ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate autoinflammatory diseases (AID) according to age at diagnosis and sex, and response to therapy in a large population. Methods: This is a cross-sectional observational study of a Latin American registry using a designed web system for data storage, collected between 2015 and 2018. Any altered findings during follow-up were recorded. The forms were translated into Portuguese and Spanish, including demographic, clinical, laboratory, genetic and treatment characteristics. Results: We included 152 patients, 51.3% male and 75% Caucasian. The median age at disease onset was 2.1 years (0–15.6 years) and median age at diagnosis 6.9 years (0–21.9 years); 111 (73%) were children (0–9 years old), and 41 (27%) were adolescents and young adults (AYA) (10–21 years old). Periodic fever, aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis, and adenitis syndrome (PFAPA) occurred in 46/152 (30%), chronic non-bacterial osteomyelitis (CNO) in 32/152 (21%), and familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) in 24/152 (15.7%). PFAPA was significantly higher in young children than in AYA (38.7% vs. 7.3%, p<0.001), while CNO were lower (13.5% vs. 41.5%, p<0.001). The frequency of females was significantly higher in CNO (28.4% vs. 14.1%, p=0.031) and lower in FMF (8.1% vs. 23.1%, p=0.011). The most used drugs were glucocorticoids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), and colchicine. Glucocorticoids and colchicine treatment were used in all AID with good to moderate response. However, cryopyrin-associated periodic syndromes (CAPS) seemed unresponsive to glucocorticoids. NSAIDs and methotrexate were the main medications used to treat CNO. Conclusions: Differences among AID patients were observed in the LA population regarding sex and age at disease diagnosis.

RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar as doenças autoinflamatórias (DAI) de acordo com sexo e idade no momento do diagnóstico e a resposta terapêutica em uma grande população. Métodos: Este é um estudo observacional transversal de um registro latino-americano que usou um sistema de dados coletados entre 2015 e 2018. Quaisquer achados alterados ao longo do acompanhamento foram registrados. Os formulários foram traduzidos para os idiomas português e espanhol, incluindo características demográficas, clínicas, laboratoriais, genéticas e de tratamento. Resultados: Incluímos 152 pacientes, sendo 51,3% do sexo masculino e 75% da raça branca. A média de idade de início da doença foi de 2,1 anos (0–15,6 anos) e a média de idade de diagnóstico 6,9 anos (0–21,9 anos); 111 (73%) eram crianças (0–9 anos) e 41 (27%) adolescentes/adultos jovens (10–21 anos). A síndrome de febre periódica, estomatite aftosa, faringite e adenite (PFAPA) ocorreu em 46/152 (30%), osteomielite não bacteriana crônica (CNO) em 32/152 (21%) e febre familiar do Mediterrâneo (FMF) em 24/152 (15,7%). A PFAPA foi significativamente maior em crianças pequenas (38,7 vs. 7,3%, p<0,001), e a CNO, em adolescentes/adultos jovens (13,5 vs. 41,5%, p<0,001). A frequência do sexo feminino foi significativamente maior na CNO (28,4 vs. 14,1%, p=0,031) e menor na FMF (8,1 vs. 23,1%, p=0,011). Os medicamentos mais utilizados foram glicocorticoides, anti-inflamatórios não esteroidais (AINE) e colchicina. O tratamento com glicocorticoides e colchicina foi usado em todas as DAI com resposta boa a moderada. No entanto, as síndromes periódicas associadas à criopirina (CAPS) pareciam não responder aos glicocorticoides. AINE e metotrexato foram os principais medicamentos utilizados no tratamento da CNO. Conclusões: Diferenças de pacientes com DAI foram observadas na população latino-americana em pacientes agrupados por sexo e idade ao diagnóstico da doença.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Delirium is an acute mental status change, with fluctuating course and high incidence in cardiac surgery (CS) post-operative (PO) period. Delirium can lead to short and long-term consequences. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of delirium and pain and their risk factors on the 1st PO day after CS. METHODS: This was a cross-sectional analytical research. To determine the presence of PO delirium, the Confusion Assessment Method modified for Intensive Care Unit setting (CAM-ICU) and the Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale (RASS) were used. PO pain was analyzed using the Visual Analogue Pain Scale (VAS) and the presence of neuropathic components was analyzed using the Leeds Assessment of Neuropathic Symptoms and Signs (LANSS) scale. After bedside analysis, patients were divided into Delirium (D) and Without Delirium (WD) groups. RESULTS: The total number of patients was 79. The prevalence of delirium was 16.5% (95% CI = 9.06 - 26.49%) and the mean number of comorbidities in the preoperative period was a significant risk factor for the occurrence of delirium (D =4.15±2.37 versus WD=2.96±1.78, p: 0.04). Another significant risk factor was the group older than 65 years of age, with the occurrence of delirium 1.45 times higher (PR=1.12-1.88, p: 0.0014). Regarding pain evaluation, 72.15% (95% CI 60.93 - 81.65%) reported it in the 1st PO day. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of delirium was similar to previous studies. The number of previous comorbidities and advanced age were risk factors for delirium. Pain was present predominantly over the sternotomy incision region.

