Abstract Systemic Arterial Hypertension is a multifactorial clinical condition associated with severe outcomes such as stroke and death. One of the main modifiable risk factor for hypertension is an unhealthy diet, often characterized by the consumption of ultraprocessed foods such as sweetened beverages. We aimed to investigate the relationship between the consumption of sweetened beverages, both sugar-sweetened and artificially sweetened, and the prevalence of hypertension in adults. A cross-sectional, household, population-based study with 1,162 adults from two Brazilian cities were carried out. The consumption of food groups and sweetened beverages was obtained by food frequency questionnaire and other data were self-reported. Weight, height, and waist circumference were measured. The association between sweetened beverages consumption and hypertension was analyzed using Poisson regression models, expressed as Prevalence Ratio. The prevalence of hypertension was 16.7%, with no significant difference between genders. The prevalence of consumption of sweetened beverages was 70.3% in men and 54.6% in women, being significantly higher in men. Women who consumed sugar-sweetened and artificially sweetened beverages 6 to 7 days per week had 92% higher prevalence of hypertension compared to those who did not consume or consumed at a lower frequency. Furthermore, women who consumed artificially sweetened beverages at least 1 time per week had 3.36 times higher prevalence of hypertension. The habitual consumption of sweetened beverages may be an important risk factor for hypertension, especially the consumption of diet beverages, which are often marketed as healthier than sugar-sweetened beverages.

Resumen La Hipertensión Arterial Sistémica es una condición clínica multifactorial asociada a resultados graves como el ictus y la muerte. Uno de los principales factores de riesgo modificables de la hipertensión es una dieta poco saludable, a menudo caracterizada por el consumo de alimentos ultraprocesados como las bebidas endulzadas. Nuestro objetivo fue investigar la relación entre el consumo de bebidas endulzadas, tanto azucaradas como edulcoradas artificialmente, y la prevalencia de hipertensión en adultos. Se realizó un estudio transversal, domiciliario y poblacional con 1,162 adultos de dos ciudades brasileñas. El consumo de grupos de alimentos y bebidas endulzadas se obtuvo mediante cuestionario de frecuencia de alimentos y los demás datos fueron autoinformados. Se midieron el peso, la talla y el perímetro de la cintura. La asociación entre el consumo de bebidas endulzadas y la hipertensión se analizó mediante modelos de regresión de Poisson, expresados como Ratio de Prevalencia. La prevalencia de hipertensión fue del 16,7%, sin diferencias significativas entre géneros. La prevalencia de consumo de bebidas endulzadas fue del 70,3% en los hombres y del 54,6% en las mujeres, siendo significativamente mayor en los hombres. Las mujeres que consumían bebidas azucaradas y edulcoradas artificialmente entre 6 y 7 días a la semana tenían 92% mayor prevalencia de hipertensión que las que no consumían o consumían con una frecuencia menor. Además, las mujeres que consumían bebidas edulcoradas al menos 1 vez por semana tenían una prevalencia de hipertensión 3,36 veces mayor. Así pues, el consumo habitual de bebidas endulzadas puede ser un importante factor de riesgo de hipertensión, especialmente el consumo de bebidas dietéticas, que a menudo se comercializan como más saludables que las bebidas azucaradas.

