Screener, a board game supplemented with online resources, was introduced and distributed by the Brazilian Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics to postgraduate programs as an instructional tool for the process of drug discovery and development (DDD). In this study, we provided a comprehensive analysis of five critical aspects for evaluating the quality of educational games, namely: 1) description of the intervention; 2) underlying pedagogical theory; 3) identification of local educational gaps; 4) impact on diverse stakeholders; and 5) elucidation of iterative quality enhancement processes. We also present qualitative and quantitative assessments of the effectiveness of this game in 11 postgraduate courses. We employed the MEEGA+ online survey, comprising thirty-three close-ended unipolar items with 5-point Likert-type response scales, to assess student perceptions of the quality and utility of Screener. Based on 115 responses, the results indicated a highly positive outlook among students. In addition, we performed a preliminary evaluation of learning outcomes in two courses involving 28 students. Pre- and post-quizzes were applied, each consisting of 20 True/False questions directly aligned with the game's content. The analysis revealed significant improvement in students' performance following engagement with the game, with scores rising from 8.4 to 13.3 (P<0.0001, paired t-test) and 9.7 to 12.7 (P<0.0001, paired t-test). These findings underscore the utility of Screener as an enjoyable and effective tool for facilitating a positive learning experience in the DDD process. Notably, the game can also reduce the educational disparities across different regions of our continental country.

The description of the new species for Brazil, Cheilolejeunea savannae L.P. Macedo, Ilk.-Borg. amp; C.J. Bastos, raised the need to review many specimens previously identified as Cheilolejeunea intertexta (Lindenb.) Steph., aiming to refine the concept of this species and its real distribution in Brazil. The present study also resulted in the reinstatement of Cheilolejeunea compacta (Steph.) M.E. Reiner previously considered synonymous with C. intertexta, as a distinct taxon. It also showed that C. savannae has a wider distribution in Brazil and especially in the State of Bahia, compared to C. intertexta and C. compacta. Descriptions and a key to the separation of the three species recognized here are presented.

A descrição da nova espécie para o Brasil, Cheilolejeunea savannae L.P. Macedo, Ilk.-Borg. amp; C.J. Bastos, suscitou a necessidade de rever muitos espécimes identificados previamente como Cheilolejeunea intertexta (Lindenb.) Steph., objetivando o refinamento do conceito desta espécie e a sua real distribuição no Brasil. O presente estudo também resultou no restabelecimento de Cheilolejeunea compacta (Steph.) M.E. Reiner, previamente considerada como sinônimo de C. intertexta, como táxon distinto. Foi demonstrado, também, que C. savannae tem distribuição mais ampla no Brasil e especialmente no Estado da Bahia, comparativamente à C. intertexta e C. compacta. Descrições e uma chave para a separação das três espécies aqui reconhecidas são apresentadas.

Abstract Objective: To assess factors associated with emotional changes and Hyperactivity/Inattention (HI) motivated by COVID-19 quarantine in adolescents with immunocompromising diseases. Methods: A cross-sectional study included 343 adolescents with immunocompromising diseases and 108 healthy adolescents. Online questionnaires were answered including socio-demographic data and self-rated healthcare routine during COVID-19 quarantine and validated surveys: Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory 4.0 (PedsQL4.0). Results: The frequencies of abnormal emotional SDQ scores from adolescents with chronic diseases were similar to those of healthy subjects (110/343 [32%] vs. 38/108 [35%], p = 0.548), as well as abnormal hyperactivity/inattention SDQ scores (79/343 [23%] vs. 29/108 [27%], p = 0.417). Logistic regression analysis of independent variables associated with abnormal emotional scores from adolescents with chronic diseases showed: female sex (Odds Ratio [OR = 3.76]; 95% Confidence Interval (95% CI) 2.00–7.05; p < 0.001), poor sleep quality (OR = 2.05; 95% CI 1.08–3.88; p = 0.028) and intrafamilial violence during pandemic (OR = 2.17; 95% CI 1.12–4.19; p = 0.021) as independently associated with abnormal emotional scores, whereas total PedsQL score was inversely associated with abnormal emotional scores (OR = 0.95; 95% CI 0.93–0.96; p < 0.0001). Logistic regression analysis associated with abnormal HI scores from patients evidenced that total PedsQL score (OR = 0.97; 95% CI 0.95–0.99; p = 0.010], changes in medical appointments during the pandemic (OR = 0.39; 95% CI 0.19–0.79; p = 0.021), and reliable COVID-19 information (OR = 0.35; 95% CI 0.16–0.77; p = 0.026) remained inversely associated with abnormal HI scores. Conclusion: The present study showed emotional and HI disturbances in adolescents with chronic immunosuppressive diseases during the COVID-19 pandemic. It reinforces the need to promptly implement a longitudinal program to protect the mental health of adolescents with and without chronic illnesses during future pandemics.

