RESUMO Objetivos Analisar o impacto da Patologia Dual na capacidade de trabalho e verificar se existe relevância com o setor de atividade profissional. A Patologia Dual define-se pela coexistência de uma Adição e de outra patologia psiquiátrica. Metodologia Todos os pacientes internados para tratamento na Unidade de Tratamento para Álcool e Novas Dependências do Centro Hospitalar Psiquiátrico de Lisboa, durante seis meses, entre 1 de novembro de 2021 e 30 de abril de 2022, foram selecionados e avaliados quanto a características sociodemográficas e clínicas (idade, género, nível de educação, situação profissional e setor de atividade aquando da admissão, bem como diagnóstico principal à admissão e outras comorbilidades psiquiátricas). Realizada uma análise observacional retrospetiva focada na capacidade de trabalho dos doentes entre aqueles diagnosticados apenas com uma Adição (com ou sem uso de substância) e doentes com o diagnóstico de Patologia Dual. Resultados A amostra incluiu 78 pacientes com uma idade média de 51 anos. Destes, 31 foram diagnosticados com uma Adição e 47 com Patologia Dual. Apenas 27% dos pacientes estavam com uma situação profissional ativa aquando da admissão hospitalar, com 15% em situação de incapacidade temporária para o trabalho, 41% em situação de desemprego e 17% na reforma. As principais áreas de atividades presentes na amostra pertenciam a três setores, sendo que 29% dos pacientes trabalhava no setor da restauração, hotelaria, transportes e outros serviços de lazer, 19% no setor da construção e 17% no setor da saúde, educação e serviços sociais. As taxas de desemprego presentes entre pacientes diagnosticados com Adição foram semelhantes à dos pacientes diagnosticados com Patologia Dual. No entanto, 39% dos pacientes com Adição encontravam-se com uma situação profissional ativa, enquanto que apenas 19% dos diagnosticados com Patologia Dual estavam profissionalmente ativos. Observamos ainda que 34% dos pacientes com patologia dual trabalhavam no setor da restauração, hotelaria, transportes e outros serviços de lazer. Conclusões Os resultados demonstram que a Patologia Dual pode ter um impacto significativo na capacidade de trabalho da população e sugerem que existem diferenças importantes entre os setores de atividade profissional em pacientes com ou sem o diagnóstico de Patologia Dual, contudo, são necessários estudos mais alargados nesta área.

ABSTRACT Objective To analyze the impact of Dual Diagnosis on patient’s work capacity and verify if the professional activity sector matters. Dual Diagnosis is defined by the coexistence of an Addiction and another psychiatric disorder. Methodology All patients admitted for inpatient treatment at Alcohol and New Addiction’s Treatment Unit from Lisbon’s Psychiatric Hospital Center, for six months, between 1st November 2021 and 30th April 2022, were selected and screened for sociodemographic and clinical characteristics (age, gender, education level, professional situation, and activity sector at admission as well as main admission diagnosis and other psychiatric comorbidities). Retrospective observative analysis focused on patient’s work capacity was conducted between patients who had been diagnosed with an Addiction Disorder and patients with Dual Diagnosis. Results Our sample had 78 patients and an average age of 51 years. From those, 31 had diagnosis of Addiction Disorder and 47 had Dual Diagnosis. Only 27% patients were still active at admission, with 15% being with temporary incapacity certificate, 41% being unemployed and 17% retired. A significant part of our sample worked in accommodation, transportation, and food services activities (29%), construction sector (19%) and in healthcare, education, and social work activities (17%). The unemployment rates between patients with an Addiction Disorder and Dual Diagnosis were similar. However, 39% of patients with an Addiction Disorder were active while only 19% with Dual Diagnosis were in the same state. Also of interest was that 34% of those with Dual Diagnosis worked in accommodation, transportation, and food services activities. Conclusions These results show that Dual Diagnosis may have a significant impact in the working capacity and suggest that there are important differences between professional activity sectors in patients with or without dual diagnosis.

