ABSTRACT Background: To analyze the epidemiology, surveillance, and control strategies for trachoma in the state of Ceará, northeast Brazil, from 2007 to 2021. Methods: This ecological study was based on secondary data from the Information System on Notifiable Diseases of the Secretary of Health of the state of Ceará. Data from school and home surveys for trachoma detection obtained during the study period were analyzed, the percentage of positivity was estimated, and sociodemographic and clinico-epidemiological factors were investigated. Results: The coverage of trachoma surveillance and control actions in Ceará municipalities increased from 12.5% in 2007 to 55.9% in 2019, but with an average restriction of 8.0% during the COVID-19 pandemic. The estimated trachoma positivity (mean overall positivity) was less than 5.0% (2.76%, 95% CI 1.2-5.2), with a higher proportion of cases in the 5-9-year age group (45.0%, 95% CI 44.6-45.4), in females (53.2%, 95% CI 52.8-53.6), and rural areas (52.6%, 95% CI 52.2-53.0). Positivity above 10.0% was observed in the Litoral Leste/Jaguaribe and Sertão Central regions, with a higher occurrence of the follicular inflammatory clinical form (98.1%, 95% CI 98.0-98.2). Conclusions: Trachoma remains in the state of Ceará and is likely underreported. Despite recent advances, the fragility of health surveillance activities compromises the recognition of the actual magnitude and distribution of trachoma in the state. Accurate information is fundamental for planning, monitoring, and evaluating surveillance and disease control.

Abstract The Nascentes do Rio Parnaíba National Park (NPNP), located in Brazilian Cerrado, protects portions of three river basins: headwaters of Parnaíba, a small portion in upper Tocantins-Araguaia, and tributaries of the middle section of the São Francisco. This protected area is in the boundaries of the states of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí, and Bahia, also known as MATOPIBA, a region that has established rapid agricultural expansion associated to land conflicts between corporate agriculture, family agriculture, protected areas, indigenous territories, and quilombola communities. The knowledge of the ichthyofauna in this region is scarce while the impacts on the aquatic environments are increasing. We made a survey of fishes in the NPNP and its surroundings areas, estimating richness, endemics, introduced and shared species between river basins. During 2014, 54 sampling sites were visited, 19 in the NPNP and 35 in the surrounding area. Ninety-five species, 51 genera, 22 families, and six orders were recorded, of which 38 (40%) are in the NPNP. One introduced species were recorded in the Parnaíba River basin and no endangered species were registered. Our data corroborate the importance of the network of protected areas for the preservation of Cerrado fishes, including some possibly undescribed and restricted-range species that may be threatened due to intense agricultural encroachment in the MATOPIBA region.

Resumo O Parque Nacional Nascentes do Rio Parnaíba (PNNP), localizado no Cerrado brasileiro, protege diferentes porções de três bacias hidrográficas, as cabeceiras do Parnaíba, uma pequena porção do alto rio Tocantins e tributários do trecho médio do São Francisco. Esta área protegida está localizada nos limites dos estados do Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí e Bahia, também conhecida como MATOPIBA, região que tem apresentado rápida expansão agrícola associada a conflitos fundiários do agronegócio com agricultura familiar, áreas protegidas, territórios indígenas e comunidades quilombolas. O conhecimento da ictiofauna nessas regiões é escasso, embora os impactos sobre os ecossistemas aquáticos sejam crescentes. Assim, elaboramos um levantamento de peixes do PNNP e em seu entorno, identificando a riqueza, espécies endêmicas, introduzidas e compartilhadas entre bacias hidrográficas. Durante o ano de 2014 foram visitados 54 locais de amostragem, 19 no PNNP e 35 no entorno. Foram coletadas 95 espécies, 51 gêneros, 22 famílias e seis ordens, das quais 38 espécies (40%) estão no PNNP. Uma espécie introduzida foi registrada na bacia do rio Parnaíba e nenhuma espécie ameaçada de extinção foi registrada. Os dados aqui apresentados corroboram a importância da rede de áreas protegidas para a preservação dos peixes do Cerrado, com espécies potencialmente novas e de distribuição restrita, que podem estar ameaçadas devido à intensa expansão agrícola na região do MATOPIBA.

