Abstract This article aims to explore the perception of pregnant women regarding collective prenatal care facilitated by educational technology, in the light of complexity thinking. Qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study conducted between August and November 2022. The participants were 19 pregnant women from a Family Health Strategy in the central region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. Data were collected through individual interviews following prenatal meetings and analyzed using thematic analysis. The analysis of the data revealed three thematic axes: Prenatal care: the necessary reconnection of knowledge; Collective prenatal care: collaborative (re)construction of experiences and practices; and Educational technology: tool to foster self-reflection and self-knowledge. Collective prenatal care, facilitated by educational technology, can promote better practices in the pregnancy-postpartum journey by creating collaborative and shared environments for knowledge construction and enabling autonomous and informed decision-making.

ABSTRACT Purpose: Microperimetry has been used for several years as a form of visual function testing in patients with retinal diseases. Normal microperimetry values obtained with microperimeter MP-3 have not yet been fully published, and baseline values for topographic macular sensitivity and correlations with age and sex are needed to establish degrees of impairment. This study aimed to determine values for light sensitivity thresholds and fixation stability using the MP-3 in healthy individuals. Methods: Thirty-seven healthy volunteers (age, 28-68 years), underwent full-threshold microperimetry using a 4-2 (fast) staircase strategy with the standard Goldmann III stimulus size and 68 test points positioned identically to those in the Humphrey Field Analyzer 10-2 test grid. The fixation stability was simultaneously recorded during the microperimetry test. The relationship between global sensitivity and age was calculated using linear regression analysis. Results: Microperimetry was performed on 37 participants (74 eyes). The global mean sensitivity was 29.01 ± 1.44 (range, 26-31) dB. The mean central sensitivity at 2° measured by the MP-3 was 28.5 ± 1.77 dB in the right eye (OD) and 28.75 ± 1.98 dB in the left eye (OS). The total median fixation stability values within 2° and 4° were 80% and 96%, respectively. The linear regression analysis also revealed an age-related global sensitivity decline per year of -0.051 dB ± 0.018 (OD) and -0.078 dB ± 0.021 (OS). Conclusions: Microperimetry performed with the MP-3 allows for an automatic, accurate, and topography-specific examination of retinal sensitivity thresholds. The results of this study provide a normal and age-matched database of MP-3 microperimetry.

RESUMO Objetivos: A microperimetria tem sido usada há vários anos como uma forma de teste de função visual em pacientes com doenças da retina. Os valores normais de microperimetria obtidos com MP-3 ainda não foram totalmente publicados e os valores basais para sensibilidade macular topográfica e correlações com idade e sexo são necessários para estabelecer graus de comprometimento. O objetivo do trabalho é determinar valores para limiares de sensibilidade à luz e estabilidade de fixação usando o MP-3 em indivíduos normais. Métodos: Trinta e sete voluntários saudáveis (idade: 28-68 anos), submetidos à microperimetria de limiar total usando uma estratégia de escada 4-2 (rápida) com o tamanho de estímulo padrão Goldmann III e 68 pontos de teste posicionados de forma idêntica aos do Humphrey Field Analyzer 10-2 grade de teste. A estabilidade da fixação foi registrada simultaneamente durante o teste de microperimetria. A relação entre a sensibilidade global e a idade foi calculada por meio de análise de regressão linear. Resultados: A microperimetria foi realizada em 37 indivíduos (74 olhos). A sensibilidade média global foi de 29,01 ± 1,44 dB, intervalo: 26-31 dB. A mediana da sensibilidade central a 2° medida pelo MP-3 foi de 28,5 ± 1,77 dB (ER) e 28,75 ± 1,98 dB (OE). Os valores médios totais de estabilidade da fixação em 2° e 4° foram 80% e 96%, respectivamente. A análise de regressão linear também revelou um declínio de sensibilidade global relacionado à idade por ano de -0,051 dB ± 0,018 (ER) e -0,078 dB ± 0,021 (LE). Conclusões: A microperimetria realizada com o MP-3 permite um exame automático, preciso e específico da topografia dos limiares de sensibilidade da retina. Os resultados deste estudo fornecem um banco de dados normal e de idade correspondente da microperimetria MP-3.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine the antibiotic profile of microorganisms isolated from urine samples of patients with community urine tract infections (UTI) admitted to the University Hospital of the Federal University of Sao Carlos to support an appropriate local empirical treatment. A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted from October 2018 to October 2020. Data from 1,528 positive urine cultures for bacterial pathogens and antibiograms were tabulated. Bacterial species prevalence and their resistance profile were analyzed and compared by sex and age. For Gram-negative fermenting bacteria, resistance rates were compared between patients with previous hospitalization and the total of infections caused by this group. For comparisons, the Chi-square test was performed, using Fisher’s exact test when necessary (BioEstat program, adopting p ≤ 0.05). A multivariate analysis was applied to assess the effect of the studied variables in predicting multidrug resistance. Infections were more prevalent in women and older adults. Gram-negative bacteria represented 90.44% of total cultures. In both sexes, E. coli prevalence was significantly higher in adults compared with older adults (p < 0.0001). For several antibiotics, resistance rates were higher in the older adults compared with other ages and in patients with Gram-negative fermenting infections and previous hospitalization compared with the total of infections by this group of bacteria. The closer to the hospitalization, the higher the number of antibiotics with superior resistance rates. Resistance rates for aminoglycosides, carbapenems, ceftazidime, nitrofurantoin, piperacillin+tazobactam, and fosfomycin were less than 20%, considered adequate for empirical treatment. Only hospitalization in the previous 90 days was statistically significant in predicting infections by multidrug-resistant bacteria.

