Abstract: The proper choice of raw materials and manufacturing parameters for Cross Laminated Timber is essential to promote the proper bonding of the lamellas, aiming at their application in construction. However, few Brazilian species are currently used in the production of Cross Laminated Timber. The aim of this work was to characterize the bonding quality of four Brazilian reforestation species (Pinus elliottii (pino ellioti), Eucalyptus grandis (eucalipto), Toona ciliata (toona) and Acrocarpus fraxinifolius (lazcar)) in the manufacture of Cross Laminated Timber with two-component polyurethane adhesive and five different pressure levels (from 0,1 MPa to 1,3 MPa). Bonding quality was evaluated through delamination and glue line shear tests based on the European standard. Delamination was affected by the wood species, and the best adhesion occurred for the Cross Laminated Timber manufactured with Pinus elliottii (pino ellioti) and Acrocarpus fraxinifolius (lazcar) at the bonding pressure of 0,7 MPa. Cross Laminated Timber bonding pressure did not affect the percentage of wood in the shear test fractured surface, whereas higher density Cross Laminated Timber showed higher percentages.

ABSTRACT Purpose: Microperimetry has been used for several years as a form of visual function testing in patients with retinal diseases. Normal microperimetry values obtained with microperimeter MP-3 have not yet been fully published, and baseline values for topographic macular sensitivity and correlations with age and sex are needed to establish degrees of impairment. This study aimed to determine values for light sensitivity thresholds and fixation stability using the MP-3 in healthy individuals. Methods: Thirty-seven healthy volunteers (age, 28-68 years), underwent full-threshold microperimetry using a 4-2 (fast) staircase strategy with the standard Goldmann III stimulus size and 68 test points positioned identically to those in the Humphrey Field Analyzer 10-2 test grid. The fixation stability was simultaneously recorded during the microperimetry test. The relationship between global sensitivity and age was calculated using linear regression analysis. Results: Microperimetry was performed on 37 participants (74 eyes). The global mean sensitivity was 29.01 ± 1.44 (range, 26-31) dB. The mean central sensitivity at 2° measured by the MP-3 was 28.5 ± 1.77 dB in the right eye (OD) and 28.75 ± 1.98 dB in the left eye (OS). The total median fixation stability values within 2° and 4° were 80% and 96%, respectively. The linear regression analysis also revealed an age-related global sensitivity decline per year of -0.051 dB ± 0.018 (OD) and -0.078 dB ± 0.021 (OS). Conclusions: Microperimetry performed with the MP-3 allows for an automatic, accurate, and topography-specific examination of retinal sensitivity thresholds. The results of this study provide a normal and age-matched database of MP-3 microperimetry.

RESUMO Objetivos: A microperimetria tem sido usada há vários anos como uma forma de teste de função visual em pacientes com doenças da retina. Os valores normais de microperimetria obtidos com MP-3 ainda não foram totalmente publicados e os valores basais para sensibilidade macular topográfica e correlações com idade e sexo são necessários para estabelecer graus de comprometimento. O objetivo do trabalho é determinar valores para limiares de sensibilidade à luz e estabilidade de fixação usando o MP-3 em indivíduos normais. Métodos: Trinta e sete voluntários saudáveis (idade: 28-68 anos), submetidos à microperimetria de limiar total usando uma estratégia de escada 4-2 (rápida) com o tamanho de estímulo padrão Goldmann III e 68 pontos de teste posicionados de forma idêntica aos do Humphrey Field Analyzer 10-2 grade de teste. A estabilidade da fixação foi registrada simultaneamente durante o teste de microperimetria. A relação entre a sensibilidade global e a idade foi calculada por meio de análise de regressão linear. Resultados: A microperimetria foi realizada em 37 indivíduos (74 olhos). A sensibilidade média global foi de 29,01 ± 1,44 dB, intervalo: 26-31 dB. A mediana da sensibilidade central a 2° medida pelo MP-3 foi de 28,5 ± 1,77 dB (ER) e 28,75 ± 1,98 dB (OE). Os valores médios totais de estabilidade da fixação em 2° e 4° foram 80% e 96%, respectivamente. A análise de regressão linear também revelou um declínio de sensibilidade global relacionado à idade por ano de -0,051 dB ± 0,018 (ER) e -0,078 dB ± 0,021 (LE). Conclusões: A microperimetria realizada com o MP-3 permite um exame automático, preciso e específico da topografia dos limiares de sensibilidade da retina. Os resultados deste estudo fornecem um banco de dados normal e de idade correspondente da microperimetria MP-3.

