Resumo: O artigo analisa a tônica de políticas educacionais para a Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA), tendo como foco a modalidade nas unidades penais brasileiras. A partir desse movimento se estabelecem relações com as pesquisas no campo que tratam do trabalho de professores nos espaços de privação e restrição de liberdade. A produção, com abordagem qualitativa, é fruto de estudos bibliográficos e análises documentais. As reflexões apresentadas permitem compreender aspectos das diretrizes educacionais e de estudos na área, articulados às consequências para o trabalho docente, em vista de disputas e consensos produzidos no contexto das reformas neoliberais.

Abstract: This paper analyzes the emphasis of educational policies for Youth and Adult Education (EJA), focusing on the modality in Brazilian penal units. From this movement, relationships established with research in the field that deals with the work of teachers in spaces of deprivation and restriction of freedom. The production, with a qualitative approach, is the result of bibliographic studies and documentary analysis. The reflections presented allow us to understand aspects of educational guidelines and studies in the area, articulated to the consequences for teaching work, given clashes and consensus produced in the context of neoliberal reforms.

RESUMO: O significado que se pretende dar a estas reflexões sobre a instituição prisão como espaço de promoção de experiências educativas às pessoas que se encontram em situação de privação de liberdade caminha por três eixos: transversalidade no sistema prisional, transversalidade nas práticas sociais e transversalidade nas ações educativas. A discussão na perspectiva da transversalidade, em nosso entender, está atrelada à compreensão de que a educação acontece ao longo da vida e em todo lugar e, portanto, pensar as diferentes práticas sociais escolares e não escolares que acontecem no interior das unidades prisionais nos parece uma forma de abrir brechas, pequenas fendas que possam anunciar possibilidades de enfrentamento dos paradoxos entre punir e educar. Por outro lado, a perspectiva da transversalidade nos permite elaborar propostas de aprendizagens significativas no aprisionamento e que podem assegurar o convívio com o mundo doméstico quando adquirir a liberdade.

ABSTRACT: The meaning we intend to give to these reflections about the prison institution, as a space for promoting educational experience for people who are in situation of liberty deprivation, is based on three axes: transverse nature in the prison system; transverse nature in social practices; and transverse nature in educational activities. The transversal discussion is linked to the understanding that education happens throughout life and everywhere. Thus, thinking about the different school and non-school social practices taking place inside prisons seems like a way to find new opportunities that may lead to the possibility of coping with the paradox between punishing and teaching. On the other hand, the prospect of a transverse approach enables us to develop learning propositions that are meaningful for the prison system and that ensure that learners live a normal life once they are released.

RESUMO:A intenção deste artigo é tecer reflexões sobre o papel da educação escolar para jovens e adultos em um espaço singular: a prisão. Esta instituição se propõe a (re)inserir pessoas à vida em sociedade, melhor preparadas para o convívio social e dotadas de conhecimentos, habilidades e valores que, na maioria das vezes, não tiveram assegurados ao longo da vida. Nos espaços prisionais é fundamental a escuta de pessoas que são silenciadas pelas normas do sistema e abrir espaços para as narrativas de vida é dar-lhes oportunidade de saber-se no passado-presente. Nessa perspectiva, a Educação para Jovens e Adultos em espaços de privação de liberdade deve estar pautada nos ideais da educação popular, que tem o homem e a vida como centro do processo educativo, e em que o aprender a ler, escrever e interpretar perpasse esse movimento de (re)construção da cidadania e de humanização das pessoas.

ABSTRACT:The intent of this paper is to present reflections on the role of Youth and Adult Education in a singular space: prison. This institution aims to (re)insert people into life in society - people who are better prepared for social life and who have knowledge, skills and values that, most of the time, were not offered throughout their lives. In prison spaces, it is fundamental to listen to people who are silenced by the system's norms. To open spaces for their life narratives is to give them the opportunity to belong in the past-present. In this perspective, Youth and Adult Education in spaces of deprivation of liberty must be based on ideals of popular education, which has man and life as the center of the educational process, and in which learning to read, to write and to interpret, permeate this movement of (re)constructing one's citizenship and people's humanization.

Este artigo busca trazer contribuições para o debate sobre a oferta de educação para jovens e adultos em situação de privação de liberdade e enfatiza a necessidade de concretização de políticas públicas que concebam a educação como direito humano, investindo em suas dimensões escolares e não-escolares e em recursos didático-pedagógicos e humanos. Pensar educação nesse contexto significa repensar a instituição prisão como uma comunidade de aprendizagens que envolve todos os seus atores, dotando o homem aprisionado de conhecimentos, valores e competências que lhe permitam reconhecer-se como sujeito de direitos, que conduz a própria vida no presente e ressignifica seu passado em direção a um projeto de vida futura.

This article tries to bring ideas that can represent alternatives to the debate on education for youngs and adults the provision of education in detention facilities, emphasizing the need to implement public policies that conceive education as a human right, investing in its school and non-school dimensions, in its infrastructure, and in didactic-pedagogical and human resources. Conceiving education means rethinking prison institution as a learning community, which involves all the people who participate in it, endowing those imprisoned with knowledge, values and skills that will in turn enable them to acknowledge themselves as subjects that lead their own lives and rethink their past toward a future life plan.
