ABSTRACT 2030 Agenda corresponds to the set of programs, actions and guidelines which constitute global challenges and guide the work of United Nations and member countries toward sustainable development. The objective of this article is to call attention to the ways in which interactions occur between health and health´s social determinants. In addition, to present the progress and challenges identified by universities, bodies of integration, international technical cooperation and the Latin American Parliament in the social, economic and environmental dimensions, with the aim of encouraging the 2030 Agenda through a continuous strategic convergence, and linked to a political will of the organizations. The method comes from the critical analysis of available information in bibliographic sources, documents, debate groups and interviews. The results were expressed in three groups that corresponded with each action area of the sustainable development´s objectives: social, economic and environmental. Recommendations were identified and comments on the strategic convergence were issued, which must promote the initiatives in the territory that is stressed as the main area of confluence of the population, the local government and the different sectoral actors and international cooperation. The recommendations were presented at the 11th International Congress on Higher Education, Cuba, February 2018; the Extraordinary Assembly of the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean, Mexico, April 2018; in the 3rd Regional Conference on Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, Argentina, June 2018; as well as to the Regional Directorate of the United Nations Program for Latin America and the Caribbean.

RESUMEN La Agenda 2030 corresponde al conjunto de programas, acciones y directrices que orientan el trabajo de Naciones Unidas y países miembros rumbo al desarrollo sostenible, los que constituyen retos globales. El objetivo de este artículo es llamar la atención sobre los modos en que se producen las interacciones entre la salud y los determinantes sociales con la salud. Además, presentar avances y desafíos señalados por universidades, organismo de integración, cooperación técnica internacional y Parlamento Latinoamericano en las dimensiones: social, económico y ambiental, con la finalidad de impulsar la Agenda 2030 a través de una convergencia estratégica sostenida y vinculada a una voluntad y decisión política de las organizaciones. El método, deviene del análisis crítico de información disponible en fuentes bibliográficas, documentos, grupos de discusión y entrevistas. Los resultados se expresaron en tres grupos que correspondieron con cada área de acción de los objetivos de desarrollo sostenible: social, económica y ambiental. Se identificaron recomendaciones y emitieron observaciones a la convergencia estratégica, la que debe impulsar las iniciativas en el territorio, que se subrayó como el principal espacio de confluencia de la población, el gobierno local y los diferentes actores sectoriales y de cooperación internacional. Las recomendaciones fueron presentadas en el XI Congreso Internacional de Educación Superior, Cuba, febrero 2018; Asamblea Extraordinaria de la Unión de Universidades de América Latina y el Caribe, México, abril 2018, en III Conferencia Regional de Educación Superior de América Latina y el Caribe, Argentina, junio 2018, así como a la Dirección Regional del Programa de Naciones Unidas para América Latina y el Caribe.

Numerosas investigaciones reportan una nueva forma de contaminación en odontología, referida a las líneas de agua de la unidad dental. Se ha descrito que la hidrodinamia del agua promueve la formación de biopelículas en estos aditamentos. Entre las bacterias frecuentemente recuperadas a partir de biopelículas en las líneas de agua de la unidad dental, Pseudomonas aeruginosa está presente en 75-100% de los casos, siendo importante fuente de infección para individuos inmunosuprimidos. La Clínica Integral del Adulto de la Facultad de Odontología, Universidad de Los Andes, Mérida-Venezuela, cuenta con unidades odontológicas surtidas con agua proveniente del suministro externo y unidades con depósitos de agua anexos, sitios que constituyen un reservorio ideal para la formación de biopelículas que alojen especies de Pseudomonas. El presente estudio tuvo como propósito aislar especies de Pseudomonas a partir de 25 muestras de agua provenientes de las líneas de agua y suministros externos de unidades odontológicas en la Clínica Integral del Adulto, para lo cual se desarrolló una investigación descriptiva no experimental de corte transversal y cuantitativa. Las muestras fueron recolectadas y sometidas a estudios microbiológicos. Los resultados demostraron la presencia de P. aeruginosa y P. fluorescens, entre otros microorganismos patógenos al ser humano, en el agua proveniente de la jeringa triple, la turbina y el suministro externo, situación que refleja un incremento del riesgo de contaminación cruzada por deficiencia en los estándares del agua a ser utilizada para fines odontológicos

Several studies have reported a new way for infection in dentistry referred to dental unit waterlines. It has been described that water’s hydrodynamics promotes the biofilm formation in those devices. Among other bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the most common pathogens isolated from dental unit waterlines (75-100%) which can cause infection to humans with immune deficiencies. The dental units, at the service of integral adult attention, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Los Andes, Mérida-Venezuela, can have either external potable tap water supply or container devices. In both cases, the attachment of Pseudomonas species to biofilm could be considered for the inner surfaces of the waterlines. The aim of this study was to isolate Pseudomonas species from the dental unit waterlines and from the incoming potable tap water supply. Through a descriptive, non experimental, quantitative, cross-sectional study, 25 samples of water leaving from dental units and incoming from potable water supply were evaluated using microbiological analysis. The presence of P. aeruginosa and P. fluorescens, among other pathogens to human, was demonstrated in the water from 3-in-1 syringe, turbine and external water supply. These results indicate a high risk of cross-infection due to deficiencies in sanitary requirements for potable water used in dental procedures
