RESUMO: A interação inibitória entre plantas pode ser uma importante estratégia de Manejo Integrado de Plantas Daninhas (MIPD). Objetivou-se investigar os efeitos inibitórios do cultivo de sorgo sobre a fitossociologia e infestação de plantas daninhas no cultivo e após a colheita. Para isso, um experimento foi realizado no campo, em blocos casualizados no esquema de parcelas subdivididas. As parcelas foram os cultivos do sorgo e do milho (testemunha), e as subparcelas, diferentes datas de avaliação da comunidade de plantas daninhas após a colheita das culturas (DAC) (0, 20, 40, 60 e 80 dias). Houve acréscimo no número de espécies e de famílias botânicas após a colheita. A degradação da palhada do sorgo e do milho atingiu a estabilização aos 60 DAC. Embora o sorgo tenha apresentado menor quantidade de palha e menor cobertura do solo, a infestação de plantas daninhas foi, em média, 30% inferior em relação às áreas com cultivo de milho. O sorgo apresenta efeito inibitório sobre algumas espécies de plantas daninhas, influenciando a fitossociologia, notadamente nos primeiros 40 dias após a sua colheita, podendo ser utilizado como parte da estratégia de Manejo Integrado de Plantas Daninhas (MIPD).

ABSTRACT: The inhibitory interaction between plants may be an important strategy of integrated weed management (IWM). This study aimed to investigate the inhibitory effects of sorghum on phytosociology and infestation of weeds during cultivation and after harvest. An experiment was carried out in the field in a randomized block design in a split-plot arrangement. Plots consisted of sorghum and corn (control) and subplots were composed of different periods of weed community assessment after crop harvest (DAH) (0, 20, 40, 60, and 80 days). An increased number of species and botanical families was observed after harvest. Degradation of sorghum and corn straw reached the stabilization at 60 DAH. Although sorghum has presented a lower amount of straw and soil cover, weed infestation was, on average, 30% lower in relation to areas cultivated with corn. Sorghum showed an inhibitory effect on some weed species, influencing phytosociology, especially during the first 40 DAH, and can be used as part of IWM strategy.

Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar os efeitos da deriva de formulações comerciais de glyphosate no desenvolvimento de plantas jovens de maracujazeiro amarelo. O trabalho foi realizado em casa de vegetação do Departamento de Fitotecnia da Universidade Federal de Viçosa, durante o período de março a abril de 2007. Foi utilizado o delineamento experimental de blocos casualizados, em esquema fatorial 3 x 4 + 1, em que três foram as formulações de glyphosate e cinco foram as doses utilizadas acrescidas de testemunha sem herbicida. O trabalho foi conduzido com cinco repetições, sendo cada planta considerada como parcela experimental. As formulações comerciais aplicadas foram Roundup Transorb®, Roundup Original® e Zapp QI®, utilizando-se as seguintes doses (g e.a ha-1): 43,2; 86,4; 172,8; e 345,6 g ha-1. Aos 28 dias após a aplicação (DAA), avaliaram-se os comprimentos da parte aérea, da raiz e total (cm); o diâmetro do caule (mm); o número de folhas e de ramificações primárias; a massa seca da parte aérea e da raiz das plantas (g); e a área foliar por planta (cm²). Aos 7, 14 e 28 DAA, avaliou-se, visualmente, a porcentagem de intoxicação das plantas. O glyphosate em deriva simulada, independentemente das formulações utilizadas, ocasionou injúrias no maracujazeiro amarelo, acarretando redução no crescimento e desenvolvimento das plantas. As formulações Roundup Transorb® e Roundup Original® foram mais prejudiciais às plantas que o Zapp Qi®. O maracujazeiro amarelo mostrou-se suscetível à deriva, devendo o glyphosate ser usado com cuidado, de maneira a atingir somente as plantas daninhas a serem controladas.