ABSTRACT Combining refrigeration with packaging is a commonly used technique for fruits intended for export. Thus, the objective of this study was to adapt the post-harvest management of biofortified sweet potato cultivars, using packaging and refrigeration, focused on reaching distant export markets while maintaining the commercial quality. Sweet potatoes of the cultivars BRS-Amélia and Beauregard were selected after harvesting, washed, and packaged. The experimental design used was completely randomized, in a 4 × 7 factorial arrangement consisted of 4 treatments (cultivar BRS-Amélia with and without packaging; and cultivar Beauregard with and without packaging) and 7 evaluations under storage conditions: at 0, 7, 14 (under refrigeration at approximately 8 °C), 17, 20, 23, and 26 days (under room temperature conditions at approximately 25 °C). Each experimental unit contained 500 g of tubbers. The results showed that the refrigerated storage combined with packaging extended the shelf life of the evaluated sweet potatoes: 17 days for BRS-Amélia and 26 days for the cultivar Beauregard. The BRS-Amélia cultivar maintained higher firmness, soluble solids and carbohydrate contents, chroma, and antioxidant activity (FRAP method), and total phenolic contents, in both raw and cooked tissues. The cultivar Beauregard presented less dehydration and greater stability in vitamin C, total phenolic, total carotenoid, soluble carbohydrate, and starch contents in raw and cooked potatoes. Therefore, the combination of packaging and refrigeration preserved the commercial quality of biofortified sweet potatoes for export markets.

RESUMO Combinar refrigeração com embalagem é uma técnica comumente utilizada para frutas destinadas à exportação. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi adequar o manejo pós-colheita de cultivares de batata-doce biofortificadas, utilizando embalagem e refrigeração, com foco em atingir mercados de exportação distantes e mantendo a qualidade comercial. As batatas-doces das cultivares BRS-Amélia e Beauregard foram selecionadas após a colheita, lavadas e embaladas. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado, em arranjo fatorial 4 × 7 composto por 4 tratamentos (cultivar BRS-Amélia com e sem embalagem; e cultivar Beauregard com e sem embalagem) e 7 avaliações nas condições de armazenamento: aos 0, 7, 14 (sob refrigeração a aproximadamente 8 °C), 17, 20, 23 e 26 dias (sob condições de temperatura ambiente a aproximadamente 25 °C). Cada unidade experimental continha 500 g de tubérculos. Os resultados mostraram que o armazenamento refrigerado aliado à embalagem prolongou a vida útil da batata-doce avaliada: 17 dias para BRS-Amélia e 26 dias para a cultivar Beauregard. A cultivar BRS-Amélia manteve maior firmeza, solúveis sólidos e teor de carboidratos, croma e atividade antioxidante (método FRAP) e teor de fenólicos totais, tanto nos tecidos crus quanto cozidos. A cultivar Beauregard apresentou menor desidratação e maior estabilidade nos teores de vitamina C, fenólicos totais, carotenóides totais, carboidratos solúveis e amido em batatas cruas e cozidas. Portanto, a combinação de embalagem e refrigeração preservou a qualidade comercial da batata-doce biofortificada para os mercados de exportação.

ABSTRACT Managing electrical conductivity levels is one of the fundamentals required to obtain greater production and better quality of vegetables. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of electrical conductivity of the nutrient solution on the kohlrabi crop cultivated in semi-hydroponic system. A randomized block design was used with five treatments associated with the electrical conductivity of the nutrient solution (1.31, 1.71, 2.37, 2.98, and 3.75 dS m-1) and four replications. The plants were harvested 78 days after transplanting and evaluated for growth, production, and postharvest quality. Nutrient solution with electrical conductivity (EC) of 1.31 dS m-1 promotes greater production of purple kohlrabi. The increase in EC reduced linearly most of the analyzed variables (leaf area, fresh mass of leaves, bulb and shoot, dry mass of leaves and total, bulb volume and firmness), with more significant losses for the bulb fresh mass (50.54%) and bulb volume (57.37%) variables. The use of nutrient solution with EC between 2.3 and 2.9 dS m-1 increased the vitamin C content and the titratable acidity.

