Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o uso do método multivariado de melhor preditor linear não viesado (BLUP), para estimar os parâmetros genéticos em genótipos de cana-de-açúcar (Saccharum officinarum). O experimento foi realizado em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com 21 genótipos de cana-de-açúcar, em sete anos agrícolas, em arranjo fatorial com três repetições. As características medidas foram: rendimento total de caules por hectare, volume total de suco por hectare, produção de açúcares solúveis totais e comprimento do caule. A variação da fonte nos anos agrícolas contribuiu fortemente para a obtenção dos valores esperados da soma dos quadrados, sem causar distorções das estimativas dos componentes de variância e parâmetros genéticos. As características medidas apresentaram variabilidade genética e permitiram seleções univariada e multivariada eficientes. A maior eficiência de seleção foi obtida com o uso de mais de oito medições, pois elas favoreceram as estimativas de herdabilidade, precisão e repetibilidade. Os genótipos 'IAC873396', 'Nova Iraí', 'IACSP 93-6006' e 'RB 835089' foram superiores para as características testadas, independentemente do ano agrícola. A técnica multivariada BLUP para a seleção multicaracterísticas é robusta e permite aumentar os ganhos de seleção, a acurácia e a confiabilidade das predições para o melhoramento da cana-de-açúcar.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the use of the multivariate best linear unbiased predictor (BLUP) method for multi-trait selection, to estimate the genetic parameters in sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum) genotypes. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design with 21 sugarcane genotypes, in seven crop years, in a factorial arrangement with three replicates. The measured traits were: total yield of stems per hectare, total volume of juice per hectare, production of total soluble sugars, and stem length. The source variation in the crop years strongly contributed for the obtention of the expected values of the sum of squares, without causing distortions in the variance components and genetic variables. The measured traits showed genetic variability and allowed of efficient univariate and multivariate selections. The highest selection efficiency was obtained by using more than eight measurements, since they favored the estimates of heritability, accuracy, and repeatability. The 'IAC873396', 'Nova Iraí', 'IACSP 93-6006', and 'RB 835089' genotypes were superior as to the traits tested, regardless of the crop year. The BLUP multivariate technique for multi-trait selection is robust and allows of the increasing of the selection gains, accuracy, and reliability of predictions for sugarcane breeding.

RESUMO: O caráter stay-green tem sido relacionado à maior tolerância a estresses e a produtividade pela manutenção mais prolongada do aparato fotossintético. A relação deste caráter com a produtividade de grãos talvez esteja associada a uma rede de características que não somente a massa de grãos. O objetivo do estudo é trazer à luz a real contribuição do caráter stay-green em trigos brasileiros, na relação entre os caracteres definidores da produtividade de grãos, em diferentes condições de ambiente. O experimento foi conduzido em delineamento experimental de blocos casualizados com três repetições, nos anos de 2003, 2004 e 2005. Foram avaliadas linhagens-irmãs com presença e ausência do caráter stay-green, analisando a correlação fenotípica e trilha separadamente por ano e grupo de maturação. Em condições favoráveis de cultivo, a contribuição do caráter stay-green em trigo se dá pelo aumento da fertilidade de espiga, incrementando o número de grãos. Num cenário mais restritivo, favorece a massa de grãos pelo maior tempo de enchimento no final do ciclo.

ABSTRACT: The stay-green character has been related to greater stress tolerance and yield through longer activity of the photosynthetic apparatus. Association of this character with grain yield may be linked to a network of features other than the grain mass. This study aimed to shed light on the actual contribution of stay-green character in Brazilian wheats and the associations between grain yield components in different environmental conditions. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design with three replications in the years 2003, 2004 and 2005. Sibling lines with and without the stay-green character were evaluated analyzing the phenotypic correlation and path analysis separately by year and maturity group. Under favorable growing conditions, the contribution of stay-green character in wheat is obtained by the increased ear fertility and number of grains. In a more restrictive scenario, it favors an increase in grain mass by longer filling time at the end of the cycle.

The white oat cultivar FAEM Carlasul was developed at the Plant Genomics and Breeding Center, Faculty of Agronomy Eliseu Maciel, Federal University of Pelotas, as a result of the cross between UFRGS 10 and 90SAT-28 (Coronado2/Cortez3/Pendek/ME 1563). It is characterized by high yield and grain quality.

