ABSTRACT Introduction: Events such as the Paralympic Games leave a series of legacies in the host societies. This is also applicable to the development of associated scientific knowledge, particularly in the field of sports biomechanics. Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the Brazilian scientific production in the field of biomechanics in Paralympic sports during the cycle that preceded and followed the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. Additionally, the study aims to provide insights for future research endeavors. Methods: The search was conducted on the Lattes Platform, utilizing the filters “Assunto” and “Doutores” and the keywords “Paralímpico” and “Paralympic.” In total, 723 authors were identified who published articles related to the topic. Subsequently, the curricula were accessed, and the articles were sorted and identified, resulting in 37 articles that met all inclusion criteria. Results: The results indicate that: a) Brazil witnessed an increase in the number of publications after London 2012; b) The majority of these productions (87%) originate from Public Institutions; c) There was a greater participation of other regions of Brazil in the production of knowledge in the area after Rio 2016; d) Individual modalities such as powerlifting and athletics were the most researched, despite Brazil's reference status in some collective modalities; e) Women remain a minority, both as participants in research and as authors of publications; f) The productions demonstrate high levels of quality; g) The most commonly used research techniques in biomechanics were kinematics and dynamometry. Conclusion: The field of biomechanics in Paralympic sports has significantly benefited from the legacy generated by the Rio 2016 Paralympics. As future challenges for researchers, the following aspects stand out: maintaining the quality of productions, expanding studies to include collective modalities, increasing the participation of other federated entities in the production of knowledge in this field, promoting greater gender equity, and incorporating new research techniques in biomechanics. RESUMEN Introducción: Eventos como los Juegos Paralímpicos dejan una serie de legados en las sociedades anfitrionas. Esto también es aplicable al desarrollo de conocimiento científico asociado, especialmente en el campo de la biomecánica deportiva. Objetivo: El objetivo de este estudio es investigar la producción científica brasileña en el campo de la biomecánica en deportes paralímpicos durante el ciclo que precedió y siguió a los Juegos Paralímpicos de Río 2016. Además, el estudio tiene como propósito brindar ideas para futuros esfuerzos de investigación. Métodos: La búsqueda se realizó en la Plataforma Lattes, utilizando los filtros “ Assunto “ y “Doutores” y las palabras clave “Paralímpico” y “Paralympic”. En total, se identificaron 723 autores que publicaron artículos relacionados con el tema. Posteriormente, se accedió a los currículos y se clasificaron e identificaron los artículos, lo que resultó en 37 artículos que cumplieron con todos los criterios de inclusión. Resultados: Los resultados indican que: a) Brasil experimentó un aumento en el número de publicaciones después de Londres 2012; b) La mayoría de estas producciones (87%) provienen de Instituciones Públicas; c) Después de Río 2016, hubo una mayor participación de otras regiones de Brasil en la producción de conocimiento en el área; d) Las modalidades individuales, como levantamiento de pesas y atletismo, fueron las más investigadas, a pesar del estatus de referencia de Brasil en algunas modalidades colectivas; e) Las mujeres siguen siendo una minoría, tanto como participantes en investigaciones como autoras de publicaciones; f) Las producciones demuestran altos niveles de calidad; g) Las técnicas de investigación más utilizadas en biomecánica fueron la cinemática y la dinamometría. Conclusión: El campo de la biomecánica en deportes paralímpicos ha sido significativamente beneficiado por el legado generado por los Juegos Paralímpicos de Río 2016. Como desafíos futuros para los investigadores, se destacan los siguientes aspectos: mantener la calidad de las producciones, ampliar los estudios para incluir modalidades colectivas, aumentar la participación de otras entidades federadas en la producción del conocimiento en este campo, promover una mayor equidad de género e incorporar nuevas técnicas de investigación en biomecánica. Objetivo: Investigar a produção científica brasileira produzida em biomecânica no esporte paralímpico no ciclo que antecedeu e sucedeu os Jogos Paralímpicos Rio 2016, além de fornecer insights para novos estudos. Métodos: Foram realizadas buscas na Plataforma Lattes, sendo habilitados os filtros “Assunto” e “Doutores”, com as palavras-chave “Paralímpico” e “Paralympic”. Ao todo, foram encontrados 723 autores que publicaram artigo(s) relacionado(s) com o tema. Após acessar os currículos, os artigos foram triados e identificados, resultando em 37 artigos que preencheram todos os critérios de inclusão. Resultados: Os resultados mostram que a) Após Londres-2012, o Brasil tem aumentado o número de publicações; b) Grande parte das produções (87%) são oriundas de Instituições Públicas, c) Após Rio-2016 houve uma maior participação de outras regiões do Brasil na produção do conhecimento na área, d) Apesar do Brasil ser referência em algumas modalidades coletivas, modalidades individuais como o powerlifting e o atletismo, são as mais pesquisadas, e) Mulheres ainda são minoria, tanto como participantes das pesquisas quanto na autoria das publicações, f) As produções atingem elevados extratos de qualidade, g) As técnicas de pesquisa em biomecânica mais utilizadas foram a cinemática e dinamometria. Conclusão: A biomecânica no esporte paralímpico tem se valido do legado gerado pelas paralimpíadas Rio-2016. Como desafios futuros para os pesquisadores, destacam-se: manutenção da qualidade das produções, ampliação dos estudos para as modalidades coletivas, aumento da participação de outros entes federados na produção do conhecimento na área, promoção de uma maior equidade de gênero e incorporação de novas técnicas de pesquisa em biomecânica. ABSTRACT Objectives: to identify and characterize the care provided to adolescents admitted to an emergency department due to a suicide attempt. Methods: an observational, cross-sectional, descriptive study with a retrospective approach, carried out with medical records of adolescents aged 10 to 19 admitted for suicide attempts, between January 2015 and July 2020, in an emergency department. Data were subjected to descriptive and inferential analysis. Results: eighty-eight service occurrences were identified, mainly to females, exposed to multiple risk factors. Exogenous intoxication was the main method used, occurring at home and on weekdays. There were systemic repercussions, requiring multiple interventions and hospitalizations. Only 26% of cases were notified. Conclusions: adolescents treated for suicide attempts were exposed to multiple risk factors, with intoxication as the main means used. There is concern about the underreporting of cases and the logic of clinical care and medicalization.

