ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to analyze data on physical activity and rumination time monitored via collars at the farm coupled with milk yield recorded by the rotary milking system to predict cows based on several disorders using the binary Logistic regression conducted with R software. Data for metritis (n=60), mastitis (n=98), lameness (n=35), and digestive disorders (n=52) were collected from 1,618 healthy cows used to construct the prediction model. To verify the feasibility and adaptability of the proposed method, we analyzed data of cows in the same herd (herd 1) not used to construct the model, and cows in another herd (herd 2) with data recorded by the same type of automated system, and led to detection of 75.0%, 64.2%, 74.2%, and 76.9% animals in herd 1 correctly predicted to suffer from metritis, mastitis, lameness, and digestive disorders, respectively. For cows in herd 2, 66.6%, 58.8%, 80.7%, and 71.4% were correctly predicted for metritis, mastitis, lameness, and digestive disorders, respectively. Compared with traditional clinical diagnoses by farm personnel, the algorithm developed allowed for earlier prediction of cows with a disorder.

RESUMO Os objetivos deste estudo foram analisar dados sobre a atividade física e o tempo de ruminação monitorados através de coleiras na fazenda junto com a produção de leite registrada pelo sistema rotativo de ordenha para prever vacas com base em vários distúrbios utilizando o software de regressão logística binária realizado com o software R. Dados para metrite (n=60), mastite (n=98), manqueira (n=35) e distúrbios digestivos (n=52) foram coletados de 1.618 vacas saudáveis foram usados para construir o modelo de previsão. Para verificar a viabilidade e adaptabilidade do método proposto, analisamos os dados de vacas do mesmo rebanho (rebanho 1) não utilizadas para construir o modelo, e vacas de outro rebanho (rebanho 2) com dados registrados pelo mesmo tipo de sistema automatizado, e levamos à detecção de 75,0%, 64,2%, 74,2%, e 76,9% de animais do rebanho 1 previstos corretamente para sofrer de metrite, mastite, manqueira e distúrbios digestivos, respectivamente. Para as vacas do rebanho 2, 66,6%, 58,8%, 80,7% e 71,4% foram previstos corretamente para metrite, mastite, manqueira e distúrbios digestivos, respectivamente. Em comparação com os diagnósticos clínicos tradicionais feitos pelo pessoal da fazenda, o algoritmo desenvolvido permitiu a previsão antecipada de vacas com um distúrbio.

ABSTRACT Background Several studies have explored the impact of BMI on size and composition of urinary stones. Because there were controversies, a meta-analysis was necessary to be carried out to provide some evidence of the relationship of BMI and urolithiasis. Materials and Methods PubMed, Medline, Embase, Web of Science databases, and the Cochrane Library were searched up to August 12th 2022 for eligible studies. The urolithiasis patients were summarized into two groups: BMI < 25 and ≥ 25 kg/m2. Summary weighted mean difference (WMD), relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated through random effects models in RevMan 5.4 software. Results A total of fifteen studies involving 13,233 patients were enrolled in this meta-analysis. There was no significant correlation of BMI and size of urinary stone (WMD -0.13mm, 95% CI [-0.98, 0.73], p = 0.77). Overweight and obesity increased the risk of uric acid stones in both genders and in different regions (RR=0.87, [95% CI] = 0.83, 0.91, p<0.00001). There was a higher risk of calcium oxalate stones formation in overweight and obesity group in total patients (RR=0.95, [95% CI] = 0.91, 0.98, p = 0.006). The relationship of BMI and calcium phosphate was not observed in this meta-analysis (RR=1.12, [95% CI] = 0.98, 1.26, p = 0.09). Sensitivity analysis was performed and indicated similar results. Conclusions The current evidence suggests a positive association between BMI and uric acid and calcium oxalate stones. It would be of great guiding significance to consider losing weight when treating and preventing urinary stones.