O melhoramento genético para a qualidade industrial do trigo pode representar uma oportunidade de agregar valor de mercado aos produtos agrícolas, sendo o trigo um dos cereais com maior associação entre a qualidade intrínseca e a remuneração ao agricultor. O objetivo do trabalho foi o de determinar a variabilidade genética a partir de caracteres indicativos da qualidade industrial e o rendimento de grãos, e estimar o grau de associação entre estes caracteres em 22 genótipos de trigo. O experimento foi desenvolvido em área experimental pertencente à Universidade Federal de Pelotas, Capão do Leão (RS). Os resultados indicaram a provável existência de variabilidade genética para os caracteres em estudo, a qual pode auxiliar pesquisadores na escolha de genitores. Cruzamentos artificiais envolvendo os genótipos BRS 208, Rubi e Safira podem ser os mais promissores no intuito de incrementar o ganho genético, tanto para a qualidade industrial quanto para a produtividade de grãos. O rendimento de grãos manifestou correlação negativa com o conteúdo de proteína da farinha revelando que a superioridade genotípica para o rendimento de grãos pode afetar negativamente a proporção protéica. Entretanto, o conteúdo de proteína não evidenciou associação significativa com a força de glúten (indicador da qualidade industrial), revelando que a concentração de proteína da farinha não foi eficiente para predizer a qualidade industrial. Este resultado sugere a possibilidade de obtenção de genótipos superiores para o rendimento de grãos sem comprometer a qualidade industrial.

The breeding for wheat bread making quality represents a great opportunity to incorporate commercial value to agricultural products. Wheat has one of the best relationship between end product quality and farmer earnings. Genetic variability among 22 different genotypes based on bread making quality traits and grain yield and the degree of their association was assessed. This research was performed at Centro Agropecuário da Palma experimental field of Universidade Federal de Pelotas, Capão do Leão (RS), Brazil. The results indicated that it is likely the existence of genetic variability for the assessed traits. BRS 208, Rubi and Safira were the best genotypes for breeding programs aiming at high grain yield and bread making quality. Grain yield showed negative correlation with flour protein content. Thus, grain yield improvement can negatively affect protein content. However, the total protein content did not show a significant correlation with gluten strength, suggesting that the protein in the flour is not efficient for predicting bread making quality. Therefore, selection for grain yield can be performed without affecting bread making quality.

O melhoramento de plantas tem por base a ampliação da variabilidade genética existente através de cruzamentos artificiais planejados. Assim, é de fundamental importância o conhecimento das populações formadas, a fim de prever o potencial das combinações a partir de diferentes genitores, permitindo maior eficiência de seleção para o caráter desejado, otimizando o ganho genético. Dessa forma, o objetivo deste trabalho foi o de observar a variabilidade fenotípica dos caracteres estatura de planta, ciclo vegetativo e ciclo reprodutivo na geração F2 e prever as melhores combinações para a obtenção de constituições genéticas superiores. Para isso, cinco genótipos de aveia (UPF 16, UPF 18, UFRGS 7, UFRGS 17 e URPEL 15) foram cruzados de forma dialélica, sem a realização dos cruzamentos recíprocos, para o desenvolvimento das populações F2. Para analisar a variabilidade nas populações, foram utilizados os parâmetros: média, variância e assimetria da distribuição de freqüência. Os cruzamentos UPF 16 x UFRGS 17 e UFRGS 17 x URPEL 15 produziram grande quantidade de plantas de estatura reduzida. Para o caráter ciclo vegetativo, UPF 16 x UPF 18, UPF 16 x UFRGS 7, UPF 16 x UFRGS 17, UPF 16 x URPEL 15, UFRGS 7 x UFRGS 17 e UFRGS 7 x URPEL 15 foram os cruzamentos que produziram descendentes de ciclo curto. UPF 16 x UFRGS 17 e UPF 16 x URPEL 15 produziram amplo número de progênies de ciclo reprodutivo longo.