Abstract Objectives: To evaluate the inconsistency between clinical diagnosis of death and autopsy findings in adolescents with chronic diseases. Methods: A cross-sectional study including a sample of adolescents’ autopsies who died in a pediatric and adolescent tertiary hospital over 18 consecutive years. During this period, there were n = 2912 deaths, and n = 581/2912(20%) occurred in adolescents. Of these, n = 85/581(15%) underwent autopsies and were analyzed. Further results were divided into two groups: Goldman classes I or II (high disagreement between main clinical diagnosis of death and anatomopathological findings, n = 26) and Goldman classes III, IV or V (low or no disagreement between these two parameters, n = 59). Results: Median age at death (13.5 [10‒19] vs. 13 [10‒19] years, p = 0.495) and disease duration (22 [0‒164] vs. 20 [0‒200] months, p = 0.931), and frequencies for males (58% vs. 44%, p = 0.247) were similar between class I/II vs. class III/IV/V. The frequency of pneumonia (73% vs. 48%, p = 0.029), pulmonary abscess (12% vs. 0%, p = 0.026), as well as isolation of yeast (27% vs. 5%, p = 0.008), and virus (15% vs. 2%, p = 0.029) identified in the autopsy, were significantly higher in adolescents with Goldman class I/II compared to those with Goldman class III/IV/V. In contrast, cerebral edema was significantly lower in adolescents of the first group (4% vs. 25%, p = 0.018). Conclusion: This study showed that 30% of the adolescents with chronic diseases had major discrepancies between clinical diagnosis of death and autopsy findings. Pneumonia, pulmonary abscess, as well as isolation of yeast and virus were more frequently identified at autopsy findings in the groups with major discrepancies.

ABSTRACT Malondialdehyde (MDA) is a biomarker of oxidative metabolism, released under situations such as the stretching of atrial myocytes, a fact related to the development of chronic mitral valve disease (MVD) in dogs. This study aimed to evaluate the serum concentration of MDA in dogs at different stages of MVD and correlate it with echocardiographic and radiographic parameters referring to cardiomegaly signs. Thirty-seven dogs were divided into four stages of the disease: GA (n=10), GB1 (n=10), GB2 (n=9), and GC (n=8), following the criteria of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM). Blood was collected by jugular puncture and then the serum was frozen for later measurement of MDA concentration by the spectrophotometry technique. No difference was found in MDA concentration between groups despite the presence of cardiac remodeling in dogs at advanced stages of MVD. Moreover, no significant relationship was observed between MDA values and the studied cardiovascular parameters. Serum MDA showed no variation throughout MVD development even with evidence of its release, with no possibility of demonstrating the relationship between its concentration and the cardiovascular alterations caused by the disease in dogs.

