Abstract Objectives: The aim of this study is to develop and validate a novel clinical report form in the format of a structured interview to enable the characterization of the Portuguese population of the Baixo Vouga region with different subtypes of nodular thyroid pathologies (NTyPs). Materials and methods: A structured interview was developed and to the best of our knowledge, this is the first structured interview built and validated for that purpose in Portugal. Results: This structured interview enables the identification of possible correlations between each subtype of nodular lesions and sociodemographic data, consumption habits and lifestyle, endocrine history, and family predisposition. Conclusion: The novel structured interview will simultaneously, enable a detailed characterization of the group of patients with nodular thyroid lesions and will support future metabolomic studies.

Abstract Objectives Evidence suggests that ketamine’s influence on brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) might be involved in its mechanism of rapid antidepressant action. We aimed to evaluate the differential impact of ketamine and esketamine on serum BDNF levels and its association with response patterns in treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Methods Participants (n = 53) are from a randomized, double-blind clinical trial comparing the efficacy of single-dose ketamine (0.5mg/kg, n = 27) and esketamine (0.25mg/kg, n = 26) in TRD. Depression severity was assessed before and 24 hours, 72 hours, and 7 days after the intervention, using the Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS). Blood samples were collected before infusion, 24 hours, and 7 days afterwards. Results There were no significant changes in BDNF levels at post-infusion evaluation points, and no difference in BDNF levels comparing ketamine and esketamine. Both drugs exhibited similar therapeutic effect. There was no association between BDNF levels and response to treatment or severity of depressive symptoms. Conclusion There was no significant treatment impact on BDNF serum levels – neither with ketamine nor esketamine – despite therapeutic response. These results suggest that ketamine or esketamine intervention for TRD has no impact on BDNF levels measured at 24 hours and 7 days after the infusion. This clinical trial is registered on the Japan Primary Registries Network: UMIN000032355.

Biochars from peanut shell wastes were produced and further modified with KOH and HNO3 to efficiently remove two industrial dyes, Mordant Orange 1 and Green Malachite oxalate, in aqueous systems. The materials were characterized through elemental analysis, N2 adsorption isotherms, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the determination of the point of zero charge, pHPZC. The basic and, particularly, the acid treatments increased the specific surface area by 15 and 43%, respectively, and the pHPZC shifted from 6.2 to 9.1 or 3.3 upon treatments with KOH or HNO3. These modifications impacted the adsorption behavior of the dyes; in the case of Mordant Orange 1, the adsorption capacity increased 2 and 4 times, respectively, when compared with the parent biochar. These results show that the performance of biochars can improve substantially through simple modifications using acid or basic treatments that not only increase the specific surface area but also modify adsorbent/adsorbate interactions.

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the contribution of oral and maxillofacial pathology laboratories (OMPLs) in Brazilian public universities to the diagnosis of lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). A cross-sectional study was performed using biopsy records from a consortium of sixteen public OMPLs from all regions of Brazil (North, Northeast, Central-West, Southeast, and South). Clinical and demographic data of patients diagnosed with lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal SCC between 2010 and 2019 were collected from the patients’ histopathological records. Of the 120,010 oral and maxillofacial biopsies (2010-2019), 6.9% (8,321 cases) were diagnosed as lip (0.8%, 951 cases), oral cavity (4.9%, 5,971 cases), and oropharyngeal (1.2%, 1,399 cases) SCCs. Most cases were from Brazil’s Southeast (64.5%), where six of the OMPLs analyzed are located. The predominant profile of patients with lip and oral cavity SCC was Caucasian men, with a mean age over 60 years, low schooling level, and a previous history of heavy tobacco consumption. In the oropharyngeal group, the majority were non-Caucasian men, with a mean age under 60 years, had a low education level, and were former/current tobacco and alcohol users. According to data from the Brazilian National Cancer Institute, approximately 9.9% of the total lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal SCCs reported over the last decade in Brazil may have been diagnosed at the OMPLs included in the current study. Therefore, this data confirms the contribution of public OMPLs with respect to the important diagnostic support they provide to the oral healthcare services extended by the Brazilian Public Health System.