Abstract During studies on fish parasites, two new species of Anacanthorus were found parasitizing serrasalmid fishes, Anacanthorus simpliciphallus sp. n. from the hybrid Piaractus mesopotamicus x Piaractus brachypomus and Anacanthorus brandtii sp. n. from Serrasalmus brandtii. Anacanthorus simpliciphallus sp. n. resembles Anacanthorus reginae in the morphology of the male copulatory organ (MCO) and accessory piece but differs from A. reginae in terms of the smaller size of the accessory piece, which corresponds approximately half the size of the MCO and by the presence of a conspicuous metraterm, with a membranous terminal region. Anacanthorus brandtii sp. n. differs from Anacanthorus scapanus by the expansion of the accessory piece, from Anacanthorus jegui by the ratio MCO (male copulatory organ) /AP (accessory piece) and by the expansion of hook shank, from Anacanthorus sciponophallus and A. reginae by the ratio MCO/AP. Anacanthorus brandtii sp. n. can be distinguished from A. reginae and A. simpliciphallus sp.n. by the size of hooks which is similar in A. reginae and A. simpliciphallus sp. n. and dissimilar in A. brandtii sp. n. The two new species also differ from each other by the expansion of shank.

Resumo Durante estudos em parasitos de peixes, duas novas espécies de Anacanthorus foram encontradas parasitando peixes serrasalmideos, Anacanthorus simpliciphallus sp. n. do híbrido Piaractus mesopotamicus x Piaractus brachypomus e Anacanthorus brandtii sp. n. de Serrasalmus brandtii. Anacanthorus simpliciphallus sp. n. assemelha-se a Anacanthorus reginae na morfologia do órgão copulatório masculino (OCM) e peça acessória (PA), mas difere de A. reginae pelo tamanho menor da peça acessória, que corresponde a aproximadamente metade do tamanho do OCM e pela presença de um metraterma conspícuo, com uma região terminal membranosa. Anacanthorus brandtii sp. n. difere de Anacanthorus scapanus pela expansão da peça acessória, de Anacanthorus jegui pela proporção OCM / PA e pela expansão da haste do gancho, e de Anacanthorus sciponophallus e A. reginae pela proporção OCM / PA. Anacanthorus brandtii sp. n. pode ser distinguido de A. reginae e A. simpliciphallus sp. n. pelo tamanho dos ganchos que é similar em A. reginae e A. simpliciphallus sp. n. e dissimilar em A. brandtii sp. n. As duas espécies novas também diferem entre si pela expansão da haste do gancho.

