ABSTRACT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Particular pain features, such as pain interference, neuropathic-like symptoms, and central sensitization (CS) symptoms may be present in patients with Chikungunya fever and lead to functional limitations. The present study aimed to assess the association between pain characteristics and the disability in participants affected by Chikungunya fever in the chronic phase. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 36 participants who filled out a sociodemographic, pain characteristics (pain interference - Brief Pain Inventory, neuropathic-like symptoms - PainDETECT Questionnaire, and CS-related signs and symptoms - Central Sensitization Inventory) and disability (Health Assessment Questionnaire) questionnaires. The Spearman correlation test (rho) verified the relationship between the outcomes. RESULTS: Most of the participants were female (77%), with a mean age of 43 years. Twenty-seven (75%) participants presented nociceptive pain and 11 (30%) had central sensitization symptoms. There was a high positive correlation between the presence of neuropathic-like symptoms and disability (rho=0.71; p<0.001) and pain intensity and disability (rho=0.76; p<0.001). A moderate positive correlation was found between the central sensitization symptoms and disability (rho=0.51; p=0.002). Moreover, there is a low positive correlation between pain interference in an individual’s life and disability (rho=0.34; p=0.041). CONCLUSION: Patients in chronic phase of Chikungunya fever revealed mild pain intensity and predominance of nociceptive pain. Pain interference, neuropathic-like symptoms, and central sensitization symptoms negatively impact individual’s disability after Chikungunya fever. RESUMO JUSTIFICATIVA E OBJETIVOS: Características particulares da dor, como interferência da dor, sintomas do tipo neuropático e sintomas de sensibilização central (SC), podem estar presentes em pacientes com febre Chicungunha e levar a limitações funcionais. O presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a correlação entre as características da dor e a capacidade funcional em participantes acometidos pela febre Chicungunha na fase crônica. MÉTODOS: Foi realizado um estudo transversal com 36 participantes que preencheram questionários sociodemográficos, de características de dor (interferência da dor - Inventário Breve de Dor, sintomas do tipo neuropático - questionário PainDETECT, e sinais e sintomas relacionados à SC - Inventário de Sensibilização Central) e de capacidade funcional (Health Assessment Questionnaire). O teste de correlação de Spearman (rho) verificou a relação entre os desfechos. RESULTADOS: A maioria dos participantes era do sexo feminino (77%), com média de idade de 43 anos. Vinte e sete (75%) participantes apresentaram dor nociceptiva e 11 (30%) apresentaram sintomas de sensibilização central. Houve alta correlação positiva entre a presença de sintomas do tipo neuropático e capacidade funcional (rho=0,71; p<0,001) e intensidade da dor e capacidade funcional (rho=0,76; p<0,001). Foi encontrada uma correlação positiva moderada entre os sintomas de sensibilização central e a capacidade funcional (rho=0,51; p=0,002). Além disso, há uma correlação positiva baixa entre a interferência da dor na vida do indivíduo e a capacidade funcional (rho=0,34; p=0,041). The aim of this study was to evaluate the credibility, accuracy and readability of web-based content on Brazilian websites. METHODS: This is a mixed-method review with exploratory sequential design. Google was selected as the search engine for retrieving web-information about low back pain (LBP) in Brazilian websites. We assessed the URL on three domains: credibility, accuracy, and readability. Qualitative analysis of each URL was performed in three steps: (1) organization into thematic units; (2) data exploration; and (3) interpretation of the data and summarization. RESULTS: Credibility was assessed in 135 URLs, 72 (53%) URLs had no authorship, 119 (88%) did not mention the sources of their information, none presented a declaration of conflict of interest or the declared source of funding, 76 (56%) URLs present the date of creation. Accuracy was assessed in 121 URLs and none fully adhered to the guidelines. Readability was assessed in 128 and texts were classified as “very easy” or “easy” to read. Five main themes emerged in the qualitative analysis: (1) Explanations and causes for low back pain, (2) diagnosis, (3) recommendation about treatment, (4) recommendation for coping and self-management, and (5) lifestyle factors. CONCLUSION: Content analysis of web-based searches on the Brazilian Portuguese language demonstrated low credibility standards, mostly inaccurate information, and moderate-high readability levels about low back pain. METHODS: A pre-planned secondary analysis of data collected from 311 patients with musculoskeletal pain was conducted. The Widespread Pain Index and the painMAP software assessed pain sites. Spearman’s correlation coefficient investigated the correlation between the Widespread Pain Index and the painMAP software. RESULTS: A total of 98 participants with Widespread Pain were included in this study. Most participants were female (67; 83.7%), with a mean age of 57,7±11,5 years, mean height of 1.6 (0.1) meters and mean weight of 73.2 (11.8) kilograms. Abstract Objectives: To measure Quality of Life (QoL) and costs of Heart Failure (HF) outpatients in Brazil as an introduction to the Value-Based Health Care (VBHC) concept. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional study, patients with HF, with ejection fraction <50%, were recruited from three hospitals in Brazil. Two QoL (36-Item Short Form Survey [SF-36] and Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire [MLHFQ]) and two anxiety/depression questionnaires were applied. SF-36 scores were stratified by domains. Treatment costs were calculated using the Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing (TDABC) method. Results were stratified by NYHA functional class and sex. Results: From October 2018 to January 2021, 198 patients were recruited, and the median MLHFQ (49.5 [IQR 21.0, 69.0]) and SF-36 scores demonstrated poor QoL, worse at higher NYHA classes. A third of patients had moderate/severe depression and anxiety symptoms, and women had higher anxiety scores. Mean costs of outpatient follow-up were US$ 215 ± 238 for NYHA I patients, US$ 296 ± 399 for NYHA II and US$ 667 ± 1012 for NYHA III/IV. Lab/exam costs represented 30% of the costs in NYHA I, and 74% in NYHA III/IV (US $ 63.26 vs. US$ 491.05). Conclusion: Patients with HF in Brazil have poor QoL and high treatment costs; both worsen as the NYHA classification increases. It seems that HF has a greater impact on the mental health of women. Costs increase mostly related to lab/exams. Accurate and crossed information about QoL and costs is essential to drive care and reimbursement strategies based on value. MÉTODOS Realizou-se uma análise secundária pré-planejada de dados coletados de 311 pacientes com dor musculoesquelética. As características da dor incluíram: intensidade da dor, duração da dor, área da dor, sintomas de sensibilização central, presença de sintomas neuropáticos e a modulação condicionada da dor. A escala de funcionalidade específica do paciente avaliou a limitação funcional. RESULTADOS Identificou-se 98 pacientes com dor generalizada, sendo 58 (59,18%) classificados no grupo de fibromialgia e 40 (40,82%) no grupo de dor generalizada. Diferenças significativas foram encontradas entre os grupos para o índice de dor generalizada, escala de severidade de sintomas e escala polissintomática de sofrimento. Os participantes com fibromialgia apresentaram maiores valores de intensidade da dor (fibromialgia = 7,29±2,07, dor generalizada = 6,05 ± 2,47; p=0,008), sintomas neuropáticos (fibromialgia = 17,74±7,62, dor generalizada = 12,17 ± 6,41; p=0,005) e sintomas de sensibilização central (fibromialgia = 51,32±14,26, dor generalizada = 33,97±14,65; p<0,001), quando comparados à dor generalizada. Não houve diferença significativa na modulação condicionada da dor e na limitação funcional entre os grupos. CONCLUSÃO Pacientes com fibromialgia exibiram características de dor desfavoráveis, incluindo intensidade de dor, sintomas neuropáticos e sintomas de sensibilização central, quando comparados a pacientes com dor generalizada. Entretanto, a duração da dor, a limitação funcional e a modulação condicionada da dor não apresentaram diferença significativa entre os grupos.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Fibromyalgia and generalized pain represent a global health problem and are distinct musculoskeletal disorders, but there is an overlap in the clinical presentation between these conditions. However, no study has compared pain characteristics between patients with fibromyalgia and patients with generalized pain. Therefore, the present study aimed to compare pain characteristics and functional limitation of patients with fibromyalgia and patients with generalized pain. METHODS A pre-planned secondary analysis of data collected from 311 patients with musculoskeletal pain was performed. Pain characteristics included pain intensity, pain duration, pain area, symptoms of central sensitization, presence of neuropathic-like symptoms, and the conditioned pain modulation. The Patient-Specific Functional Scale assessed functional limitation. RESULTS 98 patients with generalized pain were identified, being 58 (59.18%) classified in the fibromyalgia group and 40 (40.82%) classified in the generalized pain group. Significant differences were found between groups for Widespread Pain Index, Symptom Severity Scale, and Polysymptomatic Distress Scale. Participants with fibromyalgia presented higher values of pain intensity (fibromyalgia = 7.29±2.07, generalized pain = 6.05±2.47; p=0.008), neuropathic-like symptoms (fibromyalgia = 17.74±7.62, generalized pain = 12.17±6.41; p=0.005), and symptoms of central sensitization (fibromyalgia = 51.32±14.26, generalized pain = 33.97±14.65; p<0.001), when compared with generalized pain. There was no significant difference in conditioned pain modulation and functional limitation between groups. CONCLUSION Patients with fibromyalgia exhibited unfavorable pain characteristics, including pain intensity, neuropathic-like symptoms, and symptoms of central sensitization compared to patients with generalized pain. However, pain duration, functional limitation, and conditioned pain modulation did not present meaningful differences between groups.

