ABSTRACT Phenology is defined as the study of the timing of biological events and the biotic and abiotic factors that trigger them. This study reports a description of the phenology of Byrsonima pachyphylla and B. verbascifolia in an ecotonal area between the Cerrado and Amazonia biomes in the Brazilian state of Tocantins, to contribute to a better understanding of their autoecology in this region. Two populations of 15 adult individuals of each species, randomly selected in a Cerrado area in Porto Nacional, Tocantins, were surveyed for 12 months. Percentages were estimated of leaf flush, young, mature, and senescent leaves (vegetative phenology), flower buds, open flowers, green and ripe fruits (reproductive phenology) present in the canopy, as well as the synchrony of the reproductive phenophases. The vegetative and reproductive phenological events were seasonal and occurred mainly at the end of the dry season and during the transition from the dry to the rainy season. Considering the vegetative and reproductive phenology, B. pachyphylla was classified as “evergreen with continuous growth” and as a late-flowering species, whereas B. verbascifolia was classified as “evergreen with seasonal growth” and as an early-flowering species. The reproductive phenological activity of the species exhibited high synchrony. The results suggest that the vegetative and reproductive events are peculiar to each species and represent effective strategies for their survival in the Cerrado, which is markedly seasonal.

RESUMO A fenologia estuda o período de ocorrência de eventos biológicos e o que os estimulam, em relação a fatores bióticos e abióticos. A presente investigação teve como objetivo descrever a fenologia de Byrsonima pachyphylla e de B. verbascifolia em uma área ecotonal entre os Biomas Cerrado e Amazônia no estado do Tocantins com a finalidade contribuir para o melhor entendimento de sua autoecologia nessa região pouco estudada. Trinta indivíduos adultos de cada espécie, escolhidos aleatoriamente em área de Cerrado stricto sensu em Porto Nacional, Tocantins, foram acompanhados quinzenalmente durante doze meses. Foram estimadas as porcentagens de brotações e folhas em diferentes estágios de desenvolvimento (fenologia vegetativa), de botões florais, flores abertas, frutos verdes e maduros (fenologia reprodutiva), bem como a sincronia das fenofases reprodutivas. Os eventos fenológicos vegetativos e reprodutivos foram sazonais e ocorreram principalmente no final do período seco e início do chuvoso. A fenologia vegetativa de B. pachyphylla foi classificada como sempre verde com crescimento contínuo e sua floração como tardia, apresentando este evento principalmente no período seco. B. verbascifolia foi classificada como sempre verde com crescimento sazonal e apresentou produção de flores na transição entre o período seco e o chuvoso sendo considerada uma espécie de floração precoce. A atividade fenológica reprodutiva das espécies apresentou alta sincronia. Os resultados sugerem que os eventos vegetativos e reprodutivos são peculiares a cada espécie e estrategicamente eficientes para sua sobrevivência no Cerrado marcadamente sazonal.

Resumen La interacción entre especies nativas y exóticas puede provocar cambios en la cadena trófica tanto en aspectos de competencia por recursos alimenticios, como en depredación. Los eventos depredadores son de naturaleza común, pero difíciles y oportunistas de registrar. Aquí presentamos el primer informe de interacción trófica que involucra una especie de ave exótica (Melopsittacus undulatus) y una especie de primate nativo (Sapajus cay). Ya se ha registrado que los monos capuchinos se alimentan de una amplia variedad de vertebrados, incluidas ranas, lagartos, aves, mamíferos e incluso otras especies de monos. Aunque el registro de M. undulatus en el estado de Mato Grosso do Sul indica una posible fuga doméstica, el registro de depredación puede representar una interacción trófica beneficiosa para el ecosistema, evitando que M. undulatus se convierta en una especie exótica invasora. Se necesitan estudios para evaluar qué riesgos plantean las especies domésticas que son depredadas por especies nativas.

Abstract The interaction between native and exotic species can cause changes both in the food-chain and in aspects of competition for trophic resources, such as predation. Predatory events are common in nature, but difficult and usually recorded opportunistically. Here we present the first report of trophic interaction involving a species of exotic bird (Melopsittacus undulatus) and a species of native primate (Sapajus cay). Capuchin monkeys have already been recorded feeding on a wide variety of vertebrates, including frogs, lizards, birds, mammals, and even other species of primates. Although the record of the non-native M. undulatus in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul indicates a possible domestic escape, the record of predation may represent a beneficial trophic interaction for the ecosystem, preventing M. undulatus from becoming an invasive alien species. Studies are needed to assess what risks are posed by domestic species being preyed upon by native species.

