Este trabalho tem como objetivo a incorporação da mica à matriz do elastômero termoplástico de poliuretano (TPU) tipo poliéter, para o desenvolvimento de novos materiais nos quais as propriedades inerentes da mica possam ser combinadas às do TPU. Este elastômero termoplástico tem alto custo, ao contrário da mica, que é de baixo custo e abundante no Brasil. Os diferentes compósitos, com teores de mica variando de 0 a 20 phr (por cem partes de resina), foram preparados em misturador interno, acoplado a um reômetro de torque Haake. Estes compósitos foram analisados termicamente por análise termogravimétrica (TGA) e análise dinâmico-mecânica (DMA). Foi observado que a incorporação de mica ao TPU altera as propriedades dinâmico-mecânicas bem como a estabilidade térmica deste polímero em diferentes atmosferas. A adição de mica desloca o início da degradação para temperaturas mais baixas nas duas atmosferas (inerte e oxidante) e a temperatura de transição vítrea tem ligeira diminuição com o aumento do teor de mica. Os resultados decorrem principalmente das interações entre a mica e o segmento rígido do TPU, durante o processamento em misturador interno.

This work is aimed at incorporating mica to the matrix of a polyether type thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer (TPU), for the development of new materials in which the inherent properties of mica could be combined to those of TPU. This thermoplastic elastomer has high cost, unlike mica, which is inexpensive and abundant in Brazil. The different composites, with the mica contents varying from 0-20 phr (per hundred resin) were prepared in an internal mixer, coupled to a Haake torque rheometer. These composites had their thermal properties analyzed by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). The incorporation of mica caused changes in the thermal stability of TPU in different atmospheres and in its dynamic mechanical properties. The addition of mica shifted the onset of degradation to lower temperatures in the two atmospheres (inert and oxidizing), while the glass transition temperature decreased slightly with increasing mica content. The results stem mainly from the interactions between mica and TPU hard segments during processing in the internal mixer.

Os processos de obtenção de artefatos de borracha natural (NR) a partir do látex e a composição dos sistemas de vulcanização são fundamentais na determinação da aplicabilidade e qualidade destes artefatos. Varias técnicas podem ser usadas para a verificação da eficiência do processamento e dos sistemas de vulcanização. O objetivo deste trabalho foi estudar a eficiência da vulcanização de látex de NR por dois sistemas de vulcanização SV1 (sistema convencional) e SV2 (sistema eficiente) em diferentes concentrações através de medidas calorimétricas. A Calorimetria Diferencial de Varredura (DSC) mostrou ser uma técnica eficaz na obtenção de parâmetros de vulcanização como velocidade, tempo de pré-vulcanização, bem como do excesso de ligações cruzadas. Os resultados foram corroborados pelos ensaios de resistência à tração e análise óptica. De forma geral, o sistema de vulcanização convencional SV1, em comparação ao sistema eficiente SV2 mostrou-se mais adequado para uso, nas condições experimentais deste trabalho, por fornecer maior velocidade de vulcanização, maior segurança de processo e melhor desempenho mecânico.

The manufacture of natural rubber goods from the latex has significant commercial interest. The processes to obtain these artifacts, the type and amounts of the vulcanization systems used are of utmost importance in determining their quality and suitability. A number of techniques can be used to verify the efficiency of both the processing and the vulcanization systems. The objective of this work was the study of the efficiency of NR latex vulcanization carried out by two vulcanization systems, namely SV1 (conventional system) and SV2 (efficient system) in different concentrations, by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The DSC has been found to be a very efficient technique for the acquisition of data which would allow the determination of the vulcanization rate, pre-vulcanization time and the excess of crosslinks in elastomers latexes compositions. The results have been corroborated by stress strength tests and optical analysis. In general, the conventional system, SV1, as compared with the efficient SV2, gave the best results, under the experimental conditions, since it provided a higher vulcanization rate, better process safety and better mechanical behavior.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi o desenvolvimento de compósitos claros com propriedades de interesse tecnológico utilizando elastômeros com diferentes polaridades. Para que este objetivo fosse atingido, celulose II em pó foi usada como carga, em borracha natural (NR) ou policloropreno (CR). A celulose II foi obtida por coagulação da solução de xantato de celulose em meio ácido, sob agitação constante e à temperatura ambiente, constituindo uma nova forma de obtenção deste tipo de carga. Compósitos com 10 phr de celulose II com NR e CR, respectivamente, foram desenvolvidos tendo como variável o tamanho de partícula da carga. As propriedades mecânicas e os aspectos microscópicos dos diferentes compósitos foram avaliados e comparados com aqueles das formulações sem carga. Os resultados permitiram identificar o compósito como o de melhor resultado, influenciado pela polaridade da matriz elastomérica e pelo tamanho de partícula da carga, conseqüência das condições de moagem usadas.