Abstract In order to develop a quick method for predicting fatty acid in rice storage, gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (GC-IMS) was applied to detect and analyze volatile organic compounds (VOCs) at different rice storage stages, and partial least squares regression (PLSR) algorithm was used to establish a linear regression model between fatty acid values and characteristic VOCs. The results showed that rice fatty acid values increased gradually with extension of storage time. Odor components of rice mainly included alcohols and aldehydes. Except for 1-octene-3-alcohol, the content of other VOCs showed an overall downward trend during the storage period. After variable optimization using two different algorithms, the correlation coefficient of the PLSR cross validation model could reach 0.9544, and the corresponding root mean square error was 2.4093. In conclusion, fatty acid values of rice with different storage periods could be accurately predicted by using characteristic VOCs variables and chemometric tools, which would provide a rapid and nondestructive detection method for rice quality during storage based on odor information.

Abstract The potential risk of cable-stayed arch-truss damage is large and the damage is undetectable. The damage identification methods based on frequency domain have limitations such as limited data and complex theoretical methods. A damage identification method based on multi-node time-domain data fusion was proposed to overcome these limitations. The time-domain data library was established by finite element analysis, and the time-domain data was preprocessed and augmented. Two CNNs models were established to identify the damage location and damage degree of cable-stayed arch-truss. The proposed method was verified by the analysis of a practical cable-stayed arch-truss scale model, and the recognition effect of the method on noisy data and noise-free data was studied respectively. The results showed that the CNN can effectively identify the damage degree and damage location of cable-stayed arch-truss structure with good robustness. CNN with Gaussian noise can accurately predict the damage degree of cable-stayed arch-truss. The prediction error of most elements is within 15%, which can meet the actual needs of engineering.

