RESUMO Objetivou-se, com este trabalho, avaliar a quantidade de fibra na dieta que é capaz de promover melhor uso de nutrientes na dieta de cabras leiteiras quando a palma forrageira é a principal fonte de forragem. Quinze cabras leiteiras alpinas foram distribuídas em um quadrado latino triplo 5 × 5 contendo cinco tratamentos e cinco períodos. Testaram-se cinco dietas compostas por diferentes teores de fibra em detergente neutro de feno de tifton (FDNf) na matéria seca de rações contendo palma forrageira: D1: 11,98%; D2: 18,31%; D3: 23,68%; D4: 28,76% e D5: 32,12% de FDNf. A ingestão de matéria seca, proteína bruta, fibra em detergente neutro, carboidratos não fibrosos e extrato etéreo diminuiu linearmente com o aumento do conteúdo de FDNf. Houve um aumento linear da produção de leite e da proteína do leite com o aumento da FDNf dietética. A gordura, a lactose, o extrato seco, o pH e a acidez do leite não foram afetados pelo aumento dos níveis de FDNf na dieta. Em situações em que as cabras leiteiras são alimentadas com palma forrageira e outros tipos de forragem são limitados, 11,98% de FDN de forragem diferente da palma podem ser usados como fonte efetiva de fibra.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the amount of fiber in the diet that is able to promote better use of nutrients in the diet of dairy goats when forage palm is the main source of roughage. Fifteen Alpine dairy goats were distributed in a 5 × 5 triple Latin square containing five treatments and five periods, and each treatment contained. We tested five diets composed of different contents of neutral detergent fiber from Tifton hay (NDFf) in the dry matter of rations containing forage palm: D1: 11.98%; D2: 18.31%; D3: 23.68%; D4: 28.76% and D5: 32.12% NDFf. The intake of dry matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber, non-fiber carbohydrates and ether extract decreased linearly with the increase in NDFf content. There was a linear increase of milk production and milk protein with increasing dietary NDFf. The fat, dry extract, protein, pH and acidity of the evaluated milk were not affected by increasing the levels of NDFf in the diet. In situations where dairy goats are fed forage palm and other types of forage are limited, 11.98% NDF from forage other than palm can be used as an effective source of NDF.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar os efeitos do fornecimento de diferentes níveis de glicerina na alimentação sobre a qualidade da carne de suínos em terminação. Foram utilizados 30 machos castrados e 30 fêmeas que apresentaram peso inicial de 79,3±4,0kg. Utilizou-se delineamento em blocos casualizados (peso inicial) em esquema fatorial 2 × 4 + 2, sendo duas categorias sexuais (macho castrado e fêmea), quatro níveis de glicerina bruta (50, 100, 150 e 200g/kg) e dois grupos controle (macho castrado e fêmea alimentados com dieta sem glicerina), totalizando dez tratamentos com seis repetições e a unidade experimental representada por um animal. Após o abate, foram realizadas as análises físico-químicas e centesimais dos músculos Longissimus dorsi (lombo) e Semimembranosus (pernil) do lado esquerdo das carcaças. Os resultados mostraram interação entre os níveis de glicerina e sexo para a intensidade de vermelho e cinzas no pernil. Observou-se que, nos corte do lombo, o pH final dos machos castrados foi maior do que o das fêmeas suínas. Os resultados indicaram que suínos machos castrados apresentaram maior teor de extrato etéreo no pernil e no lombo quando comparados às fêmeas. No pernil, o teor de cinzas das fêmeas suínas foi superior ao dos machos castrados. Entretanto, no lombo, não se verificou influência dos níveis de glicerina sobre a composição centesimal. Contudo, apesar de o uso da glicerina ter ocasionado modificação na cor vermelha e teor de cinzas no pernil de machos castrados, de forma geral não provocou mudanças relevantes sobre as características físico-químicas e centesimais da carne de suínos, podendo ser utilizada até o nível de 200g/kg na alimentação desses animais.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of providing different levels of glycerin in the diet on meat quality of finishing pigs. 30 barrow and 30 female pigs were used, with initial weight of 79.3±4.0kg. A randomized block design was used (initial weight) in a factorial 2 x 4 + 2, being two sex categories (barrow and female), four levels of crude glycerin (50, 100, 150 and 200g/kg) and two control groups (barrow and female fed diet without glycerin), in a total of ten treatments with six replications and the experimental unit represented by an animal. After slaughter were carried out the physico-chemical and centesimal analysis of Longissimus dorsi (loin) and Semimembranosus (ham) on the left side of the carcasses. The results showed interaction between barrows and levels of glycerin to the redness and ash of the ham. It was observed that in the loin cut the final pH of the barrows was higher than the female pigs. The results indicate that barrows had higher ether extract content in the ham and loin compared to females. In the shank, the ash content of sows was higher than that of barrows. However, in the loin, there was no influence of the levels of glycerin on chemical composition. Nevertheless, despite the use of glycerin having caused changes in the red color and ash content in the leg of castrated males, in general it did not cause significant changes on the physico-chemical and centesimal characteristics of pork and can be used up to the level of 200g/kg in the feed of these animals.