Abstract Background The extent of cardiac damage associated with aortic stenosis has important prognostic implications after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). However, the role of tricuspid regurgitation (TR) in this clinical setting is still unclear. Objectives To explore the association between TR and mortality in patients undergoing TAVR and assess changes in TR severity post TAVR and its relationship with short and mid-term mortality. Methods Relevant databases were searched for articles published from inception until August 2020. Out of 414 screened studies, we selected 24 that reported the degree of TR pre or post TAVR. The primary outcome was all-cause mortality, and random effects meta-analysis models were conducted (at a significance level of 5%). Results Seventeen studies reported associations between pre-TAVR TR and all-cause mortality (> 45,000 participants) and thirteen accessed TR severity post TAVR (709 participants). Moderate/severe baseline TR was associated to higher all-cause mortality both at 30 days (HR 1.65; 95% CI, 1.20-2.29) and 1.2 years (HR 1.56; 95% CI, 1.31-1.84). After TAVR, 43% of patients presented a decrease of at least one grade in TR (30 days, 95% CI, 30-56%), sustained at 12.5 months in 44% of participants (95% CI, 35-52%). Persistence of significant TR was associated with a two-fold increase in all-cause mortality (HR 2.12; 95% CI, 1.53-2.92). Conclusions Significant TR pre TAVR is associated with higher mortality. Although TR severity may improve, the persistence of significant TR post TAVR is strongly associated with increased mortality. Our findings highlight the importance of a detailed assessment of TR pre and post TAVR and might help identify patients who may benefit from more careful surveillance in this scenario.

Resumo Fundamento A extensão do dano cardíaco associada à estenose aórtica tem importantes implicações prognósticas após a substituição da valva aórtica transcateter (TAVR). Contudo, ainda não está claro qual é o papel da insuficiência tricúspide (IT) nesse cenário clínico. Objetivos Explorar a associação entre IT e mortalidade em pacientes submetidos a TAVR e avaliar as alterações na gravidade da IT após a TAVR e sua relação com mortalidade de curto e médio prazo. Métodos Foram feitas pesquisas em bases de dados relevantes de artigos publicados do início até agosto de 2020. Dos 414 estudos triados, selecionamos 24 que relataram o grau de IT pré- ou pós-TAVR. O desfecho primário foi mortalidade por todas as causas, e foram conduzidos modelos de metanálise de efeitos aleatórios (a um nível de significância de 5%). Resultados Dezessete estudos relataram associações entre IT pré-TAVR e mortalidade por todas as causas (> 45.000 participantes), e 13 avaliaram a gravidade da IT pós-TAVR (709 participantes). A IT basal moderada/grave foi associada a maior mortalidade por todas as causas em 30 dias [razão de risco (RR) 1,65; intervalo de confiança (IC) 95% 1,20-2,29] e 1,2 ano (RR 1,56; IC95% 1,31-1,84). Após a TAVR, 43% dos pacientes apresentaram redução de pelo menos um grau na IT (30 dias, IC95% 30-56%), que se sustentou em 12,5 meses em 44% dos participantes (IC95% 35-52%).A persistência de IT significativa foi associada a um aumento de duas vezes na mortalidade por todas as causas (RR 2,12; IC95% 1,53-2,92). Conclusões A IT significativa pré-TAVR está associada a maior mortalidade. Ainda que a gravidade da IT possa melhorar, a persistência de IT significativa após a TAVR está fortemente associada ao aumento da mortalidade. Nossos achados destacam a importância de uma avaliação detalhada da IT pré- e pós-TAVR e podem ajudar a identificar pacientes que possam se beneficiar de uma vigilância mais cuidadosa nesse cenário.

Abstract Objective To evaluate clinical characteristics and outcomes of COVID-19 patients infected with HIV, and to compare with a paired sample without HIV infection. Methods This is a substudy of a Brazilian multicentric cohort that comprised two periods (2020 and 2021). Data was obtained through the retrospective review of medical records. Primary outcomes were admission to the intensive care unit, invasive mechanical ventilation, and death. Patients with HIV and controls were matched for age, sex, number of comorbidities, and hospital of origin using the technique of propensity score matching (up to 4:1). They were compared using the Chi-Square or Fisher's Exact tests for categorical variables and the Wilcoxon for numerical variables. Results Throughout the study, 17,101 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, and 130 (0.76%) of those were infected with HIV. The median age was 54 (IQR: 43.0;64.0) years in 2020 and 53 (IQR: 46.0;63.5) years in 2021, with a predominance of females in both periods. People Living with HIV (PLHIV) and their controls showed similar prevalence for admission to the ICU and invasive mechanical ventilation requirement in the two periods, with no significant differences. In 2020, in-hospital mortality was higher in the PLHIV compared to the controls (27.9% vs. 17.7%; p = 0.049), but there was no difference in mortality between groups in 2021 (25.0% vs. 25.1%; p > 0.999). Conclusions Our results reiterate that PLHIV were at higher risk of COVID-19 mortality in the early stages of the pandemic, however, this finding did not sustain in 2021, when the mortality rate is similar to the control group.

