ABSTRACT Wild birds have great prominence in the transmission of diseases to humans, mainly due to their ease of access to human populations, raising concerns about the potential impact of that proximity on public health. The present study reports ARV and PBV occurrence in wild birds from an environmental protection area in the Amazon biome, in Pará state, Brazil. We obtained 155 fecal specimens from 47 species of wild birds for RNA extraction, ARV and PBV detection utilizing molecular methods, nucleotide sequencing, and phylogenetic analysis. ARV prevalence was 0.6% (1/155), being positive in an individual of Myrmotherula longipennis, and PBV prevalence was 1.29% (2/155), affecting two individuals of Guira guira. The PBV strains were assigned to genogroup I based on phylogenetic analysis, and they shared a strong phylogenetic link with strains isolated from different geographic locations. The ARV strain was more closely related to strains that had previously circulated in the same region. The presence of ARV and PBV in this habitat suggests that infection cycles of these agents occur naturally in the wild ecosystem, potentially triggering transmission events between bird species and humans. This is the first study on ARV detection in wild birds in Brazil and the first report on the occurrence of PBV in wild Guira guira. Additional studies are required to determine the epidemiology, origin, evolution, and emergence of new potentially pathogenic viruses in the Amazon.

RESUMO As aves silvestres têm grande destaque na transmissão de doenças ao homem, principalmente pela facilidade de acesso à população humana, levantando preocupações sobre o potencial impacto dessa proximidade no contexto da saúde pública. O presente estudo relata a ocorrência de ARV e PBV em aves silvestres de uma área de proteção ambiental no bioma Amazônico. Obtivemos 155 espécimes fecais de 47 espécies de aves silvestres, que foram submetidos a extração de RNA, detecção de ARV e PBV por técnicas moleculares, sequenciamento nucleotídico e análise filogenética. A prevalência de infecção por ARV foi 0,6% (1/155), sendo positivo em um indivíduo de Myrmotherula longipennis, e a prevalência de PBV foi 1,29% (2/155), afetando dois insdivíduos de Guira guira. A análise filogenética agrupou as cepas de PBV no genogrupo I, mostrando intensa relação filogenética com cepas isoladas de outras regiões geográficas. A cepa de ARV esteve mais relacionada filogeneticamente a cepas previamente circulantes na mesma região. Este é o primeiro estudo sobre detecção de ARV em aves silvestres no Brasil e o primeiro relato sobre a ocorrência de PBV em Guira guira. A circulação de ARV e PBV nesse ambiente demonstra que os ciclos desses agentes estão ocorrendo de forma natural no ecossistema silvestre, o que pode desencadear possíveis eventos de transmissão entre as espécies aviárias e humanos. Estudos adicionais são necessários para determinar a epidemiologia, origem, evolução e surgimento de novos vírus potencialmente patogênicos na Amazônia.

Abstract Dental referrals to the Endodontics Specialty Clinic (ESC) are routine owing to the complexity of endodontic treatments. To obtain a better prognosis for treatment, students/dentists must perceive their technical limits. This study sought to investigate the referrals of patients to the ESC from different clinics of the Piracicaba Dental School, State University of Campinas - SP, Brazil, and check: a) the demographic profile of patients and the most commonly affected tooth; b) the clinic with the largest number of referrals; c) the reasons for referrals; d) the complexity of the cases; e) and the difficulty in assessing the referred cases based on the classification provided by the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) and Souza-Filho. The study sample consisted of patients’ electronic dental referral records from February 2015 to June 2019. A total of 1,707 patients were referred to the ESC during the study period, and 62.4% were female. Lower molars were the most frequently involved teeth (34.8%), and 60.7% of the cases were referred due to the presence of root curvature. The AAE classification showed prevalence of highly difficult cases (71.3%), whereas Souza-Filho classification demonstrated a high rate of class III cases (85.8%). This study highlights the difficulties encountered by undergraduate students before or during endodontic treatments, reinforcing the need for clear criteria for selecting cases appropriate for each education level, thus improving endodontic treatment prognosis.

