Abstract Objectives: to estimate the prevalence of perceived stress and verify the associated factors in pregnant women assisted by Family Health teams in Montes Claros, Minas Gerais - Brazil. Methods: epidemiological, cross-sectional, and analytical study, nested in a population-based cohort. Sociodemographic and obstetric characteristics and physical and mental health conditions were assessed. The stress level was estimated by the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-14). Descriptive and bivariate analyses were conducted, followed by the Poisson Regression model with robust variance. Results: a total of 1,279 pregnant women participated. The prevalence of high-stress levels was 23.5% (CI95%=20.8%-26.2%). The outcome was more prevalent among pregnant women aged above 35 years (PR=1.38; CI95%=1.09-1.74) and less than or equal to 19 (PR=1.41; CI95%=1.13-1.77); without a partner (PR=1.33; CI95%=1.09-1.62); with low social support (PR=1.42; CI95%=1.18-1.70); multiparous (PR=1.30; CI95%=1.02-1.66); with current unplanned pregnancy (PR=1.23; CI95%=1.00-1.52); urinary tract infection (PR=1.35; CI95%=1.12-1.62); high level of anxiety symptoms (PR=1.42; CI95%=1.18-1.71); severe (PR=4.74; CI95%=3.60-6.26) and moderate (PR=3.19; CI95%=2.31-4.39) symptoms of depression; and neurological complaints (PR=1.77; CI95%=1.27-2.47). Conclusions: there was a significant prevalence of high perceived stress among pregnant women, an outcome associated with sociodemographic, clinical, obstetric, and emotional factors, which demonstrates the need for comprehensive care of pregnant women’s health.

Resumo Objetivos: estimar a prevalência de estresse percebido e verificar os fatores associados em gestantes assistidas por equipes da Saúde da Família de Montes Claros, Minas Gerais – Brasil. Métodos: estudo epidemiológico, transversal e analítico, aninhado a uma coorte de base populacional. Avaliaram-se características sociodemográficas, obstétricas, condições de saúde física e mental. O nível de estresse foi estimado pela Escala de Estresse Percebido (Perceveid Stress Scale, PSS-14). Foram conduzidas análise descritiva e bivariada, seguidas do modelo de Regressão de Poisson com variância robusta. Resultados: participaram 1.279 gestantes. A prevalência do nível de estresse elevado foi de 23,5% (IC95%=20,8%-26,2%). O desfecho foi mais prevalente entre gestantes com idade acima dos 35 anos (RP=1,38; IC95%=1,09-1,74) e menor ou igual a 19 (RP=1,41; IC95%=1,13-1,77); sem companheiro(a) (RP=1,33; IC95%=1,09-1,62); com baixo apoio social (RP=1,42; IC95%=1,18-1,70); multíparas (RP=1,30; IC95%=1,02-1,66); com gravidez atual não planejada (RP=1,23; IC95%=1,00-1,52); infecção urinária (RP=1,35; IC95%=1,12-1,62); alto nível de sintomas de ansiedade (RP=1,42; IC95%=1,18-1,71); sintomas graves (RP=4,74; IC95%=3,60-6,26) e moderados (RP=3,19; IC95%=2,31-4,39) de depressão; e queixas neurológicas (RP=1,77; IC95%=1,27-2,47). Conclusões: houve expressiva prevalência de elevado estresse percebido entre gestantes, desfecho associado a fatores sociodemográficos, clínicos, obstétricos e condições emocionais, o que demonstra a necessidade de atenção integral à saúde da gestante.

Abstract Objective: A cross-sectional study that estimated the prevalence of Internet Addiction and associated factors among High School and College students in Montes Claros - Minas Gerais, Brazil. Methods: Internet Addiction was evaluated through the Internet Addiction Test, and demographic, socioeconomic, and lifestyle factors, as well as internet usage profile characteristics, were examined. Descriptive analysis and the Poisson regression model were applied. Results: Of the 2,519 participants, 52.3% were considered with Internet Addiction Problems. In High School, the following factors were identified: are women and girls, age over >16, class C, alcohol consumption, impaired sleep, frequent use of social networks, and time spent connected. In Higher Education, the following factors: are women and girls, age over >23, paid activity, class C and D/E, alcohol consumption, impaired sleep, imbalanced diet, frequent use of social networks, and time spent connected. Conclusion: There was an expressive prevalence of Internet Addiction Problems, an outcome associated with the demographic, socioeconomic, lifestyle, and internet use characteristics.

