Abstract Background The six-minute walk test (6MWT) is commonly used to evaluate heart failure (HF) patients. However, several clinical factors can influence the distance walked in the test. Signal-morphology impedance cardiography (SM-ICG) is a useful tool to noninvasively assess hemodynamics. Objective This study aimed to compare cardiac output (CO), heart rate (HR), and stroke volume (SV) acceleration and deceleration responses to 6MWT in individuals with HF and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and healthy controls. Methods This is a cross-sectional observational study. CO, HR, SV and cardiac index (CI) were evaluated before, during, and after the 6MWT assessed by SM-ICG. The level of significance adopted in the statistical analysis was 5%. Results Twenty-seven participants were included (13 HFrEF and 14 healthy controls). CO and HR acceleration significantly differed between groups (p<0.01; p=0.039, respectively). We found significant differences in SV, CO and CI between groups (p<0.01). Linear regression showed an impaired SV contribution to CO change in HFrEF group (22.9% versus 57.4%). Conclusion The main finding of the study was that individuals with HFrEF showed lower CO and HR acceleration values during the submaximal exercise test compared to healthy controls. This may indicate an imbalance in the autonomic response to exercise in this condition.

Resumo Fundamento O Teste de Caminhada de seis Minutos (TC6M) é comumente usado para avaliar pacientes com insuficiência cardíaca. No entanto, vários fatores clínicos podem influenciar a distância percorrida pelos pacientes no teste. A cardiografia de impedância (CI) na avaliação morfológica é uma ferramenta útil para avaliar a hemodinâmica cardíaca de maneira não invasiva. Objetivo Este estudo teve como objetivo comparar as respostas de aceleração e desaceleração do Débito Cardíaco (DC), da Frequência Cardíaca (FC), e do Volume Sistólico (VS) ao TC6M de indivíduos com insuficiência cardíaca e fração de ejeção reduzida (ICFEr) com as de controles sadios. Métodos Este é um estudo transversal observacional. O DC, a FC, o VS e o Índice Cardíaco (IC) foram avaliados antes, durante e após o TC6M por CI. O nível de significância adotado na análise estatística foi 5%. Resultados Foram incluídos 27 participantes (13 com ICFEr e 14 controles sadios). A aceleração do DC e da FC foi significativamente diferente entre os grupos (p<0,01 e p=0,039, respectivamente). Encontramos diferenças significativas no VS, no DC e no IC entre os grupos (p<0,01). A regressão linear mostrou uma contribuição deficiente do VS à mudança no DC no grupo com ICFEr (22,9% versus 57,4%). Conclusão O principal resultado deste estudo foi o fato de que indivíduos com ICFEr apresentaram valores mais baixos de aceleração do DC e da FC durante o teste de exercício submáximo em comparação a controles sadios. Isso pode indicar um desequilíbrio na resposta autonômica ao exercício nessa condição.