Abstract Introduction: Comfort is sensitive to nursing care and results from satisfying the need for relief, tranquility, and transcendence in the physical, psycho-spiritual, social, and environmental dimensions. Objective: To map the available scientific evidence on nursing care that promotes comfort in palliative care. Inclusion criteria: Primary studies that report nursing care in promoting comfort to people in palliative care. Methods: Scoping review protocol according to the Joanna Briggs Institute recommendations. Published and unpublished studies, with a quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods approach. Complete search in MEDLINE Complete, CINAHL Complete, Scopus, Web of Science, RCAAP and OpenGrey databases. Screening of studies performed by title and abstract, with subsequent analysis of the full text by two independent reviewers who will extract and categorize data according to content. Research protocol registered in the Open Science Framework (DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/CN258). Conclusions: It is hoped to contribute to the clarification of concepts and to the definition of a theoretical framework that underpins the nursing intervention in the promotion of comfort to the person in a palliative situation.

Resumo Introdução: O conforto é sensível aos cuidados de enfermagem e resulta da satisfação da necessidade de alívio, tranquilidade e transcendência, nas dimensões física, psicoespiritual, social e ambiental. Objetivo: Mapear a evidência científica disponível sobre os cuidados de enfermagem que promovem o conforto na pessoa em situação paliativa. Critérios de inclusão: Estudos primários que relatem os cuidados de enfermagem na promoção do conforto à pessoa em situação paliativa. Métodos: Protocolo de scoping review segundo as recomendações do Joanna Briggs Institute. Estudos publicados e não publicados, com abordagem quantitativa, qualitativa ou de métodos mistos. Pesquisa completa nas bases de dados MEDLINE Complete, CINAHL Complete, Scopus, Web of Science, RCAAP e OpenGrey. Triagem dos estudos realizada pelo título e resumo, com posterior análise do texto integral por dois revisores independentes que farão a extração e categorização dos dados em função do conteúdo. Protocolo de pesquisa registado na Open Science Framework (DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/CN258). Conclusões: Espera-se contribuir para a clarificação de conceitos e para a definição de um quadro teórico que fundamente a intervenção de enfermagem na promoção do conforto à pessoa em situação paliativa.

Cribado de los estudios realizado por título y resumen, com posterior análisis del texto completo por dos revisores independientes que extraerán y categorizarán los datos según el contenido. Conclusiones: Se espera contribuir a la clarificación de conceptos y a la definición de un marco teórico que sustente la intervención enfermera en la promoción del confort de la persona en situación paliativa.

Objective: to map the instruments for risk assessment of pressure ulcers in adults in critical situation in intensive care units; identify performance indicators of the instrument, and the appreciation of users regarding the instruments’ use/limitations. Method: a scoping review. We used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews in the writing of the study. We carried out the searches in the EBSCOhost search tool for 8 databases, resulting in 1846 studies, of which 22 studies compose the sample. Results: we identified two big instrument groups: generalist [Braden, Braden (ALB), Emina, Norton-MI, RAPS, and Waterlow]; and specific (CALCULATE, Cubbin & Jackson, EVARUCI, RAPS-ICU, Song & Choi, Suriaidi and Sanada, and COMHON index). Regarding the predictive value, EVARUCI and CALCULATE presented better results for performance indicators. Concerning appreciation/limitations indicated by users, we highlight the CALCULATE scale, followed by EVARUCI and RAPS-ICU, although they still need future adjustments. Conclusion: the mapping of the literature showed that the evidence is sufficient to indicate one or more instruments for the risk assessment of pressure ulcers for adults in critical situation in intensive care units.

