotic with high inhibition ofStaphylococcussp. andPseudomonassp. We recommend initiating a continuous monitoring program to follow the occurrence of dermatitis disease inL. olivaceain subsequent years to better document prevalence and progression of skin injuries in more individuals.
Resumen La dermatitis ulcerativa y necrotizante (DUN) es una enfermedad cutánea causada por lesiones traumáticas de la piel sobre el cuello de las tortugas marinas. En este estudio reportamos los primeros hallazgos de DUN en tortugas golfina (Lepidochelys olivacea) de vida libre en La Escobilla, Oaxaca, México. Encontramos diferentes condiciones de lesiones de piel sobre el cuello de tortugas anidantes en los eventos de arribada de la temporada de anidación de 2021. Tomamos muestras de las lesiones con hisopos estériles para los análisis bacteriológicos y estudiamos los perfiles de resistencia antimicrobiana. De las 525 tortugas examinadas, 278 presentaron lesiones en el dorso del cuello (prevalencia del 52.9%). Identificamos 2 bacterias (Pseudomonassp. yStaphylococcussp.) y 1 hongo (Candidasp.) en 8 tortugas con DUN. La ciprofloxacina fue el único antibiótico con alta inhibición deStaphylococcussp. yPseudomonassp. Recomendamos iniciar un programa de monitoreo continuo para el seguimiento de la ocurrencia de la dermatitis enL. olivaceaen los siguientes años, con el fin de documentar de mejor manera la prevalencia y la progresión de las lesiones de la piel en más individuos.

ABSTRACT The violence experienced by children and adolescents in their living space, which is both seen as natural and invisible, impacts the way in which they relate to their peers, their families and other intergenerational relationships. In order to analyze the role of secondary school in the social appropriation of the neighborhood in which they live and thereby strengthen a culture of peace, a participatory diagnosis was carried out with adolescents on violence in the social-spatial environment. The investigative process was based on ethnography and the participatory-action-research based on the design of social cartographies. One hundred and twenty-four adolescents from a public secondary school in the city of Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico participated. The participants identified the school as a key space for coexistence and likewise, options were visualized to promote education for peace from the school curriculum and daily life in the classroom.
RESUMEN La naturalización e invisibilización de las violencias que viven infancias y adolescencias en su entorno, impacta en la forma en la que se relacionan con sus pares, sus familias y en otras relaciones intergeneracionales. Con el objetivo de analizar el papel de la escuela secundaria en la apropiación social del barrio que habitan y explorar condiciones para fortalecer una cultura de paz, se llevó a cabo un diagnóstico participativo con adolescencias sobre las violencias en su entorno socioespacial. El proceso investigativo estuvo basado en la etnografía y en la investigación-acción-participativa a partir del diseño de cartografías sociales. Participaron 124 adolescentes de una secundaria pública de la ciudad de Morelia, Michoacán, México. Las y los participantes identificaron la escuela como un espacio clave para la convivencia; asimismo, se visualizaron opciones para promover la educación para la paz desde el curriculum escolar y la vida cotidiana en las aulas.

La escritura de textos académicos en la universidad: una reflexión desde la experiencia docente en la Universidad Pedagógica Nacional

Resumen El objetivo principal de este ensayo es abordar los procesos de enseñanza- aprendizaje de escritura en la universidad desde el enfoque de la literacidad académica crítica (Cassany y Castellà, 2010; Cassany, 2015; y Barton y Hamilton, 2004). Esta cuestión se aborda, en particular, a partir de la experiencia propia como docente con profesoras y profesores de educación básica que estudian en la Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (UPN), en la Licenciatura en Educación Preescolar y la Maestría en Educación Básica. Se plantea que el problema estriba en que, en la institución universitaria, no se fomentan prácticas de escritura porque no se pondera su carácter y potencial epistémico; es decir, no se considera que en los procesos de escritura también se construyen y se transforman los conocimientos. Actualmente, la enseñanza de la escritura en las instituciones educativas no parte de un enfoque que se ocupe de generar una identidad de autoría en sus estudiantes, que les permita posicionarse, desde sus discursos, frente a su realidad, que considere la escritura como un medio para generar conocimiento y también para transformarlo. Si bien la implementación de acciones a título individual, desde las prácticas de las personas docentes, son importantes, lo son más las institucionales; por ejemplo, reestructurar los programas educativos para que desde lo curricular se enfatice en los procesos de literacidad académica crítica. Algunas preguntas que guían el escrito son: ¿cuáles problemas respecto a la literacidad académica enfrentan las profesoras y los profesores de educación básica que estudian licenciatura y posgrado en la Universidad Pedagógica Nacional?, ¿cómo se han afrontado esas dificultades desde la trayectoria profesional como docente de educación superior? y ¿qué sugerencias se pueden formular para mejorar los procesos de escritura del estudiantado universitario?
Abstract This paper aims to address the teaching-learning processes of writing at the university from the perspective of critical academic literacy (Cassany and Castellà, 2010; Cassany, 2015; and Barton & Hamilton, 2004). This question is addressed based on the investigator's experience as a professor of education teachers who study at the National Pedagogical University (UPN), in the Bachelor's Degree in Preschool Education and the Master's Degree in Basic Education. This research suggests that the problem lies in the fact that writing practices are not encouraged in the university institution, this is because their character and epistemic potential are not considered; in other words, it is not believed that knowledge is also built and transformed in writing processes. Currently, the teaching of writing in educational institutions does not start from an approach that deals with generating an identity of authorship in their students, or that allows them to position themselves from their speeches in front of their reality, it does not even consider writing as a means to generate and transform knowledge. Although the implementation of individual actions from the teachers' practices is relevant, the institutional ones are more so; for example, to restructure the educational programs so that from the curricular the processes of critical academic literacy are emphasized. Some questions that guide this research are: what problems regarding academic literacy do basic education teachers who study undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the National Pedagogical University face? How have they faced these difficulties in their professional career as a higher education teacher? And, what suggestions can be made to improve the writing processes of university students?

