Abstract The generation of agroindustrial waste has become a serious environmental problem, which conflicts with the need for sustainability sought by modern agriculture. An alternative that helps minimizing these effects is the use of residues, such as fruit peel, in food production. The objective of this study was to evaluate the viability of the mesocarp of the white-fleshed red pitaya (Hylocereus undatus) in the preparation of jellies, verifying the influence of different percentages of pulp replacement per mesocarp (0, 20, 40 and 60%) on the physicochemical, microbiological, and sensorial characteristics of the final products. The jellies presented good acceptability among consumers, with the 60% substitution level being the most accepted. Besides the mesocarp not altering the flavor of the jellies, its use increases the attractiveness to the consumer in addition to contributing to cost reduction and environment preservation.

Resumo A bananicultura brasileira é uma das atividades agrícolas mais praticadas no cenário nacional, podendo ser altamente produtiva e economicamente rentável ao produtor que investe em tecnologia. Objetivou-se com este trabalho comparar a viabilidade econômica de dois manejos distintos de adubação no sistema de cultivo de bananeira ‘Prata-Anã’ clone Gorutuba de 1º ciclo. O tratamento convencional de adubação (MC), adotado pelo produtor (testemunha), foi comparado com o tratamento alternativo: manejo convencional + três condicionadores de solo + um bioestimulante (MC+3CS+1B). Os quatro produtos selecionados para o tratamento alternativo foram: calcário de conchas, Celtonita, Lithothamnium calcareum e Acadian. A aplicação dos quatro produtos no tratamento MC+3CS+1B proporcionou resultados satisfatórios no desempenho da cultura, principalmente pelo aumento de 4,032 toneladas/ha-1. O manejo alternativo MC+3CS+1B foi mais viável economicamente que o MC, pois o custo operacional total (1º + 2º ano) do manejo alternativo foi 6,71% maior que no manejo convencional; entretanto, a produtividade do tratamento alternativo foi 28,08% maior. O custo para produzir uma tonelada de banana foi R$ 2.456,91 no tratamento convencional e R$ 2.047,07 no tratamento alterativo, o que representa a redução de 16,68% do custo médio, indicando a viabilidade econômica deste tratamento.

Abstract Brazilian banana farming is one of the most important agricultural activities in the national scenario and can be highly productive and economically profitable for producers who invest in technology. The objective of this work was to compare the economic viability of two different fertilization managements in the cultivation system of 1st -cycle ‘Prata Anã’ Gorutuba bananas. The conventional fertilization treatment (CM), adopted by the producer (control), was compared with the alternative treatment: conventional management + 3 soil conditioners + 1 biostimulant (CM + 3SC + 1B). The four products selected for the alternative treatment were oyster shell limestone, Celtonite, Lithothamnium calcareum and Acadian. The application of the four products in the CM + 3SC + 1B treatment provided satisfactory results on crop performance, mainly due to the increase of 4.032 tons ha-1. The CM+3CS+1B alternative management was more economically viable than CM, as the total operational cost (1st + 2nd year) of the alternative management was 6.71% higher compared to the conventional management; however, the alternative treatment productivity was 28.08% higher. The cost to produce one ton of bananas was R$ 2.456,91 in the conventional treatment and R$ 2.047,07 in the alternative treatment, which represents a 16.68% reduction in the average cost, indicating the economic feasibility of this treatment.

Resumo O aumento na produtividade deve estar atrelado ao controle efetivo dos custos de produção. Assim, o controle químico e seletivo das plantas daninhas é um método adequado, pois proporciona economia de trabalho e energia, demanda pouca mão de obra e permite o controle durante todo o ciclo de cultivo. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a sensibilidade da cultura do abacateiro aos efeitos fitotóxicos da aplicação de herbicidas em pós-emergência. O experimento foi instalado utilizando-se de sementes de abacate da cultivar Margarida e conduzido em casa de vegetação no Setor de Fruticultura do Departamento de Agricultura, da Universidade Federal de Lavras. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi de blocos ao acaso, com 4 repetições e 8 tratamentos e cada parcela experimental foi composta por três mudas. Os herbicidas paraquat, oxyfluorfen, fomesafem, carfentrazone-ethyl e glyphosate causaram danos às mudas de abacateiro e não devem ser recomendados com base na dosagem comercial utilizada. O paraquat causou a morte das plantas em 30 dias após a aplicação. Os tratamentos com Fluasifope-p- butílico e Imazetapir demonstraram ser os mais promissores para uso em área de implantação de pomares de abacateiros pois causaram menores danos à cultura.