Neste trabalho, nós provamos a propriedade de decaimento exponencial da energia numérica associada a um particular esquema numérico em diferenças finitas aplicado a um sistema acoplado de equações de difusão. Ao nível da dinâmica do contínuo, é bem conhecido que a energia do sistema é decrescente e exponencialmente estável. Aqui nós apresentamos em detalhes a análise numérica de decaimento exponencial da energia numérica desde que obedecido o critério de estabilidade.

In this paper we proved the exponential decay of the energy of a numerical scheme in finite difference applied to a coupled system of diffusion equations. At the continuous level, it is well-known that the energy is decreasing and stable in the exponential sense. We present in detail the numerical analysis of exponential decay to numerical energy since holds the stability criterion.

A indústria metalúrgica tem buscado empregar processos de fusão mais eficientes. Os fornos rotativos a gás natural e óleo de xisto surgem como uma alternativa interessante para a produção de ligas ferrosas. Durante a fusão no forno rotativo acontece uma maior queima de elementos químicos, exigindo a utilização de técnicas de carburação adequadas. No presente trabalho foram avaliadas diferentes formas de adição de carburantes durante a fusão de ferros fundidos cinzentos e nodulares, utilizando fornos rotativos a óleo de xisto e gás natural. Dois tipos de carburantes, com diferentes granulometrias, foram adicionados em diferentes estágios do processo de fusão. Os resultados mostram que o rendimento de carburação é fortemente afetado pelo estado da carga metálica. O melhor rendimento foi obtido pelo carburante de coque de petróleo calcinado com granulometria de 1-3 mm, por meio da adição à carga no estado pastoso.

Metallurgic industry has sought for more efficient casting processes. Fuel oil and gas-fired rotary furnaces rise as an interesting alternative for cast irons production. It must be emphasized that during the fusion process in rotary furnaces, a higher burning of alloying elements occur, demanding the use of a suitable carbonizing technique in order to attend the chemical composition specifications. The present work aimed in the application and study of different carbonizing techniques during the production of gray and ductile cast irons using fuel oil and gas-fired rotary furnaces. Two carburant types with different particle sizes were added in different stages of fusion process. Results show that carbonizing efficiency is strongly affected by the state of the metallic charge. The best results were obtained by the calcined petroleum coke with a particle size of 1-3 mm, added to the pasty metal loading.

O disco compacto (CD) e o disco de vídeo digital (DVD) são artefatos obtidos de um polímero termoplástico, o policarbonato, metalizado. Tais discos são produzidos e comercializados em milhões de unidades no mundo todo, e, desde o seu processamento até o uso pelo consumidor final, é estimado que aproximadamente 10% da produção de CD e DVD é descartada. O policarbonato pode ser separado das demais camadas destes discos, por vários métodos, recuperado e re-utilizado. Porém, na maioria das vezes, sua destinação são os lixões das grandes cidades, contribuindo para o agravamento da poluição ambiental. Este trabalho teve como objetivo estudar as propriedades mecânicas do policarbonato reciclado de CD e DVD através do método de abrasão mecânica, visando tornar viável o uso cotidiano deste material, sendo capaz de substituir polímeros de uso comum, como o poliestireno (PS), ou ser utilizado juntamente com o PC virgem em determinadas aplicações. Corpos de prova de PS e das misturas de PC-virgem/PC-reciclado (nas proporções de 100/0, 70/30, 50/50, 30/70 e 0/100 em %m/m) foram obtidos através de moldagem por injeção para a realização de ensaios de resistência à tração e ao impacto Izod além de dureza Shore. Foi observado que em até 70% de PC reciclado adicionado às blendas, houve diminuição da resistência ao impacto e da deformação enquanto a resistência à tração e a dureza superficial foram mantidas, em relação ao PC virgem. Verificou-se também que o PC reciclado conseguiu atingir 79,2% da tensão máxima de tração e 60,8% da resistência ao impacto do PC virgem. Quando comparado ao PS, o PC reciclado apresentou bom desempenho mecânico, sendo ambos similares quanto à resistência à tração, à deformação e à dureza, porém melhor resistência ao impacto.

The compact disc (CD) and digital video disc (DVD) are goods obtained from a thermoplastic polymer, the polycarbonate, metallized. Such discs are produced and commercialized in millions of units all over the world, and since their processing until their use by the final consumer, it is estimated that approximately that 10% of the production of CD and DVD is discarded. The polycarbonate can be separated from the other layers of these discs, through several methods, recovered and re-used, but in most of times, its destination is the landfill in the big cities, contributing to the increase of the environmental pollution. This work had as objective to study the mechanical properties of recycled polycarbonate from CD and DVD through the mechanical abrasion method, in order to make feasible its daily use, being able to substitute commodity polymers, as polystyrene (PS), or being used with the virgin PC in some applications. Specimens of PS and blends of virgin-PC/recycled-PC (in the ratios of 100/0, 70/30, 50/50, 30/70 and 0/100 in %w/w) were obtained by injection moulding for tests of tensile strength, Izod impact strength besides Shore hardness. It was observed that with the addition of up to 70% of recycled PC in the blends, there was a decrease of both the impact strength and the elongation while the tensile strength and surface hardness were unchangeable, with respect to the virgin PC. It was also noticed that the recycled PC could reach 79.2% of the maximum tensile strength and 60.8% of the impact strength of the virgin PC. When compared to PS, the recycled PC showed good mechanical performance, being similar in tensile strength, elongation and hardness but presenting better impact strength.
