O álcool esteve presente na maioria dos estudos, seguido da maconha e nicotina. O cenário predominante foi a unidade básica de saúde, com público de adultos de ambos os sexos e universitários. A maioria apresentou como proposta a Intervenção Breve grupal presencial e somente dez indicaram o referencial norteador da Intervenção Breve utilizada. No Brasil, as Intervenções Breves são incipientes e os estudos apresentados não destacam com exatidão o referencial norteador da intervenção utilizada.

Abstract This study aimed to use the petiole residues of miriti to partially replace pine wood and evaluate the effects of this incorporation on the physical and mechanical properties of the particleboards. Panels were produced with 0, 25, 50, and 75% of miriti in partial replacement of wood and 12% of urea-formaldehyde adhesive. The chemical-physical properties of miriti residues showed potential particleboard production as they were similar to those of pinewood. For the physical properties, the panels were classified as low density. There was an increase in the compression ratio and, consequently, in the hygroscopicity . For the mechanical properties, it was observed that the modulus of elasticity (MOE) and modulus of rupture (MOR) did not show any statistical differences. For perpendicular traction (PT), there was a significant reduction in 50%. Considering a general analysis of the physical and mechanical properties, up to 40% of mirti can be substituted, as in this situation they meet the properties mentioned in CS-236-66, except for PT for commercialization of the panels.

Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi utilizar os resíduos do pecíolo do miriti em substituição parcial da madeira de pinus e avaliar os efeitos dessa incorporação nas propriedades físicas e mecânicas dos painéis aglomerados. Os painéis foram produzidos com 0, 25, 50 e 75% de miriti em substituição parcial de madeira e 12% de adesivo uréia-formaldeído. As propriedades físico-químicas dos resíduos de miriti mostraram potencial de produção de aglomerados, uma vez que foram semelhantes às do pinus. Quanto às propriedades físicas, os painéis foram classificados como de baixa densidade. Houve aumento na taxa de compressão e, consequentemente, na higroscopicidade. Para as propriedades mecânicas, observou-se que o módulo de elasticidade (MOE) e o módulo de ruptura (MOR) não houve diferença estatística. Para tração perpendicular (TP) houve redução significativa de 50%. Considerando uma análise geral das propriedades físicas e mecânicas, é possível uma substituição em até 40% de miriti, pois nessa situação atendem as propriedades mencionadas na CS-236-66, com exceção da TP para a comercialização dos painéis.

Abstract Purpose To analyze the effect of national and global value chains on environmental innovation and research and development in the context of Brazilian companies listed on the Ibovespa. Theoretical framework Value chain and open innovation. Design/methodology/approach This is descriptive, documentary research that uses a quantitative approach, through the analysis of secondary data extracted from Refinitiv Eikon. The research population consisted of 70 non-financial companies listed on the Ibovespa between the years 2016 and 2020. Findings The global value chain affects environmental innovation and research and development (R&D) in a positive and significant way, revealing that companies with more evidence in their reports on formalizations with suppliers and customers show improvements in their environmental products with ecological designs and carry out more R&D spending. Those companies that have, in addition to national connections, connections with companies from other countries are more likely to have greater capacity for innovation. Practical & social implications of research The research helps in understanding how organizations can improve their value chain, considering geographic aspects and interorganizational relationships, providing more assertively innovative resources. Originality/value Although a national value chain does not influence any increase in environmental innovation, it does impact higher R&D spending. As eco-innovation involves voluntary disclosure, it is inferred that companies that are limited to maintaining relationships in Brazil do not receive the same institutional pressure, when compared to companies with a global value chain, since the latter are connected with firms in countries with greater enforcement mechanisms regarding sustainable practices.