Objetivo: mapear los instrumentos para la evaluación del riesgo de lesiones por presión en adultos en situación crítica en una unidad de terapia intensiva; identificar los indicadores de desempeño de los instrumentos y la apreciación de los usuarios con respecto al uso/limitaciones de los instrumentos. Método: scoping review. Para redactar el estudio se utilizó la extensión Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews. La investigación se realizó mediante la herramienta de búsqueda EBSCOhost en 8 bases de datos, resultando 1846 estudios, de los cuales 22 conforman la muestra. Resultados: se identificaron dos grandes grupos de instrumentos: los generalistas [Braden, Braden (ALB), Emina, Norton-MI, RAPS y Waterlow]; y los específicos (CALCULATE, Cubbin & Jackson, EVARUCI, RAPS-ICU, Song & Choi, Suriaidi y Sanada y el índice COMHON). En cuanto al valor predictivo, EVARUCI y CALCULATE mostraron los mejores resultados de indicadores de desempeño. En cuanto a las apreciaciones/limitaciones señaladas por los usuarios, destaca la escala CALCULATE, seguida de la EVARUCI y la RAPS-ICU, aunque aún necesitan ajustes futuros. Conclusión: el mapeo mostró que las evidencias son suficientes para indicar uno o más instrumentos para la evaluación del riesgo de lesiones por presión en adultos críticos en una unidad de cuidados intensivos.

A pesquisa foi realizada na ferramenta de busca EBSCOhost em oito bases de dados, resultando em 1846 estudos, dos quais 22 compõem a amostra. Resultados: identificaram-se dois grandes grupos de instrumentos: os genéricos [Braden, Braden (ALB), Emina, Norton-MI, RAPS e Waterlow]; e os específicos (CALCULATE, Cubbin & Jackson, EVARUCI, RAPS-ICU, Song & Choi, Suriaidi e Sanada e o índice de COMHON). ABSTRACT Background: Fistulizing perianal Crohn’s disease poses a treatment challenge, and researchers postulate that this phenotype in young male patients could have a worst outcome. Objective: Thus, the aim of this study was to assess whether sex influences the response to treatment for these patients. Methods: This systematic review (PROSPERO CRD42022319629) was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses protocol. We selected articles published in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian between 2010 and 2020 in the PubMed and Science Direct databases. According to the PICO acronym, prospective studies in patients older than 18 years with the objective of treating fistulizing perianal Crohn’s disease were selected. Studies in pediatric populations, retrospective, without treatment objectives, and that included only rectovaginal fistulas or a single sex were excluded. Study quality was assessed using the Cochrane risk of bias tool and Newcastle-Ottawa scale. Results: Of the 1887 articles found, 33 were included. Most studies used anti-TNF drugs as treatment (n=11). Ten studies had subgroup analyses; of them, the two studies reporting sex differences used infliximab and adalimumab as treatment and showed that women had a longer fistula closure time than men. Conclusion: This systematic review showed that few data corroborate the difference between sexes in the treatment of fistulizing perianal Crohn’s disease, possibly having a greater relationship with the phenotype. However, considering the lack of results, further studies with this objective and with standardization of fistulas and response assessment methods are needed.

RESUMO Contexto: A doença de Crohn perianal fistulizante representa um desafio de tratamento, e postula-se que esse fenótipo em pacientes jovens do sexo masculino poderia ter um pior resultado. Objetivo: O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar se o sexo influencia a resposta ao tratamento desses pacientes. Métodos: Esta revisão sistemática (PROSPERO CRD42022319629) foi conduzida de acordo com o protocolo Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses. Foram selecionados artigos publicados em inglês, espanhol, português e italiano entre 2010 e 2020 nas bases de dados PubMed e Science Direct. De acordo com o acrônimo PICO, foram selecionados estudos prospectivos em pacientes maiores de 18 anos com objetivo de tratamento da doença de Crohn perianal fistulizante. Foram excluídos estudos em populações pediátricas, retrospectivos, sem objetivos de tratamento e que incluíssem apenas fístulas retovaginais ou um único sexo. A qualidade dos estudos foi avaliada usando a ferramenta de risco de viés Cochrane e a escala Newcastle-Ottawa. Resultados: Dos 1.887 artigos encontrados, 33 foram incluídos. A maioria dos estudos utilizou medicamentos anti-TNF como tratamento (n=11). Dez estudos tiveram análises de subgrupos; deles, os dois estudos que relataram diferenças entre os sexos usaram infliximabe e adalimumabe como tratamento e mostraram que as mulheres tiveram um tempo de fechamento da fístula maior que os homens. Conclusão: Esta revisão sistemática mostrou que poucos dados corroboram a diferença entre os sexos no tratamento da doença de Crohn perianal fistulizante, possivelmente tendo maior relação com o fenótipo. Porém, dada à falta de resultados, são necessários mais estudos com esse objetivo e com padronização das fístulas e métodos de avaliação da resposta.