RESUMEN Objetivos: identificar y caracterizar la atención brindada a los adolescentes ingresados en un servicio de urgencias y emergencias por intento de suicidio. Métodos: estudio observacional, transversal, descriptivo, con enfoque retrospectivo, realizado con historias clínicas de adolescentes de 10 a 19 años, ingresados por intento de suicidio entre enero de 2015 y julio de 2020 en un servicio de urgencias y emergencias. Los datos fueron sometidos a análisis descriptivo e inferencial. Resultados: fueron identificadas 88 atenciones, principalmente del sexo femenino, expuestas a múltiples factores de riesgo. La intoxicación exógena fue el principal método utilizado, ocurriendo en el domicilio y entre semana. Hubo repercusiones sistémicas, requiriendo múltiples intervenciones y hospitalizaciones. Sólo el 26% de los casos fueron notificados. Conclusiones: los adolescentes asistidos por intento de suicidio estuvieron expuestos a múltiples factores de riesgo, siendo la intoxicación el principal medio utilizado. Preocupa el subregistro de casos y la lógica de atención clínica y medicalización

RESUMO Objetivos: identificar e caracterizar os atendimentos aos adolescentes admitidos em um departamento de urgência e emergência por tentativa de suicídio. Métodos: estudo observacional, transversal, descritivo, com abordagem retrospectiva, realizado com prontuários de adolescentes de 10 a 19 anos, admitidos por tentativa de suicídio entre janeiro de 2015 e julho de 2020 em um departamento de urgência e emergência. Os dados foram submetidos à análise descritiva e inferencial. Resultados: foram identificados 88 atendimentos, principalmente ao sexo feminino, expostos a múltiplos fatores de risco. A intoxicação exógena foi o principal meio utilizado, ocorrida no domicílio e em dias úteis. Houve repercussões sistêmicas, com necessidade de múltiplas intervenções e hospitalizações. Apenas 26% dos atendimentos foram notificados. Conclusões: os adolescentes atendidos por tentativa de suicídio estavam expostos a múltiplos fatores de risco, com a intoxicação como o principal meio utilizado. Preocupa a subnotificação dos casos e a lógica do cuidado clínico e medicalização.