Abstract Objective: To verify the students’ perception about diabetes in public schools. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study, with students’ interview to access their diabetes knowledge (signs and symptoms, food, and diabetes self-care at school). Content analysis was used for the open question, expressed by number of occurrences, and frequencies, means and standard deviations for the other results. Results: 302 students, with 9,1±1,5 years and 54% female. For “what is diabetes” there were 91 occurrences associated with negative consequences. For 95.4% of interviewees, people with diabetes cannot eat sweets, and for 32.8% diabetes is transmitted from person to person. Only 34.8% stated that the classmate with diabetes can participate in physical/recreational activities; and 32.1% replied that he/she could not have a snack with the others. Only 29.2% of the interviewees recognized that the classmate with diabetes would need to have something with sugar to eat/drink in case he/she feel bad. Conclusions: These results reinforce the need for action of diabetes education to improve students' knowledge and perception about diabetes in the school, as well as better management for students with this condition at that environment.

Resumo Objetivo: Verificar a percepção sobre o diabetes dos alunos de escolas públicas. Métodos: Estudo descritivo transversal, com entrevista aos alunos sobre diabetes (sinais e sintomas, alimentação e questões sobre o autocuidado no ambiente escolar), com análise de conteúdo para a questão aberta, expressa em número de ocorrências, e demais resultados em frequência, média e desvio padrão. Resultados: 302 estudantes, com 9,1±1,5 anos e 54% do sexo feminino. Termos associados a consequências negativas tiveram 91 ocorrências para “o que é diabetes”. Para 95,4% dos entrevistados a pessoa com diabetes não pode comer doces, e para 32,8% o diabetes é transmitido de uma pessoa para outra. Apenas 34,8% afirmaram que o colega com diabetes pode participar de atividades físicas/recreativas, e 32,1% responderam que ele não poderia lanchar junto com os demais. Somente 29,2% dos entrevistados reconheceram que o colega com diabetes precisaria ter consigo algo com açúcar para momentos em que se sinta mal. Conclusões: Estes achados reforçam a necessidade de melhorar o conhecimento e a percepção dos estudantes sobre o diabetes no ambiente escolar, propiciando condições mais harmoniosas e seguras de manejo do diabetes nestes espaços.

Método trata-se de um estudo transversal, do tipo web survey, desenvolvido com 166 mulheres idosas. Foram utilizados quatro instrumentos autoaplicáveis para a obtenção dos dados biosociodemográficos, da função sexual, sexualidade e qualidade de vida. A análise foi realizada com o teste de Mann-Whitney, correlação de Spearman e regressão linear, considerando um intervalo de confiança de 95%. Resultados a maior influência da função sexual foi observada na dimensão ato sexual da sexualidade (β=0,524; [IC95%=0,451-0,597]; p<0,001; R2=54,8%) e entre a faceta intimidade da qualidade de vida (β=0,501; [IC95%=0,380-0,622]; p<0,001; R2=29,0%). De modo geral, o modelo de regressão demonstrou que a função sexual permaneceu associada à sexualidade (β=0,888; [IC95%=0,749-1,028]; p<0,001; R2=49,1%) e à qualidade de vida das participantes (β=0,352; [IC95%=0,264-0,439]; p<0,001; R2=27,7%). Conclusão e implicações para a prática a função sexual está associada à sexualidade e à qualidade de vida das mulheres idosas, assumindo comportamento diretamente proporcional que, por sua vez, pode se tornar uma estratégia para agregar qualidade aos anos adicionais de vida dessa população.

Abstract Objective to analyze the sexual function and its association with the sexuality and quality of life of elderly women. Methods this is a cross-sectional web survey study developed with 166 elderly women. Four self-administered instruments were used to obtain biosociodemographic, sexual function, sexuality and quality of life data. The analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney test, Spearman correlation and linear regression, considering a 95% confidence interval. Results the greatest influence of sexual function was observed in the sexual act dimension of sexuality (β=0.524; [95%CI=0.451-0.597]; p<0.001; R2=54.8%) and between the intimacy facet of quality of life (β =0.501; [95%CI=0.380-0.622]; p<0.001; R2=29.0%). In general, the regression model showed that sexual function remained associated with sexuality (β=0.888; [CI95%=0.749-1.028]; p<0.001; R2=49.1%) and the quality of life of the participants (β=0.352; [CI95%=0.264-0.439]; p<0.001; R2=27.7%). Conclusion and implications for the practice sexual function is associated with the sexuality and quality of life of older women, assuming a directly proportional behavior which, in turn, can become a strategy to add quality to the additional years of life of this population.