NEmecum: herramienta digital de ayuda a la prescripción y dispensación de fórmulas de nutrición enteral y preparados infantiles

Resumen Introducción: existe una amplia variedad de fórmulas o preparados de nutrición enteral y fórmulas o preparados infantiles. La consulta de información relacionada debe hacerse en las herramientas propias de cada laboratorio, lo que dificulta la visión crítica y la comparativa entre las mismas. Objetivo: describir el desarrollo de NEmecum como la primera web que permite realizar una búsqueda dirigida e independiente de fórmulas de nutrición o preparados infantiles, analizar el abanico nutricional actual en España y evaluar los datos de uso de la herramienta. Métodos: se desarrolló la estructura de una base de datos que unifica los parámetros de todas las fórmulas y se analizó el abanico nutricional español. Posteriormente, se seleccionaron los principales algoritmos de búsqueda dirigida y se codificó la herramienta digital. Se llevó a cabo una intensa difusión y se evaluó el impacto obtenido. Se analizaron el perfil de usuarios y centros registrados y los datos de uso de la herramienta y se evaluó su usabilidad mediante el cuestionario System Usability Scale (SUS). Resultados: se obtuvo una web responsive de acceso gratuito (http://nemecum.com) que permite realizar búsquedas dirigidas en base a unos filtros de búsqueda preestablecidos. La herramienta permitió analizar detalladamente el abanico nutricional en España, observándose la gran variedad de fórmulas disponibles de similares características. La campaña de difusión consiguió incrementar su uso de forma exponencial y cuenta actualmente con 1.370 usuarios y 79 centros registrados. La usabilidad fue valorada como excelente. Conclusión: el desarrollo de NEmecum supone una herramienta valiosa en la búsqueda y consulta de datos de fórmulas o preparados de nutrición enteral y fórmulas o preparados infantiles.

Abstract Introduction: there is a wide variety of enteral nutrition and infant formulas preparations. When there is a need to find infomation on a product, only the infomation from industy is available. Comparison amomg products becomes then ardous. Objective: to describe the development of NEmecum as the first website that allows a directed and independent search for enteral nutrition products and infant formulas, currently available in Spain, and to evaluate the initial use of NEmecum. Methods: the structure of a database that unifies the parameters of all formulas was developed, and the nutritional composition of all formulas was analyzed. Subsequently, the main search algorithms were selected and the digital tool was codified. Intensive dissemination was performed and the impact was evaluated. The profile of users and registered centers and the use of the tool were analyzed, and its usability was evaluated using the System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire. Results: a free-access responsive website (http://nemecum.com) that allows searches based on pre-established search filters was obtained. This tool allows for a detailed analysis available formulas in Spain by observing a wide variety of formulas with similar characteristics. The dissemination campaign managed to increase its use exponentially, currently reaching 1,370 users and 79 registered centers. Usability was rated as excellent. Conclusion: the development of the NEmecum represents a valuable tool in the search and consultation of the characteristics of enteral nutrition formulas and infant preparations.

The psychological experience of medical rescuers during the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract Medical rescuers are the frontline for COVID-19 and their psychological experience and health are major concerns to our society and healthcare system. This study aims to understand how medical rescuers psychologically experienced this pandemic and explore the contributing variables to COVID-19 anxiety. Portuguese medical rescuers (n = 203) answered questions about their COVID-19 experience, the COVID-19 Anxiety Scale, Patient-Health Questionnaire, Perceived Stress Scale, Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory, and Well-Being Questionnaire. Rescuers presented low COVID-19 anxiety and low-moderate levels of fear. Most already faced or were facing changes in their job-related tasks, did not change household and did not feel stigma/discrimination. COVID-19 workplace security measures were considered moderately adequate and low anxiety, depression and obsessive-compulsive symptoms, low to moderate stress and moderate well-being were found. Only COVID-19 fear and security measures, anxiety, depression and obsessive-compulsive symptoms explained COVID-19 anxiety. Overall, findings showed these rescuers were psychologically well adjusted during the pandemic’s initial stages.