RESUMO O manejo dos níveis de condutividade elétrica é um dos fundamentos necessários para se obter maior produção e melhor qualidade de hortaliças. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da condutividade elétrica da solução nutritiva na cultura da couve-rábano cultivada em sistema semi-hidropônico. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados com cinco tratamentos associados à condutividade elétrica da solução nutritiva (1,31; 1,71; 2,37; 2,98 e 3,75 dS m-1) e quatro repetições. As plantas foram colhidas 78 dias após o transplante e avaliadas quanto ao crescimento, produção e qualidade pós-colheita. Solução nutritiva com condutividade elétrica (CE) de 1,31 dS m-1 proporciona maior produção de couve-rábano roxa. O aumento da CE reduziu linearmente a maioria das variáveis analisadas (área foliar, massa fresca de folhas, bulbos e parte aérea, massa seca de folhas e totais, volume e firmeza de bulbos), com perdas mais expressivas para as variáveis massa fresca de bulbos (50,54%) e volume de bulbos (57,37%). A utilização de solução nutritiva com CE entre 2,3 e 2,9 dS m-1 aumentou o teor de vitamina C e a acidez titulável.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) is related to increased circulating endothelial microparticles (EMP). Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the plasma concentration of EMP between patients undergoing aortic valve replacement with conventional bioprosthesis implantation and Perceval™ S (LivaNova) and to evaluate its impact on the inflammatory response in the short-term follow-up. Methods: This is a randomized clinical trial with 24 patients submitted to isolated aortic valve replacement divided into two groups: Perceval™ S (Group P) and conventional bioprostheses (Group C). Incidence of severe SIRS (three or more criteria) in the first 48 hours postoperatively, EMP release profile, interleukins (IL) 6 and 8, C-reactive protein, and procalcitonin were analyzed preand postoperatively at 24 hours and three months. Results: There were 24 patients (12 in each group), mean age was 69.92±5.17 years, 83.33% were female, the incidence of severe SIRS was 66.7% and 50% in groups C and P, respectively (P=0.68), and EMP showed a significant increase in the 24-hour postoperative period (P≤0.001) and subsequent decrease in the three-month postoperative period (P≤0.001), returning to baseline levels. For IL-6 and IL-8, there was a greater increase in group C at 24 hours postoperatively (P=.0.02 and P<0.001). Conclusion: The incidence of severe SIRS was similar in both groups, with significantly higher levels of IL-6 and IL-8, at the 24-hour postoperative period, in group C, however with higher levels of EMP in group P, and subsequent return to baseline levels at the three-month postoperative period in both groups.

ABSTRACT: Nerium oleander, also known as “espirradeira” in Brazil, is a shrub or small tree widely used as an ornamental plant in temperate and subtropical regions of the world. Ingestion of N. oleander can cause intoxication due to the presence of cardioactive glycosides, in both humans and animals. This study aims to report the epidemiological, clinical, postmortem, and immunohistochemical features of an outbreak of natural intoxication by N. oleander in cattle and the use of immunohistochemistry (IHC) for troponin C, for the first time, in this intoxication in the species. Twenty-eight cattle had access to pruned branches of N. oleander and 20 animals started presenting clinical signs of apathy, anorexia, ataxia, tachypnea, tremors, and recumbency ten hours after the consumption. Eight cattle progressed to death 48 hours after the clinical progression and one was submitted for necropsy. Macroscopic findings included petechiae and ecchymosis on the epicardium and endocardium. Histologically, there were multifocal areas of necrosis of individual or multiple cardiomyocytes, mainly in the left ventricular papillary muscle. Immunohistochemistry for troponin C revealed decrease or absence of cytoplasmic immunolabeling in necrotic cardiomyocytes. Although intoxication by N. oleander is uncommon in cattle, it should be considered as a differential diagnosis for other conditions that cause sudden or acute death in livestock and IHC for troponin C is an auxiliary tool in the identification of peracute and acute cardiac lesions.