ABSTRACT The use of resistant cultivars is the main strategy to control Fusarium wilt on tomato, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici . This study aimed to quantify the incidence and distribution of this disease in the region of Nova Friburgo, RJ, as well as the type of resistance of tomato cultivars to the three FOL races. Samples of healthy and wilted plants from 40 properties were evaluated for the presence of vascular discouloration. Seventeen tomato cultivars were evaluated for resistance to the three FOL races using a grading scale. Classification for resistance/susceptibility, incidence and percentage of infection of the vascular system, fresh weight accumulation and seedling length were determined. All the cultivars analysed behaved as similar to immune (SI) to race 1 of FOL and similar to immune or partial resistance to race 2. Only Aguamiel cultivar presented a SI reaction to FOL race 3. None of the cultivars presented a SI reaction to the three races. It can be concluded that failures on the control of the disease in this region can be attributed to the majority use of cultivars with incomplete resistance to the three FOL races. The seed packages also contain incomplete information about FOL resistance.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the impact of the race (Black versus non-Black) on maternal and perinatal outcomes of pregnant women with COVID-19 in Brazil. Methods This is a subanalysis of REBRACO, a Brazilian multicenter cohort study designed to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on pregnant women. From February2020 until February 2021, 15 maternity hospitals in Brazil collected data on women with respiratory symptoms. We selected all women with a positive test for COVID-19; then, we divided them into two groups: Black and non-Black women. Finally, we compared, between groups, sociodemographic, maternal, and perinatal outcomes. We obtained the frequency of events in each group and compared them using X2 test; p-values < 0.05 were considered significant. We also estimated the odds ratio (OR) and confidence intervals (CI). Results 729 symptomatic women were included in the study; of those, 285 were positive for COVID-19, 120 (42.1%) were Black, and 165 (57.9%) were non-Black. Black women had worse education (p = 0.037). The timing of access to the health system was similar between both groups, with 26.3% being included with seven or more days of symptoms. Severe acute respiratory syndrome (OR 2.22 CI 1.17–4.21), intensive care unit admission (OR 2.00 CI 1.07–3.74), and desaturation at admission (OR 3.72 CI 1.41–9.84) were more likely to occur among Black women. Maternal death was higher among Black women (7.8% vs. 2.6%, p = 0.048). Perinatal outcomes were similar between both groups. Conclusion Brazilian Black women were more likely to die due to the consequences of COVID-19.

Resumo Objetivo Avaliar o impacto da raça (negra versus não negra) nos desfechos maternos e perinatais de gestantes com COVID-19 no Brasil. Métodos Esta é uma subanálise da REBRACO, um estudo de coorte multicêntrico brasileiro desenhado para avaliar o impacto da COVID-19 em mulheres grávidas. De fevereiro de 2020 a fevereiro de 2021, 15 maternidades do Brasil coletaram dados de mulheres com sintomas respiratórios. Selecionamos todas as mulheres com teste positivo para COVID-19; em seguida, as dividimos em dois grupos: mulheres negras e não negras. Finalmente, comparamos, entre os grupos, os resultados sociodemográficos, maternos e perinatais. Obtivemos a frequência dos eventos em cada grupo e comparamos usando o teste X2; Valores de p <0,05 foram considerados significativos. Também estimamos o odds ratio (OR) e os intervalos de confiança (IC). Resultados 729 mulheres sintomáticas foram incluídas no estudo; desses, 285 foram positivos para COVID-19, 120 (42,1%) eram negros e 165 (57,9%) não eram negros. As mulheres negras apresentaram pior escolaridade (p = 0,037). O tempo de acesso ao sistema de saúde foi semelhante entre os dois grupos, com 26,3% incluídos com sete ou mais dias de sintomas. Síndrome respiratória aguda grave (OR 2,22 CI 1,17–4,21), admissão em unidade de terapia intensiva (OR 2,00 CI 1,07–3,74) e dessaturação na admissão (OR 3,72 CI 1,41–9,84) foram mais prováveis de ocorrer entre mulheres negras. A mortalidade materna foi maior entre as negras (7,8% vs. 2,6%, p = 0,048). Os resultados perinatais foram semelhantes entre os dois grupos. Conclusão Mulheres negras brasileiras tiveram maior probabilidade de morrer devido às consequências da COVID-19.

Abstract Objective: this study aimed to evaluate if there is an association of intake of coffee and its polyphenols with mammographic findings in women treated at a breast care service unit of the Unified Health System (SUS), Brazil. Research methods and procedures: this was a cross-sectional study with 532 women treated at a health service. The participants were divided according to their mammographic reports into two groups: without and with altered findings. Two 24-h dietary recalls were applied and coffee consumption was categorized into three groups (less than 1 cup, 1 to 3 cups, and more than 3 cups). Phenolic acids were determined using the Phenol Explorer program. The intake of polyphenols was calculated by adding the values obtained from the total amount of coffee consumed during the day. The Multiple Source Method (MSM) was applied to analyze the usual intake. Results: of the 532 women, 178 (33.5 %) had altered mammographic findings. The participants' average daily coffee intake was 193.4 mL. No significant association was found between coffee consumption and mammographic findings. However, it was found that the second tertile of polyphenols was a protective factor for breast changes. Conclusion: coffee polyphenols are protective against breast changes in the group evaluated and, thus, can help prevent breast cancer.

