Abstract Objective: To evaluate exclusive breastfeeding at discharge and hospital length-of-stay in pre-term infants undergoing or not the Kangaroo-Mother Care Method (KMC). Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted including preterm infants < 1800 g admitted to the neonatal unit of a KMC reference center. The infants were grouped into the KMC group and the non-KMC group. Multiple logistic and Poisson regressions were performed to evaluate the association between the KMC and two outcomes, exclusive breastfeeding at discharge, and hospital length-of-stay, adjusted for potential confounders. Results: 115 mother-infant dyads were included, 78 in the KMC group and 37 in the non-KMC group. In the bivariate analysis, the KMC group had a lower prevalence of maternal adverse conditions (6% vs. 32%, p < 0.001), a higher number of prenatal visits (median 6 vs. 3.5, p < 0.001), higher gestational ages (median 32 vs. 31 weeks, p < 0.05), higher birth weights (median 1530 vs. 1365 g, p < 0.01), a lower prevalence of necrotizing enterocolitis (3.8% vs. 16.2%, p < 0.05), parenteral nutrition (50% vs. 73%, p < 0.05), and deep vascular access (49.7% vs. 78.4%, p < 0.01), a higher prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding (65% vs. 8%, p < 0.001) and a shorter length of hospital stay (median 28 vs. 42 days, p < 0.001). In the multiple regression analysis, the KMC group was 23 times more likely to be exclusively breastfed at discharge (OR = 23.1; 95% CI = 4,85–109,93) and had a 19% reduction in the hospital length-of-stay (IDR = 0.81; 95% CI = 0.76–0.86) compared to the non-KMC group. Conclusions: The KMC is associated with better short-term neonatal outcomes and should be encouraged in all Brazilian maternity hospitals. ABSTRACT Introduction/framework/objectives Most professionals working in Occupational Health and Safety have some notions regarding the distribution of Occupational Accidents versus gender, however, not all have had the opportunity to consult reasonably up-to-date data on this subject. The aim of this review was to clearly summarize not only some articles that addressed this subject, but also to have access to national and European statistical data. Methodology This is a Bibliographic Review, initiated through a search carried out in May 2023 in the databases “CINALH plus with full text, Medline with full text, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Methodology Register, Nursing and Allied Health Collection: comprehensive, MedicLatina and RCAAP”. The websites of Pordata and the National Institute of Statistics were also consulted. Content There are anatomical and physiological differences between genders, namely body size and shape, musculature and metabolism, which can modulate certain occupational issues, such as choosing and staying in certain jobs. Incidentally, in the same section of work, sometimes both genders take on different tasks and/or perform them in different ways. 98.8% of accidents in absolute numbers occur in males, as this is obviously much more prevalent in the industrial and construction sectors, areas where there is a higher accident rate. Discussion and Conclusions Accidents at work are more frequent and serious among men, not only due to the type of tasks that exist in positions predominantly assumed by this gender, but also due to the personality and influence of society and culture, which generally encourages more in this context to need to defy danger and/or be more acceptable not following the rules. Adherence to the proposed Safety measures varies with the Perception of Risk and the influence of the work team, management and society. As more of this global interference is taken into account, the greater the ability of the Occupational Health and Safety team to mitigate the incidence and severity of Occupational Accidents and thus obtain a safer workplace, and these measures must be different between the male and female sexes.