RESUMO JUSTIFICATIVA E OBJETIVOS: Delirium é uma alteração aguda do estado mental, com curso flutuante e alta incidência no pós-operatório (PO) de cirurgia cardíaca (CC). O delirium pode levar a consequências a curto e longo prazo. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a prevalência de delirium e dor e seus fatores de risco no 1º dia PO após CC. MÉTODOS: Trata-se de um estudo transversal analítico. Para determinar delirium no PO, foram utilizados o Confusion Assessment Method modificado para ambiente de Unidade de Terapia Intensiva (CAM-UTI) e a Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale (RASS). A dor PO foi analisada por meio da Escala Analógica Visual (EAV) e a presença de componentes neuropáticos foi analisada por meio da Escala de Avaliação de Sintomas e Sinais Neuropáticos de Leeds (LANSS). Após análise, os pacientes foram divididos nos grupos Delirium (D) e Sem Delirium (SD). RESULTADOS: Foram estudados 79 pacientes. A prevalência de delirium foi de 16,5% (IC 95%=9,06-26,49%) e o número médio de comorbidades no pré-operatório foi um fator de risco significativo para a ocorrência de delirium (D=4,15±2,37 versus SD=2,96±1,78, p: 0,04). Outro fator de risco foi o grupo com mais de 65 anos, com ocorrência de delirium 1,45 vezes maior (RP=1,12-1,88, p: 0,0014). Em relação à avaliação da dor, 72,15% (IC 95% 60,93-81,65%) a relataram no 1º dia PO. CONCLUSÃO: A prevalência de delirium foi semelhante à de estudos anteriores. O número de comorbidades prévias e a idade avançada foram fatores de risco para delirium. A dor estava presente predominantemente na região da incisão da esternotomia.

ABSTRACT The selection of lima bean accessions in the fresh and dry stages is an excellent tool to increase crop yield in Brazil and ensure a source of vegetable protein for the population. Principal component analysis and nonparametric indices can be used to identify promising accessions based on the desired agronomic variables. The aim of the present study was to select accessions from traditional lima bean varieties in the fresh and dry stages using principal component analysis and nonparametric selection indices. The experiment consisted of a randomized block design, evaluating 13 treatments in four replicates. The experimental plot contained 20 plants in its study area. The first two principal components for the two stages explained more than 80% of the variation found among the accessions. The Mulamba & Mock and Genotype-Ideotype selection indices were efficient in classifying promising varieties for breeding programs. The UFPI 1111 accession can be used in fresh lima bean production, and its UFPI 1248 and 1294 counterparts in lima bean breeding programs.

RESUMO A seleção de acessos de feijão-fava nos estádios verde e seco é uma excelente ferramenta para aumentar a produtividade da cultura no país e garantir uma fonte de proteína vegetal para a população. O uso de componentes principais e índices de seleção não-paramétricos podem ser utilizados para identificar acessos promissores com base em características agronômicas desejáveis. O objetivo do presente estudo foi selecionar acessos de variedades crioulas de feijão-fava nos estádios frescos e secos utilizando componentes principais e índices de seleção não paramétricos. O experimento foi disposto em delineamento em blocos casualizados, sendo avaliados 13 tratamentos em quatro repetições. A parcela experimental conteve 20 plantas em sua área útil. Os dois primeiros componentes principais, para os dois estádios, explicaram mais de 80% da variação encontrada entre os acessos. Os índices de seleção de Mulamba & Mock e Genótipo-Ideótipo foram eficientes na classificação de variedades promissoras para programas de melhoramento. O acesso UFPI 1111 pode ser direcionado para a produção de fava verde, e os acessos UFPI 1248 e UFPI 1294 podem ser utilizados para programas de melhoramento de fava seca.

ABSTRACT Purpose: To evaluate the effect of the standardized laparoscopic simulation training program in pyeloplasty, following its implementation and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Material and Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre, a tertiary referral center in south Brazil, in which 151 patients underwent laparoscopic pyeloplasty performed by residents between 2006-2021. They were divided into three groups: before and after adoption of a standardized laparoscopic simulation training program and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The main outcome was a combined negative outcome of conversion to open surgery, major postoperative complications (Clavien-Dindo III or higher) or unsuccessful procedure, defined as need for redo pyeloplasty. Results: There was a significant reduction in the combined negative outcome (21.1% vs 6.3%), surgical time (mean 200.0 min vs 177.4 min) and length of stay (median 5 days vs 3 days) after the adoption of simulation training program. These results were maintained during the COVID-19 pandemic (combined negative outcome of 6.3%, mean surgical time of 160.1 min and median length of stay of 3 days) despite a reduction in 55.4% of the surgical volume. Conclusion: A structured laparoscopic simulation program can improve outcomes of laparoscopic pyeloplasty during the learning curve.

