ABSTRACT: This in silico study aimed to evaluate the biomechanical behavior of a full-arch implant-supported prosthesis on titanium and zirconia monotype implants. A 3D mandible containing 1.0 mm thick cortical and cancellous bone was modeled. Four dental implants (3.3 x 10 mm) were inserted into the jaw model in each model. The implants consisted of Titanium (Ti-S group) and Zirconia Monotype/one-piece (Zr-S group). Fixed full-arch implant-supported prostheses were cemented onto the implant. The models were exported to the analysis software and divided into meshes composed of nodes and tetrahedral elements. All materials were considered isotropic, elastic, and homogeneous. Therefore, all contacts were considered bonded, the mandible model was fixed in all directions, applying a static structural axial load of 300 N on the bottom of the fossa of the left mola r teeth. Microstrain and von-Mises stress (MPa) were adopted as failure criteria. Comparable stress and strain values were shown in the peri-implant bone for both groups. However, the Ti-S group presented a lower stress value (1,155.8 MPa) than the Zr-S group (1,334.2 MPa). Regarding bone tissues, the Ti-S group presented 612 µε and the Zr-S group presented 254 µε. The highest strain peak was observed in bone tissues around the implant closer to the load for both groups. Evaluating monotype zirconia and titanium implants, it is suggested that the greater the rigidity of the implant, the greater the concentration of internal stre sses and the less dissipation to the surrounding tissues. Therefore, monotype ceramic implants composed of yttrium-stabilized tetragonal polycrystalline zirconia may be a viable alternative to titanium implants for full-arch prostheses.

RESUMEN: El objetivo de este estudio in silico fue evaluar el comportamiento biomecánico de una prótesis implanto soportada de arcada completa sobre implantes monotipo de titanio y zirconia. Se modeló una mandíbula en 3D que contenía tejido óseo cortical y esponjoso de 1,0 mm de espesor. En cada modelo, se insertaron cuatro implantes dentales (3,3 x 10 mm) en el modelo de mandíbula. Los implantes consistieron en Monotipo de Titanio y Zirconia. Sobre el implante se cementaron prótesis implanto soportadas de arcada completa fija. Los modelos se exportaron al software de análisis y se dividieron en mallas compuestas por nodos y elementos tetraédricos. Todos los materiales se consideraron isotrópicos, elásticos y homogéneos. Por lo tanto, todos los contactos se consideraron cementados, el modelo mandibular se fijó en todas las direcciones, aplicando una carga vertical estructural estática de 300 N en el fondo de la fosa de los dientes molares izquierdos. Se seleccionaron la microesfuerzo y la tensión de Von-Mises (MPa) como criterios de falla. Se mostraron valores de tensión y deformación comparables en el hueso periimplantario para ambos grupos. Sin embargo, el grupo Ti-S presentó un valor de estrés menor (1.155,8 MPa) que el grupo Zr-S (1.334,2 MPa). En cuanto a los tejidos óseos, el grupo Ti-S presentó 612 µε y el grupo Zr-S presentó 254 µε. La mayor concentración de deformación en el tejido óseo se observó en los tejidos alrededor del implante más cerca de la carga para ambos grupos. Al evaluar los implantes monotípicos de zirconia y titanio, se sugiere que cuanto mayor sea la rigidez del implante, mayor será la concentración de tensiones internas y menor la disipación a los tejidos circundantes. Por lo tanto, los implantes cerámicos monotipo compuestos de zirconia policristalina tetragonal estabilizada con itrio pueden ser una alternativa viable a los implantes de titanio para prótesis de arcada completa.

Abstract The objective of this study was to evaluate the seasonal effect of months of the year upon the physiological and productive responses of crossbred dairy cows raised in an Amazonian climate. Twenty lactating cows were evaluated, fed on Brachiaria decumbens pasture, with free access to water and mineral supplementation. Data from climate variables air temperature (AT), relative humidity (RH), rainfall (RA) and temperature and humidity index (THI) were recorded dur ing the months of January to April 2019. The physiological data collected were: respiratory rate (RR, mov/min), heart rate (HR, beats/min), rectal temperature (RT, ºC), udder surface temperature (UST, ºC), body surface temperature (BST, ºC), dorsum surface temperature (DST, ºC), front surface temperature (FST, ºC) and rear shin temperature (RST). Milk production (MP) was also measured. There was a significant difference (P<0.05) of RST and RR with values ranging from 34.8 to 35.5°C and 32.0 to 36.2 mov/min, respectively. There were no significant difference (P>0.05) for BST, and the values for MP and THI were 3.8; 3.8; 4.6; 4.1 kg and 77.7; 79.7; 80.6; 80.1, respectively. It was concluded that there was a seasonal effect of the months of the year evaluated on the respiratory rate of animals, however, it did not change the MP and the THI. The Amazon environment is conducive to causing thermal stress in lactating cows raised on pasture, requiring the use of shading to facilitate the ability of these animals to dissipate heat.

