RESUMO A produção de amendoim tem crescido anualmente no Brasil. Com as secas que ocorrem frequentemente em todas as regiões brasileiras, é necessário identificar germoplasma precoce para ser utilizado em trabalhos de melhoramento visando à adaptação ambiental. Aqui, uma mini coleção de amendoim foi estudada com o objetivo de selecionar germoplasma para uso posterior em procedimentos de melhoramento, com foco em ambiente com restrição hídrica. Doze características agronômicas foram adotadas e posteriormente utilizadas em métodos multivariados, baseados em modelos hierárquicos (UPGMA) e dispersão gráfica (variáveis canônicas), visando identificar agrupamentos de acessos precoces. Diferenças estatísticas significativas foram encontradas para a maioria das variáveis, indicando variabilidade genética nos acessos estudados. Com base nas análises multivariadas, verificou-se coerência na formação de três agrupamentos, um deles (G3: PI-268-689 e AHK-85-3) aglomerou os acessos mais promissores para produção de vagens e eficiência reprodutiva, previamente identificados na análise de variância. Portanto, ambos germoplasma são recomendados para uso em trabalhos de melhoramento voltados para o ambiente com restrição hídrica.

ABSTRACT Peanut production is growing annually in Brazil, but with frequent droughts throughout the country, it is necessary to identify an earliness germplasm for the improved environmental adaptation of peanuts. Here, a mini-core collection of peanuts was studied to select germplasms for further use in breeding, with a focus on dry environments. Twelve agronomic traits were adopted and later used in multivariate methods based on hierarchical models (UPGMA) and graphical dispersion (canonical variables), which aimed to identify earliness accession clusters. Statistically significant differences were found for most traits, indicating that there was genetic variability among accessions. Multivariate analyses subsequently revealed coherence in the formation of three clusters, one of which (G3: PI-268-689 and AHK-85-3) combined the most promising accessions for pod production and reproductive efficiency, previously identified through analysis of variance. Therefore, both germplasms are recommended here for use in future breeding studies focused on water-restricted environments.

ABSTRACT Background: Prognostic factors in previously healthy young patients with COVID-19 remained understudied. Objective: The objective of the study was to identify factors associated with in-hospital death or need for invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) in young (aged ≤ 65 years) and previously healthy patients with COVID-19. Methods: We conducted a prospective cohort study that included patients admitted with COVID-19. The primary outcome was in-hospital death/need for IMV. Secondary outcomes included need for IMV during follow-up, days on IMV, length of stay (LOS), hospital-acquired pneumonia/ventilator-associated pneumonia (HAP/VAP), and pulmonary embolism (PE). Bivariate and multivariate analyses were performed. Results: Among 92 patients, primary outcome occurred in 16 (17%), death in 12 (13%), need for IMV in 16 (17%), HAP/VAP in 7 (8%), and PE in 2 (2%). Median LOS and IMV duration were 7 and 12 days, respectively. Independent associations were found between the primary outcome and male sex (Adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 7.1, 95%CI 1.1-46.0, p < 0.05), D-dimer levels > 1000ng/mL (aOR 9.0, 95%CI 1.6-49.1, p < 0.05), and RT-PCR Ct-value ≤ 24 on initial swab samples (aOR 14.3, 95%CI 2.0-101.5, p < 0.01). Conclusions: In young and non-comorbid COVID-19 patients, male sex, higher levels of D-dimer, and low SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR Ct-value on an initial nasopharyngeal swab were independently associated with increased in-hospital mortality or need for IMV.