The aim of this work was to develop light composites with properties of technological interest by using elastomers of different polarities. This was achieved by employing cellulose II, in the powder form, as filler in natural rubber (NR) and chloroprene (CR). Cellulose II was obtained by coagulation of cellulose xanthate solution, in acid medium, under stirring and at room temperature, which represents, to our knowledge, a new way of obtaining this type of filler. Composites with 10phr of cellulose II and NR or CR were prepared having the particle size as variable. The mechanical properties and the microscopic aspect of the different composites were evaluated and compared with compounds without filler. The results indicated best results for the CR composite, influenced by the polarity of the elastomeric matrix and by the particle size, as a consequence of the milling conditions of the filler used.

Neste trabalho foi estudada a influência da adição de mica em composições vulcanizáveis de borracha natural quanto às propriedades mecânicas e dinâmico-mecânicas. As diversas composições também foram avaliadas quanto à densidade de ligações cruzadas. Todos os dados foram comparados aos da composição sem carga. Os resultados mostraram que a adição de teores crescentes de mica na borracha natural aumentou o módulo a 300%, a dureza, a densidade de ligações cruzadas e a deformação permanente à compressão (DPC) das composições, por outro lado diminuiu a resiliência e a resistência à abrasão. O melhor desempenho quanto à resistência ao rasgamento e à tensão na ruptura foi obtido com 30phr de mica. As propriedades dinâmico-mecânicas (DMTA) corroboraram as propriedades mecânicas obtidas.

In this work the influence of mica on the mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties of vulcanized natural rubber compositions was studied. The crosslinking density of the compositions was also determined. The data were compared to those of the unfilled composition. The results indicate an increase in modulus, hardness, crosslinking density and compression set as well as a decrease in resilience and abrasion resistance for the natural rubber compositions with increasing mica contents. The best performance for tear strength and stress at break was achieved with 30 phr of mica. The dynamic mechanical behavior of the compositions (DMTA) is in agreement with their mechanical properties.

Neste trabalho, composições não-vulcanizadas de borracha natural (NR) com celulose regenerada (Cel II) foram preparadas por co-coagulação de misturas de látex natural e xantato de celulose. Foi estudada a influência da carga celulósica nas propriedades reológicas e dinâmicas dessas composições, para teores entre 0 e 30phr. As propriedades reológicas avaliadas foram os torques, elástico (S') e viscoso (S"), a tan delta e a viscosidade dinâmica real (h'). Para estes ensaios foram feitas varreduras de freqüência e arco, à temperatura constante. A viscosidade e a relaxação Mooney também foram estudadas. Os testes dinâmicos foram realizados à freqüência constante, sendo a tangente de perda e o módulo elástico (E') os parâmetros considerados. Os resultados mostraram uma excelente dispersão da carga celulósica na matriz borrachosa, e sua grande influência nas propriedades viscoelásticas da borracha natural sem, no entanto, modificar o perfil do comportamento reológico desta borracha.

In this work, unvulcanized natural rubber (NR) and regenerated cellulose (Cel II) compositions were prepared by co-coagulation of natural rubber latex and cellulose xanthate mixtures. The cellulosic filler was added up to 30 phr content. The rheological properties evaluated were the elastic (S') and viscous (S") torques, tan delta, and the real dynamic viscosity (h'). These experiments were carried out at constant temperature with frequency and strain sweeps. Mooney viscosity and relaxation were also studied. The dynamic tests were taken at constant frequency, and the loss tangent and the elastic modulus (E') were considered. The results showed a good dispersion of the cellulosic filler in the rubber matrix and the large influence it imparted on rheological and dynamic properties of natural rubber without changing the rheological profile of this rubber.

As cargas são fundamentais em composições elastoméricas sendo classificadas, segundo desempenho mecânico, em reforçadoras ou não. O negro de fumo é a carga de reforço mais utilizada nessas composições, não só pelas excelentes propriedades que confere ao artefato, mas também pelo baixo preço e facilidade de processamento. As propriedades dinâmico-mecânicas de sistemas poliméricos são modificadas pela adição de cargas, o que acarreta mudanças nos módulos elástico (E') e viscoso (E"), bem como na razão entre eles, isto é, a tangente de perda (tan delta). Neste trabalho, são estudadas as propriedades mecânicas e dinâmico-mecânicas de composições de policloropreno (CR) com negro de fumo (NF). O teor de negro de fumo incorporado variou entre 0 e 45 phr. A composição contendo 40 phr de carga apresentou o melhor conjunto das propriedades estudadas.

Often used in elastomeric compositions, fillers can be classified, according to their mechanical performance, as reinforcing or non-reinforcing fillers. Carbon black is the most used reinforcing filler in rubber compositions, either because of the excellent properties it confers to the rubber article, or due to its low cost and easy processing. When added to polymer systems, fillers are known to cause a considerable change in both dynamic moduli, viscous (E") and elastic (E'), and also in the loss factor (tan delta), which is the ratio between those two parameters. In this work, the mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties of compositions of chloroprene rubber (CR) with carbon black (CB) were investigated. The filler content varied from 0 to 45 phr. The composition containing 40 phr of carbon black showed the best set of results.