ABSTRACT Integrated agricultural production systems have been improved with the introduction of Urochloa grasses aiming at obtaining straw for a no-tillage system (NTS) and the increase of legumes, which promote physicochemical improvements in soils and guarantee intensification and sustainability of production. This study aimed to evaluate the agronomic traits and yield of soybean in succession to the intercropping of corn with marandu grass and/or pigeonpea in five populations of plants harvested for silage production. The experiment was carried out in the Cerrado region of Selvíria, MS, Brazil, during the 2016/17 and 2017/18 agricultural years, in an Oxisol. The experimental design consisted of randomized blocks, with four replications. The treatments were arranged in a 2×5 factorial scheme, consisting of off-season corn intercropped with pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.) and off-season corn intercropped with marandu grass (Urochloa brizantha) and pigeonpea, in addition to five sowing densities (0, 6, 12, 18, and 24 seeds m-1). Soybean was planted in succession aiming to evaluate the effect of remaining straw on crop performance. Soybean grown in succession to the triple intercropping of corn with marandu and pigeon pea shows increased productivity.

Abstract This article explores the allocation of resources by the Jesuits for the treatment of sick slaves who performed productive and domestic functions. The study focuses on the Colegio Máximo de Córdoba and the estancias of Alta Gracia, Jesús María and Candelaria, rural enterprises that provided material support to that educational space. The time frame of our study spans five decades before the expulsion of the Society of Jesus from Spanish America in the eighteenth century. The primary sources analyzed include the Libros de Cuentas, reports documenting the financial movements of the properties managed by the Jesuits; the Provincial’s Libro de Consultas; Memoriales; and the yearly letters written in the period. The research reveals that while expenses for special diets for the sick and shrouds increased during epidemics, the impact of these costs varied across Jesuit establishments. This variation is due to the different critical periods of public health that were not always synchronized across the studied locations, nor were the number of casualties and the care given to the sick.

Resumo Neste artigo, apresentamos e discutimos a destinação de recursos realizada pelos jesuítas para o tratamento de escravos enfermos que desempenhavam funções produtivas e domésticas no Colégio Máximo de Córdoba e nas estâncias de Alta Gracia, Jesus Maria e Candelária, empreendimentos rurais responsáveis pelo sustento material daquele espaço educacional, nas cinco décadas que antecederam a expulsão da Companhia de Jesus da América espanhola no século XVIII. As fontes analisadas são os Libros de Cuentas, relatórios nos quais os jesuítas deixaram registrado o movimento contábil das propriedades por eles administradas, além do Libro de Consultas do Provincial, dos Memoriales e das Cartas Ânuas do período. Se, por um lado, constatou-se que as despesas com aquisição de tecidos para confecção de mortalhas e com dietas especiais para enfermos aumentaram consideravelmente nos períodos das epidemias, por outro, observou-se que seu impacto se deu de forma diferenciada em cada um dos estabelecimentos jesuíticos, uma vez que nem sempre os períodos mais críticos de saúde pública são coincidentes entre si, e tampouco a quantidade de mortos e de atendimentos a doentes.

