ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to identify differentially expressed genes (DEG) between females and males in early bovine embryos. Superovulated cattle (n = 4) in the age span of 16–18 months were artificially inseminated with semen from the same bull that has been proven to be fertile. Blastocysts were collected by routine non-surgical uterine flushing on day 7 after insemination. This study determines the sex of embryos using a micro-injection pipette to collect a few blastomeres through the Zona pellucida. The remaining blastomeres were used for single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis on the Illumina platform, followed by differential expression analysis, Gene Ontology (GO) function analysis, and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis. The criteria for identifying DEG will be set at |log2(Fold change)| ≥ 1 and P<0.05. A total of 8004 DEG were detected in female (Denoted as BLX, n = 3) and male (Denoted as BLY, n = 3) blastocysts. Transcripts highly expressed in the female embryos were related to catalytic activity, nucleotide binding, and catabolic process, while transcripts highly expressed in the male embryos were linked to oxidative phosphorylation, mitochondrion, and the ribosome. Nine genes that may be involved in blastocyst growth and development were screened, suggesting that their differential expression may be responsible for the differences in the development of male and female embryos. This study provides important information on potential genes and pathways associated with differences in early female and male embryonic development.

Abstract The AMC-HN-8 cell line and the primary human laryngeal epithelial cell lines were utilized in this work to explore the molecular mechanism of miR-548-3p regulating the gene DAG1 to induce the occurrence and malignant transformation of laryngeal carcinoma. Non-coding RNA miR-548- 3p overexpression plasmid, interference plasmid and blank plasmid were constructed, and the plasmids were transfected into AMC-HN-8 cells, respectively. Meanwhile, a non-transfected plasmid group and a human laryngeal epithelial primary cell group were set up. Five groups of cells were named as NC (Normal control), Model, Ov-miR-548-3p, Sh-miR-548-3p and Blank-plasmid group. The luciferase reporter experiment was used to analyze the regulation characteristics of hsa-miR-548-3p on dystrophin-associated glycoprotein 1 (DAG1). Immunofluorescence was used to analyze the relative expression characteristics of the protein DAG1. The cell cloning experiment was used to analyze the proliferation characteristics of AMC-HN-8. The scratch healing test was used to analyze the migration ability of AMC-HN-8. The transwell test was used to analyze the invasion ability of AMC-HN-8. The RT-PCR was used to analyze the expression level of miR-548-3p. Western blot experiments were used to analyze the expression of protein DAG1, laminin α2 (LAMA2) and utrophin (UTRN). The luciferase report experiment and immunofluorescence test found that the expression of DAG1 and miR-548-3p are positively correlated. Cell cloning, scratching and migration experiments identified that the activity of laryngeal cancer cells was positively correlated with the expression of DAG1. The results of Western blot analysis further strengthened the above conclusions. Through carrying out research on the cellular levels, our work has demonstrated that miR-548-3p regulated the content of protein DAG1, and then further induced malignant transformation of laryngeal carcinoma.

Resumen En este trabajo se utilizaron la línea celular AMC-HN-8 y la línea celular epitelial laríngea humana primaria, para explorar el mecanismo molecular regulador del miR-548-3p sobre el gen DAG1 para inducir la aparición y la transformación maligna del carcinoma laríngeo. Se construyeron el plásmido de sobreexpresión de miR-548-3p de ARN no codificante, el plásmido de interferencia y el plásmido en blanco, y los plásmidos se transfectaron en células AMCHN-8 respectivamente. Mientras tanto, se establecieron un grupo de plásmidos no transfectados y un grupo de células primarias epiteliales laríngeas humanas. Se nombraron cinco grupos de células como NC (control normal), modelo, OvmiR-548-3p, Sh-miR-548-3p y grupo de plásmido en blanco. El experimento indicador de luciferasa se utilizó para analizar las características de regulación de hsa-miR-548-3p en la glicoproteína 1 asociada a distrofina (DAG1). Se utilizó inmunofluorescencia para analizar las características de expresión relativa de la proteína DAG1. El experimento de clonación celular se utilizó para analizar las características de proliferación de AMC-HN-8. Se utilizó la prueba de cicatrización por rascado para analizar la capacidad de migración de AMC-HN-8. La prueba de transwell se utilizó para analizar la capacidad de invasión de AMCHN-8. Se utilizó RT-PCR para analizar el nivel de expresión de miR-548-3p. Se usó un experimento de transferencia Western (Western blot) para analizar las expresiones de la proteína DAG1, laminina α2 (LAMA2) y utrofina (UTRN). El experimento de reporte de luciferasa y la prueba de inmunofluorescencia encontraron que la expresión de DAG1 y miR-548-3p están positivamente correlacionadas. Los experimentos de clonación celular, rascado y migración, identificaron que la actividad de las células cancerosas de laringe se correlacionó positivamente con la expresión de DAG1. Los resultados del análisis de transferencia Western fortalecieron aún más las conclusiones anteriores. A través de la investigación a nivel celular, nuestro proyecto ha demostrado que miR-548-3p regula el contenido de la proteína DAG1 y luego induce la transformación maligna del carcinoma de laringe.