RESUMO Malondialdeído (MDA) é um biomarcador do metabolismo oxidativo, liberado em situações como o estiramento dos miócitos atriais, fato este relacionado ao desenvolvimento da doença valvar mitral crônica (DVM) em cães. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar as concentrações séricas de MDA em cães com diferentes estágios de DVM e correlacionar esses resultados com parâmetros ecocardiográficos e radiográficos referentes aos sinais de cardiomegalia. Foram utilizados 37 cães, divididos em quatro estágios da doença: GA (n=10), GB1 (n=10), GB2 (n=9) e GC (n=8), de acordo com os critérios do Colégio Americano de Medicina Interna Veterinária (ACVIM). O sangue foi colhido por venopunção jugular, sendo então o soro congelado para posterior mensuração da concentração de MDA pela técnica de espectrofotometria. Apesar da presença de remodelamento cardíaco nos cães em estágios avançados de DVM, não houve diferenças entre as concentrações de MDA entre os grupos. Além disso, não houve relação significativa dos valores de MDA com os parâmetros cardiovasculares estudados. Mesmo havendo evidências de suas liberações, o MDA sérico não varia ao longo do desenvolvimento da DVM e suas concentrações não estão relacionadas às alterações cardiovasculares provocadas pela doença em cães.

Resumo A utilização crescente de cetamina para fins terapêuticos e recreativos tem motivado preocupações ao nível ambiental. Esta substância tem sido detetada em efluentes, devido à ineficiência das técnicas aplicadas nas estações de tratamento de águas residuais. Sendo que parte destes efluentes podem ser usados como águas para reutilização em práticas agrícolas, importa perceber os efeitos que a cetamina apresenta em organismos edáficos como as minhocas, facto que constitui o objetivo deste trabalho. Várias concentrações de cetamina (0, 25, 250 e 2500 µg/kg) foram testadas e avaliados os efeitos, através de testes de fuga e reprodução, usando como modelo biológico as minhocas Eisenia fetida, tendo como endpoints o comportamento de fuga e a reprodução, de acordo com as normas da ISO e OECD. Os resultados indicaram ausência de diferenças significativas (p>0,05) entre as concentrações estudadas. Em média, a cetamina promoveu a fuga e a diminuição do número de juvenis na ordem dos 11% e 26%, respetivamente, comparativamente ao tratamento controlo. Estes resultados parecem indicar que as concentrações estudadas não promovem efeitos negativos quer no comportamento como na reprodução, pelo que importa ponderar a realização de mais estudos, nos quais sejam consideradas concentrações superiores às aplicadas no presente trabalho, de modo a definir níveis de risco em ambiente edáfico.

Abstract The increasing use of ketamine for therapeutic and recreational purposes has increased the environmental concerns. This substance has been detected in treated effluents, due to the inefficiency of treatments applied in wastewater treatment plants. Since part of these effluents can be used as water for reuse in agricultural practices, it is important to understand the effects of ketamine on edaphic organisms such as earthworms, which is the objective of the present work. Various concentrations of ketamine (0, 25, 250 and 2500 µg/kg) were tested and the effects evaluate by avoidance and reproduction tests, using Eisenia fetida as a biological model, considered the avoidance behaviour and reproduction as endpoints, according to ISO and OECD guidelines. The results indicated no significant differences (p>0.05) between the concentrations studied. On average, ketamine promoted an escape and a decrease in the number of juveniles in the order of 11% and 26%, respectively, compared to the control treatment. These results seem to indicate no negative effects of the studied concentrations on behaviour and reproduction of earthworms. More studies are needed, with higher concentrations than those applied in the present work in order to define risk levels in edaphic environment.

The objective of this research was to determine the pasture structure, nutritional value, animal behaviour, intake, and performance of Santa Inês sheep grazing pastures with various mixtures of grass (Andropogon gayanus) and forage legume (Stylosanthes sp. and Calopogonium mucunoides). A randomized block design was adopted with the treatments arranged in a 3 x 2 factorial scheme, with the factors consisting of cropping systems and grazing cycles. Grass in the mixed species pastures had a greater leaf/stem ratio than in the monoculture. Total forage mass was greater in the mixed pastures, which had the highest concentrations of crude protein and total digestible nutrients, the lowest fibre concentration, and the highest in vitro dry matter digestibility. Legumes were grazed with the highest frequency, and biting rate was highest in Andropogon gayanus with Stylosanthes sp. The highest intake (kg/day) was found in the mixed swards and the highest animal weight gain (143 g/day) in the mixed pastures. The pastures of Andropogon gayanus mixed with Stylosanthes sp. and C. mucunoides showed improved forage nutritive value and intake compared with the grass monoculture.