ABSTRACT The objective of the work was to evaluate the response of growth and production, the interception efficiency of photosynthetically active radiation, the extinction coefficient, and the productivity components of sunflower in with the use of cover nitrogen doses in subtropical environments. The experiment was conducted at Santa Maria-RS, Brazil, where they were evaluated the leaf area index (LAI), interception efficiency (εi), and extinction coefficient (k) of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), plant height (PH), chapter diameter (CPD), stem diameter (SD), the mass of one thousand achenes (MTA), and grain productivity (PROD) were evaluated. Nitrogen doses influenced the LAI only at 52 and 65 DAE, while the canopy interception efficiency (CIE) was influenced at 36, 42, 52, and 86 DAE. Therefore , for growth and production doses of cover N positively influence stem diameter and grain productivity. The application of cover nitrogen fertilizer linearly and positively affects the sunflower crop, and 160 kg ha-1 N. Interception efficiency of photosynthetically active radiation by the canopy and the leaf area index are positively influenced by the doses of nitrogen in the canopy. The extinction coefficient of the photosynthetically active radiation in sunflower decreases with the increasing dose of cover N.

Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the agreement and reproducibility of a portable electrical impedance myography device (EIM - SKULPT®) for body fat percentage (BF%) estimation in young adults. Sixty young adults volunteered for the study (women, n=30, 25.0±7.7 years; 21.5±1.9 kg/m2; and men, n=30, 21.6±6.3 years; 22.5±1.8 kg/m2). Participants underwent air displacement plethysmography (ADP) and EIM measurements for agreement analysis. EIM was performed three times on the same day for the within-day reproducibility analysis. Seven days later, 37 participants repeated the EIM measurements for the between-days reproducibility analysis. Comparisons of EIM and ADP methods, and EIM repeated measurements were performed with the paired T-test or one-way ANOVA repeated measures, the Bland-Altman plot, and simple linear regressions. BF% was higher (p<0.05) when estimated by EIM (19.91 ± 5.70 for men, and 30.77 ± 5.89 for women) compared to ADP (15.28 ± 5.66 for men, and 27.31 ± 5.98 for women). The Bland-Altman analysis presented a bias of 4.4% (95%CI=-3.4–12.2) and linear regression presented an R2=0.78. For between-days reproducibility, EIM means did not differ (25.33±7.69 and 24.94±8.30, p=0.890). Thus, while the EIM device exhibited high reproducibility of BF% estimates, caution should be exercised when comparing the results with other techniques for measuring BF%. The EIM device overestimated BF% compared to ADP. However, the EIM measurements presented very good within-day and between-days reproducibility and, thus, the EIM device can be used for longitudinal monitoring of BF%.

