RESUMO A antracnose é uma doença que ataca a cultura do feijoeiro (Phaseolus vulgaris) resultando em perdas que podem chegar 100% em uma lavoura, se esta não for controlada previamente. O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar possíveis diferenças em taxas de transmissão semente-plântula entre as raças 65, 73 e 81 do fungo Colletotrichum lindemuthianum isoladas de sementes de feijão, do cultivar Líder, pertencente à classe branco. As sementes foram inoculadas por meio de restrição hídrica no meio Mathur, modificado osmoticamente com sacarose no potencial osmótico de -1,0 Mpa. Foram semeadas 100 sementes infectadas com cada raça, divididas em quatro repetições de 25 sementes por bandeja, usando como testemunha sementes não inoculadas artificialmente. O comprimento das plântulas foi individualmente observado assim como o peso seco de cada parcela. Os resultados indicam que existem diferenças nas taxas de transmissão entre as raças de C. lindemuthianum. As taxas de transmissão foram de 75,85; 80,68 e 70,51%, para as raças 65, 73 e 81, respectivamente. As plântulas infectadas apresentaram menor comprimento do sistema radicular, porém, não demonstraram diferenças em tamanho de parte aérea e peso seco, em relação à testemunha. Conclui-se que o fungo C. lindemuthianum apresenta taxas de transmissão sementeplanta que variam de 70 a 80% e o patógeno, independentemente de raças, pode interferir negativamente no sistema radicular de Phaseolus vulgaris.

ABSTRACT Anthracnose is a disease that attacks the bean crop (Phaseolus vulgaris) and if not previously controlled results in losses of up to 100%. The objective of this study was to verify possible differences in seedplant transmission rates among races 65, 73 and 81 of Colletotrichum lindemuthianum isolated from bean seeds of the “Lider” cultivar. The seeds were inoculated by the water restriction technique in Mathur’s medium modified with sucrose at the osmotic potential –1.0 Mpa. One hundred infected seeds were sowed for each race, divided in 4 repetitions of 25 seeds per tray. Non-inoculated seeds were used as the control. The length of the individual plants was observed as well as the dry weight of each plot. The results indicate that there are differences in the transmission rates among races of C. lindemuthianum. The transmission rates were 75.85, 80.68 and 70.51% respectively for the races 65, 73 and 81. Infected plants showed smaller length of the root system without showing differences in the size of the aerial part nor in dry weight, in relation to the control.

RESUMO A elevada incidência de manchas em grãos de arroz tem sido motivo de preocupação dos produtores de arroz irrigado. Esse trabalho teve como objetivo detectar a ocorrência de Alternaria padwickii em lotes de sementes de arroz produzidas em diferentes regiões orizícolas do RS e também verificar o efeito desse patógeno sobre plântulas. O trabalho foi realizado no Laboratório de Patologia de Sementes da FAEM/UFPel. Foram analisados 123 lotes de sementes de arroz provenientes de 27 cultivares oriundas de quatro regiões do Rio Grande do Sul cedidas pela Embrapa Clima Temperado e pelo Instituto Rio Grandense do Arroz. As amostras foram analisadas pelo método do papel de filtro. Para verificar o efeito d fungo sobre as plântulas foram selecionadas 100 sementes infectadas por A. padwickii e 100 sementes sadias (testemunha) a partir do método do papel de filtro, sendo estas transferidas individualmente para copos plásticos de 50 mL de capacidade, contendo vermiculita de granulometria fina. Após 21 dias de incubação, avaliou-se a porcentagem de plântulas que emergiram e, com auxílio de uma régua, mediu-se o comprimento da parte aérea (PA) e sistema radicular (SR). A partir do teste de sanidade verificou-se que a região de Camaquã foi a que apresentou maior incidência de A. Padwickii (10,61%). A presença do fungo reduziu em 88,0% a emergência das plântulas e, em 36,6% o comprimento da parte aérea, 25,5% do sistema radicular.

ABSTRACT The growing incidence of kernel spots has been worrying irrigated rice producers. This study was aimed to detect the occurrence of Alternaria padwickii in lots of rice seeds produced in different regions of RS and also to verify the effect of this pathogen on plantlets. The work was carried out in the Seed Pathology Laboratory of FAEM/UFPel. Samples of 123 rice seed lots from 27 varieties from the seed laboratories of Embrapa Temperate Climate and IRGA, the Rice Institute of Rio Grande do Sul State, representing the four main rice regions of the state, were analyzed by blotter test method. For the transmission test, 100 seeds infected only by A. padwickii and 100 healthy seeds (as a control) were selected from the blotter tests, and transferred individually to 50-mL plastic cups with vermiculite. After 21 days of incubation the emerged plants were counted and the length of the aerial part and root system was measured. The results of the blotter test indicated the Camaquã region as presenting the higher incidence (10.61%). The fungus reduced emergence by 88.0%, the length of the aerial part in the surviving plants by 36.6%, and the length of the root system by 25.5%.
