Resumen El mejoramiento genético de los cultivares de soja a lo largo de los años se ha centrado en aumentar la capacidad productiva y la tolerancia a algunos factores abióticos y bióticos. Sin embargo, durante la transferencia de genes de interés, algunos genes responsables de una menor tolerancia a los herbicidas pueden integrarse en el genoma del nuevo cultivar. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la selectividad de las asociaciones de herbicidas apli cadas en la post-emergencia de tres cultivares de soja. El diseño experimental utilizado fue un bloque completamente al azar, con cuatro repeticiones. Los cultivares seleccionados fueron M7110 IPRO®, Foco IPRO® y Bônus IPRO®. Los herbicidas y las respectivas dosis (g a.i. ha-1) utilizados fueron: glyphosate (1176), glyphosate + bentazon (1176 + 600), glyphosate + fomesafen (1176 + 175), glyphosate + lactofen (1176 + 120), glyphosate + imazethapyr (1176 + 100), glyphosate + chlorimuron (1176 + 10), glyphosate + cloransulam (1176 + 39,5), y un control sin aplicación de herbicida. Se hizo una nota visual de intoxicación para cada tratamiento. Los componentes de crecimiento y rendimiento evaluados fueron: altura, rodal, peso de cien granos y rendimiento. La aplicación de herbicidas en post-emergencia no alteró la masa vegetal de los cultivares de soja. Además, estos herbicidas no redujeron el rendimiento de los cultivares M7110 IPRO® y Foco IPRO®. Tanto el glifosato aislado como mezclado con lactofen o imazethapyr redujeron el rendimiento del cultivar Bônus IPRO®.

Abstract The genetic improvement of soybean cultivars over the years has focused on increasing the yield potential and tolerance to some abiotic and biotic factors. However, during the transfer of genes of interest, some genes responsible for a lower tolerance to herbicides can be integrated into the genome of the new cultivar. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the selectivity of herbicide associations applied in the postemergence period of three soybean cultivars. The experiment was conducted in a randomized completely block design, with four replications. The selected cultivars were M7110 IPRO®, Foco IPRO®, and Bônus IPRO®. The herbicides and the respective doses (g a.i. ha-1) used were glyphosate (1176), glyphosate + bentazon (1176 + 600), glyphosate + fomesafen (1176 + 175), glyphosate + lactofen (1176 + 120), glyphosate + imazethapyr (1176 + 100), glyphosate + chlorimuron (1176 + 10), glyphosate + cloransulam (1176 + 39.5), and a control without herbicide application. The visual note of intoxication was evaluated for each treatment. The components of growth and yield evaluated were height, stand, weight of one hundred grains, and yield. The application of postherbicide herbicides did not alter the plant stands of soybean cultivars. Additionally, these herbicides did not reduce the yield of the M7110 IPRO® and Foco IPRO® cultivars. Glyphosate isolated and in association with lactofen or imazethapyr reduced the grain yield of the Bônus IPRO® cultivar.

Abstract Objectives This is a double-blind, split-mouth, randomized clinical study that aims to evaluate the influence of bulk-fill composite packaging presented in syringes (BSy) and capsules (BCa), and the effect of selective enamel etching (SEE) on the clinical performance of class I and II bulk-fill resin composite restorations after 24 months. Methodology A total of 295 class I or class II restorations were performed on 70 patients. One universal adhesive was applied in all restorations. SEE was used in 148 restorations and self-etching mode (SET) in 147 restorations. After the adhesive application, cavities were restored with Filtek Bulk-fill Posterior Restorative in syringes (BSy), Filtek One Bulk-fill in capsules (BCa), or Filtek Supreme Ultra in syringes with the incremental technique (In). All restorations were evaluated using the FDI criteria after one week and after six, 12, and 24 months. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Pearson’s Chi-square test were used (α=0.05) for statistical analysis. Results After 24 months, 62 patients were evaluated and four restorations were lost due to fracture (one for SEEBSy, two for SEEIn, and one for SETIn). No significant differences in the fracture and retention rate were found between groups (p>0.05). SEE showed significantly fewer marginal adaptation defects than SET (p<0.05). BCa and BSy groups showed fewer marginal discrepancies compared to In (p<0.05). Restorations performed with BCa showed less color mismatch than BSy or In (p<0.05). Conclusion Although all restorations exhibited satisfactory clinical performance after 24 months of clinical service, the clinical behavior of class I and II restorations’ improved when performed with a bulk-fill composite in capsules, mainly when associated with a universal adhesive applied with SEE.

RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da inclusão de polpa cítrica na silagem de milho sobre a composição química e parâmetros de fermentação. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos foram: Silagem de milho sem polpa cítrica (0%); silagem de milho com 10% 39 de polpa cítrica; silagem de milho com 20% de polpa cítrica; silagem de milho com 30% de polpa cítrica; silagem de milho com 40% de polpa cítrica e silagem de milho com 50% de polpa cítrica. O pH diminuiu linearmente com à inclusão de polpa cítrica, gerando valores distantes do considerado adequado (3,8 a 4,2). Por outro lado, é possível inferior que nem todos os parâmetros fermentativos foram comprometidos, uma vez que, com a inclusão de 33% de polpa cítrica, é possível estimar 30,82 g/kg total N. Com a utilização 45 de 49% de polpa cítrica, é possível obter 95,16 g/kg de proteína bruta. De 21% a 22% de polpa cítrica, foi obtido 549,89 g/kg de fibra em detergente neutro e 678,11 g/kg de nutrientes digestíveis totais. A inclusão de até 30% de polpa cítrica melhorará significativamente a composição química da silagem de milho, devido à redução nos valores de carboidrato estrutural e aumentos nos nutrientes digestíveis totais e proteína.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of including citrus pulp in maize silage on chemical composition and fermentation parameters. The experimental design was fully randomized with four replicates. Maize silage consisting of 0–50% citrus pulp was produced and analyzed. The pH linearly decreased with the increased inclusion of citrus pulp (3.49 at 50% citrus pulp), which is far below what is considered adequate (3.8–4.2). However, not all fermentation parameters were compromised. At 33% citrus pulp, we estimated 30.82 g/kg total nitrogen. At 49% citrus pulp, we estimated 95.16 g/kg of crude protein. At 21% and 22% citrus pulp, we estimated 549.89 g/kg of neutral detergent fiber and 678.11 g/kg of total digestible nutrients, respectively. Therefore, we conclude that the inclusion of up to 30% citrus pulp improves the complete chemical composition of maize silage owing to the reduction in structural carbohydrate values and increases in total digestible nutrient and protein content.

Abstract Several phytogeographic regions (Cerrado, Pantanal, Atlantic Forest, Gran Chaco, and Chiquitano Dry Forests) converge in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, and influence regional biodiversity. Despite a list of birds in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul being published by Nunes et al. (2017), it is necessary to update and critically review avifauna records. In this study, we gathered the results of several records obtained from species lists and online data platforms of the 336 sites in this state over the last decades and grouped them into Main (Primary and Secondary) and Tertiary Lists. The avifauna of Mato Grosso do Sul is composed of 678 species, of which 643 (95%) have records proving their occurrence (Primary List), whereas 34 still lack documentation (Secondary List). The number of related species for Mato Grosso do Sul represents 34% of the Brazilian avifauna. Some species stand out for their unique occurrence in Mato Grosso do Sul, such as Melanerpes cactorum, Celeus lugubris, Phaethornis subochraceus, and Cantorchilus guarayanus, reflecting the influence of different phytogeographic regions of the Chaco and Chiquitano Dry Forests. Migrants represent 20% of the bird community occurring in the state, of which 93 species correspond to migrants from various regions of South America (south and west) and 40 to boreal migrants. Thirty-three species perform nomadic movements across the Pantanal Plain and other regions of the state. Thirty-one species are included in some conservation-threatened categories of global and/or national endangered species lists. Other 30 species are included in the near-threatened category at the global level and 23 at the national level. In addition, species typical of dry forests (in Serra da Bodoquena and Maciço do Urucum) and those from the Atlantic Forest in the south of the state deserve attention due to their restricted distribution and the high anthropogenic pressure on their habitat.

