Resumen: Objetivo: Analizar aspectos de la gestión de recursos de las unidades de cuidados intensivos (UCI) en tiempos de COVID-19 en la microrregión de Cariri, Ceará Método: Estudio descriptivo transversal en cuatro hospitales de la microrregión de Cariri, con 91 profesionales del equipo interdisciplinario que trabajan en UCI desde el inicio de la pandemia. La encuesta se realizó por correo electrónico, Instagram y/o WhatsApp y los datos se analizaron mediante la prueba chi-cuadrado, prueba T y gráfico de conglomerados Resultados: Respecto a los recursos humanos, el 73.6 % de los profesionales realizó un curso de manejo de pacientes en UCI durante la COVID-19 y el 67.0 % sobre control de infecciones relacionadas con los servicios sanitarios. El 64.8 % pudo hacer frente a las dificultades en la UCI, el 69,2 % fue reasignado de otros sectores hospitalarios para atender las demandas de la UCI y la mayoría de los profesionales (76.9 %) no tuvo apoyo psicológico para la pandemia. En cuanto a los recursos organizativos, el 100 % de las camas de la UCI de adultos estuvieron ocupadas durante la pandemia, con una diferencia entre antes y durante, durante y después de la crisis, con un aumento exponencial de la capacidad de camas (p<0,001), y sin diferencias significativas entre antes y después de la pandemia (p=0,035). Los recursos materiales escasearon y disminuyeron, como equipos de protección personal, oxígeno, medicamentos, entre otros Conclusión: Se pudo identificar la gestión de los recursos humanos, materiales y organizativos en los hospitales encuestados. Hubo un aumento exponencial de camas durante la crisis pandémica en comparación con la capacidad reportada por los profesionales antes de la pandemia. Por lo tanto, esta investigación contribuye al conocimiento de la gestión sanitaria y la reestructuración hospitalaria en tiempos de pandemia

Abstract: Objective: To analyze resource management aspects in intensive care units (ICU) in times of COVID-19 in Cariri microregion of Ceará. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study in four hospitals in the Cariri microregion, with 91 professionals from interdisciplinary teams who have been working in the ICU since the beginning of the pandemic. Research was conducted through email, Instagram and/or WhatsApp and the data were analyzed in the chi-square test, T-test and cluster chart Results: Regarding human resources, 73.6 % of professionals took a course on patient management in ICU during COVID-19 and 67.0 % on control of healthcare-associated infections. Of these professionals, 64.8 % were able to deal with the difficulties in the ICU, 69.2 % were relocated from other hospital sectors to meet ICU demands and most professionals (76.9 %) did not have psychological support for the pandemic. In structural resources, 100 % of adult ICU beds were occupied during the pandemic, presenting a difference between before and during, during and after the crisis with an exponential increase in bed capacity (p<0.001), and showing no significant differences in moments before and after the pandemic (p=0.035). Material resources were in short supply and decreased, such as personal protective equipment, oxygen, medicines, among others Conclusion: Identifying the reorganization of human, material and structural resources was possible in the researched hospitals. There has been an exponential increase in beds during the pandemic crisis when compared to the capacity reported by staff from moments before the pandemic. Therefore, this research contributes to the knowledge of health management and hospital restructuring in pandemic times

Método: Estudo descritivo do tipo transversal em quatro hospitais da microrregião do Cariri, com 91 profissionais da equipe interdisciplinar que atuam em UTI desde o início da pandemia. A pesquisa foi realizada através de e-mail, Instagram e/ou WhatsApp e os dados analisados em teste do qui-quadrado, teste-T e gráfico de clusters. Resultados: Acerca dos recursos humanos, 73,6 % dos profissionais realizaram curso de manejo do paciente em UTI durante a COVID-19 e 67,0 % sobre controle de infecções relacionados a serviços de saúde. Um 64,8 % conseguiram lidar como as dificuldades na UTI, 69,2 % foram remanejados de outros setores hospitalares para atender demandas da UTI e grande parte dos profissionais (76,9 %) não tiveram aporte psicológico para a pandemia. Nos recursos estruturais, 100 % dos leitos de UTI adulto foram ocupados durante a pandemia, apresentando diferença entre antes e durante, durante e após a crise com aumento exponencial da capacidade de leitos (p<0,001), e não apresentando diferenças significativas em momentos antes e após a pandemia (p=0,035). Recursos materiais estiveram em escassez e diminuição, como equipamentos de proteção individual, oxigênio, medicamentos, entre outros. Conclusão: Foi possível identificar a reorganização dos recursos humanos, materiais e estruturais dos hospitais da pesquisa. Houve aumento exponencial de leitos durante a crise pandêmica quando comparado a capacidade relatada pelos profissionais de momentos antes da pandemia. Portanto, esta pesquisa contribui para o conhecimento de gestão em saúde e reestruturação hospitalar em tempos de pandemia.

