Abstract Background: Only a fraction of patients with cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) will eventually progress toward systemic disease (SLE). Objective: To find inflammatory biomarkers which could predict the progression of cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) into systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) using immunohistochemical (IHC) assays. Methods: Immunohistochemical markers for cytotoxic, inflammatory, and anti-inflammatory responses and morphometric methods were applied to routine paraffin sections of skin biopsies, taken from lesions of 59 patients with discoid lupus, subacute lupus, and lupus tumidus. For the diagnosis of SLE, patients were classified by both the American College of Rheumatology (ACR-82) and the Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics (SLICC-12) systems. Results: Skin samples from CLE/SLE +patients presented higher expression of IL-1β (ARC-82: p = 0.024; SLICC-12: p = 0.0143) and a significantly higher number of cells marked with granzyme B and perforin (ARC: p = 0.0097; SLICC-12: p = 0.0148). Biopsies from CLE/SLE- individuals had higher expression of IL-17 (ARC-82: p = 0.0003; SLICC-12: p = 0.0351) and presented a positive correlation between the density of granzyme A+and FoxP3+ cells (ARC-82: p = 0.0257; SLICC-12: p = 0.0285) and CD8+ cells (ARC-82: p = 0.0075; SLICC-12: p = 0.0102), as well as between granulysin-positive and CD8+ cells (ARC-82: p = 0.0024; SLICC-12: p = 0.0116). Study limitations: Patients were evaluated at a specific point in their evolution and according to the presence or not of systemic disease. The authors cannot predict how many more, from each group, would have evolved towards SLE in the following years. Conclusions: In this cohort, immunohistochemical findings suggested that patients with a tendency to systemic disease will show strong reactivity for IL-1β, while those with purely cutaneous involvement will tend to express IL-17 more intensely.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Respiratory failure is the most common cause of death in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and morbidity is related to poor quality of life (QOL). Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) may be associated with prolonged survival and QOL in patients with ALS. OBJECTIVES: To assess whether NIV is effective and safe for patients with ALS in terms of survival and QOL, alerting the health system. DESIGN AND SETTING: Systematic review was conducted in accordance with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses reporting standards using population, intervention, comparison, and outcome strategies. METHODS: The Cochrane Library, CENTRAL, MEDLINE, LILACS, EMBASE, and CRD databases were searched based on the eligibility criteria for all types of studies on NIV use in patients with ALS published up to January 2022. Data were extracted from the included studies, and the findings were presented using a narrative synthesis. RESULTS: Of the 120 papers identified, only 14 were related to systematic reviews. After thorough reading, only one meta-analysis was considered eligible. In the second stage, 248 studies were included; however, only one systematic review was included. The results demonstrated that NIV provided relief from the symptoms of chronic hypoventilation, increased survival, and improved QOL compared to standard care. These results varied according to clinical phenotype. CONCLUSIONS: NIV in patients with ALS improves the outcome and can delay the indication for tracheostomy, reducing expenditure on hospitalization and occupancy of intensive care unit beds. ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Research on the economic burden of sedentary behavior and abdominal obesity on health expenses associated with cardiovascular diseases is scarce. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to verify whether sedentary behavior, isolated and combined with abdominal obesity, influences the medication expenditure among adults with cardiovascular diseases. DESIGN AND SETTING: This cross-sectional study was conducted in the city of President Prudente, State of São Paulo, Brazil in 2018. METHODS: The study included adults with cardiovascular diseases, aged 30-65 years, who were treated by the Brazilian National Health Services. Sedentary behavior was assessed using a questionnaire. Abdominal obesity was defined by waist circumference. Medication expenditures were verified using the medical records of each patient. RESULTS: The study included a total of 307 adults. Individuals classified in the group with risk factor obesity combined (median [IQ] USD$ 29.39 [45.77]) or isolated (median [IQ] USD$ 27.17 [59.76]) to sedentary behavior had higher medication expenditures than those belonging to the non-obese with low sedentary behavior group (median [IQ] USD$ 13.51 [31.42]) (P = 0.01). The group with combined obesity and sedentary behavior was 2.4 (95%CI = 1.00; 5.79) times more likely to be hypertensive. CONCLUSION: Abdominal obesity was a determining factor for medication expenses, regardless of sedentary behavior, among adults with cardiovascular diseases.