Abstract Objective: To investigate the effects of Erector Spinae Plane Block (ESPB) and Retrolaminar Block (RLB) on intraand postoperative analgesia in patients with Multiple Rib Fractures (MRFs). Methods: A total of 80 MRFs patients were randomly divided into the ESPB (Group E) and RLB (Group R) groups. After general anesthesia, ESPB and RLB were performed under ultrasound guidance, respectively, together with 20 mL of 0.5% ropivacaine and Patient-Controlled Intravenous Analgesia (PCIA). Results: Thirty-four cases in Group E and 33,cases in Group R showed unclear paravertebral spaces. The intraoperative dosage of remifentanil (mean ± SD) (392.8 ± 118.7 vs. 501.7 ± 190.0 μg) and postoperative morphine PCIA dosage, (7.35 ± 1.55 vs. 14.73 ± 2.18 mg) in Group R were significantly less than those in Group E; the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores in Group R at 2 (2.7 ± 1.2 vs. 3.4 ± 1.4), 4 (2.2 ± 1.1 vs. 2.8 ± 0.9), 12 (2.5 ± 0.9 vs. 3.0 ± 0.8), and 24 hours (2.6 ± 1.0 vs. 3.1 ± 0.9) after surgery were significantly lower than those in Group E. Finally, the normal respiratory diaphragm activity (2.17 ± 0.22 vs. 2.05 ± 0.19), pH (median [IQR] (7.38 [7.31-7.45] vs. 7.36 [7.30-7.42]), and partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) (44 [35-49] vs. 42.5 [30-46]) after the operation in Group R were significantly better than those in Group E (p < 0.05). Conclusions: RLB was a more effective analgesic method than ESPB in the treatment of MRF.

Abstract Background: The internal NAD(P)H dehydrogenase (NDA) gene family was a member of the NAD(P)H dehydrogenase (ND) gene family, mainly involved in the non-phosphorylated respiratory pathways in mitochondria and played crucial roles in response to abiotic stress. Methods: The whole genome identification, structure analysis and expression pattern of NDA gene family were conducted to analyze the NDA gene family. Results: There were 51, 52, 26, and 24 NDA genes identified in G. hirsutum, G. barbadense, G. arboreum and G. raimondii, respectively. According to the structural characteristics of genes and traits of phylogenetic tree, we divided the NDA gene family into 8 clades. Gene structure analysis showed that the NDA gene family was relatively conservative. The four Gossypium species had good collinearity, and segmental duplication played an important role in the evolution of the NDA gene family. Analysis of cis-elements showed that most GhNDA genes contained cis-elements related to light response and plant hormones (ABA, MeJA and GA). The analysis of the expression patterns of GhNDA genes under different alkaline stress showed that GhNDA genes were actively involved in the response to alkaline stress, possibly through different molecular mechanisms. By analyzing the existing RNA-Seq data after alkaline stress, it was found that an NDA family gene GhNDA32 was expressed, and then theGhNDA32 was silenced by virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS). By observing the phenotype, we found that the wilting degree of silenced plants was much higher than that of the control plant after alkaline treatment, suggesting that GhNDA32 gene was involved in the response to alkaline stress. Conclusions: In this study, GhNDAs participated in response to alkaline stress, especially NaHCO3 stress. It was of great significance for the future research on the molecular mechanism of NDA gene family in responding to abiotic stresses.