Resumo O objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar os efeitos sazonais dos meses do ano sobre as respostas fisiológicas e produtivas de vacas leiteiras mestiças criadas em clima amazônico. Foram avaliadas 20 vacas lactantes, alimentadas com pasto de Brachiaria decumbens, com acesso livre a água e suplementação mineral. Foram registrados dados das variáveis climáticas temperatura do ar (TA), umidade relativa do ar (UR), precipitação pluviométrica (PP) e índice de temperatura e Umidade (ITU) durante os meses de janeiro a abril de 2019. Os dados fisiológicos coletados foram: frequência respiratória (FR, mov/min), frequência cardíaca (FC, bat./min), temperatura retal (TR, ºC), temperatura superficial do úbere (TSU, ºC), temperatura superfície corporal (TSC, ºC), temperatura superficial do dorso (TSD, ºC), temperatura superficial da fronte (TSF, ºC) e temperatura superficial da canela (TSCA, °C). Também foi mensurada a produção de leite (PL, kg). Houve diferença significativa (P<0,05) da TSCA e FR com valores variando de 34,8 a 35,5°C e 32,0 a 36,2 mov/min, respectivamente. Não houve diferença significativa (P>0,05) para TSC e os valores observados para PL e ITU foram 3,8; 3,8; 4,6; 4,1 kg e 77,7; 79,7; 80,6; 80,1, respectivamente. Houve efeito sazonal dos meses avaliados sobre a taxa respiratória dos animais, no entanto, isso não alterou a PL nem o ITU. O ambiente amazônico é propício a causar estresse térmico em vacas lactantes mantidas a pasto, sendo necessário o uso de sombreamento para facilitar a capacidade de dissipação de calor corporal desses animais.

Resumen Este estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar el desempeño productivo y el estado nutricional de ovinos mestizos alimentados con una dieta que contenía ensilaje de pasto buffel (EPB) en sustitución de ensilaje de maíz (EM). Treinta y dos (32) ovinos Santa Inês machos con un peso corporal promedio de 20.09 ± 2.0 kg se distribuyeron en un diseño de bloques completamente al azar con cuatro tratamientos (0, 33.3, 66.6 y 100 % de sustitución de ensilaje de maíz por ensilaje de pasto buffel) y ocho animales por tratamiento. Se evaluó la ingesta de materia seca, la digestibilidad aparente de nutrientes, el balance hídrico, el balance de nitrógeno y el desempeño productivo de los animales. Los diferentes niveles de sustitución de ensilaje de maíz por ensilaje de pasto buffel promovieron una disminución lineal en el consumo de extracto etéreo (P=0.001) y carbohidratos no fibrosos (P<0.001), digestibilidad aparente de carbohidratos no fibrosos (P=0.019), ingesta de agua vía alimentos (P<0.001), ingesta total de agua (P=0.008), excreción de agua vía orina (P=0.004), excreción total de agua (P=0.001), entre los cuales los valores más altos se observaron en animales alimentados con 100 % de ensilaje de maíz. La excreción de agua vía heces (P=0.017) y el balance de nitrógeno (P=0.047) mostraron una función cuadrática, aumentando a medida que la sustitución con ensilaje de pasto buffel se incrementó de 0 a 33.3 %. No se observaron diferencias significativas (P>0.05) en el desempeño productivo de los ovinos, con una ganancia diaria de peso promedio de 140.16 g/día. La sustitución del 66.6 % de EM por EPB proporciona resultados satisfactorios para la ingesta de materia seca y nutrientes, y la ingesta de agua, con una ganancia de peso de hasta 155 g/día para ovinos mestizos Santa Inês en los semiáridos brasileños.

