ABSTRACT This study purposed to compare responses of segmented neutrophils, monocytes, lymphocytes, and T lymphocyte Clusters of Differentiation 4 and 8 to blood flow restriction training in HIV patients. Two HIV patients participated in the study, one patient had a sedentary lifestyle, and the other was physically active. HIV-infected female patients performed a blood flow restriction training session consisting of two exercises: flat bench press and knee extension. Blood (6 mL) was collected for analysis prior to training, immediately after training, and 30 minutes after. After blood flow restriction training, percentage changes in the number of leukocytes were observed in both patients. Monocytes showed different responses in the two patients: a decrease in monocyte count was seen in the physically active, and an increase was observed in the sedentary lifestyle. Lymphocytes showed a higher increase in the physically active than in the sedentary lifestyle. There was an increase in the CD4+ / CD8+ T lymphocyte ratio in both patients. It was concluded blood flow restriction promoted acute inflammation after training, shown by changes in immune cell counts. These changes did not promote immunosuppression; instead, an increase in CD4+ / CD8+ T lymphocyte ratio was observed; and HIV-infected came similar results.

RESUMO O objetivo desse estudo foi traduzir e adaptar culturalmente a escala Self-Talk Questionnaire for Sports (S-TQ). O processo de tradução e adaptação cultural para o idioma português do Brasil foi feito em quatro etapas, a saber: tradução, retrotradução, teste de compreensão com especialistas, teste de compreensão com público-alvo. Após o processo de tradução independente, as duas versões foram comparadas e alcançaram uma igualdade de tradução em 93,59% do texto. Após o processo de retrotradução, esse percentual foi de 85,83%. Nas etapas subsequentes, a versão do S-TQ foi considerada com bom nível de compreensão, manteve um percentual acima dos 90% nesse quesito. Diante disso, conclui-se que o S-TQ está apto para os processos de validação da escala.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to translate and culturally adapt the Self-Talk Questionnaire for Sports (S-TQ). The process of its translation and cultural adaptation to the Brazilian Portuguese language was carried out in 4 stages: translation, backtranslation, comprehension test with specialists, and comprehension test with the target audience. After the independent translation process, the two versions were compared, and it was found that translation equality was reached for 93.59% of the text and 85.83% after the backtranslation process. In the subsequent steps, the S-TQ version was considered to have a good level of understanding, and it maintained greater than 90% in this regard. Therefore, it is concluded that the S-TQ for sports is suitable for scale validation processes.

RESUMEN El objetivo de este estudio fue traducir y adaptar culturalmente la escala Self-Talk Questionnaire for Sports (S-TQ). El proceso de traducción y adaptación cultural al portugués de Brasil se llevó a cabo en 4 etapas, a saber: traducción, retrotraducción, prueba de comprensión de los especialistas y prueba de comprensión del público objetivo. Después del proceso de traducción independiente, se compararon las dos versiones fueron y se alcanzó una igualdad en la traducción del 93,59% del texto y del 85,83% después de la retrotraducción. En las etapas posteriores, se estimó que la versión del S-TQ tenía un buen nivel de comprensión al mantener un porcentaje por encima del 90% en ese aspecto. Por tanto, se concluye que el S-TQ es apto para los procesos de validación de la escala.

O objetivo do presente estudo foi verificar o efeito agudo do exercício predominantemente aeróbico (EA) com restrição de fluxo sanguíneo (RFS) sobre a pressão arterial sistólica (PAS), pressão arterial diastólica (PAD) e frequência cardíaca (FC) em jovens saudáveis. Participaram do estudo 13 universitários normotensos (19.5 ± 1.7anos). Os participantes foram divididos randomicamente em duas sessões experimentais (cross-over): a) exercício aeróbico com a RFS (EARFS); b) exercício aeróbico sem a RFS (EASRFS). As sessões foram realizadas com cinco séries de dois minutos e um minuto de intervalo. A PAS, PAD e FC foram mensurados em repouso, no final dos exercícios e durante os 60 minutos pós-exercício. O EASRFS apresentou efeito hipotensivo no 60º pós-exercício (p= 0.029); o EA com e sem RFS elevou significativamente a PAS e FC imediatamente após o exercício (p< 0.05), e o EARFS apresentou valores de PAD e FC superiores, no momento imediatamente pós-exercício, quando comparado com o EASRFS (p= 0.001; p< 0.001, respectivamente). Conclui-se, que o EARFS parece não maximizar o efeito hipotensivo, ambos as sessões podem elevar a PAS e FC imediatamente pós-exercício com valores significativos maiores na PAD e FC para o EARFS.

The aim of the present study was to verify the acute effect of the aerobic exercise (AE) with blood flow restriction (BFR) upon systolic (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and heart rate (HR) in health youngsters. Participated in the present study 13 young normotensive students (19.5 ± 1.7 years old). The sample was randomly divided into two experimental protocols: stationary race with BFR and stationary race without BFR. Subjects performed 5 sets of 2 minutes with 1 minute of rest interval for both protocols. SBP, DBP and HR were measured at rest, in the end of the exercises and during 60 minutes after conditions. The AE without BFR presented hypotensive effect 60 minutes post exercise (p= 0.029); the AE with and without BFR elevated significantly the SBP and HR immediately post exercise (p< 0.05) and the AE with BFR presented higher DBP and HR values immediately post-exercise when compared to AE without BFR (p= 0.001; p< 0.001, respectively). It is concluded that the AE without BFR does not seem to maximize the hypotensive effect, both sessions can increase SBP and HR immediately post-exercise with significant higher values in DBP and HR for AE with BFR.

Este estudo analisou o efeito da suplementação com creatina ou glutamina sobre variáveis bioquímicas em policiais de militares. Neste propósito, desenvolveu-se um estudo experimental, duplo cego, com amostra de 32 homens distribuídos aleatoriamente, em três grupos: suplementados em creatina (n=10), glutamina (n=10) e grupo placebo (n=12) e avaliados em três momentos distintos, num intervalo de três meses (T1, T2 e T3) durante o período do treinamento físico militar, com frequência de cinco sessões de 90 minutos, por semana. Por meio da análise sanguínea mensuraram-se: os níveis de creatinina, triglicerídeos, colesterol total, HDL, VLDL, LDL. Deste modo, foi observado que a suplementação não foi a principal responsável pelas modificações observadas nas medidas ao longo do estudo, já que apenas o efeito do tempo foi significativo em três medidas: CREA (p= 0.001, ηp²= 0.50), HDL (p= 0.001, ηp²= 0.30), LDL (p= 0.009, ηp²= 0.20). Ou seja, a suplementação com creatina ou glutamina em policiais militares submetidos ao treinamento físico militar não causou efeito sobre as medidas bioquímicas.

The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of the supplementation of creatine and glutamine on biochemical variables in military police officers. Therefore, an experimental double blind study was developed, with final sample composed by 32 men distributed randomly, in three groups: supplemented in creatine (n=10), glutamine (n=10) and placebo group (n=12) and evaluated in three distinct moments, in an interval of three months (T1, T2 and T3). The physical training had weekly frequency of 05 sessions x 90 min of training. Through analysis of the blood is measured: the levels of creatinine, triglycerides, total cholesterol, HDL, VLDL, LDL. Thus, it was observed that supplementation was not primarily responsible for the changes observed in measures throughout the study, since only the time had a significant effect and in only three variables: CREA (p= 0.001, ηp2= 0.50), HDL (p= 0.001, ηp2= 0.30), LDL (p= 0.009, ηp2= 0.20). That is, supplementation with creatine or glutamine in the military police subjected to military physical training do not caused effect on biochemical measures.