Plant breeding is based on the pursue of an amplification of genetic variability through planned crosses. Thus, it is of fundamental importance to study the formed populations, in order to predict the potential of different parental combinations, allowing a higher selection efficiency for the desired trait, optimizing genetics gains. Thus, the objective of this work was to observe the phenotypic variability of the characters plant stature, vegetative cycle and reproductive cycle in F2 generation and to predict the best combinations to obtain superior genetic constitutions. Therefore, five oat genotypes (UPF 16, UPF 18, UFRGS 7, UFRGS 17 and URPEL 15) were crossed in a diallelic format, without reciprocal crosses, for the development of F2 populations. To analyze population variability, the following parameters were used: mean, variance and asymmetry of frequency distribution. The crosses UPF 16 x UFRGS 17 and UFRGS 17 x URPEL 15 produced a large amount of plants with shorter stature. For the character vegetative cycle, UPF 16 x UPF 18, UPF 16 x UFRGS 7, UPF 16 x UFRGS 17, UPF 16 x URPEL 15, UFRGS 7 x UFRGS 17 and UFRGS 7 x URPEL 15 were the crosses that produced short cycle plants. UPF 16 x UFRGS 17 and UPF 16 x URPEL 15 produced a large number of long-cycled progenies.

Molecular and morphological data analyses matrices are very informative tools for the estimation of genetic distances. We used AFLP markers, morphological traits and combined analysis to estimate the genetic distances between wheat genotypes and ascertain any associations between the two techneques. Nineteen wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes were analyzed using amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers and field evaluated for two years. The matrices obtained by morphological and molecular marker data analyses revealed a significant but moderate correlation (r = 0.47), indicating that such techniques sample distinct genome regions. The combined analysis was found to be highly correlated with AFLP (r = 0.97) and moderately correlated with morphological (r = 0.59) markers. A possible explanation for such results is a bias caused by the much higher number of AFLP (229) than morphological (17) markers. Thus, it is evident that the combined analysis is not efficient when a very dissimilar number of markers are used in each isolated technique. Therefore, to obtain a better knowledge of the degree of divergence among genotypes it is necessary to consider each analysis separately.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar linhas quase isogênicas de trigo com o caráter permanência verde e de maturação sincronizada quanto à tolerância ao alumínio e à sensibilidade ao ácido giberélico (AG3). O experimento foi conduzido no Laboratório de Duplo-haplóides e Hidroponia da FAEM/UFPel, em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com parcelas subdivididas com três repetições, através do teste simultâneo utilizando solução nutritiva com concentrações de 10mg L-1 de Al3+ e 100mg L-1 de AG3. Foram determinados: a inserção da 1ª folha, o comprimento da 1ª folha, a inserção da 2ª folha, comprimento da 2ª folha, diferença da inserção entre a 1ª e 2ª folha, estatura de plântula, estatura de planta, área foliar, área radicular e o crescimento de raiz. Os caracteres estatura da plântula, inserção da 1ª folha e comprimento da 2ª folha foram os mais expressivos para a seleção de indivíduos com estatura reduzida através da reação do AG3. O grupo do caráter permanência verde apresentou maior insensibilidade à ação do AG3, enquanto o grupo de plantas sincronizadas proporcionou maior tolerância ao Al3+. Contudo, existe possibilidade de selecionar linhas quase isogênicas dentro do grupo permanência verde com tolerância ao Al3+ e insensibilidade ao AG3 através da técnica de cultivo hidropônico com solução nutritiva em ambiente controlado.

The objective was to evaluate wheat near-isogenic lines differing from the trait stay-green and synchronized maturation regarding their alluminum tolerance and sensibility to the giberellic acid (GA3). The experiment was conducted in the Double-haploids and Hydroponics Laboratory of FAEM/UFPel, in random block with split plot design with three replications, using the simultaneous test in nutrient solutions with 10mg L-1 of Al3+ and 100mg L-1 of GA3. The following characters were evaluated: insertion of the 1st leaf, length of the 1st leaf, insertion of the 2nd leaf, length of the 2nd leaf, difference between the 1st and 2nd leaf insertion, seedling stature, plant stature, leaf area, root area and root growth. The characters seedling stature, insertion of the 1st leaf and length of the 2nd leaf were the most expressive for the selection of individuals with reduced stature caused by the GA3. The group stay-green presented higher insensibility to GA3 compared to the group of synchronized plants showed larger tolerance to Al3+. However, it is possible to select near-isogenic lines within the stay-green group with Al3+ tolerance using hydroponic culture under controlled environmental conditions.

