RESUMO O manejo de doenças pós-colheita de mamão sem o uso de agrotóxicos é um desafio para os produtores. Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito do óleo essencial de cravo-da-índia, do fungicida biológico Trichodermil®, do indutor de resistência Cob Sistem® e do fungicida químico Imazacure®, no controle in vitro de fungos fitopatogênicos isolados de mamão e na qualidade pós-colheita de mamão Tainung 1. O experimento in vitro foi conduzido em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com 5 fungos x 5 tratamentos e cinco repetições. No experimento in vivo, utilizou-se delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com 5 tratamentos x 5 tempos de armazenamento, cinco repetições e três frutos por repetição. Os frutos foram armazenados sob refrigeração a 10 ± 2 ºC e 90 ± 5 % de umidade relativa e avaliados nos tempos 0, 7, 14, 21 e 28 dias, mais dois dias de tempo de prateleira a 25 ± 2 ºC, para simular condições de comercialização. Avaliou-se a inibição do crescimento micelial para o experimento in vitro e, para o in vivo, a ocorrência de doenças e a qualidade pós-colheita dos frutos. O óleo essencial de cravo-da-índia e Trichodermil® foram tão eficientes quanto o Imazacure® na inibição do crescimento micelial de Alternaria sp., Colletotrichum gloeosporioides e Rhizopus sp. Até 21 dias de armazenamento, os tratamentos com cravo-da-índia, Trichodermil® e Imazacure® foram iguais, quanto ao controle de patógenos. Os tratamentos não propiciaram diferença quanto aos sólidos solúveis dos frutos.

ABSTRACT Controlling post-harvest papaya diseases without using agrochemicals is a challenge for producers. This study aimed at evaluating the effect of clove essential oil, biological fungicide (Trichodermil®), resistance inducer (Cob Sistem®) and chemical fungicide (Imazacure®) on the in vitro control of phytopathogenic fungi isolates from papaya as well as on the post-harvest quality of Tainung 1 papaya. The in vitro experiment was conducted in a complete randomized design, with five fungal species x five treatments and five replications. The in vivo experiment was conducted in a complete randomized design, with five treatments x five storage times, five replications and three fruits per replication. The fruits were stored under refrigeration at 10 ± 2 ºC and 90 ± 5 % of relative humidity and evaluated at 0, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days of storage, plus two shelf life days at 25 ± 2 ºC, to simulate marketing conditions. The inhibition of mycelial growth was evaluated in the in vitro experiment, while the diseases occurrence and post-harvest quality of the fruits were evaluated in the in vivo experiment. The clove essential oil and Trichodermil® were as efficient as Imazacure® in inhibiting the mycelial growth of Alternaria sp., Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and Rhizopus sp. The treatments with clove essential oil, Trichodermil® and Imazacure® were similar in controlling the pathogens up to 21 days of storage. The treatments had no effect on the fruits soluble solid contents.

RESUMO A torção anexial é um evento incomum, porém constitui importante causa de dor abdominal em mulheres. Está frequentemente associada a tumor ou cisto ovariano, mas pode ocorrer em ovários normais, principalmente em crianças. A torção de estruturas anexiais pode envolver o ovário ou a tuba, mas geralmente acomete ambos. Na maioria dos casos, é unilateral, com discreta predileção pelo lado direito. Como achados de imagem, observam-se massas ovarianas e aumento do volume ovariano, com redução ou ausência de sua vascularização. Se a torção for completa e não diagnosticada ou tratada, pode ocorrer necrose hemorrágica, evoluindo com complicações, sendo a peritonite a mais frequente. O diagnóstico precoce ajuda a prevenir danos que são irreversíveis com tratamento conservador, poupando-se o ovário. A limitação do exame físico, a possibilidade de resultados inconclusivos pela ultrassonografia e a exposição à radiação pela tomografia computadorizada fazem da ressonância magnética um complemento valioso na avaliação de emergência das doenças ginecológicas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi relatar dois casos confirmados de torção anexial, enfatizando a contribuição da ressonância magnética no diagnóstico dessa entidade.

ABSTRACT Adnexial torsion is an unusual event, but a major cause of abdominal pain in women. It is often associated with ovarian tumor or cyst, but can occur in normal ovaries, especially in children. The twisting of adnexial structures may involve the ovary or tube, but frequently affects both. In most cases, it is unilateral, with slight predilection for the right side. In imaging findings, increased ovarian volume and adnexial masses are observed, with reduced or absent vascularization. In cases of undiagnosed or untreated complete twist, hemorrhagic necrosis may occur leading to complications; in that, peritonitis is the most frequent. Early diagnosis helps preventing irreversible damage with conservative treatment, thereby saving the ovary. Limitations in performing physical examination, possible inconclusive results in ultrasound and exposure to radiation in computed tomography makes magnetic resonance imaging a valuable tool in emergency assessment of gynecological diseases. The objective of this study was to report two confirmed cases of adnexial twist, emphasizing the contribution of magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of this condition.

OBJETIVOS: Traçar o perfil e identificar a prevalência de depressão nos pacientes sob cuidados paliativos no Serviço de Oncologia da Faculdade de Medicina do ABC. MÉTODOS: Entrevistamos 62 pacientes oncológicos em cuidados paliativos que responderam a três questionários: questionário geral contendo variáveis demográficas, questionário estruturado para pacientes oncológicos em cuidados terminais para avaliação de sua qualidade de vida e inventário de depressão de Beck. RESULTADOS: Observamos que 68% dos pacientes tinham algum grau de depressão. A maioria dos pacientes sabia seu diagnóstico (87,1%), estava satisfeito com o tratamento (93,33%), sentia-se satisfeito com o apoio recebido (95,7%) e referiu não conversar com seus médicos sobre outros assuntos além de sua saúde (81,18%). Os sintomas mais freqüentes foram dor, cansaço, fraqueza e alterações do sono. Encontramos que o fato de não saber o diagnóstico (p=0,008), estar internado (p=0,0019) e não ter recebido tratamento oncológico (p=0,007) se correlacionam significativamente com níveis mais altos de depressão. CONCLUSÃO: Pacientes sob cuidados paliativos em nosso meio, apesar de geralmente satisfeitos com seu cuidado, relatam pobre comunicação com seu médico e apresentam uma alta taxa de depressão. Saber o seu diagnóstico e ter recebido tratamento oncológico se correlacionam inversamente com a presença de depressão.

OBJECTIVE: Characterize the profile of patients under palliative care at this institution and evaluate the prevalence of depression in these patients. METHODS: Sixty two cancer patients under palliative care, who had answered three questionnaires: one regarding their demographic characteristics, another to evaluate their quality of life and the Beck's depression inventory were surveyed. RESULTS: Of these patients, 68% presented with some degree of depression. Most of them were aware of their diagnosis (87.1%), did not talk to their physicians on other subjects but their disease (81.18%), were satisfied with their treatment (93.33%) and with the support they received (95.70%). Pain, fatigue, weakness and sleep disturbances were the most frequently reported symptoms. There was a significant correlation between presence of depression and not knowing the diagnosis (p=0.008), being admitted to the hospital (p=0.0019) and not having ever received oncologic treatment. CONCLUSION: Patients under palliative care at this institution, despite being satisfied with the treatment, reported poor communication with their physicians and presented with a high rate of depression. Awareness of their diagnosis and having received prior oncologic treatment (p=0.07) correlated significantly and inversely with having depression.