Abstract Background and objectives: Neuropathic pain is common in the general population worldwide and Brazil. The painDETECT questionnaire is a notable instrument for screening on neuropathic pain. A Brazilian version of the painDETECT is necessary to broaden the possibilities of identification of neuropathic pain in the Brazilian population for the proper diagnosis and treatment. The current study aimed to perform the translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the painDETECT into the Portuguese language of Brazil. Methods: A cross-cultural adaptation study was conducted in 11 stages according to standard procedures. Descriptive statistics were performed. The internal consistency of the questionnaire was assessed using Cronbach’s Alpha test (α). Results: Four translators, 10 experts, and 30 patients participated in the study. The expert committee adapted five out of nine items (item 2, 3, 6, 8, and 10) to the Brazilian context. The pretesting phase showed good internal consistency (α = 0.74) for the nine items, including the pain pattern and the body chart domains. The Cronbach’s α of the instrument with seven descriptor items of pain was 0.83. Conclusions: The painDETECT was cross-culturally adapted into a Brazilian context and can be used to identify neuropathic components in pain of Brazilian patients. Clinical implications: PainDETECT is available for Brazilians to identify neuropathic components in pain.

RESUMO JUSTIFICATIVA E OBJETIVOS: As intervenções educativas via Internet apresentam potencial para facilitar o acesso a informações adequadas para as pessoas com dor. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a opinião de profissionais de saúde e a percepção da compreensão da dor e a modificação de comportamento de pacientes com dor musculoesquelética relacionadas ao instrumento on-line Caminho da Recuperação. MÉTODOS: Participaram do estudo profissionais de saúde e pacientes com dor musculoesquelética selecionados pela Internet. Os profissionais julgaram a qualidade do conteúdo do instrumento considerando os conceitos da educação em dor com base em neurociência usando uma escala Likert. As pessoas com dor utilizaram uma escala de 11 pontos (quanto maior o valor, maior a percepção) para avaliar o quanto o instrumento contribuiu para mudança. Os dados foram apresentados por meio da análise descritiva. RESULTADOS: Participaram 81 profissionais de saúde e 170 pessoas com dor. Para as pessoas com dor musculoesquelética a percepção do entendimento sobre a dor apresentou o maior valor médio (6,7/10) e o retorno para a atividade física o menor valor médio (5,2/10). CONCLUSÃO: O instrumento foi avaliado como excelente por profissionais de saúde em todos os itens. As pessoas com dor perceberam maior mudança para o entendimento da dor, o comportamento e os pensamentos negativos. As menores percepções ocorreram para retorno à atividade diária, aos exercícios e melhora dos relacionamentos.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Educational interventions delivered over the Internet have the potential to facilitate access to precise information for people with pain. The aim of this study was to evaluate the opinion of health care professionals and the perception of pain comprehension and the behavior modification of patients with musculoskeletal pain related to the on-line resource "Caminho da Recuperação" (Path of Recovery). METHODS: Health care professionals and patients with musculoskeletal pain were selected through the Internet. The professionals judged the quality of the instrument's content considering the concepts of pain education based on neuroscience using a Likert scale. People with pain used an 11-point scale (the higher the value, the greater the perception) to evaluate how the on-line resource contributed to change. Data was presented through descriptive analysis. RESULTS: The samples were composed of 81 health care professionals and 170 individuals with pain. In the group composed of people with musculoskeletal pain, the perception of the pain comprehension presented the highest mean value (6.7 / 10) and the return to physical activity the lowest mean value (5.2 / 10). CONCLUSION: The on-line resource was rated as excellent by health care professionals in all items. People with pain have noticed a greater shift towards comprehending pain, behavior and negative thoughts. The lowest perceptions occurred in terms of return to daily activity, exercises and improving relationships.