ABSTRACT Lontra longicaudis Olfers, 1818 is a semi-aquatic carnivore widely distributed in the Neotropical region. Understanding their diet contributes to an indirect understanding of their ecology and the composition of the local fauna. To this end, we analyzed 109 fecal samples and identified 238 morphological structures; these samples were collected between May 2006 and September 2007 from the Santa Lúcia Biological Station (SLBS) in southeastern Brazil. The area is intersected by the Timbuí River, which arrives at the site after crossing the urban perimeter of the city of Santa Teresa in the state of Espírito Santo. We found a predominance of fish in the otters’ diets (82%), mainly cichlids (50%), which are fish with sedentary habits and low mobility levels. The crustacean Trichodactylus fluviatilis Latreille, 1828 was the third most consumed taxon; this occurred mainly during the rainy season, corresponding to the crustacean’s reproductive period, when it is more vulnerable to predation. Otters exhibited a seasonal variation in their prey selectivity. Furthermore, they displayed opportunistic foraging behavior, as the most preyed fish were those with both low mobility and a high frequency in the environment, followed by fish with high mobility and high frequency, and then those with low mobility and low frequency. We concluded that the feeding habits of the otters in the SLBS are in line with the optimal foraging theory since prey selection was optimized through the balance between net energy gained and the energy costs of foraging.

ABSTRACT For patients with end stage renal disease, kidney transplant offers significant survival and quality-of-life advantages compared with dialysis. But for patients seeking transplant who are highly sensitized, waiting times have traditionally been long and options limited. We present the case of a 34-year-old hypersensitized female who underwent renal retransplantation. Histocompatibility tests revealed a calculated panel-reactive antibody of 99.53% with multiple antibodies against class I and II human leucocyte antigens and an eplet analysis was performed. The donor’s potential unacceptable antigens were re-defined and the calculated panel-reactive antibody decreased to 88.38%. After one month the patient received a deceased-donor kidney transplant. Complement dependent cytotoxicity crossmatch was negative; virtual crossmatch and flow cytometry crossmatch with historical serum were positive. High-dose intravenous immunoglobulin and rituximab were added to the thymoglobulin-based induction immunosuppression. Three donor-specific antibodies were detected and plasmapheresis was performed. Renal allograft biopsy revealed no manifestations of rejection. Repeated testing observed a decrease in donor-specific antibodies median fluorescence intensity values. Four months post-transplant, the patient remained with normal graft function without proteinuria. She is receiving a standard maintenance immunosuppression regime with prednisolone, mycophenolate mofetil and tacrolimus. The careful discussion among the transplantation center and histocompatibility laboratory in association with intense immunosuppression and close laboratory monitoring allowed a successful human leukocyte antigen-incompatible deceased donor kidney transplantation in the most critical phase for the occurrence of humoral rejection. It is noteworthy that the new histocompatibility and immunogenetics methodologies provide a more affirmative and comprehensive assessment of mismatch acceptability.

Resumo Introdução: O uso de máscara é recomendado universalmente para a prevenção da transmissão da COVID-19, sendo frequente a observação de erros. Pretendeu-se avaliar conhecimentos e práticas de uso de máscaras, de forma a determinar a necessidade de medidas de educação para a saúde. Material e Métodos: Estudo analítico observacional transversal através de questionário de autorresposta aplicado a uma amostra por conveniência de utentes adultos de três unidades de Cuidados de Saúde Primários. Resultados: Obtiveram-se 299 questionários válidos, com uma amostra predominantemente constituída por elementos do sexo feminino (71,6%), com uma média de idades de 45,0±15,1 anos. O tipo de máscara identificado como mais usado foi a máscara cirúrgica (82,4%), sendo o principal motivo da escolha a eficácia de proteção (53,6%). Quem percecionou maior risco de infeção opta por máscaras com maior eficácia (54,6% vs 26,5%; p=0,046), enquanto quem referiu não sentir necessidade de usar máscara escolhe em função da disponibilidade (50,0% vs 22,2%; p=0,025). Quem considerou a máscara necessária apresentou menor número de erros na utilização (p<0,001) e uma maior taxa de desinfeção das mãos (82,3% vs 23,5%, p<0,001). Não se observou nenhum caso de utilização da máscara sem erros. Discussão: Cerca de 98% das pessoas referiu usar máscara sempre ou a maioria das vezes que saía de casa, cumprindo as recomendações em vigor. As pessoas não vacinadas sentem-se em maior risco de contrair a doença, revelando confiança na eficácia da vacina. Conclusão: O conhecimento da população em relação às máscaras e ao seu objetivo potencia a sua eficácia e correta utilização.

