Abstract The Federal University of Goiás (UFG) and the University of Brasília (UnB), in partnership with the company Eletrobras Furnas, have developed research and, based on this, extension projects aimed at education in a broad sense, in which they seek to disseminate and popularise technical-scientific knowledge. This paper aims to present and evaluate educational actions carried out in the area of soil science and geotechnics applied to engineering, geography, and the environment. To do so, the educational experiences developed within the scope of two extension projects are shared. Besides that, the relevance of publishing books and primer, with language adapted to lay society, within the scope of research projects, is analysed. The results collected regarding the effectiveness of the extension actions as a tool for learning point to a positive evaluation by the students. Furthermore, social networks are an important tool for scientific dissemination and have the potential to disseminate knowledge more widely than in a classroom course. By comparing the number of citations in Google Scholar of the books and booklets with the papers arising from these projects, one can observe the reach of this type of publication, although its purpose is the popularisation of science, with reach in places not considered in the technical-scientific publication metrics. Finally, for effective scientific development, it is necessary to have public policies, effective interaction between universities, research centres and schools, and the participation of professional associations, funding and evaluation agencies, Education Departments and the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation.

Abstract In this article we analyze the “Maurício case”, a series of utterances that unfolded after the volleyball player Maurício Souza commented on a comic book image in which Superman’s son kisses another man. Looking at the practical uses of the categories “homophobia” and “freedom of speech”, we demonstrate how two competing ideas of democracy inform the debate, which we describe using a analytical term: “coalition”. We conceptualize coalitions as communicational structures that operate in contexts characterized by antagonisms, constituting positions of allies and enemies. Through coalitions we arrive at the two different epistemes that shape the debate: a pluralist one organized in the language of identity and for which democracy is validated by the inclusion of these differences (anti-Maurício); the other majorist and anti-pluralist (pro-Maurício), based on universalist categories, such as nation and God. We draw on material collected between October 2021 and January 2022, on social networks and news portals.

Resumo Neste artigo analisamos o caso Maurício, série de enunciações produzidas após o jogador de vôlei Maurício Souza comentar uma imagem em quadrinhos na qual o filho do Super-Homem beija outro rapaz. A partir da observação dos usos práticos das categorias ‘homofobia’ e ‘liberdade de expressão’, demonstramos como ideias concorrentes de democracia informam o debate, que descrevemos a partir da categoria coalizão. Conceituamos coalizões como estruturas comunicacionais que operam em contextos marcados por antagonismos, constituindo posições de aliados e inimigos. Por meio das coalizões chegamos às duas diferentes epistemes que conformam o debate: uma pluralista, organizada na língua da identidade e para a qual a democracia se valida pela inclusão dessas diferenças (anti-Maurício); a outra majoritarista e antipluralista (pró-Maurício), assentada em categorias universalistas, como nação e Deus. Trabalhamos com base em material coletado entre outubro de 2021 e janeiro de 2022, em redes sociais e portais de notícias.

Resumo Este artigo analisa a agenda governamental estratégica para enfrentamento da COVID-19 no Brasil, com foco na atenção hospitalar. Foram analisados 28 Planos de Contingência na íntegra, sendo 01 nacional, 26 estaduais e 01 do Distrito Federal. Utilizou-se o referencial teórico do Ciclo da Política Pública, especificamente os momentos de pré-decisão e decisão governamental para o enfrentamento da pandemia. As evidências revelaram convergências entre os níveis nacional e estaduais quanto às propostas de reorientação do fluxo de atendimento, detecção dos casos e indicação de hospitais de referência. Todavia, as agendas estaduais demonstraram fragilidades correlacionadas à aquisição de aparelhos de ventilação mecânica, dimensionamento de recursos humanos, regionalização da atenção hospitalar, além de poucos estados terem estabelecido um método de cálculo de leitos de retaguarda, principalmente quanto a previsão de abertura de hospitais de referência ou contratação complementar de leitos de UTI. Conclui-se que a heterogeneidade de ações explicitadas nos planos revelaa complexidade do processo de enfrentamento da COVID-19 no Brasil com suas desigualdades regionais, fragilidades dos sistemas estaduais de saúde e reduzida coordenação do Ministério da Saúde.