Abstract Law nº 13.769/2018, upon altering the Code of Criminal Procedure, regulates house arrest for pregnant women or for mothers responsible for children or the disabled. This research was dedicated to observing the construction of juridical meaning in the context of a very exceptional situation by way of Habeas Corpus (HC) in the appeal for house arrest in cases of pregnancy and imprisoned mothers with children less than 12 years of age. This demarcation has led us to a set of 122 decisions by the Supreme Justice Tribunal (STJ) and 3 by the Supreme Federal Court (STF), all sentencing having occurred between December 20, 2018 and December 19, 2019, representing the first year of validity for Law nº 13.769/2018. The decisions were collected from the electronic sites of the STJ and STF, using the following entries for searching: “13.769”, “situation” and “very exceptional”, “remand” and “house arrest”. The data was distributed onto an Excel spreadsheet and analyzed under the theoretical-methodological perspective of communicativation. The analysis treated methodological elements applied in empirical research on sentencing and the construction of juridical meaning and authorship, where rapporteur, vote and unanimity were not taken as transmitters of information and decisions, but as pertaining to wordings. The study made viable reflections that indicate the necessity for distancing from causal logic, at the same time promoting the application of reflexive circular logic, as proposed by the communicativationist perspective. What one stresses here is the impossibility of empirical research on juridical decision without transdisciplinary reflection. As for juridical meaning, we observe that it is not suited to a fixed meaning, but rather a constant process of construction, reconstruction and deconstruction of meaning. Observation reveals that three deliberations (drug trafficking at the residence, noncompliance with previous house arrest and participation in organized crime), having induced the construction of meaning in the direction of a very exceptional situation, are not contained in the legal text, nor in any judicial precedent, independent of their first-time application, non-application or reapplication. Finally, as a result of observing that within the same proceedings the same minister, whilst rapporteur votes for house arrest and whilst not rapporteur votes against it, we consider that it is not fitting to maintain authorship as though it would be responsible for the establishment of meaning. Preceding this, the juridical meaning of something is made and unmade due to juridical communication itself, not due to the author. The study, with these contributions, reveals how important and necessary it is to develop methodological and epistemological reflections about studies on juridical decision.

Resumo A Lei nº 13.769/2018, que altera o Código de Processo Penal, regula a prisão domiciliar da mulher gestante ou que for mãe ou responsável por crianças ou pessoas com deficiência. Esta pesquisa foi dedicada a observar a construção do sentido jurídico de situação excepcionalíssima por meio de Habeas Corpus (HC) que requereram a prisão domiciliar de gestantes e mães presas com filhos menores de 12 anos. Essa delimitação levou a termos por corpora 122 decisões do Superior Tribunal de Justiça (STJ) e 3 do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF), todas prolatadas entre 20 de dezembro de 2018 a 19 de dezembro de 2019, primeiro ano de vigência da Lei nº 13.769/2018. As decisões foram coletadas dos sítios eletrônicos do STJ e do STF, usando por verbetes de busca: “13.769”, “situação e excepcionalíssima”, “preventiva pela domiciliar” e “prisão domiciliar”. Os dados foram lançados em planilha de Excel e analisados sob a perspectiva teórico-metodológica da comunicativação. A análise tratou dos elementos metodológicos aplicados em pesquisa empírica com decisão jurídica, da construção de sentido jurídico e da autoria, quando o relator, o voto, a unanimidade foram tomados, não como transmissores de informações e decisões, mas como referentes de enunciados. A pesquisa viabilizou reflexões que indicam a necessidade de se promover um afastamento da lógica causal e a aplicação da lógica circular reflexiva, como propõe a perspectiva comunicativacionista, além da impossibilidade de pesquisa empírica com decisão jurídica se não transdisciplinar. Quanto ao sentido jurídico, observamos que não cabe falar em sentido fixado, mas sim em processo constante de construção, reconstrução, desconstrução de sentido, é o que observamos ao constatar que os três argumentos (tráfico de drogas exercido na residência, descumprimento de prisão domiciliar anterior e participação em organização criminosa) que impulsionam a construção de sentido de situação excepcionalíssima não estão contidos no texto legal, nem em qualquer precedente judicial, bem como que eles foram aplicados, não aplicados e reaplicados. Por fim, ao observar que um mesmo ministro, numa mesma sessão, quando é relator vota pela concessão da prisão domiciliar e quanto não é relator vota contrário a ela, consideramos que não cabe manter a autoria como se responsabilidade por estabelecer sentido, antes, o sentido jurídico de algo se faz e se desfaz devido à comunicação jurídica mesma, não devido ao/à autor/a. A pesquisa, com essas contribuições, revela quão importante e necessário se faz desenvolver reflexões metodológicas e epistemológicas sobre pesquisa com decisão jurídica.