RESUMO O aumento da eficiência de secadores solares com garantia de que o sistema permaneça acessível a todos os usuários pode ser alcançado com sua automação por meio de sensores de baixo custo e fácil utilização. Objetivou-se desenvolver, implantar e avaliar um sistema automático de monitoramento dos parâmetros de secagem em secador híbrido solar-elétrico (SHSE). Inicialmente, foi desenvolvido e instalado o sistema automático de aquisição de dados para a coleta dos parâmetros de massa da amostra e temperatura do ar e umidade relativa do ar de secagem. O sistema automatizado foi validado comparando-o com aparelhos convencionais de medição dos parâmetros em estudo. Os dados obtidos foram submetidos à análise de variância, teste de Tukey e regressão linear a p ≤ 0,05. O sistema ligar/desligar do exaustor funcionou de forma eficiente, reduzindo os erros relacionados à medição da massa. O GERAR Mobile App mostrou-se fácil de ser usado por possuir ícones intuitivos e compatibilidade com os sistemas operacionais mais utilizados para dispositivos móveis. As respostas na comunicação via Bluetooth foram rápidas. A utilização do Arduino, um microcontrolador de baixo custo, para automatizar a atividade de monitoramento permitiu estimar a massa do produto e coletar os dados de temperatura do ar de secagem e umidade relativa do ar por meio do DHT22. Este sensor mostrou boa correlação de leituras de massa e temperatura do ar entre o sistema automático e convencional, mas baixa correlação para umidade relativa do ar. Em geral, o sistema de aquisição de dados monitorou em tempo real os parâmetros para secagem de produtos agrícolas no SHSE.

ABSTRACT Increasing the efficiency of solar dryers with ensuring that the system remains accessible to all users can be achieved with their automation through low-cost and easy-to-use technique sensors. The objective was to develop, implement and evaluate an automatic system for monitoring drying parameters in a hybrid solar-electric dryer (HSED). Initially, an automated data acquisition system for collecting the parameters of sample mass, air temperature, and relative air humidity was developed and installed. The automatic mass data acquisition system was calibrated in the hybrid solar-electric dryer. The automated system was validated by comparing it with conventional devices for measuring the parameters under study. The data obtained were subjected to analysis of variance, Tukey test and linear regression at p ≤ 0.05. The system to turn on/off the exhaust worked efficiently, helping to reduce the errors related to the mass measurement. The GERAR Mobile App showed easy to be used since it has intuitive icons and compatibility with the most used operating systems for mobile devices. The responses in communication via Bluetooth were fast. The use of Arduino, a low-cost microcontroller, to automate the monitoring activity allowed estimating the mass of the product and collecting the drying air temperature and relative air humidity data through the DHT22. This sensor showed a good correlation of mass and air temperature readings between the automatic and conventional system, but low correlation for relative air humidity. In general, the automatic data acquisition system monitored in real time the parameters for drying agricultural products in the HSED.

RESUMO Dois métodos multivariados foram adotados para classificar genótipos de algodoeiro tolerantes ao sal com base no crescimento e nas características fisiológicas. Os genótipos foram cultivados em casa de vegetação e submetidos a 45 dias de irrigação com água salina, a partir da fase V4. A irrigação foi feita com água salina com CEa de 6,0 dS m-1. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados com fatorial, sendo nove cultivares, dois tratamentos (controle: 0,6 e 6,0 dS m-1) e quatro repetições. As plantas foram avaliadas quanto a variáveis de crescimento e fisiológicas. Os dados foram analisados estatisticamente por meio de analises univariada e multivariada. Nesse último, os modelos não hierárquicos (componentes principais, CP) e hierárquico (UPGMA) foram usados para classificação das cultivares. Diferenças significativas foram encontradas entre as cultivares com base nas análises univariadas. As variáveis que diferiram estatisticamente foram usadas para as análises multivariadas. Quatro grupos foram identificados com a mesma composição nos métodos PC e UPGMA. Entre eles, um conteve as cultivares BRS Seridó, BRS 286, FMT 705 e BRS Rubi, que se mostraram tolerantes ao estresse salino imposto as plantas. Os dados de fotossíntese, transpiração e condutância estomática foram os mais contributivos para classificação das cultivares, pelo método das componentes principais.

