School feeding is part of for million students' routine worldwide. Schools' closure during the COVID-19 pandemic brought to the fore the challenge of providing food for children and adolescents by alternative means, through food programs, whether governmental or otherwise. In Brazil, approximately 40.1 [1] million children and adolescents enrolled in basic public education were affected and went without their daily meal during this period. To provide them food, most local governments chose to transfer financial resources to their parents. The challenge of knowing if children are receiving these meals adequately during school closures, which can be lengthy, is the target of this study. The current situation in the 27 Brazilian federated entities regarding the transfer of funds and delivery of meals is presented herein. A monitoring model is proposed for children and adolescents to be followed during the pandemic, in order to guarantee their adequate nutrition.

A alimentação escolar faz parte da rotina de milhões de estudantes em todo o mundo. O fechamento das escolas durante a pandemia da COVID-19 trouxe à tona o desafio de fornecer alimentos para crianças e adolescentes de forma alternativa, por meio de programas alimentares, governamentais ou não. No Brasil, aproximadamente 40,1 [1] milhões de crianças e adolescentes matriculados na educação básica da rede pública foram afetadas e estão sem essa refeição diária. Para suprir a demanda deles, a maioria dos governos estaduais fez opção pelo repasse de recursos financeiros a seus pais. O desafio de saber se as crianças estão recebendo essas refeições adequadamente durante o fechamento da escola, que pode ser demorado, é o objeto deste estudo. A situação atual nos 27 entes federados brasileiros em relação à transferência de fundos e entrega de refeições é apresentada aqui. Um modelo de monitoramento é proposto para crianças e adolescentes a serem seguidos durante a pandemia, a fim de garantir uma nutrição adequada.

Abstract Paper aims This study aims to analyze the main applications of gamification in the industry, identifying its benefits and challenges, and to understand how game techniques are impacting the formation of engineers. Finally, the main perspectives of the use of gamification in the Industry 4.0 are presented. Originality The scientific literature was analyzed to infer practical applications, challenges, benefits and perspectives that can guide the implementation of gamification in Industry 4.0, aiming to help professionals and researchers to take better advantage of this approach and propel this new phase of the industry. Research method A literature review was conducted on the use of gamification in the industry. Main findings In this article, eleven aspects that must be taken into consideration during the application of gamification in the industries were observed. Five perspectives/situations of Gamification use were raised, namely: in the servitization; in learning and training; as a tool to increase intrinsic motivation; introducing new technologies and products; and innovation and flexibility. Implications for theory and practice This study systematically brings together the main approaches to gamification and its applications in the current industry scenario. In addition, this work contributes to the process of designing and implementing gamification in the industry.

Abstract The project-based learning (PBL) approach has been a part of the University of Brasilia's programme from the inception of its Industrial Engineering syllabus. Production Systems Project 4 course is one among eight courses that drive the utilization of PBL approach at the curriculum, the subject of this study, in which we present a set of analyses of the projects developed between 2013 and 2016. The projects involved real-world problems, related to public and private sector enterprises in Brazil’s Federal District. The conducted analyses aimed to identify the organizations’ profiles and the PPC (Production Planning and Control) techniques which were used to achieve project objectives. Therefore, statistical analyses were performed, such as Correlation Analysis, Cluster Analysis, as well as qualitative documental analysis. The results of this study indicate the profile of external partners that have the highest probability of achieving satisfactory results, as well as the main planning elements which impact the final grades of the projects.

Abstract Engineering education has been the subject of studies in search of approaches that provide better results in terms of learning. The Project Based Learning approach (PBL) is the subject of this study from the point of view of its application in Engineering. The objective is to present a classification and bibliometric analysis of PBL in Engineering. Publications on the subject were identified through queries at the journal databases at ISI Web of Science and Scopus SCImago between 2000 and 2016. The results highlight the benefits from the use of the PBL approach to learning in Engineering showing increased absorption of technical content by students and the development of soft and multi-disciplinary skills. The bibliometric analysis revealed the most relevant journals in the subject, authors and the most cited papers and keywords. New horizons to advance the use of PBL in engineering education are discussed.

Abstract The Industrial Engineering undergraduate program offered at the University of Brasília was structured on Project Based Learning (PBL) methodology. This innovative educational proposal allows the students to deploy their technical competencies through real problem solving situations. The methodology also stimulates the development of the students’ soft skills, by exposing them to a challenging environment. At the end of each project, the results are presented to an external agent, and are subsequently implemented. The objective of this paper is to present the evolution of the PSP courses, which adopt as guidelines both the PMBOK project management framework, as well as content from specific technical courses related to the project’s subject. One other relevant aspect of the PSP courses is their involvement of both undergraduate and graduate students from different Engineering areas, such as Industrial, Mechanical and Civil Engineering, which serves to foster a more holistic and integrated problem-solving skillset.

Este artigo apresenta os resultados de uma investigação acerca das práticas de gerenciamento da manutenção nas indústrias de manufatura de médio e grande porte da Região Metropolitana de Recife, nos diversos ramos de atividade. A pesquisa foi realizada por meio da aplicação in loco de um questionário que aborda questões importantes do contexto da manutenção. As 50 indústrias entrevistadas foram selecionadas por meio de uma amostragem probabilística cuja estrutura foi extraída do cadastro da Federação das Indústrias do Estado de Pernambuco (anos de 2005 e 2006). As entrevistas foram conduzidas durante o segundo e terceiro trimestres de 2007 e, dentre os resultados encontrados, pode-se afirmar que a manutenção mostrou algumas deficiências que podem ser amenizadas e até mesmo superadas por meio de uma maior atenção a esse setor. Além disso, pode-se destacar que grande parte das indústrias utiliza a experiência gerencial como ferramenta de análise em detrimento de técnicas analíticas mais eficientes para a solução de problemas. Esse comportamento limita os resultados positivos que podem ser obtidos a partir de um tratamento adequado da manutenção.

This article presents the results of a research study on maintenance management practices in medium and large manufacturing industries in the metropolitan area of Recife, in various branches of activity. The survey was carried out by means of in loco application of questionnaires addressing important issues dealing with the context of maintenance. The 50 industries surveyed were selected by probability sampling, where sampling framework was drawn from the records of the Federation of Industries of the State of Pernambuco, in 2005 and 2006. The interviews were conducted during the second and third quarters of 2007. Among the results, it is possible to state that maintenance has presented some shortcomings, which can be mitigated or even overcome through greater attention to the sector. Moreover, it is possible to note that most industries use experience as a management tool, at the expense of more efficient analytical techniques for solving problems. This behavior limits the positive results that can be obtained from an appropriate treatment to maintenance.