Resumo O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a concordância e a reprodutibilidade de um aparelho portátil de miografia por impedância elétrica (EIM - SKULPT®) para estimativa do percentual de gordura corporal (GC%) em adultos jovens. Sessenta adultos jovens foram voluntários para o estudo (mulheres, n=30, 25,0±7,7 anos; 21,5±1,9 kg/m2; e homens, n=30, 21,6±6,3 anos; 22,5±1,8 kg/m2). Os participantes fizeram medições de pletismografia de deslocamento de ar (ADP) e EIM para análise de concordância. A EIM foi realizada três vezes no mesmo dia para a análise de reprodutibilidade dentro do dia. Sete dias depois, 37 participantes repetiram as medições do EIM para a análise de reprodutibilidade entre dias. As comparações dos métodos EIM e ADP e medições repetidas do EIM foram realizadas com o teste T pareado ou medidas repetidas ANOVA de uma via, o gráfico de Bland-Altman e regressões lineares simples. O %GC foi maior (p<0,05) quando estimado pelo EIM (19,91 ± 5,70 para homens e 30,77 ± 5,89 para mulheres) em relação ao ADP (15,28 ± 5,66 para homens e 27,31 ± 5,98 para mulheres). A análise de Bland-Altman apresentou viés de 4,4% (IC95%=-3,4–12,2) e a regressão linear apresentou R2=0,78. Para a reprodutibilidade entre dias, as médias do EIM não diferiram (25,33±7,69 e 24,94±8,30, p=0,890). Assim, enquanto o dispositivo EIM exibiu alta reprodutibilidade das estimativas de %GC, deve-se ter cautela ao comparar os resultados com outras técnicas para medir %GC. O dispositivo EIM superestimou %GC em comparação com ADP. No entanto, as medidas de EIM apresentaram reprodutibilidade intradia e entre dias muito boa e, portanto, o dispositivo de EIM pode ser usado para monitoramento longitudinal de %GC.

RESUMO Objetivo Esta revisão de escopo teve como objetivo mapear evidências sobre a suplementação com açaí combinada com exercícios físicos em estudos experimentais em animais e / ou humanos. Métodos A busca considerou seis bases de dados eletrônicas além da triagem de referências relevantes. O processo de seleção e extração de dados foi realizado por dois autores independentes. As características do estudo, estratégias de suplementação de açaí (forma, tempo de intervenção, e quantidade ingerida) e exercícios (tipos, intensidade e duração), seus resultados foram resumidos. Resultados Um total de 342 estudos foram inicialmente alcançados e somente 11 foram elegíveis (5 com animais e 6 com humanos). Em animais, a suplementação de açaí e os exercícios indicaram benefícios na tolerância ao exercício e melhorias em vários parâmetros hemodinâmicos, bem como melhorias significativas nos marcadores hepáticos e no metabolismo da glicose. Em humanos, a suplementação de açaí indicou resultados positivos no aumento do tempo de exaustão para 90% do VO2máx e no aumento da intensidade correspondente ao limiar anaeróbio. Conclusão Concluiu-se que pesquisas futuras envolvendo animais e humanos devem examinar a suplementação de açaí e exercícios com (a) modelos de obesidade para testar o efeito da adiponectina na composição corporal por meio de parâmetros histológicos e histoquímicos (b) protocolos de dano muscular excêntrico com incorporação de variáveis de qualidade muscular para avaliação da recuperação; (c) suplementação crônica de açaí e treinamento de força; (d) comparação das diferentes formas de suplementação de açaí em protocolos de exercícios.

ABSTRACT Objective This scoping review aimed to map evidence on açai supplementation combined with exercise in animal and/or human experimental studies. Methods The search considered six electronic databases and screening of relevant references. The selection process and data extraction were performed by two independent authors. The study characteristics, and AS (e.g., form, intervention time, amount ingested) and exercise (e.g., types, intensity, and duration) strategies were summarized, as well as their reported results. Results From an initial total of 342 studies identified; 11 (5 with animal and 6 with human models) were eligible. In animals, açai supplementation and exercise led to benefits in exercise tolerance and improvements in several hemodynamic parameters, as well as significant improvements in liver markers and glucose metabolism. In humans, açai supplementation indicated positive results in increasing exhaustion time to 90% of VO2max and increasing intensity at the anaerobic threshold. Conclusion We conclude that future research involving animals and humans should examine açai supplementation and exercise with (a) obesity models to test the effect of adiponectin on body composition with analysis of histological and histochemical parameters; (b) eccentric injury protocols with the incorporation of muscle quality variables to assess recovery; (c) chronic açai supplementation and strength training; (d) comparison of different forms of açai supplementation in exercise protocols.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was twofold: (a) to verify the effects of different periods of Menstrual Cycle (MC) (menstrual and non-menstrual) of women who use (users) or did not use (non-users) oral contraceptive (OC); (b) to compare the influence of the use of different doses of OCs at these MC moments. Two groups, women who did not use OC (NCG = 13) and women who use OC (CG = 13). The participants were assessed on the 1st or 2nd day of their menstrual period and the 14th or 15th day post-menstrual period. The Peak Torque (PT) and work (W) variables were evaluated at all MC moments. To compare the estrogen dosage, CG was subdivided into two subgroups, (ULCG = 6) that used ultra-low doses of estrogen and a group (LCG = 7) that used low. No interaction (group x period) was observed for PTisometric (F=0.170, p=0.687), PTconcentric (F=0.495, p=0.495) and PTeccentric (F=0.348, p=0.566), Wconcentric (F=0.001, p=0.971) and Weccentric (F=0.075, p=0.790). In addition, no significant interactions (dose x period) were observed in the torque parameters between women who used OC at different estrogen dosages (PTisometric: F=0.803, p=0.411; PTconcentric: F=0.548, p=0.492; PTeccentric: F=0.239, p=0.645; Wconcentric: F=0.030, p=0.869, Weccentric: F=0.027, p=0.876). In conclusion, using or not using OC seems to have no effect on torque parameters at the different moments of MC. Furthermore, the different doses of the OCs did not seem to promote effects on torque and work during MC.

