ABSTRACT The objective was to evaluate the supplementation of fat-soluble and water-soluble vitamins on the performance and plasma concentrations of vitamins in modern hybrids pigs. A total of 144 commercial hybrid castrated male, 43.531 ± 1.099kg, were used in a randomized block design with six treatments, eight replicates and three animals per pen. The experimental treatments were different vitamin supplementation levels - 0, 25, 50, 75, 100, and 125% of the recommended by Rostagno et al. (2011) for male pigs in growth I (40 to 50kg), growth II (50 to 70kg), and finishing I (70 to 90kg) phases. For growth phases I and II, a linear effect (P<0.05) due to increase in vitamin supplementation was observed on performance. For finishing phase I and total phase, a linear effect (P<0.05) was observed with increased final average weight (FAW) and improved feed conversion ratio (FCR). For average daily weight gain (ADWG) and average daily feed intake (ADFI) a quadratic effect was observed (P<0.05). A linear (P<0.05) increase in plasmatic α-tocopherol and B12 was observed with the 125%. Thus, it is concluded that the 125% vitamin supplementation improved performance of modern hybrids pigs (40 to 90kg).

RESUMO Objetivou-se avaliar a suplementação de vitaminas lipossolúveis e hidrossolúveis sobre o desempenho e as concentrações plasmáticas de vitaminas em suínos híbridos modernos. Um total de 144 híbridos machos castrados, 43,531 ± 1,099kg, foram distribuídos em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com seis tratamentos, oito repetições e três animais por baia. Os tratamentos foram diferentes níveis de vitaminas - 0, 25, 50, 75, 100 e 125% do recomendado por Rostagno et al. (2011) para suínos machos nas fases de crescimento I (40 a 50kg), crescimento II (50 a 70kg) e terminação I (70 a 90kg). Para as fases de crescimento I e II, observou-se efeito linear (P<0,05) devido ao aumento na suplementação vitamínica sobre o desempenho. Para a fase de terminação I e a fase total, observou-se efeito linear (P<0,05) com o aumento do peso médio final (PMF) e melhoria da conversão alimentar (CA). Já para as variáveis de ganho de peso médio diário (GPMD) e consumo de ração médio diário (CRMD,) observou-se efeito quadrático (P<0,05). Houve aumento linear (P<0,05) em α-tocoferol e cobalamina plasmáticos devido à suplementação de 125%. Assim, conclui-se que a suplementação com 125% de vitaminas melhorou o desempenho de suínos híbridos modernos (40 a 90kg).

RESUMO Objetivou-se determinar a digestibilidade ileal estandardizada dos aminoácidos (SIAAD) do farelo de soja (FS), milho + FS, trigo + FS e uma dieta livre de proteína (PFD) com fitase. Um total de 672 pintos machos (493±10g), Cobb 500, foi distribuído em um delineamento inteiramente ao acaso, com 12 tratamentos (PFD, PFD + FS, PFD + milho + FS e PFD + trigo + FS, suplementados com 0, 500 e 1000 FTU), oito repetições e sete aves por gaiola, no período de 14 a 23 dias. A suplementação de fitase em 500 FTU aumentou o SIAAD da metionina do FS (P<0,05) e da treonina do milho + FS (P<0,05). Não houve efeito significativo (P>0,05) para o SIAAD de metionina, arginina e histidina no trigo + farelo de soja à medida que os níveis de fitase aumentaram. No entanto, o SIAAD de lisina, treonina, isoleucina, fenilalanina, valina, cistina, alanina, ácido aspártico, ácido glutâmico, glicina, serina e tirosina diferiu (P<0,05). Em geral, a SIAAD do FS, milho + FS e trigo + FS foi de 90,32, 88,65 e 83,97% sem a suplementação de fitase (0 FTU); 91,31, 88,81 e 88,36% (500 FTU); e 91,36, 87,09 e 87,87% (1000 FTU). Em conclusão, a eficácia da suplementação com fitase para aumentar a SIAAD varia de acordo com o alimento e o nível de suplementação.

