Resumo Objetivo Identificar variáveis associadas à prática religiosa em adultos e idosos brasileiros de 50 anos e mais. Método Neste estudo observacional e transversal, participaram 7.171 indivíduos de 50 anos e mais, integrantes de amostra nacional representativa (N=9.412), entrevistados na 1ª onda do Estudo Longitudinal da Saúde dos Idosos Brasileiros (ELSI-Brasil), sobre frequência de participação em serviços religiosos, afiliação religiosa, autoavaliação de saúde, sexo, idade, escolaridade, arranjo de moradia, região de residência e raça. O modelo de regressão de Poisson foi usado para investigar associações brutas e ajustadas entre as variáveis. Resultados Cinquenta e sete por cento da amostra eram mulheres; a média de idade foi 62,5±9,4 anos; a maior parte tinha 5 a 8 anos de escolaridade e morava com 3 ou mais pessoas; 42% residiam na região Sudeste e 48% declararam-se pardos; 66% eram católicos e 76% participavam de cerimônias religiosas uma ou mais vezes por semana; 45% avaliaram a própria saúde como regular. Os mais assíduos em serviços religiosos foram os participantes pretos (RP=1,06, IC95% 1,00-1,12), pardos (RP=1,07, IC95% 1,03-1,11), evangélicos (RP=1,26, IC95% 1,22-1,30) e com autoavaliação da saúde como regular (RP=1,07, IC95% 1,02-1,11). Os menos assíduos eram do sexo masculino (RP=0,87, IC95% 0,84-0,90), com 5 a 8 anos de escolaridade (RP=0,92, IC95% 0,88-0,97) e residiam nas regiões Sudeste (RP=0,91, IC95% 0,86-0,95) e Sul (RP=0,90, IC95% 0,82-0,99). Conclusão Cor de pele preta e parda, religião evangélica e autoavaliação de saúde como regular estão associadas à maior assiduidade em serviços religiosos entre brasileiros de 50 anos e mais.

Abstract Objective To identify variables associated with religious practice in Brazilian adults and older adults aged 50 and over. Method In this observational and cross-sectional study, the participants included 7,171 individuals aged 50 and over from a representative national sample (N=9,412), interviewed in the first wave of the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Aging (ELSI-Brazil), on frequency of participation in religious services, religious affiliation, self-rated health, sex, age, education, living arrangements, region of residence, and race. The Poisson regression model was used to investigate crude and adjusted associations between variables. Results Fifty-seven percent of the sample was female, the mean age was 62.5±9.4 years old, the majority had 5 to 8 years of education and lived with 3 or more people, 42% resided in the Southeast region, and 48% self-declared as Pardo [mixed race], 66% were Catholic, 76% attended religious services once or more times a week, and 45% rated their health as fair. The most frequent participants in religious services were Black (PR=1.06, 95%CI 1.00-1.12)and mixed race (PR=1.07, 95%CI 1.03-1.11), Evangelical (PR =1.26, 95%CI 1.22-1.30), and self-rated their health as fair (PR=1.07, 95%CI 1.02-1.11). In contrast, the least frequent were male (PR=0.87, 95%CI 0.84-0.90), with 5 to 8 years of education (PR=0.92, 95%CI 0.88-0.97), residing in the Southeast (PR=0.91, 95%CI 0.86-0.95) and South (PR=0.90, 95%CI 0.82-0.99) regions. Conclusion Self-declaration as Black and mixed race, Evangelical religion, and self-rated health as fair were associated with higher attendance at religious services among Brazilians aged 50 and over.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the records of the multiprofessional team of education conducts related to patient safety to family members of hospitalized child. Method: Cross-sectional, descriptive and retrospective study with secondary data. The sample consisted of 126 medical charts of hospitalized pediatric patients in medical-surgical units. Results: The average age was 44.58 months, most patients were male (55.4%) living in Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil (43.7%) and hospitalized for respiratory system dysfunction (36.5%). All records were performed by nurses. Guidance related to prevention of falls was the most frequent and provided at admission (72.2%) and during the first week of hospitalization (21.4%). Conclusion: the information related to educational conducts to family members to promote pediatric patient safety is poorly recorded in medical charts; it is necessary to involve the multidisciplinary team in this process.

