Abstract This study investigated the influence of resveratrol on peri-implant repair and its effects on bone-related markers in ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis in rats. Animals were divided into: OVX+PLAC (n = 10): ovariectomized animals treated with placebo; OVX+RESV (n = 10): OVX treated with resveratrol; OVX+PLAC+ZOL (n = 10): OVX treated with PLAC and zoledronate; OVX+RESV+ZOL (n = 10): OVX treated with RESV and ZOL; and SHOVX+PLAC (n = 10): sham ovariectomy treated with PLAC. RESV and PLAC were administrated after ovariectomy and ZOL after six weeks after OVX, until the end of experiment. One implant was inserted in each tibiae of animals 18 weeks after ovariectomy. After 4 weeks, one implant was removed for counter-torque, and peri-implant tissue was collected for mRNA quantification of several osteogenic markers by PCR. The other tibia was submitted to micro-computed tomography analysis. Reduced counter-torque values, bone-implant contact (BIC) and bone volume fraction (BV/TV), and higher bone porosity (BP) were detected in OVX+PLAC group when compared to SHOVX+PLAC (p < 0.05). OVX+RESV rats presented lower BIC, BV/TV, and trabecular number (Tb.N), and augmented BP and trabecular spacing (Tb.Sp) when compared to SHOVX+PLAC (p < 0.05). Higher Tb.N and connectivity density (Conn.Dn) and reduced Tb.Sp were observed in OVX rats treated with ZOL, independently of RESV, when compared to OVX+PLAC and OVX+RESV groups (p < 0.05), whereas the combination ZOL+RESV promoted lower BP when compared to OVT+PLAC and OVX+RESV (p < 0.05). Gene expression was not influenced by RESV (p > 0.05), whereas ZOL promoted up-regulation of BMP-2 (p<0.05). RESV did not improve peri-implant bone repair in rats with ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis.

RESUMO O óleo de Caryocar villosum é usado na medicina popular amazônica para tratar dores e condições inflamatórias. Assim, avaliamos as propriedades antiinflamatórias e antinociceptivas do extrato etanólico obtido das cascas dos frutos desta espécie. Os testes de contorções induzidas por ácido acético, hiperalgesia mecânica induzida por carragenina, formalina, edema de pata induzido por carragenina e peritonite induzida por carragenina foram usados em camundongos. O extrato etanólico de C. villosum obtido das cascas dos frutos inibiu significativamente o número de contorções abdominais, a hiperalgesia mecânica e o tempo de lambida da pata na segunda fase do teste de formalina. Na dose de 300 mg kg-1, o extrato também reduziu significativamente o volume de edema formado na fase tardia e reduziu o recrutamento de leucócitos e neutrófilos na cavidade peritoneal, bem como os níveis de quimiocina CXCL1. Sugere-se que o extrato atenua o recrutamento de leucócitos por meio da inibição da ativação de CXCL1. A atividade antinociceptiva periférica ocorre por meio da modulação da via opioide pois o pré-tratamento com o extrato etanólico de C. villosum reverteu a antinocicepção induzida pela naltrexona.

ABSTRACT The oil of Caryocar villosum is used in Amazonian folk medicine to treat pain and inflammatory conditions. So, we assessed the anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive properties of the ethanolic extract obtained from the fruit peels of this species. The acetic acid-induced writhing, carrageenan-induced mechanical hyperalgesia, formalin, carrageenan-induced paw edema and carrageenan-induced peritonitis tests were used on mice. The C. villosum ethanolic extract significantly inhibited the number of abdominal writhes, mechanical hyperalgesia and paw licking time in the second phase of the formalin test. At a dose of 300 mg kg-1, the extract also significantly reduced the volume of edema formed in the late phase and reduced the recruitment of leukocytes and neutrophils in the peritoneal cavity, as well as CXCL1 chemokine levels. It is suggested that the extract attenuates the leukocyte recruitment by inhibiting the CXCL1 activation. The peripheral antinociceptive activity occured through opioid pathway modulation because pretreatment with C. villosum ethanolic extract reversed the naltrexone-induced antinociception.