ABSTRACT Background: Intrathecal injection of voltage-sensitive calcium channel blocker peptide toxins exerts analgesic effect in several animal models of pain. Upon intrathecal administration, recombinant Phα1β exerts the same analgesic effects as the those of the native toxin. However, from a clinical perspective, the intrathecal administration limits the use of anesthetic drugs in patients. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the possible antinociceptive effect of intravenous recombinant Phα1β in rat models of neuropathic pain, as well as its side effects on motor, cardiac (heart rate and blood pressure), and biochemical parameters. Methods: Male Wistar rats and male Balb-C mice were used in this study. Giotto Biotech® synthesized the recombinant version of Phα1β using Escherichia coli expression. In rats, neuropathic pain was induced by chronic constriction of the sciatic nerve and paclitaxel-induced acute and chronic pain. Mechanical sensitivity was evaluated using von Frey filaments. A radiotelemeter transmitter (TA11PA-C10; Data Sciences, St. Paul, MN, USA) was placed on the left carotid of mice for investigation of cardiovascular side effects. Locomotor activity data were evaluated using the open-field paradigm, and serum CKMB, TGO, TGP, LDH, lactate, creatinine, and urea levels were examined. Results: Intravenous administration of recombinant Phα1β toxin induced analgesia for up to 4 h, with ED50 of 0.02 (0.01-0.03) mg/kg, and reached the maximal effect (Emax = 100% antinociception) at a dose of 0.2 mg/kg. No significant changes were observed in any of the evaluated motor, cardiac or biochemical parameters. Conclusion: Our data suggest that intravenous administration of recombinant Phα1β may be feasible for drug-induced analgesia, without causing any severe side effects.

RESUMO Lesões articulares no ombro são bastante comuns em atletas de voleibol. Estudos sugerem que o desequilíbrio muscular entre os músculos rotadores internos e externos do ombro podem estar relacionados a tais lesões. O objetivo deste estudo foi comparar os picos de torque (PT) concêntricos de rotadores externos e internos do ombro em jogadores de voleibol com (HL) e sem histórico (SH). Participaram 21 jogadores de voleibol do sexo masculino (idade: 17,2±1,96 anos; estatura: 183,6±6,63 cm; peso: 75,1±11,50 kg; gordura: 13,4±2,77%) divididos em 2 grupos: HL (n=8); SH (n=13). Foram realizadas duas séries de 5 repetições concêntricas de rotação interna (RI) e externa (RE) do ombro nas velocidades de 60 e 180°·s para posterior cálculo das razões convencionais. O PT concêntrico para RE em ambas velocidades avaliadas (60 e 180°·s) foram significativamente superiores para o grupo HL. O PT concêntrico na RI foi maior comparado a RE em ambos os grupos. Apenas a razão convencional à 60º/s, foi significativamente maior para jogadores HL. Conclui-se que os atletas com histórico de lesão de ombro apresentam desequilíbrio muscular, podendo este fator ser considerado um aspecto que tenha levado ao aparecimento do evento lesivo.