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the productive performance and nutritional status of crossbred sheep fed a diet containing buffel grass silage (BGS) in substitution of corn silage (CS). Thirty-two male Santa Inês sheep with an average body weight of 20.09 ± 2.0 kg were distributed in a completely randomized block design with four treatments (0, 33.3, 66.6, and 100 % of substitution of corn silage with buffel grass silage) and eight animals per treatment. Dry matter intake, apparent nutrient digestibility, water balance, nitrogen balance, and productive performance of animals were evaluated. The different levels of substitution of corn silage by buffel grass silage promoted a linear decrease in the consumption of ether extract (P=0.001) and non-fibrous carbohydrate (P<0.001), apparent digestibility of non-fibrous carbohydrate (P=0.019), water intake via food (P<0.001), total water intake (P=0.008), water excretion via urine (P=0.004), total water excretion (P=0.001), among which the highest values were observed in animals fed 100% corn silage. Water excretion via feces (P=0.017) and nitrogen balance (P=0.047) showed a quadratic function, increasing as substitution with buffel grass silage increased from 0 to 33.3 %. No significant differences (P>0.05) were observed in sheep productive performance, with an average daily weight gain of 140.16 g/d. The replacement of 66.6 % of CS for BGS provides satisfactory results for dry matter and nutrients intake, and water intake, with weight gain of up to 155 g/d for Santa Inês crossbred sheep in Brazilian semi-arid.

RESUMEN Objetivo. El objetivo fue evaluar el efecto de la variabilidad de las lluvias sobre la composición química, la degradabilidad in vitro y la producción de gas de cactus en la región Semiárida. Materiales y métodos. Este fue un diseño experimental completamente al azar en un arreglo factorial de 2 períodos de lluvia (lluvia alta y baja) x 5 especies de cactus, con 5 repeticiones. Los cactus evaluados fueron Pilosocereus gounellei (Weber ex K. Schum). Bly ex Rowl, Cereus jamacaru DC., Opuntia ficus indica Mill, Nopalea cochenillifera Salm. Dyck y Opuntia stricta (Haw.) Haw, todas frescas. Resultados. Hubo una interacción entre la variación de la lluvia y las especies de cactus para materia seca, proteína cruda, fibra detergente neutra y fibra detergente ácido (p<0.05), producción de gas in vitro (p<0.05) y para la degradabilidad in vitro de materia seca (p<0.05). Entre los cactus, Pilosocereus gounellei presentó una menor proporción de materia orgánica y un aumento en el contenido de materia mineral en relación a los demás cactus (p<0.05). Conclusiones. La composición química, los coeficientes de producción de gas y la degradabilidad in vitro fueron influenciados por las especies de cactus y por la variación de las precipitaciones. Las especies de cactus aumentan el contenido de materia seca, proteína cruda y fibra de detergente neutro durante la escasez de precipitaciones. Las variedades de nopal (Opuntia y Nopalea) se destacaron entre los cactus ensayados en relación a la producción de gas y la degradabilidad in vitro.

ABSTRACT Objective. The objective was to evaluate the effect of rainfall variability on the chemical composition, in vitro degradability and gas production of cacti in Semiarid region. Materials and methods. A completely randomized experimental design in a factorial arrangement of 2 rainfall periods (high and low rainfall) x 5 cactus species, with 5 replications was adopted. Cacti evaluated were Pilosocereus gounellei (Weber ex K. Schum). Bly ex Rowl, Cereus jamacaru DC., Opuntia ficus indica Mill, Nopalea cochenillifera Salm. Dyckand Opuntia stricta (Haw.) Haw, all fresh. Results. There was an interaction between rainfall variation and cactus species for dry matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber (p<0.05), in vitro gas production (p<0.05) and for in vitro dry matter degradability (p<0.05). Among cacti, Pilosocereus gounellei presented a lower proportion of organic matter and an increase in the content of mineral matter in relation to the other cacti (p<0.05). Conclusions. The chemical composition, the gas production coefficients and the in vitro degradability were influenced by the cacti species and by the rainfall variation. Cacti species increase the dry matter, crude protein and neutral detergent fiber contents during the low rainfall. Varieties of cactus pear (Opuntia and Nopalea) stood out among the cacti tested in relation to gas production and in vitro degradability.