Resumo Objetivo: Estudo transversal que estimou prevalência de Adicção em Internet e fatores associados entre estudantes do Ensino Médio e Superior em Montes Claros - Minas Gerais, Brasil. Métodos: A Adicção em Internet foi avaliada pelo Internet Addiction Test e se investigaram fatores demográficos, socioeconômicos, estilo de vida e perfil de uso de internet. Foram realizadas análises descritivas e modelo de regressão de Poisson. Resultados: Dos 2.519 participantes, 52,3% apresentaram problemas de Adicção em Internet. No grupo de estudantes de Ensino Médio examinado, identificaram-se os seguintes fatores: sexo feminino, idade >16, classe C, consumo de álcool, sono prejudicado, uso frequente das redes sociais e tempo de conexão. No Ensino Superior, foram constatados: sexo feminino, idade >23, atividade remunerada, classe C e D/E, consumo de álcool, sono prejudicado, alimentação não balanceada, uso frequente das redes sociais e tempo de conexão. Conclusão: Houve expressiva prevalência de Problemas com Adicção em Internet, desfecho associado a características demográficas, socioeconômicas, ao estilo de vida e ao uso da internet.

Resumo A Escala de Apego Materno-Fetal tem sido amplamente aplicada em pesquisas sobre a temática. Desconhecem-se investigações sobre a validade de uma versão reduzida desse instrumento no Brasil. Este estudo teve por objetivo propor uma versão abreviada da Escala de Apego Materno-Fetal e examinar suas evidências de validade e confiabilidade. Trata-se de um estudo metodológico, realizado com uma amostra de 937 gestantes no âmbito da Atenção Primária à Saúde de Montes Claros, Minas Gerais - Brasil. Obteve-se uma versão trifatorial com 15 itens, que apresentou índices satisfatórios de ajuste. As validades convergente e discriminante foram próximas do recomendado. A escala diferenciou os escores de apego segundo diferentes características da amostra. A consistência interna (α de Cronbach = 0,878) e a confiabilidade composta (> 0,70) foram apropriadas. A versão brasileira abreviada da Escala de Apego Materno-Fetal apresentou atributos psicométricos satisfatórios para aplicação a gestantes na Atenção Primária à Saúde.

Abstract The Maternal-Fetal Attachment Scale has been widely applied in research on the subject. There are no known studies that have validated a shortened version of this instrument in Brazil. This study aimed to propose a shortened version of the Maternal-Fetal Attachment Scale and examine its evidence of validity and reliability. This methodological study was carried out on a sample of 937 pregnant women in the Primary Health Care of Montes Claros, Minas Gerais - Brazil. Construct validity and reliability were measured. A trifactor version with 15 items was obtained, which presented satisfactory adjustment indexes. Convergent and discriminant validities were close to the recommended ones. The scale differentiated attachment scores according to different sample characteristics. Internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = 0.878) and composite reliability (> 0.70) were appropriate. The abbreviated Brazilian version of the Maternal-Fetal Attachment Scale presented satisfactory psychometric attributes for application to pregnant women in Primary Health Care.

Resumen La Maternal Fetal Attachment Scale es ampliamente aplicada en estudios sobre la temática. No existen investigaciones sobre la validez de una versión corta de este instrumento en Brasil. Se pretende proponer una versión corta de esta escala y examinar su validez y fiabilidad. Estudio metodológico, realizado en la Atención Primaria de Salud de Montes Claros, Minas Gerais - Brasil en una muestra de 937 mujeres embarazadas. Se midieron la validez y la fiabilidad del constructo. Se obtuvo una versión de tres factores, con 15 ítems, e índices de ajuste satisfactorios. La validez convergente y discriminante se acercó a lo recomendado. La escala diferenció las puntuaciones de vinculación según las distintas características de la muestra. La consistencia interna (α de Cronbach = 0,878) y la fiabilidad compuesta (> 0,70) fueron adecuadas. La versión corta de Maternal Fetal Attachment Scale para Brasil presentó atributos psicométricos satisfactorios para aplicarse a gestantes en Atención Primaria de Salud.

ABSTRACT The chronic hepatitis C (CHC) treatment is currently based on the use of direct-acting antivirals (DAAs), and patients infected with hepatitis C virus genotype 3 (GT3) have emerged as a more difficult-to-cure population. The NS5A inhibitor daclatasvir (DCV) and sofosbuvir (SOF), an NS5B viral polymerase inhibitor, are among the drugs that compose more effective and safer treatment regimens. The virus genetic variability is related to resistance-associated substitutions (RASs) that adversely impact DAAs effectiveness. The aims of this study were to analyze the association of NS5A and NS5B RASs and other clinical factors with DAAs regimens effectiveness in patients with GT3 CHC infection. This was a prospective cohort study performed in a Brazilian university hospital. Individuals older than 18 years with GT3 CHC treated with SOF + DCV ± ribavirin (RBV) or SOF + peginterferon (PEG) + RBV were included. Blood samples were collected at baseline and post-treatment. A total of 121 patients were included. Sustained virological response rates were 87.6% for the SOF + DCV ± RBV group and 80.0% for the SOF + PEG + RBV arm. Cirrhosis, prior treatment with interferon/PEG + RBV, and baseline NS5A RAS were associated with higher risk of treatment failure. The NS5A analysis suggested that A30K, Y93H, and RAS at site 62 were related to failure. Interestingly, a likely compensatory effect was shown between A30K and A62T. Emergence of Y93H was always associated with RAS at position 62. The RASs dynamics comprehension is an important tool to indicate more effective treatment for GT3 patients.