BACKGROUND In Brazil, the yellow fever virus (YFV) is maintained in a sylvatic cycle involving wild mosquitoes and non-human primates (NHPs). The virus is endemic to the Amazon region; however, waves of epidemic expansion reaching other Brazilian states sporadically occur, eventually causing spillovers to humans. OBJECTIVES To report a surveillance effort that led to the first confirmation of YFV in NHPs in the state of Minas Gerais (MG), Southeast region, in 2021. METHODS A surveillance network was created, encompassing the technology of smartphone applications and coordinated actions of several research institutions and health services to monitor and investigate NHP epizootics. FINDINGS When alerts were spread through the network, samples from NHPs were collected and YFV infection confirmed by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and genome sequencing at an interval of only 10 days. Near-complete genomes were generated using the Nanopore MinION sequencer. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that viral genomes were related to the South American genotype I, clustering with a genome detected in the Amazon region (state of Pará) in 2017, named YFVPA/MG sub-lineage. Fast YFV confirmation potentialised vaccination campaigns. MAIN CONCLUSIONS A new YFV introduction was detected in MG 6 years after the beginning of the major outbreak reported in the state (2015-2018). The YFV strain was not related to the sub-lineages previously reported in MG. No human cases have been reported, suggesting the importance of coordinated surveillance of NHPs using available technologies and supporting laboratories to ensure a quick response and implementation of contingency measures to avoid YFV spillover to humans.

Abstract Carioca grains are the most cultivated commercial group of common bean and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. phaseoli (Fop) is an important disease under field conditions. Genetic resistance is the most effective control strategy. Thus, our objective was to study the inheritance of Fop resistance in the carioca grain type common bean. Lines CNFC 11965 (S) and CVIII 8511 (R) were crossed to obtain F1 and F2 generations and backcrosses, inoculated with the isolate FOP UFV 01, and severity grades used to estimate genetic parameters. Segregation of resistant and susceptible plants in the F2 generations and backcrosses resulted in dominant monogenic inheritance of Fop resistance. The high values of heritability emphasized the probability of success in the selection processes because environmental factors were not significant. The carioca grain line CVIII 8511 is promising, and its Fop resistance gene can be transferred to commercial cultivars of this group using the backcross method.

Abstract We present this manuscript as a methodological approach and general guidelines for geochemical mapping and background/baseline projects for environmental assessment in tropical areas. A case study was carried out in the Itacaiúnas River watershed (IRW), Eastern Amazon, to fill in a gap in knowledge on the distribution of chemical elements, particularly those potentially toxic, in the near-surface environment of the area. The high-impact results of this research project revealed the need for similar scientific investigation across the globe with the implementation of a systematic methodology. The study shows, for example, the importance of well-planned field activities, multi-medium sampling, analytical methods, laboratory procedures, database construction, and general aspects of data processing and statistical treatment. The importance of this contribution is that it can be used as a reference in support of geospatial analysis in research within the scope of geochemical mapping and background-baseline projects. The database is accessible through a web-based geographic information system front-end; a Geochemical Atlas of the IRW will be available as soon as possible.