Resumo Como o eucalipto é uma planta de crescimento rápido, oferece vantagens em comparação com outras espécies florestais, e o uso de sistemas de irrigação localizados pode aumentar o rendimento e reduzir o tempo de corte. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o crescimento de dois híbridos de eucalipto, em condição de cultura: terra irrigada e seca, durante o primeiro ano de desenvolvimento da cultura. O experimento foi realizado em abril de 2011 na área experimental de irrigação da Universidade Estadual de Mato Grosso do Sul, no município de Aquidauana, MS, Brasil. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados, com quatro blocos e duas repetições em cada bloco. As parcelas foram compostas pelos tratamentos de irrigação (gotejamento, microaspersão e sem irrigação), e as subparcelas foram compostas por dois híbridos de eucalipto (Grancam e Urograndis). As avaliações ocorreram aos 60, 120, 180, 240, 300 e 360 dias após o transplante (DAT), medindo a altura das plantas e o diâmetro do tronco; e, assim, foram estimados o volume, a biomassa, o estoque de carbono e a eficiência no uso da água em todos os períodos avaliados. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância e comparados pelo teste de Tukey ao nível de 5% de probabilidade. Conclui-se que, a 360 DAT, as irrigações por gotejamento e microaspersão levaram a ganhos de biomassa e estoque de carbono de cerca de 190% em comparação com o eucalipto sem irrigação.

Abstract Since eucalyptus is a fast-growing plant, it offers advantages in comparison to other forest species, and the use of localized irrigation systems can increase yield and reduce time to cutting. The aim of this study was to evaluate two eucalyptus hybrids, growth in crop condition: irrigated and dry land, during the first year of development of the crop. The experiment was set up in April 2011 in the irrigation experimental area of the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul, in the municipality of Aquidauana, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. A randomized block experimental design was use in split-plots, with four blocks and two replications within each block. Plots were composed of the irrigation treatments (drip, micro sprinkler and no irrigation), and the subplots were composed of two eucalyptus hybrids (Grancam and Urograndis). Evaluations occurred at 60, 120, 180, 240, 300 and 360 days after transplant (DAT), measuring the height of plants and trunk diameter; and, thus, the volume, biomass, carbon stock and efficiency in water use in all the periods evaluated was estimated. Data were subject to analysis of variance and compared by the Tukey test at the level of 5% probability. It is concluded that at 360 DAT, the drip and micro sprinkler irrigations led to gains in biomass and carbon stock of around 190% as compared to eucalyptus without irrigation.

Resumo Objetivou-se avaliar a qualidade interna de ovos provenientes de poedeiras comerciais e de galinhas caipiras submetidos a diferentes períodos e temperaturas de armazenamento. Para o experimento, foram utilizados 280 ovos. Os ovos foram distribuídos aleatoriamente nos diferentes tratamentos adotando-se o delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 2 x 7, duas temperaturas, sete períodos de armazenamento, totalizando 14 tratamentos com 10 repetições. Os tratamentos consistiram em duas condições de armazenamento: sob refrigeração (6 ± 1,0ºC) e em temperatura ambiente (26,6 ± 1,0ºC). Os ovos foram analisados por um período de 30 dias, com avaliações realizadas em diferentes períodos de armazenamento (0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 e 30 dias). Para cada condição de armazenamento, foram separados 140 ovos, sendo 70 ovos comerciais e 70 ovos caipiras. Ocorreu aumento linear na perda de peso dos ovos, peso da gema, pH do albúmen, pH da gema, comprimento e largura do albúmen e da gema dos ovos comerciais e caipiras, à medida que se aumentava o período de armazenamento. Verificou-se redução linear no peso, altura e índice do albúmen e no índice da gema dos ovos comerciais e caipiras conforme se aumentava o período de armazenamento, com respostas mais acentuadas para ovos acondicionados em temperatura ambiente (P<0,05). A porcentagem de albúmen foi reduzida linearmente apenas para ovos comerciais (P<0,05). Ovos mantidos sob temperatura ambiente reduzem a sua qualidade a partir dos 15 dias de armazenamento, sendo o armazenamento sob refrigeração durante o período de 30 dias, o recomendado para preservar a vida de prateleira do ovo para consumo.