Abstract Objective: To provide guidelines on the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination in patients with immune-mediated rheumatic diseases (IMRD) to rheumatologists considering specific scenarios of the daily practice based on the shared-making decision (SMD) process. Methods: A task force was constituted by 24 rheumatologists (panel members), with clinical and research expertise in immunizations and infectious diseases in immunocompromised patients, endorsed by the Brazilian Society of Rheumatology (BSR), to develop guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination in patients with IMRD. A consensus was built through the Delphi method and involved four rounds of anonymous voting, where five options were used to determine the level of agreement (LOA), based on the Likert Scale: (1) strongly disagree; (2) disagree, (3) neither agree nor disagree (neutral); (4) agree; and (5) strongly agree. Nineteen questions were addressed and discussed via teleconference to formulate the answers. In order to identify the relevant data on COVID-19 vaccines, a search with standardized descriptors and synonyms was performed on September 10th, 2021, of the MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, ClinicalTrials.gov, and LILACS to identify studies of interest. We used the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale to assess the quality of nonrandomized studies. Results: All the nineteen questions-answers (Q&A) were approved by the BSR Task Force with more than 80% of panelists voting options 4—agree—and 5—strongly agree—, and a consensus was reached. These Guidelines were focused in SMD on the most appropriate timing for IMRD patients to get vaccinated to reach the adequate covid-19 vaccination response. Conclusion: These guidelines were developed by a BSR Task Force with a high LOA among panelists, based on the literature review of published studies and expert opinion for COVID-19 vaccination in IMRD patients. Noteworthy, in the pandemic period, up to the time of the review and the consensus process for this document, high-quality evidence was scarce. Thus, it is not a substitute for clinical judgment.

RESUMO Objetivo: Verificar a associação de distúrbios do sono com os achados de variabilidade da frequência cardíaca (VFC) em crianças e adolescentes com fibrose cística (FC). Métodos: Estudo transversal, incluindo crianças de 6 a 18 anos com diagnóstico clínico de FC. Dados sociodemográficos e clínicos foram coletados. Os distúrbios do sono foram avaliados por polissonografia basal noturna. O sistema nervoso autônomo (SNA) foi avaliado através da VFC em repouso. Resultados: Trinta indivíduos (11,2 anos) com média de volume expiratório forçado no primeiro segundo (VEF1) de 62,7% foram incluídos. O índice de distúrbios respiratórios do sono apresentou mediana de 2,6 e a síndrome da apneia obstrutiva do sono (SAOS) foi identificada em 30%. Na análise da VFC, foi encontrado um SDNN, desvio padrão médio de todos os intervalos RR (entre duas ondas R), de 60,8±45,9ms. Houve correlação significativa entre o índice de modulação global da VFC baixa-frequência/alta frequência (LF/HF) e a SpO2 mínima durante o sono em pacientes com VEF1<60% (r=0,71; p=0,020). A prevalência de distúrbios do sono e anormalidades na VFC foi maior em indivíduos com menor função pulmonar (VEF1<60%). Conclusões: Os resultados indicam uma correlação fraca dos distúrbios do sono (SpO2 mínima) com os parâmetros da VFC (LF/HF) em crianças e adolescentes com FC. Nos pacientes com função pulmonar reduzida, uma correlação mais forte foi encontrada, destacando a influência da gravidade da doença. Também foi encontrada alta prevalência de distúrbios do SNA, hipoxemia noturna e presença de SAOS.

ABSTRACT Objective: To assess the association of sleep disorders with the findings of heart rate variability (HRV) in children and adolescents with cystic fibrosis (CF). Methods: Cross-sectional study including children and adolescents aged six to 18 years with a clinical diagnosis of CF. Sociodemographic and clinical data were collected. Sleep disorders were evaluated using baseline nocturnal polysomnography. The autonomic nervous system (ANS) was evaluated through resting HRV. Results: A total of 30 individuals (11.2 years) with a mean forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1) of 62.7% were included. The respiratory disturbance index presented a median of 2.6 and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) was identified in 30%. In the HRV analysis, a mean standard deviation of all inter-beat (RR) intervals (SDNN) of 60.8±45.9ms was found. There was a significant correlation between the HRV low-frequency/high-frequency (LF/HF) global modulation index and the minimum SpO2 during sleep in patients with FEV1<60% (r=0.71; p=0.02). The prevalence of sleep disorders and HRV abnormalities was higher in individuals with lesser pulmonary function (FEV1<60%). Conclusions: The results indicate a weak correlation of sleep disorders (minimum SpO2) with HRV parameters (LH/HF) in children and adolescents with CF. When pulmonary function was reduced, a stronger correlation was found, highlighting the influence of disease severity. A high prevalence of ANS disorders, nocturnal hypoxemia, and presence of OSAS was also found.