A ferrugem da folha da aveia é a moléstia mais importante que ataca a cultura da aveia, ocorrendo em praticamente todas as áreas em que a aveia é cultivada. A forma mais indicada para o seu controle é a utilização de cultivares resistentes. Contudo, para que seja alcançada a resistência durável ao patógeno, é necessário que se conheça a genética da resistência à ferrugem da folha em aveia. O objetivo foi determinar a forma de herança da resistência a três isolados de Puccinia coronata f. sp. avenae Fraser & Led., (coletados no sul do Brasil) em genótipos brasileiros de aveia branca. Para a determinação da herança da resistência a cada um dos três isolados, foram utilizadas populações F2 geradas por meio de cruzamentos artificiais, entre genótipos resistentes (R) e suscetíveis (S) e entre genótipos resistentes (R). Desta forma, foram utilizadas populações F2 dos cruzamentos artificiais entre: i) URPEL 15 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S), UPF 16 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S) e URPEL 15 (R) x UPF 16 (R), para a determinação da herança da resistência ao isolado um (1); ii) URPEL 15 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S), UPF 18 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S) e URPEL 15 (R) x UPF 18 (R), para a determinação da herança da resistência ao isolado dois (2); iii) URPEL 15 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S) e URPEL 15 (R) x UPF 18 (S), para a determinação da herança da resistência ao isolado três (3). Os resultados obtidos evidenciaram que o genótipo URPEL 15 apresenta genes dominantes de resistência aos três isolados de ferrugem da folha da aveia avaliados, que o cultivar UPF 16 apresenta um gene recessivo de resistência ao isolado 1 e o cultivar UPF 18 apresenta um gene recessivo de resistência ao isolado 2. E que os genes de resistência apresentados pelos genótipos URPEL 15, UPF 16 e UPF 18, segregam de forma independente.

Oat crown rust is the most important disease for the oat crop, occurring in practically all the areas where oat is cultivated. The most indicated form of control for this disease is the use of resistant cultivars. However, for the durable resistance to be acquired, it is necessary to know the genetics of resistance to crown rust in oats. Thus, the objective of this work was to determine the type of inheritance of resistance to three Puccinia coronata f. sp. avenae Fraser & Led., isolates (collected in southern Brazil) in brazilian white oat genotypes. To determine the inheritance of resistance to each one of three isolates,F2 populations were used generated through artificial crosses, between resistant (R) and susceptible (S) and between resistant genotypes (R). Thus, F2 populations from the following artificial crosses: i) URPEL 15 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S), UPF 16 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S) and URPEL 15 (R) x UPF 16 (R), were used to determine the inheritance of resistance to isolate one (1); ii) URPEL 15 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S), UPF 18 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S) and URPEL 15 (R) x UPF 18 (R), to determine the inheritance of resistance to isolate two (2); iii) URPEL 15 (R) x UFRGS 7 (S) and URPEL 15 (R) x UPF 18 (S), to determine the inheritance of resistance to isolate three (3). The obtained results indicate that the genotype URPEL 15 present dominants genes for resistance to the three oat leaf rust isolates evaluated, the cultivar UPF 16 presents a recessive gene for resistance to isolate 1 and the cultivar UPF 18 has a recessive gene of resistence to isolate 2. Also, the resistance genes presented by genotypes URPEL 15, UPF 16 and UPF 18, segregate in an independent manner.

Estudos de diversidade e estrutura genética de populações de patógenos por meio de genes de resistência conhecidos são importantes, por permitirem o acesso de forma direta aos genes de virulência/avirulência dos indivíduos das diferentes populações-alvo. Dessa forma, o objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar a diversidade e a estrutura genética de três populações de Puccinia coronata f. sp avenae Fraser & Led do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, por meio da utilização do padrão fenotípico de virulência/avirulência de 40 isolados a 25 genes Pcs. Os resultados obtidos evidenciaram que apesar da elevada variabilidade em virulência dos isolados sul-brasileiros, a população apresenta diversidade genética moderada, principalmente em função da alta virulência dos isolados. Praticamente, não existem diferenças nas freqüências dos genes de virulência nos isolados coletados em Capão do Leão, Eldorado do Sul e Passo Fundo, ou seja, não existe estruturação entre as populações, o que implica na necessidade da adoção de uma estratégia única de controle da moléstia nos três locais.