Abstract This paper analyzes the government’s strategic agenda for coping with COVID-19 in Brazil, focusing on hospital care. Twenty-eight Contingency Plans were analyzed in full, one national, 26 at state level, and one from the Federal District. The Public Policy Cycle’s theoretical framework was used, specifically governmental pre-decision and decision to face the pandemic. The evidence revealed convergences between the national and state levels concerning proposals for reorienting care flow, detecting cases, and indicating referral hospitals. However, the state agendas revealed weaknesses in acquiring mechanical ventilation devices, sizing human resources, and regionalizing hospital care. Moreover, few states have established a method for calculating back-end beds, mainly regarding the outlook of opening hospitals of reference or contracting additional ICU beds. We can conclude that the heterogeneous actions explained in the plans show the complex process of coping with COVID-19 in Brazil with its regional inequalities, weaknesses in the state health systems, and reduced coordination by the Ministry of Health.

Resumo: Neste artigo, acompanharemos o processo de formação do ativismo católico antidireitos sexuais e reprodutivos e antigênero na Igreja Católica, descrevendo alguns de seus momentos e características centrais. Retraçaremos as linhas da política institucional instituída pelo Vaticano que culminaram na explosão militante católica contrária a esses temas. Analisaremos desde a organização da ofensiva doutrinária e acadêmico-científica, marcada pela produção de concepções teológicas e pela sua defesa em termos não doutrinais, mas científicos, jurídicos e filosóficos por experts vinculados à Igreja Católica, até a organização da ofensiva pastoral, centrada na difusão das categorias antidireitos sexuais e reprodutivos e antigênero por meio de todo o aparato institucional da Igreja, desde seu topo até suas bases.

Abstract: This article will follow the process of formation, in the Catholic Church, of an activism opposed to the sexual and reproductive rights and opposed to the-gender. We will retrace the lines of institutional policy instituted by the Vatican that culminated in a Catholic militant explosion against these themes. We will analyze from the organization of a scientific, academic and doctrinal offensive, until the organization of the pastoral offensive, centered on the diffusion of categories against sexual and reproductive rights and against gender through the entire institutional apparatus of the Church.

Resumen: Este artículo seguirá el proceso de formación, en la Iglesia Católica, de un activismo anti-derechos sexuales y reproductivos y anti-género. Trazaremos las líneas de la política institucional instituida por el Vaticano que culminó en la explosión militante católica contra estos temas. Analizaremos desde la organización de una ofensiva científica, académica y doctrinal, hasta la organización de la ofensiva pastoral, centrada en la difusión de categorías anti-derechos sexuales y reproductivos y anti-género através de todo el aparato institucional de la Iglesia.

Abstract The baru (Dipteryx alata Vogel), is fruit tree displaying economic, environmental, industrial and food importance. The objective of this study was to adapt to the tetrazolium test methodology to baru seeds and evaluate the physiological quality of seeds stored for 12 months at 10 and 20 ºC, using X-ray images as a toll for detection damage throughout the storage period while also carrying out germination, emergence and electrical conductivity tests. Baru seeds remained viable for 12 months of storage, albeit with a small decrease in vigor after nine months. The applied tetrazolium test methodology was efficient in determining internal seed damage. The pre-soak time for the tetrazolium test and solution concentration was 24 hours and 0.05%. No changes in seed morphology and radiographic images were observed during the storage periods, regardless of the assessed temperature. The X-ray test enabled a precise visualization of internal baru seed structures.

RESUMO Este artigo visa caracterizar os padrões que regulavam a laicidade republicana e o secularismo católico no Brasil até a segunda metade do século xx e suas transformações atuais sob o impacto do pluralismo. Procuraremos demonstrar que, apesar de medidas laicizantes do Estado brasileiro ao longo da sua história, a religião católica e, mais recentemente, a religião em geral não perderam completamente seu poder de influência político-moral e que as tensões implicadas na expansão do pluralismo mais contemporaneamente não desalojaram o religioso do espaço social construído como secular.

ABSTRACT This article describes the postulates that guided Republican laity and Catholic secularism processes until the first half of the twentieth century and their current transformation under the impact of the intensification of religious diversity and their renewed public presence. We sought to demonstrate that, despite measures to establish a lay Brazilian state since the beginning of the Republican regime, the Catholic religion and, more recently, religions in general have not entirely lost their moral-political influence.