Resumen Objetivo: este estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar si existe una asociación de la ingesta de café y sus polifenoles con los hallazgos mamográficos de mujeres tratadas en una unidad de patología mamaria del Sistema Unificado de Salud (SUS), Brasil. Métodos y procedimientos de investigación: este fue un estudio transversal con 532 mujeres tratadas en un servicio de salud. Las participantes se dividieron de acuerdo con sus informes mamográficos en dos grupos: sin y con hallazgos alterados. Se aplicaron dos registros dietéticos de 24 horas y el consumo de café se clasificó en tres grupos (menos de 1 taza, 1 a 3 tazas y más de 3 tazas). Los ácidos fenólicos se determinaron utilizando el programa Phenol Explorer. La ingesta de polifenoles se calculó sumando los valores obtenidos de la cantidad total de café consumido durante el día. Se aplicó el método de fuentes múltiples (MSM) para analizar la ingesta habitual. Resultados: de las 532 mujeres, 178 (33,5 %) tenían hallazgos mamográficos alterados. La ingesta diaria promedio de café de los participantes fue de 193,4 ml. No se encontró una asociación significativa entre el consumo de café y los hallazgos mamográficos. Sin embargo, se encontró que el segundo tercil de polifenoles era un factor protector para los cambios mamarios. Conclusión: los polifenoles del café son protectores contra los cambios mamarios en el grupo evaluado y, por lo tanto, podrían ayudar a prevenir el cáncer de mama.

RESUMO As migrações impostas têm ocasionado a presença cada vez maior de estudantes deslocados forçados no sistema de ensino brasileiro. O objetivo deste artigo é abordar os desafios enfrentados no acolhimento e no ensino de alunos imigrantes e refugiados, matriculados na Educação Básica, a partir da perspectiva docente, em dois municípios da região da Serra do Rio Grande do Sul. A pesquisa, de caráter quantitativo e qualitativo, discute o ensino de Português como Língua de Acolhimento e a formação de professores em uma perspectiva plurilíngue. A análise dos dados é realizada por meio da Análise de Conteúdo. Os resultados evidenciam a necessidade de formação docente para o ensino de língua portuguesa para imigrantes e refugiados, ainda nos cursos de licenciatura, e a concretização de políticas públicas para o acolhimento desse público. Ao final do artigo, sugerem-se algumas ações, a fim de promover a aprendizagem e a integração desses estudantes à sociedade brasileira, garantindo-lhes o direito à educação e à construção da cidadania.

ABSTRACT Forced migration has occasioned a higher number of displaced students in the Brazilian scholar system. The main purpose of this paper is to approach, through the teacher’s perspective, the challenges faced when welcoming and teaching immigrants and refugees students who are registered in basic education in two towns in Serra Gaúcha, Rio Grande do Sul. This research, based on quantitative and qualitative methodology, discusses the teaching of Portuguese as a Welcoming Language and teacher’s training in a plurilingual outlook. The data analysis is achieved by Content Analysis. The results indicate the necessity of teacher’s training focused on teaching Portuguese to immigrants and refugees while the teachers are still in graduation courses and the accomplishment of public policies to welcome these students. By the end of the paper, some actions are suggested in order to promote the learning and integration of these subjects in Brazilian society, guaranteeing them the right to education and to the establishment of citizenship.