Resumo Investigou-se a associação entre o consumo de álcool pelos escolares com os conflitos familiares, supervisão dos pais e qualidade dos relacionamentos. Estudo transversal realizado com 1.265 adolescentes de 21 escolas. Foi utilizada a versão brasileira do Inventário de Triagem do Uso de Drogas/DUSI e estimadas prevalências absolutas e relativas para variáveis categóricas, e conduzidas análises bivariadas: teste Qui Quadrado de Pearson. Para magnitude da associação entre a variável dependente e independentes foram estimadas razões de prevalências por meio deregressão multivariável de Poisson. Houve associação do consumo de álcool com uso de drogas por familiares, discussões frequentes e desconhecimento dos pais sobre o que os adolescentes fazem. Supervisão familiar, bom relacionamento com pais/responsáveis, estabelecimento de vínculo familiar afetivo e ciência dos pais acerca do que os adolescentes fazem e onde estão, foram fatores de proteção para uso de álcool. Concluiu-se que a alta taxa de escolares que consomem álcool é preocupante, passível de complicações da saúde na sua integralidade, sendo fundamental relação familiar harmonizada. A implementação de práticas interventivas entre escola e Estratégia de Saúde da Família, podem contribuir no estabelecimento de vínculo protetivo.

Abstract The association between alcohol consumption by students with family conflicts, parental supervision and quality of relationships was investigated. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 1,265 adolescents from 21 schools. The Brazilian version of the Drug Use Screening Inventory/DUSI was used, and absolute and relative prevalence for categorical variables was estimated, while bivariate analyses and Pearson’s Chi Square test were conducted. For the magnitude of the association between the dependent and independent variables, prevalence ratios were estimated using Poisson multivariate regression. There was an association between alcohol consumption and drug use by family members, frequent discussions and parental lack of awareness about adolescents’ activities. Family supervision, a good relationship with parents/guardians, establishing an affective family bond and parents’ knowledge about teenagers’ whereabouts, were protective factors for alcohol use. The conclusion was that the high rate of schoolchildren who consume alcohol is worrying, liable to health complications in general, and a harmonized family relationship is fundamental. The implementation of measures of intervention between school and the Family Health Strategy, can contribute to the establishment of a protective bond.

Resumen: Objetivo: realizar una caracterización espacio-temporal de la incidencia de tuberculosis (TB) en Maputo, Mozambique. Método: estudio ecológico descriptivo de casos de tuberculosis reportados en un sistema de información. Se analizó la tasa de incidencia media anual y el número de casos de notificación de TB en el municipio de Maputo entre 2011 y 2016. Se utilizó estadística descriptiva para calcular las medidas de tendencia central (media) y la aplicación del modelo de regresión lineal de Poisson Las notificaciones trimestrales se estratificaron por distrito, forma clínica y grupo de edad. Resultados: se notificaron 34,623 casos de TB entre 2011 y 2016, con un promedio trimestral de 1,443 casos. La incidencia anual promedio fue mayor en el distrito de Kampfumo, 909.8 por cada 100 mil habitantes (IC 95% 854.1 - 968.2), casi el doble que la incidencia del municipio de Maputo, 527.8 (IC 95% 514 , 3-541.6), y el país de Mozambique, 551 (95% CI 356 - 787). El diagnóstico clínico de los casos fue mayor en relación al diagnóstico bacteriológico, 44% y 35%, respectivamente. Conclusión: Maputo tuvo tasas de incidencia similares a las del país, sin embargo, hubo una heterogeneidad en las tasas por distrito y una reducción en el número de casos de TB en la población general (no coinfectados con VIH) y en los mayores de 15 años, siendo mayores en el primer trimestre.