RESUMO JUSTIFICATIVA E OBJETIVOS: Até o presente momento, não existem dados sobre a percepção de injustiça em pessoas com dor musculoesquelética no Brasil. O presente estudo avaliou a percepção de injustiça em pessoas com dor musculoesquelética crônica e a sua associação com a intensidade de dor. MÉTODOS: Foram coletadas informações referentes à identificação e experiência de injustiça utilizando o Questionário de Injustiça Percebida e a intensidade da dor utilizando a escala numérica da dor. Foi realizada a análise descritiva dos dados. O teste de correlação de Pearson foi utilizado para se verificar a correlação entre a intensidade de dor e a injustiça percebida. O nível de significância adotado foi de alfa=95%. RESULTADOS: Foram incluídos 110 pacientes com dor musculoesquelética crônica, sendo 94 mulheres com média de idade de 62,9±14,9 anos. A média da injustiça percebida foi de 19,45±11,68 de um total de 48 pontos. A intensidade média de dor foi 6,39±2,48. A correlação entre a intensidade de dor e a injustiça percebida foi de r=0,23 [IC (95%) = 0,04 a 0,40; p=0,008]. A correlação entre culpa e injustiça e a intensidade de dor foi de r=0,16 (p=0,08). Para o domínio gravidade e irreparabilidade foi de r=0,28 (p=0,003). CONCLUSÃO: Os pacientes com dor musculoesquelética crônica apresentam baixos níveis de injustiça percebida. A pontuação total e o domínio de gravidade e irreparabilidade do instrumento de injustiça percebida apresentaram correlação fraca com a intensidade de dor.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: To date, there is no information on the perception of injustice in patients with musculoskeletal pain in Brazil. The present study evaluated the perception of injustice in individuals with chronic musculoskeletal pain and its association with pain intensity. METHODS: Information regarding the participants’ identification and experience of injustice was gathered using the Injustice Experience Questionnaire. Pain intensity data was collected through the numerical pain rating scale. The descriptive data analysis was performed. Pearson’s correlation test was used to verify the association between pain intensity and perceived injustice. The level of significance adopted was alpha=95%. RESULTS: The study was composed of 110 patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain being 94 women with a mean age of 62.9±14.9 years. The mean perceived injustice was 19.45±11.68 out of a total of 48 points. The mean pain intensity was 6.39±2.48. The correlation between pain intensity and perceived injustice was r=0.23 [CI (95%) = 0.04 to 0.40; p=0.008]. The correlation between blame and unfairness and pain intensity was r=0.16 (p=0.08). For the severity and irreparability domain the correlation was r=0.28 (p=0.003). CONCLUSION: Patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain presented low levels of perceived injustice. The total score and the severity and irreparability domain of the perceived injustice instrument showed a weak correlation with pain intensity.

Abstract Aims: This study aimed to present a technical evaluation proposal for the crawl stroke that can be used with large groups of swimmers, based on an observation sheet. Methods: Fifteen healthy university students aged between 18 and 30 years were chosen to participate in the study. The subjects were recorded swimming at a distance of 50 meters using the crawl technique at a comfortable and self-determined speed. The recordings simulated docent observation capacity. Five swimming teachers were selected to evaluate the proposed checklist and the subjects’ technique. An observation sheet was created based on references present in literature containing ten items that are considered fundamental for swimming movements. The study was divided into (i) checklist validation, (ii) intra-evaluator consistency, and (iii) inter-evaluator consistency. Results: The proposed checklist fulfilled the validity criteria, with intra-evaluator consistency varying between reasonable and substantial, with k varying between 0.36 and 0.73 respectively, while inter-evaluator consistency was deemed reasonable (k = 0.24). Conclusion: According to the results that were obtained, the suggested list is valid and adequate for what it proposes to do.