SUMMARY: A comparative study of the morphology of suboccipital cavernous sinus (SCS) using MRI and cast specimens was performed. The present retrospective study analysed the craniocervical magnetic resonance venography (MRV) imaging data of 61 patients. Three-dimensional reconstruction was performed using Mimics 19.0. The SCS left-right diameter(d1), distance from the midline (d2), supero-inferior diameter(d3), anteroposterior diameter (d4), distance from posterior diameter to skin (d5), and diameter of the SCS at different parts (d6-d8) were measured. Comparison between MRV images and cast specimens, the SCS, marginal sinus, anterior condylar vein, and vertebral artery venous plexus were symmetrical and could be bilaterally displayed, whereas the presence of extra condylar vein and posterior condylar vein exhibited different types. The adjacency between the SCS and its communicating vessels and changes in its communicating vessels corresponded well with the MRV images and cast specimens. Many types of the presence of left and right lateral condylar and posterior condylar veins were found in the cast specimens, which could be divided into the bilateral presence of posterior condylar and lateral condylar veins, unilateral presence of posterior condylar veins, and unilateral presence of lateral condylar vein. A total of 61 cases analysed using MRV images revealed the bilateral presence of posterior condylar and lateral condylar veins (77.1 %), the unilateral presence of posterior condylar vein (18.0 %), and the unilateral presence of lateral condylar vein (9.8 %), of which the bilateral presence of posterior condylar and lateral condylar veins accounted for the largest proportion. MRV images and cast specimens of the SCS showed its normal morphological structure and adjacency, thus providing accurate and complete Three-dimensional imaging anatomical data of the SCS and its communicating vascular structures. This study enriches the Chinese SCS imaging anatomy data and may be valuable in clinical practice.