Resumo Fundamento A síndrome de takotsubo (takotsubo) é uma forma de cardiomiopatia adquirida. Dados nacionais sobre essa condição são escassos. O Registro REMUTA é o primeiro a incluir dados multicêntricos dessa condição no nosso país. Objetivo Descrever as características clínicas, prognóstico, tratamento intra-hospitalar e mortalidade hospitalar e em 1 ano de seguimento. Métodos Estudo observacional, retrospectivo, tipo registro. Incluídos pacientes internados com diagnóstico de takotsubo ou que desenvolveram esta condição durante internação por outra causa. Os desfechos avaliados incluíram fator desencadeador, análise dos exames, uso de medicações, complicações e óbito intra-hospitalar e em 1 ano de seguimento. O nível de significância adotado foi de 5%. Resultados Foram incluídos 169 pacientes, em 12 centros no Estado do Rio de Janeiro. A idade média foi de 70,9 ± 14,1 anos e 90,5% eram do sexo feminino; 63% dos casos foram de takotsubo primário e 37% secundário. Troponina I foi positiva em 92,5% dos pacientes e a mediana de BNP foi de 395 (176,5; 1725). Supradesnivelamento do segmento ST esteve presente em 28% dos pacientes. A fração de ejeção do ventrículo esquerdo teve mediana de 40 (35; 48)%. Observamos taxa de 25,7% de ventilação mecânica invasiva e 17,4% de choque. Suporte circulatório mecânico foi utilizado em 7,7%. A mortalidade intra-hospitalar foi de 10,6% e a mortalidade ao final de 1 ano foi de 16,5%. Takotsubo secundário e choque cardiogênico foram preditores independentes de mortalidade. Conclusão Os resultados do REMUTA mostram que takotsubo não se trata de patologia benigna como se pensava, especialmente no grupo de takotsubo secundário que acarreta elevada taxa de complicações e de mortalidade. Abstract Background Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) is an acquired form of cardiomyopathy. National Brazilian data on this condition are scarce. The Takotsubo Multicenter Registry (REMUTA) is the first to include multicenter data on this condition in Brazil. Objective To describe the clinical characteristics, prognosis, in-hospital treatment, in-hospital mortality, and mortality during 1 year of follow-up. Methods This is an observational, retrospective registry study including patients admitted to the hospital with diagnosis of TTS and patients admitted for other reasons who developed this condition. Evaluated outcomes included triggering factor, analysis of exams, use of medications, complications, in-hospital mortality, and mortality during 1 year of follow-up. A significance level of 5% was adopted. Results The registry included 169 patients from 12 centers in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Mean age was 70.9 ± 14.1 years, and 90.5% of patients were female; 63% of cases were primary TTS, and 37% were secondary. Troponin I was positive in 92.5% of patients, and median BNP was 395 (176.5; 1725). ST-segment elevation was present in 28% of patients. Median left ventricular ejection fraction was 40 (35; 48)%. We observed invasive mechanical ventilation in 25.7% of cases and shock in 17.4%. Mechanical circulatory support was used in 7.7%. In-hospital mortality was 10.6%, and mortality at 1 year of follow-up was 16.5%. Secondary TTS and cardiogenic shock were independent predictors of mortality. Conclusion The results of the REMUTA show that TTS is not a benign pathology, as was once thought, especially regarding the secondary TTS group, which has a high rate of complications and mortality. Nesse artigo realizaremos a análise dos documentários sobre a anencefalia produzidos no período em que a ação que julgava a permissão da antecipação do parto de fetos anencéfalos tramitou no Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF), entre 2004 e 2012. Duas questões serão observadas: a forma pela qual algumas figuras são construídas enquanto “vítimas” e a maneira pela qual a emoção e os sentimentos são acionados. Essas duas questões estão profundamente intrincadas na controvérsia em torno da anencefalia. Além dos documentários, também nos utilizaremos de passagens da audiência pública convocada pelo STF para esclarecimento sobre o tema. Ambos, documentários e audiência pública, são duas das cenas que compõem a controvérsia em torno da anencefalia. A partir da observação da exposição das experiências de pessoas concretas realizadas nessas duas cenas, observaremos como as emoções foram acionadas nessa disputa e de que maneira, a partir delas, procurou-se produzir sujeitos de direitos e figuras de vítimas.