RESUMO Objetivo Estimar a prevalência e analisar os fatores associados à ideação suicida em estudantes de ensino médio e superior. Métodos Estudo epidemiológico, transversal, analítico, realizado em Montes Claros, MG, Brasil. Para a coleta de dados, aplicou-se um questionário contendo questões relativas às características sociodemográficas, escolares, ocupacionais e de estilo de vida, e às condições socioafetivas e psíquicas. Investigou-se a ideação suicida por meio de um item do Inventário de Depressão de Beck. Na análise de dados, efetuou-se estatística descritiva das variáveis e a Regressão Logística hierarquizada para avaliar os fatores associados à ideação suicida. Resultados Constatou-se prevalência de ideação suicida de 11,6% entre estudantes do ensino médio e de 9,8% no ensino superior. No ensino médio, os fatores associados foram: sexo feminino (RO: 2,14; IC 95%: 1,39-3,27), uso de drogas (RO: 3,25; IC 95%: 1,40-7,52), consumo de álcool (RO: 2,50; IC 95%: 1,54-4,04), sentimento de raiva e hostilidade (RO: 1,73; IC 95%: 1,05-2,87) e síndrome de burnout (RO: 2,27; IC 95%: 1,31-3,95). No ensino superior, identificaram-se os fatores: ausência de companheiro (RO: 2,19; IC 95%: 1,68-4,14), turno de estudo noturno (RO: 0,51; IC 95%: 0,36-0,72), consumo de tabaco (RO: 1,74; IC 95%: 1,05-2,91), ausência de pensamento otimista (RO: 2,66; IC 95%: 1,75-4,03), adicção em internet (RO: 1,64; IC 95%: 1,08-2,50) e alto hábito de checagem corporal (RO: 1,69; IC 95%: 1,15-2,50). Sono prejudicado (RO: 1,62; IC 95%: 1,02-2,59; RO: 1,62; IC 95%: 1,05-2,51), interação dialogada prejudicada (RO: 3,04; IC 95%: 1,93-4,82; RO: 2,66; IC 95%: 1,81-3,92), sentimento de desapontamento e tensão (RO: 4,80; IC 95%: 2,97-7,77; RO: 4,02; IC 95%: 2,69-6,02) foram fatores associados nos dois grupos, respectivamente. Conclusão Houve importante prevalência de ideação suicida, associada a fatores sociodemográficos, do estilo de vida, socioafetivos e psíquicos.

ABSTRACT Objective To estimate the prevalence and analyze the factors associated with suicidal ideation in high school and college students. Methods Epidemiological, transversal, analytical study, carried out in Montes Claros, MG, Brazil. For data collection, a questionnaire was applied, containing questions related to sociodemographic, school, occupational, lifestyle, socio-affective and psychological conditions. Suicidal ideation was investigated using an item in the Beck Depression Inventory. In the data analysis, descriptive statistics of the variables and hierarchical Logistic Regression were used to evaluate the factors associated with suicidal ideation. Results There was a prevalence of suicidal ideation of 11.6% among high school students and 9.8% in higher education. In high school, the associated factors were: female gender (OR: 2.14; 95% CI: 1.39-3.27), drug use (OR: 3.25; 95% CI: 1.40-7.52), alcohol consumption (OR: 2.50; 95% CI: 1.54-4.04), feeling of anger and hostility (OR: 1.73; 95% CI: 1.05-2.87), burnout syndrome (OR: 2.27; 95% CI: 1.31-3.95). In higher education, the following factors were identified: absence of a partner (OR: 2.19; 95% CI: 1.68-4.14), night shift (OR: 0.51; 95% CI: 0.36-0.72), tobacco consumption (OR: 1.74; 95% CI: 1.05-2.91), absence of optimistic thinking (OR: 2.66; 95% CI: 1.75-4,03), internet addiction (OR: 1.64; 95% CI: 1.08-2.50), high body check habit (OR: 1.69; 95% CI: 1.15-2.50). Impaired sleep (OR: 1.62; 95% CI: 1.02-2.59; OR: 1.62; 95% CI: 1.05-2.51), impaired dialog interaction (OR: 3.04; 95% CI: 1.93-4.82; OR: 2.66; 95% CI: 1.81-3.92), feeling of disappointment and tension (OR: 4.80; 95% CI: 2.97-7.77; OR: 4.02; 95% CI: 2.69-6.02) were associated factors in both groups, respectively. Conclusion There was an important prevalence of suicidal ideation, associated with sociodemographic, lifestyle, socio-affective and psychic factors.