Abstract The objective was to evaluate the internal quality of eggs from commercial laying hens and free-range hens subjected to different storage periods and temperatures. For the experiment, 280 eggs were randomly distributed into different treatments, adopting a completely randomized design, in a 2 x 7 factorial arrangement of two temperatures, seven storage periods, totaling 14 treatments with 10 replications. The treatments consisted of two storage conditions: under refrigeration (6 ± 1.0ºC) and at room temperature (26.6 ± 1.0ºC). Eggs were analyzed for 30 days, with evaluations in different storage periods (0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 days). For each storage condition, 140 eggs were separated, 70 commercial eggs and 70 free-range eggs. There was a linear increase in egg weight loss, yolk weight, albumen pH, yolk pH, length and width of albumen and yolk of commercial and free-range eggs, as the storage period increased. There was a linear reduction in weight, height and albumen index and in the yolk index of commercial and free-range eggs as the storage period increased, with more pronounced responses for eggs stored at room temperature (P<0.05). Albumen percentage was linearly reduced only for commercial eggs (P<0.05). Eggs kept at room temperature reduce their quality after 15 days of storage, and the storage under refrigeration for 30 days is recommended to preserve the shelf life of the egg for consumption.

Abstract The effect of probiotic milk drinks associated with non-surgical periodontal therapy (NSPT) in treating periodontitis was evaluated. A double-blind placebo-controlled randomized clinical trial with patients with periodontitis was conducted. Two groups were used: TG (n=15, test group, probiotic milk drink, Lacticaseibacillus casei 01, 8-9 log CFU/mL) and CG (n=15, control group, conventional milk drink). The milk drinks (100 mL) were consumed once a day at breakfast for 15 days. Both groups also received NSPT, supra and subgingival scaling and root planning per quadrant, and oral hygiene instruction. All patients were clinically evaluated after 30, 90, and 180 days of the last NSPT session. Reductions in clinical attachment loss and probing pocket depth were observed at 30 days in both groups, maintained throughout the follow-up. Decreases in visible plaque index (VPI) and bleeding on probing were observed after probiotic milk drink consumption for 30 days, suggesting an effect provided by probiotics in the control of biofilm and inflammation. However, the impact on VPI was not persistent for more than 30 days, demonstrating the need for regular consumption of the probiotic milk drink. In conclusion, probiotic milk drinks may be used as adjuvant therapy to treat periodontitis.

Abstract Banana tree bacterial wilt is caused by the Ralstonia solanacearum Moko ecotype. These strains vary in their symptom progression in banana, and are classified as typical Moko variants (phylotype IIA and IIB strains from across Central and South America), Bugtok variant (Philippines), and Sergipe facies (the states of Sergipe and Alagoas, Brazil). This study used comparative genomic and phylogenomic approaches to identify a correlation between the symptom progression of the Moko ecotypes based on the analysis of 23 available genomes. Average nucleotide identity and in silico DNA-DNA hybridization revealed a high correlation (>96% and >78%, respectively) between the genomes of Moko variants. Pan-genome analysis identified 21.3% of inheritable regions between representatives of the typical Moko and Sergipe facies variants, which could be traced to an abundance of exclusive homolog clusters. Moko ecotype genomes shared 1,951 orthologous genes, but representatives with typical symptoms did not display unique orthologues. Moreover, Bugtok disease and Sergipe facies genomes did not share any unique genes, suggesting convergent evolution to a shared symptom progression. Overall, genomic and phylogenomic analyses were insufficient to differentiate the Moko variants based on symptom progression.

RESUMO Objetivo: analisar óbitos por Covid-19 em profissionais da enfermagem brasileira, confirmados com Covid-19, e em quarentena, internados ou falecidos, no Observatório do Conselho Nacional de Enfermagem. Método: estudo transversal, entre março de 2020 e agosto de 2021, no Brasil, via observatório do Conselho Federal de Enfermagem. Os dados foram analisados utilizando estatística descritiva e inferencial. Resultados: a prevalência de óbito por Covid-19 em profissionais da enfermagem brasileira foi de 2,5% (825/32.560), nos auxiliares de enfermagem 4,9% (109/2.224), estes com média de idade mais elevada (p< 0,0001). Apesar de 84,5% (27.508/32.560) da amostra ser feminina, a porcentagem de óbito foi maior no sexo masculino 5,2% (263/5.052) (p<0,0001). A regressão logística demonstrou que o sexo e a categoria profissional podem predizer o óbito por Covid-19 entre a enfermagem brasileira. Conclusão: o estudo contribui para evidenciar os riscos da categoria no enfrentamento da Covid-19 e repensar medidas para reduzir danos da pandemia nessa população.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze deaths due to COVID-19 in Brazilian Nursing professionals, with confirmed diagnoses of the disease and in quarantine, hospitalized or deceased, at the Federal Nursing Council Observatory. Method: a cross-sectional study conducted in Brazil between March 2020 and August 2021, via the Federal Nursing Council Observatory. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: the prevalence of death due to COVID-19 in Brazilian Nursing professionals was 2.5% (825/32,560) and 4.9% (109/2,224) in nursing assistants, these latter with a higher mean age (p<0.0001). Although 84.5% (27,508/32,560) of the sample was female, the percentage of deaths was higher in the male gender, with 5.2% (263/5,052) (p<0.0001). The logistic regression analysis showed that gender and professional category can predict deaths due to COVID-19 among Brazilian Nursing workers. Conclusion: the study contributes to evidencing the risks faced by the professional category in coping with COVID-19, as well as to rethinking measures to reduce the harms imposed by the pandemic on this population segment.