Abstract Objectives To evaluate outcomes of oral food challenge (OFC) test to assess tolerance in infants with non-IgE-mediated cow's milk allergy (CMA) with gastrointestinal manifestations and explore clinical data predictive of these outcomes. Methods Single-center retrospective study including infants (age < 12 months) who were referred for CMA between 2000 and 2018 and underwent OFC on follow-up. A univariate logistic regression test was performed to evaluate variables associated with the outcomes of the follow-up OFC test. Results Eighty-two patients were included, 50% were male. Eighteen patients had a positive OFC test (22%). Most patients had presented with hematochezia (77%). The median age of symptom onset was 30 days. Two-thirds of the patients were on appropriate infant formula (extensively hydrolyzed or amino acid-based formula), exclusively or in association with breastfeeding. The median time on an elimination diet before the OFC test was 8 months (Q1 6 - Q3 11 months). All cases with positive follow-up OFC tests (n= 18) had been exposed to cow's milk-based formula before the first clinical manifestation of CMA. Five out of eight cases with Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES) had positive OFC tests. Exposure to cow's milk-based formula before diagnosis, a history of other food allergies, hematochezia and diarrhea were predictors of a positive OFC test. Conclusions In infants with non-IgE-mediated CMPA with gastrointestinal manifestations, the use of cow's milk-based formula, a history of other food allergies, and hematochezia and diarrhea upon initial presentation were associated factors for the later achievement of tolerance.

Abstract We investigated the Biogran on bone repair and metabolism at several time-intervals upon grafting into rat tibia artificial defects. The biomaterial was thoroughly characterized in vitro, and its dissolution behavior upon immersion was assessed in simulated body fluid (SBF) solution for 1, 3, 7, 14, and 30 days. Biogran was also assessed by in vitro hydroxyapatite formation in SBF solution, which is a marker for bioactive behavior. In vivo, distal and proximal bone defects were performed in the Wistar rat's right tibia and filled according to the experimental groups: I) negative control, no filling; II) positive control, 10 mg of autogenous bone; and III) 10 mg of Biogran. Animals were euthanized at 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, and 10 weeks. Bone neoformation was analyzed using histomorphometry (proximal defect), and local levels of bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) were measured using the ELISA assay (distal defect). In vitro, the Biogran sample showed a fast dissolution rate within the first 7 days, parallel to the formation of the hydroxyapatite layer. In vivo, the sample was progressively resorbed at a higher rate within the first month until it became almost absent at week 10th. The sample presented similar or higher bone neoformation concerning the autogenous bone. BMP-2 levels were sustained in the Biogran group (around 200 pg/mg) and detected until the last experimental time with a significant difference compared with the controls. Results suggest Biogran is a candidate for hard tissue engineering even in highly active bone remodeling sites.

RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar os fatores associados à hospitalização em enfermaria e unidade de terapia intensiva (UTI), e ao óbito pela COVID-19 em gestantes com caso confirmado. Métodos: Pesquisa observacional, transversal, realizada com dados de gestantes com caso confirmado para COVID-19 provenientes do Sistema de Informação de Vigilância Epidemiológica da Gripe e do Sistema Estadual Notifica COVID-19, do Paraná. Investigou-se a associação entre variáveis independentes e dependentes (hospitalização em enfermaria e UTI, e óbito) pelo modelo de regressão de Poisson com variância robusta. Resultados: 4.719 gestantes compuseram a população do estudo; 9,6 e 5,1% foram hospitalizadas em enfermaria e UTI, respectivamente; 1,9% evoluíram para óbito. Houve associação entre a idade materna avançada e internação em enfermaria (RP=1,36; IC95% 1,10–1,62) e UTI (RP=2,25; IC95% 1,78–2,71), e óbito (RP=3,22; IC95% 2,30–4,15). Verificou-se associação entre o terceiro trimestre gestacional e hospitalização em enfermaria (RP=5,06; IC95% 2,82–7,30) e UTI (RP=6,03; IC95% 3,67–8,39) e óbito (RP=13,56; IC95% 2,90–24,23). O segundo trimestre associou-se à internação em UTI (RP=2,67; IC95% 1,36–3,99). Gestantes com cardiopatia apresentaram maior frequência de hospitalização em enfermaria (RP=2,24; IC95% 1,43–3,05) e UTI (RP=2,66; IC95% 1,46–3,87). A obesidade foi associada à admissão em UTI (RP=3,79; IC95% 2,71–4,86) e ao óbito (RP=5,62; IC95% 2,41–8,83). Conclusão: A idade materna avançada, o final do período gestacional e comorbidades foram fatores associados a quadros graves de COVID-19.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the factors associated with hospitalization in the ward and intensive care unit (ICU), and with death from COVID-19 in pregnant women with confirmed cases. Methods: Observational, cross-sectional study, carried out with data from pregnant women with a confirmed case of COVID-19 from the Influenza Epidemiological Surveillance Information System and the Paraná’s state COVID-19 notification system. The association between the independent and dependent variables (hospitalization in the ward and ICU, and death) was investigated using the Poisson regression model with robust variance. Results: 4,719 pregnant women comprised the study population. 9.6 and 5.1% were hospitalized in wards and ICU, respectively. 1.9% died. There was an association between advanced maternal age and hospitalization in wards (PR=1.36; 95%CI 1.10–1.62) and ICU (PR=2.25; 95%CI 1.78–2.71), and death (PR=3.22; 95%CI 2.30–4.15). An association was found between the third trimester and hospitalization in wards (PR=5.06; 95%CI 2.82–7.30) and ICU (PR=6.03; 95%CI 3.67–8.39) and death (PR=13.56; 95%CI 2.90–24.23). The second trimester was associated with ICU admission (PR=2.67; 95%CI 1.36–3.99). Pregnant women with cardiovascular disease had a higher frequency of hospitalization in wards (PR=2.24; 95%CI 1.43–3.05) and ICU (PR=2.66; 95%CI 1.46–3.87). Obesity was associated with ICU admission (PR=3.79; 95%CI 2.71–4.86) and death (PR=5.62; 95%CI 2.41–8.83). Conclusions: Advanced maternal age, the end of the gestational period and comorbidities were associated with severe COVID-19.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Validar lista de verificación para el baño seguro en pacientes críticos. Métodos: Estudio metodológico y cuantitativo. Se elaboró una lista de verificación para baño seguro en paciente crítico compuesta por 41 ítems, que fue sometida al proceso de validación aparente y de contenido, evaluada por 11 jueces, y confiabilidad interobservadores. Para el análisis de confiabilidad, el instrumento fue aplicado en 54 procedimientos de baño en el lecho en UTI; utilizados las pruebas de Kappa e ICC. Resultados: En la validación aparente y de contenido, fueron realizados ayustes conforme sugestiones de los jueces. Los valores de Kappa variaron de moderado a casi perfecto (0,462 a 0,962); y, en algunos ítems, hubo 100% de concordancia; la confiabilidad del instrumento fue excelente (ICC = 0,962). Conclusión: El instrumento se demostró confiable y de fácil aplicación. Su utilización contribuirá para el baño en el lecho seguro y subsidiará intervenciones que objetiven aumentar la calidad asistencial.

ABSTRACT Objective: To validate a checklist for safe bathing in critically ill patients. Methods: This is a methodological and quantitative study. Researchers developed a checklist for safe bathing in critically ill patients consisting of 41 items, which were submitted to the apparent and content validation process, evaluated by eleven judges, and interobserver reliability. For reliability analysis, the instrument was applied in 54 bed bath procedures in the ICU; Kappa and CHF tests were used. Results: In the apparent and content validation, adjustments were made according to the judges’ suggestions. Kappa values ranged from moderate to almost perfect (0.462 to 0.962), and, in some items, there was 100% agreement; the reliability of the instrument was excellent (ICC = 0.962). Conclusion: The instrument proved to be dependable and easy to apply. Its use will contribute to safe bed bathing and subsidize interventions aimed at increasing the quality of care.