Resumo Objetivo Comparar a ultrassonografia convencional das mamas (US) com a ultrassonografia automatizada das mamas (ABUS) no rastreio do câncer. Métodos Realizamos um estudo transversal com pacientes com mamas mamograficamente densas, sendo avaliadas pela US e pela ABUS. A US foi realizada por radiologistas e a ABUS por técnicos de mamografia e analisada por radiologistas especializados em mama. A classificação Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BIRADS) do exame e das lesões o tempo de leitura e de aquisição foram avaliados. A análise estatística foi realizada através de medidas de tendência central, dispersão e frequências, teste t de Student e regressão logística univariada, através do odds ratio, com intervalo de confiança de 95%, e com p<0,05 sendo considerado estatisticamente significante. Resultados Foram avaliadas 440 pacientes. Em relação às lesões, a US detectou 15 (7,7%) BI-RADS 2, 175 (89,3%) BI-RADS 3 e 6 (3%) BI-RADS 4, das quais 3 foram confirmadas, por biópsia, como carcinomas ductais invasivos e 3 falso-positivos. A ABUS identificou 12 (12,9%) BI-RADS 2, 75 (80,7%) BI-RADS 3 e 6 (6,4%) BI-RADS 4, incluindo 3 lesões detectadas pela US e confirmadas como carcinomas ductais invasivos, além de 1 carcinoma lobular invasivo e 2 lesões de alto risco não detectadas pela US. O tempo de leitura dos exames da ABUS foi estatisticamente inferior ao tempo do radiologista para realizar a US (p<0,001). A concordância foi de 80,9%. Um total de 219 lesões foram detectadas, das quais 70 por ambos os métodos, 126 observadas apenas pela US (84,9% não eram lesões suspeitas no ABUS) e 23 apenas pela ABUS. Conclusão Comparado à US, a ABUS permitiu adequado estudo complementar no rastreio do câncer de mamas heterogeneamente densas e extremamente densas.

Abstract Objective To compare hand-held breast ultrasound (HHBUS) and automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) as screening tool for cancer. Methods A cross-sectional study in patients with mammographically dense breasts was conducted, and both HHBUS and ABUS were performed. Hand-held breast ultrasound was acquired by radiologists and ABUS by mammography technicians and analyzed by breast radiologists. We evaluated the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) classification of the exam and of the lesion, as well as the amount of time required to perform and read each exam. The statistical analysis employed was measures of central tendency and dispersion, frequencies, Student t test, and a univariate logistic regression, through the odds ratio and its respective 95% confidence interval, and with p<0.05 considered of statistical significance. Results Atotal of 440 patientswere evaluated. Regarding lesions,HHBUS detected 15 (7.7%) BI-RADS 2, 175 (89.3%) BI-RADS 3, and 6 (3%) BI-RADS 4, with 3 being confirmed by biopsy as invasive ductal carcinomas (IDCs), and 3 false-positives. Automated breast ultrasound identified 12 (12.9%) BI-RADS 2, 75 (80.7%) BI-RADS 3, and 6 (6.4%) BI-RADS 4, including 3 lesions detected by HHBUS and confirmed as IDCs, in addition to 1 invasive lobular carcinoma and 2 high-risk lesions not detected by HHBUS. The amount of time required for the radiologist to read the ABUS was statistically inferior compared with the time required to read the HHBUS (p<0.001). The overall concordance was 80.9%. A total of 219 lesions were detected, from those 70 lesions by both methods, 126 only by HHBUS (84.9% not suspicious by ABUS) and 23 only by ABUS. Conclusion Compared with HHBUS, ABUS allowed adequate sonographic study in supplemental screening for breast cancer in heterogeneously dense and extremely dense breasts.

Resumo O objetivo do estudo foi identificar as características socioeconômicas e ocupacionais e condições de saúde autorrelatadas associadas à redução da renda dos professores da educação básica do estado de Minas Gerais durante a pandemia da Covid-19. Tratou-se de um inquérito epidemiológico do tipo websurveys. Participaram do estudo 15.641 professores, com respostas obtidas de agosto a setembro de 2020. Os dados foram tratados com estatísticas descritivas, teste qui-quadrado para avaliar a associação entre as variáveis e modelo múltiplo de regressão de Poisson, com variância robusta, para estimar a magnitude das associações. Os resultados evidenciaram que a redução na renda familiar afetou 40,9% dos docentes, principalmente da zona urbana. A redução na renda familiar durante a pandemia foi mais prevalente entre os docentes que viviam com o(a) companheiro(a), possuíam vínculo precário (contratado) com a escola, com tempo de trabalho na docência até vinte anos, que trabalhavam até dez horas/semana e entre professores com hipertensão, episódios de tristeza, ansiedade e dificuldade no sono.

Abstract The aim of this study was to identify the socioeconomic and occupational characteristics and self-reported health conditions associated with the reduction in the income of basic education teachers in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a websurvey-type epidemiological survey. A total of 15,641 teachers participated in the study, the responses were obtained from August to September 2020. The data was subjected to descriptive statistics, chi-squared test to assess the association between variables and multiple Poisson regression model, with robust variance, to estimate the magnitude of the associations. The results showed that the reduction in family income affected 40.9% of teachers, mainly in the urban area. The reduction in family income during the pandemic was more prevalent among teachers who lived with their partner, who had a precarious relationship (hired) with the school, with up to twenty years of teaching experience, who worked for up to ten hours/week and among teachers with hypertension, episodes of sadness, anxiety and sleep difficulties.

