RESUMO: Esta pesquisa avaliou os efeitos da irrigação no crescimento e na produtividade da mandioca irrigada nos Tabuleiros Costeiros alagoanos. O plantio foi feito em blocos casualizados, com seis tratamentos e quatro repetições. Os tratamentos foram níveis de irrigação em função da evapotranspiração da cultura - ETC (L0 = 0% (sequeiro), L1 = 40%, L2 = 80%, L3 = 120%, L4 = 160% e L5 = 200% da ETC). A lâmina total foi definida como o total da irrigação mais a chuva efetiva. A evapotranspiração anual da cultura da mandioca nos Tabuleiros Costeiros de Alagoas é 1.030 mm. O crescimento das plantas aumentou significativamente com a irrigação e os valores máximos das seguintes variáveis são: índice de área foliar = 7,6; comprimento de raízes comerciais = 49 cm; produtividades (física e econômica) máximas de raízes comerciais = 94 t ha-1 e biomassa total = 149 t ha-1 e o índice de colheita = 0,66, todos obtidos com lâminas de irrigação totais (chuva efetiva mais irrigação) entre 817 e 963 mm. Por fim, ratifica-se que entender o crescimento, as produtividades agrícola e economicamente viáveis da mandioca irrigada, é fator indispensável para se fazer um bom manejo da cultura, principalmente, em regiões com irregularidade de chuvas como o nordeste brasileiro.

ABSTRACT: This research evaluated the effects of the irrigation on growth and productivity of irrigated cassava in the Coastal Plateaus of Alagoas. The planting was done in randomized blocks, with six treatments and four replications. The treatments were irrigation levels in function of crop evapotranspiration - ETC (L0 = 0% (rainfed), L1 = 40%, L2 = 80%, L3 = 120%, L4 = 160% and L5 = 200% of ETC). The total water applied was defined as the total irrigation plus the effective rain. The annual evapotranspiration of the cassava plantations in the Costal Plateaus of Alagoas, was 1,030 mm. Plant growth increased significantly with irrigation and the maximum values of the following variables are: leaf area index = 7.6, length of commercial roots = 49 cm, maximum productivity (physical and economic) of commercial roots = 94 Mg ha-1 and total biomass = 149 Mg ha-1 and the harvest index = 0.66, all obtained with total irrigation depths (effective rain plus irrigation) between 817 and 963 mm. Finally, it is ratified that understanding the growth, the agricultural and economically viable productivity of irrigated cassava, is an indispensable factor for good management of the crop, especially in regions with irregular rainfall such as the Northeast of Brazil.

RESUMO O consumo hídrico de uma cultura é uma das principais informações necessárias para o manejo adequado da irrigação e um plano eficiente de uso da água. O objetivo deste trabalho foi encontrar o coeficiente de consumo de água para cultura da cenoura, comparando métodos de evapotranspiração de referência para a região agreste de Alagoas. O experimento foi realizado no Campus Arapiraca da Universidade Federal de Alagoas, localizado na mesorregião Agreste do Estado. Foram utilizados cinco lisímetros de drenagem, com uma área de superfície de 0,07 m2, em que a determinação da evapotranspiração da cultura foi realizada diariamente, por meio de coletas de água dos drenos, obtidas diretamente dos lisímetros de drenagem. O coeficiente de cultivo foi calculado pela relação entre evapotranspiração da cultura e a de referência. Ao mesmo tempo, realizou-se uma análise comparativa dos modelos matemáticos de estimativa de evapotranspiração de referência utilizando os seguintes métodos: Penman-Monteith, Hargreaves-Samani, Radiação Solar, Blaney-Criddle e Priestley-Taylor. Os coeficientes de cultivo para a cultura da cenoura, recomendados para a região são: 0,46; 1,3; 1,3 e 1,03, para as fases I, II, III e IV, respectivamente, obtidos pelo método padrão. Os valores de evapotranspiração de referência obtidos pelo método Priestley-Taylor apresentaram os melhores desempenhos para os métodos estatísticos estudados e, na ausência das variáveis necessárias para se determinar a evapotranspiração de referência pelo método padrão, ele pode ser usado na região estudada.

ABSTRACT The water consumption of a crop is one of the main information required for proper irrigation management and to develop an efficient water usage plan. The objective of this work was to find a coefficient of water consumption for carrot crop, comparing methods of reference evapotranspiration for the Agreste region of Alagoas. The experiment was carried out at the Arapiraca Campus of the Federal University of Alagoas, located in the Agreste mesoregion of the state of Alagoas. Five drainage lysimeters were used with a surface area of 0.07 m2, on which the determination of crop evapotranspiration was performed daily, through the collection of water of the drains obtained directly from drainage lysimeters. The cultivation coefficient was calculated by the relation between crop evapotranspiration and reference evapotranspiration. At the same time, a comparative analysis of the mathematical models of reference evapotranspiration estimation was carried out using the following methods: Penman-Monteith, Hargreaves-Samani, Solar Radiation Blaney-Criddle, and Priestley-Taylor. The cultivation coefficients for carrot crop recommended for the region are 0.46, 1.3, 1.3, and 1.03 for phases I, II, III, and IV, respectively, by the standard method. The values of reference evapotranspiration obtained by the Priestley-Taylor method presented the best performances for the statistical methods studied, and in the absence of the necessary variables to determine the reference evapotranspiration by the standard method, it can be used for the studied region.