RESUMEN Objetivo: analizar los registros del equipo multiprofesional sobre conductas de educación familiar para promover la seguridad de los niños hospitalizados. Método: estudio transversal, descriptivo y retrospectivo con el uso de datos secundarios. La muestra consistió en 126 archivos de pacientes pediátricos hospitalizados en unidades médico-quirúrgicas. Resultados: la edad promedio era de 44,58 meses, la mayoría eran varones (55,4%), residentes en Porto Alegre (43,7%) y hospitalizados por una disfunción del sistema respiratorio (36,5%). Todos los registros fueron realizados por enfermeras. La principal orientación era sobre la prevención de caídas en el momento de ingresar al hospital (72,2%) y durante la primera semana de hospitalización (21,4%). Conclusión: en los registros médicos hay poca información sobre las conductas de educación familiar para promover la seguridad de los pacientes pediátricos y, para ello, se precisa que el equipo multiprofesional participe en este proceso.

RESUMO Objetivo: analisar os registros da equipe multiprofissional sobre condutas de educação do familiar para promoção da segurança da criança hospitalizada. Método: estudo transversal, descritivo e retrospectivo com uso de dados secundários. A amostra foi constituída por 126 prontuários de pacientes pediátricos internados nas unidades clínico-cirúrgicas de um hospital no Sul do Brasil, no período entre setembro/2013 e agosto/2014. Resultados: a média de idade foi de 44,58 meses, sendo a maioria do sexo masculino (55,4%), residente em Porto Alegre-RS, Brasil (43,7%) e internado por disfunção do sistema ventilatório (36,5%). Todos os registros foram realizados por enfermeiros. A principal orientação relacionou-se à prevenção de quedas no momento da admissão (72,2%) e durante a primeira semana de internação (21,4%). Conclusão: as informações relacionadas às condutas de educação do familiar para promover a segurança do paciente pediátrico ainda são pouco registradas em prontuário, sendo necessário envolver a equipe multiprofissional nesse processo.

ABSTRACT An integrative review was undertaken to analyze the strategies, safety incidents and the phase of the medication process intended to prevent adverse events in pediatrics. Data collection took place between November/2015 and February/2017 in the databases: Latin American Literature in Health Sciences, Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature, U.S. National Library of Medicine and Web of Science. The following descriptors were used: medication errors, patient safety and child. Twenty-seven articles were selected, published between 2004 and 2016. The most investigated phase of the medication process was the drug prescription. The safety incident rates varied between 0.91% and 54%. No methodological standardization could be identified in the studies. The reported prevention strategies were: use of electronic drug prescription, clinical simulation, dosing protocol and incident reports. It is important for the risk identification and planning of prevention strategies to support the global analysis of the medication process.

RESUMEN Esta es un revisión integrativa cuya finalidad fue analizar las estrategias, los incidentes de seguridad y la etapa del proceso medicamentoso para prevención de eventos adversos en la pediatría. Los datos fueron obtenidos entre noviembre/2015 y febrero/2017, en las bases: Literatura Latinoamericana en Ciencias de Salud, Cumulative Index of Nursingand Allied Health Literature, U.S. National Library of Medicine y Web of Science. Fueron utilizados los descriptores: errores de medicación, seguridad del paciente y niño. Se eligieron 27 artículos publicados entre 2004 y 2016. La etapa del proceso medicamentoso más investigada fue la prescripción médica. Las tajas de incidentes de seguridad variaron entre 0,91% y 54%, no siendo identificada estandarización metodológica en los estudios. Las estrategias de prevención relatadas fueron: uso de la prescripción médica electrónica, simulación clínica, protocolo de dosis, y notificaciones de incidentes. Es importante que la identificación de riesgos y el planeamiento de las estrategias de prevención subsidien el análisis global del proceso medicamentoso.