Resumo Sequoia sempervirens (sequoia) é uma espécie conhecida pela qualidade superior de sua madeira, sendo a produção de mudas por miniestaquia uma alternativa viável. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar a posição de coleta, presença ou ausência de folhas aciculares em miniestacas e a produção de mudas cultivadas em diferentes substratos e utilização de AIB. Foram utilizadas miniestacas de diferentes clones, oriundas de minijardim clonal. Para o padrão de miniestacas utilizou-se a porção lignificada, com média lignificação e pouca lignificação, na presença ou ausência de folhas aciculares, avaliando-se um clone. Em relação aos substratos, observou-se o comportamento de três clones e quatro substratos de marcas comerciais. Para o emprego de regulador de crescimento utilizou-se um clone e diferentes concentrações de AIB (0,0 a 5000 mg L-1). As miniestacas foram colocadas para enraizar em estufim e avaliadas aos 90 dias. Todos os experimentos foram instalados em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com posterior avaliação da porcentagem de sobrevivência; porcentagem de miniestacas com calos; porcentagem de miniestacas enraizadas e número de raízes emitidas por miniestaca enraizada. Miniestacas pouco lignificadas (ápice) com folhas aciculares apresentaram os melhores resultados para sobrevivência (96%) e enraizamento (94%); miniestacas muito lignificadas sem folhas aciculares obtiveram baixo enraizamento (10%). Houve considerável variação de enraizamento entre os substratos (66 a 100%) e o número de raízes foi mais influenciado pelo clone utilizado. Os melhores resultados foram observados naqueles com componentes mais orgânicos. O emprego de AIB na miniestaquia não foi significativo para nenhuma das variáveis analisadas. Miniestacas coletadas em porções apicais e com presença de folhas aciculares mostraram-se mais indicadas para trabalhos com a espécie. Para a seleção do melhor substrato deve-se observar o efeito clonal, priorizando-se substratos com composição mais orgânica. A utilização de AIB não influenciou positivamente o enraizamento de miniestacas, não sendo recomendado o seu uso.

Abstract Sequoia sempervirens (sequoia) is a species known for the superior quality of its wood, making plants production by minicuttings a viable alternative. The objective of the work was to evaluate the position of collection, presence or absence of acicular leaves in minicuttings and production of plants grown on different substrates and use of IBA. Minicuttings from different clones, from a clonal minigarden, were used. For the minicuttings pattern, use a lignified portion, with medium lignification and little lignification, in the presence or absence of acicular leaves, available if a clone. Regarding substrates, the behavior of three clones and four substrates of commercial brands. For the growth regulator, was used a clone and different concentrations of IBA (0.0 to 5000 mg L-1). Minicuttings were placed to root in mini-tunnel and evaluated at 90 days. All experiments were installed in completely randomized design, with subsequent assessment of the percentage of survival; percentage of minicuttings with calluses; percentage of rooted minicuttings and number of roots emitted by rooted minicuttings. Little lignified minicuttings (apex) with acicular leaves, showed the best results for survival (96%) and rooting (94%); very lignified minicuttings without acicular leaves obtained low rooting (10%). There was considerable variation in rooting between substrates (66 to 100%) and the number of roots was more influenced by the clone used. The best results were observed in those with more organic components. The use of IBA in the minicutting was not significant for any of the variables analyzed. Minicuttings collected in apical portions and with the presence of acicular leaves are more suitable for work with a species. To select the best substrate, must be observe the clonal effect, prioritizing substrates with a more organic composition. The use of IBA did not positively influence or reduce minicuttings, it was not recommended or its use.

Resumo Objetivo: analisar características, incidência e fatores associados aos eventos adversos graves (EAGs) pós-vacinação contra febre amarela durante surto da doença no Brasil (2016-2017). Métodos: estudo de caso-controle, com dados do Sistema de Informações do Programa Nacional de Imunizações (SI-PNI); foram considerados casos os EAGs, e controles os eventos adversos não graves (EANGs). Resultados: foram analisados 135 casos de EAG e 1.058 controles; dos 135 EAGs, 79 (58,5%) eram homens, e a mediana de idade dos casos, 28 anos (intervalo interquartílico: 9-49); a incidência de EAG em janeiro de 2017 chegou a 1,3 caso por 100 mil doses aplicadas; houve associação estatística com o sexo masculino (odds ratio [OR]=1,73; IC95% 1,20;2,48), ser primovacinado (OR=1,65; IC95% 1,01;2,71), e ter idade ≥60 anos, tomando-se por referência os menores de 5 anos (OR=4,4; p-valor <0,02). Conclusão: EAG pela vacina da febre amarela apresentou maior chance de ocorrer em homens, idosos e primovacinados.