ABSTRACT Two multivariate methods were adopted to classify salt-tolerant cotton genotypes based on their growth and physiological traits. The genotypes were cultivated in a greenhouse and subjected to 45 days of irrigation with saline water from the V4 phase onwards. Irrigation was performed with saline water with electrical conductivity (ECw) of 6.0 dS m-1. A factorial-randomized block design was adopted with nine cultivars, two treatments of ECw (0.6 as the control, and 6.0 dS m-1), and four replicates. Plants were evaluated for growth, gas exchange, and photosynthesis. The data were statistically analyzed using univariate and multivariate methods. For the latter, non-hierarchical (principal component, PC) and hierarchical (UPGMA) models were used for the classification of cultivars. Significant differences were found between cultivars based on univariate analyses, and the traits that differed statistically were used for multivariate analyses. Four groups were identified with the same composition in both the PC and UPGMA methods. Among them, one contained the cultivars BRS Seridó, BRS 286, FMT 705, and BRS Rubi, which were tolerant to salt stress imposed on the plants. Photosynthesis, transpiration, and stomatal conductance data were the main contributors to the classification of cultivars using the principal component method.

Abstract The continental margin off the southeastern Brazilian coast is punctuated by a series of geological-geomorphological features, such as subsurface saline diapirs and pockmarks at the seafloor interface, which evidence the abundant presence of oil and gas in the region. In several of these sites, hydrocarbons can be naturally released into the water column, areas are cold seep areas. These are marked by the presence of oil- and gas-dependent ecosystems, where specific organisms are able to fix carbon from hydrocarbon chemosynthesis. In addition, light hydrocarbon fluid flow through the sediment may build up authigenic carbonates that can be further colonized by cold-water corals, generating large carbonate mounds over geological time, normally positioned at the border of these pockmark features. The present work reports on a multidisciplinary oceanographic cruise carried out in the Santos Basin, SW Atlantic, to seek, map, and collect geological, chemical, and biological data from different deep-sea habitats. The cruise occurred in November 2019 on the R/V Alpha Crucis of the Oceanographic Institute of the University of São Paulo (IOUSP). We intended to discover and detail different geomorphological features, characterize free-living and symbiotic microorganisms, determine the chemosynthetic rates in relation to heterotrophic microbial production, and characterize the fauna and study their ecological and evolutionary links within and across ocean basins. All discoveries made during the cruise and their respective results will be presented separately in several papers that comprise this special volume.

Abstract: Skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in humans, it covers about one third of all neoplasms. Within skin cancer we find basal cell carcinoma (BCC), this being the most frequent type of cancer worldwide. Solutions with convolutional neural networks generally use the Softmax layer (classic model) to perform a BCC classification, however, in other similar fields such as image classification of microscopic bacteria they have replaced this Softmax layer with a support vector machine (SVM) achieving a better result. Given this, we propose a hybrid model of convolutional neural network and a support vector machine (CNN+SVM) to classify the BCC. Our model is composed of 4 convolution blocks with 32, 64 and 128 filters to carry out the extraction of characteristics and then pass it to the classifier, to which the L1-SVM loss function is implemented. The average results obtained for the CNN+SVM hybrid model were measured with the precision, accuracy, recall and F1-score metrics, obtaining 96.200%, 96.200%, 96.205% and 96.200% respectively compared to the classical model for the metrics of precision, accuracy, recall and F1-score where 95.661%, 95.673%, 95.661%, 95.660% respectively were obtained. The results show that the hybrid model achieves better results than the classic model to classify the BCC.