Abstract Excessive heavy metal cadmium in tomatoes is harmful to human health. The detection of heavy metals in tomato leaves can determine whether the heavy metals in tomatoes exceed the standard. In order to quickly, non-destructively and efficiently detect whether heavy metals on the surface of tomato leaves exceed the standard, a new wavelength interval selection method called Synergy interval PLS couple with Monte Carlo method (MC-siPLS) was proposed. From the seedling stage, concentration of 0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10 mg/L cadmium chloride (CdCl2) was used for irrigation under normal nutrient elements respectively. A total of 405 leaf samples were collected. Using the VIS-NIR hyperspectral instrument, the tomato leaves were set as the region of interest to obtain hyperspectral data, then used Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS) method to detect heavy metals in tomato leaves. In addition, 5 different PLS algorithm were used to compare with MC-siPLS. Furthermore, the best model was given by MC-siPLS with RMSEP = 0.5378, R2 = 0.9870. The results show that MC-siPLS was better than similar wavelength interval selection methods, which had great application potential in the nondestructive detection of heavy metals in tomato leaves. This method maybe determines whether tomatoes contain excess cadmium early.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Physical training is essential to physical fitness in freestyle skiers. The domain of stability in the technical movements is a determinant of the competition, always constantly improving. Objective: Develop a physical training program adapted to freestyle skiing. Methods: Twelve freestyle skiers were selected as volunteers for the experiment. This paper compares athletes’ physical qualities and individual abilities before and after physical training. Through recent research, the athletes’ physical condition was comprehensively evaluated to test the effectiveness of their physical training. results: Freestyle skiers showed good anaerobic fitness. A relationship was found between the maximum number of thrusts, the degree of spin in the air, the maximum power duration, and the power decay rate (P<0.05). In the body balance test, the lower limbs showed deficiencies in anteroposterior mobility, while bipodal balance showed no significantly statistical differences (P>0.05). Conclusion: This paper systematically studies body composition, the center of gravity strength, anaerobic capacity, and balance in freestyle skiers. The results provide a good assessment of the effect of fitness training on freestyle ski athletes. These results have particular guiding significance for formulating and implementing training programs focused on the sport. RESUMEN Introducción: El entrenamiento físico es una parte esencial de la aptitud física en los esquiadores de estilo libre. El dominio de la estabilidad en los movimientos técnicos es determinante sobre las competiciones, estando siempre en constante mejora. Objetivo: Desarrollar un programa de entrenamiento físico adaptado al deporte del esquí de estilo libre. Métodos: Se seleccionaron doce esquiadores de estilo libre como voluntarios para el experimento. Este artículo compara las cualidades físicas y las capacidades individuales de los atletas antes y después del entrenamiento físico. Mediante una investigación reciente, se evaluó exhaustivamente la condición física de los atletas para comprobar la eficacia de su entrenamiento físico. Resultados: Los esquiadores de estilo libre mostraron una buena aptitud anaeróbica. Se encontró una relación particular entre el número máximo de empujes y el grado de giro en el aire, la duración de la potencia máxima y la tasa de disminución de la potencia (P<0,05). En la prueba de equilibrio corporal, los miembros inferiores mostraron deficiencias en la movilidad anteroposterior, mientras que el equilibrio bipodal no mostró diferencias estadísticas significativas (P>0,05). Conclusión: Este artículo proporciona un estudio sistemático de la composición corporal, la fuerza gravitatoria central, la capacidad anaeróbica y el equilibrio en esquiadores de estilo libre. Los resultados proporcionan una buena evaluación del efecto del entrenamiento físico en los atletas de esquí de estilo libre. Estos resultados tienen una especial importancia orientativa para la formulación y aplicación de programas de entrenamiento centrados en este deporte. RESUMO Introdução: O treinamento físico é parte essencial da aptidão física em esquiadores de estilo livre. O domínio da estabilidade nos movimentos técnicos é determinante sobre as competições, estando sempre em constante aprimoramento. Objetivo: Elaborar um programa de treinamento físico adaptado ao esporte do esqui de estilo livre. Métodos: Selecionou-se 12 esquiadores de estilo livre como voluntários ao experimento. Este artigo compara as qualidades físicas e habilidades individuais dos atletas antes e depois do treinamento físico. Através de pesquisas recentes, avaliou-se de forma abrangente a condição física dos atletas para testar a eficácia de seu treinamento físico. Resultados: Os esquiadores de estilo livre apresentaram uma boa praticabilidade anaeróbica. Foi encontrada uma relação particular entre o número máximo de propulsões e o grau de giro no ar, a duração máxima da potência e a taxa de decaimento da potência (P<0,05). No teste de equilíbrio corporal, os membros inferiores apresentaram deficiências de mobilidade anteroposterior, enquanto o equilíbrio bipodal não apresentou diferenças significativamente estatísticas (P>0,05). Conclusão: Este artigo fornece um estudo sistemático da composição corporal, força do centro gravitacional, capacidade anaeróbica e equilíbrio em esquiadores de estilo livre. Os resultados proporcionam uma boa avaliação do efeito de treinamento de aptidão física nos atletas de esqui de estilo livre. Estes resultados têm um significado orientador particular para a formulação e implementação de programas de treinamento focados na modalidade. Abstract Polygonum capitatum (Polygonaceae) exists in rural areas of Southwest China and some other Asian countries. Its aerial part or whole herbal plant has been used as a Miao ethnomedicine against urinary system diseases, infections, pyelonephritis, diarrhea, and so on. The progress in phytochemical research on P. capitatum over the past decades is summarized. Two hundred and three chemical constituents that have been isolated and identified from this plant are included in this article, the chemical structures of which include aliphatic hydrocarbons, aliphatic alcohols, aliphatic ketones, aromatic aldehydes, aliphatic acids, glycerides, triterpenic acids, sterols, anthraquinones, chromones and their glycosides, flavonoids and their glycosides, phenols, phenolic acids and their esters, lignanoids, flavonolignans, phenolic glycosides, alcoholic glycosides, amino acids, nucleobases, amides, alkaloids, alkyl glycosides, volatile oils, and polysaccharides.