ABSTRACT The partitioning of precipitation into interception, throughfall and stemflow is essential for the hydrological balance in forests, particularly in the Brazilian forest system, regulating the amount of water input and leaf distribution in the ecosystem. This study aimed to present the dynamics of interception loss in yerba mate monoculture, agroforestry and native mixed ombrophilous forest systems, in experimental producing areas in the municipality of Guarapuava, Southern Brazil. The total gross rainfall was 788 mm, distributed in 33 events between July 2019 and March 2020. The throughfall, stemfow and interception loss of rainfall were respectively 78.7, 0.2 and 21.1 % in the native mixed ombrophilous forest; 85.3, 0.1 and 14.6 % in the agroforestry system; and 86.1, 0.3 and 13.6 % in the monoculture system. It was observed that diferent canopy characteristics infuence the variability of rainfall partitioning. The mixed ombrophilous forest showed a higher interception capacity, when compared to the monoculture and agroforestry systems, determined by plant density and meteorological conditions.

RESUMO A partição da precipitação em interceptação, precipitação interna e escoamento pelo tronco é essencial para o equilíbrio hídrico em forestas, especialmente no sistema forestal brasileiro, regulando a quantidade de entrada de água e a distribuição de folhas no ecossistema. Objetivou-se apresentar a dinâmica de perda por interceptação em sistemas de monocultura, agroforesta e foresta ombrófla mista nativa de erva-mate, em áreas experimentais de produção no município de Guarapuava, no Sul do Brasil. A chuva total foi de 788 mm, distribuída em 33 eventos entre julho de 2019 e março de 2020. A precipitação interna, escoamento pelo tronco e perda por interceptação da precipitação foram, respectivamente, de 78,7; 0,2; e 21,1 % na foresta ombrófla mista nativa; 85,3; 0,1; e 14,6 % no sistema agroforestal; e 86,1; 0,3; e 13,6 % no sistema de monocultura. Observou-se que diferentes características de dossel infuenciam a variabilidade na partição da precipitação. A foresta ombrófla mista apresentou capacidade de interceptação superior, em comparação aos sistemas de monocultura e agroforesta, determinada pela densidade de plantas e condições meteorológicas.

ABSTRACT: In Brazil, urea is the most used nitrogen (N) fertilizer to improve forage production. However, their excessive use can cause environmental impacts through N losses, such as ammonia (NH3) volatilization. Therefore, the current study adjusted and estimated the NH3 volatilization from urea applied on tropical pastures in three rainfall conditions using mathematical models. Data were collected from Marandu grass (Brachiaria brizantha) fertilized with 50 kg N ha-1 during wet, intermediate, and dry conditions. Ammonia volatilization was measured in five semi-open chambers for 21 days. The linear, quadratic, exponential, Gompertz, Groot, and Richards models were tested for fitting and estimating the NH3 volatilization. The Gompertz, Groot, and Richards models generated predictions similar to the observed data, with a high determination coefficient, indicating a better fit of these equations to data, with precision and accuracy. However, the Groot model was selected due to the lowest root mean square error of prediction (0.29 % total N lost as NH3). The greatest N loss as NH3 volatilization occurred in the wet, followed by intermediate and dry conditions (20.2, 17.0, and 11.3 % total N lost as NH3, respectively). Therefore, nitrogen losses as NH3 volatilization after application of 50 kg N ha-1, as urea source, are altered according to the weather conditions, reaching 20% of N added in the wet rainfall period. The Groot model is recommended for fitting and estimating the NH3 volatilization from urea applied on Marandu grass pastures in the wet and dry rainfall conditions.

RESUMO: No Brasil, a ureia é o fertilizante nitrogenado mais utilizado para melhorar a produção de forragem. No entanto, seu uso excessivo pode causar impactos ambientais por meio de perdas de nitrogênio (N), como a volatilização da amônia (NH3). Portanto, o objetivo do presente estudo foi ajustar a volatilização de NH3 da ureia aplicada em pastos tropicais em três condições de chuva utilizando modelos matemáticos. Dados foram coletados de pastos de capim-marandu (Brachiaria brizantha) adubado com 50 kg N ha-1 em condições úmidas, intermediárias e secas. A volatilização da NH3 foi medida em cinco câmaras semiabertas durante 21 dias. Os modelos, linear, quadrático, exponencial, Gompertz, Groot e Richards foram testados para ajuste e estimativa da volatilização do NH3. Os modelos de Gompertz, Groot e Richards geraram predições semelhantes aos dados observados, com alto coeficiente de determinação, indicando um melhor ajuste dessas equações aos dados, com acurácia e precisão. No entanto, o modelo Groot foi selecionado devido ao menor erro quadrático médio das predições (0,29% de N total perdido como NH3). A maior volatilização de NH3 ocorreu em condições climáticas úmida, seguido por intermediária e seca (20,2; 17,0 e 11,3% de N total perdido como NH3, respectivamente). Portanto, as perdas de N como volatilização de NH3 após a aplicação de 50 kg N ha-1, como fonte de ureia, são alteradas de acordo com as condições climáticas, atingindo a 20% do N adicionado nas condições úmidas. O modelo Groot é recomendado para ajuste e estimativa da volatilização de NH3 da ureia aplicada em pastos de capim Marandu em condições úmidas e secas.