RESUMO Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a morfometria ultraestrutural de embriões bovinos produzidos in vitro e cultivados em diferentes concentrações de antioxidantes. Após a maturação e a fertilização in vitro, os possíveis zigotos foram divididos em cinco tratamentos: T1) sem adição de antioxidantes (controle negativo); T2) adição de 50μM/mL de cisteamina; e T3, T4 e T5) adição de 2,5μg/mL, 5,0μg/mL ou 10,0μg/mL dos antioxidantes derivados do extrato oleoso de Lippia origanoides, respectivamente. No D7 de cultivo, os embriões em estágio de blastocisto foram fixados e preparados para microscopia eletrônica de transmissão. Estes foram avaliados para a proporção entre citoplasma e núcleo, citoplasma e mitocôndria, citoplasma e vacúolos, citoplasma e vacúolos autofágicos e citoplasma e gotículas lipídicas. Blastocistos cultivados em meio contendo extrato oleoso de Lippia origanoides apresentaram características morfológicas como alta relação célula:mitocôndria e baixa relação célula:vacúolos e célula:vacúolo autofágico, possíveis indicadores morfológicos de qualidade embrionária. A massa celular interna (MCI) de blastocistos cultivados em meio sem quaisquer antioxidantes teve a maior razão célula:vacúolo. Resultados semelhantes foram encontrados nas células do trofectoderma (TE) de blastocistos do tratamento 2. Portanto, o meio de cultivo embrionário suplementado com antioxidantes derivados do óleo de Lippia origanoides produziu embriões com maior proporção citoplasmática de organelas, como mitocôndrias. Além disso, tratamentos sem antioxidantes ou com adição de cisteamina apresentaram vacuolização citoplasmática, característica relacionada à produção de embriões de baixa qualidade.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the ultrastructural morphometry of bovine embryos produced in vitro grown at different concentrations of antioxidants. After in vitro maturation and fertilization, the presumptive zygotes were assigned into five treatments. T1) without the addition of any antioxidants (negative control); T2) addition of 50μM/mL cysteamine; and T3, T4 and T5) adding 2.5μg/mL, 5.0μg/mL or 10.0μg/mL of the antioxidants derived from the oily extract from Lippia origanoides, respectively. On D7 of culture, the embryos in the blastocyst stage were fixed and prepared for electron transmission microscopy. These were evaluated for the proportion of cytoplasm-to-nucleus, cytoplasm-to-mitochondria, cytoplasm-to-vacuoles, cytoplasm-to-autophagic vacuoles and cytoplasm-to-lipid droplets. Blastocysts cultured in media containing oily extract of Lippia origanoides presented morphological characteristics such as high cell:mitochondria ratio and low cell:vacuoles and cell:autophagic vacuole ratio, possibly been morphological indicators of embryonic quality. Inner cell mass (ICM) from blastocysts cultured in media without any antioxidants had the highest cell:vacuole ratio. Similar results were found in the trophectoderm (TE) cells of blastocysts from treatment 2. Embryo culture media supplemented with antioxidants derived from Lippia origanoides oil produced embryos with a higher cytoplasmic proportion of organelles, such as mitochondria. Also, treatments without any antioxidants or with the addition of cysteamine presented cytoplasmic vacuolization, a characteristic related to production of poor-quality embryos.