Abstract Background Patients with kidney disease on Hemodialysis (HD) are susceptible to Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) due to multiple risk factors. Aim This study aims to report the prevalence of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 among patients on hemodialysis before vaccination in Brazil and to compare with clinical, demographic, and laboratory data. Methods Blood samples from 398 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients treated in three different private institutions in Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil were submitted to the total anti-SARS-CoV-2 testing. Kidney, liver, and hematological markers were also determined. Respiratory samples were tested by real-time PCR for SARS-CoV-2 RNA and positive samples were subjected to high-throughput sequencing on the MinION device. Results Overall, anti-SARS-CoV-2 prevalence was 54.5 % (217/398) and two individuals had SARS-CoV-2 RNA with variant B.1.1. High anti-SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence was found in male gender and those with hospital admission in the last 3-months before the inclusion in the study. Lower red blood cell count was observed in the anti-SARS-CoV-2 seropositive group. High levels of anti-SARS-CoV-2 were found in those who reported symptoms, had low levels of eosinophils and low hematocrit, and who practiced physical activity. ABSTRACT Introduction: Immune checkpoints are regulators of the immune system response that allow self-tolerance. Molecules such as Programmed Cell Death Protein 1 (PD-1) and its Ligand (PD-L1) participate in the immune checkpoint by signaling co-inhibition of lymphocyte responses. In cancers, PD-L1 expression is associated with the immune evasion mechanism, which favors tumor growth. The use of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 drugs is already well described in solid tumors, but still not fully understood in hematologic malignancies. Myelodysplastic neoplasms (MDSs) are heterogeneous bone marrow disorders with an increased risk of progression to Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). The MDS affects hematopoietic stem cells and its pathogenesis is linked to genetic and epigenetic defects, in addition to immune dysregulation. The influence of the PD-L1 on the MDS remains unknown. Methods: In this study, we evaluated the mRNA expression of the PD-L1 in 53 patients with MDS, classified according to the WHO 2016 Classification. Results: Patients with dyserythropoiesis presented significantly higher PD-L1 expression than patients without dyserythropoiesis (p = 0.050). Patients classified as having MDS with an excess of blasts 2 (MDS-EB2) presented a significant upregulation in the mRNA expression of the PD-L1 compared to the MDS with an excess of blasts 1 (MDS-EB1) (p = 0.050). Furthermore, we detected three patients with very high levels of PD-L1 expression, being statistically classified as outliers. Conclusion: We suggested that the high expression of the PD-L1 is associated with a worse prognosis in the MDS and functional studies are necessary to evaluate the possible use of anti-PD-L1 therapies for high-risk MDS, such as the MDS-EBs. Métodos: se trata de un estudio transversal llevado a cabo con 156 profesionales sanitarios de un hospital de referencia. Methods: this was a cross-sectional study with 156 health professionals from a referral hospital. Abstract The serological markers for the diagnosis of COVID-19 plays an important role in the epidemiological investigation of the pandemic. This study aims to assess the prevalence of anti-SARS-CoV-2 in hepatitis B and C patients in a pre-vaccination of COVID-19 period. Between March 2020 and January 2021, 199 serum samples from individuals with HBsAg/HBV DNA or anti-HCV/HCV RNA positivity were tested for antibodies (IgM and IgG) against SARS-CoV-2 using Electrochemiluminescent Immunoassay (ECLIA). Among these, 50.3 % (100/199) tested positive for hepatitis C virus infection and 49.7 % (99/199) for hepatitis B virus, confirmed through molecular and serological diagnosis. The anti-SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence was 24.1 % (48/199) in this population, with 23.23 % (23/99) hepatitis B and 25 % (25/100) hepatitis C patients tested positive for anti-SARS-CoV-2. The higher seroprevalence of anti-SARS-CoV-2 (16.58 %, 33/199) was detected among those over-40 years of age and the month of November 2020 had the highest number of detections 9 % (18/199) with the majority living in impoverished and neglected neighborhoods in the city of Rio de Janeiro. We found a high prevalence of anti-SARS-CoV-2 in patients with viral hepatitis before COVID-19 vaccination. RESUMO O objetivo do estudo foi identificar as barreiras encontradas pelos profissionais de educação física no atendimento a pessoas com deficiência em meio à pandemia do Covid-19. A pesquisa foi descritiva transversal e de natureza exploratória. O instrumento utilizado para a realização deste estudo apoiou-se em um questionário de criação própria dos pesquisadores, sendo validado por meio do método face validty que constitui de três profissionais doutores da área da Educação Física que formularam parecer sobre o questionário. Os critérios de inclusão foram ser profissional de Educação Física, atuante com pessoas com deficiência por meio da prática esportiva. Já para critério de exclusão foram profissionais não graduados em educação física e sem registro profissional. A amostra do presente estudo foi constituída por 64 profissionais de Educação Física que oferecem aulas para pessoas com deficiência em todo território Brasileiro. Apresentaram uma significativa prevalência para variação de modelo de aulas, dificuldades no emprego da execução das atividades e o desinteresse dos alunos em realizar os exercícios de forma virtual. Conclui-se que as barreiras encontradas pelos profissionais de educação física que atuam diretamente com Pessoas com Deficiência foram as adaptações curriculares, metodológicas, as fragilidades do uso da ferramenta tecnológica e os fatores de ensino aprendizagem.

