RESUMO O incremento de uma floresta sob uma exploração madeireira depende não apenas do ritmo de crescimento das espécies como também da distribuição diamétrica remanescente que deverá permanecer pós corte. O trabalho avaliou, mediante simulação, a estrutura diamétrica remanescente de um talhão de floresta ombrófila no estado do Amazonas, visando à garantia de ter incremento que recupere a extração. A simulação do crescimento da floresta pós-exploração, respeitando a taxa calculada e a estrutura, permitiram um incremento que pode recuperar o volume comercial inicial durante o ciclo considerado (25 anos). Observou-se nas simulações que a remoção de todo volume comercial disponível das espécies estudadas impede a recuperação da floresta no ciclo considerado. Observou-se também que as classes diamétricas comerciais remanescentes (acima do centro de classe de 45 cm) são responsáveis por 81 % do incremento necessário para recuperação do volume comercial removido. Identificou-se um ponto ótimo de classe diâmetro a ser mantida na floresta, acima do qual o retorno do volume comercial é nulo. O ponto crucial da recuperação do volume extraído é o potencial de incremento da estrutura que deve permanecer no compartimento.

ABSTRACT The increment of a tropical forest under logging depends not only on the growth rate but also on the residual diameter structure of the forest. It was estimated the residual diametric structure to guarantee the necessary increment to recover the logged timber volume in a compartment of tropical forest in the state of Amazonas, in Brazil. The simulation of forest growth rate calculated after cutting when observing calculated tax and structure resulted in an increment that can recover the initial commercial volume during the cycle under consideration. It was observed in simulations that if the total commercial volume is removed in the beginning of the first logging cycle the forest will not recover the timber volume under the cycle in question. It was observed that approximately 81 % of the increment that is necessary to recover the volume logged was originated in the commercial residual classes (above 45 cm of diameter center class). It was identified an optimal class of diameter to be kept in the forest, above which the timber volume return is null. The most important to be considered in the volume recover is the increment potential of the forest structure that must remain in the compartment.

RESUMO Existe uma grande lacuna dos planos de manejo de florestas tropicais com relação à intensidade de extração e às taxas de corte, usualmente sendo definidas de forma arbitrária. Este trabalho visa definir intensidades de corte diferenciadas para grupos de espécies arbóreas comerciais, com diferentes ritmos de crescimento, por unidade de produção, no estado do Amazonas. Utilizou-se o incremento periódico anual percentual em volume, de 26 espécies arbóreas, obtido de parcelas permanentes. O incremento periódico anual, percentual em volume, para efeito diferenciador, considerou 1% como diferença limite. Foram identificadas três intensidades de corte, para as classes comerciais: 24,4% (grupo I), 35,4% (grupo II) e 42,4% (grupo III). Considerando a exploração total sustentável por hectare, para as 26 espécies, seria de 11,5 m³ ha-1 com intensidade de corte de 37%. O procedimento de cálculo é simples e pode ser utilizado pelos órgãos fiscalizadores, certificadores ou legisladores como balizador do ciclo de corte e taxa de corte.

ABSTRACT There is a large gap in tropical forest management plans regarding to the intensity of logging and cutting rates. So far, it has been defined arbitrarily. This work aims at to define different cutting intensities for groups of tree species with different growth rhythm, in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. The study used the periodical annual increment, percentual in volume, of 26 species, obtained from permanent plots. The periodic increment percentage in volume for differentiating effect considered 1% difference as threshold. Three levels of logging intensity were identified for the commercial classes: 24.4% for group I, 35.4% for group II, and 42.4% for group III. The total sustainable cutting rate was 11.5m³ ha-1 with cut intensity of 37%. The cutting rate calculation procedure is very simple and can be used by forest law and monitoring institutions.

