FUNDAMENTO: Os efeitos do envelhecimento no músculo papilar têm sido amplamente demonstrados, mas não há dados disponíveis sobre os efeitos do exercício nas alterações relacionadas à idade. OBJETIVO: Analisar os efeitos do envelhecimento nas propriedades morfológicas e quantitativas do músculo papilar e investigar se um programa contínuo de exercícios moderados pode exercer um efeito protetor contra as conseqüências do envelhecimento. MÉTODOS: Microscopia eletrônica foi utilizada para estudar a densidade dos miócitos, capilares e tecido conectivo e área transversal dos miócitos do músculo papilar no ventrículo esquerdo de ratos Wistar de 6 e 13 meses, não-treinados e submetidos a exercícios. RESULTADOS: Como esperado, a densidade de volume dos miócitos diminui significantemente (p<0,05) com a idade. A densidade de comprimento dos capilares também diminui com a idade, mas não de forma significante. A fração de volume intersticial do tecido do músculo capilar aumenta significantemente com a idade (P<0,05). O número de perfis de miócitos mostrou uma redução de 20% que foi acompanhada de hipertrofia dos miócitos no envelhecimento (P<0,05). Animais submetidos a uma sessão diária de 60 minutos, 5 dias/semana a 1,8 km.h-1 de corrida moderada em esteira ergométrica durante 28 semanas mostraram uma reversão de todos os efeitos do envelhecimento observados no músculo papilar. CONCLUSÃO: O presente estudo apóia o conceito de que treinamento físico de longo prazo impede as mudanças deletérias relacionadas à idade no músculo capilar.

BACKGROUND: The effects of aging on papillary muscle have been widely demonstrated, but no data on the effects of exercise on the age-related changes are available. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the effects of aging on the morphological and quantitative properties of papillary muscle and investigate whether a long-term moderate exercise program would exert a protective effect against the effects of aging. METHODS: We used electron microscopy to study the density of myocytes, capillaries and connective tissue and the cross-sectional area of myocytes of the papillary muscle of the left ventricle of 6- and 13-month-old untrained and exercised Wistar rats. RESULTS: As expected, the volume density of myocytes declined significantly (p<0.05) with aging. The length density of myocardial capillaries also declined with aging, but not significantly. The interstitial volume fraction of the papillary muscle tissue increased significantly (P<0.05) with age. The number of myocyte profiles showed a reduction of 20% that was accompanied by myocyte hypertrophy in the aged rats (P<0.05). Animals submitted to a 60-minute daily session,, 5 days/wk at 1.8 km.h-1 of moderate running on a treadmill for 28 weeks showed a reversion of all the observed aging effects on papillary muscle. CONCLUSION: The present study supports the concept that long-term exercise training restrains the aging-related deleterious changes in the papillary muscle.

FUNDAMENTO: Los efectos del envejecimiento en el músculo papilar han sido demostrados de modo amplio, pero no hay datos disponibles sobre los efectos del ejercicio en las alteraciones relacionadas a la edad. OBJETIVO: Analizar los efectos del envejecimiento en las propiedades morfológicas y cuantitativas del músculo papilar e investigar si un programa continuo de ejercicios moderados puede ejercer un efecto protector contra las consecuencias del envejecimiento. MÉTODOS: Se utilizó microscopia electrónica para estudiar la densidad de los miocitos, capilares y tejido conectivo, así como el área transversal de los miocitos del músculo papilar en el ventrículo izquierdo de ratas Wistar de 6 y 13 meses, no entrenadas y sometidas a ejercicios. RESULTADOS: Como se esperaba, la densidad de volumen de los miocitos disminuye significantemente (p<0,05) con el avance de la edad. La densidad de longitud de los capilares también disminuye con la edad, pero no de forma significante. La fracción de volumen intersticial del tejido del músculo capilar aumenta significantemente con el avance de la edad (P<0,05). El número de perfiles de miocitos mostró una reducción del 20%, seguida de su hipertrofia en el envejecimiento (P<0,05). Sometidos a una sesión diaria de 60 minutos, 5 días/semana a 1,8 km.h-1 de corrida moderada en estera ergométrica durante 28 semanas, los animales mostraron una reversión de todos los efectos del envejecimiento observados en el músculo papilar. CONCLUSIÓN: El presente estudio apoya el concepto de que entrenamiento físico de largo plazo impide los cambios letales en el músculo capilar relacionados a la edad.