Realizou-se a coleta entre novembro/2015 e fevereiro/2017, nas bases: Literatura Latino-Americana em Ciências de Saúde, Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature, U.S. National Library of Medicine e Web of Science. Utilizaram-se os descritores: erros de medicação, segurança do paciente e criança. Foram selecionados 27 artigos, publicados entre 2004 e 2016. A etapa do processo medicamentoso mais pesquisada foi a prescrição médica. As taxas de incidentes de segurança variaram entre 0,91% e 54%, não sendo identificada padronização metodológica nos estudos. As estratégias de prevenção relatadas foram: uso da prescrição médica eletrônica, simulação clínica, protocolo de doses, e notificações de incidentes. É importante que a identificação de riscos e o planejamento das estratégias de prevenção subsidiem a análise global do processo medicamentoso.

Abstract Introduction The diode laser has been frequently used in the management of laryngeal disorders. The portability and functional diversity of this tool make it a reasonable alternative to conventional lasers. However, whether diode laser has been applied in transoral laser microsurgery, the ideal parameters, outcomes, and adverse effects remain unclear. Objective The main objective of this systematic review is to provide a reliable evaluation of the use of diode laser in laryngeal diseases, trying to clarify its ideal parameters in the larynx, as well as its outcomes and complications. Data Synthesis We included eleven studies in the final analysis. From the included articles, we collected data on patient and lesion characteristics, treatment (diode laser's parameters used in surgery), and outcomes related to the laser surgery performed. Only two studies were prospective and there were no randomized controlled trials. Most of the evidence suggests that the diode laser can be a useful tool for treatment of different pathologies in the larynx. In this sense, the parameters must be set depending on the goal (vaporization, section, or coagulation) and the clinical problem. Conclusion: The literature lacks studies on the ideal parameters of the diode laser in laryngeal surgery. The available data indicate that diode laser is a useful tool that should be considered in laryngeal surgeries. Thus, large, well-designed studies correlated with diode compared with other lasers are needed to better estimate its effects.

Introduction  A nasolabial cyst is an ectodermal development cyst. It presents as a fullness of canine fossa, nasal ala, or vestibule of the nose. It is rare and usually small. Treatment consists of complete surgical excision or transnasal endoscopic marsupialization. Objective  To describe a giant nasolabial cyst case treated using Neumann incision. Case Report  A 37-year-old man was referred to the otolaryngology department with nasal obstruction and nasal deformity. Computed tomography showed a nasal cystic lesion 4 × 4.5 × 5 cm wide. Surgical excision using Neumann incision was performed. Discussion  Neumann incision provides wide access to the nasal cavity and may be useful in nasolabial cyst treatment.

Este artigo apresenta o relato de experiência de quatro discentes do curso de Medicina da Universidade Federal do Vale do São Francisco (Univasf) como monitores da disciplina de Bioquímica Metabólica, que foram assistidos pelo professor da disciplina e vivenciaram os três pilares da universidade: ensino, pesquisa e extensão. A monitoria apresentou um caráter especial, pois os monitores não só auxiliaram os estudantes que cursaram esta disciplina, como introduziram pesquisa e extensão. Na pesquisa, foram utilizados animais experimentais, tentando-se estabelecer relações com o ensino, baseando-se em revisões bibliográficas e expondo-se os resultados em um encontro idealizado pelo professor da disciplina, intitulado I Bioclínica - Mostra de Trabalhos Experimentais e de Revisão, o que caracterizou uma atividade de extensão. Este relato procura demonstrar a importância da formação acadêmica numa visão indissociável das vertentes da universidade por meio da disciplina de Bioquímica.

This article reports the experience off our students from the UNIVASF School of Medicine while acting as monitors for the metabolic biochemistry discipline, who were assisted by the teacher and were able to experience the three pillars of the University: education, research and extension. The monitoring involved a special feature, as the monitors not only assisted the students of the subject, but also introduced research and extension work. The research involved the use of experimental animals, trying to establish relations with education, based on literature review and with the results being reported at a meeting designed by the teacher, entitled1st Bioclinical - An exhibition of experimental and review work, characterizing an extension activity. This report, therefore, seeks to demonstrate the importance of academic training in an integrated vision of the branches of the University through the Biochemistry discipline.