Resumen El objetivo del estudio fue identificar las características socioeconómicas y ocupacionales y las condiciones de salud autonotificadas asociadas a la reducción de los ingresos de los docentes de educación básica en el estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil, durante la pandemia de Covid-19. Fue una encuesta epidemiológica del tipo websurveys. Participaron en el estudio 15.641 docentes, con respuestas obtenidas entre agosto y septiembre de 2020. Los datos fueron tratados con estadística descriptiva, prueba chi-cuadrado para evaluar la asociación entre las variables y modelo de regresión de Poisson múltiple, con varianza robusta, para estimar la magnitud de las asociaciones. Los resultados mostraron que la reducción del ingreso familiar afectó al 40,9% de los docentes, principalmente del área urbana. La reducción de los ingresos familiares durante la pandemia fue más prevalente entre los profesores que vivían con su pareja, tenían una relación precaria (contratada) con la escuela, con tiempo de trabajo en la enseñanza hasta veinte años, que trabajaban hasta diez horas/semana y entre los profesores con hipertensión, episodios de tristeza, ansiedad y dificultad para dormir.

RESUMO Objetivo Estimar a prevalência e os fatores associados ao sobrepeso/obesidade entre professores da Educação Básica. Métodos Trata-se de um estudo transversal com amostragem probabilística por conglomerado. Utilizou-se questionário com variáveis sociodemográficas, ocupacionais, psicossociais, estilo de vida e perfil de saúde. Resultados Participaram do estudo 707 professores. Verificaram-se associações com sobrepeso/obesidade nas variáveis: sexo masculino, idade >40 anos, três ou mais filhos, carga horária de trabalho, vínculo empregatício contratado/designado, consumo de gordura através da ingestão de carnes, consumo abusivo de bebidas alcoólicas, presença de episódios depressivos, problemas endócrinos, hipertensão arterial e autopercepção negativa da saúde com razão de prevalência variando entre 1,16 a 1,52 entre as variáveis associadas. Conclusão O sobrepeso/obesidade acometeu, aproximadamente, metade dos pesquisados. Há uma relação entre os fatores sociodemográficos, ocupacionais, do estilo de vida, psicossociais e de saúde e a presença de sobrepeso/obesidade em professores. Medidas devem ser implementadas sobre os fatores modificáveis, com vistas a promoção da sua qualidade de vida.

ABSTRACT Objective To estimate the prevalence of overweight/obesity and its associated factors among basic education teachers. Methods This is a cross-sectional study with probabilistic sampling by clustering. A questionnaire with socio-demographic, occupational, and psychosocial variables, as well as lifestyle, and health profiles was used. Results 707 teachers participated in the study. Associations with overweight / obesity were found for the variables: the male gender, age >40 years, three or more children, workload, contracted/designated employment relationship, fat intake through meat, abusive consumption of alcoholic beverages, presence of depressive episodes, endocrine problems, arterial hypertension, and negative self-perception of health with the prevalence ratio ranging from 1.16 to 1.52 in the associated variables. Conclusion Overweight / obesity affected approximately half of those surveyed. There is a relationship between sociodemographic, occupational, and psychosocial variables and lifestyles, on the one hand, and health factors and the presence of overweight / obesity in teachers, on the other. Measures must be implemented on modifiable factors, aiming to promote their quality of life.

RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar genótipos de abóbora de leite e jerimum caboclo para resistência ao fungo Macrophomina phaseolina (Taissi) Goid. Foram utilizados 17acessos de Cucurbita moschata Duchesne and 20 de Cucurbita máxima Duchese. Também foram utilizadas quatro testemunhas comerciais, duas para cada espécie. Em ambos os trabalhos, inoculou-se três isolados de M. phaseolina que estão mantidos na Micoteca da UFERSA: MM1531 (GenBank: MN136199), ME249 e ME250. As plantas receberam inóculo do patógeno em pedaços de palito de dente colonizado, e foram avaliadas quanto a incidência e severidade da doença. Ambas as espécies apresentaram plantas resistentes, porém com frequências variadas para os acessos. Quando consideradas as espécies, as frequências verificadas para C. Moschata foram superiores às constatadas para C. maxima. Os acessos de C. moschata ABPUN 206 F1, P114-1, P160-2, P11-2, P114-6, P114-02 e P97-1 apresentam diferentes níveis de resistência a Macrophomina phaseolina para os isolados MM1531, ME-249 e ME-250. Assim, para a seleção eficiente em programa de melhoramento para a característica, as estratégias de seleção adotadas devem considerar cada fonte de resistência isoladamente e não cada espécie.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate genotypes of Cucurbita moschata and Cucurbita maxima for resistance to the fungus Macrophomina phaseolina (Taissi) Goid. The experiment evaluated 17 accessions of Cucurbita moschata Duchesne and 20 accessions of Cucurbita maxima Duchesne preserved in the Cucurbit Germplasm Collection of the Federal Rural University of the Semi-Arid Region (UFERSA). Four commercial controls were also used, two for each species. In both studies, three isolates of M. phaseolina were inoculated, which are kept at the Fungal Culture Collection of UFERSA: MM1531 (GenBank identificatio: MM1531 (GenBank identification: MN136199), ME249 and ME250. Plants received inoculum of the pathogen in pieces of colonized toothpick and were evaluated for the incidence and severity of the disease. Both species showed resistant plants, but with varied frequencies for the accessions. Considering the species, the frequencies observed for C. moschata were higher than those observed for C. maxima. The accessions of C. moschata ABPUN 206 F1, P114-1, P160-2, P11-2, P114-6, P14-02 and P97-1 show different levels of resistance to the Macrophomina phaseolina isolates MM1531, ME-249 and ME-250.Thus, for an efficient selection in a breeding program for the characteristic, the selection strategies adopted must consider each source of resistance in isolationand not each species.