Abstract An increase in crop productivity should be linked to the effective control of production costs. Thus, the chemical and selective control of weeds is an appropriate method because it saves labor and energy, requires little manpower, and allows control throughout the crop cycle. The present study aimed to evaluate the sensitivity of avocado seedlings to the phytotoxic effects of postemergence herbicide application. The experiment was carried out on avocado seeds of the cultivar Margarida in a greenhouse in the fruit sector of the Department of Agriculture, Federal University of Lavras. The experimental design was randomized block design, with four replicates and eight treatments, and each experimental plot consisted of three seedlings. The herbicides paraquat, oxyfluorfen, fomesafem, carfentrazone-ethyl, and glyphosate caused damage to avocado seedlings and should not be recommended based on the commercial dosage used. Paraquat caused the plants to die within 30 days after application. Fluazifop-p-butyl and imazethapyr proved to be the most promising for use in avocado orchards because they caused less damage to the crop.

Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a indução de organogênese indireta por concentrações de ácido diclorofenoxiacético (2,4-D) e tidiazurom (TDZ) em explantes de pitaia (Hylocereus undatus), por meio de microscopia eletrônica de varredura e da técnica de citometria de fluxo. Os tratamentos consistiram das concentrações de 0, 2,0 e 4,0 mg L-1 de 2,4-D e TDZ e das combinações desses reguladores. Avaliaram-se as percentagens de cobertura de calos aos 45 e 60 dias. Os explantes submetidos aos tratamentos foram analizados por citometria de fluxo e microscopia eletrônica de varredura. Todos os tratamentos induziram endorreduplicação, e não houve variação somaclonal. Na combinação de 2,0 mg L-1 TDZ e 4,0 mg L-1 2,4-D, calos foram formados em 95% dos explantes, mas foram menores do que os produzidos com 2,4-D separadamente. A concentração de 2,0 mg L-1 de TDZ induz organogênese indireta em explantes de pitaia, comprovada pela presença de vasos condutores por meio da microscopia eletrônica de varredura.

Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the induction of indirect organogenesis by concentrations of dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and thidiazuron (TDZ) in pitaya (Hylocereus undatus) explants, using scanning electron microscopy and the flow cytometry technique. The treatments consisted of the concentrations of 0, 2.0, and 4.0 mg L-1 2,4-D and TDZ and of the combinations of these regulators. Percentages of callus coverage at 45 and 60 days were evaluated. The explants subjected to the treatments were analized by flow cytometry and scanning electron microscopy. All treatments induced endoreduplication, and there was no somaclonal variation. Under the combination of 2.0 mg L-1 TDZ and 4.0 mg L-1 2,4-D, calluses were formed in 95% of the explants, but were smaller than those produced with 2,4-D separately. The concentration of 2.0 mg L-1 TDZ induces the indirect organogenesis in pitaya explants, confirmed by the presence of conducting vessels through scanning electron microscopy.

ABSTRACT Banana (Musa spp.) is a crop with outstanding economic and social expression throughout the world. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of different mulches types in growth production and postharvest of banana ‘BRS Platina’ not irrigated. The experiment was conducted in the farm of the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA). Micropropagated banana plants of the cultivar BRS were planted in the field with a spacing of 2.5 × 3.0 m (1333 plants ·ha-1), without irrigation. About 20 days after planting, different mulches were installed: black polyethylene films, double-sided polyethylene films (white and black), organic mulch (from the own crop) and control (bare soil). The experimental was set up in a randomized block design with four treatments, six blocks and six plants per treatment, totaling 144 plants. Among the six plants used in each treatment, two constituted the border, therefore four plants were evaluated. The analysis performed in the first and second crop were: growth analysis, postharvest quality, production and productivity. Both organic and inorganic (plastic film) mulch provide greater growth and yield of banana ‘BRS Platina’ not irrigated, in two years of production and can be used in the cultivation of this crop.