RESUMO: Nerium oleander, conhecido popularmente como “espirradeira” no Brasil, é um arbusto amplamente utilizado como planta ornamental em regiões temperadas e subtropicais do mundo. A ingestão de N. oleander pode causar intoxicação devido à presença de glicosídeos cardioativos, tanto em humanos, quanto em animais. Este trabalho tem como objetivo relatar os achados epidemiológicos, clínicos, patológicos e imuno-histoquímicos de um surto de intoxicação natural por N. oleander em bovinos e o uso da imuno-histoquímica (IHQ) para troponina C pela primeira vez nesse tipo de intoxicação na espécie. Vinte e oito bovinos tiveram acesso a galhos de N. oleander após poda e 20 desses bovinos apresentaram sinais clínicos de apatia, anorexia, ataxia, taquipneia, tremores e decúbito dez horas após a ingestão. Oito bovinos morreram 48 horas após o início do curso clínico e um animal foi submetido à necropsia. Os achados macroscópicos incluíram petéquias e equimoses no epicárdio e no endocárdio. Histologicamente, havia áreas multifocais de necrose de cardiomiócitos individuais ou múltiplos, principalmente no músculo papilar do ventrículo esquerdo. A IHQ para troponina C revelou uma acentuada diminuição ou ausência na imunomarcação citoplasmática em cardiomiócitos necróticos. Embora a intoxicação por N. oleander seja incomum em bovinos, ela deve ser considerada como diagnóstico diferencial para outras condições que induzam morte súbita ou aguda em rebanhos e a IHQ para troponina C é uma ferramenta complementar na identificação de lesões hiperagudas e agudas cardíacas.

ABSTRACT C3 glomerulopathies are a rare group of glomerular diseases resulting from excessive activation of the alternative complement pathway. The pathogenesis involves genetic, acquired, or immunologic defects in regulators of the alternative complement pathway. Currently, these diseases have a chronic course with progression to end-stage renal disease in up to 50% of adult patients. We report a case of a young woman who presented with nephrotic syndrome and renal disfunction. During follow-up, the diagnosis of C3 glomerulopathy associated with complement factor I deficiency was established. After relapse of nephrotic proteinuria, immunosuppressive therapy with mycophenolate mofetil and glucocorticoid was added to supportive care. There is no disease-specific therapy for C3 glomerulopathies, and treatment is focused on reducing proteinuria and renal inflammation. Supportive treatment with ACE inhibitors or angiotensin receptor blockers is the first-line therapy. Immunosuppressive therapy with mycophenolate mofetil plus corticosteroids is associated with higher chances of clinical remission and lower risk of kidney failure. Complement targeting therapies, such as eculizumab, avacopan, danicopan, iptacopan, and pegcetacoplan, are being studied as potential new therapeutic options. This article highlights the need for more clinical trials to test new therapeutic agents, as well as to better understand the heterogeneity of the disease and its long-term outcomes.

Resumo A marula (Sclerocarya birrea) pertencente à família Anacardiaceae, é originária do bioma das savanas da África do Sul e da região da África oriental. É uma das árvores nativas mais valorizadas do sul da África por possuir propriedades medicinais e nutricionais de grande valor, entretanto existe um entrave na sua produção que é a dormência das sementes. Assim, objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar a influência do tempo de armazenamento na superação da dormência e na qualidade fisiológica de sementes de marula. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado, utilizando-se 400 sementes distribuídas aleatoriamente em 4 repetições de 100 sementes para analise biométrica. Para avaliação da qualidade fisiológica e superação da dormência das sementes os tratamentos consistiram em cinco períodos de armazenamento: 10 dias (testemunha); e 184; 244; 306; 367 e 428 dias após o colheita, com quatro repetições de 25 sementes por tratamento. Recomenda-se, o armazenamento das sementes de marula durante 367 dias após a colheita em condições ambientais (26±2 °C), por apresentarem melhor qualidade fisiológica.

Abstract Marula (Sclerocarya birrea) is a species of the family Anacardiaceae, native to the savanna biome in South and East Africa. It is among the most valued native trees of southern Africa due to its medicinal and nutritional properties; however, the dormancy of its seeds makes the production of marula difficult. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of storage times on dormancy breaking and physiological quality of marula seeds. A completely randomized experimental design was used, with four 100-seed replications for evaluating seed biometry. Physiological quality and dormancy breaking were evaluated through treatments consisted of five storage periods: 10 (control), 184, 244, 306, 367, and 428 days after harvest, with four 25-seed replications per treatment. Storing marula seeds under room conditions (26±2 °C) for 367 days after harvest is recommended for a better physiological quality of the seeds.