RESUMO A comunidade quilombola Mesquita possui uma identidade intimamente relacionada com a terra; todavia, atualmente, as relações entre saúde e saneamento apresentam-se de forma precarizada devido à expansão do agronegócio e do mercado imobiliário. O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar os aspectos de saúde e saneamento da comunidade quilombola Mesquita da Cidade Ocidental do estado de Goiás, Brasil. Esta revisão foi estruturada no método de um scoping review elaborado com a finalidade de síntese de evidências auxiliando no direcionamento de políticas públicas e na tomada de decisões práticas para o território. Os principais resultados encontrados nos aspectos de saúde foram a importância da Unidade Básica de Saúde, da agroecologia e das terapias alternativas. Já nos aspectos de saneamento foram o abastecimento de água e o tratamento/disposição de resíduos sólidos. Constata-se que o fortalecimento e a interdependência da saúde humana e ambiental, da cultura e da ancestralidade da história africana e o reconhecimento dos direitos territoriais potencializarão o cuidado coletivo com o suporte de diferentes atores sociais. É notório que o enfrentamento da escravidão no Brasil ainda existe no Quilombo Mesquita, pela invisibilidade e inassistência refletidas atualmente pelas ações governamentais.

ABSTRACT The Mesquita quilombola community has an identity closely related to land, however, nowadays, the relationship between health and sanitation is precarious due to the expansion of agribusiness and the real estate market. The aim of this study was to identify the health and sanitation aspects of the quilombo community of Mesquita of Cidade Ocidental, in the state of Goiás, Brazil. This review was structured using a scoping review method designed to synthesize evidence to help guide public policies and make practical decisions for the territory. The main results found in health aspects were the importance of the Basic Health Unit, of agroecology, and of alternative therapies. As for sanitation, they were water supply and treatment/disposal of solid waste. It is said that the strengthening and interdependence of human and environmental health, of the culture and ancestry of African history and recognition of territorial rights will enhance collective care with the support of different social actors. It is clear that the fight against slavery in Brazil still exists in the Mesquita quilombo, due to the invisibility and lack of assistance currently reflected by governmental actions.

Resumen Marco contextual: La práctica docente en atención primaria es compleja, y la comunidad de práctica puede servir como espacio de formación pedagógica para los enfermeros supervisores y enfermeros docentes. Objetivo: Describir las acciones identificadas por los enfermeros supervisores y enfermeros docentes en la comunidad de práctica docente asistencial en la enseñanza de la atención primaria de la salud. Metodología: Investigación-acción cualitativa realizada mediante grupos focales con 13 enfermeros supervisores de atención primaria y enfermeros docentes. Se utilizó el software de análisis de datos AtlasTi 8 y el análisis de contenido de Bardin. Resultados: Se obtuvieron tres categorías, Acciones de los enfermeros docentes para la cualificación de la enseñanza de la enfermería en la atención primaria de la salud; Acciones de los enfermeros supervisores para la cualificación de la formación en enfermería en la atención primaria de la salud; Acciones de las instituciones de Enseñanza y salud para la cualificación de la práctica docente en la atención primaria de la salud. Conclusión: Los miembros se constituyeron como una comunidad de práctica, ya que compartían intereses comunes, lo que los llevó a comprometerse en la definición de acciones en el ejercicio docente, con especificidad en la atención primaria.

Resumo Enquadramento: A prática docente na atenção primária é complexa, podendo a comunidade de prática servir como espaço de formação pedagógica para os enfermeiros supervisores e enfermeiros docentes. Objetivo: Descrever as ações identificadas por enfermeiros supervisores e enfermeiros docentes em comunidade de prática docente assistencial no ensino na atenção primária em saúde. Metodologia: Pesquisa-ação, qualitativa, realizada com grupos focais com 13 enfermeiros supervisores da atenção primária e enfermeiros docentes. Utilizou-se o software de análise de dados AtlasTi 8, e análise de conteúdo de Bardin. Resultados: Obtiveram-se três categorias: Ações dos enfermeiros docentes para a qualificação da formação em enfermagem na atenção primária em saúde; Ações dos enfermeiros supervisores para a qualificação da formação em enfermagem na atenção primária em saúde; Ações das Instituições de Ensino e de Saúde para a qualificação da prática docente na atenção primária em saúde. Conclusão: Os membros constituíram-se enquanto uma comunidade de prática, pois compartilharam interesses comuns, levando ao engajamento sobre definição de ações no exercício docente com especificidade na atenção primária.