RESUMEN Aunque los eventos depredatorios son poco comunes de registrar en la naturaleza, estos datos son herramientas importantes para comprender la interacción presa-depredador de las especies involucradas. Las serpientes del género Thamnodynastes son conocidas por su dieta basada en anuros y, aunque algunas especies incluyen ranas hílidas en su dieta, esto no ocurre en la especie T. chaquensis porque no hay registros de depredación o interacción trófica con los hílidos. Aquí informamos sobre la primera interacción depredatoria entre T. chaquensis y dos ranas hílidas del Cerrado brasileño. El primer evento de depredación con la rana Boana caiapo fue exitoso, pero el segundo con B. albopunctata no. Conectar los enlaces tróficos dentro de un ecosistema requiere conocer íntimamente sus especies y sus interacciones intraespecíficas. En este contexto, los registros de depredación y de intentos de depredación como estos pueden ayudar a conectar enlaces tróficos no conocidos, lo cual ayuda a comprender los aspectos de la historia natural de las especies involucradas.

ABSTRACT Although predatory events are uncommon to be recorded in nature, these data are important tools for understanding prey-predator interaction of the involved species. Snakes of genus Thamnodynastes are known for having an anuran diet, including some species of hylid frogs in their diet. Despite this, this pattern does not include T. chaquensis since there are no records on predation or trophic interaction with hylid frogs. Here, we report the first predatory interaction between T. chaquensis and two hylid frogs in Brazilian Cerrado. The first predation event with treefrog Boana caiapo occurred with success but, the second with B. albopunctata did not. Connecting trophic links within an ecosystem requires in-depth knowledge of its species and their intraspecific interactions. In this context, records of the predation and predation attempts such as these may help to connect unknown trophic links, which helps to understand aspects of the natural history of the species involved.

Resumo O magistério tem se constituído atualmente numa profissão produtora de adoecimento. Considerando esse aspecto, este artigo propõe verificar o nível de ansiedade e de depressão dos professores e a sua possível associação com o grau de satisfação no trabalho e os fatores factuais, como idade, escolaridade e religiosidade. Para tal, foram questionados 105 profissionais que ministravam aulas no Ensino Infantil e Fundamental públicos de uma cidade paulista. Por intermédio das Escalas Beck (depressão e ansiedade) e do questionário sobre dados factuais e satisfação com o trabalho, identificou-se que cerca de 50,0% dos sujeitos apresentaram níveis de ansiedade e/ou depressão prejudiciais ao ato educativo. Foi possível concluir, assim, que é necessária a criação de políticas educacionais que levem em consideração a saúde mental dos docentes.

Abstract Teaching nowadays has become a profession, which leads to illness. Taking this aspect into consideration, the aim of this article is to verify teachers’ levels of anxiety and depression and their possible association to the level of satisfaction at work and factual data such as age, educational level and religiousness. To do so, 150 professionals teachers, who taught Public Early Years Education and Primary Education levels in a school in the state of São Paulo, were given a questionnaire, based on the Beck Scales (depression and anxiety) on the factual data and work satisfaction and it could be seen that 50% of the subjects presented levels of anxiety and/or depression which were harmful to the educational act. Thus it was possible to conclude that it is necessary to promote educational policies that take teachers’ mental health into account.

RESUMO A pneumonia adquirida na comunidade (PAC) constitui a principal causa de morte no mundo. Apesar da vasta microbiota respiratória, o Streptococcus pneumoniae permanece como a bactéria de maior prevalência dentre os agentes etiológicos. Apesar da redução significativa das taxas de mortalidade por infecções do trato respiratório inferior nas últimas décadas, a PAC ocupa o terceiro lugar como causa de mortalidade em nosso meio. Desde a última publicação das Diretrizes Brasileiras sobre PAC da Sociedade Brasileira de Pneumologia e Tisiologia (SBPT; 2009), houve importantes avanços na aplicação dos exames de imagem, na investigação etiológica, na estratificação de risco à admissão e de escores prognósticos evolutivos, no uso de biomarcadores e nas recomendações de antibioticoterapia (e sua duração) e da prevenção por vacinas. Para revisar esses tópicos, a Comissão de Infecções Respiratórias da SBPT reuniu 13 membros com reconhecida experiência em PAC no Brasil que identificaram aspectos relevantes à prática clínica que demandam atualizações frente às novas evidências epidemiológicas e científicas publicadas. Foram determinados doze tópicos envolvendo aspectos diagnósticos, prognósticos, terapêuticos e preventivos. Os tópicos foram divididos entre os autores, que realizaram uma revisão de forma não sistemática da literatura, porém priorizando as principais publicações nas áreas específicas, incluindo artigos originais, artigos de revisão e revisões sistemáticas. Todos os autores tiveram a oportunidade de revisar e opinar sobre todas as questões, criando um documento único final que foi aprovado por consenso.