ABSTRACT Joint shoulder injuries are quite common in volleyball athletes. Studies suggest that muscle imbalance between the internal and external rotator muscles of the shoulder may be related to such lesions. The objective of this study was to compare the concentric torque peaks (PT) of external and internal rotators of the shoulder in volleyball players with (HL) and without history of injuries in joint shoulder (SH). Participated of present study 21 male volleyball players (age: 17.2 ± 1.96 years, height: 183.6 ± 6.63 cm, weight: 75.1 ± 11.50 kg, fat: 13.4 ± 2, 77%) divided into 2 groups: HL (n = 8); SH (n = 13). Two series of 5 maximal concentric repetitions of internal (RI) and external rotation (RE) of the shoulder were performed at speeds of 60 and 180 °·s for later calculation of the conventional ratio PT concentric for RE at both velocities evaluated (60 and 180 °·s) were significantly higher for the HL group. PT concentric in RI was higher compared to RE in both groups. Only the conventional rate at 60°·s was significantly higher for HL players. It is concluded that athletes with a history of shoulder injury present muscular imbalance, and this factor can be considered an aspect that has led to the appearance of the injury event.

RESUMO O presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar o desempenho anaeróbio e a ativação muscular durante um teste de ciclismo supramáximo em três diferentes alturas do selim. Doze ciclistas competitivos completaram um teste incremental em cicloergômetro e três testes de Wingate de 30 s em diferentes alturas do selim (referência, baixa e alta), de forma randomizada, em diferentes dias. A altura do selim foi alterada para baixo e para cima a partir da posição de referência usando como parâmetro o valor referente a (± 2,5%) da distância da sínfise púbica até o solo. O sinal eletromiográfico (EMG) foi obtido dos músculos reto femoral, vasto lateral, bíceps femoral (cabeça longa) e gastrocnêmio lateral. As variáveis anaeróbias e os dados de EMG foram divididos em seis janelas consecutivas de 5 s. Os sinals EMG foram normalizados pela primeira janela da posição de referência para estipular as mudanças percentuais ao longo do teste. Os resultados sugerem que durante o teste de Wingate de 30 s pequenas alterações na altura do selim resultam em aumento da potência pico (referência=1380±241 W; baixa=1497±175 W, p=0,036; alta=1491±225 W, p=0,049) e maior período de ativação percentual para o vasto lateral (referência=33,6%, baixa=33,2%, alta=35,0%; p=0,001) em relação ao reto femoral (referência=24,5%, baixa=25,2%, alta=23.7%), bíceps femoral (referência=20,7%, baixa=20,8%, alta=19,9%) e gastrocnêmio lateral (referência=21,2%, baixa=20,8%, alta=19,9%). Os resultados sugerem que pequenos ajustes na altura do selim podem afetar a relação força-comprimento e, consequentemente, a capacidade de gerar força e o padrão de recrutamento muscular dos membros inferiores.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to analyze the anaerobic performance and muscle activation during a supramaximal cycling test at three different saddle positions. Twelve competitive cyclists completed an incremental cycling test and three 30-s Wingate tests in three different saddle heights (reference, downward, and upward), in a random order, on different days. The saddle height was individually shifted downward and upward (seeing 2.5% of the distance from the pubic symphysis to ground) from the reference position. The electromyographic signal (EMG) data was obtained from the rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, biceps femoris (long head), and gastrocnemius lateralis in order to assess muscle activation during the entire test. The anaerobic variables and the EMG data were divided into six consecutive windows of 5-s. The EMG signals were normalized by the first 5-s window of the reference position to provide the percentage changes throughout the test. The results suggest that during a 30-s Wingate test small changes in saddle height result in greater peak power output (reference=1380±241 W; downward=1497±175 W, p=0.036; upward=1491±225 W, p=0.049) and greater activation period for vastus lateralis (reference=33.6%, downward=33.2%, upward=35.0%; p=0.001) in comparision to rectus femoris (reference=24.5%, downward=25.2%, upward=23.7%), biceps femoris (reference=20.7%, downward=20.8%, upward=19.9%), and gastrocnemius lateralis (reference=21.2%, downward=20.8%, upward=19.9%). The results suggest that small adjustments in saddle height may affect the force-length relationship of the muscles of the lower limb, and consequently their recruitment pattern and their ability to generate force.