This paper analyzes the documentaries on anencephaly produced during the period in which the Brazilian Supreme Court was ruling on the anticipation of the birth of anencephalic fetuses, between 2004 and 2012. It observes two questions: the manner with which some figures are constructed as “victims” and how emotions and feelings are triggered. These two issues are deeply intricate in the controversy surrounding anencephaly. Besides the documentaries, we will also use passages from the public hearing convened by the STF for clarification on the subject. Both documentaries and the public hearing are two of the scenes that make up the controversy surrounding anencephaly. From the exposure of these people's actual experiences performed in these two scenes, we will observe how this dispute triggered emotions and how it was intended to produce subjects of rights and figures of victims based on these emotions.

Dans cet article, nous analyserons les documentaires sur l’anencéphalie produits au cours de la période où l’action qui a jugé la permission de l’anticipation de l’accouchement de fœtus anencéphales a été réalisée à la Cour suprême brésilienne (STF) entre 2004 et 2012. Deux questions seront observées: la manière dont certaines figures sont construites comme des « victimes » et la manière dont l’émotion et les sentiments sont déclenchés. Ces deux questions sont profondément liées à la controverse autour de l’anencéphalie. Outre les documentaires, nous utiliserons également des extraits de l’audience publique convoquée par la Cour suprême pour obtenir des éclaircissements sur le sujet. Les documentaires et l’audience publique font partie de deux des scènes qui composent la controverse autour de l’anencéphalie. A partir de l’observation de l’exposition des expériences des personnes concrètes réalisées dans ces deux scènes, nous observerons comment les émotions ont été déclenchées dans ce conflit et comment, à partir d’elles, nous avons tenté de produire des sujets de droits et des images de victimes.

Abstract Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, publications have highlighted the disproportionate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on academic mothers, mostly focusing on the impact of social distancing and quarantine. A few months later, despite the lack of effective vaccines or therapeutics in sight, many economic activities are being resumed. Nurseries and schools are expected to be among the latest to reopen, which will amplify the impacts of the pandemic on academic mothers. In this letter, we unwrap the pandemic impacts on academic mothers and describe a set of specific short-, medium- and long-term policies that, if implemented, could reduce setbacks for gender equality during the pandemic and can help to level the playing field for academic mothers.

ABSTRACT Objective: To identify in Brazilian and international literature existing measurement instruments to measure the domains of knowledge, self-efficacy, attitude and treatment adherence in the context of sickle cell disease. Method: This was an integrative review conducted by searching articles in journals indexed in the CINAHL, LILACS, PubMed and WoS databases, according to the following inclusion criteria: original articles that used instruments to measure at least one of the studied domains (knowledge or treatment adherence or self-efficacy or attitudes of people with sickle cell disease, regardless of age of population), in the last 15 years (2003 to 2018). Results: Of the 379 articles found, 11 were included, and among these, five instruments were identified. Conclusion: The instruments identified in the literature review can provide indicators relative to the psychosocial and behavioral domains of sickle cell disease.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Identificar, en la literatura nacional e internacional, instrumentos de medición existentes para medir los dominios conocimiento, autoeficacia, actitud y adhesión al tratamiento en el contexto de la anemia falciforme. Método: Revisión integrativa realizada a través de la búsqueda de artículos en los periódicos indexados en las bases de datos: CINAHL, LILACS, PubMed y WOS, de acuerdo con los criterios de inclusión: artículos originales que utilizaron instrumentos para medir alguno de los dominios investigados (conocimiento o adhesión al tratamiento o autoeficacia o actitud de la persona con anemia falciforme, independientemente de la faja etaria de la población objetivo) de los últimos 15 años (2003 a 2018). Resultados: Fueron incluidos 11 artículos de los 379 relevados, habiéndose identificado cinco instrumentos. Conclusión: Los instrumentos identificados podrán brindar indicadores relacionados a los dominios psicosociales y conductuales relativos a la anemia falciforme.

RESUMO Objetivo: identificar, na literatura nacional e internacional, instrumentos de mensuração existentes para medir os domínios conhecimento, autoeficácia, atitude e adesão ao tratamento no contexto da doença falciforme. Método: revisão integrativa realizada por meio da busca de artigos nos periódicos indexados nas bases de dados: CINAHL, LILACS, PubMed e WOS, de acordo com os critérios de inclusão: artigos originais, que utilizaram instrumentos para medir algum dos domínios pesquisados (conhecimento ou adesão ao tratamento ou autoeficácia ou atitudes da pessoa com doença falciforme, independente da faixa etária da população alvo) dos últimos 15 anos (2003 a 2018). Resultados: foram incluídos 11 artigos dos 379 levantados, com cinco instrumentos identificados. Conclusão: Os instrumentos identificados poderão fornecer indicadores relacionados aos domínios psicossociais e comportamentais relacionados à doença falciforme.