Abstract This observational study aimed to describe and analyze data from two external evaluations of the National Program for Improving Access to and Quality of Dental Specialty Centers (PMAQ CEO), held in 2014 and 2018 in Brazil, which evaluated Dental Specialty Centers (CEO) using a national and census approach. We selected questions through a search in the microdata of the first and second evaluations. The groups were analyzed independently. To compare the groups, nonparametric tests were performed (Mann Whitney U). The formulated hypotheses were: there would be no differences between the data of these groups (h0) and there would be differences between the data of these groups (h1). For qualitative nominal variables, frequency distribution was verified and association tests were performed (chi-square test). The significance level for this study was set at 5%. We observed that orthodontic treatments were found in about 13% of the CEO. Regarding human resources, most professionals were specialists or had MSc or PhD degrees; were civil servants; had been hired by direct administration; or had been hired via public tender. Regarding the work process and inclusion of the CEO in the health care network, we observed a greater number of services that use single and electronic medical records, greater presence of services monitoring and analyzing goals, greater knowledge about monthly average of absenteeism (for 2018); and larger number of services with referrals from primary health care centers (for 2014). Expanding the view on orthodontics and including preventive, interceptive, and corrective treatments at different points in health care networks are essential strategies for achieving comprehensive care in universal health systems.

ABSTRACT: This study aimed to optimize the ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) of total anthocyanins from two stages of ripening purple tomatoes (low and high) and to compare the optimized extraction with the conventional one. In the optimization of UAE, the studied variables were time (5 to 75 min), temperature (30 to 70 °C), and solid: liquid ratio (1:5 to 1:15 m/v). The optimal condition of the UAE process, for low-ripened purple tomatoes, occurs at a time of 75 min, temperature of 40 °C, and solid: liquid ratio of 1:15 m/v, predicting the content of 12.487 mg/100g. For high-ripened purple tomatoes, the optimal condition occurs at a time of 40 min, temperature of 50 °C, and solid: liquid ratio of 1:15 m/v, predicting the content of 8.802 mg/100 g. On validation of these optimized conditions, less than a 3% difference was reported between the predicted and experimental values (12.267 mg/100 g for low-ripened, and 8.894 mg/100 g for high-ripened purple tomatoes). When comparing the optimized UAE with the conventional extraction, it was observed that UAE increased (P < 0.05) the extraction of total anthocyanins content by 73% for low-ripened and by 54% for high-ripened purple tomatoes. Thus, the study indicated that the UAE is an efficient technology for recovering bioactive compounds from purple tomatoes.

RESUMO: Este estudo teve como objetivo otimizar a extração assistida por ultrassom (EAU) de antocianinas totais de dois estágios de maturação de tomates roxos (baixo e alto) e comparar a extração otimizada com a convencional. Na otimização da EAU, as variáveis estudadas foram tempo (5 a 75 min), temperatura (30 a 70 °C) e razão sólido:líquido (1:5 a 1:15 m/v). A condição otimizada da EAU, para tomates roxos em baixa maturação, ocorreu no tempo de 75 min, temperatura de 40 °C e razão sólido:líquido de 1:15 m/v, prevendo o teor de 12,487 mg/100 g. Para tomates roxos em alta maturação, a condição ideal ocorreu no tempo de 40 min, temperatura de 50 °C e razão sólido:líquido de 1:15 m/v, prevendo o teor de 8,802 mg/100 g. Na validação das condições otimizadas, foi encontrada uma diferença inferior a 3% entre os valores previstos e experimentais (12,267 mg/100g para baixa-maturação e 8,894 mg/100 g para alta-maturação). Ao comparar a EAU otimizada com a convencional, observou-se que a EAU aumentou (P < 0,05) a extração de antocianinas totais em 73% para tomates em baixa-maturação e 54% para tomates roxos em alta-maturação. Assim, o estudo indica que os EAU é uma tecnologia eficiente para a recuperação de antocianinas de tomates roxos.

