O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência de doses crescentes de nitrogênio sobre o crescimento vegetativo, a produção e os níveis foliares de nutrientes da amoreira-preta (Rubus spp.). O experimento foi realizado com as cultivares Tupy e Xavante, na região sul do Rio Grande do Sul, de 2008 a 2012. Os tratamentos consistiram da aplicação de cinco doses de N (0,0, 7,5, 15,0, 22,5 e 30,0 g por planta), aplicados na adubação de manutenção, após a implantação da lavoura. Utilizou-se o delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições. Foram avaliadas as variáveis: densidade de hastes, massa de matéria seca de poda, índice de clorofila, produção por planta, número de frutos e composição nutricional das folhas (N, K, Ca, Mg e S). A adubação nitrogenada influenciou significativamente o crescimento vegetativo, a produção e a composição nutricional das folhas. As cultivares apresentaram resposta distinta à aplicação de N, em que 'Tupy' foi mais exigente que 'Xavante'. As doses de N atualmente recomendadas para a cultura da amoreira-preta são satisfatórias para a máxima produção de 'Xavante', mas insuficientes para 'Tupy'.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of increasing doses of nitrogen on vegetative growth, yield and leaf nutrient levels of blackberry (Rubus spp.). The experiment was carried out with the cultivars Tupy and Xavante, in southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, from 2008 to 2012. It was used a randomized block design, with four replicates. Treatments consisted of five N doses (0.0, 7.5, 15.0, 22.5 and 30.0 g per plant), applied as maintenance fertilization after the crop establishment. The following variables were evaluated: cane density, pruned dry mass, chlorophyll index, yield, number of fruit, and nutritional composition of leaves for N, K, Ca, Mg and S. The fertilization treatments significantly influenced the vegetative growth, yield, and nutrient composition of leaves. The cultivars responded differently to nitrogen application, with 'Tupy' being more demanding than 'Xavante'. The currently recommended nitrogen rate for blackberry cultivation is suitable for maximum yield of 'Xavante', but it is not sufficient for 'Tupy'.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o padrão de distribuição e a composição da matéria orgânica do solo (MOS) e de seus compartimentos físicos em um Neossolo periodicamente afetado pelo fogo nos últimos 100 anos, no Sul do Brasil. Amostras de solo foram coletadas nas profundidades de 0-5, 5-10 e 10-15 cm, nos seguintes ambientes: pastagem nativa sem queima há um ano e com lotação de 0,5 animal por hectare por ano (1NB); pastagem nativa sem queima há 23 anos e com lotação de 2,0 animais por hectare por ano (23NB); e mata de Araucária (AF). Fracionamento físico foi realizado com amostras das camadas de 0-5 e 5-10 cm. Os estoques de C e N do solo foram determinados nas três profundidades e nas frações físicas, e a matéria orgânica foi caracterizada por espectroscopia de infravermelho e termogravimetria. O maior estoque de C em todas as profundidades e as frações físicas foi verificado na AF. O ambiente 23NB apresentou o menor estoque de C e N do solo na profundidade de 5-15 cm, associado ao cessar fogo e à maior densidade de pastejo. A MOS da fração leve oclusa apresentou maior recalcitrância química em 1NB do que em 23NB. A queima anual da pastagem não afeta o estoque de C até 15 cm de profundidade.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the distribution pattern and composition of soil organic matter (SOM) and its physical pools of Leptosols periodically affected by fire over the last 100 years in South Brazil. Soil samples at 0-5, 5-10, and 10-15 cm depths were collected from the following environments: native pasture without burning in the last year and grazed with 0.5 livestock per hectare per year (1NB); native pasture without burning in the last 23 years and grazed with 2.0 livestock per hectare per year (23NB); and an Araucaria forest (AF). Physical fractionation was performed with the 0-5 and 5-10 cm soil layers. Soil C and N stocks were determined in the three depths and in the physical pools, and organic matter was characterized by infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetry. The largest C stocks in all depths and physical pools were found under the AF. The 23NB environment showed the lowest soil C and N stocks at the 5-15 cm depth, which was related to the end of burning and to the higher grazing intensity. The SOM of the occluded light fraction showed a greater chemical recalcitrance in 1NB than in 23NB. Annual pasture burning does not affect soil C stocks up to 15 cm of depth.

A queima da pastagem após o inverno é uma prática antiga em solos de altitude, que visa principalmente ao rebrote da vegetação. Entretanto, o impacto do manejo da pastagem na matéria orgânica do solo de Neossolo de altitude ainda é pouco conhecido. O presente trabalho propôs-se a investigar a composição e o teor de matéria orgânica em perfis de Neossolo da região de São José dos Ausentes, RS, e relacionar os resultados com a ocorrência de queimadas e com o pastejo, empregando como comparação solo sob mata nativa. Os ambientes estudados foram: campo nativo pastejado (2 animais ha-1) sem queima há 22 anos, campo nativo pastejado sujeito à queima bienal (0,5 animal ha-1) e mata nativa adjacente à área de pastagem. Foram coletadas amostras compostas nas camadas de 0-5, 5-10, 10-15 e 15-30 cm, sendo determinados os teores de óxidos de Fe (Fe d e Fe o), de C e de N e realizadas análises de espectroscopia de infravermelho e de termogravimetria. O ambiente alterado periodicamente pelo fogo apresentou maior teor de matéria orgânica em camadas subsuperficiais e, em geral, maior proporção de estruturas quimicamente mais lábeis, comparativamente à pastagem sem queima. Nesse ambiente, o menor teor de C foi atribuído ao pastejo mais intensivo do que o da pastagem alterada pelo fogo. A distribuição de C no ambiente de mata nativa assemelhou-se à de pastagem sem queima. No entanto, na mata a proporção de matéria orgânica de baixo peso molecular extraível com solução de HCl 0,1 mol L-1, relacionada principalmente à atividade microbiana, superou aquela encontrada sob pastagem nativa.

Burning pastures after the winter is a traditional practice in highland soils, whose main purpose is the regrowth of vegetation. However, the impact of fire, as well as the influence of grazing on the organic matter of Leptosols is still unknown. The purpose of this study was to investigate the composition and content of organic matter in soil profiles from São José dos Ausentes, state of Rio Grande do Sul, and to relate the results with the occurrence of burning and grazing, in comparison with a soil under native forest. The following environments were studied: grazed native pasture (2 animals ha-1) without burning for 22 years; grazed native pasture (0.5 animals ha-1) burned every two years; and native forest adjacent to the pasture area. Composed soil samples were collected from four layers (0-5, 5-10, 10-15 and 15-30 cm) in which contents of C, of N, and of iron oxides (Fe d and Fe o) were determined and infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetry analyses performed. The subsurface layers of the fire-affected environment contained greater organic matter contents, and in general, a composition with higher proportion of chemically labile structures, in comparison with the unburned pasture. In the latter environment, the lower C content than in the burned pasture was ascribed to more intensive grazing. The C distribution in the native forest environment was similar to that of the unburned pasture. Nevertheless, in the samples under forest, the proportion of organic matter of low molecular weight, extractable with 0.1 mol L-1 HCl and related mainly to microbial activity, exceeded that of the pasture environment.