Resumo A fruticultura tem grande importância no agronegócio brasileiro, pois o País é o terceiro maior produtor mundial de frutas. Apesar dessa notabilidade, o mercado de frutas apresenta entraves especialmente relacionados ao comércio internacional. Assim, o presente trabalho buscou determinar o posicionamento e a evolução do Brasil frente ao mercado internacional de frutas in natura. Os dados para a pesquisa foram obtidos a partir da Organização das Nações Unidas para Alimentação e Agricultura (FAO) (1986 a 2017) e Banco Mundial (2018), utilizando métricas de fluxo de exportação, quantidade e renda dos países em questão, relacionados às principais frutas exportadas pelo Brasil no primeiro trimestre de 2020. Os dados foram manipulados, transformados em figuras e grafos para melhor visualização das informações. O posicionamento do Brasil no ranking de exportação de frutas in natura mostrou-se pouco dinâmico durante o período avaliado, sendo dependente da demanda de países europeus de renda alta.

Abstract The fruit growing activity is of great importance for Brazilian agribusiness as the country is the third largest fruit producer in the world. Despite this notability, the fruit market presents obstacles especially related to international trade. Thus, the present study sought to determine the positioning and evolution of Brazil in the international fresh fruit market. Data used in the research were obtained from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) (1986 to 2017) and the World Bank (2018), using metrics of export flow, quantity and income of countries related to the main fruits exported by Brazil in the first quarter of 2020. Data were manipulated, transformed into figures and graphs for better visualization of information. The Brazilian position in the in the ranking of fresh fruit exports was not very dynamic during the evaluation period, being dependent on the demand from high-income European countries.

Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a viabilidade da microenxertia de pitaia amarela (Selenicereus megalanthus) sobre diferentes microporta-enxertos, com base em análises de conteúdo de DNA e anatômicas. Os porta-enxertos utilizados foram: pitaia amarela, pitaia branca (Hylocereus undatus), pitaia Saborosa (Selenicereus setaceus), e as variedades Cebra e Orejona de pitaia vermelha (Hylocereus polyrhizus). O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado, com cinco tratamentos e quatro repetições de cinco plantas. Após 30 dias de cultivo, avaliaram-se as seguintes características: comprimento e diâmetro dos microenxertos e dos microporta-enxertos; e comprimento de raízes, percentagem de pegamento e massa fresca dos microenxertos. Realizaram-se análises de citometria de fluxo antes e depois da microenxertia, para verificação da estabilidade genética e da ocorrência de endoreduplicação. Além disso, foram feitos cortes histológicos na região da microenxertia, para verificação das conexões dos vasos e dos tecidos entre o enxerto e o porta-enxerto. Observou-se endoreduplicação em todos os tratamentos. A quantidade de DNA do microenxerto de pitaia amarela aumentou sobre a variedade vermelha Orejona. Verificou-se a presença de conexões de vasos entre os microenxertos e os microporta-enxertos. A pitaia amarela também foi mais vigorosa quando enxertada sobre Orejona. Com base nas análises de conteúdo de DNA e anatômicas, a microenxertia de pitaia amarela in vitro é viável em todos os porta-enxertos utilizados.

Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the viability of the micrografting of yellow dragon fruit (Selenicereus megalanthus) on different rootstocks, based on DNA content and anatomical analyses. The used rootstocks were: yellow dragon fruit, white dragon fruit (Hylocereus undatus), Saborosa (Selenicereus setaceus) dragon fruit, and the Cebra and Orejona red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) varieties. The experimental design was completely randomized with five treatments and four replicates of five plants. After 30 days of cultivation, the following traits were evaluated: length and diameter of the micrografts and microrootstocks; and root length, percentage of setting, and fresh mass of the micrografts. Flow cytometry analyzes were performed before and after micrografting to verify genetic stability and the occurrence of endoreduplication. In addition, histological sections were made in the micrografting region to verify the connections of vessels and tissues between the graft and the rootstock. Endoreduplication was observed in all treatments. The amount of DNA in the yellow dragon fruit micrograft increased on the red Orejona variety. The presence of vessel connections was verified between the micrografts and microrootstocks. The yellow dragon fruit was also more vigorous when grafted on Orejona. Based on DNA content and anatomical analyses, in vitro yellow dragon fruit micrografting is feasible in all used rootstocks.