Abstract. Sandy beaches are among the most extensive coastal ecosystems in Brazil and constitute important buffer zones between terrestrial and marine environments. The present study aimed to analyze the distribution and spatiotemporal variation of the meiofaunal community of an urban tropical sandy beach in northeastern Brazil with a particular focus on nematofauna. We set up 4 transects during 2 sampling periods to evaluate different beach zones. The meiofauna comprised 8 taxa, and the nematofauna consisted of 5 orders, 16 families, and 45 genera. The meiofaunal communities followed the qualitative-quantitative standards of those of other tropical sandy beaches in northeastern Brazil. The nematofaunal community showed variation in its composition and trophic structure between dry and rainy months, which were not significantly correlated with granulometric characteristics. This suggests that other variables may influence the structure of nematofaunal communities in Gaibu Beach. Further research on the biodiversity of the meiofaunal communities on sandy beaches in northeastern Brazil is urgently needed given the lack of available information of these environments and the extreme stress they are currently under.

Resumen. Las playas arenosas son uno de los ecosistemas costeros más extensos de Brasil y constituyen importantes zonas de amortiguamiento entre el ambiente terrestre y el marino. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar la distribución y la variación espaciotemporal de la comunidad meiofaunal de una playa arenosa tropical urbana con particular énfasis en la nematofauna. Establecimos 4 transectos durante 2 periodos de muestreo para evaluar diferentes zonas de playa. La meiofauna estuvo compuesta por 8 taxones, y la nematofauna consistió en 5 órdenes, 16 familias y 45 géneros. Las comunidades meiofaunales siguieron los estándares cualitativos-cuantitativos de las de otras playas arenosas tropicales en el noreste de Brasil. La comunidad nematofaunal presentó variación en su composición y estructura trófica entre los meses secos y los lluviosos, los cuales no presentaron correlación significativa con las características granulométricas. Esto sugiere que otras variables pueden influir en la estructura de las comunidades nematofaunales en la playa de Gaibu. Se requieren urgentemente más estudios de investigación sobre la biodiversidad de las comunidades meiofaunales en las playas arenosas del noreste de Brasil debido a la falta de información disponible sobre estos ambientes y el estrés extremo bajo al que están sujetas.

Resumo Objetivo: explorar e descrever como as enfermeiras perioperatórias avaliam e interpretam o comportamento da criança antes de entrar na sala de cirurgia, identificando as estratégias que utilizam para minimizar a ansiedade e as propostas de melhoria. Método: estudo qualitativo descritivo utilizando entrevistas semiestruturadas e observação participante das rotinas diárias. Análise temática dos dados. O estudo segue os critérios recomendados para publicação de artigos da metodologia qualitativa Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research. Resultados: quatro temas emergiram dos dados: a) avaliação da ansiedade ou comunicação próxima com a criança e sua família; b) analisando o que foi observado; c) controlando a ansiedade e d) melhorando a avaliação ou propostas de melhoria na prática diária. Conclusão: as enfermeiras avaliam a ansiedade em sua prática diária por meio da observação e usando julgamento clínico. A experiência da enfermeira é decisiva na avaliação adequada da ansiedade pré-operatória da criança. A falta de tempo entre a espera e o momento de entrar na sala de cirurgia, a escassez de informação que a criança e os pais têm sobre o processo cirúrgico e a ansiedade dos pais, dificultam a avaliação e o controle adequado da ansiedade. Resumen Objetivo: explorar y describir cómo las enfermeras perioperatorias evalúan e interpretan el comportamiento del niño antes de entrar a quirófano, identificando las estrategias que utilizan para minimizar la ansiedad y las propuestas de mejora. Método: estudio cualitativo descriptivo mediante entrevistas semiestructuradas y observación participante de las rutinas diarias. Análisis temático de los datos. El estudio sigue las recomendaciones de criterios para la publicación de artículos de metodología cualitativa Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research. Resultados: cuatro temas surgieron de los datos: a) evaluación de la ansiedad o comunicación estrecha con el niño y su familia; b) valorando lo observado; c) manejando la ansiedad y d) mejorando la evaluación o propuestas de mejora para la práctica diaria. Conclusión: enfermeras evalúan la ansiedad en su práctica diaria de forma observacional utilizando el juicio clínico. La experiencia de la enfermera es determinante en la adecuada evaluación de la ansiedad prequirúrgica del niño. Abstract Objective: to explore and describe how perioperative nurses assess and interpret the child’s behavior before entering the operating room, identifying the strategies they use to reduce anxiety and the proposals for improvements. Method: descriptive qualitative study using semi-structured interviews and participant observation of daily routines. Thematic analysis of data. This study follows the recommended criteria for publication of articles of the qualitative methodology Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research. Results: four topics emerged from the data: a) assessment of anxiety or close communication with the child and their family; b) evaluating what was observed; c) managing anxiety and d) improving the assessment or proposals for improvements in daily practice. Conclusion: nurses assess anxiety in their daily practice through observation using their clinical judgment. The nurse’s experience is decisive for the appropriate assessment of the preoperative anxiety in child. Insufficient time between waiting and entering the operating room, lack of information from child and their parents about the surgical procedure, and parental anxiety make it difficult to assess and properly manage anxiety. RESUMEN Objetivos. Caracterizar el estado del hierro y proponer factores de ajuste de hemoglobina por altitud, en niños de 6 a 8 meses de Lima, Arequipa, Cusco y Puno. Materiales y métodos. Estudio transversal en niños de 6 a 8 meses de edad en cuatro ciudades, se midió hemoglobina y otros biomarcadores de hierro, Proteína C reactiva (PCR), entre otros. Para estimar la ecuación de ajuste, se aplicó una regresión exponencial y excluimos a los niños con deficiencia de hierro (DH) y/o inflamación. Resultados. Las proporciones de DH fueron mayores en Puno y Arequipa, mientras que la inflamación no superó el 19% en ninguna de las ciudades. La hemoglobina mostró un incremento exponencial a mayor altitud. La ecuación de ajuste fue: 10,34249 x (1,00007 ^ Alt). Conclusiones. Los niños residentes en Arequipa y Puno mostraron mayores proporciones de DH y menores reservas de hierro; además el aumento de la hemoglobina por altitud fue exponencial evidenciando la necesidad de ajustar la hemoglobina en altura.