Resumo Levando em conta a expansão do ativismo de diversas agências religiosas nas mais variadas arenas públicas nacionais, este artigo visa trabalhar o problema da reconfiguração recente do secularismo brasileiro. A partir da análise de três casos concretos – cerimônia de inauguração do Tempo de Salomão, repercussão midiática de uma pastora transgênera e controvérsias no Supremo Tribunal Federal envolvendo agentes religiosos –, procuraremos demonstrar como as diversas dinâmicas de produção de visibilidade observadas resultam em um novo entendimento do que é “fazer religião” em público e, no limite, modificam a configuração de nossa ordem jurídica secular. Seguindo por esse caminho e observando o modo como a publicização da experiência sacraliza (moraliza) problemas privados tornando-os públicos, constata-se que grande parte da eficácia da linguagem religiosa contemporânea está menos na imposição de uma mensagem do que na qualidade e plasticidade de suas encenações nas diferentes arenas.

Abstract This article analyses the problem of the recent reconfiguration of Brazilian secularism, taking into account the expansion of the activism of several religious agencies in the most varied national public arenas. We observed three empirical cases involving religious agents – the Solomon’s Temple Inauguration ceremony, the media’s repercussion of a transgender pastor and two controversies in the Federal Supreme Court – analyzing the different dynamics of production of visibility that results in a new understanding of what it is to “do religion” in public. In this sense, it was observed how to make the experience public sacralizes (moralises) the private problems and it has been found that the effectiveness of contemporary religious language cames much more from the quality and plasticity of its scenarios in the different arenas than of the imposition of a religion’s message.

RESUMO Objetivou-se analisar contratualização e prestação de contas adotados na publicização de serviços hospitalares no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) Bahia. Pesquisa qualitativa, sendo fontes contratos, relatórios trimestrais de gestão, entrevistas com atores da alta direção da atenção hospitalar no estado e características hospitalares segundo Cadastro Nacional de Estabelecimentos de Saúde. Conceitualmente, adotou-se prestação de contas e desempenho articulados à fase de implementação do Ciclo da Política Pública. A expansão das Organizações Sociais, que apresentou orçamento composto por parte fixa e variável que é condicionada ao desempenho, seus indicadores gerenciais e assistenciais, que são preestabelecidos, e o plano de metas justificam ocorrência de cortes e/ou reequilíbrios orçamentários. Todavia, quanto à cobertura assistencial, a baixa correlação entre metas contratuais e necessidades de saúde do território foi marcante. Os aditivos contratuais foram essenciais para ampliação dos leitos, porém não corresponderam à necessidade de mais recursos humanos e determinaram importante desafio para capacidade de reequilíbrios orçamentários. Ademais, sobre a metodologia de monitoramento e controle da tecnoestrutura, percebeu-se notória fragilidade, dada a insuficiência de indicadores e incipiente análise crítica do desempenho hospitalar apresentado nos relatórios. Considera-se que o modelo, que tem base doutrinária na perspectiva neogerencialista, foi implementado sem simultânea melhoria do monitoramento, nó górdio do poder contratante estatal.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to analyze contracting and rendering of accounts adopted in the publicity of hospital services in the Unified Health System (SUS) Bahia. Qualitative research, based on contracts, quarterly management reports, interviews with senior management of hospital care in the state, and hospital characteristics according to the National Register of Health Establishments. Conceptually, accountability and performance were adopted, with implementation of the Cycle of Public Policy. The Social Organizations presented a budget consisting of fixed and variable parts that is conditioned to performance, its management and assistance indicators are pre-established and the goals plan justifies the occurrence of budget cuts and/or rebalancing. The low correlation between contractual goals and health needs of the territory was striking. The contractual additives were essential for expansion of hospital beds, but did not meet the need for more human resources and determined an important challenge for the capacity of budgetary rebalancing. Moreover on the methodology of monitoring and control of the technostructure, a remarkable fragility was observed, given the insufficiency of indicators and the incipient critical analysis of the hospital performance presented in the reports. It is considered that the model, which has a doctrinaire basis in the neo-managerial perspective, was implemented without simultaneous improvement of the monitoring, Gordian knot of the contracting power of the state.