RESUMO Objetivo: Validar uma lista de verificação para o banho seguro em pacientes críticos. Métodos: Estudo metodológico e quantitativo. Elaborou-se uma lista de verificação para banho seguro no paciente crítico composta por 41 itens, que foi submetida ao processo de validação aparente e de conteúdo, avaliada por 11 juízes, e confiabilidade interobservadores. Para a análise de confiabilidade, o instrumento foi aplicado em 54 procedimentos de banho no leito em UTI; utilizaram-se os testes de Kappa e ICC. Resultados: Na validação aparente e de conteúdo, foram realizados ajustes conforme sugestões dos juízes. Os valores de Kappa variaram de moderado a quase perfeito (0,462 a 0,962); e, em alguns itens, houve 100% de concordância; a confiabilidade do instrumento foi excelente (ICC = 0,962). Conclusão: O instrumento demonstrou-se confiável e de fácil aplicação. Sua utilização contribuirá para o banho no leito seguro e subsidiará intervenções que visem aumentar a qualidade assistencial.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Precisely determining the aspects related to an instrument's validity and reliability measures allows for greater assurance of the quality of the results. OBJECTIVES: To analyze the psychometric properties of The Providers Survey in the Brazilian context of mental health services. DESIGN AND SETTING: The instrument validation study was conducted in Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, Brazil. METHODS: The validation study was conducted using the Consensus-based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement Instruments checklist to analyze its validity and reliability. RESULTS: A committee of expert judges performed content validation after which the Content Validity Index was calculated. Construct validation took place through Exploratory Factor Analysis using the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin Test criterion and Bartlett's Sphericity Test. Reliability was verified using test-retest reliability. The significance level adopted for the statistical tests was 5% (P < 0.05). The final instrument comprised 54 questions. The Content Validity Index was 97%. Exploratory Factor Analysis identified a Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin index of 0.901 and Bartlett's Sphericity Test with P < 0.001. We obtained a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.95 and an intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.849. CONCLUSIONS: The Providers Survey, translated and adapted into Portuguese, was named the Work Assessment Instrument for the Recovery of Mental Health. It presented adequate psychometric properties for evaluating work-related practices for the recovery of psychosocial care network users.

ABSTRACT Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of maternal and perinatal factors on the nutritional composition of human milk. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between November 2018 and January 2020, with 181 donors selected in Tertiary Health Units of the Unified Health System — from one collection station and five Human Milk Banks. Data were collected through a standardized questionnaire. To be fit to be a donor in a Human Milk Banks and produce mature milk were the eligibility criteria to participate in the study. We excluded milk samples with Dornic acidity above 8° D. The dependent variables were the macronutrients of human milk (i.e., carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and total energy), that were analyzed using spectroscopy with the Miris Human Milk Analyzer™. The maternal and perinatal factors were the independent variables. Results: Women with pre-gestational obesity and gestational weight gain above the recommendation showed a lower protein concentration compared to eutrophic women (median=0.8, interquartile range (IQR): 0.7–0.9 vs. median=0.8, and IQR: 0.8–1.0) and those with adequate gestational weight gain (median=0.8, IQR: 0.7–0.9 vs. median=0.9, and IQR: 0.8–1.0), respectively. The other analyzed factors (i.e., maternal habits, comorbidities, and perinatal factors) were not associated with the nutritional composition of human milk. Conclusions: The assessment of factors associated with the nutritional composition of human milk is extremely important to assist postpartum care. Pre-gestational obesity and inadequate gestational weight gain were the only factors statistically associated with the nutritional composition of human milk as they impacted its protein content.

RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar a influência de fatores maternos e perinatais na composição nutricional do leite humano. Métodos: Estudo transversal, realizado entre novembro de 2018 e janeiro de 2020, com 181 doadoras selecionadas em Unidades Terciárias de Saúde do Sistema Único de Saúde de um Posto de Coleta e cinco Bancos de Leite Humano. Foram coletados dados das variáveis maternas e dos recém-nascidos por meio de questionário padronizado. Estar apta para ser doadora em um Banco de Leite Humano e produzir leite maduro foram os critérios de elegibilidade para participar do estudo. As amostras de leite com acidez Dornic acima de 8° D foram excluídas. Os macronutrientes do leite humano, variáveis dependentes (carboidratos, proteínas, lipídeos, energia total) foram analisados pela técnica de espectroscopia de transmissão no infravermelho médio com o Miris Human Milk Analyzer™. Os fatores maternos e perinatais foram as variáveis independentes. Resultados: Mulheres com obesidade pré-gestacional e ganho de peso gestacional acima do recomendado apresentaram menor concentração proteica em relação às eutróficas (mediana=0,8, intervalo interquartil [IQR]: 0,7–0,9 vs. mediana=0,8, IQR: 0,8–1,0) e aquelas com ganho de peso gestacional adequado (mediana=0,8, IQR: 0,7–0,9 vs. mediana=0,9, IQR: 0,8–1,0), respectivamente. Os demais fatores analisados (hábitos maternos, comorbidades, fatores perinatais) não se associaram com a composição nutricional do leite humano. Conclusões: A avaliação dos fatores associados à composição nutricional do leite humano é de extrema importância para auxiliar os cuidados pós-parto. A obesidade pré-gestacional e o ganho de peso gestacional inadequado foram os únicos fatores estatisticamente associados com a composição nutricional do leite humano por terem impactado o seu teor de proteína.

ABSTRACT: This study evaluated the effect of the co-feeding (C) period on the growth and survival of larvae of the yo-yo loach Botia lohachata ornamental species during the weaning period from live food (LF) to inert food (IF). The breeders were subjected to induced spawning using crude pituitary homogenate. A total of 2,400 larvae were used with an average initial weight of 0.39 ± 0.09 mg and an average total length of 4.08 ± 0.21 mm, from a single breeding pair. The live food was newly hatched nauplii of Artemia franciscana, and the inert diet was a commercial ration with 55% crude protein and two particle sizes (142-350 µm and 350-500 µm). As the first food, all larvae received A. franciscana during the first six days, except for the fasting (NC) and inert food (IF) groups. The following co-feeding strategies were employed: C4 = 4 days of co-feeding, C8 = 8 days of co-feeding, C12 = 12 days of co-feeding, and LF = Artemia during the entire experimental period. The longest period with live food promoted better larval growth rates. The specific growth rate of larvae fed live food during the entire period (LF) was higher than that of the other groups, followed by the co-feeding strategies. There was no effect (P > 0.01) on larval survival in the LF, C12, C8, and C4 groups, which ranged from 41% to 53% after 30 days. Treatment R resulted in high mortality and low growth, suggesting that live food should be the first food source for B. lohachata larvae.

RESUMO: Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito do período de co-alimentação (C) no crescimento e sobrevivência de larvas da espécie ornamental Botia lohachata durante o período de desmame de alimento vivo (LF) para alimento inerte (IF). Os reprodutores foram submetidos à desova induzida com homogeneizado de hipófise. Foram utilizadas 2.400 larvas com peso inicial médio de 0,39 ± 0,09 mg e comprimento total médio de 4,08 ± 0,21 mm, de um único casal reprodutor. O alimento vivo foi náuplios recém-eclodidos de Artemia franciscana, e a dieta inerte foi uma ração comercial com 55% de proteína bruta e dois tamanhos de partículas (142-350 µm e 350-500 µm). Como primeiro alimento, todas as larvas receberam A. franciscana durante os primeiros seis dias, exceto os grupos jejum (NC) e alimento inerte (IF). As seguintes estratégias de co-alimentação foram empregadas: C4 = 4 dias de co-alimentação, C8 = 8 dias de co-alimentação, C12 = 12 dias de co-alimentação e LF = Artemia durante todo o período experimental. O maior período com alimento vivo promoveu melhores taxas de crescimento larval. A taxa de crescimento específico das larvas alimentadas com ração viva durante todo o período (LF) foi maior que a dos demais grupos, seguida das estratégias de co-alimentação. Não houve efeito (P > 0,01) na sobrevivência larval nos grupos LF, C12, C8 e C4, que variou de 41% a 53% após 30 dias. O tratamento IN resultou em alta mortalidade e baixo crescimento, sugerindo que o alimento vivo deve ser a primeira fonte de alimento para as larvas de B. lohachata.