Resumo Flores fazem parte da vida humana desde a antiguidade. Várias civilizações deixaram como legado o uso de flores na arte, medicina natural, bem como na culinária para colorir, aromatizar, saborizar e embelezar pratos diversos. As flores comestíveis (FC) são aquelas que podem ser consumidas sem colocar em risco a saúde do consumidor. Embora nem todos os países do mundo utilizem flores na alimentação, seu uso tem aumentado de uma maneira geral, bem como o interesse de pesquisadores de diversas áreas do conhecimento, pois são consideradas novas fontes de nutrientes e compostos bioativos. Mas ainda se questiona a segurança do seu uso por causa da falta de mais informações sobre quantidade máxima segura de ingestão diária. A revisão aqui apresentada teve por objetivo levantar informações sobre o uso tradicional das FC, a segurança no consumo e a percepção dos consumidores sobre esses produtos.

Abstract Flowers have been part of human life since antiquity. Several civilizations have left the legacy of using flowers in art, natural medicine, as well as in cooking to color, flavor and embellish various dishes. Edible flowers (EF) are those that can be consumed without endangering consumer’s health. Although not all countries in the world use flowers for food, their use has increased in general, as well as the interest of researchers from different areas of knowledge, as they are considered new sources of nutrients and bioactive compounds. However, the safety of its use is still questioned due to the lack of more information about the maximum safe amount of daily intake. This review aimed to gather information about the traditional use of EF, safety in consumption and consumers’ perception of these products.

RESUMO Objetivo Verificar a influência da escolaridade em medidas de velocidade de leitura no ensino fundamental e explorar os níveis de precisão das variáveis da velocidade de leitura nos estágios de investigação epidemiológica de casos. Método Participaram 535 escolares do 2º ao 9º ano de escola particular e pública. A leitura oral de um texto simples foi avaliada nos parâmetros palavras lidas por minuto e palavras lidas corretamente por minuto. Foram conduzidas medidas de estatística descritiva e teste T de student com significância de 5%, além do escore Z, padronizado e individual. Resultados Os resultados corroboram a literatura que evidencia aumento da velocidade de leitura com a progressão da escolaridade. A fluência leitora se mostrou em processo de construção entre o 2º e o 7º ano do Ensino Fundamental, com estabilização a partir do 7º ano. Uma leitura mais fluente e homogênea se mostrou sedimentada entre o 7º e o 9º ano. O estudo propõe a interpretação dos achados com escalas sugestivas para déficit por meio do z-escore. Os dados são estratificados desde valores sugestivos de déficit importante até o não sugestivo, com um total de cinco estratos. A estratificação permite uma referência mais clara sobre qual ponto se encontra o escolar nas faixas esperadas para sua escolaridade. Conclusão As medidas dos valores esperados segundo a escolaridade são essenciais para melhor conhecimento do desenvolvimento da leitura, de forma a prover padrões de referência para um adequado monitoramento no âmbito clínico e educacional e predição das habilidades e dificuldades leitoras.

ABSTRACT Purpose To verify the influence of schooling on reading speed measures in Elementary School and Junior High, also aims to explore the levels of accuracy of the variables of reading speed in the epidemiological investigation stages of cases. Methods 535 students from the 2nd to the 9th grade from a private school and a state school system participated in the study. The oral reading of a simple text was evaluated in the following parameters: words read per minute and correctly words read per minute. Descriptive statistics and T-test measures with the significance of 5% were conducted, besides the z-score, standardized and individual. Results The results corroborate the literature review which shows an increase in reading speed with the progression of schooling. The reading fluency was presented in the construction process between the 2nd and 7th grades, with stabilization from the 7th year. A more fluent and homogeneous reading was sedimented between the 7th and 9th grades. The study proposes the interpretation of the findings with scales suggestive of the deficit using the z-score. The data are stratified from values suggestive of significant deficit to non-suggestive, with a total of five strata. The stratification allows a clearer reference on which point the scholar found in the expected ranges for their schooling. Conclusion The measures of the expected values according to schooling are essential for better-quality knowledge of reading development, to provide reference standards for adequate monitoring in the clinical and educational sphere and prediction of reading skills and difficulties.