Pretendeu-se com esta revisão resumir de forma clara, não só alguns artigos que abordassem este assunto, como também ter acesso a dados estatísticos nacionais e europeus nesta área. Metodologia Trata-se de uma Revisão Bibliográfica, iniciada através de uma pesquisa realizada em maio de 2023 nas bases de dados “CINALH plus with full text, Medline with full text, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Methodology Register, Nursing and Allied Health Collection: comprehensive, MedicLatina e RCAAP”. Conteúdo Existem diferenças anátomo-fisiológicas entre os géneros, nomeadamente tamanho e formato corporal, musculatura e metabolização, que podem modular determinadas questões ocupacionais, como a escolha e permanência em alguns postos laborais. Aliás, na mesma secção de trabalho, por vezes os dois géneros assumem tarefas diferentes e/ou executam-nas de formas diversas. Em números absolutos, 98,8% dos acidentes ocorrem no sexo masculino, por este ser obviamente muito mais prevalente nos setores industrial e da construção, áreas essas onde existe uma maior sinistralidade. Discussão e Conclusões Os acidentes de trabalho são mais frequentes e graves no sexo masculino, não só devido ao tipo de tarefas que existem nos postos assumidos predominantemente por este género, mas também devido à personalidade e influência da sociedade e cultura que, geralmente, incentiva mais neste contexto a necessidade de desafiar o perigo e/ou ser mais aceitável não cumprir as regras. A adesão às medidas de Segurança propostas varia com a Perceção de Risco e a influência da equipa de trabalho, chefia e sociedade. Quanto mais esta globalidade de interferências for levada em conta, maior a capacidade da equipa de Saúde e Segurança Ocupacionais para atenuar a incidência e gravidade dos Acidentes Laborais e assim se obter um local de trabalho mais seguro, sendo que essas medidas deverão ser distintas entre os sexos masculino e feminino.

ABSTRACT Cuba has worked on the development of photovoltaic energy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. The residential sector has embraced the modality of installing solar panels on the roofs of their homes in order to reduce their rates. Unconsumed energy can be sold to the national electrical grid. In the study, through scenario analysis, with the Homer Pro, the approximate time to recover the initial investment and obtain profits was determined by evaluating its technical-economic viability with the objective of recovering the investment in 7 to 8 years. At provide a clear vision of how the study, when considering local conditions and needs, offers specific recommendations on adjusting tariffs to encourage investment in solar energy and highlights its relevance within the Havana context, so that prosumers can recover their investment in solar energy less time.

RESUMEN Cuba ha trabajado en el desarrollo de la energía fotovoltaica para disminuir la dependencia de los combustibles fósiles. El sector residencial ha acogido la modalidad de instalar paneles solares en los techos de sus hogares con el fin de reducir sus tarifas. La energía no consumida puede ser vendida a la red eléctrica nacional. En el estudio, a través del análisis de escenarios, con el Homer Pro, se determinó el tiempo aproximado para recuperar la inversión inicial y obtener ganancias al evaluar su viabilidad técnico-económica con el objetivo de recuperar la inversión en 7 a 8 años. Al brindarse una visión clara de cómo el estudio, al considerar las condiciones y necesidades locales, ofrece recomendaciones específicas sobre el ajuste de tarifas para incentivar la inversión en energía solar y resalta su relevancia dentro del contexto habanero, de modo que los prosumidores puedan recuperar su inversión en menor tiempo.

Resumo: O objetivo do estudo foi identificar instrumentos utilizados para avaliar a agressividade de torcedores esportivos e descrever suas características operacionais e psicométricas. Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática na literatura, seguindo diretrizes do PRISMA, nas bases de dados BVS, PsycINFO, PubMed/MedLine, Science Direct, Scopus e Web of Science, utilizando os descritores e operadores booleanos: scale OR test OR inventory OR questionnaire AND aggression OR violence OR aggressiveness AND spectators OR fans. Foram encontrados 198 estudos e após critérios de exclusão, restaram 15. Nesses estudos, foram identificados 11 instrumentos. Esses instrumentos, apresentaram diferenças em bases teóricas, número e conteúdo das dimensões, modo de administração e tipo de resposta. No intuito de verificar a robustez dos instrumentos, as evidências psicométricas foram pontuadas. As descobertas da presente revisão evidenciaram carência de instrumentos específicos para avaliar agressividade de torcedores e poderão auxiliar pesquisadores em possíveis criações de medidas com essa finalidade.

Abstract: The aim of the study was to identify instruments used to assess the aggressiveness of sports fans and describe their operational and psychometric characteristics. A systematic literature review was carried out, following PRISMA guidelines, in the BVS, PsycINFO, PubMed/MedLine, Science Direct, Scopus and Web of Science databases, using the Boolean descriptors and operators: scale OR test OR inventory OR questionnaire AND aggression OR violence OR aggressiveness AND spectators OR fans. 198 studies were found and, after exclusion criteria, 15 remained. In these studies, 11 instruments were identified. These instruments showed differences in theoretical bases, number and content of dimensions, administration method and type of response. In order to verify the robustness of the instruments, the psychometric evidences were scored. The findings of the present review showed the lack of specific instruments to assess the aggressiveness of fans, which can help researchers in the potential creation of measures for this purpose.