Introduction: Medulloblastomas are the most common solid tumors of childhood and many studies seek to develop new chemotherapy drugs by identifying genes whose expression is new molecular targets for drugs, such as membrane receptors associated with cell replication. Objective: To review existing knowledge about the association of CD114 expression with mortality in medulloblastoma. Method: Narrative review collecting information with material for reading and analysis selected from research on virtual platforms (SciELO, Pubmed and Scopus). Initially, a search was carried out for descriptors related to the topic, which were identified through MESH using the following terms: “neurosurgery, surgical oncology, molecular targeted therapy, medulloblastoma” with AND or OR search, considering the title and/or abstract. After, the search was carried out, the title and abstract were analyzed and those that could be included were read in full. Results: 23 articles were included. Conclusion: There is no direct relationship between the expression of the CD114 membrane receptor and mortality in patients with medulloblastoma, and additional studies should be carried out on the intracellular signaling pathways associated with this receptor and its gene, CSF3R

Introdução: Meduloblastomas são os tumores sólidos mais comuns da infância e muitos estudos buscam desenvolvimento de novos quimioterápicos com a identificação de genes cuja expressão sejam novos alvos moleculares para drogas, como receptores de membrana associados à replicação celular. Objetivo: Revisar o cohecimento existente sobre a associação da expressão de CD114 com a mortalidade no meduloblastoma. Método: Revisão narrativa colhendo informações com o material para leitura e análise selecionado a partir de pesquisa em plataformas virtuais (SciELO, Pubmed e Scopus). Inicialmente foi realizada busca por descritores relacionados ao tema, os quais foram identificados por meio do DeCS utilizando os seguintes termos: “neurocirurgia, oncologia cirúrgica, terapia de alvo molecular, meduloblastoma” ” e seus equivalentes em inglês &nbsp;“neurosurgery, surgical oncology, molecular targeted therapy, medulloblastoma” com busca AND ou OR, considerando o título e/ou resumo. Feita a busca, foi realizada análise do título, resumo e lidos na íntegra aqueles que poderiam ser incluídos. &nbsp;Resultados: Foram incluídos 23 artigos. Conclusão: Não há relação direta entre a expressão do receptor de membrana CD114 e a mortalidade em pacientes portadores de meduloblastoma e estudos adicionais devem ser feitos sobre as vias de sinalização intracelulares associadas a esse receptor e ao seu gene, o CSF3R.

ABSTRACT Living close to green areas and regions with high walkability index contribute to reducing the risk of diseases, but there are few longitudinal studies in low-and middle-income countries. In São Paulo, there was an important policy to implement bicycle paths, and the protective effect of physical activities on diseases such as hypertension is already known. To verify the relationships between possible changes in exposure to bike paths within 1 km of homes with leisure-time physical activity (LTPA), we used data from a cohort where n=1,431 people were evaluated between 2014/2015 and 2020/2021. LTPA and hypertension were assessed by questionnaires. The availability of bike paths within 1 km of residential addresses was evaluated between 2015 and 2020 by georeferencing and changes in the period were calculated. Bivariate statistical associations and multilevel analyzes were performed. There was an increase in hypertension (from 26.2% to 35.6%) and in LTPA (from 36.4% to 47.6%), but they were inversely associated in both periods (p<0.001). The increase of exposition in bike paths was more localized in the central regions of the city. Multilevel analyzes showed that people who were exposed to positive maintenance or an increase in bike paths were more likely to practice LTPA in the period (OR=1.39 CI95% 1.07-1.79). However, it is necessary to expand these facilities throughout the city of São Paulo to reduce environmental inequalities and to contribute more effectively to the prevention of hypertension.