ABSTRACT The objective was to determine the standardized ileal amino acid digestibility (SIAAD) in soybean meal (SBM), corn + SBM, wheat + SBM and a protein free diet (PFD) associated with phytase. A total of 672 Cobb 500 (493±10g) male chicks were distributed in a completely randomized design with twelve treatments (PFD, PFD + SBM, PFD + corn + SBM and PFD + wheat + SBM, supplemented with 0, 500 and 1000 FTU), eight replicates and seven birds per cage from 14 to 23 days. Phytase supplementation at 500 FTU increased the SIAAD of methionine in SBM (P<0.05) and threonine in corn + SBM (P<0.05). There was no significant effect (P>0.05) for the SIAAD of methionine, arginine and histidine in wheat + SBM as the phytase supplementation. However, the SIAAD of lysine, threonine, isoleucine, phenylalanine, valine, cystine, alanine, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, glycine, serine and tyrosine differed (P<0.05). In general, the SIAAD for SBM, corn + SBM and wheat + SBM are 90.32, 88.65 and 83.97% (0 FTU); 91.31, 88.81 and 88.36% (500 FTU); and 91.36, 87.09 and 87.87% (1000 FTU). In conclusion, the efficacy of phytase for improve the SIAAD vary according to the feedstuff and level of supplementation.

RESUMO Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito da suplementação de cromo-metionina em dietas para frangos de corte criados em estresse por calor, no período de 22 a 43 dias de idade, nos parâmetros de qualidade da carne. Foram utilizados 336 frangos de corte, machos, da linhagem Cobb 500, com 21 dias de idade, distribuídos em delineamento em blocos inteiramente ao acaso, com quatro blocos (cada câmara climática), seis tratamentos (0; 0,10; 0,20; 0,40; 0,80 e 1,20mgkg-1 de Cr na forma de Cr-metionina), oito repetições e sete aves por unidade experimental. Aos 43 dias de idade, duas aves por unidade experimental foram selecionadas e abatidas para avaliação da qualidade da carne de peito, por meio dos parâmetros de pH15min, pH24h, luminosidade (L*), teor de vermelho (a*), teor de amarelo (b*), croma (C*), ângulo hue (Hº), capacidade de retenção de água, perda de peso por cozimento e força de cisalhamento. Houve efeito quadrático (P=0,0070) na capacidade de retenção de água da carne de peito. A suplementação de CrMet não afetou (P>0,05) os demais parâmetros de qualidade da carne. Assim, recomenda-se a suplementação de 0,59mgkg-1 de CrMet para frangos de corte para melhoria da capacidade de retenção de água do peito.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to determine the metabolizable energy, standardized ileal amino acid digestibility (SIAAD) and digestible amino acid values of wheat meal (WM), wheat gluten meal (WGM), meat bone meal (MBM) and poultry-by-product meal (PPM) in diets for broilers. In the first experiment, the total excreta collection method was used, with 180 chicks with 14 days, distributed in a completely randomized design, with 4 feeds + reference diet with 6 replicates and 6 broilers each. In the second experiment, 180 broilers from 24 to 28 days old were used, distributed in a completely randomized design, with 4 feeds + one protein free diet with 6 replicates and 6 broilers each. The AMEn values of WM, WGM, MBM and PPM were 3052, 3174, 1556 and 3200 (kcal/kg), respectively. The average SIAAD of the essential and non-essential amino acids of WM, WGM, MBM and PPM were 74.21, 97.50, 69.28 and 83.08; 76.32, 96.42, 63.93 and 77.66, respectively. The values of the main digestible limiting amino acids were 0.18, 1.42, 0.41 and 0.94 for methionine; 0.20, 1.48, 1.73 and 2.73 for lysine; 0.23, 1.67, 0.72 and 1.89 for threonine; and 0.35, 3.22, 1.38 and 2.47 for valine, respectively for the feedstuffs in study.