RESUMEN Objetivo: analizar los fallecimientos por COVID-19 entre profesionales de Enfermería brasileños, con diagnóstico confirmado de la enfermedad y en cuarentena, internados o fallecidos, en el Observatorio del Consejo Federal de Enfermería. Método: estudio transversal realizado en Brasil entre marzo de 2020 y agosto de 2021 a través del Observatorio del Consejo Federal de Enfermería. Los datos se analizaron por medio de estadística descriptiva e inferencial. Resultados: la prevalencia de fallecimientos por COVID-19 entre profesionales de Enfermería brasileños fue del 2,5% (825/32.560) y en auxiliares de enfermería fue del 4,9% (109/2.224), estos últimos con mayor media de edad (p<0,0001). A pesar de que el 84,5% (27.508/32.560) de la muestra estuvo compuesta por mujeres, el porcentaje de fallecimientos fue mayor en el sexo masculino: 5,2% (263/5.052) (p<0,0001). El análisis de regresión logística demostró que el sexo y la categoría profesional pueden predecir el desenlace de fallecimiento por COVID-19 entre profesionales de Enfermería en Brasil. Conclusión: el estudio contribuye a poner de manifiesto los riesgos a los que se expone la categoría profesional en el afrontamiento del COVID-19, al igual que a repensar medidas para reducir los perjuicios ocasionados por la pandemia en este segmento de la población.

Abstract Banana vascular wilt or Moko is a disease caused by Ralstonia solanacearum. This study aimed to sequence, assemble, annotate, and compare the genomes of R. solanacearum Moko ecotypes of different sequevar strains from Brazil. Average nucleotide identity analyses demonstrated a high correlation (> 96%) between the genome sequences of strains CCRMRs277 (sequevar IIA-24), CCRMRs287 (IIB-4), CCRMRs304 (IIA-24), and CCRMRsB7 (IIB-25), which were grouped into phylotypes IIA and IIB. The number of coding sequences present in chromosomes and megaplasmids varied from 3,070 to 3,521 and 1,669 to 1,750, respectively. Pangenome analysis identified 3,378 clusters in the chromosomes, of which 2,604 were shared by all four analyzed genomes and 2,580 were single copies. In megaplasmids, 1,834 clusters were identified, of which 1,005 were shared by all four genomes and 992 were identified as single copies. Strains CCRMRsB7 and CCRMRs287 differed from the others by having unique clusters in both their chromosomes and megaplasmids, and CCRMRsB7 possessed the largest genome among all Moko ecotype strains sequenced to date. Therefore, the genomic information obtained in this study provides a theoretical basis for the identification, characterization, and phylogenetic analysis of R. solanacearum Moko ecotypes.