RESUMO Residir nas proximidades de áreas verdes e em regiões com altos índices de caminhabilidade contribui para diminuir o risco de doenças, mas existem poucos estudos longitudinais em países de baixa e média rendas. Em São Paulo houve uma política importante de implementação de ciclovias e já é conhecido o efeito protetor das práticas de atividades físicas em doenças como a hipertensão arterial. Para verificar as relações entre possíveis mudanças na exposição às ciclovias a até 1 km das residências com as práticas de Atividade Física no Lazer (AFL), utilizamos dados de uma coorte onde foram avaliadas n=1.431 pessoas entre 2014/2015 e 2020/2021. As AFL e a hipertensão foram avaliadas por questionários. A disponibilidade de ciclovias a até 1 km dos endereços residenciais foi avaliada entre 2015 e 2020 por georreferenciamento e foram calculadas as mudanças no período. Foram realizadas associações estatísticas bivariadas e análises multiníveis. Houve aumento na hipertensão (de 26,2% para 35,6%) e na AFL (de 36,4% para 47,6%), mas foram associadas inversamente em ambos os períodos (p<0,001). O aumento das ciclovias foi mais localizado em regiões centrais da cidade. As análises multiníveis mostraram que as pessoas que foram expostas a manutenção positiva ou aumento da exposição de ciclovias tiveram mais chances de praticarem AFL no período (OR=1,39 IC95% 1,07-1,79). No entanto, é preciso ampliar esta estrutura por toda a cidade de São Paulo, para que possamos diminuir as iniquidades ambientais e contribuir de forma mais efetiva para a prevenção da hipertensão.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Fabry disease (FD) is an inborn error of metabolism characterized by α-galactosidase A deficiency. The primary objective was to evaluate the genetic and phenotypic profile of Fabry disease in hemodialysis. Methods: Observational cohort study to determine the incidence of genetic variations and phenotypic changes for FD in hemodialysis patients in the Paraiba Valley and Eastern São Paulo. Genetic testing for the GLA gene was performed for men and women over 12 years of age at the hemodialysis clinics between January 2016 and December 2019 as a screening protocol. Results: The cases came from screening exams of the index case among patients with chronic kidney disease, resulting in 17 families and totaling 82 patients under study. The classification of the most prevalent variant was that of uncertain significance (54%), followed by the pathogenic variant (46%). Five patients in two families were described with two types of variants not previously described in the literature, with pathogenic behavior. Comparing the types of variants, the presence of a pathogenic variant was associated with higher levels of lysoGB3, lower values for alpha-GAL activity and higher frequency of symptoms related to FD. Conclusion: We characterized an extensive population of patients with FD variants with rich genetic, clinical and biomarker details. We believe that this study can help to better characterize the Brazilian population with FD and the most frequent types of variants.

RESUMO Introdução: A doença de Fabry (DF) é um erro inato do metabolismo caracterizado pela deficiência da enzima α-galactosidase A. O objetivo primário foi avaliar o perfil genético e fenotípico da doença de Fabry em hemodiálise. Métodos: Estudo de coorte observacional para determinar a incidência de variações genéticas e alterações fenotípicas para DF em pacientes em hemodiálise no Vale do Paraíba e Zona Leste de São Paulo. O teste genético para o gene GLA foi realizado para homens e mulheres em todos os pacientes das clínicas de hemodiálise maiores de 12 anos entre janeiro de 2016 a dezembro de 2019 como protocolo de rastreio. Resultados: Os casos foram provenientes de exames de triagem do caso índice entre pacientes portadores de doença renal crônica, resultando em 17 famílias e totalizando 82 pacientes em estudo. A classificação da variante mais prevalente foi a de significado incerto (54%), seguida da variante patogênica (46%). Foram descritos 5 pacientes em duas famílias com dois tipos de variantes ainda não previamente descritos na literatura com comportamento patogênico. Na comparação entre os tipos de variantes, a presença de variante patogênica foi associada a maiores níveis de lysoGB3, menores valores da atividade da alfa-GAL e maior frequência de sintomas relativos à DF. Conclusão: Caracterizamos uma extensa população de pacientes com variantes para DF com riqueza de detalhes de genética, clínica e de biomarcadores. Acreditamos que este estudo possa auxiliar na melhor caracterização da população brasileira com DF e nos tipos mais frequentes de variantes.