ABSTRACT Objective. To describe the iron status profile and to propose hemoglobin adjustment factors for altitude for children aged 6 to 8 months in Lima, Arequipa, Cusco and Puno. Materials and methods. Cross-sectional study in children aged 6 to 8 months from four cities. We measured hemoglobin and other iron biomarkers, C-reactive protein (CRP), among others. To estimate the adjustment equation, we applied an exponential regression. We excluded children with iron deficiency (ID) and/or inflammation. Results. The proportions of ID were higher in Puno and Arequipa, while inflammation did not exceed 19% in any of the cities. Hemoglobin showed an exponential increase at higher altitude. The adjustment equation was: 10.34249 x (1.00007 ^ Alt). Conclusions. Children residing in Arequipa and Puno showed higher rates of ID and lower iron reserves; furthermore, the increase in hemoglobin by altitude was exponential, showing the need to adjust hemoglobin at altitude.

Among stimulant drugs, cocaine deserves attention due to its high rates of seizures worldwide. This work presents the synthesis and characterization of hybrid molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for use in preparing biological samples using a homemade microextraction in a packed sorbent device to extract cocaine. The MIPs synthesized using caffeine and cocaine as templates have been compared. Caffeine was used due to its low value and be easier to obtain than cocaine. Additionally, restricted access molecularly imprinted polymers (RAMIPs) were also produced for comparison purposes. Introdução: A artroplastia da anca é uma das cirurgias ortopédicas mais comuns, sobretudo na população em idade mais avançada. A sua realização acontece sobretudo por existência de patologia osteoarticular - artrose da anca e frequentemente por fratura proximal do fémur. Objetivos: Conhecer e sumarizar o conhecimento existente relativamente ao benefício da intervenção da enfermagem de reabilitação no perioperatório da pessoa submetida a artroplastia da anca, afim de justificar a criação e implementação de programas de enfermagem de reabilitação no período perioperatório desta população. Métodos: Realizou-se uma Rapid Review seguindo as guidelines da Cochrane Collaboration`s. Definiu-se a seguinte questão de investigação, tendo por base o acrónimo PI(C)O: Quais os benefícios (Outcome) da intervenção do Enfermeiro Especialista de Reabilitação (EER) (Intervention) no período perioperatório da pessoa submetida a artroplastia da anca (Population)? Resultados: Foram selecionados doze estudos que apresentavam evidência pertinente. Nos estudos foi possível identificar várias intervenções de reabilitação que se encontram no âmbito das competências dos EER, nomeadamente: ensino pré-operatório e sessões de reabilitação motora, incluindo treino de Atividades de Vida Diária (AVD). Estas intervenções estão associadas a uma melhoria da funcionalidade, independência e aumento da força muscular. Promovem o conforto, diminuição da dor e rigidez articular e aumentam a capacidade para a realização das AVD. Aumentam também a qualidade de vida e satisfação com os cuidados de saúde, permitindo reduzir o tempo de recuperação e de internamento hospitalar. Conclusões: A evidência sugere que a existência de equipas de reabilitação no período perioperatório pode ser profícua, quer para os clientes submetidos a artroplastia da anca, quer para as entidades prestadoras de cuidados pelos benefícios de custo-efetividade.