Studies on the genetic diversity and structure of pathogen populations by mean of known resistance genes are important as they allow the direct access to virulence/avirulence genes of individuals in target populations. Therefore, the goal of this work was to characterize the genetic diversity and structure of three Puccinia coronata f. sp avenae Fraser & Led populations from the State of Rio Grande do Sul by using a standard phenotypical assay of virulence/avirulence of 40 isolates to 25 Pcs genes. The results indicated that despite of the high variability for virulence of Southern brazilian isolates, the population showed a moderate genetic diversity, mainly as a function of the high virulence presented by the isolates. Basically, no difference was found in the frequency of virulence genes among the isolates collected in Capão do Leão, Eldorado do Sul and Passo Fundo counties, suggesting that the pathogen populations are not structured. The results indicated the need of a strategy for disease control in these three locations.

Várias técnicas vêm sendo propostas para elevar a probabilidade de obtenção de populações segregantes promissoras, concentrando grande esforços dos pesquisadores. Assim, o objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar a eficiência da utilização da média dos genitores, da heterose e heterobeltiose do F1 e da distância genética morfológica e molecular na predição do rendimento de grãos em aveia, nas gerações F2 e F3, provenientes do cruzamento dialélico envolvendo cinco genitores, a partir do caráter rendimento de grãos e seus componentes primários. Os dados utilizados foram obtidos em dois experimentos instalados no Centro Agropecuário da Palma, na área experimental do Centro de Genômica e Fitomelhoramento, localizado no município de Capão do Leão/RS, em 2002 e 2003. Pelos resultados verificou-se que o desempenho das populações F2 e F3, não pôde ser adequadamente previsto com base na geração F1. O rendimento de grãos das gerações F2 e F3, não pôde ser previsto por meio da utilização da distância genética obtida por caracteres morfológicos e marcadores moleculares. Também pode ser observado que o cruzamento de genótipos com médias elevadas de rendimento de grãos nem sempre produz descendentes com segregação transgressiva positiva.

Many techniques have been proposed to increase the probability of obtaining superior segregating populations, and major efforts have been invested by researchers worldwide. In this sense, the present work had as objective to verify the efficiency of using parental average, F1 heterosis and heterobeltiosis and the morphological and molecular genetic distance in the prediction of grain yield in oat. Grain yield and its primary components, were measured in F2 and F3 generations originated from the diallel cross involving five parents. Data were obtained from two experiments carried out in the Centro Agropecuário da Palma, in Capão do Leão County, RS, Brazil, in 2002 and 2003. The results indicate that the performance F2 and F3 populations can not be adequately predicted on the basis of the performance of F1 generation. Grain yield of F2 and F3 populations could not be predicted by the genetic distance calculated by morphology or molecular markers. Crosses of high-yielding genotypes did not always yield offsprings with positive transgressive segregation.

Comparou-se a campo a variabilidade genética em populações de aveia hexaplóide tratadas com agentes mutagênicos físico e químico, através do caráter ciclo vegetativo de plantas. Foram realizados experimentos em duas safras agrícolas em Pelotas, RS, em 1997/98 e 1998/99. As sementes foram irradiadas no Centro Regional de Oncologia da Faculdade de Medicina da UFPel, com uma taxa de dose de 0,25Gy min-1. As doses totais absorvidas para o mutagênico físico foram 100, 200 e 400Gy e, para o mutagênico químico 0,5, 1,5 e 3,0% por tratamento de 1200 sementes aproximadamente, em cada genótipo fixo de aveia avaliado. Foi obtida diferença na eficiência entre os agentes mutagênicos testados. O agente mutagênico físico foi sempre superior em relação ao agente mutagênico químico, independente da geração segregante avaliada, proporcionando assim um incremento maior no número de classes fenotípicas, tanto para redução quanto para o aumento do número de dias entre a emergência e o florescimento. Os genótipos mostraram sensibilidade diferenciada em relação à dose dos agentes mutagênicos avaliados, indicando que a eficiência dos tratamentos em alterar a variabilidade genética para precocidade e aumento do ciclo vegetativo foi variável. De modo geral, os dados indicaram decréscimo do caráter ciclo vegetativo com o acréscimo da dose dos agentes mutagênicos testados. O estudo das populações UPF-16 nas doses 100 e 200 gray submetidas ao tratamento com o agente mutagênico físico apontaram o maior grau de divergência genética e de dominância para o caráter ciclo vegetativo de plantas.