ABSTRACT Objectives: To determine the predisposition to receive this vaccine against SARS-CoV-2. Materials and methods: An observational cross-sectional design was applied in the adult population of Paraguay between May and October 2022. The previously validated questionnaire of Kotta et al was applied, which was disseminated through social networks. Results: 303 respondents were included, with a mean age of 34 ± 12 years and predominance of the female sex (64.0%). In the sample, 51.8% suffered from COVID-19 and 97.3% have already received at least one dose of the vaccine. It was detected that 58.4% accepted the vaccine, 17.8% hesitated to receive it and 23.7% rejected it. Acceptance was more frequent in males (p 0.05). Conclusion: At the epidemiological moment of universal availability of the vaccine and with subjects still affected by COVID-19, rejection of it was 23.7%.

Materiales y métodos: Se aplicó un diseño observacional de corte transversal en la población adulta del Paraguay entre mayo y octubre 2022. se aplicó el cuestionario de Kotta et al previamente validado, el cual fue difundido por redes sociales. Resultados: Se incluyeron 303 encuestados, con edad media 34 ± 12 años y predominio del sexo femenino (64,0%). En la muestra, 51,8% padeció COVID-19 y 97,3% ya recibió al menos una dosis de la vacuna. Se detectó que 58,4% aceptada la vacuna, 17,8% vacilaba en recibirla y 23,7% la rechazaba. La aceptación fue más frecuente en los varones (p 0,05). Conclusión: En el momento epidemiológico de disponibilidad universal de la vacuna y habiendo aún sujetos afectados por COVID-19, el rechazo a la misma fue 23,7%.

Abstract Background The inadequate lifestyle of university students can contribute to the occurrence of chronic noncommunicable diseases (NCD). Objective To evaluate the prevalence of NCD risk and prevention factors and verify gender differences for healthy habits among nursing students. Method A cross-sectional study with 974 nursing students. A self-administered questionnaire on health-related life habits was used in the study. Results Of the 974 students, 78.7% were women, 62.6% were between 20-29 years of age, 65.1% consumed alcohol, 57.4% did not do physical activity, and 34.7% were overweight. The women (41.9%) drank more full-fat milk, while the men drank more soft drinks and routinely consumed more meat with fat. The students who did not engage in physical activity smoked more (p<0.01), consumed less fruit (p<0.01), less salad (p<0.01), and less vegetables (p<0.01), and consumed more soft drinks (p=0.03), and meat with fat (p=0.04). In the physically inactive students, a high prevalence of diabetes mellitus (p=0.03) and high cholesterol (p<0.01) was observed. Conclusion The results show a clear profile of NCD risk factors among university students, highlighting the need to implement educational programs to reduce these factors. NCD. . Resumo Introdução O estilo de vida inadequado dos universitários pode contribuir para o aparecimento de doenças crônicas não transmissíveis (DCNT). Objetivo Avaliar a prevalência de fatores de risco e proteção para DCNT e verificar as diferenças de gêneros em hábitos saudáveis de estudantes de enfermagem. Método Estudo transversal com 974 estudantes. Foi utilizado um questionário sobre os hábitos de vida relacionados à saúde. Resultados Dos 974 alunos, 78,7% eram mulheres, 62,6% com idade entre 20-29 anos, 65,1% consumiam álcool, 57,4% não realizavam atividade física (AF), e 34,7% tinham sobrepeso. As mulheres (41,9%) apresentavam maior prevalência no consumo de leite com gordura, e os homens consumiam mais refrigerante e tinham o hábito de comer mais carne com gordura. Os universitários que não realizavam AF fumavam mais (p<0,01), apresentavam consumo baixo de frutas (p<0,01), saladas (p<0,01) e verduras (p<0,01), e consumiam mais refrigerante (p=0,03) e carne com gordura (p=0,04). Observamos que os estudantes fisicamente inativos tinham elevada prevalência para desenvolverem diabetes mellitus (p=0,03) e colesterol elevado (p<0,01). Conclusão Os resultados mostram um perfil elevado de fatores de risco para DCNT entre os universitários, mostrando assim a necessidade de implementar programas educacionais, a fim de reduzir esses fatores.
