Abstract Primary vaginal malignant melanomas (PVMM) are rare tumors with an incidence of 0,46/1000000 women and less than 500 cases reported in literature. The genetic patterns seem to be different from cutaneous melanomas. These tumors usually appear in women aged 60 to 70 with vaginal bleeding, discharge or a mass. It is an aggressive tumor and diagnosis is often made in advanced stages which results in low survival-rates. We present a case of a 74-year old bedridden women, with a 4 cm primary vaginal malignant melanoma. The most challenging aspect of these tumors is that no standard treatment protocol is available.

Resumo Os melanomas malignos primários da vagina são tumores raros, com uma incidência de 0,46/1000000 de mulheres e menos de 500 casos descritos na literatura. O padrão genético parece diferente do observado nos melanomas cutâneos. Estes tumores surgem, habitualmente, em mulheres entre 60-70 anos com hemorragia, corrimento ou massa vaginal. São tumores agressivos e o diagnóstico é geralmente realizado em estadios avançados, resultando em baixas taxas de sobrevivência. Apresentamos um caso de uma mulher de 74 anos, acamada, com um melanoma maligno primário da vagina com 4 cm. O maior desafio nestes tumores é o facto de não existirem protocolos de tratamento estabelecidos.

Abstract Objective: To identify factors associated with C-peptide levels at the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). Material and Methods: Retrospective review of the clinical records of patients with newly diagnosed T1DM admitted to a Portuguese reference center between August 2010 and July 2019. Results: The study included 109 subjects, with a mean age at T1DM diagnosis of 8.6 years and 29.4% already showing puberty development. The mean body mass index (BMI) z-score was 0.09. Subjects presented a median fasting C-peptide level of 0.46 ng/mL and a median hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C) of 10.85%. Diabetic ketoacidosis was identified in 22% of patients. A positive correlation was found between fasting C-peptide levels and age at diagnosis (p<0.001) and between fasting C-peptide levels and BMI z-score (p=0.041). Higher C-peptide levels were found in overweight/obese (p=0.008) and pubertal (p<0.001) individuals. C-peptide levels were found to be correlated with serum bicarbonate (p=0.005) but not with venous pH, HbA1C, or previous symptom duration. No statistically significant differences were observed in fasting C-peptide levels according to gender, diabetes autoantibodies, T1DM family history, or seasonality. Conclusion: Older, pubertal, and overweight/obese children presented higher C-peptide levels. In the acute setting, serum bicarbonate was the biochemical parameter that best correlated with residual β-cell function.

Resumo Objetivos: Identificar fatores relacionados com os níveis de peptídeo C ao diagnóstico de diabetes mellitus tipo 1 (DM1). Material e Métodos: Revisão retrospetiva dos processos clínicos de doentes diagnosticados com DM1 entre agosto de 2010 e julho de 2019 num centro de referência português. Resultados: O estudo incluiu 109 participantes, com idade média de 8.6 anos e 29.4% púberes. O z-score médio do índice de massa corporal (IMC) foi 0.09. O nível de peptídeo C em jejum mediano foi 0.46 ng/mL e a hemoglobina A1C (HbA1C) mediana foi 10.85%. Vinte e dois por cento dos casos apresentaram-se com cetoacidose diabética. Foi observada uma correlação positiva significativa entre o nível de peptídeo C e a idade (p<0.001) e o nível de peptídeo C e o z-score do IMC (p=0.041). Foram detetados níveis mais elevados de peptídeo C em crianças com excesso de peso/obesidade (p=0.008) e púberes (p<0.001). Os níveis de peptídeo C correlacionaram-se positivamente com os níveis séricos de bicarbonato (p=0.005), mas não com o pH venoso, HbA1C ou duração dos sintomas anteriores. Não foram registadas diferenças estatisticamente significativas nos níveis de peptídeo C em jejum em função do sexo, autoanticorpos para a DM1, história familiar de DM1 e sazonalidade. Conclusão: Os doentes mais velhos, púberes e com excesso de peso/obesidade apresentaram níveis mais elevados de peptídeo C ao diagnóstico. Em contexto agudo, o bicarbonato sérico foi o parâmetro bioquímico que melhor se correlacionou com a função residual das células β.