El análisis se realizó mediante la prueba de Mann-Whitney, correlación de Spearman y regresión lineal, considerando un intervalo de confianza del 95%. Resultados la mayor influencia de la función sexual se observó en la dimensión acto sexual de la sexualidad (β = 0,524; [IC 95% = 0,451-0,597]; p <0,001; R2 = 54,8%) y entre la faceta intimidad de la calidad de vida (β = 0,501; [IC del 95% = 0,380-0,622]; p <0,001; R2 = 29,0%). En general, el modelo de regresión mostró que la función sexual permaneció asociada con la sexualidad (β = 0,888; [IC95% = 0,749-1,028]; p <0,001; R2 = 49,1%) y la calidad de vida de los participantes (β = 0,352; [IC95% = 0,264-0,439]; p <0,001; R2 = 27,7%). Conclusión e implicaciones para la práctica la función sexual está asociada a la sexualidad y calidad de vida de las mujeres mayores, asumiendo un comportamiento directamente proporcional que, a su vez, puede convertirse en una estrategia para agregar calidad a los años adicionales de vida de esta población.

Resumo Objetivo analisar a associação entre as vivências em sexualidade com as variáveis biossociodemográficas e a qualidade de vida de pessoas idosas. Métodos estudo transversal, desenvolvido com 1.922 pessoas idosas brasileiras, cujos dados foram coletados por meio de web survey. Utilizaram-se três instrumentos para a obtenção dos dados biossociodemográficos, da sexualidade e da qualidade de vida. A análise foi realizada com os testes de Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis, correlação de Spearman e regressão linear multivariada, com método de entrada “inserir”, adotando Intervalo de Confiança de 95%. Resultados a avaliação geral da sexualidade esteve associada fortemente com estado civil (p<0,001); religião (p=0,001); não ter filhos (p<0,001); orientação sexual (p=0,008) e recebimento de orientações sobre sexualidade pelos profissionais de saúde (p=0,002). A sexualidade correlacionou-se de forma positiva e com diferentes magnitudes com todas as facetas de qualidade de vida (p<0,001). A análise de regressão demonstrou que todas as dimensões da sexualidade permaneceram associadas, positivamente, com qualidade de vida: ato sexual [β=0,154; IC95%=0,083-0,225; p<0,001]; relações afetivas [β=0,335; IC95%=0,263-0,407; p<0,001] e adversidades física e social [β=1,388; IC95%=1,206-1,571; p<0,001]. Conclusão e implicações para a prática: a sexualidade associou-se, significativamente, com algumas variáveis biossociodemográficas e esteve correlacionada, positivamente, com a qualidade de vida das pessoas idosas investigadas.

Abstract Objective to analyze the association between experiences of sexuality with bio-socio-demographic variables and quality of life of elderly people. Methods cross-sectional study, developed with 1,922 Brazilian elderly people, whose data were collected through a web survey. Three instruments were used to obtain bio-socio-demographic data, sexuality and quality of life. The analysis was carried out with the Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis, Spearman correlation and multivariate linear regression tests, with the “insert” input method, adopting a 95% confidence interval. Results the overall assessment of sexuality was strongly associated with marital status (p<0.001); religion (p=0.001); not having children (p<0.001); sexual orientation (p=0.008) and receiving guidance on sexuality from health professionals (p=0.002). Sexuality correlated positively and with different magnitudes with all facets of quality of life (p<0.001). Regression analysis demonstrated that all dimensions of sexuality remained positively associated with quality of life: sexual act [β=0.154; 95%CI=0.083-0.225; p<0.001]; affective relationships [β=0.335; 95%CI=0.263-0.407; p<0.001] and physical and social adversity [β=1.388; 95%CI=1.206-1.571; p<0.001]. Conclusion and implications for practice sexuality was significantly associated with some bio-socio-demographic variables and positively correlated with the quality of life of the elderly people investigated.