Resumo Introdução: As doenças cardiovasculares são uma grande preocupação para a saúde mundial. A falta de seguimento terapêutico dessas doenças está associada com o alto risco de eventos cardiovasculares. Compreender os elementos que motivam essa adesão pode impulsionar a elaboração de intervenções mais efetivas. Objetivo: Identificar os elementos reguladores da motivação ao seguimento terapêutico das doenças cardiovasculares. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa segundo as diretrizes de Whitemore e Knafl. Realizou-se a seleção dos artigos entre dezembro de 2020 e janeiro de 2021 nas bases de dados: LILACS, SciELO, MEDLINE e Cochrane Library, com recorte temporal de 2011 a 2021, nos idiomas português, inglês e espanhol. Foram excluídos os artigos de revisão, reflexão, guidelines, protocolos de pesquisa e artigos repetidos. 19 estudos foram selecionados. Resultados: Estudos oriundos de 12 países, mostraram os reguladores de motivação ao tratamento das doenças cardiovasculares em cinco categorias: suporte social, saúde física, autodeterminação, reguladores psicoemocionais e sistemas de cuidado. Conclusão: A motivação apresenta regulações complexas, que mobilizam e potencializam o comportamento humano. Os resultados podem direcionar a assistência de enfermagem e as ações intencionais que influenciem no seguimento terapêutico de doenças cardiovasculares, melhorando os resultados de saúde.

Resumen Introducción: Las enfermedades cardiovasculares son una preocupación importante para la salud mundial. La falta de seguimiento terapéutico de estas enfermedades se asocia con un alto riesgo de eventos cardiovasculares. Comprender los elementos que motivan esta adherencia puede impulsar el desarrollo de intervenciones más efectivas. Objetivo: Identificar los elementos reguladores de la motivación para el seguimiento terapéutico de las enfermedades cardiovasculares. Métodos: Se trata de una revisión integradora, siguiendo los lineamientos de Whitemore y Knafl. La selección de artículos se realizó entre diciembre de 2020 y enero de 2021 en las bases de datos LILACS, SciELO, MEDLINE y Cochrane Library. El marco temporal establecido para la selección fue de 2011 a 2021 y los idiomas fueron portugués, inglés y español. Se excluyeron artículos de revisión, reflexiones, guías, protocolos de investigación y artículos repetidos. Se seleccionaron 19 artículos. Resultados: Estudios de 12 países mostraron los reguladores de la motivación para el tratamiento de enfermedades cardiovasculares en cinco categorías: apoyo social, salud física, autodeterminación, reguladores psicoemocionales y sistemas de atención. Conclusión: En esencia, la motivación tiene regulaciones complejas que movilizan y mejoran el comportamiento humano. Los resultados pueden orientar los cuidados de enfermería y las acciones intencionales que influyen en el seguimiento terapéutico de las enfermedades cardiovasculares, mejorando los resultados de salud.

