Résumé Dans un monde globalisé, le contrôle du législatif sur les questions liées au Mercosur et à l’Union Européenne est important, mais il varie en fonction des décisions de Politique Étrangère Régionale (PER). Cet article examine s’il existe des configurations, en tenant compte de la conception institutionnelle, des conditions politiques et des facteurs économiques, qui expliquent l’intensité de la participation législative dans la détermination de telles questions. Une consultation d’experts a été réalisée pour sélectionner 5 décisions représentant des changements significatifs pour la dynamique régionale des pays du Mercosur et de l’Union européenne. Après avoir défini l’échantillon intentionnel de cas, grâce à une Analyse Qualitative Comparative (QCA), des conditions causales, nécessaires et suffisantes, ont été identifiées pour la participation du législatif à la PER. Les résultats indiquent que la conception institutionnelle et les facteurs économiques importent, mais les débats préalables dans les Parlements sur le sujet sont également pertinents pour expliquer l’action législative. Abstract In a globalized world, Legislative control over matters related to Mercosur and the European Union (EU) is important. However, its importance varies according to Regional Foreign Policy (RFP) decisions. This article investigates whether there are configurations, considering institutional design, political conditions, and economic factors, which explain the intensity of legislative participation in determining such matters. Abstract After performing localized repairs, it is customary to observe the reappearance of corrosion points in the region adjacent to the repaired area, a situation usually called the incipient anode phenomenon. Although there are several studies have on the subject, there are still controversial aspects regarding its causes, location, and progression over time. To investigate these gaps in knowledge, samples were molded with unrepaired chloride-contaminated substrate and repaired with repair mortar containing 0%, 10%, and 20% binder replacement with rice husk ash (RHA). Then, measurements of the electrochemical variables of density and corrosion potential were carried out, as well as the destructive inspection of part of the samples. After the measurements, an increase in corrosion rates was observed after the repair, in the repair-substrate interface. In the destructive inspection, significant deterioration also was observed in the repair-substrate interface region, as well as inside the substrate. Regarding the effect of replacing the binder with RHA, no relevant reduction in the incipient anode was identified in the mortars with 10% and 20% RHA. Resumo Após a realização de reparos localizados, costuma-se observar o ressurgimento de pontos de corrosão na região adjacente à área reparada, situação usualmente denominada ânodo incipiente. Embora tenham sido feitas diversas pesquisas a respeito do tema, ainda restam controversos aspectos em relação às suas causas, localização e progressão no tempo. Com objetivo de investigar essas lacunas no conhecimento, moldaram-se amostras com substrato contaminado por cloretos não reparadas e reparadas com argamassa de reparo contendo substituição de ligante por sílica de casca de arroz (SCA) nos teores de 0%, 10% e 20%. Em seguida, realizaram-se aferições das variáveis eletroquímicas de densidade e potencial de corrosão, bem como a inspeção destrutiva de parte das amostras. Após as aferições, observou-se aumento nas densidades de corrosão após o reparo, na interface substrato-reparo. Abstract Concrete is a material susceptible to different degradation mechanisms that can lead to the formation of expansive products resulting from external sulfate attack (ESA). In this context, supplementary cementing materials (SCMs), like fly ash, metakaolin, silica fume, and rice husk ash, have effectively suppressed the effects caused by ESA. However, each SCM may present different behavior depending on the exposure conditions, sulfate type, SO 4 2- concentration, etc. Thus, this study presents a multicriteria decision-making analysis of fixed binder content for mortars (1: 3.2 a/agl=0.60) aiming to achieve the best performance against ESA (exposure to Na 2 SO 4 or MgSO 4 ). The criteria selected for the decision-making analysis are the sustainability impact of the mixture, economic performance, and the effect of ESA on the mechanical properties and durability of the mortars. Resumo O concreto é um material suscetível a diferentes mecanismos de degradação que podem causar a formação de produtos expansivos, como o ataque externo por sulfatos. As adições minerais, como a cinza volante, o metacaulim, a sílica ativa e a sílica de casca de arroz são opções que possuem sua eficácia comprovada em argamassas e concretos expostos a ambientes com sulfatos. O presente estudo busca, por meio de um método de análise multicritérios de decisão, realizar a escolha do teor de aglomerante em argamassas (1: 3,2 a/agl=0,60) que apresentar melhor desempenho frente ao ataque externo