RESUMO JUSTIFICATIVA E OBJETIVOS: A realidade virtual pode ter ação modulatória sobre a dor e o sistema nervoso autônomo. O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar o efeito de dois estímulos diferentes de realidade virtual sobre o limiar de dor a pressão e a variabilidade da frequência cardíaca. MÉTODOS: Os voluntários sadios foram randomizados para dois grupos de realidade virtual, natureza e controle. Foram coletadas as medidas do limiar de dor a pressão pré e pós-estímulo e as medidas da variabilidade da frequência cardíaca pré, durante e após o estímulo de realidade virtual. Foi realizada a análise exploratória dos dados. O teste t foi utilizado para comparar o limiar de dor a pressão. Para as diferenças nas medidas da variabilidade da frequência cardíaca utilizou-se o modelo linear misto. O nível de significância adotado foi de 95%. RESULTADOS: O grupo realidade virtual natureza foi composto por 19 participantes com média de idade de 22,7±4,72 anos e o grupo realidade virtual controle foi composto por 22 participantes com média de idade de 21,13±2,42 anos. O grupo realidade virtual natureza apresentou um aumento do limiar de dor a pressão após realidade virtual e a diferença entre as médias foi de -0,41 [IC (95%)=-0,74 a -0,07; p=0,01]. Não houve diferença para os parâmetros da variabilidade da frequência cardíaca mensurados durante e após o estímulo de realidade virtual. CONCLUSÃO: O grupo que foi exposto a um estímulo de realidade virtual com cenas da natureza apresentou um aumento do limiar de dor. Não foram observadas diferenças na variabilidade da frequência cardíaca entre os grupos.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Virtual reality can have a modulatory action on pain and the autonomic nervous system. This study sought to verify the effect of two different VR stimuli on the pressure pain threshold and heart rate variability. METHODS: Healthy volunteers were randomized into two groups of virtual reality, nature and control. The pressure pain threshold was measured pre and post stimulus and heart rate variability measurements were collected pre, during and after virtual reality stimuli. The exploratory data analysis was performed. The t test was used to compare pressure pain threshold. For the differences in heart rate variability measurements, the linear mixed model was used. The level of significance adopted was 95%. RESULTS: The virtual reality nature group was composed of 19 participants with mean age of 22.7±4.72 years and the control virtual reality group was composed of 22 participants with mean age of 21.13±2.42 years. The virtual reality nature group showed an increase in the pressure pain threshold after virtual reality and the mean difference was -0.41 [CI (95%)= -0.74 to -0.07; p=0.01]. There was no difference in heart rate variability parameters measured during and after virtual reality stimulation. CONCLUSION: The group that was exposed to a virtual reality stimulus with scenes from nature showed an increase in the pressure pain threshold. There was no difference in heart rate variability between groups.

RESUMO JUSTIFICATIVA E OBJETIVOS: A dor pélvica crônica pode ser considerada uma das principais causas de morbidade e incapacidade funcional para as mulheres. A influência dos fatores psicossociais na dor pélvica crônica foi pouco explorada na literatura. O objetivo deste estudo foi caracterizar o perfil da dor pélvica crônica em mulheres, bem como buscar a presença de fatores psicossociais e a associação com dor e incapacidade. MÉTODOS: Estudo transversal que incluiu mulheres com dor pélvica crônica. Os dados referentes da dor, incapacidade e os fatores psicossociais foram coletados utilizando questionários específicos. Foram apresentadas as análises de frequência, tendência central e dispersão dos dados. O teste de correlação de Pearson foi utilizado para verificar a correlação entre dor, incapacidade e fatores psicossociais. O valor de significância estatística adotado foi de alfa=95%. RESULTADOS: O estudo foi composto por 25 mulheres, com média de idade de 45,4 anos. A intensidade de dor média no momento da avaliação foi de 4,76±3,39. A média de incapacidade foi de 4,01±2,32. A ansiedade apresentou média de 7,16±3,36 e estresse 7,04±3,16. O nível de limitação funcional teve correlação negativa com a intensidade da dor (r= -0,474; p=0,017), com o domínio gravidade da dor (r=-0,566; p=0,003) e com cinesiofobia (r= -0,550; p=0,001). CONCLUSÃO: As mulheres com doença pélvica crônica apresentaram níveis moderados de intensidade de dor e limitação funcional. Os fatores psicossociais com maior pontuação média foram a ansiedade e estresse. A intensidade de dor e o nível de limitação funcional estiveram correlacionados entre si e com a cinesiofobia.