Abstract The cosmetics industry searches for new products with sustainable, natural and non-toxic characteristics. Levan is a microbial exopolysaccharide composed of fructose units with β-2,6-glycoside bonds. Due to its biological properties, levan has a wide range of applications in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals industry. The effects of levan can be improved by its combination with biocompatible actives such as plant-derived compounds and vitamins resulting in a multifunctional cosmetic formulation. Thus, the aim of this study was to develop a new biocosmetic gel-anionic type containing 1 % of levan and plant-derived compounds, such as Aloe vera extract and avocado oil and vitamin E, using simplex lattice mixtures design. According to the statistical analyses, the concentrations to obtain a cosmetic with maximum antioxidant activity (76%), hydration capacity (98.37%) and spreadability (767.30 mm2), would be 10% (0.1 mL) of Aloe vera, and 90% (0.9 mL) of avocado oil. Cosmeceutical formulations showed good stability and did not show phase separation or visible changes being classified as normal. The development of innovative and sustainable cosmetic formulations, with natural, vegan and non-toxic molecules is of great importance for cosmetic industry.

ABSTRACT This study describes the laboratory investigation of two acute Chagas disease outbreaks that occurred in the riverside communities of Marimarituba and Cachoeira do Arua, in the Santarem municipality, Para State, located in the Northern region of Brazil, and occurred in March 2016 and August 2017, respectively. The generation of data regarding the diversity of Trypanosoma cruzi parasites circulating in the Amazon region is key for understanding the emergence and expansion of Chagas disease. This study aimed to identify T. cruzi Discrete Typing Units (DTUs) involved in two outbreaks of acute Chagas disease (ACD) directly from the patient’s biological sample. Nested and multiplex PCR targeting the 24Sα (rRNA) and mini-exon genes, respectively, were used to identify T. cruzi DTU in blood samples from patients diagnosed with ACD. The samples with positive cPCR were submitted for analysis for T. cruzi DTUs, which included 13 samples from the patients with ACD by oral transmission and two samples collected from two newborns of two women with ACD, from Marimarituba and Cachoeira do Arua. The samples were classified as T. cruzi TcIV, from Marimarituba’s outbreak, and T. cruzi TcI, from Cachoeira do Arua’s outbreak. The molecular identification of T. cruzi may increase understanding of the role of this parasite in Chagas disease’s emergence within the Amazon region, contributing to the improvement of the management of this important, but also neglected, disease.

ABSTRACT Resignifying the Action of Conducting in Ballroom Dance: a bibliographical review of academic productions – The article presents reflections arising from a study within the field of Dance Education based on the perspective of resignifying the traditional Ballroom Dance models that are practiced in our culture. A literature review of contemporary Brazilian scientific research on the subject was conducted to understand the possibilities and intersections between different studies on communication between the duos in Ballroom Dance. The results show the quantitative and qualitative progress of research on Ballroom Dance related to the actions of conducting and being conducted. However, they also point to the lack of studies related to dance education in this genre, which is considered to be an obstacle to reflecting on and updating the forms expressed in spaces where Ballroom Dance is taught and practiced.

RÉSUMÉ L'article présente des réflexions issues d'une enquête située dans le domaine de la Pédagogie de la Danse, développée dans la perspective de redefinir les modèles de danse de salon traditionnellement pratiqués dans notre culture. Une revue de littérature de la production scientifique brésilienne contemporaine sur le sujet est réalisée pour tenter de comprendre les possibilités et les intersections entre les différentes études sur la communication du duo en Danse de Salon. Les résultats montrent l'avancée quantitative et qualitative des études sur la Danse de Salon liées aux actions de conduire et de se laisser conduire, mais soulignent le manque d'études sur les pédagogies de ce genre de danse, ce qui est considéré comme un obstacle à la réflexion et à l'actualisation des formes diffusées dans les environnements d'enseignement et de pratique de la Danse de Salon.