Abstract Background Major advances have been seen in techniques and devices for performing percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs) for chronic total occlusions (CTOs), but there are limited real-world practice data from developing countries. Objectives To report clinical and angiographic characteristics, procedural aspects, and clinical outcomes of CTO PCI performed at dedicated centers in Brazil. Methods Included patients underwent CTO PCI at centers participating in the LATAM CTO Registry, a Latin American multicenter registry dedicated to prospective collection of these data. Inclusion criteria were procedures performed in Brazil, age 18 years or over, and presence of CTO with PCI attempt. CTO was defined as a 100% lesion in an epicardial coronary artery, known or estimated to have lasted at least 3 months. Results Data on 1196 CTO PCIs were included. Procedures were performed primarily for angina control (85%) and/or treatment of moderate/severe ischemia (24%). Technical success rate was 84%, being achieved with antegrade wire approaches in 81% of procedures, antegrade dissection and re-entry in 9%, and retrograde approaches in 10%. In-hospital adverse cardiovascular events occurred in 2.3% of cases, with a mortality rate of 0.75%. Conclusions CTOs can be treated effectively in Brazil by using PCI, with low complication rates. The scientific and technological development observed in this area in the past decade is reflected in the clinical practice of dedicated Brazilian centers.

Resumo Fundamento Tem sido observado um grande avanço nas técnicas e nos dispositivos para a realização de intervenções coronárias percutâneas (ICP) em oclusões totais coronarianas crônicas (OTC), mas existem poucos dados da prática do mundo real em países em desenvolvimento. Objetivos Relatar as características clínicas e angiográficas, os aspectos dos procedimentos e os resultados clínicos da ICP de OTC em centros dedicados a esse procedimento no Brasil. Métodos Os pacientes incluídos foram submetidos à ICP de OTC em centros participantes do LATAM CTO Registry, um registro multicêntrico latino-americano dedicado à coleta prospectiva desses dados. Os critérios de inclusão foram procedimentos realizados no Brasil, idade acima de 18 anos e presença de OTC com tentativa de ICP. A definição de OTC foi lesão de 100% em uma artéria coronária epicárdica, conhecida ou estimada como tendo pelo menos 3 meses de evolução. Resultados Foram incluídos dados de 1.196 ICPs de OTC. Os procedimentos foram realizados principalmente para controle da angina (85%) e/ou tratamento de uma grande área isquêmica (24%). A taxa de sucesso técnico foi de 84% e foi alcançada com técnicas de fios anterógrados em 81%, dissecção/reentrada anterógrada em 9% e retrógrada em 10% dos procedimentos. Os eventos cardiovasculares adversos intra-hospitalares ocorreram em 2,3% dos casos, sendo a mortalidade de 0,75%. Conclusões As OTC podem ser tratadas no Brasil por intervenção coronária percutânea de forma efetiva e com baixas taxas de complicações. O desenvolvimento científico e tecnológico observado nessa área na última década reflete-se na prática clínica de centros brasileiros dedicados a essa técnica.

ABSTRACT: Glanders is a disease caused by the bacterium Burkholderia mallei that primarily affects horses, mules and donkeys. The disease can cause lesions in the skin, lungs and several other organs. However, it often manifests as an asymptomatic disease. In Brazil, serological tests of high sensitivity and specificity are used to assist in the detection of antibodies against B. mallei and to contribute to the control of the disease. However, due to the mandatory euthanasia of seroreactive animals, equids with positive serology for B. mallei and asymptomatic generated great conflicts between breeders, veterinarians and diagnostic laboratories. This study clarifies the limitations of complementary diagnostic tests for detecting B. mallei. It describes the clinical, morphological and laboratory findings in 24 equines from different municipalities in the Mato Grosso State, Brazil, which reacted to the complement fixation test and were positive in the western blotting test for glanders. Data and tissue samples were collected from 24 horses for histological, microbiological and molecular analysis. In 23 horses, no clinical signs, morphological alterations, microbiological isolation, or molecular detection would characterize B. mallei infection. On the other hand, samples from an asymptomatic horse without lesional alterations showed sequence amplification compatible with B. mallei in the PCR. Considering that the infection by B. mallei is subject to the application of animal sanitary defense measures and that, by international requirement and national legislation, the serological results are tools that should support the sanitation procedures for the error of the bacteria in the Mato Grosso State, Brazil.