RESUMEN: Se realizó un estudio comparativo de la morfología del seno cavernoso suboccipital (SCS) mediante resonancia magnética y muestras de yeso. El presente estudio retrospectivo analizó los datos de imágenes de venografía por resonancia magnética (RNM) craneocervical de 61 pacientes. La reconstrucción tridimensional se realizó con Mimics 19.0. Se midió: el diámetro izquierdo-derecho del SCS (d1), la distancia desde la línea mediana (d2), el diámetro superoinferior (d3), el diámetro anteroposterior (d4), la distancia desde el diámetro posterior hasta la piel (d5) y el diámetro del SCS en diferentes partes (d6-d8). En la comparación entre las imágenes RNM y las muestras de yeso, el SCS, el seno marginal, la vena condilar anterior y el plexo venoso de la arteria vertebral eran simétricos y se observaron bilateralmente, mientras que la presencia de la vena extracondilar y la vena condilar posterior presentaba tipos diferentes. La proximidad del SCS y sus vasos comunicantes y los cambios en sus vasos comunicantes se correspondieron bien con las imágenes de RNM y los especímenes moldeados. Como avaliar a tensão nervosa dos vasos cardiovasculares e cerebrovasculares por meio de esportes é um assunto quente. Objetivo o artigo discute a influência da participação regular em esportes sobre a função cardiovascular das pessoas e indicadores relacionados ao sangue. Métodos Selecionamos 30 idosos saudáveis que participam regularmente de esportes, registramos suas alterações no ECG, pressão arterial, frequência cardíaca e outros indicadores relacionados à função cardiovascular e analisamos a função sanguínea dos idosos. Detecção de contagem de células sanguíneas (RBC), volume de glóbulos vermelhos (MCV) e hemoglobina (Hb), creatinina sérica (Cr), glicose no sangue (BGS), triglicerídeos (TG), colesterol (TC), lipoproteína de baixa densidade (LDL ) e a lipoproteína de alta densidade (HDL) é medida. Resultados Idosos que persistem por muito tempo nos exercícios têm melhores indicadores do que aqueles que não praticam. Conclusão O exercício aeróbio adequado pode reduzir a rigidez dos vasos sanguíneos em idosos. O exercício pode ajudar os idosos a aumentar a variabilidade da frequência cardíaca e melhorar os indicadores sanguíneos da função nervosa autonômica do coração e a massa corporal. ABSTRACT Introduction Regular physical activity helps improve cardiovascular and cerebrovascular skills. How to evaluate the nervous tension of the cardiovascular and cerebrovascular vessels through sports is a hot topic. Objective The paper discusses the influence of regular participation in sports on people’s cardiovascular function and blood-related indicators. Methods We select 30 healthy older adults who regularly participate in sports, record their ECG changes, blood pressure, heart rate and other related cardiovascular function indicators, and analyze the blood function of the elderly. Detection of blood cell count (RBC), red blood cell volume (MCV) and hemoglobin (Hb), serum creatinine (Cr), blood glucose (BGS), triglycerides (TG), cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and high-Density lipoprotein (HDL) is measured. Results Older adults who persist in exercise for a long time have better indicators than those who do not exercise. Conclusions Appropriate aerobic exercise can reduce the stiffness of blood vessels in the elderly. Exercise can help the elderly increase heart rate variability and improve the heart’s autonomic nerve function’s blood indicators, and body mass. Abstract To analyze value of PDCA circulation mode combined with continuing nursing guided by WeChat on improving the nursing quality of patients with gynecological inflammatory diseases during out-of-hospital treatment. 320 patients with gynecological inflammation were equally divided into control group (routine guidance during out-of-hospital treatment) and observation group (the control group implemented PDCA circulation mode combined with WeChat guidance of continuing care services). Nursing quality score and total nursing efficiency were compared. The patients’ average age, marital status, menopause and disease types showed no difference between two groups. After 3 months of nursing intervention, the scores of nursing quality and total effective rate of nursing in the observation group were better than those in the control group. The improvement degree of mastery rate of gynecological health knowledge and the total nursing satisfaction in the observation group were better than those in the control group. During out-of-hospital treatment of patients with gynecological inflammatory diseases, the implementation of PDCA circulation mode combined with the continuous nursing intervention guided by WeChat is conducive on improving the quality of nursing, improving the grasp of gynecological health knowledge, thus increasing the satisfaction of patients with nursing services, with a high value of promotion and application.

Abstract Zinc is one of the most important trace elements and deficiency can lead to significant clinical complications. Microbial transformation is one of the most important methods used to supplement organic zinc and there may be some naturally occurring microorganisms that have both higher zinc tolerances and transformation capabilities. In this study, microorganisms which displayed such characteristics were widely screened, and a strain designated T-A was found. Morphological and molecular determination demonstrated that T-A is closely related to Candida tropicalis with 87% of 18S rDNA homology, with a G+C content measured by RP-HPLC of 88.42%. Candida tropicalis sp. T-A strains were shown to grow and transform zinc best at pH5 in medium with a zinc ion concentration of 8000 μg/mL at 28 °C for 121 hours. Our results showed C. tropicalis sp. T-A’s zinc content was 19.153 mg/g dry weight, with a relative bioavailability in rats of 173% when compared with traditional zinc supplements. Our study suggests that C. tropicalis sp. T-A could be exploited for use as a potential zinc supplement.

