Resumen La planificación de la arborización urbana es fundamental para el mejoramiento del microclima urbano, por lo cual, es necesaria con el fin de evitar varios problemas ambientales. El objetivo general de este trabajo fue evaluar la influencia del microclima que proporcionan los árboles de diferentes tamaños y así para determinar cuál proporciona un mejor rendimiento en la reducción térmica y el aumento de la humedad relativa. El estudio se llevó a cabo en el campus de la Universidad Federal de Viçosa, en Viçosa-MG, Brasil. Se utilizaron veintisiete árboles, de nueve especies diferentes, clasificados en tres tamaños de altura (pequeño, mediano y grande). La toma de datos se realizó desde agosto a septiembre de 2019, en días de cielo despejado o con pocas nubes, desde la 13:00 a las 15:00 horas, con intervalos de monitoreo contados cada 30 segundos, durante 20 minutos para cada árbol. Los resultados indican a nivel general que bajo la sombra proyectada del árbol se genera una reducción aproximada de 4°C de la temperatura del aire y un aumento de las 6,03 unidades de la humedad relativa, al igual que, un aumento de 0,15 m/s de la velocidad del viento. La sombra proyectada por los árboles de tamaños (pequeño, mediano y grande) presentaron una disminución de la temperatura (3,18 °C, 4,19 °C y 3,43 °C), respectivamente, y un aumento de la humedad relativa (5,30 unidades, 7,31 unidades y 5,52 unidades). Las especies de tamaño mediano presentan un mejor resultado de la regulación del microclima, los cuales, representan un aumento de la humedad relativa de 7,31 unidades y una disminución de la temperatura de 4,19 °C. De todas las especies estudiadas; la especie Licania tomentosa presentó los mejores resultados en la regulación del microclima en términos de comparación temperatura y humedad relativa. Por tal motivo, Se llegó a la conclusión de que los árboles de tamaño medio presentaban los mejores resultados en la mejora microclimática.

Abstract Urban tree planting planning is fundamental for the improvement of the urban microclimate and is therefore necessary in order to avoid various environmental problems. The general objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of the microclimate provided by the trees of different sizes and thus, to determine which provides a better performance in the thermal reduction and the increase of relative humidity. The study was carried out at the campus of the Federal University of Viçosa, in Viçosa-MG, Brazil. Twenty-seven trees were used, from nine different species, classified in three height sizes (small, medium and large). Data collection was carried out from August to September 2019, on clear or cloudless days, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., with monitoring intervals counted every 30 seconds, for 20 minutes for each tree. Results indicate that under the projected shade of the tree there is an approximate reduction of 4°C in the air temperature and an increase of 6.03 units of relative humidity, as well as an increase of 0.15 m/s in the wind speed. The shade projected by tree size (small, medium and large) showed a decrease in temperature (3.18 °C, 4.19 °C and 3.43 °C), respectively, and an increase in relative humidity (5.30 units, 7.31 units and 5.52 units). The medium size species present a better result of the regulation of the microclimate, which represent an increase in relative humidity of 7.31 units and a decrease in temperature of 4.19 °C. Of all the species studied; the species Licania tomentosa presented the best results in the regulation of the microclimate in terms of comparison of temperature and relative humidity. For this reason, it was concluded that the medium-sized trees presented the best results in microclimatic improvement.

RESUMO A floresta urbana gera um microclima mais agradável para o ser humano, tanto no seu interior como nas áreas externas próximas. Assim, o objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar a influência que as diferentes tipologias de floresta urbana exercem no seu entorno imediato, destacando quantitativamente as diferenças entre o microclima interno e externo a essas áreas. Para isso foram selecionadas diferentes formas de floresta urbana na cidade de Curitiba-PR: Remanescente Florestal, Área Verde Antiga, Área Verde Moderna, Arborização de Ruas e Árvore Isolada. A influência no entorno imediato foi analisada com o método de transectos móveis, percorrendo 500 m de distância de em uma rua adjacente à área selecionada, com coleta de dados a cada 50 m. Os resultados indicam diferenças estatísticas significativas entre o microclima interno e externo às tipologias de floresta urbana. Ao longo do transecto percorrido, a temperatura foi em média 2,3°C mais elevada do que no interior das tipologias de floresta urbana, a umidade relativa foi menor em 4,6 unidades e a velocidade do vento 0,2 m/s maior. A maior diferença de temperatura e umidade relativa entre o ambiente interno e externo foi encontrada no Remanescente Florestal e a menor na Arborização de Ruas. Conclui-se que as diferentes tipologias de floresta urbana exercem influência significativa no microclima do entorno imediato.