RESUMO O objetivo do presente estudo foi descrever a histomorfologia do hepatopâncreas do camarão-de-água-doce Macrobrachium rosenbergii. Observou-se que ele é constituído por um conjunto de túbulos de fundo cego, sendo cada túbulo dividido em regiões proximal, média e distal, com o epitélio formado por cinco tipos de células (E, F, B, R, M), diferentemente de outras espécies. As medidas de comprimento e largura dos túbulos foram de 419,64+69,09µm e 117,42+16,99µm, respectivamente. A porcentagem de cada tipo celular por região foi: região proximal (40%B, 20%F, 6,7%M, 33,3%R), região média (45,4%B, 18,2%F, 9,1%M e 27,3%R) e região distal (36,4%E, 27,2%B, 18,2%F, 9,1%M, 9,1%R). Assim, a B, que armazena glicogênio e lipídeos, é a célula mais encontrada nas regiões proximal e média. Na região distal, a célula E, responsável pela mitose, é a mais encontrada. A célula M, responsável pelo acúmulo de nutrientes, tem um número constante de células nas porções do túbulo, diferentemente do Macrobrachium amazonicum. O estudo também sugere, pela primeira vez, que a célula F produz, além de enzimas digestivas, um muco protetor para o túbulo hepatopancreático. O presente estudo foi o primeiro a gerar um perfil morfométrico do hepatopâncreas do M. rosenbergii e demonstrou diferenças em relação a outras espécies, bem como serviu de importante ferramenta para novos estudos que abranjam a produção, a nutrição e a reprodução para a espécie.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to describe the Macrobrachium rosenbergii hepatopancreas histomorphology. The hepatopancreas is constituted by a set of blind end tubules, divided into proximal, middle, and distal regions, with the epithelium formed by E, F, B, R, and M cells differently of other species. Measurements of the length and width of the tubules were 419.64+69.09µm and 117.42+16.99µm, respectively. The percentage of each cell type per region was: proximal region (40%B, 20%F, 6.7%M, 33.3%R), middle region (45.4%B, 18.2%F, 9.1%M, and 27.3%R) and distal region (36.4%E, 27.2%B, 18.2%F, 9.1%M, 9.1%R). Cell B that stores glycogen and lipids, is the most commonly found cell in proximal and middle regions. In the distal region, the E, responsible for the mitosis, is the most prominent. M, responsible by nutrient storage, is numerically constant among the portions differently in the Macrobrachium amazonicum. The study for the first time also suggests that in addition to digestive enzymes, the F cell produces protective mucus. The present study generated for the first time a morphometric profile of M. rosenbergii hepatopancreas, demonstrating differences from other species, and can be an important tool for new studies in nutrition, reproduction, and production with the species.

RESUMO Uma fêmea, adulta, de ouriço-cacheiro (Coendou spinosus, F. Cuvier, 1823), foi atendida com histórico de trauma medular. No exame neurológico, foi constatada paraplegia com nocicepção preservada e sinais compatíveis com choque espinhal. Exame radiográfico e mielografia apontaram presença de fratura e luxação vertebral torácica entre T10-11. O paciente foi submetido à técnica de estabilização vertebral segmentar modificada, com pinos de Steinmann e fios de cerclagem. A técnica utilizada mostrou-se eficaz na estabilização da fratura/luxação vertebral e na recuperação dos sinais neurológicos. O paciente apresentou recuperação progressiva da deambulação. Para o conhecimento dos autores, este é o primeiro relato utilizando estabilização vertebral segmentar modificada para o tratamento de fratura/luxação vertebral torácica em Coendou spinosus.

ABSTRACT An female, adult Paraguayan hairy dwarf porcupine (Coendou spinosus, F. Cuvier, 1823) was referred to the Veterinary Hospital with clinical history of spinal cord injury. In the neurological examination, paraplegia with preserved nociception compatible with signs of spinal shock were observed. Radiographic and myelographic examinations showed evidence of a vertebral dislocation and fracture between the 10th and 11th thoracic vertebrae. The patient underwent surgical stabilization of the lesion using the modified segmental vertebral stabilization technique with Steinmann pins and cerclage wires. Under the conditions reported in this case, the technique was effective in stabilizing vertebral fracture/dislocation and in recovering neurological functions. The patient presented progressive recovery from ambulation. To the authors’ knowledge, this is the first case report that performed modified segment stabilization for thoracic vertebral fracture/luxation treatment in Coendou spinosus.