Avaliou-se o efeito de estratégias nutricionais sobre o desempenho e as características de carcaça de suínos dos 30 aos 100kg. Foram utilizados 120 suínos, distribuídos em delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso, com cinco tratamentos e oito repetições de três animais por unidade experimental. Os tratamentos usados foram: dieta-controle = dieta com alta proteína bruta sem aminoácidos industriais; dieta baixa PB= dieta com baixa proteína bruta com aminoácidos industriais; dieta fitase = dieta-controle com suplementação de fitase; dieta orgânica = dieta-controle suplementada com minerais inorgânico-orgânicos; e dieta composta = dieta com baixa proteína bruta suplementada com aminoácidos industriais, fitase e minerais inorgânico-orgânicos. As dietas avaliadas não alteraram o desempenho e as características de carcaça dos suínos em comparação aos animais da dieta-controle. Conclui-se que a redução de proteína bruta, a suplementação com fitase e minerais inorgânico-orgânicos podem ser adotadas por não alterarem significativamente o desempenho nas fases de crescimento e terminação e as características de carcaças.

The objective was to evaluate the effect of different nutritional strategies on performance and carcass traits of pigs from 30 to 100kg. One hundred and twenty pigs were used, distributed in randomized blocks, with five treatments and eight replicates of three animals per experimental unit. Treatments were: control diet = corn-soybean based diet without synthetic amino acids; low crude protein diet = corn-soybean based diet with low protein and synthetic amino acids; phytase diet = control diet supplemented with phytase; organic diet = control diet supplemented with inorganic and organic minerals; and combination diet = diet with low protein supplemented with phytase and inorganic-organic minerals. Means were compared with the control diet by the Dunnett test. The diets evaluated did not alter the performance of pigs when compared to pigs fed the control diet. The reduction of crude protein, supplementation with phytase and inorganic-organic minerals can be adopted without significantly changing performance during the growing-finishing and carcass traits at 100kg.

Determinou-se a exigência de metionina + cistina para frangas de 13 a 18 semanas de idade e verificou-se seu efeito sobre a fase de postura. O experimento foi dividido em duas fases experimentais, recria e postura. Na fase de recria, 560 aves - 50% Lohmann LSL e 50% Lohmann Brown -, com 13 a 18 semanas de idade, foram distribuídas em delineamento inteiramente ao acaso, em esquema fatorial 5x2 (porcentagem de met+cis e linhagens), com quatro repetições e 14 aves por repetição. As porcentagens de met+cis totais estudadas foram 0,399; 0,469; 0,539; 0,609 e 0,679%. Ao atingirem 22 semanas de idade, 240 aves foram utilizadas para se avaliar o efeito residual das dietas oferecidas na fase de recria sobre o desempenho das aves, a produção e a qualidade de ovos. Ao se considerar a fase de produção, não se verificou efeito da inclusão de níveis de met+cis na ração, para ambas as linhagens. As exigências de metionina + cistina totais foram de 0,679% (0,611% de met+cis digestível) para aves leves e de 0,646% (0,581% de met+cis digestível) para aves semipesadas.

The methionine + cystine requirement was determined for pullets from 13 to 18 weeks of age and its effect was verified on the laying phase. The experiment was divided into two experimental phases. In the growing phase 560 birds (50% and 50% Lohmann LSL Lohmann Brown) at 13 to 18 weeks of age were distributed in a completely randomized factorial scheme 5x2 (methionine + cystine levels and lineages), with four replications and 14 birds per repetition. The levels of total methionine + cystine studied were 0.399, 0.469, 0.539, 0.609 and 0.679%. When they reached 22 weeks of age, 240 birds were used to assess the residual effects of the diets offered in the growing phase on performance of poultry, egg production and quality. Considering the production phase, there was no effect of the inclusion of methionine + cystine levels in the diet for both strains. The total methionine and cysteine was 0.679% (0.611% of digestible methionine + cystine) for light birds and 0.646% (0.581% methionine + cystine digestible) for brown-egg pullets.

Determinou-se a exigência de metionina + cistina para frangas de sete a 12 semanas de idade e verificou-se seu efeito sobre a fase de postura. O experimento foi dividido em duas fases, de cria e de produção, esta de 22 a 33 semanas de idade. Na primeira fase, utilizaram-se 640 aves - 50% Lohmann LSL e 50% Lohmann Brown - com sete a 12 semanas de idade, distribuídas em delineamento inteiramente ao acaso, em esquema fatorial 5x2 (porcentagem de met+cis e linhagem), com quatro repetições e 16 aves por repetição. As porcentagens de met+cis total estudadas foram 0,471; 0,541; 0,611; 0,681 e 0,751%. Ao atingirem 22 semanas de idade, 240 aves foram utilizadas para verificar o efeito residual das dietas fornecidas na fase de cria. A dieta fornecida nesta fase foi igual para todas as aves. As exigências de metionina + cistina para aves de reposição, leves e semipesadas, no período de sete a 12 semanas de idade, foram de 0,710 % de met+cis total (0,639% de met+cis digestível) e 0,706% de met+cis total (0,635% de met+cis digestível), respectivamente.