Resumen: El objetivo del estudio fue identificar instrumentos utilizados para evaluar la agresividad de los aficionados al deporte y describir sus características operativas y psicométricas. Se realizó una revisión sistemática de la literatura, siguiendo las pautas PRISMA, en las bases de datos BVS, PsycINFO, PubMed/MedLine, Science Direct, Scopus y Web of Science, utilizando los descriptores y operadores booleanos: escala OR test OR inventario OR cuestionario Y agresión OR violencia OR agresividad OR espectadores OR aficionados. Resumo Avaliou-se a puericultura na ESF em município-sede de macrorregião de saúde do Nordeste brasileiro. Realizou-se estudo avaliativo com dois níveis de análise: a gestão municipal e local. Aprofundou-se a avaliação local em quatro EqSF mediante entrevistas com gestores, profissionais e puérperas, análise documental e observação não-participante. As fontes de dados foram trianguladas e processadas no software Nvivo, e o material empírico cotejado com uma situação-objetivo segundo os níveis de análise da pesquisa e elaborada pelos pesquisadores. No nível municipal, a definição clara de atribuições para os pontos de atenção em puericultura e fluxos assistenciais foi um dos critérios mais críticos e, no âmbito local, a integração de ações com outros serviços primários, a contrarreferência e ações educativas coletivas no território. A implementação das práticas de puericultura nas EqSF é fortemente dependente dos determinantes político-organizacionais entre o âmbito municipal e local, e os resultados aqui evidenciados podem se aplicar a outros sistemas municipais de saúde com configurações semelhantes. Este estudo contribuiu para a avaliação da puericultura sustentada na proposição de critérios que consideraram a interdependência municipal e local na organização das ações de avaliação do crescimento e desenvolvimento infantil.

Abstract Childcare was evaluated in the ESF in a municipality that is the headquarters of a health macro-region in the Brazilian Northeast. An evaluative study was carried out with two levels of analysis: municipal and local management. The local assessment was deepened in four EqSF through interviews with managers, professionals and postpartum women, document analysis and non-participant observation. The data sources were triangulated and processed in the Nvivo software, and the empirical material was compared with an objective situation according to the research analysis levels and prepared by the researchers. At the municipal level, the clear definition of assignments for childcare care points and assistance flows was one of the most critical criteria and, at the local level, the integration of actions with other primary services, counter-referral and collective educational actions in the territory. The implementation of childcare practices in EqSF is strongly dependent on political-organizational determinants between the municipal and local levels, and the results shown here may apply to other municipal health systems with similar configurations. This study contributed to the evaluation of childcare based on the proposition of criteria that considered municipal and local interdependence in the organization of actions to evaluate child growth and development.

RESUMEN Objetivo: mapear los trastornos mentales recurrentes comunes en pacientes sometidos a trasplante de células madre hematopoyéticas. Métodos: se trata de una revisión de alcance realizada en enero de 2022 en bases de datos electrónicas y repositorios de disertaciones y tesis. Se incluyeron publicaciones que respondieron a la pregunta de investigación, cumplieron con el objetivo del estudio y estaban disponibles en su totalidad en formato electrónico, en cualquier idioma. Resultados: la muestra estuvo compuesta por 28 estudios, 14 de los cuales fueron publicados en los Estados Unidos de América. ABSTRACT Objective: to map common recurrent mental disorders in patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Methods: this is a scoping review carried out in January 2022 in electronic databases and repositories of dissertations and thesis. Studies that answered the research question, met the objective of the study and were available in full electronically, in any language, were included. Results: the sample consisted of 28 studies, 14 of which were published in the United States of America. The common mental disorders found were depressive, anxiety, post-traumatic stress and mood disorders. Twenty symptoms were mentioned, among the most prevalent are fatigue and sleep disorders/insomnia. Conclusions: the difficulty and importance of carrying out the differential diagnosis of these disorders were highlighted, since their symptoms can be confused with other health problems and have a strong potential to interfere with patients’ evolution. Métodos: trata-se de revisão de escopo realizada em janeiro de 2022 em bases