RESUMO: Mormo é uma enfermidade causada pela bactéria Burkholderia mallei que acomete primariamente cavalos, mulas e burros. A doença pode causar lesões na pele, pulmões e em diversos outros órgãos, entretanto frequentemente manifesta-se como uma enfermidade assintomática. No Brasil são utilizados testes sorológicos de elevada sensibilidade e especificidade para auxiliar na detecção de anticorpos contra B. mallei e contribuir para controle da doença. Porém, devido à obrigatoriedade da eutanásia de animais sororeagentes, os equídeos com sorologia positiva para B. mallei e assintomáticos geraram grandes embates entre criadores, médicos-veterinários e laboratórios de diagnóstico. Este trabalho esclarece as limitações dos testes diagnósticos complementares para detecção de B. mallei e descreve os achados clínicos, morfológicos e de exames laboratoriais em 24 equídeos, procedentes de diferentes municípios do estado de Mato Grosso, Brasil, que reagiram ao teste de fixação de complemento e foram positivos no teste de “western blotting” para mormo. Foram colhidos dados e amostras de tecidos de 24 equídeos para análise histológica, microbiológica e molecular. Em 23 equídeos não existiam sinais clínicos, alterações morfológicas, isolamento microbiológico ou detecção molecular que caracterizassem infecção por B. mallei. Por outro lado, amostras de um cavalo assintomático e sem alterações lesionais apresentaram amplificação de sequência compatível com B. mallei na PCR. Considerando que a infecção por B. mallei é passível da aplicação de medidas de defesa sanitária animal e que por exigência internacional e da legislação nacional, os resultados sorológicos são ferramentas que devem amparar os procedimentos de saneamento para erradicação da bactéria no estado de Mato Grosso, Brasil.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the performance of the Berlin Questionnaire, the STOP-Bang Questionnaire, and the Epworth Sleepiness Scale in screening for the disease in adults of different age groups by comparing them with polysomnography. Methods Cross-sectional study with prospective patient allocation, in which individuals underwent a medical interview, completion of the three screening instruments, and polysomnography. Individuals were categorized into three age groups: 18-39, 40-59, and ≥60 years. The results of the screening instruments were compared to the diagnostic criteria of the International Classification of Sleep Disorders—third edition. Performance was assessed using 2 × 2 contingency tables, estimating sensitivity, specificity, predictive value, likelihood ratio, and accuracy. Receiver Operating Characteristic curves were also constructed and the area under the curve was estimated for each instrument by age group. Results We obtained a sample with 321 individuals suitable for analysis. The mean age was 50 years, with a predominance of females (56%). The prevalence of the disease in the overall sample was 79%, more prevalent in males in any age group and more frequent in the middle age group. The analyzes revealed that STOP-Bang performed better, both for the overall sample and for all age groups, followed by Berlin Questionnaire and Epworth Sleepiness Scale. Conclusion In an outpatient setting with individuals with characteristics similar to those in this study, it seems sensible to choose the STOP-Bang as a screening tool for the disease, regardless of age group. Abstract The discussion of this text, elaborated from a doctoral research project carried out in a municipal public school in Rio Grande do Sul, aims to understand how critical autoethnography constitutes a theoretical-methodological research process that allows the reconstruction of the teaching practice. For this, we present the theoretical-methodological contribution of critical autoethnography by relating autoethnographic research with the conceptual foundation of critical theory. , We then use narratives of teaching experiences to identify how recursive and reflective processes, both supported by critical reflection, have direct implications for the researcher's teaching training and practice. In the final considerations, we discuss critical autoethnography as a doubly transforming experience, as it involves gradual and simultaneous processes of reading the world and reconstructing the teaching practice that occurred throughout the investigation itself.

Resumen La discusión de este texto, elaborado a partir de una investigación doctoral realizada en una escuela pública municipal de Rio Grande do Sul, pretende comprender cómo la autoetnografía crítica constituye un proceso de investigación teórico-metodológico que permite la reconstrucción de la práctica docente. Para ello, presentamos el aporte teórico-metodológico de la autoetnografía crítica al relacionar la investigación autoetnográfica con la fundamentación conceptual de la teoría crítica. En la secuencia, utilizamos narrativas de experiencias docentes para identificar cómo los procesos recursivos y reflexivos, ambos sustentados en la reflexión crítica, tienen implicaciones directas en la formación y práctica docente del investigador. En las consideraciones finales, nosotros discutimos la autoetnografía crítica como una experiencia doblemente transformadora, en tanto implica procesos graduales y simultáneos de lectura del mundo y de reconstrucción de la práctica docente que se dan a lo largo de la propia investigación.

