RESUMO Objetivo Verificar evidências sobre aplicação da TAA na saúde realizando revisão sistemática da literatura. Estratégia de pesquisa Foi realizado levantamento em quatro bases de dados com os descritores: terapia assistida por animais (Animal Assisted Therapy), terapia assistida por cavalos (Equine-Assisted Therapy), fonoaudiologia (speech therapy). Critérios de seleção Artigo publicado entre 2010 e 2018, em português ou inglês, com acesso eletrônico livre e que mencionava as características do programa de intervenção. Análise dos dados Critérios: casuística, área do conhecimento, característica do programa, tipo de pesquisa, ano e língua de publicação, nacionalidade, periódico e fator de impacto. Resultados 43 artigos publicados em 30 periódicos, 16 com fator de impacto, foram revisados. Os estudos clínicos prevaleceram (93,02%), 37,20% eram da Medicina, a população estudada tinha diferentes diagnósticos e idades, sendo 55,81% com adultos/idosos. A TAA foi usada preferencialmente para reabilitação física (67,44%) e o principal mediador foi o cão citado em 72,09% dos artigos. Foram descritos oito (n=8) programas com foco na intervenção em comunicação. Conclusão Há evidências científicas sobre o uso da TAA publicadas no período estudado, no Brasil e no mundo. Os programas eram utilizados por diferentes profissionais da saúde e educação. As metas da TAA eram específicas para o perfil dos participantes e condizentes com as características do animal mediador e do local.

ABSTRACT Purpose to verify the applications of AAT in health by performing a systematic review of the literature. Research strategy a survey was carried out in four databases with the descriptors: animal assisted therapy, horse assisted therapy, speech therapy. Selection criteria article published between 2010 and 2018, in Portuguese or English, free electronic access and that mentioned the characteristics of the intervention program. Data analysis criteria: casuistry, area of knowledge, program characteristic, type of research, year and language of publication, nationality, periodical and impact factor. Results 43 articles published in 30 journals, 16 with impact factor, were reviewed. Clinical studies prevailed (93.02%), 37.20% were from Medicine, the population studied had different diagnoses and ages, 55.81% with adults / elderly. AAT was used preferentially for physical rehabilitation (67.44%) and the main mediator was the dog, mentioned in 72.09% of the articles. Eight (n = 8) programs with a focus on communication intervention were described. Conclusion There is scientific evidence on the use of AAT published in the period studied, in Brazil and in the world. The programs were used by different health and education professionals. The AAT goals were specific to the profile of the participants, and consistent with the characteristics of the mediator animal and the site.

RESUMO Objetivo Verificar a associação entre idade, nível socioeconômico e o desempenho em prova de vocabulário emissivo e receptivo de crianças com desenvolvimento típico de linguagem. Método Participaram 60 estudantes da Educação Infantil, com idade entre 3 a 5:11 anos, de ambos os gêneros, com desenvolvimento típico de linguagem, divididos em Grupos: GI (ẋ 3:6 anos), GII (ẋ 4:4 anos) e GIII (ẋ 5:9 anos). Foram aplicados, individualmente, os testes de Linguagem Infantil ABFW- parte Vocabulário e o Peabody para vocabulário emissivo e receptivo, respectivamente, e o preenchimento do questionário de classificação socioeconômica da Associação Brasileira de Empresas de Pesquisa (ABEP) pelo responsável. Os dados foram analisados conforme critérios dos instrumentos e dispostos em planilha de Excel for Windows XP®. Foi utilizado modelo de Regressão Linear múltipla, adotou-se um nível de significância de 5% para estudar a relação entre a idade, o nível socioeconômico e o desempenho em prova de vocabulário receptivo e emissivo. Resultados No ABEP, os participantes foram classificados em sua maioria no nível social C (63,3%), seguido do B (26,6%) e D (10%). Apresentaram vocabulário emissivo e receptivo condizente com a faixa etária. No vocabulário emissivo e receptivo, houve diferença estatística para a variável idade e nível socioeconômico. Verificou-se maior pontuação nos testes, conforme o avanço da idade e do nível socioeconômico, do nível social “B” para o “D”, e do “C” para o “D”. Conclusão As variáveis idade e nível socioeconômico podem influenciar o desempenho nas provas de vocabulário emissivo e receptivo do grupo estudado.