Abstract Background: Teaching in primary health care is complex, and the community of practice (COP) can be a place of pedagogical training for nurse tutors and nurse teachers. Objective: To describe the actions identified by nurse tutors and nurse teachers of a COP in primary care teaching. Methodology: Qualitative participatory action research carried out with 13 primary care nurse tutors and nurse teachers using focus groups. Data analysis used the Atlas Ti 8 software program, following Bardin’s content analysis approach. Results: Three categories emerged: Nurse teachers’ actions for the qualification of nursing education in Primary Health Care; Nurse tutors’ actions for the qualification of nursing education in Primary Health Care; and Education and Health Institutions’ actions for the qualification of teaching practices in Primary Health Care. Conclusion: The participants established a COP because they shared common interests, which led to the commitment to defining actions in primary health care teaching.

ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the satisfaction of adolescents undergoing dental treatment between 2016 and 2018 at the Dental School of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (FAO UFMG). Material and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study using the Oral Health Services Satisfaction Assessment Questionnaire (QASSaB). The structured questionnaire has eleven questions divided among the dimensions: dentist / patient relationship, relationship with other professionals, effectiveness, accessibility/availability, technical-scientific quality, cleanliness and physical environment, acceptability, effectiveness/resolution, each with five response options. Descriptive data analysis was performed using absolute and relative frequencies. Results: A total of 145 adolescents participated in this study, 60 males and 85 females; 74.85% of adolescents rated dental treatment received as excellent, 76.7% reported having no symptoms after treatment, 46.2% considered it easy/very easy to get treatment, 65.6% reported that waiting time was short/very short, 90% considered dental equipment modern/very modern, 98% regarded the cleanliness of the waiting room and bathrooms as being excellent, 83.4% reported that they always received an explanation about the treatment, and 51.57% were totally satisfied with the appearance of the treated teeth and their chewing capacity. Conclusion: It was possible to observe that the adolescents, users of FAO UFMG, were satisfied with the service in the studied dimensions: human relations, effectiveness, accessibility/availability, technical-scientific quality, physical environment/cleanliness, acceptability and resolvability/effectiveness.

RESUMO Objetivo: relatar experiências das autoras em relação à formação docente para o ensino da Educação Interprofissional. Desenvolvimento: relato de experiência a partir da observação direta das atividades de docentes de duas universidades públicas do estado da Bahia, entre 2014 e 2019. Os dados foram registrados em diário de campo, organizados por aproximação temática e analisados em suas partes e nas relações entre a formação docente e o ensino da Educação Interprofissional. Identificou-se três dimensões: inquietações e reflexões nos campos práticos; movimento de aproximação ao ensino da Educação Interprofissional; e movimento na pós-graduação. Conclusão: as experiências vividas na formação docente contribuíram para o ensino, tendo em vista a Educação Interprofissional, por suscitarem reflexões sobre os movimentos formativos do docente em direção à interprofissionalidade e constatações acerca das possibilidades formativas do docente. Espera-se que tais experiências sejam continuadas e aplicadas nos diferentes espaços de ensino

ABSTRACT Objective: To report the authors’ experiences regarding the training of faculty members for Interprofessional Education teaching. Development: Experience report using direct observation of the activities of professors from two public universities in the state of Bahia, between 2014 and 2019. The data were recorded in a field diary, organized by thematic approach and analyzed in its parts and in the relationships between the training of faculty members and the teaching of Interprofessional Education. Three dimensions were identified: concerns and reflections in practical activities; movement towards the teaching of Interprofessional Education; and movement in postgraduate health education. Conclusion: The experiences in the training of faculty members contributed to teaching, regarding Interprofessional Education, by raising reflections on the movements for training faculty members for interprofessional education and findings on the possibilities of the training of professors. We expect that these initiatives are implemented on a permanent basis and in different teaching spaces.