Abstract: Objective: Carry out a spatial-temporal characterization of the incidence of tuberculosis (TB) in Maputo, Mozambique. Method: a descriptive ecological study of tuberculosis cases reported in an information system. The annual mean incidence rate and the number of TB notification cases in the municipality of Maputo from 2011 to 2016 were analyzed. Descriptive statistics were used with calculations of measures of central tendency (mean) and an application of the Poisson linear regression model. Trimester notifications were stratified by district, clinical form, and age group. The quarterly average temperature of the evaluated area was added as a covariate in the model seasonal. Results: 34,623 TB cases were notified from 2011 to 2016, with a trimester average of 1,443 cases. The average annual incidence was higher in the Kampfumo district, with 909.8 per 100 thousand inhabitants (95% CI 854.1 - 968.2); almost twice as much as the incidence of the municipality of Maputo, 527.8 (95% CI 514, 3-541.6), and the country of Mozambique, 551 (95% CI 356 - 787). The clinical diagnosis of the tested cases was higher concerning the bacteriological diagnosis; 44%, and 35%, respectively. Conclusion: Maputo had similar incidence rates to the country of Mozambique, however, there was a heterogeneity rate by district and a reduction in the number of TB cases in both the general population (not co-infected with HIV) and those over 15 years old, being higher in the first trimester.

RESUMEN Este estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar el crecimiento, producción y nutrición de algodón de color natural (cultivar BRS Verde) regado con agua salina en diferentes etapas de crecimiento. El ensayo se realizó en un diseño de bloques al azar en el que los tratamientos consistieron en tres niveles de salinidad del agua de riego aplicados a lo largo del ciclo del cultivo o alternativamente en tres etapas de crecimiento. El agua de menor salinidad se extrajo del acuífero Arenito Açu en el estado de Rio Grande do Norte, Brasil; el agua de mayor salinidad se preparó para obtener una salinidad similar a la del agua extraída del acuífero Calcário Jandaíra, y la salinidad intermedia se obtuvo de la mezcla de volúmenes iguales de las aguas de menor y mayor salinidad. Se recomienda la aplicación de agua de menor salinidad en todas las etapas de crecimiento debido a los incrementos de aproximadamente 19% en el crecimiento del algodón y 40% en el rendimiento comparado con la aplicación de agua de intermedia o mayor salinidad. La aplicación de agua de menor salinidad en la etapa vegetativa y de agua de salinidad intermedia en las siguientes etapas es una alternativa al uso de agua de buena calidad durante todo el ciclo, a pesar de las disminuciones de alrededor de 7% en el crecimiento y 16% en el rendimiento. La nutrición de las plantas de algodón regadas con agua salina durante todo el ciclo o en algunas etapas de crecimiento estuvo marcada por un aumento de hasta un 86% en el contenido de sodio de la hoja de algodón, una disminución del contenido de potasio de la hoja de hasta un 21% y aumentos entre un 24 y 188% en el contenido de micronutrientes de las hojas cuando el agua de mayor salinidad reemplazó a la de menor salinidad.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the growth, production, and nutrition of naturally colored cotton (cultivar BRS Verde) irrigated with saline water in different growth stages. The trial was conducted with a randomized block design in which the treatments consisted of three irrigation water salinity levels applied throughout the crop cycle or alternately in three growth stages. The lowest-salinity water was drawn from the Arenito Açu aquifer in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil; the highest-salinity water was prepared to obtain salinity similar to the water drawn from the Calcário Jandaíra aquifer, and an intermediate salinity was obtained from the mixture of equal volumes of the lowest and highest-salinity waters. The application of the lowest-salinity water is recommended in all growth stages due to the increases of about 19% in cotton growth and 40% in yield compared to the application of intermediate or highest-salinity water. The application of the lowest-salinity water in the vegetative stage and the intermediate-salinity water in the following stages is an alternative to using good quality water throughout the cycle, despite the decreases of about 7% in growth and 16% in yield. The nutrition of cotton plants irrigated with saline water throughout the cycle or in some growth stages was marked by an increase of up to 86% in the cotton leaf sodium content, a decrease in the leaf potassium content of up to 21% and increases between 24% and 188% in leaf micronutrient content when the highest-salinity water replaced that with the lowest salinity.