Abstract Objective: to analyze characteristics, incidence and factors associated with serious adverse events (SAEs) following yellow fever vaccination during an outbreak of the disease in Brazil (2016-2017). Methods: this was a case-control study using data from the National Immunization Program Information System (SI-PNI); SAE were considered to be cases, and non-serious adverse events (NSAE) were considered to be controls. Results: we analyzed 135 SAE cases and 1,058 controls; of the 135 SAE, 79 (58.5%) were males and median age was 28 years [09-49]; incidence in January 2017 reached 1.3 case per 100,000 vaccine doses administered; there was statistical association with males (Odds Ratio [OR]=1.73 - 95%CI 1.20;2.48), primary vaccination (OR=1.65 - 95%CI 1.01;2.71), and being 60 years of age or older taking as reference those aged under 5 (OR=4.4; p-value <0.02). Conclusion: SAE owing to yellow fever vaccine showed a greater chance of occurring in men, the elderly and primary vaccination.

Resumen Objetivo: analizar características, incidencia y factores asociados a eventos adversos graves (EAG) posvacunación contra la fiebre amarilla durante brote de la enfermedad en Brasil (2016-2017). Métodos: estudio de caso-control, con datos del Sistema de Informaciones del Programa Nacional de Inmunizaciones (SI-PNI); se consideraron casos los EAG, y controles los eventos adversos no graves (EANG). Resultados: se analizaron 135 casos de EAG y 1.058 controles; de los 135 EAG, 79 (58,5%) eran hombres, con edad promedio de 28 años [rango intercuartílico: 9-49]; la incidência en enero de 2017 llegó a 1,3 caso por 100 mil dosis aplicadas; ocurrió asociación estadística con el sexo masculino (odds ratio [OR]=1,73 - IC95% 1,20;2,48), ser primovacunado (OR=1,65 - IC95% 1,01;2,71), y tener ≥60 años de edad tomando como referencia a los menores de 5 años (OR=4,4; p-valor <0,02). Conclusión: EAG por la vacuna de la fiebre amarilla presentó mayor probabilidad de ocurrir en hombres, ancianos y primovacunados.

Abstract The objective with this study was to analyze the body measurements of Girolando cattle, as well as measurements extracted from their images, to generate a model to understand which measures further explain the cattle body weight. Therefore, the experiment physically measured 34 Girolando cattle (two males and 32 females), for the following traits: heart girth (HGP), circumference of the abdomen, body length, occipito-ischial length, wither height, and hip height. In addition, images of the dorsum and the body lateral area of these animals allowed measurements of hip width (HWI), body length, tail distance to the neck, dorsum area (DAI), dorsum perimeter, wither height, hip height, body lateral area, perimeter of the lateral area, and rib height. The measurements extracted from the images were subjected to the stepwise regression method and regression-based machine learning algorithms. The HGp was the physical measure with stronger positive correlation with respect to body weight. In the stepwise method, the final model generated R² of 0.70 and RMSE of 42.52 kg and the equation: WEIGHT ( kg ) = 6.15421 * HW I ( cm ) + 0.01929 * DA I ( cm 2 ) + 70.8388. The linear regression and SVM algorithms obtained the best results, followed by discretization regression with random forests. The set of rules presented in this study can be recommended for estimating body weight in Girolando cattle, at a correlation coefficient of 0.71, by measurements of hip width and dorsum area, both extracted from cattle images.