O objetivo do presente estudo foi comparar a influência do Teste de Sentar e Alcançar (TSA) modificado com e sem aquecimento sobre o score final obtido por diferentes faixas etárias de homens e mulheres fisicamente ativos. A amostra foi composta por 412 sujeitos, sendo 321 do gênero feminino (45 ± 14,09 anos; 66 ± 12,23Kg; 1,55 ± 0,05m) e 91 do gênero masculino (42 ± 15,75 anos; 74,6 ± 12,41Kg; 1,65 ± 0,07m). Todos os indivíduos realizaram o TSA modificado e convencional, com e sem aquecimento. O TSA modificado apresentou resultados significativos quando comparado à forma convencional, em ambos os gêneros avaliados (p = 0,0001). Em relação à condição para realizar o teste (com e sem aquecimento), o protocolo com aquecimento foi superior ao protocolo sem aquecimento, em ambos os gêneros, para o TSA modificado e convencional (p = 0,0001). Como conclusão, para avaliar a flexibilidade de membros inferiores, seria interessante utilizar um TSA adaptado, a fim de minimizar uma possível influência no score obtido no final do teste.

The aim of this study was to compare the influence of the modified Sit-and-Reach test (MSR) with or without warm-up on the final score obtained by groups of men and women of different ages, physically actives. The sample consisted of 412 subjects, 321 females (45 ± 14.09 years, 66 ± 12.23 kg, 1.55 ± 0.05 m) and 91 males (42 ± 15.75 years; 74, 6 ± 12.41 kg, 1.65 ± 0.07 m). All subjects underwent the MSR and the conventional Sit-and-Reach test (CSR), with or without warm up. The MSR showed significant results when compared to the CSR protocol, in both genders (p = 0.0001). Regarding the condition for testing (with or without warm up), the protocol with warm up showed better results than the protocol without warm up, for both genders, for the MSR and CSR (p = 0.0001). In conclusion, to evaluate the lower body flexibility, it would be interesting to use a MSR to minimize a possible influence in the score obtained at the test.

A redução das janelas de semeadura e a intensificação da produção no sistema de semeadura direta impulsionaram o aumento na frequência de utilização de máquinas, provocando compactação pelo tráfego. A compactação, além de prejudicar o desenvolvimento das raízes das plantas, aumenta a demanda de potência dos implementos justificando a utilização de escarificadores para a descompactação do solo. Avaliou-se o desempenho de dois escarificadores (Haste + ponteira), sendo um comercial e um experimental, com vistas a entender a operação de escarificação quando adaptada ao sistema de semeadura direta, utilizando como parâmetros variáveis energéticas e de solo. O elemento descompactador experimental teve um desempenho superior ao comercial nas principais variáveis estudadas, tais como consumo de combustível, potência e força de tração. Quando à frente dos elementos descompactadores o disco de corte não alterou a força de tração mas reduziu o consumo de combustível e a potência. O aumento da velocidade proporcionou incremento da força de tração, potência e consumo de combustível.

Reduction in sowing period and intensification of production in no-tillage system, promoted an increase in the frequency of the use of machines and implements, causing compaction of soil due to traffic. The compaction, in addition to affecting the development of plant roots, increases the power demand of the implements, justifying the use of chisel plows for soil decompactation. The performance of two chisel plows (Shank + tip), one commercial and one experimental, was evaluated to understand the chiseling (scarification) operation adapted to no-tillage system and compare two chisel plows, using as parameters such as energy and soil variables. The experimental decompactation element performed better in comparison to commercial, in key variables, such as fuel consumption, power and traction force. When installed ahead of descompactation elements the cutting disc did not alter the traction force and reduced the fuel consumption and power. The increase in the speed provided an increase in traction force, power and fuel consumption.