RESUMO O objetivo principal deste trabalho foi elaborar dendrogramas para o manejo de densidade (DMD), em populações de Hovenia dulcis localizadas na região central do estado do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. Para tanto, foram utilizadas informações de dois povoamentos, com idades de 25 anos, localizado na Fundação de Pesquisa Agropecuária (FEPAGRO) e de uma população de árvores livres, com DAPs variando de 5 a 45 cm, localizado no campus da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), RS. Nos povoamentos sob concorrência, os dados foram coletados em árvores dos estratos dominante, intermediário e dominado, pelo método da densidade pontual. As árvores livres de concorrência foram coletadas sob a forma de censo. Como conclusão obteve-se que o modelo de Reineke ajustou-se satisfatoriamente para estimar as linhas de densidade de fechamento do dossel e de autodesbaste, com os coeficientes angulares se aproximando de -1,5, comprovando que a lei da potência de -3/2 de autodesbaste foi contemplada e que a hipótese postulada por Reineke tambem foi satisfeita. A densidade populacional, para a lotação do dossel, foi de 42,5% do número máximo de árvores, sendo possível construir diagramas para o manejo da densidade, dos 5 aos 31 cm de diâmetro da árvore de área basal média.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to elaborate dendrograms for the management of density, for populations of Hovenia dulcis located in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. To this end, we used information from 2 stands, aged 25 years, located at the Fundação de Pesquisa Agropecuária (FEPAGRO) and a population of free trees with diameters at breast height (DBH) ranging from 5 to 45 cm, located on the campus of the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), RS. In stands under competition, the data were collected from trees of the dominant, intermediate, and dominated stratas by the method of density point. In trees free of competition, the data were collected in the form of census. It was found that the model Reineke adjusted satisfactorily to estimate line density of canopy closure and anthropic, with slopes approaching -1.5, showing that the -3/2 self -thinning power law was contemplated and that the hypothesis postulated by Reineke was also satisfied. The population density for canopy capacity was 42.5% of the maximum number of trees, making it possible to construct diagrams for the management of density from 5 to 31 cm in diameter of average basal area of the tree.

RESUMO Este trabalho teve como objetivo construir curvas índice de sítios florestais, a partir da altura dominante e idade, de populações localizadas na região central do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Para tanto, foram utilizadas informações de três povoamentos (sítios) com idades de 25 anos, localizados na Fundação de Pesquisa Agropecuária (FEPAGRO). Para classificar os sítios florestais, coletaram-se informações de 18 árvores dominantes nos locais, observando a metodologia para análise de tronco. Na construção das curvas de índice de sítio, foi o selecionado o modelo de Backman, ficando constatada a necessidade da construção de dois conjuntos de curvas, com intervalo de 2 m, da idade de 5 a 25 anos, com idade índice de 25 anos. Para o Sítio I-A, foram geradas 3 curvas índices, de 22 a 24 m e, para os Sítios I-B+II+III, 6 curvas índices de 8 a 18 m.

ABSTRACT The main objective of this work is to study the index forest sites build, for the dominant height, of populations located in the central area of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. To do that, information from 3 stands located at FEPAGRO was used. To construct the curves index sites forest, information from 18 dominant trees was collected in the 4 sites, observing the methodology for the analysis of the bole. For the curves index site forest, the Backman model was, and it was verified the necessity of construction of two groups of index curves of sites, with space of 2 m, from 4 to 25 years, and index age of 25. To the site I- A, 3 index curves were generated, from 22 to 24 m and, to the sites I-B+II+III, 6 index curves from 8 to 18 m were made.

RESUMO Este estudo teve como objetivo desenvolver modelos que permitam estimar a biomassa comercial verde dos brotos de erva-mate (Ilex paraguariensis) após a poda, aos 10 anos de idade. Em setembro de 2007, 40 erveiras foram podadas, um ano após a primeira poda, em 2008, estas foram avaliadas dendrometricamente e sua biomassa comercial determinada a partir da colheita de 16 indivíduos, para as demais, a biomassa comercial foi estimada pelo somatório da biomassa dos brotos. Como resultado obteve-se que: a biomassa comercial dos brotos pode ser estimada como função do comprimento folhado dos mesmos, com modelos específicos para brotos curtos: √bc = 0,8682 + 0,0113 . cf2, brotos médios simples e compostos: ln bc = -2,1600 + 1,3861 . ln cf e brotos longos compostos: ln bc = -0,6288 + 1,0584. ln ∑cf; os modelos utilizados para a estimativa da biomassa comercial dos brotos que utilizam o comprimento folhado e somatório do comprimento folhado como variáveis independentes, subestimam os valores de biomassa com uma margem de erro de apenas 2,6 %.