Resumo: A distribuição de insetos aquáticos das ordens Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera e Trichoptera (EPT) pode ser influenciada por fatores como qualidade da água, integridade do habitat e biogeografia. O presente estudo avaliou a estrutura das assembleias do EPT em riachos do Cerrado, um hotspot de biodiversidade global. Foram coletadas amostras em 20 riachos em duas áreas protegidas: Parque Estadual do Mirador (10 riachos) e Parque Nacional da Chapada das Mesas (10 riachos). Um total de 1987 espécimes foram coletados, representando 46 táxons de EPT. As duas áreas de estudo não diferiram significativamente na riqueza taxonômica dos gêneros EPT (t= -1,119; p= 0,279) e abundância de indivíduos (t= 0,268; p= 0,791), mas diferiram na composição do gênero (Pseudo-F= 2,088, R2= 0,103; p= 0,015) e variáveis ambientais (Pseudo-F= 2,282; R2= 0,112; p= 0,014). Nenhuma das variáveis ambientais testadas foi correlacionada com a comunidade, mas um filtro espacial capturou um efeito da distribuição espacial dos riachos. A região do estudo está localizada em MATOPIBA, que é a última fronteira agrícola do Cerrado. Portanto, é importante que exista fiscalização e monitoramento para que o “Parque Estadual do Mirador” e o “Parque Nacional da Chapada das Mesas” continuem desempenhando seu papel na conservação da biodiversidade no futuro.

Abstract: The distribution of aquatic insects of the orders Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, and Trichoptera (EPT) can be influenced by factors such as water quality, habitat integrity and biogeography. The present study evaluated the structure of EPT assemblages in streams in the Cerrado, a global biodiversity hotspot. Samples were collected from 20 streams in two protected areas: Parque Estadual do Mirador (10 streams) and Parque Nacional da Chapada das Mesas (10 streams). A total of 1987 specimens were collected, representing 46 taxa of EPT. The two study areas did not differ significantly in taxonomic richness of EPT genera (t = -1.119, p = 0.279) and abundance of individuals (t = 0.268, p = 0.791) but did differ in genus composition (Pseudo-F = 2.088, R2 = 0.103, p = 0.015) and environmental variables (Pseudo-F = 2,282, R2 = 0.112, p = 0.014). None of the tested environmental variables were correlated with the community but a spatial filter captured an effect of the spatial distribution of streams. The region of the study is located in MATOPIBA, which is the last agricultural frontier of the Cerrado. Therefore, it is important that there is police and monitoring so that the “Parque Estadual do Mirador” and the “Parque Nacional da Chapada das Mesas” continue to play their role in conserving biodiversity in the future.

Abstract This study aimed to determine the incidence of mandibular third molar (M3) impaction after orthodontic treatment by edgewise appliances, and identify possible determinant factors of M3 impaction. A retrospective cohort study was conducted with 1154 patients. Complete orthodontic records were analyzed pretreatment and posttreatment, considering the following variables: type of Angle malocclusion, treatment with or without extraction of first premolars, overbite, stage of dentition, M3 prior angulation and duration of orthodontic treatment. Impaction was determined after radiographic evidence of total closure of the root apex. The chi-square test and Poisson regression (p < 0.05) were used for statistical analysis with a hierarchical approach. Rate ratios (RR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated. Mandibular M3 impaction incidence was 17%. Overbite equal to or greater than 4 mm (RR = 1.23, 95%CI: 1.11–1.26, p < 0.001), prior mesial angulation of M3 (RR = 0.59, 95%CI: 0.52–0.68, p < 0.001), non-extraction of first premolars (RR=1.06, 95%CI: 1.01–1.12, P=0.019) and orthodontic treatment time equal to or less than three years (RR = 0.94. 95%CI: 0.90–0.99, p < 0.014) were significantly associated with impacted M3. There was no correlation between the type of Angle malocclusion and the risk of impaction. In conclusion, the incidence of mandibular M3 impaction was considered low. The main pretreatment factors directly involved in impaction were mesioangulation of M3 and overbite equal to or greater than 4 mm. Orthodontic treatment with extraction of first premolars and treatment time greater than 3 years reduce the risk of impaction.