ABSTRACT Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is the leading cause of death worldwide. Despite the vast diversity of respiratory microbiota, Streptococcus pneumoniae remains the most prevalent pathogen among etiologic agents. Despite the significant decrease in the mortality rates for lower respiratory tract infections in recent decades, CAP ranks third as a cause of death in Brazil. Since the latest Guidelines on CAP from the Sociedade Brasileira de Pneumologia e Tisiologia (SBPT, Brazilian Thoracic Association) were published (2009), there have been major advances in the application of imaging tests, in etiologic investigation, in risk stratification at admission and prognostic score stratification, in the use of biomarkers, and in the recommendations for antibiotic therapy (and its duration) and prevention through vaccination. To review these topics, the SBPT Committee on Respiratory Infections summoned 13 members with recognized experience in CAP in Brazil who identified issues relevant to clinical practice that require updates given the publication of new epidemiological and scientific evidence. Twelve topics concerning diagnostic, prognostic, therapeutic, and preventive issues were developed. The topics were divided among the authors, who conducted a nonsystematic review of the literature, but giving priority to major publications in the specific areas, including original articles, review articles, and systematic reviews. All authors had the opportunity to review and comment on all questions, producing a single final document that was approved by consensus.

RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi traduzir, validar e avaliar um instrumento britânico de auxílio à escolha da especialidade médica. Esse instrumento processa as respostas a 130 questões e fornece uma classificação de 59 especialidades médicas, em ordem decrescente de recomendação, em função do ajuste do perfil do candidato às características das especialidades. As dez primeiras recomendações são consideradas positivas, e as dez últimas, negativas. A tradução e a adaptação semântica seguiram os passos técnicos recomendados para esse tipo de trabalho, resultando no instrumento em português denominado SCIB (Specialty Choice Inventory – Brasil). A melhor versão das questões traduzidas foi escolhida. Em seguida, o instrumento foi aplicado a 120 médicos brasileiros (85 médicos especialistas e 35 médicos residentes), representando 38 diferentes especialidades. Foi também aplicado a 79 estudantes dos dois últimos anos do curso de graduação em Medicina. Os participantes da amostra de médicos responderam a um questionário no qual indicavam duas outras especialidades que cogitariam exercer além da atual, bem como outras três que dificilmente exerceriam. O instrumento foi considerado adequado ou muito adequado à realidade brasileira por 85,8% (103/120) dos médicos e por 73,4% (58/79) dos estudantes. Entre estes últimos, 60,8% (48/79) consideraram a escala útil ou muito útil. Os resultados da aplicação do SCIB permitiram verificar que a concordância global das recomendações positivas do instrumento foi de 67,5% (81/120) com a especialidade atualmente exercida e de 72,5% (87/120) com as especialidades que os participantes cogitaram exercer. A concordância entre as recomendações negativas da escala e as especialidades que os médicos dificilmente exerceriam foi de 87,5% (105/120). Os dados das etapas de tradução e adaptação do instrumento original trouxeram elementos para a validação de face, de conteúdo e semântica do instrumento. As respostas dos 120 médicos e os dados da reaplicação da escala a 40 deles permitiram verificar que o SCIB tem homogeneidade, consistência interna e reprodutibilidade satisfatórias. Em conclusão, a tradução e a adaptação de uma escala britânica de auxílio à escolha da especialidade médica no Brasil foram bem-sucedidas. O instrumento resultante teve desempenho muito satisfatório quando aplicado a médicos especialistas e residentes. O SCIB deve, então, constituir uma promissora ferramenta de apoio na escolha da especialidade médica, além de poder ser utilizado na investigação científica nessa área.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to translate, validate and evaluate a British specialty choice inventory. This tool processes the answers to 130 items and returns a 59-medical specialty ranking, in decreasing order of recommendation, based on the candidate’s profile adjustments to specialty characteristics. The top 10 and the bottom 10 recommendations are considered positive and negative ones, respectively. Translation and semantic adaptation followed the standard procedures described in the specialized literature, and resulted in a Brazilian Portuguese version named SCIB (Specialty Choice Inventory – Brasil). The best version of each translated item was chosen. SCIB was then applied to 120 Brazilian physicians (85 specialists and 35 residents) representing 38 different specialties. SCIB was also applied to 79 senior medical students. Participant physicians indicated in a structured questionnaire two specialties they could have chosen apart from the current one, as well as three specialties they would unlikely choose. SCIB was regarded as adequate or very adequate to the Brazilian conditions by 85.8% (103/120) of the physicians and 73.4% (58/79) of the students. Among the latter, 60.8% (48/79) regarded the inventory useful or very useful. For the physicians, SCIB positive recommendations included their current specialty in 67.5% (81/120) of the cases, and any of the specialties they could have chosen in 72.5% (87/120) of the cases. SCIB negative recommendations included any of the specialties that participants would unlikely choose in 87.5% (105/120) of the cases. The translation and adaptation procedures provided data for SCIB validation concerning the face, content and semantic aspects. Answers from the 120 physicians and data from a test-retest study involving 40 participants showed that SCIB has satisfactory levels of homogeneity, internal consistency and reproducibility. In conclusion, translation and adaptation for use in Brazil of the Sci59, a British inventory for assisting medical specialty choice, was successful and resulted in the, SCIB, a tool whose performance was very satisfactory. SCIB can thus be seen as a promising tool for assisting medical specialty choice, as well as for research in this field.