Resumo Trata-se de um artigo original que aborda a força de trabalho (FT) em saúde no Brasil, suas comorbidades e alterações da saúde mental na pandemia da COVID-19. O estudo conduzido pela Fundação Oswaldo Cruz coletou dados por meio de questionário on-line com um total de 36.612 participantes: profissionais de saúde (PS, formação de nível superior), e trabalhadores invisíveis (TI, nível técnico). A prevalência de comorbidades no Brasil foi de 26,1% e 23,9%, a maior foi hipertensão arterial (27,4% e 31,9%), seguida da obesidade (18,4% e 15,1%), doenças crônicas respiratórias (15,7% e 12,9%), diabetes mellitus (10,3% e 10,4%), e depressão/ansiedade (9,1% e 11,7%), nos PS e TI, respectivamente. A região com maior frequência foi a sudeste onde concentra-se o maior contingente de trabalhadores. A FT acometida com alta carga de doenças crônicas não transmissíveis e exposta ao SARS-CoV-2, torna-se vulnerável para o adoecimento e morte. Sintomas mentais e intenso sofrimento psíquico foram relatados. Os resultados deste estudo nos permitem estimar o impacto na saúde física e mental, e nas condições de vida e de trabalho da FT. A saúde e a vida dos trabalhadores, protagonistas no enfrentamento dos desafios da pandemia, são prioridade nas políticas públicas.

This study was conducted by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation and collected data through an online questionnaires from a total of 36,612 participants, health professionals (HP, with higher education level), and invisible healthcare workers (IHW, with a technical mid-level education). The overall prevalence of comorbidities in Brazil was 26.1% and 23.9%; the highest was arterial hypertension (27.4% and 31.9%), followed by obesity (18.4% and 15.1%), chronic respiratory diseases (15.7% and 12.9%), diabetes mellitus (10.3% and 10.4%), and depression/anxiety (9.1% and 11.7%), in the HW and IHW, respectively. The region with the highest frequency was the southeast, where the largest contingent of workers is located. The HW, affected with a high burden of non-communicable chronic diseases and exposed to SARS-CoV-2, proved to be vulnerable to illness and death. Mental symptoms and intense psychological suffering have been reported. These results allow us to estimate the impacts upon physical and mental health, as well as upon living and working conditions of the HW. The health and life of workers, leading role in facing health challenges of the pandemic, are a high priority in public policies.

Abstract This in vitro study synthesized hybrid nanofibers embedded in graphene oxide (GO) and incorporated them into experimental resin composite monomers to evaluate their physical-mechanical properties. Inorganic-organic hybrid nanofibers were produced with precursor solutions of 1% wt. GO-filled Poly (d,l-lactide, PLA) fibers and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) characterized the morphology and chemical composition of the spun fibers. Resin composite monomers were developed and a total of 5% nanofibers were incorporated into the experimental materials. Three groups were developed: G1 (control resin monomers), G2 (resin monomers/PLA nanofibers), and G3 (resin monomers/inorganic-organic hybrid nanofibers). Contact angle (n=3), flexural strength (n=22), elastic modulus (n=22), and Knoop hardness (n=6) were evaluated. The mean of the three indentations was obtained for each sample. The normality of data was assessed by QQ Plot with simulated envelopes and analyzed by Welch's method (p<0.05). Overall, SEM images showed the regular shape of nanofibers but were non-aligned. Compositional analysis from EDS (n=6) revealed the presence of carbon and oxygen (present in GO composition) and Si from the functionalization process. The results of contact angle (°) and hardness (Kg/mm2) for each group were as follow, respectively: G1 (59.65±2.90; 37.48±1.86a), G2 (67.99±3.93; 50.56±1.03b) and G3 (62.52±7.40; 67.83±1.01c). The group G3 showed the highest Knoop hardness values (67.83 kg/mm2), and the flexural strength of all groups was adversely affected. The experimental resin composite composed of hybrid nanofibers with GO presented increased hardness values and hydrophilic behavior.