RESUMEN Objetivo: relatar experiencias de las autoras en lo que se refiere a la formación docente para la enseñanza de la Educación Interprofesional. Desarrollo: relato de experiencia a partir de la observación directa de las actividades de docentes de dos universidades públicas del estado de Bahía, entre 2014 y 2019. Los datos se registraron en un diario de campo, se organizaron por enfoque temático y se analizaron en sus partes y en las relaciones entre la formación docente y la enseñanza de la Educación Interprofesional. Se identificaron tres dimensiones: preocupaciones y reflexiones en los ámbitos prácticos; movimiento para abordar la enseñanza de la Educación Interprofesional; y movimiento en la formación de postgrado. Conclusión: las experiencias vividas en la formación docente han contribuido a la enseñanza, con vistas a la Educación Interprofesional, haciendo suscitar reflexiones sobre los movimientos formativos del docente hacia la interprofesionalidad y hallazgos sobre las posibilidades formativas del docente. Se espera que estas experiencias tengan continuidad y se apliquen en los diferentes espacios de enseñanza.

Abstract The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the impact of multiple freezing and thawing cycles on the physicochemical properties of Nile tilapia fillets. For this purpose, 72 fresh Nile tilapia fillets were packed and stored in a freezer at -18 °C. The frozen samples were submitted to five freeze-thaw cycles; in each cycle, the freezer was switched off during 14 hours. The consecutive freeze-thaw cycles resulted in a fillet’s total weight loss of 9.48%, with a quadratic regression (P < 0.0001) for thaw loss, with a greater loss percentage in cycle 3 (2.68%). pH values differed between the cycles (P < 0.0001), being observed an increment in this parameter only from cycle 4. The lipid oxidation remained constant in cycles 1, 2, 4 and 5, however in cycle 3 the lowest value (P < 0.0002) was observed. The luminosity, and intensity of the red and yellow colours increased linearly (P < 0.0001) as the cycles increased. Thereby, the tilapia fillets’ quality were adversely affected by the freezing cycles. The unfavourable alterations included weight loss, lipid oxidation and elevated pH, as well as the increasingly augmentation of brightness and red and yellow colorations of fillets as the progressive cycles occurred.

Abstract We evaluated the effect of the length of stay out of water on stress, gene expression, pH variation, blood parameters, histological analysis and water holding capacity (WHC) in fillets of the Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) cultivated in net-tanks. For this purpose, the fishes were maintained out of water under different periods of anoxia. Three and 6 min of anoxia in the pre-slaughter period increased the blood levels and mRNA expression of heat shock protein 70 the Nile tilapia and produced fillets with a less firm texture (greater sarcomere length). The evaluated periods of anoxia did not markedly affect pH and WHC. These results demonstrate that a pre-slaughter period of acute stress of up to 6 min does not considerably affect the quality of meat. The fillets of fish slaughtered in the early evening had a higher WHC and lower plasma glucose level than those slaughtered at the other time periods (morning and afternoon).

Resumo Os aneurismas do tronco tibiofibular são raros e consistem principalmente em pseudoaneurismas. Os autores descrevem um caso incomum de pseudoaneurisma do tronco tibiofibular secundário a endocardite bacteriana diagnosticada e tratada vários anos antes. Após a exclusão de um processo infeccioso ativo, o paciente foi tratado com sucesso através do implante percutâneo de um stent recoberto. O tratamento endovascular, neste contexto, apresentou uma alternativa segura e eficaz.

Abstract Tibioperoneal trunk aneurysms are rare and the majority of them are pseudoaneurysms This report describes an unusual case of a pseudoaneurysm secondary to bacterial endocarditis diagnosed and treated several years previously. After ruling out ongoing infection, the patient was successfully treated by percutaneous covered stent implantation. In this scenario, the use of endovascular techniques offered a safe and effective alternative treatment.

RESUMO Objetivo: Apresentar o método de injeção intralesional percutânea de calcitonina e metilprednisolona para promover a ossificação do cisto ósseo aneurismático (COA). Métodos: Foi realizado um estudo retrospectivo de coorte envolvendo 76 pacientes com diagnóstico de COA entre 2005 e 2014. Os pacientes tratados com injeção de calcitonina e metilprednisolona e acompanhados durante mais de dois anos foram considerados elegíveis para o estudo (n = 47). Foram utilizados o sistema de estadiamento de Enneking e a classificação de Capanna durante a avaliação inicial. A resposta ao tratamento foi avaliada pela classificação radiográfica Rastogi, com base no grau de cicatrização. Os testes X2, Wilcoxon e o cálculo da razão de chances foram utilizados na análise estatística com nível de significância de 5%. Resultados: A extremidade proximal da tíbia foi o local mais frequente (17,0%). Trinta e três (70,3%) COA eram B3 e 28 (59,7%) do tipo II. O número médio de injeções aplicadas foi de 2,8 por paciente, com redução média da área lítica inicial de 83,7% (p = 0,00001). Resultados satisfatórios para 91,4% (n = 43; p = 0,00001) dos pacientes e houve cinco recidivas. Nenhum efeito colateral foi observado. Conclusão: A injeção intralesional percutânea de calcitonina e metilprednisolona é um método minimamente invasivo, eficaz e seguro para promover a ossificação do COA. Nível de evidência IV, Tipo de estudo: série de casos.