ABSTRACT The urban forest generates a microclimate more pleasant for the human being, in its interior as in the near external areas. Thus, the main goal of this research was to analyze the influence that the different typologies of urban forest exert in their immediate surrounding, highlighting quantitatively the differences between the internal and external microclimate to these areas. For this, areas of different types of urban forest were selected in the city of Curitiba-PR: Remaining Forest, Old Green Area, Modern Green Area, Street Trees and Isolated Tree. The influence in the immediate surrounding was analyzed with the mobile transect method, traveling 500 m away from a street adjacent to the selected area, with data collection every 50 m. The results indicate statistical differences between the internal and external microclimate to the typologies of urban forest. During the transect, the temperature was on average 2.3 ° C higher than in the interior of the urban forest typologies, the relative humidity was lower in 4.6 units and the wind velocity 0.2 m / s higher. The greatest difference in temperature and relative humidity between the internal and external environment was found in the Remaining Forest and the smallest in the Street Trees. It is concluded that the different typologies of urban forest exert a significant influence on the immediate surrounding microclimate.

RESUMO Para se investigar as funções ecológicas que as praças desempenham como áreas verdes urbanas, esta pesquisa teve o objetivo de inventariar e caracterizar a vegetação utilizada no paisagismo das praças de Curitiba - PR. Todas as espécies que ocorrem em 32 praças da cidade foram identificadas e quantificadas. Os resultados apontaram que foram encontradas 141 espécies, distribuídas em 58 famílias. Daquele total, 60,3% são arbóreas e 56,7% são de procedência exótica. A espécie que aparece em maior número de praças é Axonopus compressus (grama-são-carlos), presente em 96,9% dos casos. Entre as espécies arbóreas, Ceiba speciosa (paineira) é a de maior ocorrência, aparecendo em 46,9% das praças. Rhododendron simsii (azaleia) apresentou o maior número de exemplares, com 438 indivíduos. É importante considerar o número de exemplares, a diversidade de espécies, e suas características para que os benefícios ecológicos proporcionados pelas praças possam ser garantidos.

ABSTRACT To investigate the ecological functions that squares play as urban green areas, this research was designed to inventory and characterize the vegetation used in the landscaping of the squares of Curitiba-PR state. All species occurring in 32 squares in the city were identified and quantified. Results show that 141 species were found, belonging to 58 families. Of this total, 60.3% of species are of arboreal life and 56.7% are of exotic origin. The species that appear in more places is Axonopus compressus (grama-são-carlos), present in 96.9% of cases. Between tree species, Ceiba speciosa (paineira) is the most frequent, appearing in 46.9% of the squares. Rhododendron simsii (azalea) had the highest number of individuals, with 438. It is important to consider the number of individuals, the diversity of species and their characteristics so that the ecological benefits provided by these squares can be guaranteed.

ABSTRACT The main goal of this study was to determine the radius and intensity of the influence that different urban forest typologies exert on their surroundings. Thus, three distinct areas were selected for each type of urban forest: Remaining Forest, Old Green Area, Modern Green Area, Street Trees and Isolated Trees. The influence of these typologies on the surrounding microclimate was determined by mobile transects, collecting data every 50 m from a total route of 500 m in an adjacent street. In general, the influence radius of the urban forest on its surroundings was 200 m, while the Remaining Forest typology reached 250 m. On average, the influence intensity of urban forest at a distance of 50 m was 0.66ºC, at 100 m it was 0.45ºC, at 150 m it was 0.34ºC, and at 200 m it was 0.30ºC, but each typology varied. All microclimate results were more pronounced in summer. We concluded that the urban forest exerts a significant climatic influence on its surroundings, regardless of the typology.