Resumo O uso de mais de uma técnica de controle pode maximizar a redução dos danos causados pelo fungo Asperisporium caricae agente causal da pinta preta na cultura do mamoeiro. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a sensibilidade dos fungos Hansfordia pulvinata e Acremonium spp. a produtos alternativos com potencial para uso no controle da pinta-preta. Três isolados de Acremonium spp. (A-598, A-602 e A-617) e um isolado de H. pulvinata (H-611) foram cultivados em meio BDA contendo Agro-Mos®, Bion®, Ecolife®, Hortifospk®, Matriz G®, Vitaphol® separadamente. Fungicida Amistar 500WG® foi utilizado como controle positivo e BDA puro, como controle negativo. A toxicidade dos produtos testados foi determinada com base nos valores do índice biológico, provenientes das médias do crescimento micelial, esporulação e germinação de conídios, em cada unidade experimental. Dessa forma foi possível selecionar os produtos classificados como compatíveis para todos os isolados, e testá-los in vivo. Em casa de vegetação, somente os isolados e os isolados com produtos selecionados, foram aplicados em plantas de mamoeiro com sintomas foliares de pinta-preta. Avaliaram-se a incidência de folhas com hiperparasitas e a porcentagem de lesões de pinta-preta colonizadas pelos isolados testados. Assim o isolado H-611 mostrou-se compatível com a maioria dos produtos alternativos testados, exceto com Hortifos®. Os produtos Bion® e Matriz® apresentaram compatibilidade com todos os isolados testados, podendo ser utilizados em conjunto com o Acremonium spp. e H. pulvinata para controlar a pinta-preta do mamoeiro, uma vez que estes produtos não apresentaram toxidade sobre os fungos hiperparasitas.

Abstract The use of more than one control technique can maximize the reduction of the damages caused by the fungus Asperisporium caricae causal agent of the black spot in the papaya crop. The objective of this work was to evaluate the sensitivity of the fungi Hansfordia pulvinata and Acremonium spp. to alternative products with potential for use in the control of the black-spotted ptarmigan. Three isolates of Acremonium spp. (A-598, A-602 and A-617) and an isolate of H. pulvinata (H-611) were grown in BDA medium containing Agro-Mos®, Bion®, Ecolife®, Hortifospk®, Matriz G®, Vitaphol® separately. The Amistar 500WG ® fungicide was used as a positive control and pure BDA as a negative control. The toxicity of the tested products was determined based on the values of the biological index, derived from the means of mycelial growth, sporulation and germination of conidia, in each experimental unit. In this way it was possible to select the products classified as compatible for all isolates, and to test them in vivo. In the greenhouse, only the isolates and isolates with selected products, were applied in papaya plants with foliar symptoms of black-spotted. The incidence of leaves with hyperparasites and the percentage of black-painted lesions colonized by the tested isolates were evaluated. Thus, the H-611 isolate proved to be compatible with most of the alternative products tested, except with Hortifos®. Bion® and Matrix® products were compatible with all tested isolates and could be used in conjunction with Acremonium spp. and H. pulvinata to control the papaya black spot, since these products did not present toxicity on the hyperparasitic fungi.

The use of agricultural residues for the production of bio-oil is an important alternative to the use of fossil fuels. In this study, the Caupi bean pod (Vigna unguiculata) was characterized and used as biomass in the production of bio-oil. This biomass was evaluated in terms of physicochemical, morphological (scanning electron microscopy (SEM)), and thermal (thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)) characterization, lignocellulosic composition, and pyrolysis processes. The pyrolysis was carried out in a stainless steel fixed-bed reactor (260 mm in length and 60 mm in diameter) under atmospheric nitrogen pressure. Pyrolysis was conducted at 550, 600, and 700 °C and N2 gas flow of 2, 5, and 7 mL min-1. The chemical composition of the bio-oils was studied through CHN, TGA, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results confirmed the bean pod’s potential in the thermochemical process. The thermogravimetric analyses demonstrate that there can be a relationship between the components of the principal biomass (cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin) and the compounds present in the bio-oil. The obtained bio-oils represent bio-products that are rich in compounds of several chemical classes with relevant commercial value such as acids (palmitic, linoleic, oleic, and stearic), alcohols (ethylene glycol), sugars (levoglucosan), and phenols (guaiacol, catechol, phenol, and pyrocatechol).

Abstract Personnel involved in the surgical area are affected with musculoskeletal injuries due to accumulated repetitive stress and movements. The severity of the injuries is given according to the work postures, the surgical specialty and the arrangement of the elements in the operating room. Ergonomics has become relevant since it has made very important contributions to working conditions in different areas. Although in the literature investigations of the frequency and effects of occupational injuries on surgical staff can be found, few studies have proposed guidelines for the ergonomic design of operating rooms. The present study encompasses four ergonomic criteria that should be considered for the design of operating rooms.