ABSTRACT Purpose To investigate the correlation between age, socioeconomic status (SES), and performance on emissive and receptive vocabulary tests in children with typical language development. Methods The study sample was composed of 60 preschool children of both genders, aged 3 years to 5 years 11 months, with typical language development divided into three groups: G I (mean age=3 years 6 months), G II (mean age=4 years 4 months) and G III (mean age=5 years 9 months). The ABFW Child Language Test - Vocabulary and the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVT) for emissive and receptive language were applied to the preschoolers. The socioeconomic classification questionnaire of the Brazilian Association of Survey Companies (ABEP) was applied to the preschoolers’ parents/legal guardians. Data were analyzed according to the criteria of the aforementioned instruments and were arranged in Excel spreadsheet for Windows XP®. A multiple linear regression model was used, adopting a statistical significance level of 5%, to analyze the correlation between age, SES, and performance on the receptive and emissive vocabulary tests. Results In the ABEP questionnaire, participants were classified mostly into social level C (63.3%), followed by levels B (26.6%) and D (10%). The preschoolers investigated presented emissive and receptive vocabulary adequate for the age groups. No statistically significant difference was found for the variables age and SES regarding emissive and receptive vocabulary. Higher test scores were observed with increased age and SES, for social levels “B” compared with “D” and for “C” with “D”. Conclusion The variables age and socioeconomic status influenced the performance on emissive and receptive vocabulary tests in the study group.

RESUMO Objetivo Comparar os resultados da Memória de Trabalho - Alça Fonológica (MTAF) em crianças com dificuldades específicas em aritmética. Método O estudo foi realizado com 30 crianças, com idade entre sete e nove anos que frequentavam a segunda ou terceira série do Ensino Fundamental da rede pública de ensino. Foram excluídas da pesquisa as crianças com sinais sugestivos de perda auditiva, alterações neurológicas, baixo desempenho na prova de compreensão leitora ou em acompanhamento fonoaudiológico. As crianças incluídas na pesquisa foram submetidas ao subteste de aritmética do Teste de Desempenho Escolar para divisão em dois grupos (G1 e G2). O G1 foi composto por crianças com baixo desempenho em aritmética e o G2, por crianças com desempenho médio/superior em aritmética. Todas as crianças foram submetidas à avaliação da MTAF por meio da prova de repetição de palavras sem significado. Para análise estatística, foi utilizado o teste de Mann-Whitney, considerados significativos os valores de p-valor <0,05. Resultados Participaram do estudo 20 meninas e 10 meninos, com idade média de 8,7 anos. O G1 foi composto por 17 crianças e o G2, por 13 crianças. Houve diferença estatisticamente significativa entre os grupos estudados para a repetição de palavras sem significado com três e quatro sílabas, com pior desempenho para o G1. Conclusão Os resultados deste estudo fornecem suporte para a hipótese de que a alteração na MTAF está relacionada com dificuldades em aritméticas.

ABSTRACT Purpose To compare the results of Loop Phonological Working Memory (LPWM) in children without global learning alterations, with lower and average/higher arithmetic performance. Methods The study was conducted with 30 children, between the ages of seven and nine years old, who attended the second or third grade of elementary school in the public network. Exclusion criteria were children with suggestive signs of hearing loss, neurological disorders, poor performance in the reading comprehension test or in speech therapy. The children included in the study were submitted to the subtest of arithmetic of Academic Achievement Test for division into two groups (G1 and G2). The G1 was composed of children with low performance in arithmetic and G2 for children with average/higher performance in arithmetic. All children were submitted to PWM assessment through the repetition of pseudowords test. Statistical analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney test and a p-value <0.05 was considered significant. Results The study included 20 girls and 10 boys, mean age 8.7 years. The G1 was composed of 17 children and G2 of 13 children. There was a statistically significant difference between the groups studied for the repetition of pseudowords with three and four syllables. Conclusion The results of this study provide support for the hypothesis that changes in phonological working memory are related to difficulties in arithmetic tests.