RESUMO A melhoria microclimática é frequentemente apontada como um dos benefícios gerados pela arborização urbana. No entanto, ainda são poucos os estudos que abordam quantitativamente essa questão. O objetivo dessa pesquisa foi quantificar a diferença microclimática entre ruas arborizadas e sem arborização, para cada estação do ano e arranjo paisagístico. Para isto foram selecionados três locais, contendo um trecho de rua com e sem arborização. Cada local apresentava diferentes espécies compondo os arranjos paisagísticos: Tipuana tipu, Handroanthus chrysotrichus e Lafoensia pacari com Parapiptadenia rigida. Para o monitoramento das variáveis meteorológicas, uma miniestação da marca Kestrel® permaneceu na rua arborizada e a outra na rua sem arborização. A coleta desses dados foi das 9 às 15 horas, com intervalo de monitoramento de 1 minuto, repetida nas quatro estações do ano, com início no inverno de 2011. As variáveis microclimáticas analisadas foram: temperatura, umidade relativa e velocidade do vento. Os resultados indicaram que a maior diferença de temperatura foi observada na estação do verão (2,5°C) e a menor no inverno (1,2°C). Para a umidade relativa, as diferenças ficaram entre 6,4% (primavera) e 5,6% (inverno) e para a velocidade do vento a maior diferença foi encontrada na estação do inverno (0,17 m/s). O arranjo paisagístico que utiliza o plantio com Tipuana tipu nos dois lados da rua, plantadas de modo a fazer com que suas copas se entrelacem e formem um túnel, é a melhor escolha para se buscar um microclima mais agradável em todas as estações do ano.

ABSTRACT Microclimate improvement is frequently stated as one of the benefits generated by urban forestry. However, there are still few studies that quantitatively approach this issue. The goal of this study was to quantify the microclimatic difference between streets with and without trees, for each season and landscaping type. For this, three locations were chosen. Each location showed different species composing landscaping types: Tipuana tipu, Handroanthus chrysotrichus, and Lafoensia pacari with Parapiptadenia rigida. A Kestrel® mini station was placed on a street with trees and another one on a street without trees. The daily period for collecting this data was from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with monitoring intervals of 1 minute, repeated during the four seasons of the year, beginning in the winter of 2011. The microclimatic variables analyzed were temperature, relative humidity and wind speed. The results indicated that the streets with trees always had lower temperatures and greater relative humidity values than the streets without trees. The greatest temperature difference was observed in the summer (2.5 oC) and the smallest one in the winter (1.2 oC). For relative humidity, the differences were between 6.4% (spring) and 5.6% (winter), and for wind speed the greatest difference was found in the winter (0.17m/s). Landscaping that uses Tipuana tipu on both sides of the street, planted in a way such as to make their canopies entangle and form a tunnel, is the best choice for a more pleasant microclimate in all seasons of the year.

RESUMO A implantação de áreas com vegetação arbórea tem sido proposta como forma de melhorar as condições climáticas das cidades. Contudo, ainda não se conhece quais os componentes da floresta urbana proporcionam efeitos mais satisfatórios. O objetivo da pesquisa foi determinar quais os componentes da paisagem proporcionam maior influência no microclima e no potencial de arrefecimento da floresta urbana. Para isso foram selecionadas áreas de diferentes tipologias de floresta urbana. Com o método de pontos fixos foi analisado o microclima das áreas e por meio de transectos móveis, um percurso com 500 m de caminhamento em rua adjacente, foi possível analisar a influência no entorno imediato, determinando o potencial de arrefecimento. Os resultados indicaram que o número de indivíduos e a densidade arbórea das áreas apresentaram forte correlação estatística com os valores de temperatura e umidade relativa, bem como com o potencial de arrefecimento. Além disso, verificou-se que 70% da influência que a floresta urbana proporciona no entorno imediato pode ser explicado pelo número de árvores. Conclui-se que o número e a densidade de indivíduos foram os componentes das tipologias de floresta urbana que exerceram maior influência no microclima, bem como no efeito de arrefecimento.