Doze cães domésticos (Canis familiaris) foram dissecados para o estudo da situação, arranjo e ramificação nervosa do gânglio distal do nervo vago e gânglio cervical cranial. Os gânglios apresentaram-se fusiformes e recobertos pelo músuculo digástrico. Os principais ramos do gânglio cervical cranial observados foram os ramos para a artéria carótida externa e artéria carótida interna. Destacou-se o nervo laringeal cranial como ramo do gânglio distal do nervo vago. O estudo revelou gânglio cervical cranial e o gânglio distal do vago eram estruturas bem desenvolvidas e não encontrou-se diferenças anatômicas entre os gânglios observados em ambos antímeros.

Twelve specimens of head and neck of the domestic dog (Canis familiaris) were dissected to study the situation, arrangements and branches of the distal vagal ganglion and the cranial cervical ganglion. The ganglions showed a fusiforme shape, covered by the M. digastricus. The main branches of the cranial cervical ganglion included the internal carotid and external carotid branches and of distal vagal ganglion included the cranial laryngeal nerve. This study showed that the cranial cervical ganglion and the distal vagal ganglion in dogs are well developed structure. There were no obvious anatomical differences between the same ganglions presented in both antimeres.

A estrutura segmentar da parede aórtica foi estudada em galo doméstico, em níveis torácico e abdominal, nas dimensões de microscopias óptica e eletrônica de varredura. Secções histológicas selecionadas foram submetidas a estudos histomorfométricos usando métodos de análises de imagens. As variáveis analisadas foram as espessuras das túnicas da parede aórtica em três segmentos investigados, compreendendo as porções ascendente torácica; descendente torácica e abdominal, bem como os diâmetros tubulares, em cada porção, e o número médio de lamelas elásticas na túnica média de cada segmento analisado. A parede aórtica do galo doméstico apresenta estrutura predominantemente elástica nas porções torácicas, cujo número relativo de lamelas elásticas decresce gradualmente para a parte abdominal da aorta, onde células musculares lisas predominam. Os diâmetros aórticos decrescem também gradualmente, e progressivamente, da porção torácica ascendente para a porção torácica descendente, e desta para a porção abdominal da aorta.

The segmental structure of the aortic wall at the thoracic and abdominal levels were studied in domestic chicken by light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Selected histological sections were submitted to histomorphometric studies using image analysis methods. The variables studied were the thickness of the aortic layers in the three segments investigated: ascendant thoracic, descendant thoracic and abdominal parts as well as the tubular diameters and the mean number of elastic lamellae in the medial layer of each analyzed segment. The aortic wall of the chicken had a predominately elastic structure in the thoracic portions, that decrease gradually in relative number of elastic lamellae towards the abdominal aorta in which smooth muscle cells predominated. Vascular diameters decreased gradually to the ascendant aorta from the descendant thoracic portion and to the last from the abdominal aorta.

Foram estabelecidos segmentos anatomocirúrgicos em pulmões de ovinos da raça Ideal (dezessete segmentos no pulmão direito e doze no esquerdo), mediante dissecação de peças coradas com látex colorido e fixadas em formol. Na maioria dos casos, a artéria pulmonar direita emite, a partir de um tronco, o ramo ascendente e descendente para as partes cranial e caudal do lobo cranial respectivamente; o ramo do lobo médio; o ramo do lobo caudal e o ramo do lobo acessório. Invariavelmente, a artéria pulmonar esquerda emite o ramo do lobo cranial e o ramo do lobo caudal.