ABSTRACT. Given the high demand for food worldwide, options for maximizing food production with minimum environmental impact are needed. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of silicon (Si) and methyl jasmonate (MeJA) in the vegetative development and genetic stability of rice plants, BRSMG Caravera cultivar. The treatments used were T1 - Control group (without Si and MeJA); T2 - Tween foliar; and T3 - Si drench, T4 - MeJA foliar, and T5 - Si drench + MeJA foliar. The use of Si or Si + MeJA promoted an increase in the height, relative chlorophyll index (RCI), and fresh and dry masses, in addition to a greater Si accumulation in the plants. However, there was no difference in the quantity of DNA or in the coefficient of variation (CV) among the treatments, proving the use of silicon separately or in combination with methyl jasmonate contributed to the vegetative development and did not affect the genetic stability of the plants.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da adubação silicatada nas trocas gasosas, na anatomia foliar e nas características ultraestruturais de maracujazeiro (Passiflora edulis). Os tratamentos consistiram em quatro concentrações (0, 0,28, 0,55, e 0,83 g por vaso) de silício, na forma de solução de ácido silícico (SiO2.XH2O) a 1%. Esta solução foi aplicada ao redor do caule das plantas. A primeira aplicação foi realizada 15 dias após o transplantio das mudas. No total, foram realizadas três aplicações, em intervalos de 15 dias. Os vasos que constituíram o controle (testemunha) receberam água na mesma quantidade. Após a última aplicação, as plantas foram submetidas a análises de trocas gasosas, alterações anatômicas e características ultraestruturais. O uso de silício promove mudanças anatômicas em mudas de maracujazeiro, como o aumento da espessura da epiderme adaxial, a redução do parênquima paliçádico e a maior relação diâmetro polar/diâmetro equatorial, que está relacionada à funcionalidade dos estômatos. As concentrações de 0,55 e 0,83 g de silício por vaso proporcionam maiores taxas fotossintéticas, de transpiração e de condutância estomática das mudas de maracujazeiro. A concentração de 0,83 g de silício por vaso proporciona maior deposição de silício na epiderme abaxial da superfície foliar.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of silicon fertilization on gas exchange, leaf anatomy, and ultrastructural characteristics of passion fruit (Passiflora edulis). The treatments comprised four concentrations of silicon (0, 0.28, 0.55, and 0.83 g per pot) at 1% silicic acid solution (SiO2.XH2O). This solution was applied around the stems of the plants. The first application was made 15 days after seedlings were transplanted. In total, three applications were made at 15-day intervals. The pots that constituted the control treatment received water in the same amount. After the final application, the plants were subjected to analyses of gas exchange, anatomical changes, and ultrastructural characteristics. The use of silicon promotes anatomical changes in passion fruit seedlings, such as increased adaxial epidermis thickness, reduced palisade parenchyma, and increased polar diameter/equatorial diameter ratio, which is related to stomata functionality. The concentrations of 0.55 and 0.83 g silicon per pot provide higher rates of photosynthesis, of transpiration, and stomatal conductance. The concentration of 0.83 g silicon per pot results in the greatest deposition of silicon in the abaxial epidermis of leaf surface.

RESUMO. Butia capitata (Mart.) Becc. é uma palmeira nativa do bioma Cerrado, popularmente denominada coquinho azedo. Espécie considerada em extinção, devido a exploração extrativista intensiva de seus frutos, apresentando como agravante a propagação seminífera lenta e desuniforme. Por isso, existem alguns gargalos relacionados a produção dessa palmeira que precisa ser otimizado. A qualidade e intensidade de luz são muito importantes para a produção de mudas, pois controla o metabolismo das plantas e consequentemente seu crescimento e desenvolvimento. Assim, objetivou-se avaliar o efeito de malhas fotoconversoras no crescimento e aspectos fisiológicos de mudas de coquinho azedo. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado, com cinco tratamentos, dez repetições e oito plantas por repetição, totalizando 400 plantas. Os tratamentos consistiram da utilização de malhas fotoconversoras com 50% de sombreamento, sob diferentes radiações proporcionadas: branca (985 µmol m-2 s-1), vermelha (327 µmol m-2 s-1), preta (433 µmol m-2 s-1), e prata (405 µmol m-2 s-1). As plantas mantidas a pleno sol (1000 µmol m-2 s-1) foram consideradas como o tratamento controle. Após seis meses foram realizadas análises de crescimento e fisiológicas. Conclui-se que a malha vermelha proporciona maior crescimento e aumento de biomassa das plantas de Butia capitata. No entanto, o uso de malhas fotoconversoras não influenciam nas características fisiológicas dessa espécie. A malha vermelha é a mais adequada para a produção de mudas de Butia capitata nas condições do Sul de Minas Gerais.