Resumen Objetivo analizar la asociación entre experiencias en sexualidad con las variables biosociodemográficas y la calidad de vida de los adultos mayores. Métodos estudio transversal desarrollado con 1.922 ancianos brasileños, cuyos datos fueron recolectados a través de una encuesta web. Se usaron tres instrumentos para obtener datos biosociodemográficos, de sexualidad y de la calidad de vida. El análisis se realizó mediante las pruebas de Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis, correlación de Spearman y regresión lineal multivariada, con método de entrada “ingresar”, adoptando un Intervalo de Confianza del 95%. Resultados la evaluación general de la sexualidad se asoció fuertemente con el estado civil (p <0,001); religión (p = 0,001); no tener hijos (p <0,001); orientación sexual (p = 0,008) y recibir orientación sobre sexualidad por parte de profesionales de la salud (p = 0,002). La sexualidad se correlacionó positivamente y con diferentes magnitudes con todas las facetas de la calidad de vida (p <0,001). El análisis de regresión mostró que todas las dimensiones de la sexualidad permanecieron asociadas positivamente con la calidad de vida: relaciones sexuales [β = 0,154; IC95% = 0,083-0,225; p <0,001]; relaciones afectivas [β = 0,335; IC95% = 0,263-0,407; p <0,001] y adversidades físicas y sociales [β = 1,388; IC95% = 1,206-1,571; p <0,001]. Conclusión e implicaciones para la práctica la sexualidad se asoció significativamente con algunas variables biosociodemográficas y se correlacionó positivamente con la calidad de vida de los ancianos investigados.

ABSTRACT Despite the increasing use of plaster as a construction material, due to its numerous advantages when compared to cement, its use is still restricted, because of its low mechanical resistance and high solubility in water. In this context, research has been carried out related to the addition of nanomaterials to improve the mechanical and physical properties of plaster in civil construction. A highly available, low-cost nanomaterial with excellent properties is nanotalc. In this work, nanocomposites with dimensions of 40 × 40 × 160 mm were produced with ultrafine micronized nanotalc replacing plaster in proportions of 0%; 0.5%; 1%; 1.5% and 2%. The physical and mechanical properties of the nanocomposites were evaluated according to standards. The nanocomposites produced with 1% nanotalc showed satisfactory results for physical and mechanical properties, with an increase of 1.8% in apparent density and 24.12% in compressive strength, and a decrease in water absorption of 6.23%, compared to the composite without the incorporation of nanotalc. The production of nanocomposites with the incorporation of 1% nanotalc is viable and shown to be promising, presenting potential for application as linings and internal partitions, since they showed low water absorption due to the hydrophobicity of nanotalc.

ABSTRACT Background: Cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) requiring hospitalization continue to appear in vulnerable populations, highlighting the importance of novel treatments. The hyperinflammatory response underlies the severity of the disease, and targeting this pathway may be useful. Herein, we tested whether immunomodulation focusing on interleukin (IL)-6, IL-17, and IL-2, could improve the clinical outcomes of patients admitted with COVID-19. Methods: This multicenter, open-label, prospective, randomized controlled trial was conducted in Brazil. Sixty hospitalized patients with moderate-to-critical COVID-19 received in addition to standard of care (SOC): IL-17 inhibitor (ixekizumab 80 mg SC/week) 1 dose every 4 weeks; low-dose IL-2 (1.5 million IU per day) for 7 days or until discharge; or indirect IL-6 inhibitor (colchicine) orally (0.5 mg) every 8 hours for 3 days, followed by 4 weeks at 0.5 mg 2x/day; or SOC alone. The primary outcome was accessed in the “per protocol” population as the proportion of patients with clinical improvement, defined as a decrease greater or equal to two points on the World Health Organization’s (WHO) seven-category ordinal scale by day 28. Results: All treatments were safe, and the efficacy outcomes did not differ significantly from those of SOC. Interestingly, in the colchicine group, all participants had an improvement of greater or equal to two points on the WHO seven-category ordinal scale and no deaths or patient deterioration were observed. Conclusions: Ixekizumab, colchicine, and IL-2 were demonstrated to be safe but ineffective for COVID-19 treatment. These results must be interpreted cautiously because of the limited sample size.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to analyze the effects of sexuality on depressive symptoms and quality of life in older adults. Methods: a cross-sectional and analytical study, developed with 596 older adults, who completed four instruments for data collection. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test and Structural Equation Modeling, with a 95% Confidence Interval. Results: among the sexuality dimensions, only physical and social adversities exerted statistically significant effects on depressive symptoms (SC=-0.095; p=0.003), but with low magnitude. Moreover, all sexuality dimensions had statistically significant effects on quality of life, being of low magnitude for sexual act (SC=0.171; p=0.010) and for physical and social adversities (SC=0.228; p<0.001), and moderate magnitude for affective relationships (SC=0.474; p<0.001). Conclusions: effects of different magnitudes were observed between sexuality dimensions on participants’ depressive symptoms and quality of life.