Resumo Deep Water Running (DWR) no sistema de treinamento intervalado (STI) é um método de treinamento e reabilitação física indicado para obesos. O objetivo foi investigar a influência do DWR-STI na composição corporal e capacidade funcional em adultos jovens com obesidade. Trata-se de um estudo piloto de ensaio clínico não controlado de amostragem não probabilística. Foram feitas medida da circunferência abdominal, avaliação das dobras cutâneas, análise da composição corporal e aplicação do teste de caminhada de seis minutos (TC6). Houve aumento na distância percorrida avaliada pelo TC6 de 598,08 ± 63,79 metros para 645,46 ± 81,93 metros após seis semanas de intervenção. DWR-STI contribuiu para a melhoria na capacidade funcional em universitários obesos.

Abstract Deep Water Running (DWR) in the interval training system (ITS) is a method of training and physical rehabilitation indicated for obese patients. The objective was to investigate the influence of DWR-ITS on body composition and functional capacity in young adults with obesity. This is a pilot study of uncontrolled clinical trial of non-probabilistic sampling. Measurement of abdominal circumference, evaluation of skinfolds, analysis of body composition and application of the six-minute walk test (6MWT) were performed. There was an increase in the distance walked evaluated by the 6MWT from 598,08 ± 63,79 meters to 645,46 ± 81,93 meters after six weeks of intervention. DWR-ITS contributed to the improvement in functional capacity in obese university students.

Resumen Deep Water Running (DWR) en el sistema de entrenamiento a intervalos (SEI) es un método de entrenamiento y rehabilitación física indicada para personas obesas. El objetivo fue investigar la influencia del SEI DWR en la composición corporal y capacidad funcional de adultos jóvenes con obesidad. Se trata de un estudio piloto de ensayo clínico no controlado de muestreo no probabilístico. Se midió el perímetro abdominal, se evaluaron los pliegues cutáneos, se analizó la composición corporal y la aplicación de la prueba de caminata de 6 minutos (PC6). Se observó un aumento en la distancia recorrida evaluada por la PC6 de 598,08 ± 63,79 m a 645,46 ± 81,93 m después de 6 semanas de intervención. El SEI DWR contribuyó a la mejora de la capacidad funcional de universitarios obesos.

Resumo Sinopse taxonômica do gênero Senna (Leguminosae, Caesalpinioideae, Cassieae) na Região Centro-Oeste do Brasil. A análise de coleções herborizadas, literatura especializada e trabalhos de campo revelaram a ocorrência de 75 táxons correspondentes a 36 espécies, quatro subespécies e 35 variedades para o gênero Senna na Região Centro-Oeste. Os estados do Mato Grosso e Goiás foram os mais representativos com 26 e 25 espécies, respectivamente, seguidos pelo Mato Grosso do Sul e Distrito Federal com 23 e 18 espécies cada. Doze espécies foram comuns aos quatro estados da região estudada, cinco (S. corifolia, S. neglecta, S. pentagonia, S. rostrata e S. uniflora) foram encontradas apenas em Goiás, cinco (S. macrophylla, S. latifolia, S. paraensis, S. quinquangulata e S. tapajosensis) no Mato Grosso, duas (S. hilariana, S. paradictyon) no Mato Grosso do Sul, e S. septemtrionalis no Distrito Federal. São apresentadas chaves, ilustrações com caracteres diagnósticos dos táxons e comentários sobre a distribuição geográfica deles.