de dados eletrônicas e repositórios de dissertações e tese. Foram incluídas publicações que respondessem à questão de pesquisa, atendessem ao objetivo do estudo e que estivessem disponíveis na íntegra em meio eletrônico, em qualquer idioma. Resultados: a amostra foi composta por 28 estudos, dos quais 14 foram publicados nos Estados Unidos da América. Os transtornos mentais comuns encontrados foram os transtornos depressivos, de ansiedade, estresse pós-traumático e de humor. RESUMEN Objetivo: Evaluar la usabilidad del prototipo de aplicación móvil “Quali+” para personas con hipertensión arterial. Método: Estudio descriptivo, transversal, de evaluación heurística de un prototipo de aplicación móvil realizado entre junio y julio de 2021, en un hospital universitario. Los participantes fueron 22 personas con hipertensión arterial en la ciudad de Campina Grande, PB, Brasil. Para medir la usabilidad se aplicó el instrumento Smartphone Usability QuestionnaiRE. Los niveles ( 70 puntos tienen buena usabilidad. Se utilizó estadística descriptiva. Resultados: Los principales hallazgos del estudio deben presentarse de manera concisa y clara, sin excesivos detalles. Los resultados deben estar alineados con la sección de resultados del artículo completo, proporcionando información más detallada sobre los análisis estadísticos realizados y los principales resultados encontrados. Conclusión: La evaluación de la usabilidad mostró que, aunque se trata de un prototipo, la aplicación tiene una buena usabilidad y puede considerarse para uso rutinario en la autogestión de la salud. ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the usability of the “Quali+” mobile application prototype for people with high blood pressure. Method: Descriptive, cross-sectional study of heuristic evaluation of a mobile application prototype carried out between June and July 2021, in a university hospital. Participants were 22 people with arterial hypertension in the city of Campina Grande, PB, Brazil. To measure usability, the Smartphone Usability questionnaiRE instrument was applied. Levels (70 points have good usability. Descriptive statistics were used. Results: The overall usability average was 105.8(7.44 points, with the lowest score being 83 and the highest being 113. Usability was at the highest level(80 points). Conclusion: The usability evaluation showed that, although it is a prototype, the application has good usability and can be considered for routine use in health self-management. RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar a usabilidade do protótipo de aplicativo móvel “Quali+” para pessoas com hipertensão arterial. Método: Estudo descritivo, transversal, de avaliação heurística de um protótipo de aplicativo móvel realizado entre junho e julho de 2021, em hospital universitário. Participaram 22 pessoas com hipertensão arterial, na cidade de Campina Grande, PB, Brasil. Para mensuração da usabilidade, aplicou-se o instrumento Smartphone Usability questionnaiRE. Abstract Background After recently published randomized clinical trials, the choice of the best anesthetic procedure for mechanical thrombectomy (MT) in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) due to large vessel occlusion (LVO) is not definite. Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of general anesthesia (GA) versus conscious sedation (CS) in patients with AIS who underwent MT, explicitly focusing on procedural and clinical outcomes and the incidence of adverse events. Methods PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane were systematically searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing GA versus CS in patients who underwent MT due to LVO-AIS. Odds ratios (ORs) were calculated for binary outcomes, with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Random effects models were used for all outcomes. Heterogeneity was assessed with I2 statistics. Results Eight RCTs (1,300 patients) were included, of whom 650 (50%) underwent GA. Recanalization success was significantly higher in the GA group (OR 1.68; 95% CI 1.26–2.24; p < 0.04) than in CS. No significant difference between groups were found for good functional recovery (OR 1.13; IC 95% 0.76–1.67; p = 0.56), incidence of pneumonia (OR 1.23; IC 95% 0.56- 2,69; p = 0.61), three-month mortality (OR 0.99; IC 95% 0.73–1.34; p = 0.95), or cerebral hemorrhage (OR 0.97; IC 95% 0.68–1.38; p = 0.88). Resumo Antecedentes A trombectomia mecânica (TM) é o padrão de tratamento para pacientes com acidente vascular cerebral isquêmico agudo (AVCI) devido à oclusão de grandes vasos (OGV). No entanto, ainda não está claro qual é o procedimento anestésico mais benéfico para a TM. Objetivo Nosso objetivo foi comparar a eficácia e a segurança da anestesia geral (AG) versus sedação consciente (SC) em pacientes com AVCI submetidos à TM, focando especificamente nos resultados procedimentais e