Resumo: A cidade do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, apresenta elevado potencial de receptividade para a introdução, disseminação e persistência da transmissão de dengue. A ocupação do município conformou um mosaico heterogêneo e diversificado, com distribuição vetorial diferenciada entre e dentro dos bairros, proporcionando epidemias distintas nesta escala de observação. Este trabalho busca identificar essas epidemias e o padrão de difusão da transmissão do dengue sob a dimensão de tempo e espaço. Foi utilizado um modelo para a identificação de epidemias considerando os anos e meses de pico epidêmico, a distribuição espacial e a permanência das epidemias levando-se em conta o período de janeiro de 2000 a dezembro de 2013. Foram contabilizados 495 picos epidêmicos, e na escala de tempo evidenciou-se maior ocorrência nos meses de março, abril e fevereiro, respectivamente. Alguns bairros parecem apresentar um quadro persistente de incidência de dengue e o comportamento da difusão da doença permite identificar trajetórias e meses oportunos para a intervenção.

The pattern of territorial occupation in the municipality produced a heterogeneous and diverse mosaic, with differential vector distribution between and within neighborhoods, producing distinct epidemics on this scale of observation. The study seeks to identify these epidemics and the pattern of spatial and temporal diffusion of dengue transmission. A model was used for the identification of epidemics, considering the epidemic peak years and months, spatial distribution, and permanence of epidemics from January 2000 to December 2013. A total of 495 epidemic peaks were counted, and the time scale showed the highest occurrence in the months of March, April, and February, respectively. Some neighborhoods appear to present persistent dengue incidence, and the pattern of diffusion allows identifying key trajectories and timely months for intervention.

No Brasil Central, híbridos de sorgo podem ser semeados no outono, após a colheita da soja ou outra espécie de planta anual, com o objetivo de fornecer alimento aos ruminantes por meio de pastejo. O trabalho foi desenvolvido, por dois anos consecutivos, com o objetivo de quantificar os teores de ácido cianídrico das folhas e mensurar a altura das plantas, produção de massa seca de forragem e a proporção de folha e colmo nas diferentes idades do hibrido de sorgo IP400. A análise estatística foi realizada por meio de análise de regressão em função da idade das plantas. O teor de HCN nas folhas decresceu com o desenvolvimento das plantas, apresentando 205,0 e 230,3 mg HCN/100 g de MS de folha, com duas semanas de crescimento e 5,9 e 6,1 mg HCN/100 g de MS de folha, na quinta semana de crescimento, no primeiro e segundo ano, respectivamente. As plantas apresentaram em média 60 e 56 cm, na 4ª semana, e 117 e 151 cm na 8ª semana, no primeiro e segundo ano, respectivamente. A massa de forragem aumentou linearmente, com a idade, apresentando, em média, na sétima e oitava semanas de avaliação, 1.411 e 1.637 kg de MS/ha no primeiro ano e 2.905 e 3.640 kg de MS/ha no segundo ano, respectivamente. Com o crescimento das plantas, a proporção de folhas diminuiu e a proporção de colmo aumentou linearmente. A relação folha/colmo diminuiu com o crescimento, com o alongamento das plantas e aumento do peso dos colmos. O híbrido de sorgo deve ser pastejado, somente após a quinta semana de crescimento ou quando as plantas tiverem acima de 80 cm para não haver risco de intoxicação por HCN.

In central Brazil after soybean or other annual agricultural species is harvested, sorghum hybrids are planted in the fall in order to establish pastures for grazing animals. This study conducted for two consecutive years aimed at quantifying the contents of hydrocyanic acid in the leaves and determining plant height, forage dry matter yield and the leaf/stem ratio for sorghum hybrid 1P400 at different ages. Statistical analysis was performed by regression analysis based on plant age. Leaf HCN content decreased with plant growth, ranging from 205.0 and 230.3 mg HCN/100 g leaf DM at two weeks old to 5.9 and 6.1 mg HCN/100 g leaf DM at five weeks old in the first and second year, respectively. The average heights measured varied from 60 and 56 cm, in the 4th week, to 117 and 151 cm, in the 8th week, during the first and second experimental year, respectively. Forage mass increased linearly with age and displayed average of 1.411 and 1.637 kg DM/ha in the first year and, 2.905 and 3.640 kg DM/ha in the second year, during the 7th and 8th week, respectively. Leaf proportion decreased while stem increased linearly with plant age. The leaf/stem ratio decreased with plant growth, elongation and increasing stem weight. The sorghum hybrid should be grazed only after five weeks or when the plant height is above 80 cm, in order to avoid the risk of cyanide poisoning.