Abstract On the increasing prevalence of using mAbs (monoclonal antibodies) in cancer therapy and the severe risk of hyperglycemia, we aimed to analyze the main clinical ADRs of mAbs, with a focus on adverse hyperglycemic events associated with currently clinically used mAbs. mAbs as well as target information were selected from Martinadale book and published articles. Drug approving information was collected from each government website, and ADR statistic data were collected from VigibaseR, comparing with Adverse Event Reporting System of US FDA. Top 10 mAbs were classified within listing in total ADR records, ADRs per year, hyperglycemic ADR records. Vigibase data were updated onto 15 Feb 2019. 20 mAbs were analyzed with 263217 ADR reports, wherein 16751 records on Metabolism and nutrition disorders and 1444 records on Glucose metabolism disorders. The geographic, age, gender distributions and annual ADR report numbers were listed respectively. Of the top 10, Rituximab, Bevacizumab and Nivolumab were on the top 3 in total ADR record and hyperglycemic record. Top 3 record results were similar in Vigibase and FDA database. It is of increasing importance for clinicians to be aware of early detection, patient management, or drug selection strategies when using mAbs, particularly within the high glycemic risk-reported mAbs, to improve the efficacy and tolerability of mAbs regiment and optimize patient outcomes.

Abstract This study revealed for the first time the dynamic changes of bacterial community and physic-chemical properties in the process of tomatoes fermentation. In the early phase of fermentation, Proteobacteria and Firmicutes account for 86.04% and 9.97%, respectively. Then, Firmicutes replaced Proteobacteria to be the dominant phylum from day 10. Among then, Lactobacillus decreased from 20 to 30 days and then rapidly increased. The total sugar showed a gradual decreased while the nitrite content increased in the early phases. The total acid content increased from initial 0.6% to 2.03% on day 30, mainly including citric acid, malic acid and lactic acid. In the later stages, the number of microorganisms and bacterial community tended to be stable, along with the content of organic acids and nitrite. During fermentation, the physic-chemical parameters inevitably change, mainly due to microbial metabolism, affecting in turns the development of the micro-ecosystem. These results contribute to our knowledge about bacterial participation in the process of fermentation and will help improve the quality of fermented food and vegetables.

Resumo Introdução: A fístula congênita do seio piriforme é uma doença relativamente rara na prática clínica; a maioria se manifesta na infância; entretanto, os médicos geralmente têm conhecimento insuficiente sobre essa condição clínica e seu diagnóstico é facilmente feito de forma errônea. Objetivo: Identificar as características do abscesso cervical profundo devido à fístula congênita de seio piriforme em crianças. Método: Estudo retrospectivo de 21 casos de janeiro de 2016 a agosto de 2018 em nosso hospital. Idade de início, características clínicas, exames auxiliares e tratamento clínico dos pacientes foram resumidos para analisar o diagnóstico, as características do tratamento e o prognóstico. Resultados: Foram incluídas crianças de 11 dias a 12 anos, com média de 3,5 anos. Vinte pacientes tinham fístula congênita de seio piriforme no lado esquerdo e um no lado direito; a tomografia computadorizada cervical com contraste mostrava distribuição líquido-gasosa ou sombra aérea nos abscessos em 18 casos. O ultrassom cervical demonstrou eco gasoso na região da tireoide em 10 casos. Todos os pacientes foram submetidos a plasma de baixa temperatura para queimar a fístula interna e retornaram ao hospital para exame com laringoscópio eletrônico e ultrassonografia cervical aos 3 meses, 6 meses e um ano após a cirurgia. Não houve recorrências. Conclusão: A fístula congênita de seio piriforme é uma causa importante de abscesso cervical profundo em crianças. A presença de conteúdo líquido-gasoso purulento ou sombra gasosa na tomografia computadorizada ou no ultrassom cervical sugere uma alta possibilidade da presença de uma fístula interna e a ablação endoscópica a baixa temperatura pode ser feita ao mesmo tempo que a endoscopia diagnóstica.