clínicos, bem como na incidência de eventos adversos. Métodos Foram realizadas buscas sistemáticas nas bases PubMed, Embase e Cochrane por ensaios clínicos randomizados (ECRs) comparando AG versus SC em pacientes submetidos à TM devido a AVCI por OGV. Razões de chances (ORs) foram calculadas para desfechos binários, com intervalos de confiança de 95% (ICs). Modelos de efeitos aleatórios foram usados para todos os resultados. A heterogeneidade foi avaliada com estatísticas I2. Resultados Oito ensaios clínicos randomizados (1.300 pacientes) foram incluídos, dos quais 650 (50%) foram submetidos à AG. O sucesso da recanalização foi significativamente maior no grupo AG (OR 1,68; IC 95% 1,26–2,24; p < 0,04) em comparação com SC. Abstract This observational study aimed to describe and analyze data from two external evaluations of the National Program for Improving Access to and Quality of Dental Specialty Centers (PMAQ CEO), held in 2014 and 2018 in Brazil, which evaluated Dental Specialty Centers (CEO) using a national and census approach. We selected questions through a search in the microdata of the first and second evaluations. The groups were analyzed independently. To compare the groups, nonparametric tests were performed (Mann Whitney U). The formulated hypotheses were: there would be no differences between the data of these groups (h0) and there would be differences between the data of these groups (h1). For qualitative nominal variables, frequency distribution was verified and association tests were performed (chi-square test). The significance level for this study was set at 5%. We observed that orthodontic treatments were found in about 13% of the CEO. Regarding human resources, most professionals were specialists or had MSc or PhD degrees; were civil servants; had been hired by direct administration; or had been hired via public tender. Regarding the work process and inclusion of the CEO in the health care network, we observed a greater number of services that use single and electronic medical records, greater presence of services monitoring and analyzing goals, greater knowledge about monthly average of absenteeism (for 2018); and larger number of services with referrals from primary health care centers (for 2014). Expanding the view on orthodontics and including preventive, interceptive, and corrective treatments at different points in health care networks are essential strategies for achieving comprehensive care in universal health systems. Abstract Introduction Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorder, with main manifestations related to communication, social interaction, and behavioral patterns. The slight dynamics of change in the child over time require that the onset of clinical manifestations presented by the child be more valued, with the aim of stabilizing the condition. Faced with a variety of methods for diagnosing ASD, the question arises as to which method should be used. This systematic review aims to recommend the best tools to perform screening and diagnosis. Methodology This systematic review followed the PRISMA guidelines. The databases MEDLINE, Embase, CENTRAL (Cochrane), and Lilacs were accessed, and gray and manual searches were performed. The search strategy was created with terms referring to autism and the diagnosis/broad filter. The studies were qualitatively evaluated and quantitatively. Statistical analysis was performed using Meta-diSc-2.0 software, the confidence interval was 95 %. Results The M-CHAT-R/F tool demonstrated a sensitivity of 78 % (95 % CI 0.57‒0.91) and specificity of 0.98 (95 % CI 0.88-1.00). The diagnostic tools demonstrated sensitivity and specificity respectively of: ADOS, sensitivity of 87 % (95 % CI 0.79‒0.92) and specificity 75 % (95 % CI 0.73‒0.78); ADI-R demonstrated test sensitivity of 77 % (95 % CI 0.56‒0.90) and specificity 68 % (95 % CI 0.52‒0.81), CARS test sensitivity was 89 % (95 % CI 0.78‒0.95) and specificity 79 % (95 % CI 0.65‒0.88). Abstract Background: The increasing demand for organ donors and proficient experts is prompting fresh research endeavors aimed at clarifying societal perceptions and actions related to organ donation. Students from the healthcare area have been a focal point in these studies. Despite their favorable attitudes, a notable gap in knowledge among students has been underscored. Objective: To assess the level of knowledge, willingness, and attitudes toward organ donation among medical and nursing students in the city of Recife, Brazil. Methods: A cross-sectional investigation was undertaken, involving the examination of questionnaires that were answered by medical and nursing students during their last academic years. Results: Between February and December 2022, a total of 218 questionnaires were gathered, of which 208 were included in the final sample. Among the participants, 57.2% identified as male, with an average