RESUMO Ressignificando a Ação de Conduzir na Dança de Salão: uma revisão bibliográfica de produções acadêmicas – O artigo apresenta reflexões decorrentes de uma investigação situada no campo da Pedagogia da Dança, desenvolvida na perspectiva de ressignificação dos modelos de Dança de Salão tradicionalmente praticados na nossa cultura. Na busca pela compreensão das possibilidades e interseções entre diferentes pesquisas sobre a comunicação da dupla na Dança de Salão, realiza-se uma revisão bibliográfica da produção científica brasileira contemporânea sobre o tema. Os resultados evidenciam o avanço quantitativo e qualitativo das pesquisas sobre Dança de Salão relacionadas às ações de conduzir e deixar-se conduzir, mas apontam a carência de trabalhos relacionados às pedagogias desse gênero de dança, o que se considera um entrave à reflexão e atualização das formas difundidas nos ambientes de ensino e prática da Dança de Salão.

Resumo A intercambialidade das informações é um dos requisitos para a digitalização da informação. Nas obras públicas brasileiras, a digitalização passa pela integração do orçamento, estruturado a partir do Sistema Nacional de Pesquisa de Custos e Índices da Construção Civil (SINAPI), com o Building Information Model (BIM). A norma NBR 15965 - Sistema de Classificação da Informação da Construção - possui estrutura diferente do SINAPI, dificultando a interoperabilidade. O objetivo desta pesquisa é propor recomendações para essa integração. Para tanto, analisou-se o caso da composição 92722 e sua vinculação com os códigos da norma. Dos 45 códigos da NBR 15965, necessários para caracterização do serviço, 12 estão nas tabelas publicadas “0P”, “1F” e “5I”; 19 poderiam estar nas tabelas já publicadas “0M”, “0P”, “1S” e “5I” e 11 poderiam ser considerados nas futuras tabelas “2Q”, “2N”, “3R”, “3E” e “4A”. Como recomendações, sugere-se: associar propriedades (tempo, custo, consumos) aos coeficientes das composições do SINAPI e inserir insumos, propriedades de materiais e critérios condicionantes para a seleção de um serviço na norma. A principal contribuição é a identificação dos atributos faltantes no SINAPI e na NBR 15965, configurando uma primeira iniciativa para a integração entre ambos.

Abstract Data interchangeability is a requirement of information digitalization. The digitization of information in Brazilian public works involves cost structure integration between the National System of Investigation of Costs and Indices of Civil Construction (SINAPI)) with the Building Information Model (BIM). The standard NBR 15965 - Construction Information Classification System has a different structure than SINAPI: this characteristic hinders interoperability. The aim of this research study is to make recommendations for the integration between the two systems. For this purpose, cost composition 92722 and its links with NBR 15965 codes were analysed. From the forty-five codes in NBR 15965, necessary for the characterization of the service, twelve are on the published tables “0P”, “1F” and “5I”; nineteen already could be in the published tables “0M”, “0P”, “1S” and “5I” and eleven codes could be considered for future tables (“2Q”, “2N”, “3R”, “3E” and “4A”). The recommendations made by this study are as follows: to associate properties (time, cost, material consumption) to the cost composition coefficients and include materials, materials’ properties and the choice criteria for the selection of construction services. The main contribution of this paper is the identification of gaps in SINAPI’s attributes and in NBR 15965 standards, configuring the first initiative for their integration.