Abstract Introduction: Congenital piriform sinus fistula is a relatively rare type of disease in clinical practice, most occurring during childhood, but doctors have insufficient knowledge regarding this disease, easily misdiagnosing it. Objectives: This study aimed to identify the characteristics of deep neck abscess due to congenital piriform sinus fistula in children. Methods: We performed a retrospective study of 21 cases from January 2016 to August 2018 in our hospital. The onset age, clinical characteristics, auxiliary examination and clinical treatment of the patients was summarized to analyze the diagnosis, treatment characteristics and prognosis. Results: Children from 11 days to 12 years-old were enrolled, with an average age of 3.5 years. Twenty patients had left congenital piriform sinus fistula and 1 had right congenital piriform sinus fistula. Cervical enhanced computed tomography imaging showed gas-liquid equilibrium or air-shadow in the abscesses in 18 cases, and neck ultrasound demonstrated gas echo in the thyroid region in 10 cases. All patients underwent low temperature plasma to seal the internal fistula and returned to the hospital for electronic laryngoscope and neck ultrasound examination at 3 months, 6 months and 1 year after the surgery. No recurrence occurred in any patient. Conclusion: Congenital piriform sinus fistula is an important cause of deep neck abscess in children. The presence of purulent gas-liquid equilibrium or air shadow in cervical-enhanced computed tomography or ultrasound suggests a high possibility of the presence of an internal fistula, and endoscopic low temperature ablation can be done at the same time as the diagnostic endoscopy.

Abstract Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) is worldwide the sixth-largest food crop and highly drought resistant. The expression of the myeloblastosis (MYB) family protein MeMYB26 in cassava was previously reported to be significantly up-regulated under water deficit. To study the basic characterization, natural variations and potential functions of MeMYB26 for drought resistance in cassava, the protein was subjected to bioinformatics analysis, multiplex-PCR with next-generation sequencing and candidate association studies. The results indicated that MeMYB26 is a typical transcription factor, with two MYB DNA-binding and transcriptional activation domains. One stop-gained and five nonsynonymous variations in the genomic region of MeMYB26 were significantly associated with drought resistance traits. The results of the scale-free coexpression network showed that the MeMYB26 gene plays a critical role in plant stress resistance, growth and biomass development. It was concluded that MeMYB26 is a reliable candidate gene associated with drought tolerance and biomass storage in cassava.

Abstract Background Snake venoms are complex mixtures of toxic proteins or peptides encoded by various gene families that function synergistically to incapacitate prey. In the present study, in order to unravel the proteomic repertoire of Deinagkistrodon acutus venom, some trace abundance components were analyzed. Methods Shotgun proteomic approach combined with shotgun nano-LC-ESI-MS/MS were employed to characterize the medically important D. acutus venom, after collected samples were enriched with the combinatorial peptide ligand library (CPLL). Results This avenue helped us find some trace components, undetected before, in D. acutus venom. The results indicated that D. acutus venom comprised 84 distinct proteins from 10 toxin families and 12 other proteins. These results are more than twice the number of venom components obtained from previous studies, which were only 29 distinct proteins obtained through RP-HPLC for the venom of the same species. The present results indicated that in D. acutus venom, the most abundant components (66.9%) included metalloproteinases, serine proteinases, and C-type lectin proteins; the medium abundant components (13%) comprised phospholipases A2 (PLA2) and 5’-nucleotidases and nucleases; whereas least abundant components (6%) were aminopeptidases, L-amino acid oxidases (LAAO), neurotoxins and disintegrins; and the trace components. The last were undetected before the use of conventional shotgun proteomics combined with shotgun nano-LC-ESI-MS/MS, such as cysteine-rich secretory proteins Da-CRPa, phospholipases B-like 1, phospholipases B (PLB), nerve growth factors (NGF), glutaminyl-peptide cyclortransferases (QC), and vascular non-inflammatory molecules 2 (VNN2). Conclusion These findings demonstrated that the CPLL enrichment method worked well in finding the trace toxin proteins in D. acutus venom, in contrast with the previous venomic characterization of D. acutus by conventional LC-MS/MS. In conclusion, this approach combined with the CPLL enrichment was effective for allowing us to explore the hidden D. acutus venomic profile and extended the list of potential venom toxins.