Objective: to examine the repercussions of the pandemic on the family system by focusing on the perspective of family members who contracted and experienced COVID-19. Method: an exploratory study with a qualitative approach conducted with 27 individuals who had COVID-19. Data collection took place through telephone interviews that were audio-recorded and guided by a semi-structured instrument. Data analysis was based on an inductive process supported by Reflexive Thematic Analysis. Results: the pandemic and illness of a family member acted as driving forces generating new and intense movements in the family system. Initially, they noticed negative repercussions such as concerns, fear, anguish, stress, distancing and social isolation. As time progressed and by using technologies to ease communication, they began to perceive positive repercussions such as increased proximity, strengthening of ties, development of new roles and care. The families also identified recovery of a balanced position, with return of certain readjustment in family dynamics and functioning. Conclusion: health professionals need to recognize that the COVID-19 disease has imposed repercussions on family systems, proposing interventions that help families face this moment and more easily recover a balanced position for their functioning.

Objetivo: examinar las repercusiones de la pandemia en el sistema familiar enfocándose en la perspectiva de familiares que han contraído y padecido COVID-19. Método: estudio exploratorio de enfoque cualitativo realizado con 27 personas que tuvieron COVID-19. Los datos se recolectaron por medio de entrevistas telefónicas que se grabaron en audio y estuvieron guiadas por un instrumento semiestructurado. El análisis se basó en un proceso inductivo respaldado por Análisis Temático Reflexivo. Resultados: la pandemia y el hecho de que un familiar contrajera la enfermedad fueron fuerzas impulsoras que generaron movilizaciones nuevas e intensas en el sistema familiar. Inicialmente, notaron repercusiones negativas como preocupaciones, temor, angustia, estrés, distanciamiento y aislamiento social. Con el paso del tiempo y empleando tecnologías para facilitar la comunicación, comenzaron a percibir repercusiones positivas como más cercanía, fortalecimiento de vínculos, desarrollo de nuevos roles y cuidado mutuo. Las familias también identificaron que recuperaban una posición de equilibrio, con retorno de cierto reajuste en la dinámica y el funcionamiento familiar. Conclusión: los profesionales de la salud deben admitir que la enfermedad por COVID-19 ha generado repercusiones en los sistemas familiares, además de proponer intervenciones que ayuden a las familias a hacer frente a este momento y a recuperar más fácilmente una posición de equilibrio para su buen funcionamiento.

Objetivo: examinar as repercussões da pandemia no sistema familiar a partir da perspectiva dos familiares que contraíram e vivenciaram a COVID-19. Método: estudo exploratório com abordagem qualitativa realizado com 27 indivíduos que tiveram COVID-19. A coleta de dados ocorreu por meio de entrevistas telefônicas gravadas em áudio e guiadas por um instrumento semiestruturado. A análise dos dados baseou-se num processo indutivo apoiado na Análise Temática Reflexiva. Resultados: a pandemia e o adoecimento de um familiar atuaram como motores geradores de novos e intensos movimentos no sistema familiar. Inicialmente, perceberam repercussões negativas como preocupações, medo, angústia, estresse, distanciamento e isolamento social. Com o passar do tempo e com o uso das tecnologias para facilitar a comunicação, os familiares começaram a perceber repercussões positivas como maior proximidade, fortalecimento dos laços, desenvolvimento de novos papéis e cuidado. As famílias também identificaram recuperação de uma posição equilibrada, com retorno de certo reajuste na dinâmica e funcionamento familiar. Conclusão: os profissionais de saúde precisam reconhecer que a doença COVID-19 impôs repercussões nos sistemas familiares, propondo intervenções que ajudem as famílias a enfrentar esse momento e recuperar mais facilmente uma posição equilibrada para seu funcionamento.