por sulfato de sódio (Na2SO4) e magnésio (MgSO4). ABSTRACT Salinity affects physiological processes, such as photosynthesis, in various agricultural crops, such as sorghum, around the world. Thus, mitigating techniques such as priming seeds with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) can increase plant tolerance to salt stress. Thus, the objective of present study was to evaluate the priming of seeds with hydrogen peroxide on gas exchange and shoot phytomass of sorghum grown under salt stress. The treatments were distributed in a randomized block design, in a 4 × 4 factorial arrangement, with four levels of electrical conductivity of irrigation water - (ECw- 0.3, 1.5, 3.5, and 5.5 dS m-1) and four concentrations of H2O2 (0, 6, 12, and 18 μM L-1), with three replications. The salinity of the water reduced gas exchange, shoot fresh and dry mass, in addition to shoot moisture content in sorghum plants. RESUMO A salinidade afeta processos fisiológicos, como a fotossíntese, em diversas culturas agrícolas, como o sorgo, em todo o mundo. Dessa forma, técnicas mitigadoras como o condicionamento de sementes com peróxido de hidrogênio (H2O2) podem aumentar a tolerância das plantas ao estresse salino. Assim, o objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar o condicionamento de sementes de sorgo com peróxido de hidrogênio nas trocas gasosas e na fitomassa da planta sob estresse salino. Os tratamentos foram distribuídos em delineamento de blocos casualizados, em arranjo fatorial 4 × 4, com quatro níveis de condutividade elétrica da água de irrigação (CEa- 0,3, 1,5, 3,5 e 5,5 dS m-1) e quatro concentrações de H2O2 (0, 6, 12 e 18 μM L-1), com três repetições. A salinidade da água reduziu as trocas gasosas, a massa fresca e seca da parte aérea, além do teor de água nas plantas de sorgo. Entretanto, o condicionamento das sementes com H2O2 melhorou as trocas gasosas e o acúmulo de massa seca das plantas. ABSTRACT Effluent from fish farming with saline water is a source of water, also rich in organic matter and nutrients, that can be used in irrigation of cultivated plants and even fully or partially replace mineral fertilization. The objective was to evaluate the growth, biomass production and quality of P. maximum cultivars fertigated with fish farming effluent in a greenhouse experiment, using a randomized block design with eight replicates. Treatments were arranged in a split-split-plot scheme, with three irrigation managements in the plot (irrigation with public-supply water, irrigation with public-supply water + conventional fertilization, and irrigation with fish farming effluent), three cultivars of P. maximum (Tanzania, Mombasa, and Massai) in the sub-plot, and four cutting times in the sub-sub-plot (45, 90, 135, and 180 days after sowing). Plant height, number of tillers, production of fresh biomass, neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber, ether extract, crude protein, dry matter, and mineral matter contents were analyzed. The highest growth, production, and quality of P. maximum grass occurs when irrigated with public-supply water and under conventional NPK fertilization. Fertigation with fish farming effluent reduces the growth and production of P. maximum grass, but allows obtaining better quality forage. It is possible to irrigate P. maximum grass using fish farming effluent with satisfactory yields. The growth of cv. Abstract The present study aimed to investigate the socioeconomic and obstetric characteristics of adolescent mothers and the complications they cause to maternal and neonatal health. This baseline data analysis of the MINA-Brazil birth cohort was conducted in the municipality of Cruzeiro do Sul, state of Acre, Brazil. The chi-square test was used to compare characteristics of adolescent and adult postpartum women, and multiple Poisson regression models with robust variance were used to assess associated factors. Among the postpartum women, 26.2% (95%CI: 24.0-28.4) were adolescents. Resumo O objetivo do estudo foi investigar as características socioeconômicas e obstétricas de parturientes adolescentes e suas complicações sobre a saúde materna e neonatal. Trata-se de uma análise de dados da linha de base da coorte de nascimentos MINA-Brasil conduzida no município de Cruzeiro do Sul, estado do Acre. Utilizou-se teste qui-quadrado para comparar características das puérperas adolescentes com as adultas e modelos múltiplos de regressão de Poisson com variância robusta para avaliar fatores associados. Entre as puérperas estudadas, 26,2% (IC95%: 24,0-28,4) eram adolescentes. Os fatores associados ao parto na adolescência foram ter nove anos ou menos de estudo (RPaj:1,36; IC95%: 1,14-1,61), pertencer aos menores quartis do índice de riqueza (1° quartil: RPaj:1,40; IC95%: 1,08-1,80) (2° quartil: RPaj:1,37; IC95%: 1,08-1,74), ser primigesta (RPaj:3,69; IC95%: 2,98-4,57), baixo IMC pré-gestacional (RPaj:1,28; IC95%: 1,04-1,57), infecção urinária na gravidez (RPaj:1,25; IC95%: 1,07-1,46) e menos de seis consultas de pré-natal (RPaj:1,42; IC95%: 1,21-1,66). The