Abstract Introduction: The use of a facemask is universally recommended to prevent the transmission of COVID-19, but errors of usage are frequently observed. We aimed to evaluate knowledge and practices of facemask usage, to determine the need for health education strategies. Material and Methods: Analytical cross-sectional study with a self-administered questionnaire, applied to a convenience sample of adult patients of three primary health care units. Results: 299 valid questionnaires were obtained, with a sample composed mainly of the feminine gender (71.6%) and an average age of 45.0±15.1 years. The type of facemask identified as most used was the surgical mask (82.4%), with efficacy of protection as the main reason for the choice (53.6%). Those who perceived a higher risk of being infected opted for a facemask with greater efficacy (54.6% vs 26.5%; p=0.046), while those who felt no need to use a facemask decided based on availability (50.0% vs 22.2%; p=0.025). Those who considered the mask necessary displayed less usage errors (p<0.001) and a higher rate of hand disinfection (82.3% vs 23.5%, p<0.001). There were no cases of facemask usage without errors. Discussion: Around 98% of people referred using the facemask all or most of the times they left the house, complying with current recommendations. Those who were not vaccinated perceived a higher risk of being infected, which reveals an overall trust in the vaccine. Conclusion: Population knowledge regarding facemasks and their aim potentiates their efficacy and correct usage.

Resumo A pandemia trouxe ruturas significativas em várias dimensões da vida, implicando adaptações intensas e visibilizando velhas e novas desigualdades e exclusões, como as associadas ao idadismo. Através de uma etnografia online analisamos as estratégias desenvolvidas por uma associação portuguesa constituída por pessoas reformadas em resposta às limitações à sua ação trazidas pela COVID-19. A maioria da comunicação organizacional passou a ser online e a associação desenvolveu novas iniciativas para a prossecução da sua missão. As publicações na página pública de Facebook refletiram tensões com as quais as pessoas mais velhas foram confrontadas, recorrentemente associadas a fenómenos de idadismo, denunciados e problematizados pela associação. Neste estudo constatamos que também em organizações de pessoas adultas mais velhas houve transição para ferramentas online durante a pandemia, com a utilização do Facebook como plataforma de comunicação e como recurso para a ação política.

Résumé La pandémie a entraîné des ruptures importantes dans plusieurs dimensions de la vie, impliquant des adaptations intenses et rendant visibles des inégalités et des exclusions anciennes et nouvelles, notamment celles associées à l’âgisme. À partir d’une ethnographie en ligne, nous analysons les stratégies développées par une association portugaise constituée de retraités en réponse aux limitations de leur action induites par le COVID-19. La plupart de la communication organisationnelle a commencé à être faite en ligne et l’organisation a mis en place de nouvelles initiatives pour la poursuite de sa mission. Les publications sur la page publique de Facebook reflétaient les tensions avec lesquelles les personnes âgées étaient confrontées, souvent associées à des phénomènes d’idadisme, dénoncées et problématisées par l’association. Dans cette étude, nous avons constaté que même dans les organisations de personnes adultes âgées, il y a eu une transition vers les outils en ligne pendant la pandémie, avec l’utilisation de Facebook comme plateforme de communication et comme ressource pour l’action politique.

Abstract The pandemic brought significant ruptures in several dimensions of life, implying intense adaptations and unveiling old and new inequalities and exclusions, such as those associated with ageism. Through an online ethnography we analyse the strategies developed by a Portuguese association composed by retired people in response to the limitations brought by COVID-19. Most of the organisational communication went online and they developed new initiatives for the pursuit of their mission. The publications on the public Facebook page reflected tensions with which older people were confronted, recurrently related with ageism, often denounced and problematised by the association. In this study we found that also in older adult’s organisations, there was transition to online tools during the pandemic, with the use of Facebook as a communication platform and as a resource for political action.

Resumo Introdução No Sul do Brasil, a principal causa de mortalidade por neoplasias entre as mulheres está ocupada pelo câncer de mama. O exame clínico anual das mamas está recomendado como medida de rastreamento. Objetivo Investigar a prevalência de não realização do exame clínico de mamas nos últimos 12 meses e fatores associados em mulheres de 20 a 69 anos residentes no município de São Leopoldo/RS em 2015. Método Estudo transversal de base populacional, no qual foram incluídas na análise variáveis demográficas e socioeconômicas. Foram calculadas as razões de prevalência (RP) por regressão de Poisson. Resultados Entre 1.128 mulheres, a prevalência de não realização de exame clínico das mamas foi de 52,6% (IC95%: 51,1-57,2); na análise ajustada, a não realização do exame mostrou-se associada à classe econômica D/E (RP = 1,58; IC95%: 1,16-2,15) e escolaridade de 0 a 4 anos de estudo (RP = 2,16; IC95%: 1,33-3,53). Conclusão As mulheres em situação de vulnerabilidade social apresentaram maior probabilidade de não realização do exame, demonstrando a iniquidade do sistema.