ABSTRACT The study aimed to identify the barriers encountered by physical education professionals in serving people with disabilities amid the Covid-19 pandemic. This study consisted of cross-sectional descriptive research of an exploratory nature. The instrument used to carry out this study was based on a questionnaire created by the researchers and validated through the face validity method, which consists of three professionals with a PhD in the field of physical education who formulated an opinion on the questionnaire. The inclusion criteria was to be a physical education professional working with people with disabilities through sports, while the exclusion criteria were professionals without a degree in physical education and professional registration. The present study sample consisted of 64 physical education professionals who offer classes for people with disabilities throughout Brazil. They presented a significant prevalence for the variation of the class model, difficulties in the use of the execution of the activities and the disinterest of the students in carrying out the exercises virtually. It is concluded that the barriers encountered by physical education professionals who work directly with People with Disabilities were the curricular and methodological adaptations, the weaknesses in using the technological tool and the teaching-learning factors.

RESUMO O handebol caracteriza-se por transições rápidas entre ações ofensivas e defensivas durante o jogo com objetivo de marcar gols. O nível de conhecimento tático declarativo (CTD) e de aptidão física (APF) do atleta pode influenciar o desempenho. Este estudo objetivou-se em analisar a correlação entre o nível de CTD e de APF de atletas de handebol. A população amostra envolveu 16 atletas, com idade de 16,69 (± 0,60) anos, sexo masculino, escolhidos por conveniência. Utilizamos os protocolos do Projeto Esporte Brasil e CTD. O índice de massa corporal do grupo analisado apresentou média de 24,05 (± 5,71), apontando eutrofia e a relação cintura e média de estatura foi de 0,82 (± 0,13), zona saudável. Em relação à APF dos atletas, identificamos níveis fraco para agilidade (100%), muito bom para flexibilidade (62,5%), bom para força de membros inferiores, (62,5%) muito bom para força de membros superiores (50%), bom para resistência cardiorrespiratória (68,8%), razoável para resistência muscular localizada (37,5%) e fraco para velocidade (100%). O nível de CTD apresentou nível fraco e em evolução com média de 2,50 (± 1,03). Os componentes da APF e CTD não apresentaram correlações significativas. Ademais, os resultados foram promissores, porém, estão aquém dos padrões de excelência, necessitando melhorias.

ABSTRACT Handball is characterised by rapid transitions between offensive and defensive actions during the game in order to score goals. The level of declarative tactical knowledge (DTC) and physical fitness (FPA) of the athlete can influence performance. This study aimed to analyse the correlation between the level of CTD and APF of handball athletes. The sample population involved 16 athletes aged 16.69 (± 0.60) years, male, chosen by convenience. We used the Sport Brazil Project and CTD protocols. The body mass index of the analysed group had an average of 24.05 (± 5.71), indicating eutrophy and the waist-to-height ratio had an average of 0.82 (± 0.13), a healthy zone. Regarding the fitness level of the athletes, we identified weak levels for agility (100%), very good for flexibility (62.5%), good for lower limbs strength (62.5%), very good for upper limbs strength (50%), good for cardiorespiratory resistance (68.8%), reasonable for localised muscle resistance (37.5%) and weak for speed (100%). The CTD level was poor and evolving with a mean of 2.50 (± 1.03). The components of APF and CTD did not show significant correlations. Furthermore, the results were promising; however, they are below the standards of excellence, requiring improvement.