RESUMEN Un deslizamiento de tierra catastrófico afectó el Monte Fugui, de la localidad Diexi, en el condado Mao de la provincia china de Sichuan, a las 05:38:58 hora local del 24 de junio de 2017. Este deslizamiento enterró la población de Xinmo, causó 83 muertos y significó enormes pérdidas de propiedades. La masa del deslizamiento se desprendió en lo alto de la montaña, se continuó cargando y se acumuló en la parte alta de la pendiente. Seguidamente, la masa del deslizamiento se transformó en una avalancha de detritos. Esta fue una cadena típica de un desastre ocasionado por una avalancha de detritos que comenzó por un deslizamiento en lo alto de la montañana. El volumen total, la diferencia de elevación y la distancia horizontal del deslizamiento fueron de 1637.6 χ 104 m3, 1200 m, and 2800 m. En este trabajo se identificó el mecanismo de formación del deslizamiento de Xinmo con base en un estudio de campo geológico y con el apoyo de satélites de teledetección. Los autores simularon numéricamente las características del desastre en la zona fuente, en la zona de la avalancha y en la zona de acumulación. Todo el proceso del deslizamiento de Xinmo fue estudiado comparativamente con el programa DAN-W, que analiza dinámicas de deslizamiento, y múltiples modelos reológicos. Los resultados del estudio indican que el modelo friccional simuló favorablemente las características del movimiento en varias fases del deslizamiento de Xinmo. Este movimiento duró por lo menos 120 segundos, y tuvo una velocidad máxima de movimiento de 74 m/s. Además, el modelo friccional y sus parámetros se pueden usar en estudios similares para investigar los efectos dinámicos de un movimiento de tierra en la parte alta de una montaña.

ABSTRACT A catastrophic landslide hit Mount Fugui, Diexi Township, Mao County, Sichuan Province, at 05:38:58 on June 24, 2017. This landslide buried Xinmo Village, caused 83 deaths, and resulted in enormous losses of life and property. The landslide mass cut out and slid from a high position, loaded continuously, and accumulated at the top of the slope body. Subsequently, the landslide mass was transformed into avalanche debris. This process was a typical chain disaster of avalanche debris triggered by a ridge-top landslide. The total volume, elevation difference, and horizontal distance of the landslide were 1637.6 χ 104 m3, 1200 m, and 2800 m. In this research, the disaster-formation mechanism of the Xinmo Landslide was identified based on a geological field survey and remote sensing satellites. The disaster characteristics of the landslide source zone, debris avalanche zone, and accumulation zone were then numerically simulated. The entire process of the Xinmo Landslide movement was comparatively studied using DAN-W, a dynamic landslide software program, and multiple rheological models. The research findings indicated that the frictional model favorably simulated the movement characteristics of various phases of the Xinmo Landslide. This landslide lasted approximately 120 s, and it had a maximum velocity of movement of 74 m/s. Therefore, the frictional model and its parameters can be used in similar studies to investigate the dynamic disaster effects of ridge-top rock landslides.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) has a high prevalence in patients with pancreatic cancer (PaC), but the prognostic value of DM in PaC remains controversial. Alterations of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) contribute to multidrug resistance and intestinal metabolism in a variety of cancer types, which may be implicated in DM development. This study aimed to explore the potential prognostic value of P-gp and CYP3A4 in PaC patients in the context of DM through long-term follow-up. We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients with PaC admitted at The First People's Hospital of Changzhou, Jiangsu, China, from January 2011 to November 2019 and identified two cohorts of adult patients with PaC, including 24 with DM and 24 without DM (non-DM). The baseline clinical characteristics and outcomes were compared. Immunohistochemistry showed that protein expression of P-gp, but not CYP3A, in duodenum tissues was significantly upregulated in PaC patients with DM compared with those without DM. Kaplan-Meier analysis and log-rank test showed that the survival of patients with PaC and DM/high expression of P-gp was not significantly reduced compared with that of patients without DM/low expression of P-gp. These findings suggested that P-gp expression levels were different in the DM and non-DM groups of patients with PaC, but DM and duodenal P-gp levels were not associated with the long-term survival of patients with PaC. It appears that the presence of DM or P-gp expression levels may not serve as effective prognostic markers for PaC.