RESUMO - O feijão-caupi é um alimento muito importante para as populações das regiões Norte e Nordeste do Brasil, representando uma excelente fonte de proteínas e minerais. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o potencial de 100 genótipos de feijão-caupi para biofortificação de ferro, zinco e proteína, e qualidade de cozimento. Os teores de ferro e zinco foram analisados por espectrometria de fluorescência de raios X; o conteúdo de proteínas foi baseado na determinação de nitrogênio, pelo método de Kjeldahl; e a qualidade de cozimento foi avaliada com uso de panela de pressão elétrica e cozedor de Mattson. A superioridade dos genótipos para ferro, zinco, proteínas e qualidade de cozimento foi realizada utilizando-se o índice de qualidade nutricional e de cozimento. O teor de ferro variou de 3,58 a 6,06 mg 100g-1, com uma média geral de 4,66 mg 100g-1, enquanto o teor de zinco entre 2,35 e 4,57 mg 100g-1 e média de 3,31 mg 100g-1. O ter de proteínas apresentou amplitude de 20,82 a 26,92 g 100g-1 e média de 24,30 g 100g-1. A porcentagem de grãos cozidos variou de 20 a 98%, com média de 68,7%. Os grãos da linhagem MNC11-1023E-28 apresentam melhor perfil de qualidade nutricional e de cocção, apresentando potencial como um alimento para atender às demandas dos consumidores e reverter a deficiência de ferro, zinco e proteínas na população brasileira.

ABSTRACT - Cowpea is a very important food for the populations of the North and Northeast regions of Brazil, representing an excellent source of proteins and minerals. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the potential of 100 cowpea genotypes for biofortification of iron, zinc, and proteins, and cooking quality of the grain. The iron and zinc contents were analyzed by x-ray fluorescence spectrometry; protein content was based on nitrogen determination, using the Kjeldahl method; and cooking quality was assessed using an electric pressure cooker and Mattson cooker. The superiority of genotypes for iron, zinc, proteins, and cooking quality was carried out using the nutritional quality and cooking index. The iron content ranged from 3.58 to 6.06 mg 100g-1, with an overall average of 4.66 mg 100g-1, while the zinc content between 2.35 and 4.57 mg 100g-1 and average of 3.31 mg 100g-1. Protein range ranged from 20.82 to 26.92 g 100g-1 and an average of 24.30 g 100g-1. The percentage of cooked grains ranged from 20 to 98%, with an average of 68.7%. The line MNC11-1023E-28 has the best profile of nutritional and cooking quality, showing potential as a food to meet consumer demands and reverse iron and zinc deficiency in the Brazilian population.

Resumo O parabasalídeo Pentatrichomonas hominis é geralmente considerado um componente simbiótico da microbiota gastrointestinal em uma ampla variedade de hospedeiros vertebrados, incluindo os humanos. No entanto, um número limitado de estudos levantou a possibilidade de que possa atuar como patógeno de humanos, cães e suínos, e que algumas infecções humanas possam ter origem zoonótica. Dados da América do Norte revelaram uma associação entre P. hominis e o trato urogenital bovino, principalmente, em touros e raramente em vacas. A importância dessa observação está ligada a uma possível interferência no diagnóstico preciso do patógeno venéreo de importância econômica Tritrichomonas foetus. O presente estudo empregou métodos baseados em cultura em combinação com técnicas moleculares, para examinar as cavidades prepuciais de quatro touros, criados em pastagem aberta no sudeste do Brasil, quanto à presença de tricomonas. Protozoários móveis foram isolados de três dos touros e foram definitivamente identificados como P. hominis com base no sequenciamento de nucleotídeos de amplicons geradas pela reação em cadeia da polimerase (PCR), empregando a região RNA ribossômico (ITS1-5.8S rDNA-ITS2) do parasita como alvo. Os potenciais implicações desses achados para a saúde bovina e humana são discutidas.

Abstract The parabasalid Pentatrichomonas hominis is generally considered to represent a symbiotic component of the gastrointestinal microbiota in a wide variety of vertebrate hosts including humans. Nevertheless, a limited number of studies have raised the possibility that it may act as a pathogen of humans, dogs, and pigs and that some human infections may have a zoonotic origin. Data from North America revealed an association between P. hominis and the bovine urogenital tract, principally in bulls and rarely in cows. The importance of this observation is linked to possible interference in the accurate diagnosis of the economically important venereal pathogen Tritrichomonas foetus. The current study employed culture-based and molecular methods to examine the preputial cavities of four breeding bulls, raised in open pasture in southeastern Brazil, for the presence of trichomonads. Motile protozoa were isolated from three of the bulls and were definitively identified as P. hominis based on nucleotide sequencing of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplicons derived from the ribosomal RNA operon (ITS1-5.8S rDNA-ITS2) of the parasite. The potential implications of these findings for bovine and human health are discussed.