ABSTRACT: Sporotrichosis is a subcutaneous mycosis caused by fungus of the Sporothrix complex, and in Brazil the main species reported is Sporothrix brasiliensis, of which the diseased cat is the transmitter. Although, its occurrence has increased in the state of Paraíba, Brazil, since 2016, data on the disease in this state are limited. Therefore, this research aimed to identify molecularly isolates of Sporothrix spp. from domestic cats from cities in Paraíba, and in this way to expand the understanding of the disease in the state. Thirty-nine samples were analyzed, obtained from skin lesions of domestic felines, from the following cities in Paraíba: João Pessoa, Pilões, Patos, Areia, Bananeiras and Guarabira. Cytological analysis was performed to screen the samples, followed by fungal culture, and the molecular characterization of the isolates was performed, using the species-specific Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) or partial sequencing of the calmodulin gene. All isolates were identified as S. brasiliensis. The sequencing showed 100% similarity to the S. brasiliensis CBS 120339 strain. In view of this, it is concluded that in the study areas the species involved in cases of feline sporotrichosis is S. brasiliensis, its presence in Paraíba demonstrated the spread of the agent in regions distant from the epicenters in Brazil, alerting to the possible occurrence of zoonotic outbreaks similar to those found in the South and Southeast regions of the country. RESUMO: A esporotricose é uma micose subcutânea causada por fungos do complexo Sporothrix, e no Brasil a principal espécie relatada é Sporothrix brasiliensis da qual o transmissor é o gato doente. Embora sua ocorrência tenha aumentado no estado da Paraíba, Brasil, desde 2016, os dados sobre a doença neste estado são limitados. Diante disso, esta pesquisa teve por objetivo identificar, molecularmente, isolados de Sporothrix spp. procedentes de felinos domésticos de cidades da Paraíba, e dessa maneira expandir a compreensão da enfermidade no estado. Foram analisadas 39 amostras, obtidas de lesões cutâneas de felinos domésticos, oriundos das seguintes cidades paraibanas: João Pessoa, Pilões, Patos, Areia, Bananeiras e Guarabira. Realizou-se análise citológica, para triagem das amostras, a seguir cultura fúngica, e posteriormente a caracterização molecular dos isolados, utilizando a Reação em Cadeia da Polimerase (PCR), espécie-específica ou sequenciamento parcial do gene calmodulina. Todos os isolados foram identificados molecularmente como S. brasiliensis. O sequenciamento demonstrou 100% de similaridade com a cepa S. brasiliensis CBS 120339. Contudo, conclui-se que nas áreas do estudo a espécie envolvida em casos de esporotricose felina é S. brasiliensis, sua presença na Paraíba demonstra a disseminação do agente em regiões distantes dos epicentros no Brasil, alertando para a possível ocorrência de surtos zoonóticos, semelhantes aos encontrados nas regiões Sul e Sudeste do país. RESUMEN Objetivo: Desarrollar y validar una aplicación móvil para la educación sanitaria sobre la sepsis. Método: Estudio metodológico compuesto por dos etapas. En la primera, se utilizó información del Instituto Latinoamericano de Sepsis y de la Global Sepsis Alliance, seguida del montaje, diseño y diagramación de la aplicación, según el modelo de desarrollo ágil propuesto por Sommerville. En la segunda etapa, se realizó la validación del contenido con 20 profesionales de la salud expertos en las áreas de cuidados intensivos y sepsis, a partir del uso del Instrumento de Validación de Contenidos Educativos en Salud que analiza objetivos, estructura y relevancia y se consideró válido el ítem con un acuerdo mínimo de 80%, mediante prueba binomial. Resultados: La app presenta 15 pantallas que contemplan medidas de prevención, reconocimiento e identificación precoz de la sepsis, ilustradas por imágenes interactivas. ABSTRACT Objective: To develop and validate a mobile application for health education about sepsis. Method: Methodological study composed of two stages. Firstly, information from the Latin American Sepsis Institute and Global Sepsis Alliance was used, followed by putting together, design and layout of the application, according to the agile development model proposed by Sommerville. In the second stage, content validation occurred with 20 health professionals with expertise in the areas of intensive care and sepsis, from the use of the Instrument for Validation of Educational Content in Health through analyzing objectives, structure and relevance; and it was considered valid the item with a minimum agreement of 