Resumen Objetivo: Evaluar el coste-efectividad de diferentes estrategias de vacunación universal infantil frente a la hepatitis A en España. Método: A partir de un modelo dinámico y un árbol de decisión, se realizó un análisis de coste-efectividad para comparar tres estrategias de vacunación frente a la hepatitis A: no vacunación y vacunación universal infantil con una y dos dosis. La perspectiva del estudio escogida fue la del Sistema Nacional de Salud (SNS) y se consideró como horizonte temporal toda la vida del paciente. Tanto los costes como los efectos se descontaron al 3% anual. Los resultados en salud se midieron en años de vida ajustados por calidad (AVAC) y la medida de coste-efectividad utilizada es la razón de coste-efectividad incremental (RCEI). Además, se llevaron a cabo análisis de sensibilidad determinísticos por escenarios. Resultados: En el caso particular de España, con baja endemicidad de hepatitis A, las diferencias en resultados en salud entre las distintas estrategias de vacunación (con una o dos dosis) y la no vacunación son prácticamente inexistentes, en términos de AVAC. Además, las RCEI obtenidas son elevadas, superando los límites establecidos de disposición a pagar obtenidos en España (22.000-25.000 €/AVAC). El análisis de sensibilidad determinístico muestra que los resultados son sensibles a las variaciones de los parámetros clave, aunque en ningún caso resultan coste-efectivos. Conclusiones: La vacunación universal infantil frente a la hepatitis A no sería una opción coste-efectiva desde la perspectiva del SNS en España en la actualidad.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of infant universal vaccination against hepatitis A in Spain. Method: Using a dynamic model and decision tree model, a cost-effectiveness analysis was performed to compare three vaccination strategies against hepatitis A: non-vaccination strategy versus universal childhood vaccination of hepatitis A with one or two doses. The perspective of the study was that of the National Health System (NHS) and a lifetime horizon was considered. Both costs and effects were discounted at 3% per year. Health outcomes were measured in terms of quality adjusted life years (QALY) and the cost-effectiveness measure used was the incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER). In addition, deterministic sensitivity analysis by scenarios was performed. Results: In the particular case of Spain, with low endemicity for hepatitis A, the difference in health outcomes between vaccination strategies (with 1 or 2 doses) and non-vaccination are practically non-existent, terms of QALY. In addition, the ICER obtained is high, exceeding the limits of willingness to pay from Spain (€22,000-25,000/QALY). The deterministic sensitivity analysis showed that the results are sensitive to the variations of the key parameters, although in no case the vaccination strategies are cost-effective. Conclusions: Universal infant vaccination strategy against hepatitis A would not be a cost-effective option from the NHS perspective in Spain.

RESUMO OBJETIVO Estimar a soroprevalência de anticorpos do vírus SARS-CoV-2 em escolares de quatro a 14 anos de idade residentes no município de São Paulo, segundo variáveis clínicas, demográficas, epidemiológicas e sociais, durante o período de fechamento das escolas como medida de controle da covid-19. MÉTODOS Realizou-se um inquérito sorológico em setembro de 2020 com amostra aleatória estratificada por tipo de rede de ensino (pública municipal, pública estadual e privada). Foi coletada amostra de sangue venoso utilizando-se o teste de imunoensaio de fluxo lateral da fabricante Wondfo para detecção de anticorpos totais contra o vírus SARS-CoV-2. Aplicaram-se questionários semiestruturados para o levantamento de dados clínicos, demográficos, sociais e epidemiológicos. RESULTADOS A soroprevalência de anticorpos do vírus SARS-CoV-2 em escolares foi de 16,6% (IC95% 15,4–17,8). O estudo encontrou soroprevalências mais elevadas na rede pública municipal (18,5%; IC95% 16,6–20,6) e estadual (16,2%; IC95% 14,4–18,2) em relação à rede privada (11,7; IC95% 10,0–13,7) e entre escolares da raça/cor preta e parda (18,4%; IC95% 16,8–20,2) e no estrato social mais vulnerável (18,5%; IC95% 16,9–20,2). A pesquisa identificou menores soroprevalências nos escolares que relataram seguir as medidas recomendadas de proteção contra a covid-19. CONCLUSÃO A soroprevalência de anticorpos contra o vírus SARS-CoV-2 atinge principalmente os escolares socialmente mais vulneráveis. Este estudo pode contribuir para embasar políticas públicas que reforcem a importância da suspensão das aulas presenciais e da necessidade de estratégias de medidas de proteção e acompanhamento do status sorológico daqueles que ainda não foram contemplados no calendário vacinal.

ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE To estimate seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in schoolchildren aged 4 to 14 years living in the city of São Paulo, according to clinical, demographic, epidemiological, and social variables, during the school closure period as a measure against covid-19 spread. METHODS A serological survey was made in September 2020 with a random sample stratified by school system (municipal public, state public and private) type. A venous blood sample was collected using the Wondfo SARS-CoV-2 Antibody Test (lateral flow method) for detection of total SARS-CoV-2 virus antibodies. Semi-structured questionnaires were applied to collect clinical, demographic, social, and epidemiological data. RESULTS Seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in schoolchildren was of 16.6% (95%CI 15.4–17.8). The study found higher seroprevalence in the municipal (18.5%; 95%CI 16.6–20.6) and state (16.2%; 95%CI 14.4–18.2) public school systems compared to the private school system (11.7; 95%CI 10.0–13.7), among black and brown students (18.4%; 95%CI 16.8–20.2) and in the most vulnerable social stratum (18.5 %;95%CI 16.9–20.2). Lower seroprevalence was identified in schoolchildren who reported following the recommended protective measures against covid-19. CONCLUSION Seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies is found mainly in the most socially vulnerable schoolchildren. This study can contribute to support public policies that reinforce the importance of suspending face-to-face classes and developing strategies aimed at protective measures and monitoring of the serological status of those who have not yet been included in the vaccination schedule.

RESUMO: Pombos urbanos são conhecidos pela sua capacidade de carrear e disseminar diversos agentes zoonóticos. Estudos tem sugerido que pombos são também relevantes na disseminação de estirpes resistentes a múltiplas drogas. No presente estudo, pombos no ambiente de um hospital veterinário foram amostrados em três diferentes períodos e testados para a presença de Escherichia coli patogênica, Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp. e Clostridioides (Clostridium) difficile. Isolados de E. coli de 19 pombos (40.4%) foram positivos para o gene codificador da toxina EAST1. O gene codificador de intimina (eae) do patotipo E. coli enteropatogênica foi encontrada em um isolado (2.1%). Salmonella spp. foi encontrada em nove pombos (19.1%), sendo todos isolados do primeiro período de captura (P < 000.1). S. Typhimurium foi isolado de seis animais e S. Heidelberg de três. A tipagem molecular de isolados de Salmonella spp. por ERIC-PCR demonstrou que oito estirpes possuíam alta similaridade genética entre si, sugerindo a ocorrência de um surto de salmonelose nos animais carreadores. Vinte Staphylococcus (42.5%) foram isolados de 18 animais (38.3%). Oito diferentes espécies foram detectadas, sendo S. xylosus a mais frequente. Duas estirpes de C. difficile não-toxigênica (4.3%) foram isoladas. Uma estirpe de S. Typhimurium, uma de S. aureus e um isolado de C. difficile foram classificados como resistentes a múltiplas drogas antimicrobianas. O presente estudo sugere que pombos capturados no ambiente do hospital veterinário podem atuar como reservatórios e disseminadores de bactérias patogênicas e envolvidas em infecção hospitalar, incluindo E. coli diarreiogênica e Staphylococcus sp., C. difficile e Salmonella spp multirresistente.

ABSTRACT: Pigeons are known for their capacity to harbor and spread several zoonotic agents. Studies have suggested that pigeons are also relevant disseminators of multidrug-resistant strains. In this study, pigeons surrounding a veterinary hospital were sampled and tested for the presence of pathogenic Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp., and Clostridioides (Clostridium) difficile. E. coli isolates from 19 (40.4%) pigeons tested positive for the E. coli heat-stable enterotoxin 1 (EAST1)-encoding gene. The intimin-encoding gene (eae) of enteropathogenicE. coli (EPEC) was found in one isolate (2.1%). Salmonella spp. were found in nine (19.1%) pigeons, all from the first capture event (P < 000.1). S. Typhimurium and S. Heidelberg were isolated from six and three pigeons, respectively. Enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus (ERIC-PCR) of the Salmonella spp. isolates suggested that eight of the nine strains had a high genetic similarity, supporting the hypothesis of an outbreak of salmonellosis in these pigeons. Twenty (42.5%) staphylococcal isolates were recovered from 18 (38.3%) pigeons. Eight different species were detected, with S. xylosus being the most frequent. Two (4.3%) C. difficile strains were isolated. Three isolates, one each of S. Typhimurium, S. aureus, and C. difficile, were classified as multidrug-resistant strains. The present research suggested that pigeons residing in urban areas can act as reservoirs and disseminators of pathogenic bacteria, including nosocomial pathogens, such as diarrheagenicE. coli and multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus spp., C. difficile, and Salmonella spp.