Abstract Objectives: The aim of the present study was to analyze and correlate muscle strength of the back and front squat with performance in the movements of weightlifting snatch and the clean in CrossFit® practitioners. Method: Twenty-two adults participated in this study and were divided according to their performance in the snatch and clean movements: stronger (29.6 ± 4.4 years; 80.95 ± 9.57 kg; 12.2 ± 5.8% body fat; 2.4 ± 0.9 training experience) and weaker (28.5 ± 5.4 years; 79.4 ± 6.8 kg; 13.6 ± 3.5% body fat; 2.0 ± 1.1 training experience). All volunteers completed one-repetition maximum tests, in separate days, in the following exercises: back squat, front squat, snatch and the first phase of the clean. Results: The volunteers classified with a superior performance in the snatch and clean presented a higher strength in the back squat (154.9 ± 20.3 kg vs 132.7 ± 11.6 kg; p = 0.009) and front squat (139.0 ± 14.5 kg vs 116.8 ± 11.3 kg; p = 0.002) as compared with the weaker volunteers. Additionally, there were strong correlations between relative strength in the back squat (r = 0.83; r = 0.76; p = 0.001) and front squat (r = 0.73; r = 0.83; p = 0.001) with the performance in the snatch and clean exercises, respectively. Conclusions: Therefore, a superior strength in basic exercises, such as back and front squat can contribute to weightlifting performance in CrossFit® practitioners.

Resumo Objetivos: O objetivo do presente estudo foi analisar e relacionar a força muscular do back squat e front squat com o desempenho nos movimentos de levantamento olímpico snatch e clean em praticantes de CrossFit®. Método: Participaram deste estudo 22 adultos, que foram divididos de acordo com o desempenho nos movimentos de snatch e clean: fortes (29.6 ± 4.4 anos; 80.95 ± 9.57 kg; 12.2 ± 5.8% de gordura; 2.4 ± 0.9 experiência de treinamento) e fracos (28.5 ± 5.4 anos; 79.4 ± 6.8 kg; 13.6 ± 3.5% de gordura; 2.0 ± 1.1 experiência de treinamento). Todos os voluntários realizaram em dias separados os testes de uma repetição máxima nos exercícios: back squat, front squat, snatch e clean. Resultados: Os voluntários classificados com o melhor desempenho no snatch e clean apresentaram maior força no back squat (154.9 ± 20.3 kg vs. 132.7 ± 11.6 kg; p = 0.009) e no front squat(139.0 ± 14.5 kg vs. 116.8 ± 11.3 kg; p = 0.002), quando comparados aos voluntários mais fracos. Além disso, foram observadas correlações fortes entre a força relativa do back squat (r = 0.83; r = 0.76; p = 0.001) e do front squat (r = 0.73; r = 0.83; p = 0.001) com a performance nos exercícios snatch e clean, respectivamente. Conclusões: Portanto, uma força superior em exercícios básicos, como o back squat e o front squat, podem contribuir para o desempenho do levantamento olímpico em praticantes de CrossFit®.