ABSTRACT Planting areas with arboreal vegetation has been proposed as a way to improve the climatic conditions of cities. However, it is not yet known which components of urban forest provide more satisfactory effects. The main goal of this study was to determine which components of the landscape provide greater influence on the microclimate and the cooling potential of the urban forest. For this, areas of different types of urban forest were selected. Using the fixed points method, the microclimate of the areas was analyzed, and by means of mobile transects walking a route of 500 m in an adjacent street, it was possible to analyze the influence in the immediate environment, determining the potential of cooling. The results indicated that the number of individuals and the tree density of the areas showed a statistically strong correlation with the temperature and relative humidity values, as well as with the cooling potential. In addition, it was found that 70% of the influence that the urban forest provides on the immediate surroundings can be explained by the number of trees. It is concluded that the number and density of individuals were the components of urban forest typologies that exerted greater influence on the microclimate, as well as on the cooling effect.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi comparar o microclima e conforto térmico proporcionado por um fragmento de floresta urbana existente no Campus III da UFPR com outros ambientes gramado, estacionamento e bosque de pinus. Para isso foram coletados dados meteorológicos nas quatro estações do ano. Os resultados encontrados mostram que os demais ambientes estudados são estatisticamente distintos do fragmento de floresta urbana, pois apresentaram maiores valores de temperatura do ar (3,5 °C em média) e menores valores de umidade relativa (em média 16%). O bosque de pinus apresentou a mesma classe de conforto térmico que o fragmento de floresta urbana em todas as estações, predominando a classe “sem estresse”. Os resultados demonstram a importância da cobertura arbórea, pois tanto o fragmento florestal como o bosque de pinus apresentam microclimas mais agradável e confortável termicamente do que os ambientes gramado e estacionamento.

The aim of this research was to compare the microclimate and thermal comfort provided by an urban forest fragment with other environments in the Campus III of the Federal University of Parana - UFPR: lawn, parking lot, and pine grove. To this end, meteorological data were collected in the four seasons. The results indicated that the urban forest fragment was statistically different from the other environments, which showed higher values of air temperature (mean of 3.5 °C) and lower values of relative humidity (mean of 16%). In all seasons, the pine grove showed the same category of thermal comfort of the urban forest fragment, with predominance of the “no stress” class. The results emphasize the importance of tree cover, because both the forest fragment and the pine grove provide more thermally comfortable microclimates than the other environments: lawn and parking lot.

O objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar a tendência das variáveis meteorológicas em ruas de Curitiba-PR, com e sem arborização. Para tanto, foram selecionados trechos (arborizados e sem arborização) de ruas dos bairros Alto da Rua XV, Hugo Lange e Bacacheri. Utilizaram-se duas miniestações meteorológicas da marca Kestrel®. A coleta dos dados meteorológicos ocorreu das 9 às 15 horas, com intervalo de monitoramento de um minuto, repetida nas quatro estações do ano, com início no inverno de 2011. As variáveis microclimáticas analisadas foram: temperatura do ar, umidade relativa e velocidade do vento. Os resultados indicaram que os valores de temperatura do ar das ruas arborizadas estiveram abaixo dos valores das ruas sem arborização ao longo de todo o período de monitoramento. O inverso ocorreu para a umidade relativa. A velocidade do vento apresentou padrão variável dentro de cada amostra e estação. Com a tendência destas variáveis, pode-se concluir que a arborização de ruas proporciona um microclima urbano mais ameno durante a maior parte do dia.

In this study, we aimed to analyze the periodic variation of meteorological variables in tree-lined streets in Curitiba, Parana state, Brazil. To this end, we selected a few stretches of streets with and without trees. Two Kestrel® mini weather stations were used. The data collection period was from 9 AM to 3 PM with 1-minute monitoring interval during the four seasons, starting in winter 2011. The microclimatic variables assessed were temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed. The results indicated that the temperature values for the tree-lined street stretches were lower than those for the stretches without trees along the entire monitoring period. The opposite occurred with the relative humidity values. The wind speed values varied according to each sample and station. In conclusion, the periodic variation of meteorological variables showed that tree-lined streets provide a milder microclimate during most of the day.