Abstract As the main signal for the maternal recognition in ruminants, interferon-tau (IFNT) stimulates expression of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) in uterus and many extrauterine tissues. However, it is unclear that early pregnancy induces expression of signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (STAT1), myxovirusresistance 1 (Mx1), interferon-gamma-inducible protein 10 (IP-10) and ubiquitin activating enzyme E1-like protein (UBE1L) in maternal thymus. In this study, ovine thymuses were sampled on day 16 of the estrous cycle and on days 13, 16 and 25 of gestation, and the expression of STAT1, Mx1, IP-10 and UBE1L was detected by real-time quantitative PCR, Western blot and immunohistochemistry. The results revealed that the expression of STAT1 and IP-10 reached peaks on day 16 of pregnancy, and expression of Mx1 was enhanced on day 25 of pregnancy, and STAT1 protein was located in the epithelial reticular cells, capillaries and thymic corpuscles. However, expression of UBE1L was declined during early pregnancy. In conclusion, early pregnancy influences expression of STAT1, Mx1, IP-10 and UBE1L in maternal thymus, which may participate in regulation of maternal immune tolerance during early pregnancy in sheep.

Abstract Background Mental health disorders are common in China. There is a lack of knowledge and resources of mental health in China. Objectives To assess the levels of psychiatric resources and services in general hospitals in China. Methods Data regarding psychiatric departments, wards and staff were collected from 57 general hospitals in four provinces of China (Hubei, Zhejiang, Heilongjiang and Yunnan) between April 2014 and June 2014. Questionnaires were distributed to 1,200 non-psychiatric clinicians. Results Among the 57 hospitals, 50 provided mental health services, 36 had mental health wards, and seven had neither mental health clinics nor wards. The median number of mental health clinicians was six per hospital. The median number of specialized nurses was 42 per hospital. A total of 1,152 non-psychiatric clinicians with a career duration of 9.4 ± 8.9 years returned completed questionnaires. Only 6.9% reported a good understanding of the manifestation of anxiety and depressive disorders, 4.5% reported a good understanding of the diagnostic criteria, and 3.8% reported a good understanding of the treatment protocols. Discussion There is inadequate awareness of anxiety and depressive disorders among non-psychiatric clinicians in general hospitals in China. This awareness/understanding increased with increasing hospital level.

Resumo Introdução: A rinite alérgica é uma doença inflamatória crônica que afeta um a cada seis indivíduos. A rinite alérgica perene é responsável por 40% dos casos de rinite alérgica. A ciclesonida é um dos corticosteroides intranasais mais novos para o tratamento dessa condição clínica. Objetivo: Avaliar a eficácia e segurança da ciclesonida no tratamento da rinite alérgica perene. Método: Uma busca foi feita nos bancos de dados Pubmed, Scientific Citation Index, Embase e Clinical Trial Registries por ensaios clínicos randomizados e Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials por estudos controlados randomizados que comparassem ciclesonida com placebo no tratamento da rinite alérgica perene. Resultados: Oito estudos foram incluídos. Em comparação com os grupos placebo, os grupos ciclesonida mostraram diminuição significante no escore do Reflective Total Nasal Symptom Score (DM = −0,56; IC 95%: −0,72 a −0,39, p < 0,00001) com heterogeneidade (p = 0,19, I2 = 24%), do Instantaneous Total Nasal Symptom Score (DM = −0,57; IC95%: −0,75 a −0,39, p < 0,00001) com heterogeneidade (p = 0,34, I2 = 11%). Um efeito significante no escore do Reflective Nasal Symptom Score Subtotal (DM = −0,15; IC 95%: −0,18 a −0,13, p < 0,00001) com heterogeneidade (p = 0,12, I2 = 24%) também foi demonstrado. O escore do Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire score (RQLQs) (DM = −0,27; IC 95%: −0,39 a −0,15, p < 0,00001) com heterogeneidade (p = 0,58, I2 = 0%) também foi significantemente reduzido no tratamento com ciclesonida. Além disso, a diferença em relação aos eventos adversos emergentes do tratamento entre os dois grupos não foi significante. Conclusão: A ciclesonida pode melhorar a rinite alérgica perene sem aumentar os eventos adversos. Esse fármaco pode ser outra opção valiosa para a rinite alérgica perene no futuro.