Resumen El personal involucrado en el área quirúrgica se ve afectado con lesiones musculoesqueléticas por esfuerzos y movimientos repetitivos acumulados. La gravedad de sus lesiones está dada en función de las posturas de trabajo, la especialidad quirúrgica y la disposición de los elementos con los que interactúa. La ergonomía ha tomado relevancia ya que ha hecho aportes muy importantes para las condiciones de trabajo en diferentes áreas. Aun cuando en la literatura se pueden encontrar diversas investigaciones de la frecuencia y los efectos de las lesiones ocupacionales en el personal del área quirúrgica, escasos estudios han propuesto pautas para el diseño ergonómico de quirófanos. Abstract: The effect of adding fodder tree species (Leucaena leucocephala y Brosimum alicastrum), in maize silage quality (Zea mays) was evaluated. The fodder trees were included at 15, 30 and 45 %, the corn silage alone was considered as control. Laboratory microsilos (1.8 L) were used, and opened on day 60, to determine chemical composition and fermentation characteristics. Average chemical composition was 7.7 ± 2.2, 53.7 ± 1.2 and 36.4 ± 3.1 for CP, NDF and ADF, significant differences (p<0.05) were found for CP and ADF, by the effect of the fodder tree addition level. Fermentative characteristics were 3.9 ± 0.3, 4.0 ± 1.0 and 10.4 ± 2.9, for pH, LA and N-NH3/TN, respectively, significant differences (p<0.05) in pH and LA by the effect of the fodder tree addition level were found, and in the content of N-NH3/TN by the effect of the fodder tree species and the addition percentage. Mixed silage (grass + fodder tree) could be an option to increase nutrient content in ruminant diets in the tropic.

Resumen: Se evaluó el efecto de incluir dos especies arbóreas (Leucaena leucocephala y Brosimum alicastrum), en la calidad del ensilaje de maíz (Zea mays). Las arbóreas se incluyeron al 15, 30 y 45 %, el ensilaje solo de maíz se consideró como testigo. Se emplearon microsilos de laboratorio (1.8 L), los cuales se abrieron a los 60 días, para determinar la composición química y las características fermentativas. La composición química promedio fue de 7.7 ± 2.2, 53.7 ± 1.2 y 36.4 ± 3.1 para CP, NDF y ADF respectivamente, y se encontraron diferencias significativas (p<0.05) para CP y ADF, por efecto del porcentaje de incusión de la arbórea. Las características fermentativas promedio fueron 3.9 ± 0.3, 4.0 ± 1.0 y 10.4 ± 2.9, para pH, LA y N-NH3/TN respectivamente, se encontraron diferencias significativas (p<0.05) en pH y LA por efecto del porcentaje de inclusión, y en el contenido de N-NH3/TN por efecto de la especie arbórea y el porcentaje de inclusión. Los ensilajes mixtos (gramíneas + arbóreas) pueden representar una opción, para incrementar el aporte de nutrientes en dietas de rumiantes en el trópico.

Abstract There is scarce study on factors affecting the quality of roselle calyxes (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) during harvest and post-harvest management. In addition, the transition from flowering to fructification is gradual in this crop, causing calyxes of the first flowerings to be exposed to damages by biotic and abiotic factors. The objective of this work was to evaluate yield and quality of the calyxes of three varieties of roselle (UAN8, UAN6 and China) depending on unique harvest and continuous harvest. The following variables were evaluated: number of calyxes; calyx length; calyx fresh weight; calyx dry weight; pH; titratable acidity; total soluble solids; total coliforms; aerobic mesophilic bacteria; molds and yeasts. The analyzed harvest methods did not generate significant differences in yield variables. Of the three evaluated varieties, UAN8 showed the best calyxes yield. In continuous harvest, the calyxes had more acidic pH values, but a greater total soluble solids content. There was higher contamination of total coliforms and molds in the unique harvest, at the end of the cycle.