Resumo Objetivos: identificar a prevalência e os fatores associados à síndrome de burnout (SB) entre docentes da educação básica de escolas públicas de um município de médio porte. Métodos: estudo transversal analítico realizado em Minas Gerais, em 2016. Coletaram-se dados sociodemográficos e ocupacionais e aplicou-se o Cuestionário para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo para avaliar a SB. A amostra (n = 745) foi probabilística por conglomerados em único estágio. Utilizou-se análise hierarquizada com regressão de Poisson. Resultados: a prevalência geral da SB foi de 13,8% (IC95%: 11,3-16,3%), com 9,0% apresentando o Perfil 1 (SB sem níveis altos de sentimento de culpa) e 4,8% o Perfil 2 (SB grave). As dimensões mais prevalentes foram “desgaste psíquico” (39,4%) e “ilusão pelo trabalho” (19,7%). A prevalência de SB foi maior entre os docentes mais jovens (RP = 1,82), sem filhos (RP = 1,45), concursados/efetivos (RP = 1,88), insatisfeitos no trabalho (RP = 3,16), com desejo de mudar de profissão (RP = 2,94) e com falta de apoio da direção escolar (RP = 2,38). Conclusão: há urgência na criação de políticas públicas de suporte aos docentes, pois os identificados com sintomas da síndrome estão em exercício funcional, o que agrava seu quadro de saúde e, por conseguinte, compromete os diversos processos da área educacional.

Abstract Objectives: to identify the associated factors and the prevalence of burnout syndrome (BS) in primary and secondary public school teachers of a medium-sized municipality. Methods: cross-sectional analytical study conducted in Minas Gerais, Brazil, in 2016. We collected sociodemographic and occupational data, and applied the Spanish Burnout Inventory [Cuestionário para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo]. The sample (n = 745) was probabilistic by clusters in a single stage. We used Hierarchical analysis with Poisson regression. Results: the general prevalence of BS was 13.8% (95% CI: 11.3-16.3%), with 9.0% having Profile 1 (BS without high levels of feelings of guilt) and 4.8% Profile 2 (severe BS). The most prevalent dimensions were “psychological exhaustion” (39.4%) and “enthusiasm towards job” (19.7%). The BS prevalence was higher among younger teachers (PR = 1.82), without children (PR = 1.45), job stability insured as civil servant (PR = 1.88), with job dissatisfaction (PR = 3.16), with a desire to change professions (PR = 2.94) and lack of support from the school managers (PR = 2.38). Conclusion: there is an urgent need to develop public policies to support teachers, since those identified with BS symptoms are in work activity, which worsens their health condition and, therefore, undermines the educational processes.

CONTEXTO: Los síntomas depresivos pueden manifestarseen diferentes grupos de edad. Sin embargo, entre losestudiantes adolescentes, la frecuencia es alta y esteproblema puede dar lugar a varias repercusiones en el adolescente. OBJETIVO: Esta investigación pretendía determinar laprevalencia de síntomas depresivos entre los estudiantesadolescentes en un municipio del norte de Minas Gerais (MG) - Brasil. METODOLOGÍA: Se trata de un estudio epidemiológico basado enla escuela con un enfoque transversal, analítico ycuantitativo. La población consistió en adolescentes de laescuela secundaria de las escuelas públicas del estado. Seaplicó un cuestionario estructurado y un inventario de ladepresión de Beck. Las variables se describieron por mediode la frecuencia absoluta y el porcentaje. Se verificó unaasociación entre las variables y los síntomas depresivos utilizando la prueba de Chi-cuadrada (nivel de significancia p≤0,05). RESULTADOS: Entre los 819 participantes, 166 (20,2%) fueronclasificados como sufriendo de síntomas depresivos. Seencontraron asociaciones de estos síntomas con hembras (p=0,001), grupo de edad de 18 años o más (p= 0023) y estudio en el turno nocturno (p=0034). CONCLUSIÓN: Hubo una considerable prevalencia desíntomas depresivos entre los adolescentes, con unasituación preocupante entre las hembras, que estudian porla noche y tienen 18 años o más. Las medidas para laidentificación precoz de estos síntomas, las estratégias preventivas y la promoción de la salud son imprescindibles.