O instrumento resultante teve desempenho muito satisfatório quando aplicado a médicos especialistas e residentes. O SCIB deve, então, constituir uma promissora ferramenta de apoio na escolha da especialidade médica, além de poder ser utilizado na investigação científica nessa área.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to translate, validate and evaluate a British specialty choice inventory. This tool processes the answers to 130 items and returns a 59-medical specialty ranking, in decreasing order of recommendation, based on the candidate's profile adjustments to specialty characteristics. The top 10 and the bottom 10 recommendations are considered positive and negative ones, respectively. Translation and semantic adaptation followed the standard procedures described in the specialized literature, and resulted in a Brazilian Portuguese version named SCIB (Special Choice Inventory — Brasil). The best version of each translated item was chosen. SCIB was then applied to 120 Brazilian physicians (85 specialists and 35 residents) representing 38 different specialties. SCIB was also applied to 79 senior medical students. Participant physicians indicated in a structured questionnaire two specialties they could have chosen apart from the current one, as well as three specialties they would unlikely choose. SCIB was regarded as adequate or very adequate to the Brazilian conditions by 85.8% (103/120) of the physicians and 73.4% (58/79) of the students. Among the latter, 60.8% (48/79) regarded the inventory useful or very useful. For the physicians, SCIB positive recommendations included their current specialty in 67.5% (81/120) of the cases, and any of the specialties they could have chosen in 72.5% (87/120) of the cases. SCIB negative recommendations included any of the specialties that participants would unlikely choose in 87.5% (105/120) of the cases. The translation and adaptation procedures provided data for SCIB validation concerning the face, content and semantic aspects. Answers from the 120 physicians and data from a test-retest study involving 40 participants showed that SCIB has satisfactory levels of homogeneity, internal consistency and reproducibility. In conclusion, translation and adaptation for use in Brazil of the Sci59, a British inventory for assisting medical specialty choice, was successful and resulted in the, SCIB, a tool whose performance was very satisfactory. SCIB can thus be seen as a promising tool for assisting medical specialty choice, as well as for research in this field.

ABSTRACT The parasites are indicative of several biological aspects of their hosts, including their diet, migration, recruitment and phylogeny, but they can also be direct indicators of the environmental quality. Hoplosternum littorale is a fish that has a high commercial value in some South American countries. The fishes were collected from January to July 2012, in two locations of the Peixe River in the municipality of Anhembi, State of São Paulo, Brazil, which had different environmental and limnological characteristics (river mouth and Lagoa Cabeça de Boi). An amount of 30 fish specimens were captured in each location for the analysis of their parasitic fauna. Nine species of metazoan parasites were collected. Both Brillouin`s diversity index and Margalef`s richness index were greater in the Lagoa Cabeça de Boi. The ratio of heteroxenous and monoxenous parasite species richness (SH/SM) was higher in the Lagoa Cabeça de Boi. The results of the physicochemical analysis of the water showed that the mouth of the Peixe River can be considered an area that suffers more from anthropogenic actions than the Lagoa da Cabeça de Boi. Proteocephalus sp., Gyrodactylus sp., Scleroductus sp. and Capillaria (Neocapillaria) pterophylli are being registered for the first time in this host.