Abstract Background Performing motor evaluations using videoconferencing for patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) is safe and feasible. However, the feasibility of these evaluations is not adequately studied in resource-limited settings. Objective To evaluate the feasibility of performing motor evaluations for patients with PD in a resource-limited setting. Methods The examiners rated motor aspects of parkinsonism of 34 patients with PD from the Brazilian public healthcare system through telemedicine with the patient’s own means by using the Movement Disorder Society-Sponsored Revision of the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) rating scale. Quality measures of the video meeting were also obtained. The feasibility of rating the motor aspects was the primary outcome whereas the rating of individual motor aspects, video meeting quality and predictors of a complete evaluation served as secondary outcomes. Results The least assessable parameters were freezing of gait (52.9%), gait (70.6%), leg agility, and rest tremor (both 76.5%). Complete MDS-UPDRS part III was possible in 41.2% of patients and 62 out of 374 motor aspects evaluated (16.6%) were missed. Available physical space for a video evaluation was the worst quality measure. Incomplete evaluations were directly associated with disability (p = 0.048, r = 0.34) and inversely with available physical space (p = 0.003, r = 0.55). Conclusion A significant portion of the MDS-UPDRS part III is unable to be performed during telemedicine-based evaluations in a real-life scenario of a resource-limited setting.

Resumo Antecedentes Realizar avaliações motoras usando videoconferência para pacientes com doença de Parkinson (DP) é seguro e viável. Entretanto, a viabilidade dessas avaliações não é adequadamente estudada em cenários com recursos limitados. Objetivo Identificar a viabilidade de realizar avaliações motoras para pacientes com DP em um ambiente com recursos limitados. Métodos Os examinadores avaliaram os aspectos motores da DP de 34 pacientes do sistema público de saúde brasileiro através da telemedicina com os próprios meios do paciente usando a escala Movement Disorder Society-Sponsored Revision of the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS). Medidas de qualidade da videochamada também foram obtidas. A viabilidade da classificação dos aspectos motores foi o resultado primário, enquanto a classificação dos aspectos motores individuais, a qualidade das videoconferências e os preditores de uma avaliação completa serviram como resultados secundários. Resultados Os parâmetros menos avaliáveis foram congelamento da marcha (52,9%), marcha (70,6%), agilidade dos membros inferiores e tremor de repouso (ambos 76,5%). A parte III completa da MDS-UPDRS foi possível em 41,2% dos pacientes, mas não foi possível avaliar 62 do total de 374 aspectos motores (16,6%). O espaço físico disponível para uma avaliação em vídeo foi a pior medida de qualidade. As avaliações incompletas foram diretamente associadas ao nível de dependência (p = 0,048, r = 0,34) e inversamente ao espaço físico disponível (p = 0,003, r = 0,55). Conclusão Uma porção significativa da parte III da MDS-UPDRS é perdida durante as avaliações baseadas em telemedicina em um cenário da vida real com recursos limitados.

RESUMO OBJETIVO Estimar a soroprevalência de anticorpos do vírus SARS-CoV-2 em escolares de quatro a 14 anos de idade residentes no município de São Paulo, segundo variáveis clínicas, demográficas, epidemiológicas e sociais, durante o período de fechamento das escolas como medida de controle da covid-19. MÉTODOS Realizou-se um inquérito sorológico em setembro de 2020 com amostra aleatória estratificada por tipo de rede de ensino (pública municipal, pública estadual e privada). Foi coletada amostra de sangue venoso utilizando-se o teste de imunoensaio de fluxo lateral da fabricante Wondfo para detecção de anticorpos totais contra o vírus SARS-CoV-2. Aplicaram-se questionários semiestruturados para o levantamento de dados clínicos, demográficos, sociais e epidemiológicos. RESULTADOS A soroprevalência de anticorpos do vírus SARS-CoV-2 em escolares foi de 16,6% (IC95% 15,4–17,8). O estudo encontrou soroprevalências mais elevadas na rede pública municipal (18,5%; IC95% 16,6–20,6) e estadual (16,2%; IC95% 14,4–18,2) em relação à rede privada (11,7; IC95% 10,0–13,7) e entre escolares da raça/cor preta e parda (18,4%; IC95% 16,8–20,2) e no estrato social mais vulnerável (18,5%; IC95% 16,9–20,2). A pesquisa identificou menores soroprevalências nos escolares que relataram seguir as medidas recomendadas de proteção contra a covid-19. CONCLUSÃO A soroprevalência de anticorpos contra o vírus SARS-CoV-2 atinge principalmente os escolares socialmente mais vulneráveis. Este estudo pode contribuir para embasar políticas públicas que reforcem a importância da suspensão das aulas presenciais e da necessidade de estratégias de medidas de proteção e acompanhamento do status sorológico daqueles que ainda não foram contemplados no calendário vacinal.

ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE To estimate seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in schoolchildren aged 4 to 14 years living in the city of São Paulo, according to clinical, demographic, epidemiological, and social variables, during the school closure period as a measure against covid-19 spread. METHODS A serological survey was made in September 2020 with a random sample stratified by school system (municipal public, state public and private) type. A venous blood sample was collected using the Wondfo SARS-CoV-2 Antibody Test (lateral flow method) for detection of total SARS-CoV-2 virus antibodies. Semi-structured questionnaires were applied to collect clinical, demographic, social, and epidemiological data. RESULTS Seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in schoolchildren was of 16.6% (95%CI 15.4–17.8). The study found higher seroprevalence in the municipal (18.5%; 95%CI 16.6–20.6) and state (16.2%; 95%CI 14.4–18.2) public school systems compared to the private school system (11.7; 95%CI 10.0–13.7), among black and brown students (18.4%; 95%CI 16.8–20.2) and in the most vulnerable social stratum (18.5 %;95%CI 16.9–20.2). Lower seroprevalence was identified in schoolchildren who reported following the recommended protective measures against covid-19. CONCLUSION Seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies is found mainly in the most socially vulnerable schoolchildren. This study can contribute to support public policies that reinforce the importance of suspending face-to-face classes and developing strategies aimed at protective measures and monitoring of the serological status of those who have not yet been included in the vaccination schedule.

Resumo Objetivo: Avaliar os parâmetros de saúde física e mental, de qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde (QVRS), em adolescentes com deficiência física matriculados em organização não governamental (ONG) esportiva vs. em adolescentes sem deficiência, durante a pandemia da doença do coronavírus 2019 (COVID-19). Métodos: Este estudo transversal incluiu 30 adolescentes com deficiência e 86 adolescentes sem deficiência que responderam a questionário online com dados sociodemográficos e informações de rotina de saúde autoavaliadas durante a quarentena da COVID-19. Versões validadas de autorrelato do Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory 4.0 (PedsQL4.0), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) e Pediatric Outcome Data Collection Instrument (PODCI) também foram aplicadas. Resultados: A mediana de problemas emocionais [4(0–10) vs. 5(0–10),p=0,018] e pró-social [7(0–10) vs. 9(3–10),p=0,006] foi menor em adolescentes com deficiência vs. adolescentes sem deficiência. Adolescentes com deficiência tiveram função global significantemente inferior [68(21–99) vs. 94(67–100),p <0,001] e pontuações de felicidade mais altas do PODCI [90(65–100) vs. 80(0–100),p=0,016] em comparação com o grupo sem deficiências. A análise de regressão logística demonstrou que a atividade física/semana (odds ratio — OR=1,03; intervalo de confiança — IC95%=1,01–1,05,p=0,002) foi maior nos adolescentes com deficiência. No entanto, atividades domésticas (OR=0,14; IC95%=0,04–0,43,p=0,001) e tempo de tela ≥3 horas/dia (OR=0,09; IC95%=0,02–0,38,p=0,001) foram menores nos adolescentes com deficiência. Conclusões: Os adolescentes com deficiência que frequentam uma organização não governamental (ONG) esportiva não tiveram maior risco de apresentar indicadores adversos à saúde; apesar de apresentarem função física reduzida, relataram mais atividade física, maior felicidade e menos tempo de tela em comparação com adolescentes sem deficiência durante a pandemia da COVID-19.