ABSTRACT. Butia capitata (Mart.) Becc., commonly known as jelly palm, is a palm tree native to the Cerrado biome. It is considered an endangered species owing to intensive extractive exploitation of its fruits, with slow and uneven seminiferous propagation as an aggravating factor. Thereby, there are some bottlenecks related to jelly palm seedling production that needs to be optimized. Light quality and intensity is very important to seedling production, as it controls the metabolism of plants and consequently their growth and development. Thus, the aim of this work is to evaluate the effect of shade nets on the growth and physiological aspects of jelly palm seedlings. The experimental design was completely randomized, with five treatments, ten replicates and eight plants per replicate, totaling 400 plants. Experimental treatments consisted of the use of shade nets with 50% shading and different radiation intensity: white (985 µmol m-2 s-1), red (327 µmol m-2 s-1), black (433 µmol m-2 s-1), and silver (405 µmol m-2 s-1). Full sun (1000 µmol m-2 s-1) was used as the control treatment. Growth and physiological analyses of the plants were performed after six months of treatment. We concluded that the red shade net increases growth and biomass of Butia capitata plants. However, the use of shade nets had no effect on the tested physiological characteristics of this species. The red shade net is the most suitable for the production of Butia capitata seedlings in the southern region conditions of Minas Gerais State.

RESUMO A pitaia é uma cactácea frutífera originária das florestas tropicais da América do Sul e Central. Produz frutos não convencionais muito apreciados, com grande potencial para diversificação do setor. É propagada preferencialmente por estaquia, proporcionando aumento na precocidade e uniformidade dos pomares. Com o intuito de maximizar a produção de mudas, objetivou-se avaliar diferentes concentrações de ácido indol-3-butírico (AIB) e de três tipos de substratos na produção de mudas de pitaia (Hylocereus undatus). O experimento foi conduzido em delineamento experimental em blocos casualizados, no esquema fatorial 5x3 (concentrações de AIB: 0, 1000, 2000, 3000 e 4000 mg L-1 x substratos: areia, areia + solo, solo), com três repetições. Após 120 dias avaliaram-se: número e comprimento de cladódios e a biomassa fresca e seca de raízes e parte aérea. Os resultados foram submetidos à análise de variância, as médias dos substratos agrupadas pelo teste de Scott-Knott e o efeito do AIB foi avaliado pela análise de regressão. Verificou-se efeito significativo da interação entre doses de AIB e tipos de substratos apenas para a variável número de cladódios. A imersão das estacas em solução com AIB resultou em diferenças significativas nas características fitotécnicas: número e comprimento dos cladódios, biomassa fresca das raízes e parte aérea. A significância dos substratos ocorreu para as variáveis biomassa fresca e seca das raízes. A faixa compreendida entre 1776,33 e 2299 mg L-1 de AIB proporciona maior crescimento de mudas de pitaia. O substrato areia promove maior enraizamento das mudas.

ABSTRACT Dragon fruit is a fruit cactus originating in the tropical rainforests of South and Central America. It produces unconventional fruits that are much appreciated, with great potential for diversification of the sector. It is propagated preferentially by cutting, providing increase in the precocity and uniformity of the orchards. In order to maximize the production of seedlings, the objective was to evaluate different concentrations of indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) and three types of substrates in the production of dragon fruit seedlings ((Hylocereus undatus). The experiment was conducted in experimental design was a randomized complete block design with factorial 5x3 (IBA concentrations - 0, 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000 mg L-1 x substrates - sand, sand and soil, soil) with three reapplications. After 120 planting the cuttings, the following characteristics were evaluated: number of lateral cladodes, length of cladodes, fresh roots biomass, dry roots biomass, fresh shoot biomass and dry shoot biomass. The results of the variables were subjected to variance analysis and the substrates were grouped by Scott-Knott test and the effect of the IBA was evaluated by regression. There was a significant effect of the interaction between IBA doses and substrate types only for the variable number of cladodes. The immersion of the cuttings in solution with IBA resulted in significant differences in the phytotechnical characteristics: number and length of the cladodes, fresh biomass of the roots and aerial part. The significance of the substrates occurred for the fresh and dry biomass of the roots. The range between 1776.33 and 2299 mg L-1 of IBA provides greater growth of dragon fruit seedlings. The substrate sand promotes greater rooting of the seedlings.