RESUMO OBJETIVOS: Estimar a prevalência e fatores associados à hesitação ao uso da vacina contra o vírus SARS-CoV-2 no Maranhão, Brasil. MÉTODOS: Estudo transversal de base populacional realizado de 19 a 30 de outubro de 2020. As estimativas consideraram agrupamento, estratificação e não resposta. A seleção da amostra foi realizada em três estágios (estrato, setores censitários e domicílio). Após análise sistemática, em cada estrato foram selecionados trinta setores, totalizando 150 setores, sendo o número de domicílios em cada setor fixado em 34, totalizando 5.100 domicílios e um indivíduo por domicílio (residente pelo menos há seis meses e com um ano de idade ou mais) selecionado por amostra aleatória simples. A intenção de ser vacinado foi questionada aos participantes. Foi realizada análise descritiva (frequências ponderadas) e teste do qui-quadrado de Pearson para verificar associação univariada entre as variáveis independentes e o desfecho (p < 0,05). Realizou-se análise multivariada robusta utilizando-se modelagem hierarquizada em três níveis. RESULTADOS: Foram entrevistados 4.630 indivíduos. A prevalência de hesitação vacinal foi de 17,5% (IC95% 16,1–19,1%). Após ajuste final do modelo, a hesitação vacinal foi estatisticamente maior entre moradores das cidades de Imperatriz (24,0%; RP = 1,48; IC95% 1,09–2,02) e de munícipios da Grande Ilha de São Luís (20,7%; RP = 1,34; IC95% 1,02–1,76), pessoas do sexo feminino (19,8%; RP = 1,44; IC95% 1,20–1,75), idosos (22,8%; RP = 1,79; IC95% 1,30–2,46), pertencentes às religiões de denominação evangélica (24,1%; RP = 1,49; IC95% 1,24–1,79) e entre aqueles sem relato de sintomas (18,6%; RP = 1,24; IC95% 1,02–1,51). Outras características socioeconômicas e demográficas, assim como variáveis relacionadas ao mercado de trabalho, comportamentos e condições de saúde dos entrevistados, não tiveram diferença estatística. CONCLUSÃO: A prevalência de hesitação vacinal no Maranhão e sua associação com fatores individuais, contextuais e clínicos revelam os grupos e contextos mais resistentes e que devem merecer atenção especial das estratégias públicas para garantir a ampla vacinação.

Each sector contained a fixed number of 34 households, thus totaling 5,100 households. One individual within each household (resident for at least six months and aged one year or more) was selected by a simple random sampling. We questioned participants about their vaccination intention. Univariate association between independent variables and the outcome were verified using descriptive analysis (weighted frequencies) and Pearson's chi-square test (p < 0.05). Robust multivariate analysis was performed using a three-level hierarchical model. RESULTS: We found 17.5% (95%CI 16.1–19.1%) of the 4,630 individuals interviewed to report hesitancy to be vaccinated against covid-19. After final model adjustment, vaccination hesitancy was statistically higher among residents of the cities of Imperatriz (24.0%; RP = 1.48; IC95% 1.09–2.02) and municipalities of the Grande Ilha de São Luís (20.7%; RP = 1.34; 95%CI 1.02–1.76), female individuals (19.8%; RP = 1.44; 95%CI 1.20–1.75), older adults (22.8%; RP = 1.79; IC95% 1.30–2.46), evangelicals (24.1%; RP = 1.49; 95%CI 1.24–1.79), and those without reported symptoms (18.6%; RP = 1.24; 95%CI 1.02–1.51). We found no statistical differences for other socioeconomic and demographic characteristics, as well as variables related to the labor market, behaviors, and health conditions of the interviewees. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of vaccine hesitancy in Maranhão and its association with individual, contextual, and clinical factors enable us to identify the groups and contexts of greatest resistance, requiring special attention from public strategies to ensure wide vaccination.

METHODS Data from the Mortality Information System were used. Expected deaths for 2020 were estimated from 2015 to 2019 data using a negative binomial log-linear model. RESULTS Excess deaths in Brazil in 2020 amounted to 13.7%, and the ratio of excess deaths to COVID-19 deaths was 0.90. Reductions in deaths from cardiovascular diseases (CVD), respiratory diseases, and external causes, and an increase in ill-defined causes were all noted. Excess deaths were also found to be heterogeneous, being higher in the Northern, Center-Western, and Northeastern states. In some states, the number of COVID-19 deaths was lower than that of excess deaths, whereas the opposite occurred in others. Moreover, excess deaths were higher in men aged 20 to 59, and in black, yellow, or indigenous individuals. Meanwhile, excess mortality was lower in women, in individuals aged 80 years or older, and in whites. Additionally, deaths among those aged 0 to 19 were 7.2% lower than expected, with reduction in mortality from respiratory diseases and external causes. There was also a drop in mortality due to external causes in men and in those aged 20 to 39 years. Moreover, reductions in deaths from CVD and neoplasms were noted in some states and groups. CONCLUSION There is evidence of underreporting of COVID-19 deaths and of the possible impact of restrictive measures in the reduction of deaths from external causes and respiratory diseases. The impacts of COVID-19 on mortality were heterogeneous among the states and groups, revealing that regional, demographic, socioeconomic, and racial differences expose individuals in distinct ways to the risk of death from both COVID-19 and other causes.