Anatomicosurgical segments were established in ovine lungs of the ideal breed (seventeen segments in the right lung and twelve in the left lung), through dissection of pieces injected with colored latex and set in formalin solution. In most of the cases, the right pulmonary lung emits, starting from a trunk, the ascendant and the descendant branches to the cranial and caudal portion of the cranial lobe, respectively; the middle lobe branch; the caudal lobe branch and the accessory lobe branch. Invariably, the left pulmonary artery emits the cranial lobe branch and the caudal lobe branch.

O objetivo desta pesquisa foi estabelecer os segmentos anátomo-cirúrgicos arteriais, através da lobação e ramificação intralobar arterial, em pulmões de gato. Após a dissecção de vinte pulmões, notou-se que a artéria pulmonar direita geralmente emite um ramo para o lobo cranial e um ramo para o lobo médio, sendo originados juntos em um tronco. Um grande ramo irriga o lobo caudal na maioria dos casos. Dois ramos com origem comum no ramo arterial do lobo caudal irrigam o lobo acessório. A artéria pulmonar esquerda origina um tronco que, na maioria dos casos, emite um ramo para a porção cranial e um ramo para a porção caudal do lobo cranial esquerdo. Pode-se concluir que o pulmão direito é formado por quatro e o esquerdo por dois lobos, ocorrendo variações na ramificação arterial pulmonar.

The aim of this research was to establish the anatomicosurgical segments through lobation and arterial intralobar branching in cats lungs. After dissection of twenty lungs, it was noted that the right pulmonary artery, usually, emits a branch to the cranial lobe and a branch to the middle lobe, arising together from a trunk. A large branch irrigates the caudal lobe in most of the cases. Two branches arising in common origin from the caudal lobe branch irrigate the accessory lobe. The left pulmonary artery originates a trunk that, in most of the cases, emits a branch to the cranial and a branch to the caudal part of the left cranial lobe. It can be concluded that the right lung is formed by four and the left by two lobes, and variations occur in the pulmonary arterial branching.

O gânglio celíaco é um dos principais responsáveis pela inervação do estômago, intestinos, fígado, pâncreas e ainda contribui para a inervação do baço, sendo desta forma essencial ao controle da motilidade gastrointestinal. O conhecimento do suprimento nervoso endereçado a estes órgãos é fundamental na clínica médica e cirúrgica no tocante às atonias digestivas, gastroenterites hemorrágicas, torções gástricas e invaginações intestinais. Neste trabalho, estudou-se a anatomia macro e microscópica dos gânglios celíaco, celiacomesentérico e mesentérico cranial. Foram utilizados trinta gatos domésticos, adultos, 10 machos e 20 fêmeas. A aorta torácica desses gatos foi injetada com solução de Neoprene látex 650 corada, sendo os animais congelados por no mínimo 48 horas. A fixação foi feita posteriormente com solução aquosa de formol a 10%. Nos estudos microscópicos, utilizaram-se as seguintes colorações: hematoxilina-eosina, tricrômico de Masson, reticulina e hematoxilina ácida fosfotúngstica. O gânglio celíaco ocorreu 7 vezes, sendo 4 direitos e 3 esquerdos, predominando a forma elíptica (23,3%) e a situação periarterial. Os gânglios celiacomesentéricos foram contados em número de 24, sendo 11 independentes; 2 apresentando as porções direita e esquerda e 11 gânglios celiacomesentéricos direitos com uma porção mesentérica cranial esquerda, tendo formato semilunar assimétrico. Esses achados sugerem o predomínio da fusão do gânglio celíaco ao mesentérico cranial, constituindo assim o gânglio celiacomesentérico. Este é formado por neurônios imersos em abundante matriz conjuntiva fibrosa, envoltos por uma cápsula contendo fibras elásticas, colágenas e reticulares, apresentando uma continuidade nos pontos de fusão ganglionar.