Abstract Schinus terebinthifolia Raddi green fruits essential oil (EO) was evaluated regarding its phytochemical profile, antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities, and toxicity. Gas chromatography with mass spectrometry was applied to identify its constituents, thereafter the minimum inhibitory concentration, minimum bactericidal and fungicidal concentrations, and its antibiofilm activity were evaluated. The EO cytotoxicity was assessed in tumor and non-tumor human cells, and in vivo toxicity was evaluated in a Galleria mellonella model. The major constituents of S. terebinthifolia EO were alpha-phellandrene and beta-phellandrene. The EO had a weak activity against all strains of Candida albicans (MIC 1000μg/mL) and had no activity against non-albicans strains, bacteria, and C. albicans biofilm. Cytostatic activity against all tumor cell lines was shown. Additionally, cell viability remained at EO concentrations up to 62.5 μg/mL. At 16 mg/mL, 50% hemolysis was observed, and it had low toxicity in vivo. Overall, the S. terebinthifolia EO was characterized by low antimicrobial and antibiofilm activities, with no evidence of toxicity to human tumor and non-tumor cells.

BACKGROUND Trypanosoma cruzi shows an exuberant genetic diversity. Currently, seven phylogenetic lineages, called discrete typing units (DTUs), are recognised: TcI-TcVI and Tcbat. Despite advances in studies on T. cruzi and its populations, there is no consensus regarding its heterogeneity. OBJECTIVES This study aimed to perform molecular characterisation of T. cruzi strains, isolated in the state of São Paulo, to identify the DTUs involved and evaluate their genetic diversity. METHODS T. cruzi strains were isolated from biological samples of chronic chagasic patients, marsupials and triatomines through culture techniques and subjected to molecular characterisation using the fluorescent fragment length barcoding (FFLB) technique. Subsequently, the results were correlated with complementary information to enable better discrimination between the identified DTUs. FINDINGS It was possible to identify TcI in two humans and two triatomines; TcII/VI in 19 humans, two marsupials and one triatomine; and TcIII in one human host, an individual that also presented a result for TcI, which indicated the possibility of a mixed infection. Regarding the strains characterised by the TcII/VI profile, the correlation with complementary information allowed to suggest that, in general, these parasite populations indeed correspond to the TcII genotype. MAIN CONCLUSIONS The TcII/VI profile, associated with domestic cycles and patients with chronic Chagas disease, was the most prevalent among the identified DTUs. Furthermore, the correlation of the study results with complementary information made it possible to suggest that TcII is the predominant lineage of this work.

Resumo Introdução: A fitofotodermatite consiste numa reação inflamatória causada pela exposição da pele a agente tópico vegetal fotossensibilizante contendo furocumarinas, seguida de exposição a radiação ultravioleta. O caso clínico apresentado mostra a importância de uma cuidada anamnese aquando da avaliação clínica, já que a mesma é considerada a pedra basilar para o diagnóstico desta patologia. Descrição do caso: Homem, 59 anos, técnico de análises clínicas, com antecedentes pessoais de hipertensão arterial essencial medicada e controlada com ramipril 2,5mg e fototipo de pele Fitzpatrick II. Recorre à consulta por quadro de eritema linear e vesículas discretas de conteúdo claro na região anterior de ambos os antebraços que notou subitamente de manhã, na semana anterior. Negava prurido, mas referia sensação de calor e ardor nas lesões. Negava ainda conhecimento de fator desencadeante do quadro clínico, alergias conhecidas, aplicação de algum novo produto cosmético ou fármaco ou exposição solar prolongada, reforçando não ter havido alteração de hábitos diários. Após anamnese mais detalhada, o utente referiu que carregou em braços resíduos provenientes da poda do crescimento excessivo do seu terreno de cultivo, o que incluía arruda. O diagnóstico de fitofotodermatite foi assim estabelecido. Comentário: A família das Rutaceae, onde está incluída a arruda, é a segunda família de plantas que tem mais casos associados de fitofotodermatite. O diagnóstico desta patologia é clínico, sendo a anamnese fundamental para apurar a exposição a plantas que contenham furocumarinas. Neste caso, a apresentação característica de eritema linear e vesículas, com sensação de ardor, sem prurido, aliada a história de exposição a planta produtora de furocumarinas permite estabelecer o diagnóstico. A prevenção é o melhor tratamento, já que a eficácia da aplicação de corticoides tópicos, anti-histamínicos e outras intervenções tem evidência limitada. A hiperpigmentação surge uma a duas semanas após a exposição e pode persistir por mais de um ano.