coinfection between malaria (ML) and arboviral diseases represents a major global public health problem, particularly in tropical and subtropical countries. Despite its relevance, this topic is still insufficiently discussed in the current literature. Here, we aimed to investigate the worldwide distribution, symptoms, and diagnosis during coinfection between ML and arboviral diseases. We conducted a systematic review following the Preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) statement and assessed the selection and eligibility criteria, created and diagrammed maps, and analysed major symptoms with 95% confidence intervals (CI) using prevalence ratio and effect size, also performing latent class analysis. A total of 85,485 studies were retrieved, of which 56 were included: 57.14% in Asia, 25% in Africa, 14.30% in South America, and 3.56% in Europe. A total of 746 individuals were reported to be coinfected with Plasmodium and arbovirus. Concurrent ML, Dengue (DEN), Chikungunya (CHIK), and Zika (ZIK) patients are more likely to present headache and skin rash. Regarding diagnosis, 58,253 were made, of which 38,176 were positive (ML and at least one arboviral disease). Abstract Does French legislation encourage integration and post-national citizenship? Although French national identity and integration literature reaffirms the exhaustion of the French model and politics for integration, and although traces of economic and social segregation are still observed, data from the Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques and the Migrant Integration Policy Index indicate instead a growing care, from 2015 onwards, to include non-nationals into French society. In light of this mismatch between literature and data, this study tests the hypothesis that the legislative acts published by Paris display a propensity towards welcoming and guaranteeing rights regardless of the immigrants’ nationality. To that end, our research design is multi-method. First, we applied content analysis to 40 regulations referring to immigration, nationality, and citizenship in the period from 2001 to 2022. Then, correspondence analysis was used to gauge the correlation between the proposed categories. Corroborating our hypotheses, the results suggest that (i) French laws, decrees, and ordinances have set norms that are more focused on respecting and welcoming immigrants; and that (ii) there is a correlation between the norms that include non-nationals and those that dissociate the guarantee of rights from nationality. ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized for the first time, using extracts from the leaf and peel of Plinia cauliflora (jabuticaba) fruit by varying the pH level of the reaction medium. The powders were obtained after calcination at 400 ºC and characterized by thermogravimetry (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results indicate that the use of jabuticaba leaf extract favored the stabilization of nanoparticles, providing smaller crystallite sizes and lower crystallinity. Crystallite sizes smaller than 50 nm were obtained using the leaf extract with pH level adjusted to 7 and 10. The morphology was strongly affected by both the extracts and the pH levels of the medium, and showed a flower-like shape when using jabuticaba peel extract at pH 7. Abstract: Positional accuracy of cartographic products is typically evaluated using positional discrepancies and point-based techniques. However, using linear features has some advantages over the point-based method, such as a greater amount of geometric and positional information and the fact that approximately 80% of the features on a cartographic basis are lines. Despite these advantages, important parameters for evaluating accuracy using lines have not yet been established or determined, such as the spatial distribution pattern, although it is a relevant factor that can affect the results and determine the validity of an evaluation process. This study proposes a method based on the modification of the Nearest Neighbor Method for points, which can be used to evaluate the spatial distribution pattern of linear features. Instead of the traditional Euclidean distance used by the method for points, the method proposes using the Hausdorff Distance as a measure of the spacing between lines. The proposed method, called Nearest Neighbor Method for Linear Features (NNMLF), was applied to simulated and real data. All experiments with simulated data showed that the NNMLF was effective in estimating spatial distribution pattern up to the third order. Its use on real data showed NNMLF is simple to apply. Resumo Este estudo investiga cimentos ativados alcalinamente (CAA), compostos por escória de alto-forno (EAF) juntamente com cinza de casca de arroz (CCA) e metacaulim (MK), ativados por hidróxido de sódio (NaOH). O objetivo é avaliar o impacto das relações SiO2/Al2O3 e CaO/SiO2 na resistência mecânica e nos compostos hidratados do CAA. Ensaios mecânicos e microestruturais foram realizados. Composições com uma razão CaO/SiO2 próxima