Abstract Taxonomic synopsis of the genus Senna (Leguminosae, Caesalpinioideae, Cassieae) in Central-West Region of Brazil. Analyses of herbaria material, specialized literature, and fieldwork revealed the occurrence of 75 taxa corresponding to 36 species, four subspecies and 32 varieties of the genus Senna in the Midwest Region. Mato Grosso and Goiás with 26 and 25 species respectively were the states where the genus was more representative followed by Mato Grosso do Sul and Distrito Federal with 23 and 18 species each. Twelve species were common to the four states in the studied region, five (S. corifolia, S. neglecta, S. pentagonia, S. rostrata e S. uniflora) were found only in Goiás, five (S. macrophylla, S. latifolia, S. paraensis, S. quinquangulata e S. tapajosensis) in Mato Grosso, two (S. hilariana, S. paradictyon) and S. septemtrionalis in the Federal District. Identification keys, illustrations with diagnostic characters of taxa and comments on the geographical distribution of them are presented.

RESUMO Objetivo: analisar a motivação de estudantes de Graduação em Enfermagem de uma Universidade Pública, por meio da Escala de Motivação Acadêmica. Método: trata-se de um estudo descritivo, transversal com abordagem quantitativa. A amostra foi censitária com estudantes de Enfermagem de uma Universidade Pública, localizada no estado de Pernambuco. Resultados: o perfil do estudante de Enfermagem de uma Universidade Pública compreende os seguintes aspectos: maioria do sexo feminino, com idade de 20 a 30 anos, solteiro, sem filhos, não trabalha, mora na região metropolitana, com a família nuclear e possui uma renda familiar menor que três salários mínimos. A maior média de escore na motivação intrínseca foi a Motivação Intrínseca para Realização, e a na motivação extrínseca foi a Motivação Intrínseca de Controle Externo. Os maiores escores de motivações intrínsecas e extrínsecas dos estudantes foram encontrados no terceiro período, sendo que, o quarto período obteve os menores escores de motivações intrínsecas e extrínsecas. Conclusão: a motivação dos estudantes de uma Universidade Pública mostrou-se com escores altos, principalmente as motivações intrínsecas que despertam a autonomia do estudante.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the motivation of nursing undergraduate students at a public university by means of the Academic Motivation Scale. Method: a descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. The sample included nursing students from a public university located in the state of Pernambuco. Results: the profile of the nursing students of the public university included the following aspects: a female majority, aged between 20 and 30 years of age, single, does not have children, does not work, lives in the metropolitan area, has a nuclear family and has a family monthly income less than R$2,364. The highest mean score in intrinsic motivation was the Intrinsic Motivation for Realization, and the extrinsic motivation was the Intrinsic Motivation of External Control. The highest intrinsic and extrinsic motivation scores of the students were found in the third period, and the fourth period obtained the lowest scores of intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. Conclusion: the students of this public university had high scores of motivation, these high scores were mainly evident in the intrinsic motivations that awaken the student's autonomy.

RESUMEN Objetivo: analizar la motivación de los estudiantes de la Graduación en Enfermería de una Universidad Pública por medio de la Escala de Motivación Académica. Método: se trata de un estudio descriptivo, transversal y con abordaje cuantitativo. La muestra fue censitaria y con estudiantes de Enfermería de una Universidad Pública localizada en el estado de Pernambuco. Resultados: el perfil del estudiante de Enfermería de una Universidad Pública comprende los siguientes aspectos: la mayoría es del sexo femenino y con edades de 20 a 30 años, solteros, sin hijos, no trabajan, viven en la región metropolitana en una familia nuclear y poseen una renta familiar menor que tres salarios mínimos. El mayor promedio de puntuación en la motivación intrínseca fue la Motivación Intrínseca para la Realización; y en la motivación extrínseca fue la Motivación Intrínseca del Control Externo. Las mayores puntuaciones de motivaciones intrínsecas y extrínsecas de los estudiantes fueron encontradas en el tercer período, siendo que el cuarto período obtuvo las menores puntuaciones de motivaciones intrínsecas y extrínsecas. Conclusión: la motivación de los estudiantes de una Universidad Pública demostró puntuaciones altas, principalmente, las motivaciones intrínsecas que despiertan la autonomía del estudiante.