80%, by binomial test. Results: The app presents 15 screens that encompass prevention measures, recognition and early identification of sepsis, illustrated by interactive images. ABSTRACT Objective: To understand the perception of university professors about Integrative Community Therapy as a mental health promotion strategy. Methods: Qualitative, phenomenological and interventional research, conducted with professors of the Nursing course at the Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia, Jequié, Bahia, Brazil. The experiential descriptions were produced through phenomenological interviews, whose resulting material was analyzed based on the Ambiguity Analytical technique. Results: The professors expressed a lack of interaction between them, a fact that has become a reality in everyday academic life and that has worsened in the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. Abstract Objective To analyze the functional status profile and associated factors in older persons living on Fernando de Noronha Island/Pernambuco, Brazil. Method This was a cross-sectional, analytical study, and data collection was conducted between August and October 2019. The study population comprised 176 older persons living on the island. The collection protocol was applied through an interview to respond to the behavior of demographic, social, clinical and environmental variables, and to the assessment instruments. The functional status was determined from the Analysis of Latent Classes, evaluated by the protocols of the domains: cognition, mood, instrumental activities of daily living, mobility and communication. Results The chosen analysis model had two classes, named as: “Good autonomy and independence” and “Moderate autonomy and partial dependence”. Most older persons had good functional status and the associated factors were: being male, being separated or divorced, living alone, visiting friends or relatives, having worked more than 36 years, being literate, not having a visual or hearing impairment, taking one or two medications and having a history of falls. Conclusion The functional status of island older persons was presented as a multifactorial phenomenon, as demographic, social and clinical factors remained independently associated with good functionality. It is important that the maintenance of the functional state is encouraged in the implementation of public policies aimed at the specificities of populations residing on islands. Resumo Objetivo Analisar o perfil do estado funcional e os fatores associados em pessoas idosas residentes na Ilha de Fernando de Noronha/Pernambuco, Brasil. Método Tratou-se de um estudo seccional, de caráter analítico, e a coleta de dados foi conduzida entre agosto e outubro de 2019. A população do estudo compreendeu 176 pessoas idosas residentes na ilha. O protocolo de coleta foi aplicado por meio de entrevista para resposta ao questionário de variáveis demográficas, sociais, clínicas e ambientais, e aos instrumentos de avaliação. O estado funcional foi determinado a partir da Análise de Classes Latentes, avaliada pelos protocolos dos domínios: cognição, humor, atividades instrumentais de vida diária, mobilidade e comunicação. Resultados O modelo da análise escolhido possuiu duas classes, nomeadas como: “Boa autonomia e independência” e “Moderada autonomia e dependência parcial”. A maioria das pessoas idosas apresentou bom estado funcional e os fatores associados foram: pertencer ao sexo masculino, ser separado ou divorciado, viver sozinho, visitar os amigos ou parentes, ter trabalhado mais de 36 anos, ser alfabetizado, não ter deficiência visual ou auditiva, fazer uso de uma ou duas medicações e ter história de queda. Conclusão O estado funcional das pessoas idosas insulares se apresentou como um fenômeno multifatorial, pois fatores demográficos, sociais e clínicos estiveram associados de forma independente à boa funcionalidade. RESUMEN Objetivos: describir la experiencia de la familia en relación con la vida diaria de un miembro familiar que experimenta sufrimiento mental. Métodos: se realizó un estudio cualitativo, descriptivo y fenomenológico basado en la ontología de la experiencia de Merleau-Ponty en diez hogares de una ciudad en el estado de Bahía, Brasil, donde residen 24 participantes de los Círculos de Intersubjetividad. Las descripciones producidas fueron sometidas a la técnica de Análisis de Ambigüedad. Resultados: las descripciones se clasificaron en: la ausencia como un poder creativo del sentido de “ser” y “no ser una familia”; y la exclusión y aceptación como expresiones del sufrimiento mental en el contexto familiar.