Abstract Objective: This study aimed to assess physical and mental health, and health-related quality of life (HRQL) parameters in adolescents with physical disabilities enrolled in a sports nongovernmental organization (NGO) versus adolescents without disabilities during coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 30 adolescents with disabilities and 86 adolescents without disabilities who responded to an online questionnaire with sociodemographic data and self-rated healthcare routine information during the COVID-19 quarantine. Validated self-report versions of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory 4.0 (PedsQL 4.0), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Pediatric Outcome Data Collection Instrument (PODCI) were also applied. Results: The median of emotional [4 (0–10) vs. 5 (0–10), p=0.018] and prosocial [7 (0–10) vs. 9 (3–10), p=0.006] problems was lower in adolescents with disabilities versus adolescents without disabilities. Adolescents with disabilities had significantly lower global function [68 (21–99) vs. 94 (67–100), p<0.001] and higher happiness scores in the PODCI scale [90 (65–100) vs. 80 (0–100), p=0.016] compared to controls. Logistic regression analysis demonstrated that physical activity/week (OR=1.03; 95%CI 1.01–1.05, p=0.002) was higher in adolescents with disabilities compared to adolescents without disabilities. However, housework activities (OR=0.14; 95%CI 0.04–0.43, p=0.001) and screen time ≥3 h/day (OR=0.09; 95%CI 0.02–0.38, p=0.001) were lower in adolescents with disabilities compared to adolescents without disabilities. Conclusion: Adolescents with disabilities attending a sports NGO were not at higher risk of adverse health-related indicators; despite showing reduced physical function, they reported more physical activity, higher happiness, and less screen time compared to adolescents without disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

ABSTRACT OBJETIVE To map the international literature on Permanent Health Education initiatives to care for people with obesity. METHODS In total, six databases were searched without any language or publication period restriction according to the Joana Briggs Institute manual for evidence synthesis and the Prisma extension for scoping reviews (Prisma-ScR). Articles were independently analyzed by four reviewers and data, by two authors, which were then analyzed and discussed with our research team. RESULTS After screening 8,780 titles/abstracts and 26 full texts, 10studies met our eligibility criteria. We extracted data on methodologies, themes, definitions of obesity, outcomes, and gaps. Most initiatives came from North American countries without free or universal health systems and lasted a short period of time (70%), had multidisciplinary teams (70%), and addressed sub-themes on obesity approaches (90%). Results included changes in participants’ understanding, attitude, and procedures (80%) and gaps which pointed to the sustainability of these changes (80%). CONCLUSION This review shows the scarce research in the area and a general design of poorly effective initiatives, with traditional teaching methodologies based on information transmission techniques, the understanding of obesity as a disease and a public health problem, punctual actions, disciplinary fragmentation alien to the daily work centrality, and failure to recognize problems and territory as knowledge triggers and to focus on health care networks, line of care, the integrality of care, and food and body cultures.

ABSTRACT. This study aimed to perform a strategic diagnosis on a property specialized in breeding, rearing and finishing beef cattle in the southern region of Piauí. It was conducted at Agropecuária Alvorada, located in the countryside, municipality of Bom Jesus, PI, Brazil. The farm develops the full cycle of beef cattle production, which is divided into breeding, rearing and finishing. A SWOT analysis (which stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) was carried out, consisting of an assessment of the property’s internal and external environments. To evaluate the internal environment, an interview was held for data collection by means of questionnaires. The evaluation included: breeding management, sanitary management, nutritional management, infrastructure, workforce, technologies used in pasture formation, conservation and recovery, pasture management and zootechnical indices. To analyze the external environment, a group of people (experts) with deep knowledge of the subject addressed during the study was used as source of information. A matrix was generated with all the information from the SWOT analysis, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, culminating with the establishment of strategies to increase the productive efficiency of the cattle raising activity.

Abstract: Image analysis techniques are expanding in agriculture and, for being fast, simple, and not destroying samples, they are interesting alternatives in the detection of immature rice seeds. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the quality of rice seeds using X-ray, multispectral and chlorophyll fluorescence image analysis techniques. Initially, with the seeds identified and numbered, radiographic images were obtained to determine the free space (area between the endosperm + embryo and the glumes). Subsequently, with the same seeds used in the X-ray, multispectral and chlorophyll fluorescence images were acquired, and then the computerized seedling analysis was performed with the SVIS® software. It was concluded that rice seeds that do not germinate or originate abnormal seedlings have free space equal to or greater than 18.68%, higher reflectance in the spectral bands with wavelength from 590 nm to 780 nm (41.46% to 64.21%, respectively) and in the band of 970 nm (75.65%), in addition to having chlorophyll fluorescence values equal to or greater than 40.58 and 112.92 at excitation/emission energies of 630/700 nm and 645/700 nm, respectively.

Resumo: As técnicas de análise de imagens apresentam-se em expansão na agricultura e por consistirem em avaliações rápidas, simples e não destrutivas, são alternativas interessantes para a detecção de sementes de arroz imaturas. Assim, o objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a qualidade de sementes de arroz utilizando as técnicas de análise de imagens de raios X, multiespectrais e de fluorescência de clorofila. Inicialmente, com as sementes identificadas e enumeradas, foram obtidas imagens radiográficas para a obtenção do espaço vazio (área entre o endosperma + embrião e as glumelas). Posteriormente, com as mesmas sementes utilizadas na análise de raios X, procedeu-se a aquisição das imagens multiespectrais e de fluorescência de clorofila. Na sequência, realizou-se a análise computadorizada de plântulas com o software SVIS ®. Concluiu-se que as sementes de arroz que não germinam ou originam plântulas anormais apresentam espaço vazio interno igual ou superior a 18,68%, maior reflectância nas bandas espectrais de comprimento de onda de 590 nm a 780 nm (41,46% a 64,21%, respectivamente) e na banda de 970 nm (75,65%), além de apresentarem valores de fluorescência de clorofila iguais ou superiores a 40,58 e a 112,92, respectivamente nas energias de excitação/emissão de 630/700 nm e de 645/700 nm.