ABSTRACT Objective: To introduce the intralesional calcitonin and methylprednisolone percutaneous injection method, which results in the promotion of primary aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) healing. Methods: A retrospective cohort study involving 76 patients diagnosed with ABC was performed between 2005 and 2014. Patients treated with calcitonin and methylprednisolone injection and who underwent more than 2 years of follow-up were considered eligible for the study (n=47). The Enneking staging and Capanna classification systems were used during the initial evaluation. Treatment response was assessed by Rastogi radiographic grading based on the degree of healing. X2 and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests and odds ratio calculations were used in the statistical analysis with a 5% significance level. Results: The proximal tibia extremity was the most commonly affected site (17.0%). Thirty-three (70.3%) ABC cases were staged as B3 and 28 (59.7%) were classified as type II. The average number of injections performed was 2.8 per patient, with an average reduction of the initial lytic area of 83.7% (p-value=0.00001). Satisfactory results for 91.4% (n=43; p-value=0.00001) were obtained and 5 recurrences occurred. No side effects were observed. Conclusion: Intralesional calcitonin and methylprednisolone percutaneous injection is a minimally invasive, effective, and safe method for promoting primary ABC healing. RESUMO A germinação in vitro de sementes é uma alternativa eficaz para obtenção de explantes com rapidez e qualidade sanitária. No entanto, sementes de jenipapeiro apresentam germinação lenta e desuniforme. Para tanto, fatores internos e externos às sementes que interferem diretamente no processo, devem ser identificados, visando à adaptação de melhores técnicas para obtenção de mudas. Neste sentido, objetivou-se otimizar a germinação in vitro de sementes de Genipa americana L. por meio da avaliação de diferentes fatores (qualidade de luz, tratamento com GA3, pré-embebição em água destilada, diferentes composições no meio de cultivo e estratificação no escuro). Verificou-se que a germinação das sementes foi indiferente a luz, no entanto, os melhores resultadados foram obtidos sob condições de escuro contínuo; Não houve efeito da aplicação de GA3 exógeno; A pré-embebição em água destilada durante 48h contribui para obtenção de melhores taxas de germinação; E a redução de sais do meio MS, bem como o pré-tratamento de estratificação no escuro maximizam o potencial germinativo das sementes. Portanto, as condições ótimas para germinação in vitro de sementes de G. americana L. requer a pré-embebição em água destilada por 48 horas e a inoculação em meio de cultivo constituído de 1/2 MS + 15 g L-1 de sacarose, com estratificação no escuro por 16 dias, seguida pela transferência a salas de crescimento com iluminação fornecida por lâmpadas fluorescentes branca.

ABSTRACT The in vitro seed germination is an effective alternative for quickly obtaining explants with sanitary quality. However, jenipapo seeds present slow and uneven germination. Therefore, internal and external factors to seed which directly interfere in the process, they must be identified, in order to adapt better techniques to obtain seedlings. In this sense, this work aimed to optimize the in vitro germination of Genipa americana L. seeds by evaluating different factors (light quality, GA3 treatment, pre-soaking in distilled water, growing media and stratification in the dark). It was found that the seed germination of G. americana was indifferent to light, however, the best results were obtained under conditions of continuous darkness; There was no effect of the application of exogenous GA3; The pre-soaking in distilled water for 48 h contributes to obtaining better germination rates; And the reduction in MS medium salts, and laminating the pretreatment in the dark maximizes the germination potential of seeds.Therefore, the optimal conditions for in vitro germination of G. americana L. seeds requires pre-soaking in distilled water for 48 hours and inoculation into culture media consisting of 1/2 MS + 15 g L-1 sucrose, with stratification in the dark for 16 days, followed by the transfer to growth chambers with lighting provided by white fluorescent lamps.