Resumen El presente trabajo se preocupa por presentar, desde una perspectiva institucional, las acciones de formación pedagógica de los docentes en una institución brasileña y otra uruguaya. El desafío de la cualificación docente en la educación superior es un tema contemporáneo que ha movilizado a las instituciones preocupadas por asumir el proceso de formación docente como parte de la excelencia de este nivel educativo. A la luz del marco teórico de la pedagogía universitaria, el artículo se guía por un enfoque cualitativo, basado en una metodología de estudio de casos múltiples (Yin, 2001) que compara dos experiencias relacionadas con un mismo pilar: la oferta de formación pedagógica con miras a promover el desarrollo profesional docente. El recorte se basa en una experiencia en Uruguay, cuyos datos fueron recolectados en 2019, y una experiencia en Brasil, cuyos datos se refieren al período 2020-2022. Los resultados indican que ambas experiencias contemplan, institucionalmente, la valorización de los espacios de formación, y convergen en acciones relacionadas con el trabajo de asesoría en la dimensión colectiva de la docencia. Sin embargo, presentan diferentes inversiones asociadas al mantenimiento de estos espacios de formación, constituyendo así diferentes procesos que desencadenan el desarrollo profesional de los docentes involucrados.

Abstract The present work is concerned with presenting, from an institutional perspective, the actions of teacher pedagogical training in a Brazilian and a Uruguayan institution. The challenge of teaching qualification in higher education is a contemporary theme that has mobilized institutions concerned with assuming the teacher training process as part of the excellence of this level of education. In the light of the theoretical framework of university pedagogy, the article is guided by a qualitative approach, based on a multiple case study methodology (Yin, 2001) that compares two experiences related to the same pillar: the offer of pedagogical training with a view to promoting professional development teacher. The clipping is based on an experience in Uruguay, whose data were collected in 2019, and an experience in Brazil, whose data refer to the 2020-2022 period. The results indicate that both experiences contemplate, institutionally, the valuation of training spaces, and converge in actions related to advisory work in the collective dimension of teaching. However, they present different investments associated with the maintenance of these training spaces, thus constituting different processes that trigger the professional development of the teachers involved.

Resumo O presente trabalho se ocupa de apresentar, pela perspectiva institucional, as ações de formação pedagógica docente em uma instituição brasileira e outra uruguaia. O desafio da qualificação da docência no ensino superior trata-se de um tema contemporâneo que tem mobilizado instituições preocupadas em assumir o processo formativo docente como parte da excelência desse nível de ensino. À luz do referencial teórico da pedagogia universitária, o artigo se orienta por uma abordagem qualitativa, a partir de uma metodologia de estudo de casos múltiplos (Yin, 2001) que coteja duas experiências relacionadas a um mesmo pilar: a oferta de formação pedagógica com vistas à promoção do desenvolvimento profissional docente. O recorte se estabelece em uma experiência do Uruguai, cujos dados foram colhidos em 2019, e uma experiência do Brasil, cujos dados se referem ao triênio 2020-2022. Os resultados sinalizam que ambas as experiências contemplam, institucionalmente, a valoração dos espaços de formação, e confluem em ações relacionadas ao trabalho de assessoramento na dimensão coletiva da docência. Contudo, apresentam distintos investimentos associados à manutenção desses espaços formativos, constituindo, com isso, distintos processos que desencadeiam o desenvolvimento profissional dos professores envolvidos.