Resumen Son escasos los estudios que abordan los factores que inciden en la calidad de los cálices de jamaica (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) durante la cosecha y el manejo poscosecha. Además, en este cultivo la transición de la floración a la fructificación es gradual, lo que origina que los cálices de las primeras floraciones queden expuestos a daños por factores bióticos y abióticos. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar el rendimiento y la calidad de los cálices de tres variedades de jamaica (UAN8, UAN6 y China) en función de la cosecha única y la cosecha en cortes continuos. Las variables evaluadas fueron: número de cálices, longitud de cálices, peso fresco de cálices, peso seco de cálices, pH, acidez titulable, sólidos solubles totales, coliformes totales, mesófilos aerobios, mohos y levaduras. Los métodos de cosecha analizados no generaron diferencias significativas en las variables de rendimiento. De las tres variedades evaluadas, la UAN8 obtuvo el mejor rendimiento de cálices. En la cosecha continua, los cálices tuvieron valores de pH más ácidos, pero contenidos mayores de sólidos solubles totales. Hubo mayor contaminación de coliformes totales y mohos en la cosecha única, al final del ciclo.

RESUMO. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo estudar a eficácia da aplicação do Sistema de Triagem de Manchester para melhorar o fluxo de pacientes em um hospital brasileiro possibilitando obter um serviço mais acolhedor e decisivo. Desta forma, técnicas de análise de sobrevivência são aplicadas com base em modelos de regressão paramétricos cujo objetivo é investigar indicadores para o setor de emergência/urgência e, assim, contribuir para uma melhor eficiência operacional. Os resultados mostram que diferentes variáveis explicativas, tais como, classificação, idade, período, entre outras, influenciam no tempo de atendimento. Por fim, este trabalho possibilitou o desenvolvimento de um modelo simples que pode ser utilizado para prever o tempo de atendimento considerando diferentes variáveis explicativas para um hospital brasileiro em particular.

ABSTRACT. The present work intends to study the effectiveness of applying the Manchester Triage System to improve patient flow in a Brazilian hospital, which allows a more welcoming and decisive service. Thus, time to event techniques is applied based on parametric regression models with the objective of investigating indicators for the emergency/urgency sector and thus, contributing to better operational efficiency. The results show that different explanatory variables such as classification, age, period, among others, influence the time of attendance. In the end, we provide a simple model that can be used to predict such time under different explanatory variables for a particular Brazilian hospital.

RESUMO O estado do Pará é o maior produtor regional de feijão caupi, mas a produtividade alcançada ainda fica abaixo de outros estados da região Norte como Amazonas e Tocantins, devido ao manejo adotado e ao regime hídrico durante a safra, uma vez que seu cultivo é realizado em regime de sequeiro. Objetivou-se neste trabalho avaliar como a deficiência hídrica imposta durante a fase reprodutiva interfere na produtividade e na eficiência do uso da água pelo feijão-caupi nas condições climáticas de Castanhal, Pará, para fins de planejamento agrícola. O experimento foi realizado no município de Castanhal, região nordeste do estado do Pará durante o período menos chuvoso dos anos 2014, 2015 e de 2016. Adotou-se o delineamento experimental em blocos ao acaso com 6 blocos e quatro tratamentos, correspondentes a diferentes lâminas de irrigação na fase reprodutiva, definidas como 100, 50, 25 e 0% da evapotranspiração da cultura. A eficiência do uso da água (EUA) foi determinada pela razão entre a produtividade de grãos e a lâmina total de água utilizada em cada tratamento. A máxima disponibilidade hídrica proporcionou aumento médio na produtividade de 58% comparado ao tratamento sem irrigação. Lâminas de água menores que 260 mm limitaram a produtividade a valores abaixo de 1.000 kg ha-1. A cultivar adotada apresentou eficiência no uso da água de 4,63 kg ha-1 mm-1, para as maiores ofertas hídricas, mas apresentou EUA de 4,31 kg ha-1 mm-1 com a lâmina de 50% da demanda hídrica.