RESUMEN Objetivos: analizar los efectos de la sexualidad sobre los síntomas depresivos y la calidad de vida en ancianos. Métodos: estudio transversal y analítico, desarrollado con 596 ancianos, que cumplimentaron cuatro instrumentos para la recolección de datos. Los datos se analizaron mediante la prueba de Kruskal-Wallis y el modelado de ecuaciones estructurales, con un Intervalo de Confianza del 95%. Resultados: entre las dimensiones de la sexualidad, solo las adversidades físicas y sociales ejercieron efectos estadísticamente significativos sobre los síntomas depresivos (CE=-0,095; p=0,003), pero de baja magnitud. Además, todas las dimensiones de la sexualidad tuvieron efectos estadísticamente significativos sobre la calidad de vida, siendo de baja magnitud para el acto sexual (CE=0,171; p=0,010) y para las adversidades físicas y sociales (CE=0,228; p<0,001), y magnitud moderada para las relaciones afectivas (CE=0,474; p<0,001). Conclusiones: se observaron efectos de diferente magnitud entre las dimensiones de la sexualidad sobre los síntomas depresivos y la calidad de vida de los participantes.

Métodos: estudo transversal e analítico, desenvolvido com 596 pessoas idosas, que preencheram quatro instrumentos para a coleta dos dados. Os dados foram analisados com o Teste de Kruskal-Wallis e a Modelagem de Equações Estruturais, com Intervalo de Confiança de 95%. Resultados: dentre as dimensões da sexualidade, somente as adversidades física e social exerceram efeitos estatisticamente significantes na sintomatologia depressiva (CP=-0.095; p=0,003), porém com fraca magnitude. Além disso, todas as dimensões da sexualidade exerceram efeitos estatisticamente significantes na qualidade de vida, sendo de fraca magnitude para o ato sexual (CP=0.171; p=0,010) e para as adversidades física e social (CP=0.228; p<0,001), e moderada magnitude para as relações afetivas (CP=0.474; p<0,001). Conclusões: observaram-se efeitos de diferentes magnitudes entre as dimensões da sexualidade sob a sintomatologia depressiva e qualidade de vida dos participantes.

Somente 29,2% dos entrevistados reconheceram que o colega com diabetes precisaria ter consigo algo com açúcar para momentos em que se sinta mal. Conclusões: Estes achados reforçam a necessidade de melhorar o conhecimento e a percepção dos estudantes sobre o diabetes no ambiente escolar, propiciando condições mais harmoniosas e seguras de manejo do diabetes nestes espaços.

Abstract Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is a polymer material that exhibits piezoelectricity, which is the ability of certain materials to generate an electric charge in response to applied mechanical stress. Electrospun nanofibers were prepared from a solution with 1800 mg PVDF (18 wt.%) powder dissolved in 7.5 ml of dimethylformamide (DMF) and 2.5 ml acetone. The experimental setup used in the electrostatic deposition process was developed in our laboratory. Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) showed that the fibers vary from 100 nm to 200 nm. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) measurements showed distributed and well-formed nanofibers, but with few incidences of beads. The Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDX) results showed that all points of the formed nanofibers have very similar chemical compositions, based on carbon and fluorine. Raman and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopic analysis revealed the characteristic bands related to β-phase in the sample, which is responsible for the piezoelectricity of PVDF.