Introduction: Hip arthroplasty is one of the most common orthopedic surgeries, especially in the elderly population. It is carried out mainly due to the existence of osteoarticular pathology - hip arteritis and frequently due to proximal fracture of the femur. Objectives: To know and summarize the existing knowledge regarding the benefit of rehabilitation nursing intervention in the perioperative period of the person undergoing hip arthroplasty, in order to justify the creation and implementation of rehabilitation nursing programs in the perioperative period of these people. Methods: A Rapid Review was carried out following the Cochrane Collaboration`s guidelines. The following research question was defined, based on the acronym PI(C)O: What are the benefits (Outcome) of the rehabilitation nursing interventions (Intervention) in the perioperative period of the person undergoing hip arthroplasty (Population)? Results: Twelve studies that presented relevant evidence were selected. In the studies, it was possible to identify several rehabilitation interventions that are within the competence of specialist rehabilitation nurses, namely: preoperative teaching and motor rehabilitation sessions, including ADL training. These interventions allow to improve functionality, independence, by increasing muscle strength. They promote comfort, decrease pain and joint stiffness and increase the ability to perform Activities of Daily Living. They also increase the quality of life and satisfaction with health care, allowing a reduction in recovery time and hospital stay. Conclusions: Evidence suggests that the existence of rehabilitation teams in the perioperative period can be beneficial both for clients undergoing hip arthroplasty and for providers of care due to the cost-effectiveness benefits.

ABSTRACT This research aimed to compare the functional autonomy between physically inactive and physically active elderly women. In this study, the sample was divided into one group of inactive elderly women (GI; n= 28, age 67,64± 7,73) and one group of physically active elderly women (GPA; n= 28, age 68,64± 8,40). The functional autonomy was evaluated through the tests of Latin-American Development Group for the Elderly (GDLAM), based on: walking 10 meters (W10m), getting up from a sitting position (SUSP), standing up from a lying position (SULP), stand up from a chair and walk straightaway (SUCWA), dress and undress T-shirt (DUT) and GDLAM Index (GI). In the correlation of the groups, it can be observed that GPA showed better values on tests than GS and the significative difference (p< 0,05) into groups on tests (W10m, SUSP, SULP, SUCWA and GI). It can be inferred that GPA showed a better level of functional autonomy than GI, confirming scientific recommendations about the benefic effects of physical activity on functional capacity.

RESUMO O objetivo do presente estudo foi comparar a autonomia funcional entre idosas sedentárias e idosas fisicamente ativas. Para este estudo qualitativo, a amostra foi dividida em grupo de sedentárias (GS; n= 28, idade 67,64± 7,73) e grupo de idosas fisicamente ativas (GFA; n= 28, idade 68,64± 8,40). A autonomia funcional foi avaliada através dos testes do Grupo de Desenvolvimento Latino-Americano para a Maturidade (GDLAM), composto de: caminhar 10m (C10m), levantar-se da posição sentada (LPS), levantar-se da posição de decúbito ventral (LPDV), levantar-se da cadeira e locomover-se pela casa (LCLC), teste de vestir e tirar uma camiseta (VTC) e o índice GDLAM. Na correlação dos grupos com os testes realizados, pôde-se observar que o GFA apresentou melhores valores nos testes do que o GS e que existiu diferença significativa (p< 0,05) entre os dois grupos nos testes de C10m, LPS, LPDV, LCLC e IG. Pode-se depreender que o GFA apresentou melhor nível de autonomia funcional quando comparado com o GS, corroborando com as recomendações científicas acerca dos efeitos benéficos da atividade física sobre a capacidade funcional.