Objetivou-se induzir a formação de calos em Jatropha curcas L., avaliar a ultraestrutura e o comportamento citoquímico dos calos. Os calos foram induzidos com 2,4-D, picloran, cinetina e BAP: (1) testemunha; (2) 4,52 µM 2,4-D; (3) 9,04 µM 2,4-D; (4) 4,14 µM PIC; (5) 8,28 µM PIC; (6) 4,52 µM 2,4-D + 2,32 µM KIN; (7) 9,04 µM 2,4-D + 4,64 µM KIN; (8) 4,14 µM PIC + 2,32 µM KIN; (9) 8,28 µM PIC + 4,64 µM KIN; (10) 4,52 µM 2,4-D + 2,22 µM BAP; (11) 9,04 µM 2,4-D + 4,44 µM BAP; (12) 4,14 µM PIC + 2,22 µM BAP and (13) 8,28 µM PIC + 4,44 µM BAP. Foi avaliado a porcentagem de cobertura dos explantes por calos (%CEC), microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV) e dupla coloração com carmim acético/azul de evans. A calogênese é otimizada em meio MS acrescido de 4,52 µM de 2,4-D, condição em que pela análise de microscopia eletrônica de varredura e dupla coloração carmim acético/azul de evans há expressão de potencial embriogênico nos calos de J. curcas.

This study aimed to induce callus formation in Jatropha curcas L. and to evaluate the ultrastructure and cytochemical behavior of the calli. Calluses were induced with 2,4-D, picloram-PIC, kinetin (Kin) and BAP: (1) control; (2) 4.52 µM 2,4-D; (3) 9.04 µM 2,4-D; (4) 4.14 µM PIC; (5) 8.28 µM PIC; (6) 4.52 µM 2,4-D + 2.32 µM KIN; (7) 9.04 µM 2,4-D + 4.64 µM KIN; (8) 4.14 µM PIC + 2.32 µM KIN; (9) 8.28 µM PIC + 4.64 µM KIN; (10) 4.52 µM 2,4-D + 2.22 µM BAP; (11) 9.04 µM 2,4-D + 4.44 µM BAP; (12) 4.14 µM PIC + 2.22 µM BAP and (13) 8.28 µM PIC + 4.44 µM BAP. It was evaluated the percent coverage of the explants by callus (% CEC) and performed scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and acetocarmine/Evans blue double staining to analyze the embryogenic potential of the calli. As shown by scanning electron microscopy and acetocarmine/Evans blue staining, we found that J. curcas callus formation was optimal with 4.52 µM of 2,4-D.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de diferentes fontes de silício durante a fase de enraizamento in vitro de bananeira 'Maçã' por meio de análise fisiológica, fitotécnica e ultraestrutural. Foram utilizados propágulos já estabelecidos in vitro e inoculados em meio MURASHIGE & SKOOG (MS), adicionado de 30g L-1 de sacarose, 1mg L-1 de ANA (ácido naftalenoacético) e solidificado com 1,8g L-1 de PhytagelTM. Foram testadas três fontes de silicato acrescidas ao meio MS, silicato de sódio, silicato de potássio e silicato de cálcio, na dosagem de 1g L-1 e o meio MS sem silicato como testemunha. O delineamento experimental foi o inteiramente casualizado, com quinze repetições. Os propágulos foram mantidos por 45 dias em sala de crescimento, sob condições controladas. Verificou-se aumento nos teores de clorofila a, b e total na presença de silicato de cálcio. A suplementação do meio de cultura com silicato de sódio promoveu aumento de comprimento, massa fresca e seca de parte aérea. O silício proporciona adequado desenvolvimento das plântulas.

The objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of different sources of silicon during the in vitro rooting phase of 'Maçã' banana tree by means of physiological, phytotechnical and ultrastructural analysis. It was used propagules already established in vitro which were inoculated in MURASHIGE & SKOOG (MS) medium, added of 30g L-1 of sucrose, 1mg L-1 of NAA (naphthalene acetic acid) and solidified with 1.8g L-1 of PhytagelTM. It was tested three sources of silicate added to MS medium, sodium silicate, potassium silicate and calcium silicate, at a dose of 1g L-1 and MS medium without silicate as a witness. The experimental design was completely randomized with fifteen replicates. The propagules were kept for 45 days in a growth room under controlled conditions. There was an increase in levels of chlorophyll a, b and total in the presence of calcium silicate. Supplementation of culture medium with sodium silicate promoted increase in length, fresh and dry weight of shoots. The silicon provides adequate seedling development.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar descritores morfológicos que possibilitassem a caracterização de cultivares de bananeira provenientes de micropropagação ainda na fase juvenil. Foram utilizadas 12 cultivares de bananeira de diferentes grupos genômicos e graus de ploidia, que foram cultivadas in vitro e posteriormente aclimatizadas em casa de vegetação. Após o período de três meses, foram avaliadas características morfológicas quantitativas e caracteres descritivos das plantas. Com base nos resultados obtidos, foi possível separar todas as cultivares estudadas e elaborar uma chave analítica que permite a identificação dessas cultivares após o período de apenas três meses de aclimatização.

The aim of this study was to determine morphological descriptors that could enable the characterization of banana cultivars from micropropagation process during the juvenile phase. Twelve cultivars from different genomic groups and with different ploidy levels were grown in vitro and acclimatized in greenhouse for three months. After this period, plants quantitative morphological and descriptive characteristics were evaluated. The results allowed ranking the cultivars and preparing an analytical key to identify these cultivars after the period of three months of acclimatization.

O araticum ou marolo (Annona crassiflora Mart.) é uma fruta típica de Cerrado com grande importância sócio-econômico e medicinal. Sua propagação pode ser feita através de sementes, porém devido à dormência das sementes e dificuldade de se obterem plantas uniformes e em curto espaço de tempo, a micropropagação poderá ser uma alternativa. Estudaram-se os efeitos do GA3 associado ao ANA sobre a germinação de sementes e desenvolvimento in vitro de marolo. Frutos maduros foram despolpados e suas sementes lavadas e secas. Em seguida retirou-se o tegumento das sementes e estas foram colocadas em tubos contendo 20 mL de meio MS, acrescido de GA3 e ANA. Ao meio foram adicionados 30 g L-1 de sacarose e 6g L-1 de ágar, permanecendo nestas condições por 30 dias. Ao final dos 30 dias, as plântulas foram colocadas em meio WPM, acrescido de 20 g L-1 de sacarose, 5 g L-1 de ágar e suplementado das mesmas concentrações de GA3 e ANA da etapa anterior, onde permaneceram por 90 dias. Melhores resultados em meio WPM para todas as variáveis analisadas foram obtidos na faixa de 25-32 mg L-1 de GA3. Em meio MS a interação significativa foi observada apenas no comprimento da parte aérea e número de raízes, nos quais melhores resultados foram verificados com 26,92 - 30,13 mg L-1 de GA3 associado a 2 mg L-1 de ANA.

Annona crassiflora Mart known as 'araticum', 'marolo' or 'field araticum' is a typical fruit from the Cerrado biome of Brazil with socio-economic and medicinal importance. Normally, Annona crassiflora is propagated through seeds. However, due to a deep dormancy that the seeds display at dispersion and the difficulty to obtain uniform plants in a short time period, micropropagation may be a feasible alternative. Concentrations of gibberellic acid (GA3) and naphthalene-acetic acid (NAA) and their interactive effects on in vitro seed germination and seedling development of Annona crassiflora were studied. Mature fruits of Annona crassiflora were depulped and the seeds washed in clear water and dried at room temperature. Seed coat was removed and the seeds were placed on Murashige & Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with gibberellic acid (GA3) and naphthalene-acetic acid (NAA), 30 g L-1 sucrose and 6 g L-1 agar-agar. Seeds were kept under these conditions for 30 days. After this period, seedlings were kept for another 90 days on Wood Plant Medium (WPM) with 20 g L-1 sucrose and 5 g L-1 agar-agar supplemented with the same GA3 and NAA concentrations. Cultures were incubated under controlled conditions at 25 ± 2°C temperature, 16: 8 (light: dark) photoperiod of 32 µmol m-2 s-1 irradiance provided by cool white fluorescent tubes (Philips). Use of WPM medium supplemented with 25-32 mg L-1 GA3 or MS with 26-30 mg L-1 GA3 and 2 mg L-1 NAA promoted rooting and plant growth.