Abstract Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases are a major concern for global health. The lack of therapeutic follow-up for these diseases is associated with a high risk of cardiovascular events. Understanding the elements that motivate this adherence can prompt the development of more effective interventions. Objective: To identify the regulatory elements that regulate the motivation for the therapeutic follow-up of cardiovascular diseases. Methods: This is an integrative review following Whitemore and Knafl's guidelines. The articles were selected between December 2020 and January 2021 in the databases: LILACS, SciELO, MEDLINE and Cochrane Library, with a time frame from 2011 to 2021, in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Review articles, reflections, guidelines, research protocols, and repeated articles were excluded. 19 articles were selected. Results: Studies from 12 countries showed the regulators of motivation for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases in five categories: social support, physical health, self-determination, psycho-emotional regulators and care systems. Conclusion: In essence, motivation has complex regulations that mobilize and enhance human behavior. The results can guide nursing care and intentional actions that influence the therapeutic follow-up of cardiovascular diseases, improving health outcomes.

Resumen: El objetivo principal de esta investigación fue establecer normas preliminares para la Batería Multidimensional de Autorregulación para la Comprensión Lectora (BAMA-Lectora), compuesta por nueve escalas. La muestra del estudio estuvo compuesta por 910 estudiantes de la Enseñanza Fundamental de escuelas públicas brasileñas. Las normas para las escalas BAMA-Lectura que tienen formato de respuesta tipo Likert se establecieron con base en cuatro subgrupos clasificados con base en percentiles, divididos en grupos de género, historial de repetición y año escolar. Para la EAC-CL, cuyo formato de respuesta difiere del resto de básculas de la batería, se establecieron estándares separados. Se encontró que no todas las escalas de la batería tienen invariancia de medición para género, historial de repetición y año escolar. Se identificaron diferenciaciones en la EAC-CL en estas variables. Los resultados sugieren parsimonia para la aplicación de análisis de comparación de grupos en BAMA-Lectora. Futuros estudios con la batería deberían realizarse con nuevas muestras y aplicando otras técnicas estadísticas para establecer normas.

Abstract: The main aim of this research was to establish preliminary standards for the Self-Regulation for Reading Comprehension Multidimensional Battery (BAMA-Reading), consisting of nine scales. The study sample comprised 910 Middle School students from Brazilian public schools. Norms for the BAMA-Reading scales, which have a Likert-type response format, were established based on percentiles, with the sample classified into four subgroups divided by gender, repetition history, and school year. For the EAC-CL (Educational Assessment Battery for Reading Comprehension and Learning), whose response format differs from the other scales in the battery, separate standards were established. It was found that not all scales in the battery demonstrated measurement invariance for gender, repetition history, and school year. Variances were identified in the EAC-CL concerning these variables. The results suggest caution when applying group comparison analyses in BAMA-Reading. Future studies on the battery should involve new samples and employ advanced statistical techniques to establish more definitive standards.

Resumo: O principal objetivo desta pesquisa foi estabelecer normas preliminares para a Bateria Multidimensional da Autorregulação para a Compreensão de Leitura (BAMA-Leitura), composta por nove escalas. A amostra de estudo foi composta por 910 estudantes de escolas públicas brasileiras. As normas para as escalas da BAMA-Leitura que possuem formato de resposta tipo Likert foram estabelecidas a partir de quatro subgrupos classificados com base em percentis, divididas em grupos de sexo, histórico de repetência e ano escolar. Para a EAC-CL, cujo formato de resposta difere das demais escalas da bateria foram estabelecidas normas à parte. Constatou-se que nem todas as escalas da bateria possuem a invariância de medida para o sexo, histórico de repetência e ano escolar. Identificaram-se diferenciações na EAC-CL nessas variáveis. Os resultados sugerem parcimônia para a aplicação de análises de comparação de grupos na BAMA-Leitura. Estudos futuros com a bateria devem ser conduzidos com novas amostras e aplicando outras técnicas estatísticas para o estabelecimento de normas.

Vegetable proteases have been studied as milk coagulants, and artichoke flower (Cynara cardunculus L. var scolymus) has potential coagulant action as a substitute for microbial chymosin. The objective was to perform chemical characterization of aspartic proteases from artichoke flower (Cynara cardunculus L. var scolymus) by mid-infrared spectroscopy (MIR) and analytical measurements. Artichoke flower extracts were obtained and crude thistle flower extract and microbial chymosin were used as a reference. Plant extracts and microbial chymosin were analyzed for protein concentration, proteolytic activity (PA), milk clotting activity (MCA), specificity ratio (SR), effects of pH, temperature, NaCl and CaCl2 concentration on MCA and PA and characterized by electrophoretic, spectroscopic, chromatographic and storage stability. The results indicated that the crude extract of artichoke flower showed high MCA (510.08 SU mL 1), low PA (10.50 µg mg-1), SR (48.57) and storage stability for up to 90 days under frozen. The electrophoretic profile of artichoke flower resulted in a protein band with an apparent molecular weight of 32 kDa, associated with cardosin A. Artichoke flower may be a new alternative for commercial plant proteases with active enzymes for milk coagulation.