RESUMO Objetivo: comparar a qualidade de vida (QV) dos estudantes de Fonoaudiologia em diferentes períodos de graduação e identificar propostas para sua melhoria. Métodos: estudo transversal, exploratório e descritivo a partir de amostra por conveniência. Participaram 117 estudantes (segundo semestre de 2012), subdivididos pelo período de graduação: G1 (n=24) segundo, G2 (n=33) quarto, G3 (n=34) sexto e G4 (n=26) oitavo. Utilizou-se o instrumento WHOQOL-bref, acrescentando-se uma questão aberta: "Como a Coordenação do Curso de Fonoaudiologia poderia contribuir para a melhoria de sua qualidade de vida?". Utilizou-se o teste estatístico não paramétrico Kruskal Wallis, nível de significância de 5% (p<0.05). Calculou-se a frequência absoluta e relativa das respostas da questão aberta, categorizadas pelo conteúdo, e gerais. Resultados: predominou boa QV (53,84%) e satisfação com a saúde (49,57%). Não houve associação estatística significativa entre os grupos (p>0.05). A QV diminuiu em todos os domínios, do G2 ao G3, aumentando no G4. G3 foi pior. Obteve-se maior média no domínio relações sociais e menor, no meio ambiente. Verificou-se maior percentual (40%) na categoria "aumento da formação para cinco anos". Conclusão: não houve diferenças discrepantes da QV entre os períodos, sendo pior, o sexto. Relações sociais apresentou melhor domínio e o meio ambiente, o pior.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to compare the quality of life (QoL) of speech therapy students in different undergraduate semesters and identify proposals for improvement. Methods: this is a cross-sectional, exploratory and descriptive study using a convenience sample. A total of 117 undergraduate students participated in the study and they were divided according to the undergraduate semester: G1 (n = 24) second semester, G2 (n = 33) fourth semester, G3 (n = 34) sixth semester and G4 (n = 26) eighth semester. The WHOQoL-Bref was the instrument used, which also included an open question: "How can the coordination of the Speech and Language Therapy Course contribute to the improvement of your quality of life?" The non-parametric statistical Kruskal Wallis test was used at significance level of 5% (p < 0.05). The absolute and relative frequencies of responses to the open question were calculated and categorised by specific and general content. Results: QoL was predominantly good (53.84%) and health satisfactory (49.57%). There was no statistically significant association between the groups (p > 0.05). QoL decreased in all domains from G2 to G3, increasing in G4. G3 had the worst QoL perception. Social relations and environment were the domains with the highest and lowest mean values, respectively. The highest percentage (40%) was in the category "5-year undergraduate course". Conclusion: There were no significant differences in the QoL between the undergraduate semesters, with the sixth semester being the worst. Social relations had the highest mean value, whereas environment the lowest.