Abstract Introduction: Allergic rhinitis is a chronic inflammatory disease which affects 1 out of 6 individuals. Perennial allergic rhinitis accounts for 40% of AR cases. Ciclesonide is one of the relatively new intranasal steroid for allergic rhinitis. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ciclesonide in the treatment of perennial allergic rhinitis. Methods: We searched Pubmed, Scientific Citation Index, Embase, Clinical Trial Registries for randomized controlled trials and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials to find out the randomized controlled Trial comparing ciclesonide with placebo for PAR. Results: Eight studies were included. In comparison with placebo groups, ciclesonide groups significantly decreased Reflective Total Nasal Symptom Score (MD = −0.56; 95% CI −0.72 to 0.39, p < 0.00001) with heterogeneity (p = 0.19, I2 = 24%), Instantaneous Total Nasal Symptom Score (MD = −0.57; 95% CI −0.75 to −0.39, p < 0.00001) with heterogeneity (p = 0.34, I2 = 11%). A significant effect for Reflective Nasal Symptom Score Subtotal (MD = −0.15; 95% CI −0.18 to −0.13, p < 0.00001) with heterogeneity (p = 0.12, I2 = 24%) was also demonstrated. Rhinoconjunctivitis quality of life questionnaire score (RQLQs) (MD = −0.27; 95% CI −0.39 to −0.15, p < 0.00001) with heterogeneity (p = 0.58, I 2 = 0%) in the treatment of ciclesonide was also significantly reduced. In addition, the difference in Treatment-Emergent Adverse Events between the two groups was not significant. Conclusion: Ciclesonide can improve perennial allergic rhinitis without increasing adverse events. Ciclesonide may be another valuable choice for perennial allergic rhinitis in the future.

OBJECTIVES: We aimed to explore the effects of diet on the inflammatory response in middle-aged and elderly people with hypertension. METHODS: Thirty overweight or obese patients with stage one hypertension (age range, 45-75 years) were allocated to either the intervention or control group (n=15 per group; age- and sex-matched). Patients in the intervention group consumed a food powder supplement (100 g) instead of a regular meal. The control group maintained their normal dietary habits. This study lasted for six weeks. Blood pressure, inflammatory marker levels, and energy intake were measured before and after the study. RESULTS: After 6 weeks, the diet composition of the intervention group changed significantly (p<0.05). The intake of proteins, dietary fibre, monounsaturated fat, and polyunsaturated fat increased significantly (p<0.05), while the total energy intake trended towards an increase (p>0.05). In the control group, the total energy intake decreased significantly (p<0.05). The levels of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB), soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) and high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) decreased, and adiponectin increased significantly in the intervention group (p<0.05); however, no significant changes were observed in the inflammatory marker levels of the control group. In the intervention group, systolic blood pressure decreased significantly (p<0.05), and diastolic blood pressure also exhibited a decreasing trend. No significant change in blood pressure was observed in the control group. CONCLUSION: The consumption of a food powder supplement can improve diet composition, decrease blood pressure and reduce inflammation in middle-aged and elderly overweight or obese hypertensive patients. The food powder supplement may also have an anti-atherosclerotic effect in hypertensive patients.

In this paper, Co3O4-ZnO nanomaterials with Co3O4 doping mass fractions of 0%, 2.13%, 4.13%, and 6.13% were prepared by sol-gel method. In order to explain and confirm the influence of the incorporation of Co3O4 on the surface morphology and gas sensitivity of ZnO at a relatively low gas concentration, additional studies such as XRD, XPS, SEM, EDS and UV-vis spectroscopy were performed. And its photoelectric response to 100 ppm acetone at near room temperature and visible light irradiation was studied. Due to the formation of P-N heterojunctions, the Co3O4-ZnO heterostructural nanoparticles has a highe response to low concentrations of acetone gas than undoped ZnO nanoparticles even at operating temperatures as low as 30ºC. The addition of Co3O4 improves the sensitivity and selectivity of ZnO thick films. The sensitivity of the 4.13wt% Co3O4-ZnO sample to 100 ppm acetone at a working temperature of 30ºC was 24.36. The light excitation effect was significantly enhanced. Under visible light irradiation, the sensitivity can reach 37.21. In addition, the Co3O4-ZnO P-N heterojunction model was combined with visible light excitation theory to further explore the mechanism of gas sensing reaction.