Hexaploid oat genetic variability was compared in populations treated with physical and chemical mutagens by making a field evaluation of vegetative cycle. Experiments were carried out in two agricultural years in Pelotas, RS (1997/98 and 1998/99). Seeds were irradiated at the UFPel OncoloGy Center, with a dose rate of 0.25Gy min-1. The total absorbed doses for the physical mutagen were 100, 200 and 400Gy and, for the chemical mutagen 0.5, 1.5 and 3.0% per treatment of 1,200 seeds, in each evaluated genotype. A difference in efficiency between mutagens was detected. The physical mutagen was always superior to the chemical mutagen, regardless the generation evaluated, providing a higher increase in the number of phenotypic classes, either leading to a reduction or increase in the number of days between emergence and flowering. The genotypes showed a differential sensitivity to the doses of tested mutagens, indicating a range of treatment efficiency in altering the genetic variability either for early or late vegetative cycle. In general, the results pointed to a decrease in the character vegetative cycle when an increase in the mutagen dose was applied. The study of populations UPF 16 on the doses 100 and 200Gy subjected to treatment with the physical mutagen pointed to a higher degree of genetic divergence and dominance for the character vegetative cycle.

A estimativa da divergência genética entre cultivares pode ser útil em um programa de melhoramento para o direcionamento de hibridações e o conhecimento do germoplasma disponível. O objetivo do trabalho foi estimar a dissimilaridade genética entre genótipos de aveia (Avena sativa), por meio de marcadores AFLP e do coeficiente de parentesco, e correlacionar essas estimativas entre si e com a estimativa da dissimilaridade genética a partir de caracteres agronômicos em experimentos com e sem a aplicação de fungicida. Onze cultivares de aveia foram utilizadas na estimativa da distância genética a partir de marcadores AFLP. Desses 11 genótipos, nove foram avaliados no campo em experimento com e sem fungicida, para a estimativa da divergência genética a partir de caracteres morfológicos. Para a estimativa dos coeficientes de parentesco foram utilizados oito, dentre nove genótipos coincidentes entre as avaliações dos caracteres agronômicos e molecular, que possuem genealogia conhecida. Posteriormente, efetuou-se a comparação entre as matrizes por meio da estimativa da correlação entre elas. Dentre as medidas de dissimilaridade avaliadas, as distâncias estimadas com base na utilização de dados moleculares e a técnica de coeficiente de parentesco foram as que evidenciaram a maior correlação (0,45), sendo significativa, porém não elevada. A segunda maior correlação observada ocorreu entre as distâncias fenotípicas em experimentos com e sem a aplicação de fungicida (0,44); não se observaram correlações significativas em todas as demais medidas de divergência. Dessa forma, fica evidente a presença de elevada variabilidade genética entre os genótipos estudados e a necessidade da utilização conjunta das três técnicas para a obtenção de uma estimativa mais fiel da divergência genética.

Estimatives of genetic dissimilarity between cultivars can be useful in a breeding program for directing crosses and evaluating the available germplasm. The objective of this work was to estimate the genetic dissimilarity between oat genotypes through AFLP markers and inbreeding coefficient and to intercorrelate these estimate with each other and with an estimate based on agronomical traits in experiments with and without fungicide application. Eleven oat cultivars were used to estimate the molecular genetic distance, from which nine were evaluated in the field to obtain the morphological estimatives. For the estimates of inbreeding coefficients, eight genotypes had known pedigree and were considered for the analyisis. A comparison of the matrices was obtained through a correlation analysis. Among the dissimilarity measures evaluated, the estimated distances based on molecular data and the inbreeding coefficient, were those evidencing the highest correlation (0.45). The second highest correlation was obtained between the morphological distances in experiments with and without fungicide application (0.44), no other correlation obtained was significant. Then, it is evident the presence of high genetic variability among the studied genotypes and the necessity of all three techniques to be used in a joined manner for obtaining a more precise estimate of genetic dissimilarity.