ABSTRACT This study aimed at developing some models that allow estimating the biomass of commercial green shoots of Ilex paraguariensis after pruning, at 10 years-old. In September 2007, 40 Ilex paraguariensis were pruned. One year after the first pruning, in 2008, they were evaluated dendrometrically and their biomass was determined from the commercial harvest of 16 individuals. To the others, the commercial biomass was estimated by the sum of the biomass of shoots. The result obtained is that the biomass of commercial sprouts can be estimated as a function of the length of the rolls sprouting, with specific models for sprouts short, simple and compound average sprouts and long sprouts compounds. The models used to estimate the biomass of commercial sprouts using the length sum rolls and rolls of the length as independent variables underestimate the values of biomass with a margin of error of only 2.6%.

RESUMO O presente trabalho foi desenvolvido no “Projeto Ipiranga VII”, localizado na Fazenda Boa Vista no município de Encruzilhada do Sul, RS, pertencente a Empresa Ipiranga Florestal Ltda. O projeto foi implantado em 1987, tendo uma área total e efetivo plantio com Pinus elliotii de 311,59 ha e 200 ha, respectivamente. Este trabalho teve como objetivo determinar as características distintas da área em estudo (sítios) em função dos fatores edáficos, dendrométricos e da vegetação. O sítio I apresentou uma coloração bruno avermelhado escuro (5YR – úmido) na profundidade de 0-10 cm. Este sítio possui solos rasos, apresentando uma profundidade inferior a 20 cm, a superfície do solo apresenta muitas pedras e pedriscos, textura arenosa a franco argilosa e estrutura granular grumosa. O sítio II possui uma coloração bem escura, diferenciando nitidamente do sítio I, pois na profundidade de 20-40 cm apresentou uma coloração bruno avermelhado escuro (5YR 2,5/2 úmido). Neste sítio o solo possui uma profundidade média a profunda, sendo que na maioria dos pontos de sondagem a profundidade do solo foi superior a 40 cm. A superfície do solo neste sítio apresentou poucas pedras e pedriscos, possuindo estrutura granular poliédrica a blocos subangulares e textura franco arenosa. Apesar do sítio I ter menor número de árvores por hectare, em torno de 120 árvores a menos que do sítio II, estas possuem um diâmetro basal médio menor que no sítio II, pois sabe-se que o diâmetro é diretamente influenciado pela densidade do povoamento, quanto mais denso for o povoamento, menor será o diâmetro do mesmo. A área basal média por hectare no sítio I foi de 32,40 m2/ha e 37,91 m2/ha para o sítio II, tendo uma diferença de 5,51 m2/ha. Visto que o Projeto Ipiranga VII possui dois sítios, percorreu-se toda a área com o objetivo de coletar amostras de solos em diferentes profundidades, que variam de 0 a 20 cm e de 20 a 40 cm, isto nos sítios I e II. A análise do solo revelou que o sítio II possui maior percentagem de matéria orgânica em ambas profundidades, podendo justificar a coloração mais escura do solo e mais disponibilidade de nitrogênio e outros nutrientes às plantas. Os dois sítios em ambas profundidades são muito ácidos, tendo uma necessidade média de calcário de 4,9 t/ha, pela tabela SMP, para atingir um pH de 5,5 o que seria ideal para Pinus e Eucalyptus. Essa acidez é refletida pelos teores de alumínio, ficando em torno de 1,0 meq/100 ml, com tendência de aumentar à medida que aumenta a profundidade de amostragem. A menor percentagem de argila foi encontrada nas profundidades 20-40 cm, tanto no sítio I como no sítio II, confirmando assim o tipo de solo da região (Padzólico vermelho-amarelo horizonte B textural).