ABSTRACT Objective: This study aims to present lines A1 and A2 in association with Kaplan’s cardinal line (LCK), and relate them to the thenar motor branch of the median nerve (RMTNM) and to the deep branch of the ulnar nerve (RPNU). Methods: Ten hands of five adult cadavers were dissected. Results: The RMTNM origin was positioned proximal to the LCK in all limbs. In two, the RMTNM was positioned exactly on the A1 line; in seven, it was on the ulnar side in relation to A1. In one, it was on the radial side relative to the A1. The origin of the RPNU was identified between the pisiform and the LCK in nine limbs; in one, the RPNU was positioned from the ulnar nerve in relation to A2; and in two, the A2 passed exactly at the point of division of the ulnar nerve into superficial branches and deep. We did not identify the positioning of the RPNU on the radial side of the A2 line. Conclusion: The impact of this study was to identify the anatomical trajectory of these nerves by detaching A1 and A2 along with the KCL, avoiding iatrogenic lesions during surgical procedures. RESUMO Objetivo: Apresentar as linhas A1 e A2 em associação com a linha cardinal de Kaplan (LCK) e relacioná-las ao ramo motor tenar do nervo mediano (RMTNM) e ao ramo profundo do nervo ulnar (RPNU). Métodos: Foram dissecadas dez mãos de 5 cadáveres adultos. Resultados: Em todos os membros, a origem do RMTNM posicionou proximal a LCK. Em dois, o RMTNM foi posicionado exatamente na linha A1, em sete foi no lado ulnar em relação à A1. Em um, foi no lado radial em relação à A1. A origem do RPNU foi identificada entre o pisiforme e o LCK em 9 membros, em um, o RPNU foi posicionado a partir do nervo ulnar em relação à A2, em dois, a A2 passou exatamente no ponto de divisão do nervo ulnar em ramos superficial e profundo. Não identificamos o posicionamento do RPNU no lado radial da linha A2. Conclusão: O impacto deste trabalho é que, ao destacar A1 e A2 juntamente com o LCK, conseguimos identificar a trajetória anatômica desses nervos e, evitar lesões iatrogênicas durante os procedimentos cirúrgicos. ABSTRACT Amazonian soils have been suffering severe changes resulting from human activities in the region, causing significant changes in soil attributes that can contribute to greater susceptibility to erosion processes. Therefore, the present work aimed to estimate the erodibility in natural and anthropic environments in the southern region of the Amazon. Eight areas in the region were selected, including areas of native forest, savannah, cerradão, pasture and reforestation, delimiting 32 sampling points per area, with collections at a depth of 0.00-0.20 m, totaling 256 samples. Next, texture analysis and quantification of soil organic carbon were performed, and then erodibility was estimated by indirect prediction methods, Tukey’s test, Pearson’s correlation and factorial analysis of principal components. According to the results obtained, it was observed that the evaluated areas of native forest 1 and 2, cerradão and pasture present high susceptibility to erosion in relation to the cerrado, reforestation with genipap, teak and mixed areas. Therefore, it was noted that the high level of erodibility is associated with a greater predominance of sand fraction, K factor, Ki Kr and low clay content, as well as with the management employed in the areas.

Abstract The study of adaptability and yield stability is essential for the selection and recommendation of new cultivars. Thus, this study determined the adaptability and yield stability of black bean genotypes for cultivar recommendation using a GGE biplot. To this end, nine trials were carried out at different locations in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Eleven genotypes were evaluated in three growing seasons, in a randomized block design, with three replications. Adaptability and stability of grain yield were analyzed by the GGE biplot method. The effects of genotypes, environments and of the genotype - environment interaction were significant, which explained the different responses of the genotypes to the tested environments. The GGE biplot analysis revealed Macaé as an ideal district for testing and high yield, adaptability, and stability of performance were observed for genotype CNFP 15290, which can be recommended for grain production in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