RESUMO Objetivo: investigar a percepção de graduandos e profissionais de Fonoaudiologia de um serviço de baixa e média complexidade em relação à utilização de prontuário eletrônico na prática clínica. Métodos: participaram 51 usuários do prontuário, dos quais, 45 graduandos do 6° e 8° período e seis fonoaudiólogos. Todos responderam a um questionário dirigido. Para a análise estatística, utilizou-se o teste exato de Fisher e o cálculo das frequências absoluta e relativa das respostas. Resultados: a utilização do Prontuário enquanto ferramenta eletrônica padronizada e institucional foi considerada por estudantes e fonoaudiólogos, respectivamente como, organizada e dinâmica (60,00% e 33,33%), de fácil manuseio (80,00% e 83,33%) e eficaz em relação ao prontuário físico (60,00% e 66,67%). Quanto ao uso/benefício, foi considerado um facilitador para o atendimento clínico por 82,22% dos estudantes e; 100,00% dos fonoaudiólogos, trazendo beneficiando usuários e profissionais (G1=80,00%; G2= 100,00%), com redução do tempo de espera pelo atendimento (G1=42,22%; G2= 50%). Conclusão: os participantes consideraram o Prontuário Eletrônico como uma ferramenta eletrônica padronizada e institucional adequada, mais eficaz em relação ao prontuário físico e que beneficiou o atendimento clínico fonoaudiológico no serviço de baixa e média complexidade. Verificou-se que houve diferença na forma que os usuários percebem o Prontuário Eletrônico. Os profissionais mostraram-se mais satisfeitos à adequação desta ferramenta às necessidades do atendimento para registrar a evolução clínica e ao conteúdo dos dados inseridos neste registro e menos satisfeitos com a existência de falhas, comparado aos graduandos.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to investigate the perception of Speech Therapy professionals and graduating of a low and medium complexity's service regarding the use of electronic Medical Records in clinical practice. Methods: 51 users participated of PE, of which, 45 graduating of 6th and 8th period (G1) and 6 speech therapists (G2). All answered a survey directed. For the statistical analysis, it was used the Fisher's exact test and the calculation of absolute and relative frequencies of the answers. Results: the use of Medical Records as standardized and institutional electronic tool was considered by students and speech therapists, respectively as organized and dynamic (60,00% and 33,33%), of an easy handling (80,00% and 83,33%) and efficient regarding the physical medical records (60,00% and 66,67%). As for the use/benefit, it was considered a facilitator for clinical care (G1=82,22%; G2=100,00%), benefiting users and professionals (G1=80,00%; G2= 100,00%). Conclusion: the participants considered the Medical Records as an appropriate institutional and standardized electronic tool, more effective compared to physical medical records and that benefited the clinical attendance of speech therapy in the service of low and medium complexity. It was verified that there were differences in the way users perceive the Medical Records. The professionals were more satisfied the appropriateness of this tool to the needs of care to register the clinical course and content of the data entered in this record and less satisfied with the existence of faults, compared to graduates.

CONTEXTO E OBJETIVO:A síndrome da respiração oral é muito comum em crianças em idade escolar, e está possivelmente relacionada a dificuldades de aprendizagem e baixo rendimento escolar. Neste estudo, investigamos memória operacional, compreensão de leitura e habilidades aritméticas em crianças com respiração nasal e oral.TIPO DE ESTUDO E LOCAL:Estudo transversal analítico com grupo controle realizado em hospital universitário público.MÉTODOS:42 crianças (média = 8,7 anos) identificadas com respiração oral foram comparadas a um grupo controle (média = 8,4 anos) e pareadas por idade e escolaridade. Todos os participantes foram submetidos a entrevista clínica, audiometria tonal, avaliação otorrinolaringológica e avaliação cognitiva da memória operacional fonológica (números e pseudopalavras), compreensão de leitura e aritmética.RESULTADOS:Crianças com respiração oral tiveram desempenho significativamente inferior ao de respiradores nasais em compreensão de leitura (P = 0,006), aritmética (P = 0,025) e memória operacional para pseudopalavras (P = 0,002), mas não para números (P = 0,76).CONCLUSÕES:Crianças com respiração oral apresentam baixo rendimento escolar e menor memória operacional fonológica em comparação ao grupo controle. Professores e profissionais da saúde devem atentar para a associação da respiração oral com a saúde física e cognitiva das crianças.

CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE:Mouth breathing syndrome is very common among school-age children, and it is possibly related to learning difficulties and low academic achievement. In this study, we investigated working memory, reading comprehension and arithmetic skills in children with nasal and mouth breathing.DESIGN AND SETTING:Analytical cross-sectional study with control group conducted in a public university hospital.METHODS:42 children (mean age = 8.7 years) who had been identified as mouth breathers were compared with a control group (mean age = 8.4 years) matched for age and schooling. All the participants underwent a clinical interview, tone audiometry, otorhinolaryngological evaluation and cognitive assessment of phonological working memory (numbers and pseudowords), reading comprehension and arithmetic skills.RESULTS:Children with mouth breathing had poorer performance than controls, regarding reading comprehension (P = 0.006), arithmetic (P = 0.025) and working memory for pseudowords (P = 0.002), but not for numbers (P = 0.76).CONCLUSION:Children with mouth breathing have low academic achievement and poorer phonological working memory than controls. Teachers and healthcare professionals should be aware of the association of mouth breathing with children's physical and cognitive health.