Abstract Introduction: Phytophotodermatitis is an inflammatory reaction caused by skin exposure to a photosensitizing plant extract, followed by exposure to ultraviolet radiation. This case report highlights the importance of a well-thought anamnesis as part of the clinical evaluation, as it is the cornerstone for the correct identification of this diagnosis. Case description: Male, 59 years old, clinical analysis technician with a history of essential hypertension, medicated and controlled with ramipril 2.5mg, and Fitzpatrick II phototype. The patient came in with a manifestation of linear erythema and discrete vesicular lesions with clear content on the anterior forearms, which he noticed suddenly one morning, the week before. The patient denied itching but felt pain and stinging. He denied knowledge of any triggering factors, known allergies, new cosmetic products or drugs, prolonged sun exposure, and reinforced that there hadn’t been any changes in his daily routine. After more detailed anamnesis the patient mentioned having carried on bare arms, under sunlight exposure, the pruning scraps of his biological agriculture vegetable garden, which included rue. Phytophotodermatitis was therefore diagnosed. Commentary: The Rutaceae plant family, in which rue is included, is the second plant family with the most case reports of phytophotodermatitis. This is a clinical diagnosis and therefore the anamnesis is of central importance to identify exposure to potential furocoumarin-containing plants. In this case, the characteristic presentation of painful, non-pruritic, linear erythema and bullae, with the history of exposure to photosensitizing plant extract enabled the diagnosis. Prevention is the best treatment given the limited evidence on the efficacy of topical steroids, antihistamines, and other interventions. Skin hyperpigmentation presents within one or two weeks after exposure and can last for a year.

ABSTRACT Objective: Voluntary and automatic orienting of attention enable proper processing of environmental information. Few studies have assessed how this process varies during development in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Methods: This study analyzed voluntary and automatic orienting in 30 children with ADHD and 30 age and sex matched controls (Control group-CG). Two experiments assessed voluntary and automatic orienting by recording reaction times (RT) to conditions in relation to temporal interval, spatial position, cue validity and age. The RT medians calculated for each condition and participant were analyzed using ANOVA to compare ADHD and CG. Results: Children with ADHD exhibited globally higher RT than the CG group. They also showed prejudices during the reorienting process and demonstrated adequate voluntary orienting for shorter intervals. In automatic task, there was no group interaction, expressing early facilitation, but not inhibition of return. Conclusion: These results identify correlations of ADHD and the children's age in relation to voluntary and automatic orienting of attention.

RESUMO Os canabinoides compreendem os endocanabinoides, fitocanabinoides e os canabinoides sintéticos e desempenham ações no sistema nervoso central e periférico. Uma quantidade enorme de publicações tem sido lançada nos últimos anos, embora a cannabis seja conhecida por milênios. Os Departamentos Científicos da Academia Brasileira de Neurologia descreveram as evidências do uso médico em suas áreas. A literatura está em constantes mudanças e possíveis novas evidências podem surgir nos próximos dias ou meses. A prescrição dessas substâncias deve ser discutida com os pacientes e suas famílias, com conhecimento sobre eventos adversos e sua eficácia.