Resumen Objetivo: El propósito del presente estudio fue analizar y relacionar la fuerza muscular de la sentadilla por delante y por detrás con el rendimiento en los movimientos de halterofilia de arranque y de cargada en practicantes de CrossFit®. Método: Participaron en este estudio 22 adultos que fueron divididos de acuerdo con el rendimiento en los movimientos de arranque y cargada: fuertes (29.6 ± 4.4 años; 80.95 ± 9.57 kg; 12.2 ± 5.8% de grasa corporal; 2.4 ± 0.9 experiencia de entrenamiento) y débiles (28.5 ± 5.4 años; 79.4 ± 6.8 kg; 13.6 ± 3.5% de grasa corporal; 2.0 ± 1.1 experiencia de entrenamiento). Todos los voluntarios realizaron, en días diferentes, los test de una repetición máxima en los ejercicios: sentadilla por detrás, sentadilla por delante, arranque y cargada. Resultados: Los voluntarios clasificados con el mejor rendimiento en el arranque y en la cargada presentaron mayor fuerza en la sentadilla por detrás (154.9 ± 20.3 kg vs. 132.7 ± 11.6 kg; p = 0.009) y en la sentadilla por delante (139.0 ± 14.5 kg vs. 116.8 ± 11.3 kg; p = 0.002) cuando fueron comparados con los voluntarios más débiles. Además, se observaron correlaciones fuertes entre la fuerza relativa de la sentadilla por detrás (r = 0.83; r = 0.76; p = 0.001) y la sentadilla por delante (r = 0.73; r = 0.83; p = 0.001) con el rendimiento en los ejercicios de arranque y cargada, respectivamente. Conclusión: Por tanto, una mayor fuerza en ejercicios básicos, como la sentadilla por detrás y por delante, pueden contribuir para el rendimiento de los ejercicios olímpicos en practicantes de CrossFit®.

Abstract Objective: To compare the acute psychobiological and perceptual responses in normotensive and hypertensive men after resistance training sessions with different levels of social interaction: manual resistance training and free weights resistance training. Method: 26 men (14 normotensive, 40.29 ± 8.63 years, Body Mass Index: 26.53 ± 5.24 kg/m2; 12 hypertensive, 46.00 ± 9.13 years, Body Mass Index: 32.51 ± 4. 41 kg/m2) underwent single sessions of manual resistance training and free weights resistance training. Anxiety and mood were measured in pre- and post-intervention. In addition, a questionnaire was applied to identify positive and negative points of the interventions. For data analysis, we used two-way ANOVA and post-hoc Bonferroni. The significance level adopted was 5%. For anxiety and mood it was also used analysis of effect size. The analysis of the qualitative questionnaire considered the frequency of positive and negative points reported by the volunteers. Results: Both intervention was ineffective in significantly decreasing the initial values of anxiety; however the manual resistance training showed greater magnitude of decrease in effect size. In the negative factors of mood, the manual resistance training also provided greater magnitudes to decrease in effect size. The manual resistance training had more positive and less negative points mentioned by the sample relative to free weights resistance training. Conclusion: Social interaction level appears to positively influence the acute psychobiological responses of resistance training, and the manual resistance training appears to be a viable alternative for this purpose.

Resumo Objetivo: Comparar respostas psicobiológicas e perceptuais agudas em homens normotensos e hipertensos, após sessões de treinamento resistido com diferentes níveis de interação social: treinamento resistido manual e treinamento resistido com pesos livres. Método: Vinte e seis homens (14 normotensos, 40.29 ± 8.63 anos, índice de massa corporal: 26.53 ± 5.24 kg/m2; 12 hipertensos, 46.00 ± 9.13 anos, índice de massa corporal: 32.51 ± 4.41 kg/m2) foram submetidos a sessões únicas de treinamento resistido manual e treinamento resistido com pesos livres. Foram aferidos ansiedade e humor nos momentos pré e pós-intervenção. Adicionalmente, foi aplicado um questionário para identificar pontos positivos e negativos das intervenções. Para análise dos resultados, utilizou-se ANOVA two-way e post-hoc de Bonferroni. Adotou-se nível de significância de 5%. Para ansiedade e humor, também foi utilizada análise do tamanho do efeito. A análise do questionário qualitativo considerou a frequência de pontos positivos e negativos relatados pelos voluntários. Resultados: Nenhuma intervenção foi eficiente em diminuir significativamente os valores iniciais de ansiedade; no entanto, o treinamento resistido manual apresentou maior magnitude de diminuição no tamanho do efeito. Nos fatores negativos do humor, o treinamento resistido manual também proporcionou maiores magnitudes para diminuição no tamanho do efeito. O treinamento resistido manual teve mais pontos positivos e menos pontos negativos mencionados pela amostra, em relação ao treinamento resistido com pesos livres. Conclusão: O nível de interação social parece influenciar positivamente as respostas psicobiológicas agudas do treinamento resistido, e o treinamento resistido manual parece ser uma alternativa viável para esse objetivo.

