ABSTRACT Purpose: to map health determinants associated with exclusive breastfeeding. Methods: a scoping review conducted according to the JBI methodology and recommendations in PRISMA-Extension for Scoping Reviews. Data were collected in the MEDLINE/PubMed, LILACS, CINAHL, Scopus, and EMBASE databases and in the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations for the grey literature. The results were synthesized and organized into three theoretical models: distal, intermediate, and proximal. Literature Review altogether, 3,998 titles were found, of which 145 were included in the review, after all selection stages. They had various methodological designs and were published between 2002 and 2022. The following health determinants associated with exclusive breastfeeding were mapped: maternal educational attainment, family income, attendance to and frequency of prenatal care, breastfeeding guidance and practices, time until first breastfeeding, newborn’s sex, maternal employment and maternity leave, pacifier use, and exclusive breastfeeding guidance at health services. Conclusion: determinants that can facilitate or hinder exclusive breastfeeding are extrinsic and intrinsic to the mother and infant. Public policies are needed to protect every person’s right to breastfeeding.

RESUMO Objetivo: mapear os determinantes em saúde associados ao aleitamento materno exclusivo. Métodos: revisão de escopo realizada seguindo a metodologia do JBI, concomitantemente com as recomendações do checklist PRISMA-Extension for Scoping Reviews. A coleta de dados foi realizada nas bases de dados Medline/PubMed, Lilacs, Cinahl, Scopus e Embase e, para identificação da literatura cinzenta, utilizou-se a Biblioteca Digital Brasileira de Teses e Dissertações. A síntese dos resultados foi organizada em três modelos teóricos: distal, intermediário e proximal. Revisão da Literatura: foram encontrados 3.998 títulos e, após todas as etapas de seleção, foram incluídos 145 estudos, de diferentes desenhos metodológicos, publicados entre os anos de 2002 e 2022. Foram mapeados como determinantes em saúde associados ao aleitamento materno exclusivo: escolaridade materna, renda familiar, realização e número de consultas no pré-natal, orientação e práticas do aleitamento materno, tempo até a primeira mamada, sexo do recém-nascido, trabalho materno e licença-maternidade, uso de chupeta e orientações sobre aleitamento materno exclusivo nos serviços de saúde. Conclusão: os determinantes que podem facilitar ou dificultar o aleitamento materno exclusivo são extrínsecos e intrínsecos ao binômio mãe e bebê, e fazem-se necessárias políticas públicas que protejam o direito de amamentação de qualquer ser humano.

RESUMO Este artigo discute as origens de certos saberes acadêmicos e não acadêmicos em torno da independência do Brasil, inserindo-os em um jogo de permanente tensão entre memória, política e escrita da história. Ao longo de 200 anos, essa tensão tem acompanhado a temática da Independência, garantindo-lhe uma condição central na história do Brasil e renovando sua atualidade.

ABSTRACT This article discusses the origins of certain types of academic and non-academic knowledge about the Independence of Brazil, examining them as an interplay of permanent tension between memory, politics and the writing of history. For 200 years, this tension has accompanied the country’s Independence, ensuring it as a central condition in the history of Brazil and reinforcing its relevance today.

Resumo Visando colaborar com as questões sugeridas pelo fórum “Às vésperas dos 200 anos da Independência do Brasil: o que e como discutir?”, este artigo procura abordar o tema central das discussões elegendo como eixo analítico as relações entre política, cultura e historiografia. Na primeira parte, o texto recupera e desdobra argumentos em torno da compreensão da Independência como tema da política e como movimento revolucionário que pautou o pensamento e a ação dos protagonistas que vivenciaram a separação de Portugal e a formação do Império no século XIX. Na segunda parte, procura articular o debate político e historiográfico desenvolvido ao longo do século XIX e a emergência de representações e recriações visuais do tema, bem como dos episódios e personagens a ele conectados. O objetivo primordial é lançar interrogações sobre escritas da História e narrativas visuais que ainda hoje povoam a fala de historiadores e o imaginário da sociedade brasileira, visando descobrir seus fundamentos e as razões de sua força persuasiva.

Abstract In order to collaborate with the questions suggested by the Forum “On the eve of the 200th anniversary of the Independence of Brazil: what and how to discuss?”, this paper seeks to address the central theme of the discussions, choosing the relations between politics, culture and historiography as an analytical axis. In the first part, it retrieves and unfolds arguments around the understanding of Independence as a theme of politics and as a revolutionary movement that guided the thinking and action of the protagonists who experienced the separation from Portugal and the formation of the Empire in the 19th century. In the second part, it seeks to articulate the political and historiographical debate developed during the 19th century and the emergence of visual representations and recreations of the theme, as well as the episodes and characters connected to it. The primary objective is to raise questions about the writings of history and visual narratives that still today populate the speech of historians and the imaginary of Brazilian society, in order to discover their foundations and the reasons for their persuasive strength.

O artigo se propõe a discutir as complexas mediações entre política, memória e escrita da história, tomando como referência o recente livro de Izabel Andrade Marson, Política, história e método em Joaquim Nabuco: tessituras da revolução e da escravidão. Fundamentando-se, igualmente, em considerações de Maria Stella Bresciani e Carlos Alberto Vesentini, o texto procura problematizar procedimentos concernentes ao ofício de historiar.

This article aims to discuss the complex mediations among politics, memory and the writing of history, using Izabel Andrade Marson's recently published book Politics, history and method in Joaquim Nabuco: fabrics of revolution and slavery as reference. Also based on considerations by Maria Stella Bresciani and Carlos Alberto Vesentini, this essay attempts to challenge procedures concerning the art of making history.