OBJECTIVES: This study evaluated the effectiveness of different home bleaching agents on color alteration and their influence on surface and subsurface microhardness of discolored bovine enamel. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Forty-five fragments of bovine incisors were randomly allocated into 3 groups (n=15) according to the bleaching agent: 10% carbamide peroxide gel (CP10), 16% carbamide peroxide gel (CP16) and 6.5%-hydrogen-peroxide-based strip (HP6.5). Before bleaching treatment, initial values of Knoop surface microhardness and color (CIEL*a*b*) were obtained and the fragments were artificially stained in hemolyzed rat blood. Then, bleaching treatments were performed over a 21-day period. Color changes (ΔE) were assessed at 7, 14 and 21 days, and final surface microhardness reading was done after 21 days. Thereafter, the fragments were bisected to obtain subsurface microhardness. Data were subjected to ANOVA and Tukey's tests (α=5%). RESULTS: Color changes produced by CP16 were similar to those of CP10, and the color changes produced by these materials were significantly superior to those produced by HP6.5. Color changes at 21 days were superior to 7 days and similar to 14 days. The time did not influence color changes for CP16, which showed similarity between the 14- and 21-day results. No statistically significant differences were found among the home bleaching agents for surface and subsurface microhardness. CONCLUSIONS: Microhardness of bovine enamel was not affected by the bleaching agents. The 16% carbamide peroxide gel was the most effective for bleaching the stained substrate.

Roraima is the northernmost state of Brazil, bordering both Venezuela and Guyana. Appropriate climate and vector conditions for dengue transmission together with its proximity to countries where all four dengue serotypes circulate make this state, particularly the capital Boa Vista, strategically important for dengue surveillance in Brazil. Nonetheless, few studies have addressed the population dynamics of Aedes aegypti in Boa Vista. In this study, we report temporal and spatial variations in Ae. aegypti population density using ovitraps in two highly populated neighbourhoods; Centro and Tancredo Neves. In three out of six surveys, Ae. aegypti was present in more than 80% of the sites visited. High presence levels of this mosquito suggest ubiquitous human exposure to the vector, at least during part of the year. The highest infestation rates occurred during the peak of the rainy seasons, but a large presence was also observed during the early dry season (although with more variation among years). Spatial distribution of positive houses changed from a sparse and local pattern to a very dense pattern during the dry-wet season transition. These results suggest that the risk of dengue transmission and the potential for the new serotype invasions are high for most of the year.

O artigo tem por finalidade relatar uma experiência vivida com alunos do curso de Administração em uma faculdade localizada na região metropolitana de Belo Horizonte. Procura identificar e analisar as dissonâncias vivenciadas por esses alunos durante a graduação, a sua visão de mundo e a maneira pela qual passam por experiências desconhecidas. Discute ainda a importância que os conteúdos das disciplinas integrantes dos currículos têm sobre suas vidas e sua formação, relacionando-os à forma como o ensino universitário está estruturado no Brasil. Finalmente, propõe alternativas que visam à redução da dissociação teoria-prática, tendo em vista os novos desafios impostos à Administração em decorrência das profundas mudanças nos cenários político, econômico e social, refletindo de forma significativa as relações capital x trabalho e principalmente, as relações de trabalho dentro das organizações.

The purpose of this paper is to report a situation experienced by students of Management in a college located in the Belo Horizonte metropolitan area. The article tries to identify and analyze the dissonances that the students encountered during the graduation process, the way they see the world and how they deal with unknown experiences. It also brings to discussion the importance that the courses’ program has in their lives as well as in their education, relating it to the way college education is structured in Brazil. Finally, it proposes alternatives to reduce the theoretical x practical dissociation regarding the new challenges Management is facing concerning the profound changes in the political, economical and social areas. It reflects in a meaningful way the relations among capital and work and mostly the work relation inside the organizations.