Resumen Objetivo: Comparar las respuestas psicobiológicas y percepcionales agudas en hombres normotensos e hipertensos, después de sesiones de entrenamiento de fuerza con diferentes niveles de interacción social: entrenamiento de fuerza manual y con pesos libres. Método: Veintiséis hombres (14 normotensos, 40.29 ± 8.63 años, índice de masa corporal: 26.53 ± 5.24 kg/m2; 12 hipertensos, 46.00 ± 9.13 años, índice de masa corporal: 32.51 ± 4.41 kg/m2) fueron sometidos a sesiones individuales de entrenamiento de fuerza manual y con pesos libres. Se midieron la ansiedad y el estado de ánimo antes y después de la intervención. Además, se aplicó un cuestionario para identificar los puntos positivos y negativos de las intervenciones. Para el análisis de los datos, se utilizó ANOVA de dos vías y el test de Bonferroni. Se adoptó un nivel de significación del 5%. Para ansiedad y el estado de ánimo también se utilizó el análisis del tamaño del efecto. El análisis del cuestionario cualitativo consideró la frecuencia de puntos positivos y negativos reportados por los voluntarios. Resultados: La intervención no fue eficaz en la disminución significativa de los valores iniciales de ansiedad, sin embargo, el entrenamiento de fuerza manual mostró una mayor magnitud de la disminución en el tamaño del efecto. En los factores negativos del estado de ánimo y, el entrenamiento de fuerza manual también proporcionó mayores magnitudes en la disminución del tamaño del efecto. El entrenamiento de fuerza manual tenía más puntos positivos y menos negativos mencionados por la muestra en relación con entrenamiento de fuerza con pesos libres. Conclusión: El nivel de interacción social parece influir positivamente en las respuestas psicobiológicas agudas al entrenamiento de fuerza y el entrenamiento de fuerza manual parece ser una alternativa viable para este propósito.

RESUMO O presente trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de desenvolver um método para a determinação de CMP em leite UAT por meio da aplicação da espectroscopia de infravermelho próximo. Leites UAT de oito marcas diferentes foram utilizados para a construção dos modelos de calibração. Os resultados demonstram que, para o desenvolvimento de um modelo de calibração adequado para a determinação de CMP em leite UAT, deve-se utilizar, juntamente com o método de regressão PLS, o método de seleção de espectros máxima distância e os pré-tratamentos 2ª derivada e variável normal padronizada. Além disso, pôde-se determinar que as regiões do infravermelho próximo mais correlacionadas com os movimentos vibracionais dos aminoácidos presentes no CMP foram: 1100-1310; 1400-1430; 1490-1550; 1640-1680; 1780-1970; 2020-2100 e 2310-2350nm. Conclui-se que a espectroscopia de infravermelho próximo pode ser uma alternativa para a determinação de CMP em leite UAT, desde que haja um conjunto de calibração com amostras representativas da população a ser predita no futuro.

ABSTRACT This work´s objective was to develop an UHT milk caseinomacropeptide determination method trough NIR spectroscopy application. Eight UHT milk trademarks are used to produce a mathematical calibration model. The results of NIR analysis suggested that to produce a suitable calibration model, partial least-square regression (PLSR) must be used, with maximum distance in wavelenght space to select spectra, pre - treatment with 2nd derivative and standard normal variant (SNV). Also, suitable near-infrared regions more correlated with CPM aminoacids vibrational movements: 1100-1310; 1400-1430; 1490-1550; 1640-1680; 1780-1970; 2020-2100; and 2310-2350nm. Therefore, NIR spectroscopy can be an alternative to caseinomacropeptide determination of UHT milk, since there was a representative calibration set with a large enough and representative sample of entire population to be predicted in the future.