Resumo Este estudo in vitro sintetizou nanofibras híbridas embebidas em óxido de grafeno (GO), incorporando-as à uma resina composta experimental de monômeros para avaliar suas propriedades físico-mecânicas. Nanofibras híbridas inorgânica-orgânicas foram produzidas com soluções precursoras de fibras poli (d, l-lactídeo, PLA) preenchidas com GO a 1% em peso e microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV) e espectroscopia de raio-X de energia dispersiva (EDS) caracterizaram a morfologia e composição química das fibras. Monômeros de resina composta foram desenvolvidos e um total de 5% de nanofibras foi incorporado aos materiais experimentais. Três grupos foram desenvolvidos: G1 (monômeros de resina controle), G2 (monômeros de resina/ nanofibras de PLA) e G3 (monômeros de resina/nanofibras híbridas inorgânico-orgânicas). Ângulo de contato (n=3), resistência à flexão (n=22), módulo de elasticidade (n=22) e dureza Knoop (n=6) foram avaliados. A média das três endentações foi obtida para cada amostra. A normalidade dos dados foi avaliada pelo QQ Plot com envelopes simulados e analisada pelo método de Welch (p<0,05). No geral, as imagens de MEV mostraram forma regular de nanofibras, mas não alinhadas. A análise composicional de EDS (n=6) revelou a presença de carbono e oxigênio (presentes na composição do GO) e Si resultante do processo de funcionalização. Os resultados do ângulo de contato (°) e dureza (Kg/mm2) para cada grupo foram os seguintes, respectivamente: G1 (59,65±2,90; 37,48±1,86a), G2 (67,99±3,93; 50,56±1,03b) e G3 (62,52±7,40; 67,83±1,01c). G3 apresentou os maiores valores de dureza Knoop (67,83 kg/mm2), e a resistência à flexão de todos os grupos foi prejudicada. A resina composta experimental composta por nanofibras híbridas com GO apresentou maiores valores de dureza e comportamento hidrofílico.

Resumo O presente estudo teve como objetivo comparar por grupo etário, sexo, nível competitivo, posição de jogo e anos de prática de futebol dos futebolistas moçambicanos em função das orientações cognitivas para o ego e tarefa. A amostra foi constituída por 443 praticantes de futebol pertencentes a 32 clubes, sendo 196 (44.2%) femininos e 247 (55.8%) masculinos, com idades compreendidas entre os 16 e os 37 anos. Para a realização do estudo foi aplicada a versão traduzida e validada para a língua portuguesa do Task and Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire - TEOSQ. Os resultados evidenciam que os futebolistas obtiveram valores altos quanto à orientação cognitiva para a tarefa (4.01 ± 1.07) e moderadamente baixos quanto à orientação para o ego (2.72 ± 1.17). Face aos resultados, conclui-se que o tipo da orientação cognitiva da prática desportiva é um factor importante que distingue os futebolistas moçambicanos. Há predominância de uma orientação cognitiva voltada para a tarefa nestes futebolistas, favorecendo a uma maior manifestação de atitudes desportivas indo de acordo com as evidências literárias em outros contextos de futebol.

Abstract The present study aimed to compare by age group, sex, competitive level, game position, and years of soccer practice of Mozambican soccer players as a function of cognitive orientations for the ego and task. The sample consisted of 443 soccer players from 32 clubs, 196 (44.2%) female and 247 (55.8%) male, aged between 16 and 37 years. To carry out the study, the version translated and validated into Portuguese of the Task and Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire - TEOSQ was applied. The results show that soccer players obtained high values for cognitive task orientation (4.01 ± 1.07) and moderately low values for ego orientation (2.72 ± 1.17). Given the results, it is concluded that the type of cognitive orientation of sports practice is an important factor that distinguishes Mozambican footballers. There is a predominance of a task-oriented cognitive orientation in these footballers, favoring a greater manifestation of sporting attitudes following the literary evidence in other football contexts.