The celiac ganglion plays a major role in the innervation of the stomach, intestines, liver and pancreas and also contributes to the innervation of the spleen and is therefore essential for the control of gastrointestinal motility. Clinicians and surgeons should be familiar with the nervous supply to these organs, specially in regard to digestive atonies, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, gastric torsion and intestinal invaginations. We studied the gross and microscopic anatomy of the celiac, celiacmesenteric and cranial mesenteric ganglia. We carried out 30 adults domestic cats, 10 males and 20 females. Red neoprene latex was injected into the thoracic aorta. Following this procedure, the animals were frozen for at least 48 hours. After unfreezing, fixation was concluded in 10% aqueous formaldehyde solution. Light microscopic studies were conducted using hematoxylin-eosin, Masson’s stain, the reticulin method and acid hematoxylin fosfotungstic. Located in periarterial position we observed 7 celiac ganglions, 4 to the right and 3 to the left. Most of them (23.3%) were elliptic. We also observed 24 celiac mesenteric ganglions. In two cases, the celiac mesenteric ganglion was composed of two portions: a right and a left portion, which join caudally to the cranial mesenteric artery. In 11 samples we noticed a right celiac mesenteric ganglion with a left cranial mesenteric portion surrounded the left face of the cranial mesenteric artery, thus contributing to its asymmetric semilunar form. These findings suggest that the fusion of the celiac and the mesenteric ganglions prevails. The result of this fusion is the celiac mesenteric ganglion that was formed of the neurons immersed in an abundant connective tissue matrix and are involved by a capsule which contains elastic, collagens and reticular fibers and continues at the ganglion’s fusion sites.

Estudamos a morfologia dos gânglios celíaco, celiacomesentérico e mesentérico cranial no búfalo. Estes são responsáveis pela motilidade gastrointestinal, sendo a sua sistematização essencial à clínica e à cirurgia, além de contribuir para o estabelecimento de uma anatomia funcional comparativa. Para a realização desta pesquisa, utilizamos 30 fetos de búfalos, sem raça definida, com idades que variaram entre 4 e 10 meses. Injetamos Neoprene Látex 650 na aorta torácica e, a seguir, fixamos os animais em solução aquosa de formol a 10% por um período mínimo de 72 horas. Macroscopicamente, evidenciamos 9 gânglios celíacos, localizados à direita (5) e à esquerda (4) da artéria celíaca. No tocante ao formato desses gânglios, constatamos predominância do tipo retangular (44,4% ± 16,6). O gânglio mesentérico cranial mostrou-se em 2 casos (6,7%), oportunidades em que as suas porções direita e esquerda envolviam a artéria mesentérica cranial. Os gânglios celiacomesentéricos foram em número de 30, apresentando diversos arranjos: um gânglio com porções direita e esquerda (70%); gânglios independentes (13,33%); gânglio celiacomesentérico direito com uma porção mesentérica esquerda (6,7%); gânglio celiacomesentérico esquerdo com uma porção mesentérica direita (10%). O formato do gânglio celiacomesentérico mostrou-se freqüentemente semilunar (86,7%). As estruturas de conexão do gânglio celiacomesentérico eram: o nervo esplâncnico maior, menor e nervos esplâncnicos lombares. Observamos ramos celíacos oriundos do tronco vagal dorsal e, em 21 casos (70% ± 8,4), eles eram também provenientes do tronco vagal ventral. Microscopicamente detectamos a presença de massas ganglionares, envolvidas por cápsula delicada de tecido conjuntivo contendo fibras elásticas, colágenas e reticulares.