The aim of this work was to evaluate the effects of drift simulation of commercial formulations of glyphosate on the growth of young plants of yellow passion fruit. The work was carried out at the Plant Science Department of the Universidade Federal de Viçosa (MG), Brazil, from March to April 2007. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized block design, with five replications, in a factorial 3 x 4 + 1, consisting of three glyphosate formulations and five doses, (one being the control without herbicide). Each plot was constituted by one plant. The applied doses of glyphosate were 43.2; 86.4; 172.8 and 345.6 g ha-1, using the commercial formulations: Roundup Transorb®, Roundup Original® and Zapp QI®. After 28 days of application, aerial part, root and total length (cm), stem diameter (mm), number of leaves and primary ramifications, aerial part and root dry mass,(g) and the foliar area per plant (cm²) were evaluated. After 7, 14 and 28 application days, intoxication percentage of the plants was also evaluated. Regardless of the formulations used, glyphosate drift simulation caused injury to the yellow passion fruit, reducing plant growth. The herbicides Roundup Transorb® and Roundup Original® were more harmful than Zapp Qi®. The yellow passion fruit was susceptible to drift simulation; thus, glyphosate must be used carefully, so as to reach only the weeds to be controlled.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar os efeitos da deriva de glyphosate e triclopyr sobre plantas jovens de pessegueiro, bem como o comportamento destas quando submetidas à deriva de glyphosate com tratamento prévio de fungicida. No experimento 1, a simulação da deriva foi feita por aplicação de subdoses dos herbicidas glyphosate (43,2; 86,4; 172,8; e 345,8 g ha-1), triclopyr (14,4; 28,8; 57,6; e 115,2 g ha-1) e pela mistura de glyphosate + triclopyr (43,2 + 24,4; 86,4 + 28,8; e 172,8 + 57,6 g ha-1), constituindo os tratamentos. O experimento 2 foi num fatorial 2 x 6 [fungicida (presença e ausência de aplicação) x subdoses de glyphosate (0; 43,2; 86,4; 129,6; 172,8; e 345,6 g ha-1)]. No experimento 1, plantas tratadas com glyphosate e triclopyr nas doses de 345,6 e 57,6 g e.a. ha-1, respectivamente, apresentaram maiores percentuais de intoxicação, não havendo efeito da deriva destes herbicidas no desenvolvimento inicial. No experimento 2, as doses de glyphosate influenciaram o desenvolvimento inicial das plantas, com efeitos proporcionais ao aumento das doses. O fungicida não influenciou o desenvolvimento inicial, mas a porcentagem de intoxicação foi maior em plantas tratadas, indicando possível efeito sinérgico entre os defensivos testados.

The aim of this work was to evaluate the effects of glyphosate and triclopyr drift on the initial growth of peach tree seedlings, as well as the behavior of these seedlings when submitted to glyphosate drift with fungicidal treatment. In Experiment 1, simulation drift was performed by applying glyphosate (43.2; 86.4; 172.8 and 345.8 g ha-1 ), triclopyr (14.4; 28.8; 57.6 and 115.2 g ha-1 ) and the mixture glyphosate + triclopyr (43.2 + 24.4; 86.4 + 28.8 and 172.8 + 57.6 g ha-1), as the treatments. Experiment 2 was arranged in a 2 x 6 factorial scheme [fungicide (with and without of application) x reduced rates of glyphosate (0; 43.2; 86.4; 129.6; 172.8 and 345.6 g ha-1)]. In Experiment 1, peach seedlings treated with glyphosate and triclopyr; 345.6 g and 57.6 g ha-1, respectively, presented the highest intoxication percentage, with no drift effect being verified on plant growth. In Experiment 2, the glyphosate doses applied influenced initial plant growth, with the effects being proportional to increase of the doses. The fungicide did not influence peach seedling growth, but the intoxication percentage was higher in the plants treated, indicating a possible synergistic effect among the herbicides tested.