ABSTRACT Cannabinoids comprehend endocannabinoids, phytocannabinoids, and synthetic cannabinoids, with actions both in the central and peripherical nervous systems. A considerable amount of publications have been made in recent years, although cannabis has been known for over a thousand years. Scientific Departments from the Brazilian Academy of Neurology described evidence for medical use in their areas. Literature is constantly changing, and possible new evidence can emerge in the next days or months. Prescription of these substances must be discussed with patients and their families, with knowledge about adverse events and their efficacy.

Resumo Objetivo identificar fatores associados ao enfrentamento da pandemia da COVID-19 por pessoas idosas com e sem comorbidades. Método estudo descritivo, transversal, com pessoas idosas (n=569), entre 60 e 80 anos, com ou sem comorbidades, nas cinco regiões do Brasil. Coleta de dados com questionário virtual e análise com base na estatística descritiva e inferencial. Resultados os resultados mostram que 351, (61,68%), referem comorbidade. Houve associação significativa entre os grupos nas variáveis: faixa etária (p=0,017), realizar alguma atividade laboral (p≤0,001), pensamento da possibilidade de ser infectado pelo novo coronavírus (p≤0,001), concordar com medidas de prevenção adotadas para o distanciamento social (p≤0,001), se informar por outro meio de comunicação além da televisão (p≤0,001). Conclusão e implicações para a prática os idosos com comorbidades pensam na possibilidade de ser infectado pelo novo coronavírus, concordam mais com as medidas de distanciamento social e se informam mais. Nesse sentido, indica-se a realização de pesquisas com ênfase nos idosos sem comorbidade, para direcionar melhor os cuidados de saúde em tempos de pandemias.

Abstract Objective to identify factors associated to coping with the COVID-19 pandemic by older adults with and without comorbidities. Method a descriptive, cross-sectional study with older adults (n=569), aged between 60 and 80 years old, with or without comorbidities, in the five Brazilian regions. Data collection with virtual questionnaire and analysis based on descriptive and inferential statistics. Results the results show that 351 (61.68%) refer to comorbidity. There was a significant association between the groups in the following variables: age group (p=0.017), performing some work activity (p≤0.001), thinking about the possibility of being infected by the new coronavirus (p≤0.001), agreeing with prevention measures adopted for social distancing (p≤0.001), informing yourself by other means of communication besides television (p≤0.001). Conclusion and implications for the practice the older adults with comorbidities think about the possibility of being infected by the new coronavirus, agree more with the social distancing measures and get more information. To such an effect, it is recommended to carry out research studies with an emphasis on the older adult without comorbidity, to better target health care in pandemic times.

Método estudio descriptivo, transversal con personas mayores (n=569), entre 60 y 80 años, con o sin comorbilidades, en las cinco regiones de Brasil. La recolección de datos se realizó con cuestionario virtual y el análisis mediante estadística descriptiva e inferencial. Resultados los resultados muestran que 351 personas, (61,68%), refieren a comorbilidades. Hubo asociación significativa entre grupos en las variables: grupo de edad (p=0,017), realizar alguna actividad laboral (p≤0,001), pensar en la posibilidad de estar infectado por el nuevo coronavirus (p≤0,001), acuerdo con las medidas preventivas adoptadas para el distanciamiento social (p≤0.001), informarse por otros medios de comunicación además de la televisión (p≤0.001). Conclusión e implicaciones para la práctica los adultos mayores con comorbilidades piensan en la posibilidad de estar contagiados por el nuevo coronavirus, están más de acuerdo con las medidas de distanciamiento social y obtienen más información. En este sentido, se recomienda realizar una investigación con énfasis en los adultos mayores sin comorbilidades, para orientar mejor la atención sanitaria en tiempos de pandemia.

ABSTRACT This study describes difficulties in the monitoring of a child born during an oral outbreak of Chagas disease, in which there are several indications that the transmission occurred through the congenital route: 1. the mother was in the third trimester of pregnancy when she was infected; 2. She presented high parasitemia at the time of delivery; 3. In both, the mother and her daughter, T. cruzi was classified as DTU TcIV. The parasites were not found in the blood at birth and the infection was detected only three months later in an asymptomatic infant. As the mother and her child live in a highly endemic area, vector transmission could not be excluded during this period.