We studied the morphology of the celiac, celiacmesenteric and cranial mesenteric ganglia. These ganglia are responsible by the gastrointestinal motility, being so its anatomotopographical characterization necessary for comparative anatomofunctional purposes. Thirty mixed breed buffalo fetuses aged 4 to 10 months were injected with Neoprene Latex 650 into the thoracic aorta and shortly after fixed in 10% aqueous formalin solution for at least 72 hours. The plexus exhibited 9 celiac ganglionar nodes, 5 of which on the right and 4 on the left side. The cranial mesenteric node occurred in 2 samples, where appeared both in a right and a left portion, in a semilunar disposition. On the other hand, 30 cranial celiac mesenteric ganglionar nodes were observed. They showed different morphological arrangements: single node with right and left portions occurred in 21 samples (70%), independent nodes (13.3%), left celiac mesenteric ganglionar node with a right mesenteric portion (10%), a right celiac mesenteric ganglionar node with a left mesenteric portion (6.7%). In regard to the shape of the cranial celiac mesenteric ganglionar node, we noticed the prevalence of the semilunar type (86.7%). The larger and smaller splanchnic nerves as well as the lumbar splanchnic nerves are considered connection structures of these ganglia. Celiac branches stemmed from the dorsal vagal trunk and in 21 samples they stemmed from the ventral vagal trunk. Microscopic evaluation allowed us the presence of nodular ganglionar tissue, which showed differences characteristics. This tissue was involved by a capsule, made up elastic, reticular and collagen fibers.

Estudou-se o comportamento do sistema portal hepático em 30 patos domésticos, adultos, machos e fêmeas. O sistema apresenta-se constituído por duas veias portais hepáticas: direita e esquerda. A veia portal hepática esquerda é formada por veias gástricas esquerdas (em número de 1 a 2), veias da margem ventral do ventrículo, veia pilórica e veia proventricular caudal. A veia portal hepática direita é formada pela veia mesentérica caudal, veia mesentérica cranial, veia proventrículo-esplênica e veia gastropancreaticoduodenal. A veia mesentérica caudal recebe tributárias do mesorreto, cloaca e junção ileocecocólica. A veia mesentérica cranial recebe tributárias jejunais (em número de 12 a 21) e se anastomosa com a veia mesentérica caudal, formando a veia mesentérica comum. A veia pancreaticoduodenal recebe duas veias gástricas direitas, constituindo assim a veia gastropancreaticoduodenal. A veia proventrículo-esplênica é formada pelas veias proventriculares dorsal e direita e pelas veias esplênicas.

In this research a study on the course of the portal hepatic system in 30 adult domestic ducks, male and female was performed. The portal venous system consists of two portal hepatic veins: right and left. The left portal hepatic vein is formed by left gastric veins (in a number varying from 1 to 2), veins from the ventral margin of the gizzard, piloric vein and caudal proventricular vein. The right portal hepatic vein is formed by the caudal mesenteric vein, cranial mesenteric vein, proventricular-spleenic vein and gastro-pancreatic-duodenal vein. The mesenteric caudal vein takes in tributaries from the mesorectum, cloaca and ileo-cecum-colic junction. The cranial mesenteric vein takes in jejunal tributaries (in number varying from 12 to 21) and forms anastomosys with the caudal mesenteric vein, which results in the common mesenteric vein. The pancreatic-duodenal vein receives two right gastric veins, this way forming the gastro-pancreatic-duodenal vein. The proventricular-spleenic vein is formed by the dorsal and right proventricular vein and by the spleenic veins.

Mediante esta pesquisa, estudamos os arranjos configurados pelas artérias mesentéricas cranial e caudal em 30 patos domésticos, 20 machos e 10 fêmeas. Foi realizada a injeção de látex 650 corado no sistema arterial e a seguir as peças foram fixadas em solução aquosa de formol a 10% para posteriormente serem dissecadas. A artéria mesentérica cranial nasce como um vaso ímpar da aorta descendente à altura da 6ª e 7ª costelas, em situação imediatamente caudal à artéria celíaca. Junto à junção íleo-ceco-cólica, subdivide-se basicamente em 3 ramos: o primeiro emite um vaso destinado ao colonreto, anastomosando-se com a artéria mesentérica caudal. O segundo ramo se comporta como tronco para as artérias jejunais, sendo que o número delas varia de 8 a 20. Finalmente, o terceiro ramo destina-se às porções principal e final do ceco direito e também ao íleo, vascularizando-os. No atinente ao comportamento da artéria mesentérica caudal, observamos que ela nasce como um vaso ímpar, a partir da aorta descendente, à altura das porções caudais dos rins. A artéria mesentérica caudal, na totalidade das peças examinadas, divide-se em 2 ramos: um cranial, que, por sua vez, emite 2 vasos menores para o mesorreto e um ramo caudal, que vasculariza a porção terminal do reto, bolsa cloacal e a cloaca.