Abstract Background In southern Brazil, the main cause of mortality from cancer among women is breast cancer. Annual clinical breast examination is recommended as a screening measure. Objective To investigate the prevalence of patients that did not perform breast exams in the last 12 months and its associated factors in women aged 20 to 69 years living in São Leopoldo/RS in 2015. Method The present research is a population-based, cross-sectional study; demographic and socio-economic variables were included in the analysis; prevalence ratios (PR) were calculated by Poisson regression. Results Among the 1128 women sampled, the prevalence of not performing clinical breast exams was of 52.6% (95%CI: 51.1-57.2); in the adjusted analysis, not performing clinical breast exams was associated with having a D/E socio-economic status (PR = 1.58; 95%CI: 1.16-2.15), as well as with having an educational level of 0 to 4 years of study (PR = 2.16; 95%CI: 1.33-3.53). Conclusion Women in social vulnerability were more likely to not perform the exams, demonstrating the inequity of the system.

Abstract BACKGROUND: Gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms are frequent complaints from individuals with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Dyspepsia is a universal clinical symptom and is among the most common GI complaints observed in the general population, but its prevalence in the population with NAFLD has not been previously investigated. OBJECTIVE: To compare the prevalence of functional dyspepsia (FD) between patients with NAFLD and controls without liver disease. DESIGN AND SETTING: Cross-sectional study at the Outpatient Liver Clinic, University Hospital, Belo Horizonte, Brazil. METHODS: We included 96 NAFLD patients and 105 controls without liver disease. All participants were assessed for GI symptoms in accordance with the Rome III criteria. Evaluation methods included a questionnaire for FD (validated in Brazil), laboratory tests and upper GI endoscopy. RESULTS: Mean age and sex were similar between the groups. The NAFLD group presented higher frequency of proton-pump inhibitor usage (31.3% vs 4.8%; P < 0.001) and prevalence of FD (25.0% versus 12.4%; P = 0.021). The symptom frequencies were as follows: postprandial distress, 22.9% versus 11.4% (P = 0.030); postprandial fullness, 18.8% versus 10.5% (P = 0.095); early satiation, 8.3% versus 5.7% (P = 0.466); and epigastric pain or burning, 18.8% versus 5.7% (P = 0.004), in NAFLD patients and controls, respectively. Multivariate analysis demonstrated that female sex (odds ratio, OR 6.97; 95% confidence interval, CI: 1.51-32.12; P = 0.013) and NAFLD diagnosis (OR 2.45; 95% CI: 1.14-5.27; P = 0.021) were independently associated with FD occurrence. CONCLUSION: FD occurs more frequently in individuals with NAFLD than in controls without hepatic disease.

RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar os efeitos do buquê de essências florais nos sinais e sintomas do estresse em estudantes de enfermagem. Método: Ensaio clínico randomizado, triplo cego, com dois grupos, floral e placebo, realizado com 101 estudantes de enfermagem. Os grupos utilizaram a fórmula por 60 dias na dosagem de 4 gotas 4 vezes ao dia. O desfecho foi avaliado pelas escalas Teste de Baccaro e Escala de Estresse Percebido, aplicadas no início e no final da intervenção. A análise do desfecho foi feita pelo modelo de efeitos misto, com 〈 = 5% e o tamanho de efeito verificado pelo teste d-Cohen. Resultados: Não houve diferença significativa entre os grupos na redução do estresse (p > 0,05). Ambos os grupos tiveram redução nos escores das escalas (p < 0,001) com tamanho de efeito grande. Houve influência da pandemia COVID-19 na redução dos escores do Teste de Baccaro. Conclusão: A intervenção com terapia floral não foi mais efetiva que o placebo na redução de sinais e sintomas de estresse. Registro Brasileiro de Ensaios Clínicos: UTNU1111–1257–5715.