de 1 apresentaram resistência mecânica superior, aproximadamente 35 a 40 MPa aos 28 dias, enquanto a razão SiO2/Al2O3 não afetou significativamente os resultados. A difração de raios-X e a análise térmica revelaram a formação de silicato de cálcio hidratado (CSH) e hidrotalcita como compostos hidratados. Abstract This study investigates alkali-activated cements (AAC), comprising blast furnace slag (BFS) along with industrial by-products like rice husk ash (RHA) and metakaolin (MK), activated by sodium hydroxide (NaOH). The aim is to assess the impact of SiO2/Al2O3 and CaO/SiO2 ratios on AAC's mechanical strength and hydrated compounds. Mechanical and microstructural tests were carried out. Compositions with a CaO/SiO2 ratio near 1 exhibited superior mechanical strength, approximately 35–40 MPa at 28 days, while the SiO2/Al2O3 ratio did not significantly affect the outcomes. X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis revealed the formation of hydrated calcium silicate (CSH) and hydrotalcite as hydrated compounds. This suggests that BFS can enhance AAC results. In conclusion, CaO/SiO2 ratios play a crucial role in influencing the strength gains of AAC. Abstract Background Patients with immune-mediated rheumatic diseases (IMRDs) have been prioritized for COVID-19 vaccination to mitigate the infection severity risks. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are at a high risk of severe COVID-19 outcomes, especially those under immunosuppression or with associated comorbidities. However, few studies have assessed the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine in patients with RA. Objective To evaluate the safety of vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 in patients with RA. Methods This data are from the study “Safety and Efficacy on COVID-19 Vaccine in Rheumatic Diseases,” a Brazilian multicentric prospective phase IV study to evaluate COVID-19 vaccine in IMRDs in Brazil. Adverse events (AEs) in patients with RA of all centers were assessed after two doses of ChAdOx1 (Oxford/AstraZeneca) or CoronaVac (Sinovac/Butantan). Stratification of postvaccination AEs was performed using a diary, filled out daily and returned at the end of 28 days for each dose. Results A total of 188 patients with RA were include, 90% female. CoronaVac was used in 109 patients and ChAdOx1 in 79. Only mild AEs were observed, mainly after the first dose. The most common AEs after the first dose were pain at the injection (46,7%), headache (39,4%), arthralgia (39,4%), myalgia (30,5%) and fatigue (26,6%), and ChAdOx1 had a higher frequency of pain at the injection (66% vs 32 %, p < 0.001) arthralgia (62% vs 22%, p < 0.001) and myalgia (45% vs 20%, p < 0.001) compared to CoronaVac. The more common AEs after the second dose were pain at the injection (37%), arthralgia (31%), myalgia (23%), headache (21%) and fatigue (18%). Arthralgia (41,4% vs 25%, p = 0.02) and pain at injection (51,4% vs 27%, p = 0.001) were more common with ChAdOx1. No serious AEs were related. With Regard to RA activity level, no significant difference was observed between the three time periods for both COVID-19 vaccines. Conclusion In the comparison between the two immunizers in patients with RA, local reactions and musculoskeletal symptoms were more frequent with ChAdOx1 than with CoronaVac, especially after the first dose. In summary, the AE occurred mainly after the first dose, and were mild, like previous data from others immunizing agents in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the impact of chronic illness caused by chikungunya fever on the quality of life and functionality of affected individuals. Methods: A cross-sectional and comparative study was conducted in which two groups were investigated: a Chikungunya Group comprising 25 patients with chronic fever screened after 1 year of illness via a telephonic survey, and a Healthy Group comprising 25 healthy individuals matched for sex and age by face-to-face interview. The Stanford HAQ 20-Item Disability Scale (HAQ) and the Short Form Health Survey (SF-12) questionnaires were administered to both groups. Generalized Linear Models, Pearson χ2 tests, and odds ratios were used to evaluate the test results. Results: Significant differences in functional capacity and quality of life were observed between the Chikungunya and Healthy Groups. The chance of some impairment in functionality was also much higher in the Chikungunya Group in four of the HAQ categories, especially in the "walking" category (adjusted OR= 109.40). Further, the Chikungunya Group had a higher chance of presenting a below-average score in the mental component summary of the SF-12 (adjusted OR= 16.20) and of being positive in depression risk screening (adjusted OR= 34.57). Conclusion: Even one year after the acute phase, chikungunya fever can compromise the functionality and quality of life in affected individuals, with direct impairment in performing daily activities. Studies and therapeutic plans for chikungunya fever should consider the long-term impacts of this disease.