O objectivo deste estudo foi verificar o efeito de um treinamento de força e endurance sobre componentes corporais de mulheres. Oito mulheres na fase de perimenopausa (massa corporal de 58,9 ± 9,3 kg, altura de 159 ± 7 cm e idade de 48,6 ± 2,1 anos) participaram do estudo. A massa óssea (MO), massa gorda (MG) e a massa magra (MM) foram analisadas com um exame DEXA (Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry). O consumo máximo de oxigénio (VO2máx) foi determinado através de teste progressivo máximo em esteira rolante antes e após o treinamento. O treinamento combinando exercícios de força e endurance teve a duração de 20 semanas. Os resultados indicam que o VO2máx, embora não alterado de maneira estatisticamente significativa, apresentou um aumento de 7,23% para a forma absoluta e 9,82% na forma relativa. Da mesma forma, a MO e MM tiveram um aumento de 0,81% e 2,82%, respectivamente, enquanto que a MG apresentou decréscimo de 3,60%. Ainda que essas alterações não tenham alcançado significância estatística, a tendência de modificação observada sugere que o treinamento poderá induzir alterações nos componentes corporais de mulheres na fase de perimenopausa. Para a confirmação dos resultados encontrados sugerem-se estudos com períodos de treinamento mais extensos.

The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of strength and endurance training on body components in women. Eight women at perimenopause stage (age of 48.6 ± 2.1 years; body mass of 58.9 ± 9.3 kg; height of 159 ± 7 cm) volunteered for this study. The bone mass (BM), fat mass (FM) and lean mass (LM) were analyzed by a DEXA (Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry), and the VO2max was determined by progressive maximal tests in a treadmill before and after the training period. The strength and endurance training had duration of 20 weeks. We didn’t find statistical differences for the VO2max, however presented an increase of 7.23% for absolute and 9.82 for relative values. The BM had an increase of 0.81%, while the LM had an increase of 2.82%. The FM was decreased in 3.60%. Although the alterations did not reach a statistical significance, the tendency observed suggest that training can induce changes on the body components of women at perimenopause stage. However, to confirm this found is necessary the application of a larger training period.

Reportamos o caso de uma paciente com lesões obstrutivas nas artérias carótidas direita e esquerda, renal direita, subclávia esquerda, e ilíaca comum esquerda, tratadas percutaneamente.

We report the case of a female patient with obstructive lesions in the right and left carotid, right renal, left subclavian and left common iliac arteries which were percutaneously treated.

O objetivo deste estudo foi comparar a cinemática de pedalada em ciclistas de duas modalidades diferentes (estrada e mountain-bike). A aquisição dos dados foi feita usando o sistema Peak Motus, sendo analisado o comportamento angular da coxa, joelho e tornozelo enquanto os ciclistas pedalaram em intensidade relativa ao segundo limiar ventilatório. Os resultados foram analisados estatisticamente com teste t de Student a cada 30º do pé-de-vela, não mostrando diferenças entre as modalidades. Entretanto, a cinemática do tornozelo apresentou grande variabilidade. A característica encontrada para o tornozelo possivelmente seja um fator decisivo para diferenças na técnica de pedalada entre os ciclistas destas duas modalidades, em relação à aplicação das forças no pedal.

The purpose of this study was to compare the pedaling kinematics of cyclists of two different disciplines (road and mountain-bike). Data collection and analysis were accomplished using the Peak Motus System, and the angular kinematics behavior for the thigh, knee and ankle were analyzed while the cyclists pedaled in relative intensity to the second ventilatory threshold. The results were statistically compared by Student’s t-test to every 30° of crank, showing no statistically differences among the cycling disciplines. However, the ankle kinematics presented high variability. This characteristic found for the ankle may be a decisive factor related to the differences in the pedaling technique among cyclists of these two disciplines.