SUMMARY The present work was developed in “Ipiranga VII”, located at the Boa Vista farm, in Encruzilhada do Sul, RS town. Project began in 1987, with a total area of 311.59 ha and an effective planting area of 200 ha. The objective of this work is to determine distinct characteristics of the studied area (sites) as a function of edaphic, dendrometric, and vegetative factors. Site I presents a dark reddish brown colour (humid, 5YR 3/4), according to Munsell"s chart, at a depth of 0-10 cm. This site has shallow soils, with a depth smaller than 20 cm, its soil surface presents lots of stones and little stones, with a sandy to clay loam texture and a grumous granular structure. Site II has a very dark collor, what makes it sharp different from site I; at the depth of 20-40 cm, it presents a dark reddish brown collor (humid, 5YR 2,5/2,0), according to Munsell"s chart. At this site, soil has a large to medium depth, being the most of the drilling points with a soil depth bigger than 40.0 cm. Soil surface at this site almost presented no stones and little stones and it has a poliedric granular to subangular blocks structure, and a sandy loam texture. Although site I has less trees per hectare, i.e., about 120 trees / ha less than site II, the trees have a media of basal tree diameter smaller than site II, according to the well known statement that diameter is influenced, directly, by the population density, what means the most dense the population, the smaller the diameter of it. Media basal area per hectare in site I was 32,40 m2/ha, and 37,91 m2/ha in site II, what makes a difference of 5.51 m2/ha between them. Once “Ipiranga VII” has two sites, the total area was covered with the objective to collect soil samples in different depths, i.e., site I at 0-20 cm and 20-40 cm depths, and site II at 0-20 and 20-40 cm depths. Soil analysis showed site II has a larger percentage of organic matter in both depths, what may justify the darker collor of the soil and a larger Nitrogen, as well as other nutrients, availability to plants. Both sites, at both depths, are very acid, with a lime media necessity of 4,9 t/ha, according to SMP table, in order to get a 5,5 pH, what is considered ideal to Pinus and Eucalyptus. Such acidity is reflected by Aluminium content, what is arround 1,0 meq / 100 ml of soil, with the trend to grow as sample depth grows. The largest clay percentage was found in the 20-40 cm depth in both sites I and II, ensuring the region soil type ( B textural horizon, Yellow-Red Podzolic ).

RESUMO Os objetivos principais deste trabalho foram: estudar o crescimento da altura dominante em função da idade para Pinus taeda L. da região de Cambará do Sul, RS; bem como elaborar um conjunto de curvas de índice de sítio para a espécie e região. Para tanto, foi testado o modelo matemático de Richards, com dois ou três coeficientes, tendo como pares de dados a idade e altura dominante, obtidas de 31 árvores oriundas de análise de tronco provenientes de três sítios naturais reflorestados com Pinus taeda L. de propriedade da empresa Celulose Cambará S.A. Como resultado um conjunto de nove curvas de índice de sítio de 8 a 32, tomados na idade de referência de 20 anos, com intervalo entre índices de 3 metros.

ABSTRACT The main objective of this work were to study the growth of the dominant height due to the age for Pinus taeda L., in the region of Cambará do Sul, RS state, as well as to obtain a set of site index curves for the species and the region. Richard’s mathematics model was tested, with two or three coefficients, having as data pairs the age and the dominant height, obtained from 31 trees derived from stem analysis from three natural sites reforested with Pinus taeda L. owned by Celulose Cambará company. As a result, it was produced a set of the nine curves of site index from 8 to 32, with a reference age of 20 years with intervals between indexes of 3 meters.

RESUMO No presente trabalho é estudada a composição florística e a estrutura fitossociologia de um “capão” natural de Podocarpus lambertii Klotz., localizada na Fazenda Vista Alegre, no município de São Sepé, Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Em cinco amostras de 10,0 x 50,0 m (500 m2), foram levantadas todas as árvores com diâmetro a altura do peito (DAP) maior ou igual a 10,0 cm. Foram encontradas vinte e nove espécies lenhosas, das quais Podocarpus lambertii Klotz. é a mais importante e característica da associação. Destacam-se também Lithraea molleoides (Vell.) Engl., Caesaria silvestres Sw. e Sebastiana klotzschiana Mull. Arg.

ABSTRACT The presente work studies the floristic composition and fitossociological structure of a natural “capão” of Podocarpus lambertii Klotz., located in Fazenda Vista Alegre in the Municipio of São Sepé, Rio Grande do Sul. In five samples of 10.0 x 50.0 (500 m2), were collected data of all trees with diametre higher ore qual to 10.0 cm at one metre height. Twenty nine species were found of which Podocarpus lambertii Klotz. is more importante and caracteristic. Also, were found Lithraea molleoides (Vell.) Engl., Caesaria silvestres Sw. e Sebastiana klotzschiana Mull. Arg.