Abstract Objective: To analyze the effects of flower essence bouquets on the signs and symptoms of stress in nursing students. Method: Randomized clinical trial, triple blind, with two groups, flower essence group and placebo group, carried out with 101 nursing students. The groups used the formula for 60 days at a dosage of 4 drops 4 times a day. The outcome was evaluated using the Baccaro Test and the Perceived Stress Scale applied at the beginning and at the end of the intervention. The outcome analysis was performed using the mixed effects model, with 〈 = 5% and the effect size verified by the Cohen’s d test. Results: There was no significant difference between the groups in stress reduction (p > 0.05). Both groups showed a reduction in scale scores (p < 0.001) with large effect size. There was an influence of the COVID-19 pandemic in the reduction of Baccaro Test scores. Conclusion: The intervention with flower essence therapy was not more effective than placebo in reducing stress signs and symptoms. Brazilian Registry of Clinical Trials: UTN U1111–1257-5715.

RESUMO: Conhecido como um animal de múltiplas funções, o Equus asinus sempre foi utilizado para diversos fins, tais como entretenimento, cavalgadas, meios de transporte, tração agrícola e produção de leite. Embora os asininos estejam associados a um vasto patrimônio social, cultural, econômico e ecológico, eles perderam importância nas atividades das propriedades rurais, tanto nas economias desenvolvidas dos países europeus como na região Nordeste do Brasil. Não existem estudos específicos de sistemas de produção visando a exploração racional das espécies de asininos no Brasil. Novas perspectivas para o uso do asno na região semiárida brasileira através da indústria leiteira despertou o interesse científico e o interesse dos investidores. O asinino, aliado ao baixo custo de produção e à rusticidade da espécie, tem a capacidade de contribuir para a economia com produtos de alto valor biológico e características terapêuticas. Assim, esta revisão forneceu uma visão ampla do asinino criado no Nordeste do Brasil, observando suas características e relevância para a região. Os benefícios do leite asinino e a necessidade de promover a produção e comercialização deste leite na cadeia produtiva do leite também serão discutidos.

ABSTRACT: Known as an animal of multiple functions, the Equus asinus has always been used for various purposes, such as entertainment, horseback riding, means of transport, agricultural traction and dairy farming. Although, donkeys are associated with a vast heritage of social, cultural, economic and ecological importance, they have lost their importance in the activities of rural properties, both in the developed economies of European countries and in the Northeast region of Brazil. Specific studies of production systems aimed rational exploitation of the donkey species in Brazil do not exist. New perspectives for the use of donkey in the Brazilian semiarid region through the dairy industry has aroused scientific interest and the interest of investors. The donkey, allied to the low production costs and rusticity of the species, has the capacity to contribute to the economy with products of high biological value and therapeutic characteristics. Thus, this review provided a broad view of the donkey bred in the Northeast of Brazil, observing its characteristics and relevance for the region. The benefits of donkey milk and the need to promote the production and marketing of this milk in the dairy production chain will also be discussed.

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the physicochemical and microbiological characteristics of six typical Brazilian cheeses (bovine milk coalho, goat milk coalho, fresh ricotta, manteiga, fresh Minas, and Padrão Minas). Padrão Minas cheese presented high acidity and the highest contents of protein, fat, and ash, while Ricotta cheese presented the lowest contents of protein, fat, and ash. Bovine milk coalho and Minas fresh cheeses were characterized as source of zinc. Manteiga cheese was characterized by the yellow color (higher b* values). Goat milk coalho cheese was characterized by the white color (higher L* values) and presented the highest concentration of minerals (potassium, iron, magnesium, calcium, manganese, and phosphorus). Part of the typical Brazilian cheeses did not agree with the legislation for moisture (5.9%) and fat in the dry matter (11.8%) classifications, as well as, did not have adequate concentrations of protein (65.4%) and fat (44.9%) stated in the label, being the non-conformity dependent on the cheese type. Furthermore, 30% of the cheeses (30%) disagreed with the microbiological Brazilian legislation, as they presented coliforms and/or coagulase-positive Staphylococcus counts above the limits. It can be concluded that the Brazilian cheeses are nutritive, but the microbial quality and nutritional labels need improvement.