RESUMO: Em março de 2010, foram coletados e analisados 44 espécimes de Astyanax altiparanae Garutti & Britski, 2000, conhecidos popularmente como lambari do rabo amarelo, provenientes do rio do Peixe, Estado de São Paulo, Brasil. Dos 44 peixes analisados, 38 estavam parasitados por pelo menos uma espécie de metazoário parasito. Quinze espécies de metazoários parasitos foram coletadas e identificadas: Urocleidoides trinidadensis, Diaphorocleidus kabatai , Diaphorocleidus orthodusus , Diaphorocleidus sp., Urocleidoides sp., Trinibaculum altiparanae, Gyrodactylus sp., Jainus hexops, Contracaecum sp., Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) inopinatus, Vaigamus sp., Amplexibranchius bryconis, Ergasilus sp., Zonocotyloides haroltravassossi e Henneguya sp. Os parasitos D. kabatai , U. trinidadensis, J. hexops, P. (S.) inopinatus e Vaigamus sp. apresentaram prevalências superiores a 10%. O peso e o comprimento dos peixes não influenciaram no parasitismo. Todos os parasitos apresentaram distribuição agregada. A comunidade parasitária de Astyanax altiparanae proveniente do rio do Peixe foi caracterizada por alta riqueza e baixa uniformidade.

ABSTRACT: In March 2010, 44 specimens of Astyanax altiparanae Garutti & Britski, 2000, commonly known as "lambari do rabo amarelo", collected from the Peixe river in the state of São Paulo, Brazil were analyzed. Out of these 44 fishes, 38 had at least one species of metazoan parasite. Fifteen metazoan parasites species were collected and identified: Urocleidoides trinidadensis , Diaphorocleidus kabatai , Diaphorocleidus orthodusus, Diaphorocleidus sp., Urocleidoides sp., Trinibaculum altiparanae , Gyrodactylus sp., Jainus hexops, Contracaecum sp., Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) inopinatus, Vaigamus sp., Amplexibranchius bryconis, Ergasilus sp., Zonocotyloides haroltravassossi and Henneguya sp. Six species of parasites presented a prevalence of over 10%. Weight and length of fishes didn't influence the parasitism. All parasites presented an aggregated distribution. The parasite community of Astyanax altiparanae from the Peixe river was characterized as having high richness and low uniformity.

Founded in 1948, the Christian Council of Mozambique (Conselho Cristáo de Mozambique - CCM) is an institution which contributed to the Colonial War (1964-1974) and to ending the Civil Wars (1977-1992) (2012-2014). The Berkley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs informed the CCM ideals on 'sustainable development'.2 By the latter's evangelisation and teaching, leaders such as Eduardo C. Mondlane were produced for the independence of Mozambique.3 After independence the CCM embarked on facilitated dialogue, bringing peace to a nation torn apart by two belligerent parties, RENAMO4 and FRELIMO.5 In 1984 it created the Commission for Justice, Peace and Reconciliation which attended to the victims of war. This article explores the role of the CCM, its President Bishop Dinis Salomáo Sengulane, and other religious leaders in ending the Civil Wars and implementing peace,6 including within recent history.

INTRODUCTION: Cyclograms are gait analysis tools that characterize the geometric aspect of the pattern of locomotion. Cyclograms are angle-angle diagrams that are very useful for representing cyclic patterns such as walking. This study is based on the hypothesis that parameters extracted from hip-knee cyclograms of individuals walking on a treadmill with 0° and 5° slopes can be used to determine the age group and sex of the volunteers. METHODS: In total, 40 physically active healthy adult volunteers, 20 young people (10 of each gender) and 20 elderly (10 of each gender), were divided into 4 groups, and the average value of area (A), perimeter (P) and the ratio P/√A of cyclogram were calculated, as well as the speed and cadence. RESULTS: The young male (YM) speeds were higher than the elderly male (EM) speeds (p=0.00), and the young female (YF) speeds were higher than the elderly female (EF) speeds (p=0.00). No difference in speed was found between YM and YF (p=0.59) or between EM and EF (p=0.95). The parameters extracted directly from the cyclogram allowed us to distinguish the studied groups according to age group (p<0.05), especially with the treadmill inclined at 5°, but it was not enough to determine gender (p>0.51). CONCLUSION: The hypothesis was partially confirmed because parameters extracted from the hip-knee cyclograms could differentiate volunteers by age group but not gender.