Resumo Espécimes de Oncicola venezuelensis (Marteau, 1997) foram recuperados de fragmentos do tecido intestinal de uma fêmea de Puma concolor (Linn, 1771) encontrada morta em Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, em 2017. Um total de 140 helmintos foram recuperados. Cinco machos e 5 cinco fêmeas dos helmintos foram analisados morfologicamente, bem como 50 ovos dos parasitos recuperados no conteúdo intestinal. Morfologicamente, esses helmintos eram compatíveis com o gênero Oncicola, devido ao tamanho e formato da probóscide, o tamanho e disposição do leminisco e a morfometria dos ovos, que apresentaram membrana externa da casca delicada e clara. A partir da histopatologia, pode-se verificar que os helmintos estavam profundamente inseridos na mucosa, atingindo até a camada muscular. Um espécime também foi identificado molecularmente com primers universais que amplificam a região ITS-1.5.8S.ITS-2. Após as análises moleculares, foi verificado que os helmintos apresentavam 99% de identidade com sequência gênica de O. venezuelensis que está depositada no Genbank. É importante enfatizar, que esse parasito foi muito pouco relatado na literatura, demonstrando a importância deste relato.

Abstract Specimens of Oncicola venezuelensis (Marteau, 1977) were recovered from fragments of intestinal tissue of a female Puma concolar (Linn, 1771) found dead in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro in 2017. A total of 140 helminths were recovered. Five males and 5 females of the helminths were analyzed morphologically as well as 50 parasite eggs recovered in intestinal contents. Morphologically, these helminths were compatible with the genus Oncicola, because of the size and shape of the proboscis, the size and disposition of the lemnisci and the morphometry of the eggs, in which the external membrane of the shell was delicate and clear. From histopathology, the helminths were deeply embeded in the mucosa reaching up to the muscle layer. One specimen was also identified molecularly with universal primers that amplified the eukaryote region ITS1-5.8S-ITS2. The helminth showed 99% identity with the gene sequence of O. venezuelensis deposited in GenBank. It is important to emphasize, this parasite has been very little reported in the literature, which reinforces the importance of this report.

Resumo Treinadores do esporte paralímpico apresentam diferenças na atuação comparados a outros treinadores. Assim, o objetivo do presente estudo foi analisar a trajetória profissional dos treinadores da Delegação Paralímpica Brasileira dos Jogos Rio 2016. Este estudo contou com 35 treinadores (idade: 39,7±9,4 anos, tempo de atuação: 10,7±5,4 anos) que responderam a um questionário estruturado com perguntas fechadas relacionadas à sua trajetória e formação profissional. Em relação à formação acadêmica, 97,1% dos treinadores apresentaram graduação em Educação Física, 65,7% cursaram pós-graduação lato sensu e 22,9% pós-graduação stricto sensu (mestrado) na área. Além disso, 65,7% dos treinadores realizaram alguma disciplina na universidade relacionada ao esporte paralímpico e 85% realizaram cursos de formação complementar. Concluimos que os treinadores tiveram oportunidades de aprendizado formal durante a graduação em Educação Física e em outros cursos de formação após a conclusão do curso, bem como oportunidades informais para construírem sua carreira no esporte paralímpico.

Abstract Paralympic sports coaches work differently from other coaches. This study analyzed the professional trajectory of coaches working with the Brazilian Paralympic Delegation to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. It included 35 coaches (age: 39.7±9.4; working experience: 10.7±5,4 years) who answered a structured questionnaire with closed-ended questions related to their history and professional training. As for academic training, 97.1% held degrees in Physical Education; 65.7% held specialization diplomas; and 22.9% held master’s degrees in the area. In addition, 65.7% of the coaches attended some college-level course on Paralympic sports and 85% attended complementary training courses. We concluded that coaches had formal learning opportunities during their undergraduate training in Physical Education and other courses after that, as well as informal opportunities to build their career in Paralympic sports.

Resumen Los entrenadores del deporte paralímpico presentan diferencias en su actuación en comparación a otros entrenadores. El objetivo del presente estudio fue analizar la trayectoria profesional de los entrenadores de la Delegación Paralímpica Brasileña de los Juegos Río 2016. Este estudio contó con 35 entrenadores (edad: 39,7±9,4 años, tiempo de actuación: 10,7±5,4 años) que respondieron a un cuestionario estructurado con preguntas relacionadas a su trayectoria y formación profesional. En lo referente a formación académica, el 97,1% de los entrenadores eran graduados en Educación Física, 65,7% cursó postgrado lato sensu y 22,9% posgrado strito sensu en el área. Además, 65,7% de los entrenadores realizaron alguna disciplina en la universidad relacionada deporte paralímpico y el 85% realizaron cursos de formación complementaria. Concluimos que los entrenadores tuvieron oportunidades de aprendizaje formal durante su graduación en Educación Física y en otros cursos de formación después de la conclusión del curso, así como oportunidades informales para construir su carrera en el deporte paralímpico.