Resumo A discussão deste texto, elaborada a partir de uma pesquisa de doutorado realizada em uma escola pública municipal do Rio Grande do Sul, tem por objetivo compreender como a autoetnografia crítica constitui um processo teórico-metodológico de pesquisa que permite reconstruir a prática docente. ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the role of music as a distraction technique to minimize anxiety during dental care in children aged 7 to 9 years when submitted to local anesthetic procedure. Method: This study was carried out in the Dentistry Module of the State University of Southwestern Bahia, located in the city of Jequié, Bahia, Brazil. It was performed through the application of the Facial Image Scale, measurement of heart rate and blood pressure with the aid of the digital sphygmomanometer at two different times during pediatric dentistry care with and without the influence of classical music. Data were tabulated in the Statistical Package for Social Sciences software, version 21.0, expressed as medians and interquartile range. For inferential statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test was used and the analysis of the effect of music was calculated using the paired T-tests and Wilcoxon, considering a significance level of 95%. Results: The sample consisted of 7 children, mostly male, with a median of 8 years of age. Regarding the psychophysiological variables, no significant variations were observed compared to before and after in the groups with music and without music. Conclusion: In this study, no differences were found regarding the reduction of anxiety in the group in which music was used. Additional studies with a representative sample are needed.

RESUMO Objetivo: avaliar o papel da música como técnica de distração para minimizar a ansiedade durante o atendimento odontológico em crianças de 7 a 9 anos de idade quando submetidas a procedimento anestésico local. Métodos: Este estudo foi realizado no Módulo de Odontologia da Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia, situado na cidade de Jequié – BA. Foi realizado a partir da aplicação da Facial Image Scale, mensuração da frequência cardíaca e pressão arterial com auxílio do esfigmomanômetro digital em dois momentos distintos ao longo do atendimento em odontopediatria com e sem a influência da música clássica. Os dados foram tabulados no software Statistical Package for Social Sciences, versão 21.0, expressos como medianas e intervalo interquartílico. Para a estatística inferencial, utilizou-se o teste de normalidade Shapiro-Wilk e a análise do efeito da música foi calculada utilizando os testes T-pareado e o Wilcoxon, considerando nível de significância de 95%. Resultados: A amostra foi constituída por 7 crianças, pertencendo sua maioria ao sexo masculino, com uma mediana de 8 anos de idade. Em relação às variáveis psicofisiológicas, não foram observadas variações significativas em comparação ao antes e depois nos grupos com música e sem música. Conclusões: Neste estudo não foram encontradas diferenças no que diz respeito à redução da ansiedade no grupo em que a música foi utilizada, havendo necessidade de estudos adicionais, com amostra representativa.

Abstract Introduction: Currently, people living with HIV/ AIDS (PLWHA) attain a life expectancy similar to a non-HIV population. However, these patients experience a status of chronic inflammation, which is a known cause of arteriopathy. Yet, literature is scarce regarding the potential venous inflammatory effect, especially after varicose vein surgery. The aim of this study was to perform a descriptive analysis alongside evaluating short and long-term outcomes after varicose vein surgery in PLWHA while comparing with a control group. Methods: A retrospective nested case-control study was performed resorting to codification. All PLWHA patients which had any hospital interaction with the Vascular Surgery Department (either outpatient clinic, emergency or surgery) due to venous disease between April 2006 and December 2019 were identified. PLWHA found to have undergone varicose vein surgery within the study inclusion period were included. The immediately consecutive varicose vein surgery in a patient with no-HIV infection was included in the control group in a 1:1 ratio. Comorbidities were collected at the time of index event. Results: The cohort included 118 patients (59 PLWHA and 59 control) and had a mean follow-up of 86 [Interquartile range (IQR) 25-75%, 43-111] months. At baseline, PLWHA were younger (45.2 ± 10.71 vs 49.9 ± 10.69 years, p=0.017) and had a male predominance (54% vs 27%, p=0.003). Furthermore, there were a higher prevalence of smokers (54% vs 17%, p<0.001) and history of drug abuse (34% vs 2%, p<0.001) in the study group. Although not statistically significant, PLWHA presented higher pre-operative CEAP classifications. Regarding post-operative outcomes, no differences were found for complications, reinterventions or overall-mortality. Conclusion: To the authors knowledge, this is the first study addressing varicose vein treatment in PLWHA. In summary, PLWHA undergoing varicose vein surgery seem to be younger and have higher CEAP classifications. Nonetheless, short and long-term outcomes seem to be good and similar to a control population. Further studies with larger populations and disease specific outcomes are necessary to confirm such findings.