The experiment was divided into two phases, growing and production, which lasted from 22 to 33 weeks of age. In the first experimental phase we used 640 birds (50% and 50% Lohmann LSL Lohmann Brown) allotted in a completely randomized factorial scheme 5x2 (methionine + cystine levels and lineages), with four replications and 16 birds per repetition. The levels of total methionine + cystine studied were 0.471; 0.541; 0.611; 0.681 e 0.751%. When they reached 22 weeks of age, 240 birds were used to verify the residual effect of the diets fed during the growth period. The level of methionine + cystine for white-egg and brown-egg pullets in the period from 1 to 6 weeks of age were 0.710% of total methionine + cystine (0.639 % met+cis digestible) and 0.706 % of total methionine + cystine (0.635 % of met+cis digestible), respectively.

Para estimar as exigências de lisina digestível para mantença de galos adultos de diferentes genótipos e pesos corporais (Leghorn, ISA Label e Cobb 500), foram conduzidos três ensaios de metabolismo empregando-se a técnica do balanço de nitrogênio (BN). As aves foram distribuídas em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com cinco níveis de lisina digestível e seis repetições, sendo as unidades experimentais compostas por uma (ensaios 1) ou duas aves (ensaios 2 e 3). Em cada ensaio, a exigência de lisina para mantença foi obtida por meio da regressão linear do balanço de nitrogênio (mg/kg0,75/dia) pelo consumo de lisina digestível (mg/kg0,75/dia) e definida pelo consumo de lisina digestível necessário para manter o balanço de nitrogênio igual a zero. Para comparar as respostas dos diferentes genótipos, os dados de balanço de nitrogênio obtidos nos ensaios foram analisados por teste de paralelismo, utilizando-se como variável classificatória o genótipo e como covariável o consumo de lisina digestível. A exigência de lisina digestível, quando estabelecida com base no peso metabólico, não variou entre os genótipos e foi definida pela equação geral: BN = _122,163 + 2,706 CLis (P<0,001; r² = 0,67). Com base nesta equação, estimou-se a exigência de lisina digestível em 45,1 mg/kg0,75/dia (32,3 mg/kg/dia), independentemente do genótipo. Quando estabelecidas com base no conteúdo e no grau de maturidade da proteína corporal, as exigências de lisina para mantença de galos Leghorn, ISA Label e Cobb 500 são de 173,6; 164,0 e 140,9 mg/PBm0,73.u/dia, respectivamente.

To estimate the digestible lysine requirements for maintenance of roosters of different genotypes and body weight (Leghorn, ISA Label and Cobb 500), it was carried out three metabolic trials using the nitrogen balance (NB) technique. The birds were distributed in a completely randomized design with five levels of digestible lysine and six replications, and the experimental units consisted of one (trial 1) or two birds (trial 2 and 3). In each trial, the requirement of lysine for maintenance was obtained by linear regression of nitrogen balance (mg/kg0.75/day) by digestible lysine intake (mg/kg0.75/day), defined by the digestible lysine intake required to maintain nitrogen balance equal to zero. To compare the responses from the different genotypes, the nitrogen balance data obtained in the trials were analyzed by parallelism test, using the genotype as a classificatory variable and the digestible lysine intake as covariate. The requirement of digestible lysine did not vary among the genotypes, when it was established on the basis of metabolic weight, and was defined by the general equation: NB = _122.163 + 2.706 CLYS (P<0.001, r² = 0.67). Based on this equation, it was estimated the requirement of digestible lysine at 45.1 mg/kg0,75/day (32.3 mg/kg/day), regardless to the genotype. When they are established based on the content and degree of maturity of body protein, the lysine requirements are 173.6, 164.0 and 140.9 mg/PBm0.73.u/day for roosters Leghorn, ISA Label and Cobb 500, respectively.