Este estudo objetivou analisar os fatores sociodemográficos e reprodutivos associados ao acolhimento ao parto em estabelecimentos de saúde vinculados à Rede Cegonha no Brasil, na perspectiva das usuárias. Foram selecionados 606 serviços com amostra de 10.540 puérperas. O desfecho foi a variável latente acolhimento da puérpera, composta por cinco indicadores: apresentação dos profissionais com nome e função, chamar a gestante pelo nome, compreensão das informações dadas, se sentir bem tratada e respeitada e ter as necessidades respondidas pela equipe. As variáveis explicativas foram: idade, escolaridade, cor da pele, situação conjugal, tipo de parto, paridade e peregrinação. Foi utilizada modelagem de equações estruturais. Observaram-se maiores percentuais de mulheres com idade de 20 a 34 anos (68,31%), que se autodeclararam como pardas (56,3%), com escolaridade entre 9 e 11 anos de estudo (56,1%) e que tinham companheiro (78,8%). Houve predominância de puérperas que tiveram parto vaginal (56,6%), com um a dois filhos (46%) e que relataram não peregrinar (91,9%). Apresentaram efeito direto positivo sobre o acolhimento mulheres com maior idade (CP = 0,094; p < 0,001) e maior escolaridade (CP = 0,096; p < 0,001). O parto cesáreo apresentou efeito direto negativo (CP = -0,059; p < 0,002) e cor da pele preta e parda apresentou efeitos direto e indireto negativos (CP = -0,081; p < 0,001 e CP = -0,014; p < 0,001). Puérpera com maior idade, maior escolaridade e que tiveram parto vaginal tiveram percepção mais positiva do acolhimento nos serviços de saúde.

This study aimed to analyze sociodemographic and reproductive factors associated with childbirth care in health services affiliated with the Stork Network in Brazil, from the users’ perspective. The sample included 10,540 postpartum women from 606 services. The outcome was the latent variable reception of the patient, consisting of five indicators: healthcare staff members introducing themselves stating their names and roles, calling the pregnant woman by her name, the patient’s understanding of the information provided, the patient feeling well treated and respected, and the patient having her needs met by the staff. The explanatory variables were maternal age, schooling, skin color, marital status, type of delivery, parity, and number of services visited before admission for childbirth. Most of the women were 20 to 34 years of age (68.31%), self-identified as brown (56.3%), had 9 to 11 years of schooling (56.1%), and were married or lived with the partner (78.8%). There was a predominance of vaginal delivery (56.6%), with one or two previous children (46%), and reports of not having gone to more than one maternity service to be admitted (91.9%). There was a direct positive effect on reception for childbirth from patient´s higher age (SC = 0.094; p < 0.001) and more schooling (SC = 0.096; p < 0.001). Cesarean delivery had a direct negative effect (SC = -0.059; p < 0.002), and black and brown skin color had direct and indirect negative effects (SC = -0.081; p < 0.001 and SC = -0.014; p < 0.001). Older postpartum women and those with more schooling and vaginal delivery had a more positive perception of their reception by maternity services.

El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar los factores sociodemográficos y reproductivos, asociados a la acogida en el parto, en establecimientos de salud vinculados a la Red Cegonha en Brasil, desde la perspectiva de las usuarias. Se seleccionaron 606 servicios en una muestra de 10.540 puérperas. El resultado fue la variable latente de acogida de la puérpera, compuesta por cinco indicadores: presentación de los profesionales con nombre y función, llamar a la gestante por el nombre, comprensión de la información proporcionada, sentirse bien tratada y respetada y contar con las necesidades cubiertas por el equipo. Las variables explicativas fueron: edad, escolaridad, color de piel, situación conyugal, tipo de parto, paridad y desplazamientos largos. Se utilizó un modelado de ecuaciones estructurales. Se observaron mayores porcentajes de mujeres con una edad comprendida entre los 20 a los 34 años (68,31%), que se autodeclararon mestizas (56,3%), con una escolaridad entre 9 y 11 años de estudio (56,1%) y que tenían compañero (78,8%). Hubo una predominancia de puérperas que tuvieron un parto vaginal (56,6%), con de 1 a 2 hijos (46%) y que informaron no realizar grandes desplazamientos (91,9%). Presentaron un efecto directo positivo sobre la acogida mujeres con mayor edad (CP = 0,094; p < 0,001) y mayor escolaridad (CP = 0,096; p < 0,001). El parto por cesárea presentó un efecto directo negativo (CP = -0,059; p < 0,002) y color de la piel negra y mestiza presentó efectos directo e indirecto negativos (CP = -0,081; p < 0,001 e CP = -0,014; p < 0,001). Puérperas con mayor edad, mayor escolaridad y que tuvieran parto vaginal tuvieron una percepción más positiva de acogida en los servicios de salud.