age of 24 ± 2.7 years. In terms of academic background, 85.1% were enrolled in medical school, while 14.9% were attending nursing school. A notable observation was that only 49% of the students were aware that the diagnosis of brain death does not necessarily require the involvement of a neurologist. Furthermore, a significant proportion of students (63%) were unfamiliar with the entity responsible for initiating discussions with the potential donor’s family. Interestingly, 92.3% of the students had contemplated the prospect of becoming organ donors themselves. If a family member were diagnosed with brain death, a significant majority of students, specifically 83.2%, expressed their willingness to grant consent for organ donation. Conclusions: Despite the positive attitudes, this study revealed insufficient knowledge among students, thereby underscoring the need for universities to expand their curricula and establish courses aimed at acquiring knowledge and skills related to brain death cases and actions related to potential donors. Resumo Introdução: A necessidade crescente de doadores de órgãos e de profissionais capacitados impulsiona novos estudos que esclareçam o entendimento e comportamento da sociedade perante a doação de órgãos. Estudantes de saúde vêm sendo alvo de estudos por seu influente papel social e, além disso, quando formados, farão parte de etapas fundamentais da doação. Contudo, evidencia-se conhecimento insuficiente dos estudantes apesar de possuírem atitude positiva. Objetivo: Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o grau de conhecimento, desejo e atitude perante as doações de órgãos entre os acadêmicos de Medicina e Enfermagem na cidade de Recife, em Pernambuco. Método: Trata-se de um estudo transversal realizado a partir da análise de questionários respondidos por estudantes de Enfermagem e Medicina nos últimos períodos acadêmicos. Além de dados demográficos, os estudantes foram questionados quanto ao entendimento sobre aspectos da validação de possível doador, diretrizes do protocolo de morte encefálica, motivações e opções pessoais em relação à doação de órgãos. Resultado: De fevereiro a dezembro de 2022, 218 questionários foram coletados, dos quais 208 entraram para a amostra. Abstract Childcare was evaluated in the ESF in a municipality that is the headquarters of a health macro-region in the Brazilian Northeast. An evaluative study was carried out with two levels of analysis: municipal and local management. The local assessment was deepened in four EqSF through interviews with managers, professionals and postpartum women, document analysis and non-participant observation. The data sources were triangulated and processed in the Nvivo software, and the empirical material was compared with an objective situation according to the research analysis levels and prepared by the researchers. At the municipal level, the clear definition of assignments for childcare care points and assistance flows was one of the most critical criteria and, at the local level, the integration of actions with other primary services, counter-referral and collective educational actions in the territory. The implementation of childcare practices in EqSF is strongly dependent on political-organizational determinants between the municipal and local levels, and the results shown here may apply to other municipal health systems with similar configurations. Resumo Avaliou-se a puericultura na ESF em município-sede de macrorregião de saúde do Nordeste brasileiro. Realizou-se estudo avaliativo com dois níveis de análise: a gestão municipal e local. Aprofundou-se a avaliação local em quatro EqSF mediante entrevistas com gestores, profissionais e puérperas, análise documental e observação não-participante. As fontes de dados foram trianguladas e processadas no software Nvivo, e o material empírico cotejado com uma situação-objetivo segundo os níveis de análise da pesquisa e elaborada pelos pesquisadores. No nível municipal, a definição clara de atribuições para os pontos de atenção em puericultura e fluxos assistenciais foi um dos critérios mais críticos e, no âmbito local, a integração de ações com outros serviços primários, a contrarreferência e ações educativas coletivas no território. A implementação das práticas de puericultura nas EqSF é fortemente dependente dos determinantes político-organizacionais entre o âmbito municipal e local, e os resultados aqui evidenciados podem se aplicar a outros sistemas municipais de saúde com configurações semelhantes. ABSTRACT Objective: To assess the rib cage expansion and respiratory rate in newborns using an abdominal stabilization band. Methods: The study included 32 newborns of both genders, with gestational age between 35 and 41 weeks. The abdominal stabilization band was used for 15 minutes between the xiphoid process and the anterosuperior iliac crest, with an abdominal contention 