Todavia, entre os adolescentes estudantes, a frequência é elevada e tal problema pode acarretar em diversas repercussões o adolescente. OBJETIVO: Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo determinar a prevalência de sintomas depressivos entre adolescentes escolares de um município do Norte de Minas Gerais (MG) – Brasil. MÉTODOS: Trata-se de um estudo epidemiológico de base escolar, com delineamento transversal, analítico e de abordagem quantitativa. A população foi composta por adolescentes do ensino médio de escolas públicas estaduais. Foram aplicados questionário estruturado e Inventário de Depressão de Beck. As variáveis foram descritas por meio de frequência absoluta e percentual. Foram aferidas associação entre as variáveis e os sintomas depressivos, utilizando-se o Teste do qui-quadrado (nível de significância p≤0,05). RESULTADOS: Entre os 819 participantes, 166 (20,2%) foram classificados como portadores de sintomas depressivos. Constataram-se associações desses sintomas com sexo feminino (p=0,001), faixa etária de 18 ou mais anos (p=0,023) e estudar em turno noturno (p=0,034). CONCLUSÃO: Houve considerável prevalência de sintomas depressivos entre adolescentes, com situação preocupante entre aqueles do sexo feminino, que estudam à noite e possuem 18 ou mais anos. São imperiosas providências para identificação precoce desses sintomas, estratégias preventivas e de promoção da saúde.

BACKGROUND: Depressive symptoms can manifest in different age groups. However, among adolescent students, the frequency is high and this problem can result in several repercussions on the adolescent. AIM: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of depressive symptoms among school adolescents in a municipality in the North of Minas Gerais (MG) - Brazil. METHODS: This is a school-based epidemiological study, with a cross-sectional, analytical and quantitative approach. The population was composed of high school adolescents from state public schools. Structured questionnaire and Beck Depression Inventory were applied. The variables were described by means of absolute frequency and percentage. The association between variables and depressive symptoms was assessed using the chi-square test (significance level p≤0.05). RESULTS: Among the 819 participants, 166 (20.2%) were classified as suffering from depressive symptoms. Associations of these symptoms were observed in females (p=0.001), age group of 18 years or older (p=0.023) and night shift study (p=0.034). CONCLUSION: There was a considerable prevalence of depressive symptoms among adolescents, with a worrying situation among those women, who study at night and are 18 years or older. Provisions for the early identification of these symptoms, preventive strategies and health promotion are imperative.

Abstract Background Fatty acids are important components of diet that may influence the development of CVD. Objective To verify the relationship of dietary fatty acids with cardiometabolic markers in individuals at the cardiometabolic risk. Methods This cross-sectional study involved 282 subjects (116 M/166 F, 42 ± 16 years) attended the Cardiovascular Health Care Program, Universidade Federal de Viçosa (Brazil). Anthropometric and body composition measurements as well as metabolic and inflammatory markers were assessed by standard procedures. Demographic and lifestyle variables were obtained by semi-structured questionnaire. Food consumption was evaluated by 24h recall. Student's t-test or Mann-Whitney-U test and chi-square test were used, considering the statistical significance level of 5% probability. Results Individuals who eaten fat, fatty acids saturated and fatty acids polyunsaturated above recommendation (> 35, 7%, and 10% of caloric intake) were more likely to be overweight (p < 0.05). Those individuals with higher intake of medium-chain fatty saturated acids (≥ 1.05 g/d) had lower values (p < 0.05) of body mass index, waist circumference, waist-hip ratio and waist-height ratio and higher values (p < 0.05) of total leukocytes, C-reactive protein and total cholesterol, and LDL. Subjects with higher of palmitoleic acid intake (≥ 0.94 g/d) presented higher values of BMI, fat percentage and HOMA-IR (p < 0.05). Conclusion This cross-sectional study found different associations of dietary fat and cardiometabolic risk related to adiposity and inflammatory markers, according with chain-size and saturation, indicating the need the more detailed on the dietary assessment of obese patients to identify risk factors and established best strategies to control. OBJECTIVES: The outcomes of refractory and relapsed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients in developing countries are underreported, even though the similar classic regimens are widely used. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective comparison of “MEC” (mitoxantrone, etoposide, and cytarabine) and “FLAG-IDA” (fludarabine, cytarabine, idarubicin, and filgrastim) in adults with first relapse or refractory AML. RESULTS: In total, 60 patients were included, of which 28 patients received MEC and 32 received FLAG-IDA. A complete response (CR) rate of 48.3% was observed. Of the included patients, 16 (27%) died before undergoing bone marrow assessment. No statiscally significant difference in CR rate was found between the two protocols (p=0.447). The median survival in the total cohort was 4 months, with a 3-year overall survival (OS) rate of 9.7%. In a multivariable model including age, fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) status, and stem-cell transplantation (SCT), only the last two indicators remained significant: FLT3-ITD mutation (hazard ratio [HR]=4.6, p<0.001) and SCT (HR=0.43, p=0.01). CONCLUSION: In our analysis, there were no significant differences between the chosen regimens. High rates of early toxicity were found, emphasizing the role of supportive care and judicious selection of patients who are eligible for intensive salvage therapy in this setting. The FLT3-ITD mutation and SCT remained significant factors for survival in our study, in line with the results of previous studies.