ABSTRACT Tannins are polyphenols that are present in various plants, and potentially contain antioxidant properties that promote reproduction in animals. This study investigated how tannic acid (TA) affects the reproductive parameters of male Brandt’s voles, Lasiopodomys brandtii (Radde, 1861). Specifically, the anti-oxidative level of serum, autophagy in the testis, and reproductive physiology were assessed in males treated with TA from the pubertal stage. Compared to the control, low dose TA enhanced relative testis and epididymis weight and sperm concentration in the epididymis, and significantly increased the level of serum superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px). mRNA levels of autophagy related genes LC3 and Beclin1 decreased significantly with low dose TA compared to the control. However, compared to the control, high dose TA sharply reduced the levels of serum SOD, GSH-Px, CAT, serum testosterone (T), and mRNA level in steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (StAR) in the testis. Both sperm abnormality and mortality increased with high dose TA compared to the control and low dose TA. Collectively, this study demonstrated that TA treatment during puberty had a dose-dependent effect on the reproductive responses of male Brandt’s voles. TA might mediate autophagy in the testis, through both indirect and direct processes. TA mainly affected the reproductive function of male Brandt’s voles by regulating anti-oxidative levels. This study advances our understanding of the mechanisms by which tannins influence reproduction in herbivores.

ABSTRACT The objectives of our present study included the screening of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) that show significant differences in allelic frequencies between two buffalo populations (Egyptian and Chinese buffaloes), categorization of functional genes associated with these SNP by gene ontology, and pathway analyses to further understand their potential values as candidate genes closely associated with milk yield trait in buffaloes. In this study, double digest restriction-site associated DNA sequencing was performed on Illumina HiSeq 2500 platform for 20 and 25 female buffaloes from Egypt and China, respectively. Approximately 118 Gb of sequencing data were obtained, and a total of 110,129 and 150,535 putative SNP were detected in Egyptian and Chinese buffaloes, respectively. Focused only on those SNP that differed significantly in allelic frequencies between the two populations, we found that genes associated with these SNP were significantly over-represented in the ionotropic glutamate receptor pathway, the endothelin signaling pathway, and the gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor pathway, which contained a total of 29 genes. Of these, nine genes ( ADCY5, CACNA1A, CREB1, INHBA , INHBB, PIK3R1, PLCB1, PRKCE , and SMAD2 ) participating in the hormonal regulation of lactation, were considered to be promising candidate genes worthy of further investigations for favorable alleles associated with milk yield. Our results provide useful information about genetic variations in Egyptian and Chinese buffaloes. The potential influences of nine candidate genes and their associated SNP on milk yield need to be validated in more buffalo populations.

Abstract Abstract: The hepatoprotective effects of the ethanolic extracts of propolis (EEP) on alcohol-induced liver steatosis were investigated in Wistar rats. Chronic alcoholic fatty liver was induced by administration of 52% alcohol to male Wistar rats at the dose of 1% body weight for 7 weeks. Then animals were simultaneously treated with 50% ethanol solutions of EEP or normal saline at the dose of 0.1% body weight for 4 further weeks. Serological analyses and liver histopathology studies were performed to investigate the development of steatosis. Microarray analysis was conducted to investigate the alterations of hepatic gene expression profiling. Our results showed that 4-week treatment of EEP helped to restore the levels of various blood indices, liver function enzymes and the histopathology of liver tissue to normal levels. Results from the microarray analysis revealed that the hepatic expressions of genes involved in lipogenesis were significantly down-regulated by EEP treatment, while the transcriptional expressions of functional genes participating in fatty acids oxidation were markedly increased. The ability of EEP to reduce the negative effects of alcohol on liver makes propolis a potential natural product for the alternative treatment of alcoholic fatty liver.