Abstract Objective: to assess the occurrence of overweight/obesity in patient with epilepsy (PWEs) and to relate it to cognitive aspects and clinical variables. Methodology: the measurements of waist circumference, calf circumference, arm circumference, and the body mass index were related to the scores of the Mini-Mental State Examination and the Brief Cognitive Battery-Edu, as well as to the clinical variables of 164 PWEs, with a significance level of p < 0.05. Data were compared to a similar control group (CG) comprising 71 cases. Linear and multiple logistic regression models were used to assess factors related to cognitive aspects. Results: the mean age of the PWEs was 49.8 ± 16.6 years with a mean length of epilepsy of 22 ± 15.9 years. Overweight/obesity occurred in 106 (64.6 %) PWEs and in 42 (59.1 %) CG subjects. The PWEs had a worse performance in several cognitive functions when compared to CG subjects. In the PWEs, overweight/obesity was associated with lower educational level, older age, and cognitive impairment. Greater waist circumference, overweight, age at the first seizure, and use of polytherapy with antiseizure medications were predictive factors of memory impairment in multiple linear regression. Greater arm and calf circumference values were associated with better performance in several cognitive areas. Conclusion: the occurrence of overweight/obesity in PWEs and CG subjects was high. Cognitive impairment occurred in a high number of PWEs and was associated with overweight, greater waist circumference values, and clinical aspects of epilepsy. Better cognitive performance was associated with greater arm and calf circumference.

Resumen Objetivo: evaluar la ocurrencia de sobrepeso/obesidad en pacientes con epilepsia y relacionarla con aspectos cognitivos y variables clínicas. Metodología: las medidas de circunferencia de cintura, circunferencia de pantorrilla, circunferencia de brazo e índice de masa corporal se relacionaron con los puntajes del Mini-Mental State Exam y de la Batería Cognitiva Breve-Edu, así como con las variables clínicas de 164 pacientes con epilepsia, con un nivel de significación de p < 0,05. Los datos se compararon con un grupo de control similar (GC) compuesto por 71 casos. Se utilizaron modelos de regresión logística lineal y múltiple para evaluar factores relacionados con aspectos cognitivos. Resultados: la edad media de las pacientes con epilepsia fue de 49,8 ± 16,6 años con una duración media de la epilepsia de 22 ± 15,9 años. Presentaron sobrepeso/obesidad 106 (64,6 %) pacientes con epilepsia y 42 (59,1 %) sujetos del GC. Los pacientes con epilepsia tuvieron un peor desempeño en varias funciones cognitivas en comparación con los sujetos del GC. En las pacientes con epilepsia, el sobrepeso/obesidad se asoció con menor nivel educativo, mayor edad y deterioro cognitivo. La mayor circunferencia de la cintura, el sobrepeso, la edad de la primera convulsión y el uso de politerapia con medicamentos anticonvulsivos fueron factores predictivos del deterioro de la memoria en la regresión lineal múltiple. Los valores mayores de circunferencia del brazo y la pantorrilla se asociaron con un mejor rendimiento en varias áreas cognitivas. Conclusión: la incidencia de sobrepeso/obesidad en sujetos pacientes con epilepsia y GC fue alta. El deterioro cognitivo ocurrió en un alto número de pacientes con epilepsia y se asoció con sobrepeso, mayores valores de circunferencia de la cintura y aspectos clínicos de la epilepsia. Un mejor rendimiento cognitivo se asoció con una mayor circunferencia del brazo y la pantorrilla.

Abstract Purpose To identify the relationship between characteristics of the board of directors and the probability of dissemination of social responsibility reports. Theoretical framework Considering the central role of the board of directors in mitigating conflicts of interest, the study is based on the stakeholder-agency theory. Design/methodology/approach The sample included 250 companies listed on the Brazilian Stock Exchange (B3). The data used were collected in the “Relate or Explain” Report, Economática®, and CVM Reference Form, and then operationalized using a binary logistic regression model. Findings The results suggest that the probability of dissemination of social responsibility reports is 1.52% higher for companies with more concentrated shares, 101.10% higher for larger companies, and 59.2% lower for companies with dual positions. Practical & social implications of research The findings may be useful for (i) guiding organizational strategies for board composition that improve the dissemination of social responsibility reporting, (ii) fostering discussions about changes in the classification of levels of corporate governance in the B3, and (iii) multi-stakeholder decision making. Originality/value For the accounting academia, the study promotes an additional debate on the role of the board of directors in dealing with the agency problem. The study is innovative in showing how the characteristics of the board of directors can change the potential for dissemination of social responsibility reports.