0.5cm smaller than the abdominal circumference. The rib cage expansion was evaluated by a breathing transducer (Pneumotrace II™) three minutes before using the band, during the use (15 minutes), and ten minutes after removing the band. The Shapiro-Wilk test verified data normality, and the Wilcoxon test compared the variables considering rib cage expansion and respiratory rate. Significance was set to p<0.05. Results: There was an increase in respiratory rate when comparing before and ten minutes after removing (p=0.008) the abdominal stabilization band, as well as when comparing during its use and ten minutes after its removal (p=0.001). There was also an increase in rib cage expansion when comparing before and during the use of the abdominal stabilization band (p=0.005). Conclusions: The use of the abdominal stabilization band promoted an increase in the rib cage expansion and respiratory rate in the assessed newborns and may be a viable option to improve the respiratory kinematics of this population. RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar a expansibilidade torácica e a frequência respiratória em recém-nascidos que fizeram uso de uma faixa de estabilização abdominal. Métodos: O estudo incluiu 32 recém-nascidos de ambos os sexos, com idade gestacional entre 35 e 41 semanas. A faixa de estabilização abdominal foi mantida por 15 minutos entre o processo xifoide e a espinha ilíaca anterossuperior, com contenção abdominal 0,5 cm menor do que a circunferência abdominal. A expansibilidade torácica foi avaliada por um transdutor piezoelétrico (Pneumotrace II™) 3 minutos antes do uso da faixa, durante 15 minutos, e 10 minutos após sua retirada. RESUMO: O manejo da adubação do feijão-guandu pode melhorar a qualidade do solo e o aproveitamento do N pelas plantas. Assim, objetivou-se avaliar a atividade biológica do solo cultivado com feijão guandu (Cajanus cajan (L) Millsp.) com diferentes manejos de adubação. Empregou-se o delineamento em blocos casualizados, com três repetições e arranjo fatorial 3x5 (genótipos x fertilização e manejo de inoculação). Na fase de florescimento pleno procedeu-se a coleta da planta, para determinação da massa seca da parte aérea e do solo em 0-20 cm, para avaliações da nodulação; carbono orgânico total; nitrogênio total; carbono e nitrogênio da biomassa microbiana; relação C/N; atividade enzimática de β-glucosidase e urease. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância e ao teste Tukey (P ≤ 0,05). Foi construída uma matriz de correlações de Pearson, a similaridade entre os tratamentos foi avaliada pela distância de Mahalanobis e o agrupamento pelo método de pares não ponderados com média aritmética (UPGMA). Ambos genótipos experimentais (BRS03 e BRS04) apresentaram comportamento semelhante para nodulação e padrão de matéria seca da parte aérea semelhantes em relação aos tratamentos com adubação. A aplicação de N mineral e inoculação incrementou o N total do solo, favorecendo a mineralização deste nutriente. Durante as fases de testes, os genótipos obtiveram elevação nos teores de carbono microbiano e quociente microbiano, indicando melhoria da qualidade do solo. ABSTRACT: Fertilization management of pigeon peas can increase soil quality and the N utilization by plants. Therefore, we evaluated the biological activity of soil cultivated with pigeon peas (Cajanus cajan (L) Millsp.) under different fertilization treatments. A randomized block design was used with three replicates and a 3×5 factorial arrangement (genotype×fertilization and inoculation management). At full flowering stage, the plants were collected and shoot dry matter was evaluated. Soil was sampled at 0-20 cm for various analysis viz. nodulation assessment; soil organic carbon; total nitrogen; carbon and nitrogen from microbial biomass; C/N ratio; β-glucosidase and urease enzymatic activity. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and Tukey’s test (P ≤ 0.05). A Pearson correlation matrix was constructed, and the similarity between treatments was evaluated using the Mahalanobis distance and grouping was done using the unweighted pair group method with arithmetic average (UPGMA). Both the experimental genotypes (BRS03 and BRS04) showed similar nodulation and shoot dry matter pattern with respect to fertilizer treatments. Furthermore, the microbial inoculation promoted a higher shoot dry matter content in all the genotypes. The application of mineral N and inoculation increased the total N content in the soil, favoring the mineralization of this nutrient. During the testing phase, the genotypes exhibited an increase in microbial carbon and microbial quotient levels, indicating an improvement in soil quality. The combination of fertilization and inoculation increased the enzymatic activity of β-glucosidase and urease. The correlation matrix showed a strong association between N total and C/N ratio.