Resumen Introducción: Las personas físicamente activas parecen tener mejores indicadores de salud mental y estrés en comparación con personas con actividad física insuficiente. Sin embargo, el análisis de la práctica de actividad física y los indicadores de salud mental de trabajadores del sector bancario no ha sido explorado durante la pandemia por COVID-19. Objetivo: Analizar los puntajes de depresión, ansiedad, estrés y actividad física en trabajadores del sector bancario durante la pandemia por COVID-19. Método: Se aplicó una estrategia comparativa asociativa con 21 trabajadores del sector bancario (24-44 años, 71.4 % mujeres) en una ciudad del Nordeste de Brasil. Se aplicó un cuestionario en línea explorando información sociodemográfica y antropométrica, indicadores de ansiedad, depresión y estrés (EADS-21), función laboral y nivel de actividad física. La correlación entre las puntuaciones del EADS-21 y el nivel de actividad física se obtuvo mediante el coeficiente Rho de Spearman. Además, la comparación de indicadores entre personas adultas insuficientemente activas y físicamente activas se realizó mediante la prueba U de Mann-Whitney. Resultados: El nivel de actividad física mostró una correlación débil y inversa con las puntuaciones de ansiedad (Rho= −0.15), depresión (Rho= −0.35) y estrés (Rho= −0.11). Además, se encontró que no hubo diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre personas trabajadoras insuficientemente activas en el sector bancario vs. físicamente activas, en relación con la ansiedad (P= 0.719), la depresión (P= 0.548) o el estrés (P= 0.842). Conclusión: Los indicadores de salud mental y estrés se asociaron inversamente con la práctica habitual de actividad física. Además, las puntuaciones de ansiedad, depresión y estrés fueron similares entre personas trabajadoras bancarias físicamente activas e insuficientemente activas.

Resumo Introdução: Indivíduos fisicamente ativos parecem apresentar melhores indicadores de saúde mental e estresse em comparação a seus congêneres com prática insuficiente de atividade física. Contudo, a análise da prática de atividade física e de indicadores de saúde mental de trabalhadores do setor bancário não tem sido explorada durante a pandemia da COVID-19. Objetivo: Analisar escores de depressão, ansiedade, estresse e da prática de atividade física em trabalhadores do setor bancário durante a pandemia da COVID-19. Método: Uma estratégia comparativa associativa foi empregada com 21 trabalhadores do setor bancário (24-44 anos, 71,4% mulheres) de uma cidade do Nordeste brasileiro. Um questionário on-line foi aplicado explorando informações sociodemográficas, antropométricas, indicadores de ansiedade, depressão e estresse (EADS-21), de função laboral e do nível de atividade física. A correlação entre os escores EADS-21 e o nível de atividade física foi obtida pelo coeficiente Rho de Spearman e a comparação dos indicadores entre trabalhadores insuficientemente ativos e fisicamente ativos foi realizada pelo teste U de Mann-Whitney. Resultados: O nível de atividade física apresentou uma correlação fraca e inversa com os escores de ansiedade (Rho= −0,15), depressão (Rho= −0,35) e de estresse (Rho= −0,11). Além disso, verificou-se que não houve diferença estatisticamente significante entre os trabalhadores do setor bancário insuficientemente ativos vs. fisicamente ativos em relação à ansiedade (P= 0,719), depressão (P= 0,548) ou estresse (P= 0,842). Conclusão: Os indicadores de saúde mental e estresse foram inversamente associados à prática regular de atividade física. Em adição, os níveis de ansiedade, depressão e estresse foram similares entre trabalhadores do setor bancário fisicamente ativos e insuficientemente ativos.

Abstract Introduction: Physically active individuals seem to have better indicators of mental health and stress compared to their insufficient physical activity peers. However, the analysis of physical activity levels and mental health indicators of bank employees has not been explored during the COVID-19 pandemic. Objective: To analyze depression, anxiety, stress, and physical activity scores in bank employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: An associative comparative strategy was applied with 21 bank employees (24-44 years, 71.4% women) in a city in Northeast Brazil. An online questionnaire was applied exploring sociodemographic and anthropometric information, indicators of anxiety, depression, and stress (EADS-21), occupational function, and physical activity levels. The correlation between the EADS-21 scores and the physical activity levels was obtained using Spearman's Rho coefficient and the comparison of indicators between insufficiently active and physically active workers was performed using the Mann-Whitney U test. Results: The physical activity levels showed a weak and inverse correlation with anxiety (Rho= −0.15), depression (Rho= −0.35), and stress (Rho= −0.11) scores. In addition, it was found that there was no statistically significant difference between insufficiently active vs. physically active bank employees concerning anxiety (P= 0.719), depression (P= 0.548), or stress (P= 0.842). Conclusion: Mental health and stress indicators were inversely associated with regular physical activity levels. In addition, scores of anxiety, depression, and stress were similar between physically active and insufficiently active bank employees.