Resumo A multimorbidade, presença de duas ou mais doenças crônicas não transmissíveis, está diretamente associada a fatores comportamentais. O objetivo da pesquisa foi estimar a prevalência de multimorbidade em jovens brasileiros relacionando-a aos diferentes determinantes sociais e de estilo de vida. Trata-se de um estudo transversal cuja fonte de dados foi a Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde em 2019. Foram selecionados dados de indivíduos com idade entre 15 e 24 anos (n = 10.460). Os fatores associados foram investigados por meio do cálculo da razão de prevalência com variância robusta, adequado para análise bivariada e multivariada. A prevalência de multimorbidade nos jovens foi estimada em 7,84% (IC95%: 7,01-8,75; N: 2.455.097). Os agravos mais comuns foram doenças mentais, depressão, asma ou bronquite e problemas crônicos de coluna. No modelo ajustado, jovens do sexo feminino (RP: 1,84; IC95%: 1,44-2,36), obesos (RP: 1,97; IC95%: 1,45-2,68) e ex-fumantes (RP: 1,46; IC95%: 1,12-1,90) apresentaram maiores prevalências para multimorbidade. A razão de prevalência para multimorbidade aumentou 5% a cada ano de vida do indivíduo. Este estudo identificou uma associação de multimorbidade com determinantes sociais e estilo de vida.

Abstract Multimorbidity, namely the presence of two or more chronic non-communicable diseases, is directly associated with behavioral factors. This study sought to estimate the prevalence of multimorbidity among young Brazilians by linking it to different social and lifestyle determinants. It involved a cross-sectional study of the data source, namely the 2019 National Health Survey. Data from individuals aged between 15 and 24 years (n = 10,460) were selected. Associated factors were investigated by calculating the Prevalence Ratio with robust variance, suitable for bivariate and multivariate analysis. The prevalence of multimorbidity in young people was estimated at 7.84% (95%CI: 7.01-8.75; N: 2,455,097). The most common conditions were mental illness, depression, asthma or bronchitis and chronic back problems. In the adjusted model, young females (PR: 1.84; 95%CI: 1.44-2.36), obese youths (PR: 1.97; 95%CI: 1.45-2.68) and former smokers (PR: 1.46; 95%CI: 1.12-1.90) showed a higher prevalence of multimorbidity. It was also revealed that the prevalence ratio for multimorbidity increased by 5% for each year of the individual’s life. This study identified an association of multimorbidity with social determinants and lifestyle.

ABSTRACT Patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) might present acute and late toxicities and the oral tissues are frequently affected. With the survival increasing, patients show late and long-term morbidities, and there is an important association between the general and the oral health. The first and second parts of this Consensus have showed the importance of the adequacy of oral health in the pre-HSCT, and the main alterations and oral care during the period of admission for HSCT. This third part aims to review specific themes of post-HSCT dental care, such as graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and the pediatric patient. It also aims to review pertinent subjects, both during the HSCT period and post-HSCT, concerning quality of life, pain, cost-effectiveness, and remote care. Based on this review, it is evident the importance of the work of the dental surgeon (DS) in the follow-up and treatment of the HSCT patient, always collaborating with the whole multidisciplinary team.

ABSTRACT During the state of immune vulnerability in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), the patient has an increased risk of developing a vast number of complications, including severe problems in the oral cavity. These situations require professional oral care to act in the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions, as well as to develop prevention protocols to minimize patient's complications. Oral mucositis, opportunistic infections, bleeding, specific microbiota, taste, and salivary alterations are complications that can occur during HSCT and interfere with various aspects, such as pain control, oral intake, nutrition, bacteremia and sepsis, days of hospitalization and morbidity. Several guidelines have been published to address the role of professional oral care during the HSCT, we describe a consensus regarding these recommendations.