ABSTRACT The state of Pará is the main regional producer of cowpea, but its yield is still low compared to other states of the Northern region such as Amazonas and Tocantins, due to the management adopted and the water regime during the cycle, since its cultivation is conducted on a rainfed basis. The objective of this study was to evaluate how water deficit imposed during reproductive stage interferes in the yield of cowpea and in its water use efficiency under the climatic conditions of Castanhal, Pará, Brazil, for agricultural planning purposes. The experiment was carried out in Castanhal, northeastern region of the Pará state during the dry season of 2014, 2015 and 2016. The experimental design was randomized blocks with six blocks and four treatments, corresponding to different irrigation depths in the reproductive stage, defined as 100, 50, 25 and 0% of the crop evapotranspiration. Water use efficiency (WUE) was determined by the ratio between total grain yield and total water used in each treatment. Maximum water availability led to an average increase in yield of 58% compared to the treatment without irrigation. Water depths below 260 mm limited yield to values lower than 1,000 kg ha-1. The cultivar adopted had WUE of 4.63 kg ha-1 mm-1, in response to the higher levels of water supply, but showed WUE of 4.31 kg ha-1 mm-1 under water depth of 50% of water demand.

RESUMO: A resistência aos herbicidas é um dos principais fatores responsáveis por falhas no controle de plantas daninhas. Uma vez não controladas e estressadas, plantas daninhas resistentes demandam nova aplicação de herbicidas de diferentes modos de ação, o que resulta em maior custo monetário e impacto ambiental. O conhecimento dos níveis de sensibilidade das plantas daninhas aos herbicidas antes de serem tomadas decisões para seu manejo no campo é primordial para o aumento na eficiência do manejo integrado das plantas daninhas. Dessa forma, métodos que possibilitem a rápida determinação dos níveis de sensibilidade podem auxiliar na correta recomendação antes da aplicação e, desse modo, favorecer uma maior eficiência técnica, econômica e ambiental do manejo das plantas daninhas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi validar um método rápido para detecção dos níveis de sensibilidade de picão-preto (Bidens pilosa) e buva (Conyza sumatrensis) ao saflufenacil. Foram realizados experimentos dose-resposta em câmara de crescimento, casa de vegetação e em campo. O controle proporcionado por diferentes doses do herbicida saflufenacil foi avaliado em cada ambiente, sendo os resultados correlacionados dentro de cada espécie. Os resultados demonstraram correlação positiva significativa para os resultados obtidos em câmara de crescimento e casa de vegetação para picão-preto e buva. Esses resultados indicam que o método desenvolvido em câmara de crescimento pode substituir ensaios em casa de vegetação para determinações dos níveis de sensibilidade de picão-preto e buva ao saflufenacil.

ABSTRACT: Resistance to herbicides is one of the main factors responsible for weed control failures. Once uncontrolled and stressed, resistant weeds demand a new application of herbicides from different modes of action, which results in higher monetary costs and environmental impact. Knowledge of weed sensitivity levels to herbicides before making decisions for their management in the field is paramount to increasing the efficiency of integrated weed management. Thus, methods that allow the rapid determination of sensitivity levels can help to the correct recommendation before the application, and thus, favor the greater technical, economic and environmental efficiency of weed management. The objective of this work was to validate a rapid method to detect the levels of sensitivity of black picker (Bidens pilosa) and horseweed (Conyza sumatrensis) to saflufenacil. Dose-response experiments were performed in growth chamber, greenhouse and field. The control provided by different doses of the saflufenacil herbicide was evaluated in each environment, and the results correlated within each species. The results showed a significant positive correlation for the results obtained in growth chamber and greenhouse for black picker and horseweed. These results indicate that the method developed in the growth chamber can replace greenhouse tests for determination of the sensitivity of black picker and horseweed to saflufenacil.