RESUMO O uso de cultivares resistentes é um método eficiente e recomendável para manejo da mosca minadora, principal problema fitossanitário na cultura do meloeiro. Nesse contexto, os objetivos deste trabalho foram identificar fontes de resistência à mosca minadora em acessos de melão amarelo e determinar sua herança genética. Para tanto, foram realizados dois experimentos em campo nos municípios de Baraúna - RN e Icapuí - CE para identificar fontes de resistência. O delineamento adotado foi em blocos completos casualizados com 22 tratamentos e quatro repetições. Na avaliação foi quantificado o número de minas por folha. A heterogeneidade dos materiais estudados possibilitou identificar os acessos AM-RT e AM-TM como fontes de resistência, considerando que apresentaram número de minas igual a zero nos dois ambientes de avaliação. O acesso AM-RT foi selecionado e utilizado para obter a população S1 (autofecundação), população derivada de S1:2 e o cruzamento entre AM-RT e ‘Goldex’, que foram avaliadas em um terceiro ensaio de laboratório visando determinar o controle genético da resistência em AM-RT. Portanto, por meio do padrão de segregação das populações S1, S1:2 e do cruzamento (AM-RT’ and ‘Goldex’) avaliados, estimando-se os valores de qui quadrado (χ2), que foram de 1,33, 3,14 e 0,36, respectivamente, foi determinado que a herança da resistência é controlada por apenas um gene com dominância completa. Então, nesse estudo foram identificadas duas fontes de resistência à mosca minadora e um gene com dominância completa condiciona à resistência no acesso AM-RT.

ABSTRACT The use of resistant cultivars is an efficient and recommended method for the management of leafminers, which are the main phytosanitary problem in melons. The objectives of this study were to identify the sources of resistance to the leafminer in yellow melon accessions and to determine the resistance inheritance in acession AM-RT. Two field experiments were conducted in the municipalities of Baraúna, RN and Icapuí, CE, Brazil, to identify the sources of resistance. The design adopted was completely randomized blocks with 22 treatments and four replications. In this evaluation, the number of mines per leaf was quantified. The heterogeneity of the studied materials allowed for the identification of the accessions AM-RT and AM-TM as sources of resistance, considering that they revealed zero mines in the two evaluation environments. The accession AM-RT was selected and used to obtain the S1 population (by self-fertilization), S1:2 population derived from S1, and crossing between AM-RT and ‘Goldex’, which were evaluated in a third laboratory trial to determine the genetic control of resistance in that material. By the segregation pattern of the populations S1, S1:2, and the crossing (AM-RT and ‘Goldex’) and the estimation of the chi-squared (χ2) values, which were 1.33, 3.14, and 0.36, respectively, it was determined that the inheritance of resistance was controlled by only one gene with complete dominance. Therefore, in this study, two sources of resistance to the leafminer were identified, and resistance was conditioned by a gene with complete dominance in the accession ‘AM-RT’.