ABSTRACT The objective with this study was to evaluate intake, feeding behavior, rumen fluid characteristics, performance, and nutrient digestibility of sheep fed banana pseudostem hay (BPH) with and without virginiamycin (VM). Thirty-two uncastrated male crossbred Dorper × Santa Inês lambs at approximately five months of age, with an average initial body weight of 25.00±1.95 kg, were used in the experiment. Four diets were tested, as follows: Tifton grass hay (TGH) plus concentrate with VM; BPH replacing 60% of TGH plus concentrate with VM; TGH plus concentrate without VM; and BPH replacing 60% of TGH plus concentrate without VM. The experiment was set up as a completely randomized design in a 2×2 factorial arrangement, in which the factors were represented by BPH and TGH with and without VM, organized in an orthogonal contrast. Banana pseudostem hay inclusion influenced nutrient intake, except for non-fibrous carbohydrates corrected for ash and protein. Neither idling nor water intake times were changed by VM inclusion or banana pseudostem hay addition. Rumen fluid pH did not differ among the contrasts (THV+BHV) vs. (TH+BH), THV vs. TH, and BHV vs. BH, which were used to evaluate VM influence. Banana pseudostem increased rumen fluid pH in the contrast THV vs. BHV, both treatments including VM. Mean temperature of rumen fluid was 34.07 °C, and it did not change by inclusions of VM or banana pseudostem hay. No difference was observed for crude protein digestibility in the evaluated contrasts. When associated with virginiamycin, banana pseudostem hay provides satisfactory performance and nutritional parameters for feedlot sheep. Virginiamycin does not change the performance or nutritional parameters of these animals when Tifton grass hay is used as the only roughage source.

RESUMO Objetivo Avaliar a relação entre o consumo de aminoácidos de cadeia ramificada na dieta atual e os marcadores de adiposidade metabólica e corporal em uma população com perfil de elevado risco cardiovascular. Métodos Trata-se de um estudo transversal com 282 adultos e idosos do Programa de Atenção Cardiovascular da Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Dados sociodemográficos, antropométricos e de composição corporal, além de biomarcadores metabólicos, foram coletados utilizando protocolos padronizados. O consumo alimentar de aminoácidos ramificados foi avaliado através de um recordatório de 24 horas. Resultados Indivíduos com maior consumo de aminoácidos de cadeia ramificada (≥2,6g/dia, valor da mediana) apresentaram menores valores de gordura corporal (29,6 vs 32,2%; p=0,019) e maiores valores de séricos de ferritina (113,2 vs. 60,1mg/dL; p=0,006) e ácido úrico (4,4 vs. 4,0; p=0,023). Além disso, foi encontrada uma menor prevalência de sobrepeso e excesso de gordura abdominal (p<0,05) nos indivíduos com maior consumo de aminoácidos de cadeia ramificada. Eles também apresentaram um maior consumo diário de fibra, cobre, zinco, magnésio e ferro, além de um menor consumo de lipídios totais. Conclusão No presente estudo, o consumo de aminoácidos ramificados está negativamente relacionado à adiposidade total e central, porém mais estudos são necessários para elucidar completamente essa possível relação. ABSTRACT Objective To assess the relationship between branched-chain amino acids intake in the current diet and the metabolic and body adiposity markers in a population at cardiovascular risk. Methods This is a cross-sectional study with 282 adults and elderly people from the Cardiovascular Health Care Program of the Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Sociodemographic, anthropometric and body composition data, as well as metabolic biomarkers were collected using standardized protocols. Dietary intake of branched amino acids was assessed using a 24-hour recall. Results Individuals with a higher branched-chain amino acids intake (≥2.6g/day, median value) had lower body fat (29.6 vs 32.2%; p=0.019), and higher serum ferritin (113.2 vs. 60.1mg/dL; p=0.006) and uric acid concentrations (4.4 vs. 4.0; p=0.023). In addition, a lower prevalence of overweight and excessive abdominal fat (p<0.05) was found in the individuals with higher branched-chain amino acids intake. They also had a higher daily intake of fiber, copper, zinc, magnesium, and iron, as well as a lower intake of total lipids. Conclusion In the present study, the intake of branched amino acids is negatively related to total and central adiposity, but more studies are needed to fully elucidate this possible relationship.