Abstract Fishes from the coastal basins of the Mid-Northeastern Caatinga ecoregion (MNCE) were first sampled by the Stanford expedition at the beginning of the 20th century, and published by Edwin C. Starks in 1913. This material included specimens from the Papary lake (= Papari lagoon) in the lower portion of the Trairí river basin, draining towards the eastern coast of Rio Grande do Norte State. In 1941, Henry Fowler provided a broad taxonomic study of the freshwater fishes from northeastern Brazil, including material from the Papari lagoon, besides describing four species assigned to this locality. However, these previous surveys focused only in the lower portion of the Trairí river basin and might be incomplete. Given this framework, the present study aimed at perform a wide ichthyofaunal inventory of Trairí river basin and compare with previously surveys performed in the regions. In 2013 and 2014, four expeditions along the whole basin, including the Papari lagoon itself, resulted in 28 species of fishes belonging to 17 families and seven orders. At Papari lagoon area 16 species were registered whereas 26 and 18 species were recorded by Starks and Fowler’s studies, respectively. Considering all records, 50 species were documented in the basin with 14 (28%) new records, including Serrapinnus potiguar, whose distribution was extended to the south. Two species described by Fowler, Pimelodella papariae and Pseudancistrus papariae, were not found in this study or in any fish collection, and are only known from their type-material. These two species can be naturally rare, locally extinct, or there were inaccuracies in their type-locality. However, species of these genera are only found in larger basins of the MNCE, which drains to the north, corroborating the latter assumption. Although not being a definitive list, the recent extensive fish surveys conducted in the MNCE’s coastal basins are helping to elucidate species’ geographic distribution and little knowing taxonomic issues.

Resumo Objetivo: Analisar divulgações de uma mídia televisiva brasileira acerca dos erros de medicação na enfermagem. Método: Pesquisa documental pautada em reportagens audiovisuais divulgadas até dezembro/2016, pelo portal G1, submetidas à categorização do tipo de erro e Análise de Conteúdo Temática de Bardin. Resultados: Foram analisados 14 casos de erro de medicação, que totalizaram 25 reportagens. A maioria ocorreu no hospital (n=12); vitimando crianças (n=7) e idosos (n=6); com desfecho fatal (n=10). Na análise qualitativa, emergiram duas categorias temáticas: (1) Identificação do erro de medicação e Reação dos (supostos) envolvidos e (2) Reações, sentimentos e condutas frente ao erro de medicação. Conclusão e implicações para a prática: As notícias reportadas demonstram aparente culpabilização de indivíduos e não contemplam os mecanismos e processos falhos que possam ter desencadeado o erro. É preciso associar o gerenciamento de risco às discussões acadêmicas e profissionais, com maior consciência pública sobre a segurança dos pacientes.

Abstract Objective: To analyze the disclosures of a Brazilian television medium about medication errors in nursing. Methods: Documental research based on audiovisual news stories broadcast until December 2016, on the G1 portal and submitted to error type categorization and Bardin's Thematic Content Analysis. Results: A total of 14 cases of medication error were analyzed, including 25 news stories. The majority of them occurred in hospitals (n = 12); including children (n = 7) and older adults (n = 6); and leading to death (n = 10). In the qualitative analysis, two thematic categories emerged: (1) Identification of medication errors and Reaction of those (allegedly) involved and (2) Reactions, feelings and attitudes towards medication errors. Conclusion and implications for practice: The news stories show the apparent culpability of individuals and do not address the mechanisms and flawed processes that may have triggered errors. Risk management must be associated with academic and professional discussions, with greater public awareness of patient safety.

Resultados: Se analizaron 14 casos de errores de medicación, totalizando 25 reportajes. La mayoría ocurrió en el hospital (n=12); con niños (n=7) y personas mayores (n=6); con desenlace fatal (n=10). En el análisis cualitativo, emergieron dos temas: Identificación del error de medicación y reacción de los (supuestos) involucrados; y Reacciones, sentimientos y conductas frente al error. Conclusión e implicaciones para la práctica: Las noticias reportadas demuestran aparente culpabilización de individuos y no contemplan los mecanismos y procesos fallidos que puedan haber desencadenado el error. Es necesario asociar la gestión de riesgo a las discusiones académicas y profesionales, con mayor conciencia pública sobre la seguridad del paciente.