RESUMO O desempenho dos paracanoistas é caracterizado pela capacidade do atleta de avançar em velocidade máxima, através do movimento tecnicamente ideal. É importante considerar que no caso de para atletas, a aplicação de forças na remada é comprometida devido a deficiências apresentada. Assim, este estudo tem como objetivo avaliar o desempenho de atletas das classes esportivas KL1, KL2 e KL3, durante uma prova paralímpica de paracanoagem. A amostra foi composta por atletas da equipe brasileira de paracanoagem masculina, com um representante de cada classe esportiva. Para a análises do rendimento, foi utilizado o ergómetro de kayak (KayakPro®, Miami Beach, FL, EUA.) para simular uma prova de 200 metros. As variáveis avaliadas foram: tempo, frequência de remada, velocidade média, número de remada, comprimento de remada, índice de remada e potência. De acordo com os resultados: I) o atleta KL3 teve o menor número de remadas, o maior comprimento de remada e a maior índice de remada; II) o atleta KL1 teve o maior número de remadas, o maior comprimento de remada e índice de remada. Este estudo coloca em perspectiva as características de uma prova de paracanoagem, respeitando a especificidade de cada classe esportiva.

ABSTRACT The performance of paracanoists is characterized by the ability of the athlete to advance at maximum speed, through a technically optimal paddling motion. It`s important to consider that in the case of para-athletes, the application of forces towards paddling is compromised by physical deficiencies. Thus, this study aims to assess the performance of athletes in the KL1, KL2 and KL3 sport classes, during a paralympic paracanoe event. The sample was composed of athletes from the Brazilian male paracanoe team, with a representative of each sport class: KL1, KL2, KL3 For performance analysis, we used a kayak ergometer (KayakPro®, Miami Beach, FL, USA) to simulate a 200-meter trial, during Rio 2016 Paralympic Games Road. The variables were evaluated: time trial, stroke frequency, mean speed, number of strokes, stroke length, stroke index, and power. According to results: I) the athlete KL3 had the lowest number of strokes, the longest stroke length and the highest stroke rate index; II) the athlete KL1 had the highest number of strokes, the lowest stroke length and the stroke rate index. This study puts into perspective the distinct characteristics of a paracanoe trial, analyzed in consideration to each sport class.

RESUMEN El rendimiento de los paracanoistas se caracteriza por la capacidad del atleta para avanzar a la máxima velocidad, mediante un movimiento técnicamente óptimo. Es importante considerar que en el caso de los para atletas, la aplicación de fuerzas hacia el remo se ve comprometida por la discapacidad. Por lo tanto, este estudio tiene como objetivo evaluar el rendimiento de los atletas en las clases deportivas KL1, KL2 y KL3. La muestra estuvo compuesta por atletas de la selección brasileña masculina de paracanotaje, con un representante de cada clase deportiva. Para el análisis del rendimiento, utilizamos un ergómetro de kayak (KayakPro®, Miami Beach, FL, EE. UU.) para simular una prueba de 200 metros. Las variables monitoreadas fueran: tiempo, frecuencia de remada, velocidad media, número de remada, longitud de remada, índice de remada y potencia. Según los resultados: I) el atleta de la clase KL3 realizó el menor número de remadas, mayor longitud de remada y el mayor índice de remada.; II) el atleta de la clase KL1 realizó el mayor número de remadas, menor longitud de remada y índice de remada. Este estudio pone en perspectiva las distintas características de una prueba de paracanotaje, analizadas en consideración a cada clase deportiva.