Herewith we studied the pattern disposition of the cranial and caudal mesenteric arteries in 30 domestic ducks (Cairina moshata), 20 males and 10 females. Latex 650 was injected in the arterial system and then the samples were fixed in 10% aquous formol solution for later dissection. The cranial mesenteric artery originates as a single vessel from the descendent aorta at the 6th or 7th rib, in a position immediately caudal to the celiac artery. Close to the ileo-cecum-colic junction, it subdivides itself primarily in 3 branches: the first branch gives away a vessel that goes to the colorectum, forming anastomosys with the caudal mesenteric artery. The second branch follows as a trunk to the jejunal arteries, that vary in numbers from 8-20. Finally the third branch is directed to the main and final portions of the right cecum and also ileo, vascularizing them. Concerning the pattern followed by the caudal mesenteric artery, we observed that it originates from the aorta as a single vessel, next to the caudal portions of the kidneys. In all observed samples the caudal mesenteric artery divides itself in 2 branches: a cranial one, that by itself gives away two smaller vessels to the mesorectum and a caudal branch that vascularizes the final portion of the rectum, cloacal bursa and cloaca.

Mediante esta pesquisa, estudamos os arranjos configurados pela artéria celíaca em 30 patos domésticos Cairina moshata, sendo 20 machos e 10 fêmeas. Foi realizada a injeção de látex corado no sistema arterial e depois as peças foram fixadas em solução aquosa de formol a 10% para posterior dissecação dos vasos arteriais. A artéria celíaca nasce isoladamente da aorta descendente e fornece a artéria proventricular dorsal e a artéria esofágica e a seguir continua-se como tronco de dois outros ramos: esquerdo e direito. O ramo esquerdo emite um vaso que vasculariza a porção ventral do proventrículo (artéria proventricular ventral) e porção terminal do esôfago e, a seguir, fornece 3 ramos que vascularizam a face lateral esquerda e a margem cranial da moela ou ventrículo, bem como a junção pilórica na sua porção cranial. Do vaso destinado à margem cranial da moela, surgem artérias ao lobo hepático esquerdo em número de 1 em 5 preparações (16,6% ± 6,8), 2 em 14 peças (46,66% ± 9,1) ou 3 em 8 peças (26,66% ± 8,1). O ramo direito envia inicialmente as artérias esplênicas cujo número foi de 2 em 6 preparações (20% ± 7,3), 3 em 12 peças (40% ± 8,9), 4 em 8 peças (26,6% ± 8,1), 5 em 3 peças (10% ± 5,5) e 6 em 1 preparação (3,33% ± 3,3). Em seguida, emite colaterais ao lobo hepático direito que foram em número de 2 em 21 preparações (70% ± 8,4) ou 3 em 9 preparações (30% ± 8,4). Ainda, o ramo direito emite artérias endereçadas ao ceco esquerdo em número de 2 em 17 preparações (56,66% ± 9,1) ou 3 em 13 casos (43,33% ± 9,1). O ramo direito origina ainda 3 vasos endereçados à face lateral direita da moela (ventrículo), à margem caudal e à junção pilórica em sua porção mais caudal. A seguir, o ramo direito da artéria celíaca continua-se como artéria pancreaticoduodenal que supre o pâncreas e as porções ascendente e descendente do duodeno.