RESUMO O estudo objetivou compreender a atenção pré-natal em uma região de fronteira na vigência da pandemia da Covid-19. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, realizado em serviços da atenção primária à saúde, com 27 participantes, entre mulheres e profissionais de saúde, por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas, remotas e presenciais, entre agosto de 2021 e janeiro de 2022, cujos dados foram averiguados por análise temática. Foram identificadas quatro categorias temáticas, quais sejam: Início do pré-natal adiado; Parcialidade nas ações em saúde no pré-natal; (Des)informação em saúde em período de pandemia; e Medidas de prevenção à Covid-19 na gestação. A pandemia da Covid-19 gerou retrocessos no pré-natal, como a restrição do acompanhante nas consultas e exames e suspensão de grupos de gestantes, com prejuízos na educação em saúde, adiamento do início do pré-natal e/ou comprometimento da sua realização, particularmente de brasileiras residentes no Paraguai. Teleatendimento, como estratégia para acompanhamento do pré-natal, apareceu timidamente. Os serviços de saúde se reorganizaram para manter as medidas para evitar a infecção e, assim, tentar garantir o seguimento pré-natal de forma presencial.

Four thematic categories were identified: delayed initiation of prenatal care, partiality in prenatal health measures, (in)health information in a pandemic period, and COVID-19 preventive measures in pregnancy. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to setbacks in prenatal care, such as limiting the presence of others than not the pregnant individual during consultations and examinations, exposing groups of pregnant women to health information losses, postponing the start of prenatal care, and or compromising their deliveries, especially among Brazilian women living in Paraguay. Telecare as a strategy for prenatal follow-up has been slow to be implemented. Health services have been reorganized to maintain infection prevention measures and provide prenatal follow-up in person.

The objective of this research was to narrow down the situations of school violence reported in the novel The Athenaeum by Raul Pompéia, focusing on reflection on cases of bullying. Bullying has existed since the beginning of the school, but its study took place at the time when a large part of society began to attend it, accentuating in the school environment, the conflicts arising from the contradictory social structure. Despite the fact that research on bullying in Brazil began just over a century after the original publication of The Athenaeum, it is observed that this problem was already present in the Brazilian school context. Some forms of aggression described in this work were intentional, repetitive, triggered by the desire to destroy the other and, for no apparent reason, and as a rule, the targets were more fragile than the authors. The analysis of the hostilities described in The Athenaeum enables the elaboration of the past, giving voice to neglected, attenuated or forgotten suffering.

El objetivo de esta pesquisa fue delimitar las situaciones de violencia escolar relatadas en la obra O Ateneu de Raul Pompéia, centrándose en la reflexión sobre casos de bullying. El bullying existe desde los inicios de la escuela, pero su estudio se dio en el momento en que gran parte de la sociedad comenzaba a frecuentarla, acentuándose en el ámbito escolar, los conflictos derivados de la contradictoria estructura social. A pesar de que la investigación sobre el bullying en Brasil comenzó poco más de un siglo después de la publicación original de O Ateneu, se observa que este problema ya estaba presente en el contexto escolar brasileño. Además de esto, parte de las formas de agresión descritas en este trabajo fueron intencionales, repetitivas, provocadas por el deseo de destruir al otro y, sin motivo aparente, y los blancos, por regla general, eran más débiles que los autores. El análisis de las hostilidades expuestas en O Ateneu, hace posible la elaboración del pasado, dándole voz al sufrimiento ignorado, atenuado u olvidado.

O objetivo dessa pesquisa foi delimitar as situações de violência escolar relatadas na obra O Ateneu de Raul Pompéia, centrando-se na reflexão sobre os casos de bullying. O bullying existe desde os primórdios da escola, mas o seu estudo ocorreu no momento em que grande parcela da sociedade começou a frequentá-la, acentuando no ambiente escolar, os conflitos oriundos da estrutura social contraditória. A despeito de as pesquisas sobre o bullying, no Brasil, terem sido iniciadas pouco mais de um século após a publicação original de O Ateneu, observa-se que esse problema já se fazia presente no contexto escolar brasileiro, pois parte das formas de agressão descritas nesta obra foram intencionais, repetitivas, desencadeadas pelo desejo de destruição do outro e, sem motivo aparente, e os alvos, via de regra, eram mais frágeis do que os autores. A análise das hostilidades descritas em O Ateneu, possibilita a elaboração do passado, dando voz ao sofrimento negligenciado, atenuado ou esquecido.