Cinquenta e sete "sairú" (Cyphocharax nagelii) foram examinados entre abril de 2011 e fevereiro de 2012, provenientes do Rio do Peixe, Estado de São Paulo, Sudeste do Brasil. Onze espécies de metazoários parasitos foram coletadas e identificadas: Palombitrema triangulum, Curvianchoratus hexacleidus, Curvianchoratus singularis, Sphincterodiplostomum musculosum, Contracaecum sp., Cacatuocotyle paranaensis, Cosmoxynemoides aguirrei, Amplexibranchius bryconis, Brasergasilus sp., Ergasilus sp., Clinostomum sp. O monogenético P. triangulum foi o parasito mais prevalente (61,40%) e com a maior intensidade média (4,88). Os monogenéticos C. hexacleidus e C. singularis, o digenético S. musculosum e o nematóide Contracaecum sp. também apresentaram alta prevalência. Apenas S. musculosum apresentou correlação significativa entre o peso total do corpo do hospedeiro e sua abundância. As infracomunidades parasitárias tiveram uma diversidade média de Brillouin (HB) =1,165±0,987 e a diversidade máxima foi de 1,671. O sexo e comprimento dos hospedeiros não influenciaram a abundância parasitária. A comunidade de metazoários de C. nagelii no Rio do Peixe foi caracterizada pela alta riqueza e baixa uniformidade.

A total of 57 sairus (Cyphocharax nagelii) from the Peixe River, state of São Paulo, southeastern Brazil, were examined between April 2011 and February 2012. Eleven species of metazoan parasites were collected and identified: Palombitrema triangulum, Curvianchoratus hexacleidus, Curvianchoratus singularis, Sphincterodiplostomum musculosum, Contracaecum sp., Cacatuocotyle paranaensis, Cosmoxynemoides aguirrei, Amplexibranchius bryconis, Brasergasilus sp., Ergasilus sp. and Clinostomum sp. The monogenean P. triangulum was the most prevalent species (61.40%) with the highest mean intensity (4.88). The monogeneans C. hexacleidus and C. singularis, the digenean S. musculosum and the nematode Contracaecum sp. also showed high prevalence. Only S. musculosum presented significant correlation between the total body weight of the host and its abundance. The parasitic infracommunities had a mean Brillouin diversity (HB) of 1.165 ± 0.987 and the maximum diversity was 1.671. The sex and length of the hosts did not influence the abundance of any parasite species. The community of metazoans in C. nagelii from the Peixe River was characterized by high richness and low uniformity.

A ocorrência e novos dados morfológicos do copépode Lamproglena monodi Capart, 1944 parasitando peixes dulcícolas no Brasil são apresentados. Este crustáceo foi originalmente descrito parasitando vários ciclídeos da África. No presente trabalho, os crustáceos foram coletados das brânquias e superfície do corpo dos peixes nativos do Brasil [Astronotus ocellatus (Agassiz, 1831) e Cichla ocellaris Bloch e Schneider, 1801 e duas espécies introduzidas Oreochromis niloticus (Linnaeus, 1758) e Tilapia rendalli (Boulenger, 1897)]. Os espécimes coletados no Brasil apresentaram algumas diferenças morfométricas intraespecíficas em relação aos espécimes do Congo-Kinshasa e Egito.

An occurrence of the copepod Lamproglena monodi Capart, 1944, parasitizing freshwater fishes in Brazil is presented, along with new morphological data. This crustacean was originally described parasitizing several cichlids in Africa. In the present study, the crustaceans were collected from the body surface and gills of two fish species native to Brazil [Astronotus ocellatus (Agassiz, 1831) and Cichla ocellaris Bloch and Schneider, 1801] and two introduced species [Oreochromis niloticus (Linnaeus, 1758) and Tilapia rendalli (Boulenger, 1897)]. The Brazilian specimens exhibited some morphometric intraspecies differences in relation to the specimens from Congo-Kinshasa and Egypt.