This research studied the arrangement formed by the celiac artery in 30 domestic ducks, Cairina moshata, 20 males and 10 females. Latex was injected in the arterial system and afterwards samples were fixed with a 10% formol solution. Later samples were dissected to permit better visualization of arterial vessels. The celiac artery leaves the arteria aorta, initially exits the arteria proventricularis dorsalis and the esophagic artery and then continues as two individuals branches: right and left. The left branch sends a vessel that is responsible for the irrigation of the ventral portion of the proventriculus (ventral proventricular artery) and the last end portion of the esophagus; then it sends three other branches to the left lateral portion and cranial border of the ventriculus and emits arteries to the left hepatic lobe. This was found occurring once in 5 samples (16.6% ± 6.8), twice in 14 samples (46.6% ± 9.1) and three times in 8 samples (26.66% ± 8.1). The right branch initially sends out the splenic artery. In 6 samples (20% ± 7.3) two arteries were found, in 12 samples (40% ± 8.9) 3 arteries were noticed and in 1 sample (3.33% ± 3.3) 6 arteries were described. Next it gives out collateral branches to the right hepatic lobe. The number of sent arteries varied from 2 in 21 samples (70% ± 8.4) to 3 in 9 samples (30% ± 8.4). The right branch still emits arteries that go to the left cecum and iliac portion next to it. This occurred with a minimal branch number of 2 in 17 samples (56.66% ± 9.1) or a maximal of 3 in 13 samples (43.33% ± 9.1). The right branch sends 3 more vessels to the lateral portion of the ventriculus, to its caudal margin and to the caudal portion of the piloric junction. After this, the right branch of the celiac artery continues as the pancreaticduodenal artery that irrigates the pancreas and the upper and lower parts of the duodenum.

Mediante esta pesquisa, estudamos a ramificação e a distribuição das artérias pulmonares em 20 fetos de bovinos azebuados (13 machos e 7 fêmeas), com idades variando entre 6 e 9 meses. As peças foram fixadas em solução aquosa de formol a 10%, e o método de dissecação consistiu da abertura da cavidade torácica desses animais, com vistas à individualização dos vasos arteriais e brônquios. Da artéria pulmonar direita observou-se que, mais comumente, 15 vezes (75%), parte como primeiro colateral o ramo ascendente, seguido do ramo descendente que acompanham os dois brônquios segmentares do brônquio traqueal, os quais irrigam, respectivamente, a porção cranial e caudal do lobo cranial do pulmão. Logo após este arranjo, surgem o ramo lobar acessório e em seguida o ramo lobar médio. O ramo lobar acessório pode emergir duas vezes (10%) depois do ramo lobar médio ou na mesma altura dele, cinco vezes (25%). Uma única vez (5%) aparecem dois ramos lobares médios. Em cinco preparações (25%), os dois primeiros ramos da artéria pulmonar direita são vistos a nascer em tronco comum, o ramo lobar cranial. Da artéria pulmonar esquerda nascem mais freqüentemente 18 vezes (90%) como 1º e 2º colaterais os ramos ascendente e descendente, e respectivamente duas vezes (10%) estes ramos provêm de um único colateral, o ramo lobar cranial. Em cada lobo caudal (direito e esquerdo), penetra um ramo lobar caudal (direito e esquerdo) que emite número bastante variado de ramos arteriais (6 a 14) do lado direito e (7 a 16) do lado esquerdo.

In this research we studied the ramification and distribution of pulmonary arteries. For this study we used 20 bovine zebu-like fetuses (13 male and 7 females), with ages varying from 06 to 09 months. The animals were fixed with formol 10% and the method of dissection consisted in the opening of the thoracic cavity and this allowed the individualization of arteries and bronchi. It was observed that usually, in 15 times (75%) the first collateral branch to leave the right pulmonary artery is the upward branch, followed by the downward branch, that join the two segmental bronchi from the tracheal bronchus, and respectively irrigates the cranial portion and the caudal lung lobe. Almost right after these structures the accessory lobar branch is followed by the middle lobar branch. The accessory lobar branch also appeared two times (10%) after the middle lobar branch, and 5 times (25%) at the same position of the middle lobar branch. Five preparations showed the first two branches of the right pulmonary artery emerging in form of a common branch, the cranial lobar branch. From the left pulmonary artery the first and second branches are 18 times (90%) the upward and downward branch. Two times (10%) these two branches came from a single collateral branch, the cranial lobar branch. A caudal lobar branch (right and left) enters each caudal lobe (right and left) and gives off a variable number of arterial branches (6 to 14) on the right side and (7 to 16) on the left side.