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Chronic pelvic pain can be considered one of the main causes of morbidity and functional disability in women. The influence of psychosocial factors on chronic pelvic pain has been little explored in the literature. This study sought to characterize the profile of chronic pelvic pain in women, the presence of psychosocial factors and the association with pain and disability. METHODS: This cross-sectional study included women with chronic pelvic pain. Data on pain, disability and psychosocial factors was collected using specific questionnaires. Analysis of frequency, central tendency and dispersion were presented. Pearson’s correlation test was used to verify the correlation between pain, disability and psychosocial factors. The statistical significance was set as alpha=95%. RESULTS: The study consisted of 25 women, with a mean age of 45.4 years. The mean pain intensity at the time of the assessment was 4.76±3.39. The mean disability was 4.01±2.32. Anxiety presented a mean of 7.16±3.36 and stress 7.04±3.16. The level of disability had a negative correlation with pain intensity (r = -0.474; p=0.017), with the pain severity domain (r=-0.566; p=0.003) and with kinesiophobia (r = -0.550; p=0.001). CONCLUSION: Women with chronic pelvic pain had moderate levels of pain intensity and disability. The psychosocial factors with the highest mean score were anxiety and stress. The intensity of pain and disability were correlated with each other and with kinesiophobia.

RESUMO JUSTIFICATIVA E OBJETIVOS: A dor crônica é um dos principais desafios para os sistemas de saúde. As estratégias comportamentais e a educação em dor apresentam grande potencial no tratamento de pessoas com dor crônica, especialmente pela modificação de crenças e do comportamento. Os jogos de tabuleiro podem ser uma estratégia educativa que contribui para a aprendizagem dos conceitos sobre dor e estratégias comportamentais. O objetivo deste estudo foi desenvolver um jogo de tabuleiro (ConheceDor) como ferramenta de intervenção para educação em dor. CONTEÚDO: A revisão sistemática para o desenvolvimento do jogo ConheceDor, considerou a estratégia de busca com os descritores "chronic pain", "musculoskeletal pain", "health education", "patient education","neuroscience education", "pain education", "therapeutic neuroscience education". Os desfechos primários considerados foram a intensidade da dor e a incapacidade. Foram incluídos 15 estudos com um total de 1.486 participantes. Seis estudos apresentaram redução da dor de pelo menos 10% e dois estudos atingiram uma melhora de pelo menos 30% na incapacidade. Para o desenvolvimento do jogo foram elaborados o layout do tabuleiro, as regras e os demais componentes (dados, cartas, pinos). As cartas do ConheceDor incluíram os temas mais utilizados nos estudos identificados que foram: pensamentos negativos, neurofisiologia da dor, manuseio do estresse e relaxamento, enfrentamento e exercícios físicos. CONCLUSÃO: A criação de um jogo de tabuleiro considerou uma análise crítica da literatura dos conteúdos das estratégias educativas presentes nos ensaios clínicos. O desenvolvimento dessa intervenção pode ser um recurso para ser aplicado na prática clínica em pessoas com dor musculoesquelética.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Chronic pain is one of the main challenges for health systems. Pain education and self-motivated strategies have great potential in the treatment of people with chronic pain, especially by modifying beliefs and behavior. The development of board games for educational purposes can contribute to the learning of pain concepts and behavioral strategies. The objective of this study was to develop a board game (ConheceDor) to be used as an intervention tool for pain education. CONTENTS: The systematic review for the development of the game ConheceDor, considered the following search strategy: "chronic pain", "musculoskeletal pain", "health education", "patient education", "neuroscience education", "pain education", "therapeutic neuroscience education". The primary outcomes considered were pain intensity and disability. Fifteen studies were included, with a total of 1,486 participants. Six studies reported reduction on pain of at least 10%, and two studies reported an improvement of at least 30% on disability. For the development of the game, we elaborated the layout of the board, the rules and other components (dice, cards, and pins). The cards of the game included the contents commonly used in the randomized controlled trials: negative thoughts, pain neurophysiology, stress management, and relaxation, coping and exercises. CONCLUSION: The development of the present board game was based on the critical appraisal of the content of educational strategies present in the literature. The board game can be a potent resource to be applied in clinical practice in people with musculoskeletal pain.