Resumo O marketing de guerrilha sugere o uso de mensagens e canais criativos e inesperados para se destacar na sobrelotada de comunicação de marketing. Apesar do crescente interesse pelo tema, as contribuições na literatura ainda são escassas. Este estudo visa explorar os impactos de campanhas de marketing de guerrilha no Facebook na imagem da marca e nas intenções de partilha do conteúdo. O estudo adota metodologia mista. A primeira fase teve um caráter mais exploratório e utilizou grupos de discussão para analisar as percepções e reações dos consumidores a campanhas de marketing de guerrilha. Seguiu-se um estudo quantitativo tendo por base um inquérito por questionário online com 256 consumidores portugueses após terem sido expostos a uma campanha de marketing de guerrilha. Os resultados sugerem que a interação com o marketing de guerrilha no Facebook depende das características do conteúdo, nomeadamente o apelo da mensagem. Enquanto o apelo humorístico potencializa a relação com o cliente ao aumentar o nível de interação, os apelos negativos (por exemplo, percebidos como ofensivos) geram reações adversas. Este estudo também mostra que os utilizadores frequentes do Facebook têm uma maior predisposição para interagir com o conteúdo de marketing de guerrilha.

Abstract Guerrilla marketing suggests using creative and unexpected messages and channels to stand out in the marketing communication crowd. Despite practitioners' growing interest in the topic, the contributions in the literature are still scarce. This study aims to explore the impacts of guerrilla marketing campaigns on Facebook on brand image and content sharing intentions. Mixed-method research was adopted. The first phase was more exploratory and used focus groups to analyze consumers' perceptions and responses to guerrilla marketing campaigns. It was followed by a quantitative study of 256 Portuguese consumers that answered an online survey after being exposed to a guerrilla marketing campaign on Facebook. Results suggest that customer interaction with guerrilla marketing on Facebook depends on content's characteristics, namely the message appeal. While humour appeal enhances the relationship with customers by increasing the level of interaction, negative appeals (e.g., perceived as offensive) generate adverse reactions. This study also shows that frequent Facebook users are more predisposed to interact with guerrilla marketing content.

RESUMO A murcha de Fusarium causada pelo fungo Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. passiflorae (Fop) é a principal doença de origem fúngica da cultura do maracujazeiro. Os clamidósporos, estruturas de resistência produzidas por Fop, permitem a sua sobrevivência no solo por vários anos, além de possuir atividade saprofítica. Dentre os métodos de manejo, a biofumigação por incorporação de repolho e mandioca brava tem-se apresentado como uma alternativa viável no controle de patógenos veiculados pelo solo. O objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar a influência de diferentes debris (restos vegetais) na fase de sobrevivência de Fop em condições de laboratório. Foram realizados testes in vitro com incorporação de folhas dos materiais vegetais maracujá amarelo, repolho, mandioca brava e mandioca mansa em substratos infestados com diferentes isolados de Fop. Foram avaliados o crescimento micelial e a produção e germinação de clamidósporos. A incorporação dos debris de repolho e mandioca brava teve efeito fungistático sobre Fop, com redução no crescimento micelial e produção de clamidósporos. A incorporação de repolho ao substrato inibiu totalmente a germinação de clamidósporos em 78% dos isolados avaliados e reduziu o percentual de germinação dos demais.

ABSTRACT Fusarium wilt, caused by the fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. passiflorae (Fop) is the main fungal disease in passion fruit crops. Chlamydospores, which are structures of resistance produced by Fop, allow the fungus survival in the soil for several years and have saprophytic activity. Biofumigation with incorporation of cabbage and bitter cassava has been a viable alternative, among management methods, for the control of soil pathogens. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of different plant debris (plant residues) on survival of Fop under laboratory conditions. In vitro tests were carried out with incorporation of leaves of yellow passion fruit, cabbage, bitter cassava, and sweet cassava plants into substrates infested with different Fop isolates. Mycelial growth and chlamydospore production and germination were evaluated. The incorporation of cabbage and bitter cassava debris had a fungistatic effect on Fop, with decreases in mycelial growth and chlamydospore production. The incorporation of cabbage into the substrate totally inhibited the chlamydospore germination in 78% of the evaluated isolates and decreased the germination percentage in the others.