ABSTRACT Objective: Evaluate the neurological recovery with a follow-up of 06 (six) months in victims of thoracic and lumbar fractures who underwent spinal decompression in less than 24 hours, between 24 and 48 hours, and more than 48 hours after the trauma. Methods: Data were collected on patients seen at a large public hospital in Belo Horizonte, between 2014 and 2018, who were victims of SCI who presented with neurological deficits at initial care, and the neurological recovery presented. Results: 41 SCI patients were evaluated, whose mean age was 34 years. There was a predominance of thoracic spine fractures (65.9% of the cases) and classified as AO Spine type C (75%). Regarding the time variable, about 68% of the patients were submitted to surgical treatment more than 48 hours after the trauma. It was observed that both the patients submitted to surgical decompression within less than 24 hours, and those operated on more than 48 hours after the trauma showed a slight neurological improvement at the 6-month follow-up. However, no statistical significance was found. It is worth noting that even when analyzing the 41 patients of the study, regardless of the surgical interval, it was impossible to observe a statistically significant neurological improvement at the 6-month follow-up. Conclusion: Our study could not demonstrate significant differences between those patients who operated early in less than 24 hours and those who operated after more than 48 hours. Resumen: Objetivo: Evaluar la recuperación neurológica con un acompañamiento de 06 meses en víctimas de fracturas torácicas y lumbares sometidos a la descompresión medular en menos de 24 horas, entre 24 y 48 horas y en más de 48 horas del trauma. Métodos: Se recogieron datos de pacientes atendidos en un gran hospital público de Belo Horizonte, en el período de 2014 y 2018, víctimas de TRM que presentaban déficits neurológicos en el atendimiento inicial y la recuperación neurológica presentada. Resultados: Fueron evaluados 41 pacientes víctimas de TRM, cuya edad media fue de 34 años. Se ha observado una preponderancia de fracturas en la columna torácica (65.9% de los casos) y clasificadas como AO Spine tipo C (75%). En relación a la variable tiempo, un 68% de los pacientes fueron sometidos al tratamiento quirúrgico con más de 48h transcurridas del trauma. Se ha observado que tanto en los pacientes sometidos a la descompresión quirúrgica con menos de 24 horas cuanto en los operados con más de 48h tras el trauma hubo discreta mejora neurológica en “follow-up” de 6 meses. No fue averiguada, sin embargo, significancia estadística. Conviene resaltar todavía que, aunque analizando el conjunto de los 41 pacientes de estudio, independiente del intervalo quirúrgico, no fue posible observar mejora neurológica con significancia estadística en la revaluación de 6 meses. Conclusión: Nuestro trabajo no consiguió demostrar diferencias significativas entre aquellos pacientes operados tempranamente en menos de 24 horas de aquellos operados en más de 48 horas. Resumo: Objetivo: Avaliar a recuperação neurológica com um acompanhamento de 06 (seis) meses em vítimas de fraturas torácicas e lombares submetidos a descompressão medular em menos de 24 horas, entre 24 e 48 horas e em mais de 48 horas do trauma. Métodos: Foram coletados dados relativos a pacientes atendidos em hospital público de grande porte de Belo Horizonte, no período de 2014 e 2018, vítimas de TRM que apresentavam déficits neurológicos no atendimento inicial, e a recuperação neurológica apresentada. Resultados: Foram avaliados 41 pacientes vítimas de TRM, cuja idade média foi de 34 anos. Observou-se predomínio de fraturas na coluna torácica (65.9% dos casos) e classificadas como AO Spine tipo C (75%). Em relação a variável tempo cerca de 68% dos pacientes foram submetidos a tratamento cirúrgico com mais de 48h decorridas do trauma. Observou-se que tanto nos pacientes submetidos a descompressão cirúrgica com menos de 24h quanto nos operados com mais de 48h após o trauma houve discreta melhora neurológica no follow-up de 6 meses. Não foi constatada, todavia, significância estatística. Cabe destacar ainda que mesmo analisando o conjunto dos 41 pacientes do estudo, independente do intervalo cirúrgico, não foi possível constatar melhora neurológica com significância estatística na reavaliação de 6 meses. Conclusão: Nosso trabalho não conseguiu demonstrar diferenças significativas entre aqueles pacientes operados precocemente em menos de 24 horas daqueles operados em mais de 48 horas. Abstract Background Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality statistics in Brazil and worldwide. The evaluation of the temporal and spatial distribution of mortality due to CVD is essential to support actions aimed at monitoring the implementation of health policies. Objectives To analyze the temporal trend of mortality due to CVD from 2009 to 2019, as well as the main causes of death according to gender and age group in nine cities of Rio Grande do Sul (RS). Methods This is an ecological study based on data from the Mortality Information System. The rates were stratified according to gender, age group and cause, which were composed of ischemic heart diseases (IHD), cerebrovascular diseases and hypertensive diseases (HD). Prais-Winsten regression was used for time trend estimates. Results Three out of the nine cities analyzed showed a significant reduction in the overall mortality rates due to CVD in the timeframe evaluated (p<0.05). When the cause of death was analyzed, there was a decreasing trend in mortality due to IHD in Caxias do Sul, Ijuí and Porto Alegre. In these cities and also in Passo Fundo and Uruguaiana, there was a decrease in mortality due to cerebrovascular diseases. The cities of Ijuí, Porto Alegre and Santa Maria recorded an increase in hypertensive disease mortality rates. In most cities, there was an increase in rates related to greater age and male sex. Conclusion Heterogeneity was observed in the trend of mortality due to CVD throughout the historical series, which may be related to the execution of public policies and the control of cardiovascular risk factors in the evaluated territories.

ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE To estimate seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in schoolchildren aged 4 to 14 years living in the city of São Paulo, according to clinical, demographic, epidemiological, and social variables, during the school closure period as a measure against covid-19 spread. METHODS A serological survey was made in September 2020 with a random sample stratified by school system (municipal public, state public and private) type. A venous blood sample was collected using the Wondfo SARS-CoV-2 Antibody Test (lateral flow method) for detection of total SARS-CoV-2 virus antibodies. Semi-structured questionnaires were applied to collect clinical, demographic, social, and epidemiological data. RESULTS Seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in schoolchildren was of 16.6% (95%CI 15.4–17.8). The study found higher seroprevalence in the municipal (18.5%; 95%CI 16.6–20.6) and state (16.2%; 95%CI 14.4–18.2) public school systems compared to the private school system (11.7; 95%CI 10.0–13.7), among black and brown students (18.4%; 95%CI 16.8–20.2) and in the most vulnerable social stratum (18.5 %;95%CI 16.9–20.2). Lower seroprevalence was identified in schoolchildren who reported following the recommended protective measures against covid-19. CONCLUSION Seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies is found mainly in the most socially vulnerable schoolchildren. This study can contribute to support public policies that reinforce the importance of suspending face-to-face classes and developing strategies aimed at protective measures and monitoring of the serological status of those who have not yet been included in the vaccination schedule.

RESUMO OBJETIVO Estimar a soroprevalência de anticorpos do vírus SARS-CoV-2 em escolares de quatro a 14 anos de idade residentes no município de São Paulo, segundo variáveis clínicas, demográficas, epidemiológicas e sociais, durante o período de fechamento das escolas como medida de controle da covid-19. MÉTODOS Realizou-se um inquérito sorológico em setembro de 2020 com amostra aleatória estratificada por tipo de rede de ensino (pública municipal, pública estadual e privada). Foi coletada amostra de sangue venoso utilizando-se o teste de imunoensaio de fluxo lateral da fabricante Wondfo para detecção de anticorpos totais contra o vírus SARS-CoV-2. Aplicaram-se questionários semiestruturados para o levantamento de dados clínicos, demográficos, sociais e epidemiológicos. RESULTADOS A soroprevalência de anticorpos do vírus SARS-CoV-2 em escolares foi de 16,6% (IC95% 15,4–17,8). O estudo encontrou soroprevalências mais elevadas na rede pública municipal (18,5%; IC95% 16,6–20,6) e estadual (16,2%; IC95% 14,4–18,2) em relação à rede privada (11,7; IC95% 10,0–13,7) e entre escolares da raça/cor preta e parda (18,4%; IC95% 16,8–20,2) e no estrato social mais vulnerável (18,5%; IC95% 16,9–20,2). A pesquisa identificou menores soroprevalências nos escolares que relataram seguir as medidas recomendadas de proteção contra a covid-19. CONCLUSÃO A soroprevalência de anticorpos contra o vírus SARS-CoV-2 atinge principalmente os escolares socialmente mais vulneráveis. Este estudo pode contribuir para embasar políticas públicas que reforcem a importância da suspensão das aulas presenciais e da necessidade de estratégias de medidas de proteção e acompanhamento do status sorológico daqueles que ainda não foram contemplados no calendário vacinal.
